Moving a house in a Kia is tough
First
Or second…..
That is tough. How many trips are you going to make?
I’m at 22 right now, I had use of a truck last night for the big stuff, maybe 20 more trips, folding back seats go aot
Wow, I’m sorry. Glad you could get a truck for at least part of it.
I’m exhausted, and have 2 days left
Just keep imagining how good those tall cans will taste when you’re done.
Imagine how tired the Kia is.
Hang in there.
Enjoy some beer when you’re done.
That costs less than two trips* and a U-haul rental?
*Two trips so you can return the van rather than paying extra for one-way dropoff which, as I understand it, is quite expensive from CA.
…cause nobody is bringing them back, amirite ?
Yes you are.
Going into storage right now and its close by, troubleis I need another 10 x 10, I had no idea how much crap my wife drug around…
Oh, that’s better. I was thinking you were going to Arizona and just….wtf. that’s horrible.
I feel ya. In college I moved in and out multiple times using a Honda Civic. Somehow I packed everything I needed/wanted in my dorm with that ’98 coupe in one trip. Needless to say I probably and grossly exceeded the recommended cargo weight limit.
Just change your username to Yusef drives a Yukon.
I thought with the money you saved on car payments you could afford to hire movers.
And of course, it’s all Amazon’s fault. Thanks for the insight, Seattle Times.
Well it is has the same owner as WaPO…
Man, did pick the wrong game to watch and get drunk to and the game to sleep it off through or what?
That sentence is drunk.

STEVE SMITH WORRY ABOUT “SEATTLE-IZATION” TOO. HIM HAVE PLAN TO AVOID IT.
Locusts gonna swarm.
Local Cops aren’t mounties.
I’m teh disappoint at the lack of that Alberta cop who ran over a deer.
Jokes, how do they work?
New Insane Clown Posse song?
I know pedantry. Not sure how many know the difference between Mounties and local police in Canada? Or the OPP for that matter..
An NDP government being statist and creating new taxes and regulations? What a shock.
Headline from the future: “High Housing costs blamed on greedy landlords and shortage of available properties”
Build more affordable housing, duh!
Same as raising taxes to build more affordable day care centers. That’ll solve the population decline.
Subheadline: landlords raise rents exactly 2.5% every year, even if inflation is less.
My rent goes up 5 to 7 percent every year – that’s with so-called “rent regulations” which in practice are actually cleverly designed to ass-fuck people in their prime earning years. I really need to move.
There are clothing stores and hair salons nearby, she noted, so police aren’t sure where the heads came from.
Maybe from the clothing sores or hair salons nearby?

Next thing, you’ll be putting ketchup on your hot dogs or serve your guests only a watercress and cucumber sandwich when they visit.
“you’ll be putting ketchup on your hot dogs”
I’m *not* a monster, sir.
What’s the problem with that?
Idk. I put ketchup and horseradish on mine.
*glares balefully*
Other than being the pedophilia of food? It’s probably the most goyisch culinary practice outside of cooking with bacon.
It’s also BANNED by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, which is a thing.
Fuck that. I put ketchup on hotdogs, brats and kilbasa.
Forgetting for the moment how disgusting that is… I would like to know why, of all the delicious German sausages America could have appropriated, we chose to popularize one that tastes like ass.
Ketchup is delicious. And which sausage are you talkin bout?
Brats. Kielbasa is Polish.
OK, you did mention brats, which are familiar here but not venerated the way that disgusting hot dogs are.
So yeah – any of the various Bratwursts, Weißwurst, Knackwurst, etc.
To clarify: hot dogs are a type of Vienna sausage that became popularized in Frankfurt and are disgusting. The other varieties I listed are mostly delicious.
I bet your mostly familiar with those skinless abominations than a good hot dog.
Obligatory
Its finally here. Woohoo. Delivered this evening.

Nah. Trackhoes are much better at digging.

I have about 6 acres of coal dumps on my property that I’m going to clean up. After that, the 60 acres right next to me that my father bought and that I cut hay off of is about 40% grown up mess. I’m gonna clear everything on it but the big oaks.
After that, I dunno. Probably rebuild the easement road on my place. Take it to my dads and do some work for him. Try and hire myself out after I get proficient with it.
Sell it. Keep it for the apocalypse or a graboid invasion.
Really the possibilities are endless.

Making prison great again.
https://nypost.com/2019/01/11/texas-corrections-officer-accused-of-having-sex-with-2-inmates/
There’s a reason they’re called rape cages.
I wonder when prison rape jokes started to become mainstream? I know the Shawshank Redemption is very clear on this (I know it was a flop at the time but now…) but I think it predates that.
Airplane was 14 years before Shawshank, and I’m sure you could find other references as easily. Your intuitive idea of the time frame is wayyy off.
Well I had a feeling it is a lot older than the 1990s but I didn’t know for sure.
What was the joke they made? I don’t recall it.
Turkish prison
Oh yeah, how could I forget that! It was however a reference to foreign prisons. When did people start cracking jokes about American prisons? And no I don’t think Shawshank was the first to depict US prisons that way either.
The Midnight Express was in the ’70s.
I actually got curious one time (not like that!) about prison rape in the past and how it was dealt with or acknowledged. I couldn’t find any mentions of it prior to the mid-1900s. Maybe it’s one of those things that was “too horrible” to discuss?
Clyde barrow claimed ( or at least insinuated) that he was prison raped in the early 1930s.
I’m fairly certain Carl Panzram wrote about raping in prison in the late 20’s.
Holy shit, but there was a lot of male rapin’ going on back then. That guy was a real shit-heel, but I still feel bad for his childhood.
Jocko Willink was reading from Panzram’s memoir recently.
That’s some heavy shit.
If I was locked up? Prolly would.
That’s a lot better than what most of the other inmates are gonna get.
Remember Ken Schultz? One of his arguments was that libertarianism is inherently about rejection of parental authority.
On one hand I see what he is saying: the ideal is independence and moving out and making your own life once you are willing to do so. However there are some issues like how it assumes that everyone is supposed to hate their family which is a bit too atomistic. This also is a bit too close to the stereotype that libertarians are just angsty teens mad that Mom and Dad want them to go to school and not stay home and get high. Also rebellion against the adults have happened in the past yet haven’t led to the libertarian moment (see the 1920s or 1960s). Then you have the very practical issue that doesn’t this mean that children of libertarians should rebel and become statists?
Not sure how to respond. As Ken or myself?
I think there’s a difference between rejection of parental authority and evolving into an adult relationship with your parents, which necessarily reduces the amount of parental authority.
Parental authority is legitimate, for one.
I assume you are suggesting that “evolving into an adult relationship with your parents” is not necessarily a “rejection of parental authority”?
On this topic, why would you use Ken Schultz as your exemplar, as opposed to the much more well-known and influential Stefan Molyneux?
I haven’t read Molyneux for that matter but I have read Schultz and many members of this site have expressed dislike of their parents.
And is Molyneux even a libertarian these days? I have read things online that he wants people to get cut off from their family and how this has been criticized as too cult-like but I haven’t read his articles where he appears to say these things.
He tended to pontificate on those views more during his overly long and ponderous podcasts/Youtube videos.
I wouldn’t classify him as such. He seems to have moved from being a heterodox Objectivist-type to Identitarian, which is sad, as he had interesting things to say formerly. Now his views are bog-standard Youtube crank without even the benefit of being one of those pretty blondes who says nationalist things.
He’s gone from taking a principled stance against state power to using state power to limit future state power. It would be one thing if he were refusing to punch right because the left is a bigger threat (my personal opinion), but he didn’t need to join the identiarians to fight the far left.
How can you argue with this?
Don’t even wanna know where you found that.
Damn, now we aren’t even safe if just don’t click your links….
I wonder how Schultz’s views align with the existence of the extended family…
tl;dr
That might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever read about libertarianism. You could use the same argument about literally anything and it would be just as meaningless.
Does that guy think that the relationship between a government and the people is supposed to be akin to that of the relationship between parents and children? That seems pretty far on the statist side.
Too bad “that guy” isn’t here to discuss this in more detail.
Well Schultz does like his broad generalizations. *expects people to bring up times they think I’ve been guilty of the same*
True, “Fuck you Mom and Dad” can easily justify being a unemployed layabout or being a commie.
My son is 16, a junior in high school and self-describes as libertarian. Wants to major in Economics in college and loves talking about the benefits of free markets and the absurdity of Marxism. Far as I know he doesn’t hate me.
My biggest concern is him getting a social justice warrior for his college admission interviewer.
I have a great relationship with my parents.
Libertarianism flows pretty easily from “don’t hurt people or take their stuff.” It’s a concept that most children understand, but many people forget once they reach adulthood.
I think that, if you really want to know, perhaps you should go to TOS and ask Ken, instead of putting words in his mouth and then asking other people to also put words in his mouth.
But that’s just me.
“Yeah, Doc? I think you might want to use a bigger needle to draw blood today, it might be a little thick. And my triglycerides might be a bit high you see because this was a Division Playoff weekend. My intake yesterday consisted of Poutine, smoked babyback ribs, beer and whiskey. I promise to be better starting today. Promise.”
– Me talking to my doctor in the morning.
I’m currently on the whiskey course. It’s amazing how being a little bit buzzed can transform bourbon into candy.
I see mine end of week, which is why Im giving my liver at least 7 days off
Try taking Liveraid vitamin tablets every day this week. Should give you a nice improvement on liver function tests, which are a pretty standard part of any doctor’s regular physical exam blood testing. Should be easy to find at any major pharmacy.
Why do people apologize to their doctors for doing unhealthy stuff? Also, why do people spend the week or month before a health check trying to get in shape? I go on a meth bender the week before my health checks so that the doc knows my bottom limit.
Oh, mine is fully aware of all my vices. Which is why Im hoping my weight-loss overshadows my total cholesterol, which I predict will be expressed in scientific notation.
If you’ve been doing keto, you may be surprised. When I started doing it, my cholesterol actually went down in spite of eating shitloads of fatty meat.
Yes, there are several good studies out there showing a low carb, high fat diet often reduces serum cholesterol and triglycerides. Remember it’s your body that makes the fat cholesterol in your blood, the fat and cholesterol in your food is broken down in your digestive system.
I don’t change my lifestyle before going in. I want to see what the real deal is, so that I know if I need to make minor adjustments before I have no choice but to make major adjustments.
Im doing the same, backwards. I know my triglycerides are really high, and thats with a nightly cocktail or 8.
Exactly.
I do rails off the nurse’s tits while I’m waiting for the doc to come in.
/Ill have what he’s having
Is your doctor accepting new patients?
I’ll pass on the rails but I’ve had a years long crush on the nurses tits. And the rest of her for that matter.
Young professionals leaving over high cost of housing

“They’ll move to a new area and vote for the same gov’t policies that cause higher housing costs.”
QFT.
Self-awareness is not a prog’s strong point.
There is that; and there is also the fact that lots of well-off young people moving into a concentrated area will raise prices. There’s more going on there than just stoopid voting patterns.
Supply and demand is MYTH!
People need to stop bitching and just quit using Twitter.
https://www.wweek.com/news/2019/01/11/portland-conservative-talk-radio-host-lars-larson-got-12-hour-twitter-ban-for-tweet-about-recent-police-shooting/
You know their ideology and that they’re not a neutral platform. Let them degenerate into a pure echo chamber. Who fucking cares.
Libertarians of a decade ago have a sad.
Because isn’t not actually about getting a desired result; it’s about bitching, and whining, and owning the libs. “Conservative” is the new “Progressive”.
You know, something, something hunting monsters and staring into the abyss.
^^
Some of us have been saying for years that the right should use the tactics of the left. This is the result.
I’m reconsidering my opinion on the subject given how pathetic they’ve become.
Problem is the left has big business, the MSM, The Deep State, Academia, Teacher’s Unions, etc. on their side to give to use their bitching and whining to some practical effect.
And yet, Trump was elected, right-wing nationalist populism is on the rise pretty much everywhere. If the Left truly commands those colossi, it is clear that they have feet of clay.
True but I get the feeling that Trumpism has not exactly accomplished much or anything long-term. I get the feeling that in 2020 the US will get far-left Democrats in full power which would mean Trump was just a flash-in-the-pan. Like Coolidge, the Do-Nothing Congress and Reaganism (the rhetorical kind that is).
2020 is too pessimistic, but 2024? A certainty.
I thought Weed, Mexicans, Ass-Sex and NAFTA would bring us the libertarian moment?
So does Donald Trump prove the Great Man Theory was right, sorta? That men are important than ideas? We were going to have the libertarian moment until Trump.
Personally I think the “We were going to have a libertarian Moment until Trump” is less proof of the Great Man theory but really that the Libertarian Moment was not in fact happening.
Well, there’s that little thing about the make up of the SCOTUS for a generation…
John Roberts says otherwise. Also court-packing.
There’s hardly ever been a 3 term party run. Only twice in a hundred years. The republican was gonna win unless he was a retard. If he was a retard, then he’d only win if the dem was evil incarnate. Here we are.
Stupid vs. Evil is one of the classic conflicts in
fictionreality. Here’s the thing: we’ve already seen what happens when a social platform goes full-prog. It’s called Tumblr. You know, the site that’s currently tying itself in knots trying to appease its un-appeasable users. They always eventually eat each other.
They did make their own platform. That got shut down.
This criticism is dumb.
I’m not suggesting they make their own platform; I’m suggesting either accept Twitter for what it is or get off it altogether. Its power only goes as far as its appeal. It’s pretty much universally known as a Left-wing platform so leave it alone. Why gripe about DU being a Left-wing message board? Just don’t use it.
Twitter undermines itself by doing stuff like this, let them punch themselves out.
Ever since Trump got elected the left has been more active in blocking people they disagree with from getting their message out. I think because Trump did not get his message out completely through normal channels, the left is trying to funnel all information through channels they control.
When I worked at an auto parts factory and a bad part would get to the customer, our managers would freak out and implement a bunch of rules to “guarantee that this would never happen again”.
The Left is in that mode right now. They view Trump’s victory as something that never should have happened, and their focus is on making sure that someone like him never wins again and that people never hear what he has to say.
The establishment republicans agree on that.
You’re paying a premium to live here: The cost of living has risen faster in Seattle than in any other American city.
Dammed Republicans and their total domination/control of metropolitan areas.
Yeah, they screwed up L.A. real bad too.
Heck man, they completely ruined the whole state of California. Is there no limit to their power?!
Police officers don’t scare easily.
Sure.
Shutdown Now the Longest as Trump Chuckles and Refuses to Back Down
Why is he wearing a mu-mu?
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
And I feel fine.
OMG how has the world not collapsed?
And if the Shutdown proof of the libertarian moment? I’m not sure how many people think that this proves that the government is too big rather than “why can’t they Get Things Done”?
“There’s plenty of money in the world, it’s just in the wrong hands.”
https://freebeacon.com/uncategorized/de-blasio-is-a-communist/
A staggering amount of stupid contained in a single sentence there.
LOL. He’s been running for president for most of his life. The good thing for the rest of the country is, he is a True Believer™ and therefore the damage he can cause is limited to the city where he managed to get out a whopping 17% of voters to support him.
Too local?

Fast food’ll kill ya.
As sweet mother of marketing. Is there anyway they could squeeze more ads into that webpage?
Holy shit. I have an ad-blocker which normally works really well and it does nothing on that page.
I use uBlock origin, and I didnt get any of the pop-up variety. Just a ton of them embedded like its the Thrifty Nickel paper.
Me too and I didn’t see any pop-ups when I turned it off. Whatever that site is doing to sneak all those ads through, they need to market that shit. ‘Cause I literally see almost no ads anywhere else.
So I saw on the news tonight, In Canada, how the Shutdown is really bad for air traffic controllers so Canadians are donating them food.
Also they reported on how the Saudis don’t like the Syria withdrawal. I guess we are supposed to listen to the Saudis again?
They are not missing paychecks.
If that is true then the media was being dishonest. Wouldn’t be surprised.
Well I guess it’s technically true, but also dishonest. There are some TSA members (nonessential) and some people who are part of the air traffic controllers union no longer getting paychecks.
All TSA security agents, sky marshalls, and essential tower traffic controllers are working as normal.
Finally home. Time for beer. I’ll check out the damn car tomorrow. GREAT GRAND WONDERFUL!
Look on the bright side… oh, wait, Never mind.
Sorry, homie.
The bright side it died this morning when I was going to work at 11am, and not yesterday when I was going to work at 5am.
Good luck with the car. Have them check the thermostat first.
Compression my friend
First, pull the codes.
coolant in the oil, or the other way around is a good indicator….so is steam from your exhaust
Guess the “check the themostat” running joke doesn’t work in this case.
Bummer
I suppose now that I’m home with a keyboard, I can give a bit more details. It seemed to start Friday on my way to work, went through a drive through that took too damn long (15 minutes! ASsholes). The car has had problems with getting a rough idle when it sat still running for too long, so I always tried not to. I could by the time I got up to the window finally I thought I could smell antifreeze, switched my readout to check engine temp was in upper 180s traveled to about 190 and shut the car off.
Work was just a few blocks away, so after I got my food I drove there and as I parked the oil pressure light flashed (didn’t stay on) before I shut it off. Checked oil and radiator overflow after work, both had decent levels. Drove home, drove to work the next day no issue. I was going to take it in to get checked this week or next.
Left for work this morning, all was fine. As I went to get on the highway I thought I heard it knocking, turned down the radio and didn’t hear anything. Got on the highway and after I got up to speed I felt it lose some power, I planned to pull off next chance I got. As I put on the signal to get off the highway it started knocking bad, as I slowed down to get off I felt a ‘thunk’ as I turned off the highway the engine died.
Fun!
Yeah, never mind about the codes. That sounds pretty serious. Need to remove the plugs and see if it still spins. If it does, check for coolant coming out of the holes. Might have blown a head gasket and hydrolocked the motor. It don’t sound good. Good luck.
Didn’t smell or or see coolant when I checked the oil, I’ve had cracked heads and bad gaskets before. But it was late and I had an early morning. Just took a a quick today look because it was cold out there and I was worried about getting to work, making calls for a ride, but I thought I could see some oil near the bottom of the engine and a bit on the ground. I’ll survey the damage tomorrow. Don’t have a good feeling about it.
Bella decided to break a pane of glass to bark at things, now she’s limping with a cut, should be fine, stupid smart dog….
noting on the new season of true detective?
Sesason on finest tv made. season 2 a complete flop. Season 3? I have high ho;esbut low expectations.
Season one really surprised me because it revealed how talented Woody Harrelson is. We all knew the Lincoln spokesperson was good, but together with Woody they made it a tremendous series.
With the cold weather power-outage I experienced today (which, luckily, was only a few hours but the house temp dropped significantly) I am in the market for a means to heat the house in the event of a prolonged cold-weather power outage. Do any glibs have an opinion on this or any other ideas about keeping one’s home warm when the grid is down? (The alternative I was thinking of involves a generator and electric heater because the generator would also be useful in a warm weather outage. But cash flow is an issue and there is a possibility of a significant snowstorm here next week.)
I burn tires in the house when the furnace doesn’t work. Libertopia bitches.
Those kerosene heaters are really popular here because of the lack of central heating. They really crank out the heat and the gas isn’t very expensive. I can’t see why not use one except for the fire hazard.
When I was a kid (70’s) everyone had one of those, we had more power outages back then, I remember many nights with friends and family huddled around one in the living room, great times.
#metoo
I was stationed in the Azores when in the service and Aladdin brand kerosene heaters were widely used. The claim was that the blue flame of the Aladdin brand was safe for indoor use (implying that the yellow-flamed competitors were not). I still kept a window open while using them.
Something using a bottle of propane might be another alternative.
In fact, it occurs to me that in a pinch you could bring your gas grille inside for heat.
Not charcoal, though!!!
Looks like it would heat a couple-three rooms, but your pipes would still be in danger of freezing if it gets too cold.
Out door wood burning furnace https://imgur.com/a/mRye3
This how I heat my house all winter. It’s a wood burning furnace that heats a tank of water. The water is circulated through a radiator that I put in my duct work. I have a thermostat installed that kicks on my central A/C blower when the house temp drops below set point.
It would not work with no power, but a very very small generator would supply enough juice to run them water pump and the blower fan.
I love it. It heats my entire house all winter to whatever temp I want no matter how cold it gets outside.
I’ve thought about getting one of these.
https://www.rocketheater.com
In our house, the natural gas flows in the system even during wide spread electrical outagaes. So we have a generator that runs part of the house including the electronics and fans of the furnace. The power can go out for weeks, but the house is safe.
Bottom story of the day.

Feminism: Let’s make ourselves as unattractive as possible.

Admittedly I’m no expert in this stuff… yet I find this particular claim hard to believe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_removal#History
Yea, it’s definitely older than that.
I think it’s an exaggeration of gender differences (like many gender-specific fashion habits). Men recognize less body hair as being feminine, and no body hair is viewed as ultra-feminine.
Yep. It’s not a mystery.
PS. That second picture is hilarious.
It don’t mind that. Close your eyes and imagine it’s a foursome.

Standard proglodyte “slavery is freedom” bullshit.
Make no mistake. The author’s visions of “reshaping society”, “flattening the peaks and valleys of power”, and “vigorous social action” means men with guns enforcing his or her preferred social mores. Because heaven knows that involves more freedom than people not liking other people or calling them mean names.
Spring semester starts tomorrow. Being a commuter, I don’t have many opportunities to meet people outside of class. This year my goal is to go to bars with friends.
I think my mom was as happy to get me out of the house as I was happy to leave. Like, five minutes later, she and my soon-to-be stepfather found a place in the country to retire to. It didn’t occur to me to until many years later that the reason she did that was to keep me in the good school I was attending.
My parents are in their mid 40s. They seem to like having me around. They’d be empty nesters if I moved out. Although it is weird to think that at my age my parents were married with 2 kids and a house of their own.
Heh, don’t take it the wrong way if it turns out that’s what they want.
This year my goal is to go to bars with friends.
Same.
That’s a great New Year’s resolution.
Thanks! Your resolution posts were part of inspiration.
Very Wisconsinable of you.
We need another HM around here. I imagine it going like this.
The History of the Second Amendment
Fuck, dudes, I’m having a problem: which is the better guitar solo: <ahref="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fAQhSRLQnM"<Knopfler or Schenker? They’re both frickin’ incredible, but I could use input.
Dammit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP5ikQpTR3c
Knopfler for me, but I can’t fault anyone picking Schenker. K’s is more economical and ‘tight’ for lack of a better term, it only lasts for 30 seconds or so but has as much impact as S’s which takes a couple minutes and has more backing (drums/bass) pushing it along, S may get a little speedier with the picking and runs through a few more riffs but again he has more time and the pacing of the song gives it more perceived power. Trying to think of a heavier DS/MK song that might be a better comparison but nothing off the top of my head, I’ll give a run through my CD’s tomorrow and let you know if I find what I’m thinking of.
Hyp – thx for the write-up – no sarc – good to read
After a quick look, I was wrong DS/MK doesn’t really have many heavy songs in the UFO vein. I was thinking of something like the outro of Telegraph Road or Speedway at Nazareth, still slower/lighter songs than UFO but they get that slow burn into a driving/heavier thing at the end.
‘kay. You’re gonna have to gimme an intro to that.
Also. Rock Bottom shreds. F’in great song.
Agreed, and I’d say that’s the difference, Knopfler may be a hell of a guitarist but shredding really isn’t in his bag of tricks. They may be both considered Rock but it’s two different styles, not as extreme as comparing Walter Becker to Angus Young but not really apples to apples either.
Knopler ain’t bad, but he’s no Mike Schenker. I vote UFO unreservedly!
Thx, blackjack.Appreciate it.
Note: I used to have all of Shencker’s solo album on vinyl. //////not that I was a massive fan or anything. That being said, Knopfler’s solo (in that song) is incredible, or I wouldn’t have asked the question.
I have completed a 2-day rope intensive. 16 yours of doing rope bondage and suspensions, learning new techniques w/ the girlfriend. Come home to the wife having made chilli-mac. Life is good.
(is it stealth bragging if there’s no stealth to it?)
I took a week long course a few years ago on confined space rescue. Part of it was ropes and rigging.
I learned a few thing about making harnesses suitable to extract an incapacitated individual from a dangerous situation and about rigging lift systems.
It’s a bit of a different field, but I bet some of the knots used are similiar.
I appreciate your posts as our resident pervert. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I know from doing rock climbing that some harnesses we use for rope suspension imitate what a climbing harness does; rope around the wasit, hips and upper thighs. Do you happen to have notes on how to make the ones from your class? I’d be interested in learning them. One of the fun things about rope bondage is that once you know a couple of basic knots and frictions, and some fundamentals of how it all works together you can do some pretty amazing things. I imagine rescue rigging uses much thicker rope. Shibari typically uses 5mm – 6mm jute.
I couldn’t tell you about rope sizes, only load capacity. The rope we used was braided nylon that was all rated at 10,000 pounds.
Probably a little more bulky that what you would use to tie up a sexual partner. Maybe. Because I dont know. Maybe that’s what yall are into because kinks are specific to the individual and as far as I k ow some of yall kinksters wanna be tied up with 10,000 pound rated rope.
Yeah. That’s climbing rope. It’s typically 4-6x as thick as what we use. There are whole debates about natural fibers versus synthetics. No human activity seems to be free from such things.
Was the class for outdoor skills or BDSM play?
I’m not into rope bondage or threesomes, so brag away.

I’m still convinced that cody Wilson unwitting broke the law and that the state is after him for having the audacity to provide a budding technology that may eventually make their attempts at full on gun control impossible.
It is ‘odd’ how many enemies of the state are sought after for Sexx Laws. Maybe they’re all just perverts, or maybe it’s a ‘by any means necessary’ approach. either way good song.
Yeah I’m on the fence whether bitch set him up or not.
Has Wilson made that claim? From what I can tell he’s been quiet since his arrest.
From what I have read, the only thing that he has said is an announcement from his attorney that he believed the girl to be of age and the sex consensual.
That’s wise of him. If I were in his situation, i wouldn’t say shit.
Agreed. Wait and see.

Also, this is what freedom looks like.
If we had wild hogs here I might actually be in to hunting. Nothing wrong with venison, but it ain’t got nothing on pork.
Ho. Lee. Shit. I would not care to try to kill a hog with a knife. The machine gun from a helicopter thing sounds more my speed.
I bet the pigs feel the same way, Suthen (i think) posted some videos of guys dog/knife hunting, I’m no PETA bleeding heart, and I know that life in nature is nasty brutish and short but it seems needlessly cruel to sick a pack of dogs on a pig to tire it out then stick it and let it bleed out. I’d much prefer a bullet to the head.
You may have a point. However. I’m my part of the world hog hunting with dogs is long standing tradition.
Hogs are hard to stalk. Dogs aid immensely in this. If one wants to kill a pig, the options are limited. A feeder and a stalk works, but it takes a well placed shot to bring down a pig ethically.
Pigs have a hard skull that is resistant to most hunting rounds. They also have a hell of a constitution. A lung shot pig will survive long enough to run away far enough that you cant find him and die. A heart shot log will die very soon, but making that shot is difficult. A head shot pig will most likely have its skull deflect the bullet, and then will run off and maybe survive and maybe die of an infection a week later.
All that said.
If it’s a given that you want to kill a pig, running it to the point of exhaustion and then knifing it is not the most inhumane way.
Q: Anyone use FIOS?
Doing some research – it’s available in a 2-block radius of me. It’s not available on my block. WTF?
Eh, not much to add. Verizon’s FIOS deployment wasn’t a 100% even before it lost favor and petered out. Could be any number of reasons why it didn’t make it to your block: construction cost or blocked access from the building owners would be the usual ones. Is there a preferred provider for your building by any chance?
Never heard of such a thing. Time-Warner was the only option for many years around here.
I only ask because it sounds faster and cheaper than what I have, and I need that. I want to cut the cord but not if I have to stay with the same provider.
Eh, will ask tomorrow when more folks are aournd. Tks
We went from Cablevision to Verizon FIOS when we left Brooklyn and really couldn’t be happier with both the service and the support. The internet speed (500/500 for us) and capacity is amazing; we have 3 televisions, 4 tablets, several phones, several laptops, a camera system, a couple desktop PCs (1 of which is a 24/7 media server/downloader), and any number of wifi devices with no performance degradation at all. There is some sort of FedGov subsidy that makes it less expensive (to the customer) if we include an old POTS landline (which has been used, quite literally, 3 times in 8 years; all faxes). It’s pricey but we find it worth it.
