And of course, all of it is totally outside of the Federal Government’s Constitutional authority.

I would assume (hope?) that the SCOTUS would eventually overturn it, but just imagine how much damage could be done until that eventually happens.
We need an amendment that gives the constitution some teeth, such as permanently barring anyone who votes in favor of a bill which any part of is later found unconstitutional by SCOTUS from ever holding public office again, elected or appointed. They should also be barred from personally meeting with anyone employed in the public sector to ensure they can’t lobby for more unconditional crap.
The second amendment is the one that is supposed to give the constitution teeth and protect the other amendments from infringement, but that ship sailed a long time back.
The 9th and 10th amendments were supposed to set up an adversarial sovereignty system where states reined in the fedgov and vice versa. Party politics screwed that up from the get go, and Lincoln did a number on the states, too.

Is the PineBook a decent internet machine?
Also, I heard there is a PineBook Pro coming this year, but no one knows when.
The distro it ships with is a bit shitty (KDE Neon with an ancient 3.10 series kernel because the binary blobs aren’t compatible with 4.x) . Full KDE Plasma 5 on that hardware is not optimal. However, there’s a bunch of alternatives. I’m using the Manjaro aarch64 build for it, since I run Manjaro on my desktop and notebook anyway. LXQt runs a lot zippier, and you can get on a mainline kernel. Sound works on 4.19, it’s broken on 4.20. Everything else works.
It’s a dandy little internet machine for the most part. A few very quirky key placements that make terminal work kind of a bitch, but pointy clicky stuff is fine. The PineBook Pro is likely out around Q4 along with the PinePhone.
Worth mentioning that the microSD card slot is bootable, so you can test drive as many distros as you want without touching the stock config. When you find one you like you can dd the image to the eMMC and then expand after a reboot to fill the entire space.
Thank you very much. I know unix and I’m comfortable with MacOS command line (it’s basically BSD with some Mac-only shit), but I’ve never used linux on my own machine. So trying to sort out all the different distributions and desktops to figure out the best one seems like I full-time job.
If you’re used to Unix/BSD there’s not much of a learning curve, especially not for a system like this where you aren’t digging around under the hood very much as a matter of course.
There’s only about a half dozen usable distros for the Pinebook, so it’s not as overwhelming as you might think. Pine actually has their own installer that will automagically download and flash an image to your SD card for several different prebuilt distros. Otherwise you can just use Etcher, Rufus or the venerable dd to flash an image to your SD card. Plug it in, turn on the Pinebook and it boots to the OS on the microSD. If you want to move the installation onto the built-in eMMC and overwrite the stock install, just copy the image you downloaded to a USB thumb drive, boot from the microSD, open a terminal and sudo dd if=/path/to/distro.img of=/dev/mmcblk2. Manjaro’s good, but it’s a rolling release, so you’re liable to sometimes break shit. Q4OS is good for minimal resource consumption and stability.
Also, you may find this review useful if you’re on the fence. For 99 bucks it’s hard to complain too much – it’s a fun little machine to fuck around with and learn on if nothing else.
