Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! What a glorious morning it is for everyone but hard core Russia Truthers who are still dumbfounded.
Ignoring all the “journalists” who got it wrong, and focusing on the ones who got it right, investigative journalist, John Solomon, who is consistently ahead of everyone regarding the Russia hoax, claims two intelligence agents came to his home years ago telling him that the IC’s spying apparatus was used for political purposes.
SCOTUS affirms Alaska’s authority over its own navigable waters.
I’ll admit, this made me laugh.
Some animals are more equal than others.
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
My links arrived late and were cold, two stars.
And what small portions too!
The Kvetch is half off this week.
You’re lucky you don’t get a cat-butting.
Eh. Not quite that level.
Cow butt then?
What do you know about levels, you’re neutral.
BACON!
MAGICAL!
Like this one?!!!
LEVEL = SWISS BROWN
That is an assault farter. You will be reported to Empress Cortez post haste.
The end of Obamacare?
Hopefully, but I am skeptical on the grounds that the GOP doesn’t have any backbone.
And it never should have held up anyway. You can’t call it a tax and uphold it if it originated in the Senate. Fucking John Roberts (and the other activist justices…)
Roberts deserves to get shafted by both karma and history for this shit. Given the level of criminal activity in the mafia-like Obama administration, I wonder if Roberts was visited by some goons with some incriminating evidence that swayed him to do the shit he did. Then again, the guy could simply be the nanny-state pushing cunt he looks to be after this and several other rulings that make people scratch their heads about his supposed conservative or constitutional rulings.
They threatened to bring out some crazy chick that thought his clumsy attempt to get to second base was rape.
Inquiring minds want to know if he talked about boofing or drinking a lot and if Avenatti had some skank he would roll out that would claim Roberts kept licking her toes and pulling his pud too…
John Roberts will get on his trusty steed and come and save it.
Wielding his mighty Sword of Deference!
Our society is too litigious.
It is not accidental that one of the army of old lawyers that I see when working out at the gym in the AM told me this morning that the new American dream is a lawsuit that lands you big money?
You…uh, got a hot tip on one??!
Claim some evil doctor made you take too many Oxycontin pills, and now you run around telling people you will suck their dick for a pill or two or money to buy some, and it has broken you and requires a big payout?
Alex, if it isn’t a lawsuit, it’s dreams of winning the lottery.
Actually going out and earning money is way, way down the list.
Look, I can work towards earning money and dream of winning money at the same time. They’re not mutually exclusive (though earning is more likely to happen according to my back account)
I am doing the “going out and working to earn money” bit, but admit I am working way harder than what I am getting paid for. I also buy a recurring quick pick for Powerball on the odd chance the gods want to curse me with that problem some day. But despite having a couple of occasions where I could have sued myself into some wealth, I have declined that version of the American dream. Maybe I am stupid.
If anything it’s probably substantially less litigious than a freer society would be, owing to huge legislative giveaways to the insurance industry, qualified immunity, and financial barriers to court access.
Is Florida Man jealous of Alaska Man’s hovercraft?
Meh… we have airboats. Airboats from which to hunt alligators. Although, I’m told Alaska’s mosquitoes are on par with some of the worst parts of the Everglades.
A fanboat is no hovercraft…and wouldn’t Florida Man prefer a hovercraft, the better not to collide with manatees?
By “collide”, do you mean Florida-man does the STEVE SMITH with the manatee?
Actual footage of Florida Man.
The photo-filter background style bugs me. It just doesn’t fit with the drawn foreground characters.
Look at me, I’m de captain now.
Mosquitoes up north are a completely different animal. The everglades has nothing on mosquito season in tundra country.
The difference being that we have them year round down here and they have them for a couple of months.
>>SCOTUS affirms Alaska’s authority over its own navigable waters.
If a man can’t drive his hovercraft in Alaska, then what’s the point of living?
“Whatever information (Barr) just received from Robert Mueller about the president’s behavior as it pertains to potential criminal obstruction of justice, Barr could have just passed that information onto (Congress) for them to decide what to do with it,” Maddow said on her MSNBC program Monday night. “But instead, somewhat inexplicably, he decided to take it upon himself to declare definitively, ‘Yeah, you know, I looked at all that stuff, and I can tell you there is no crime there, it’s fine.'”
She added, “Where did this come from? I mean, on what grounds are you saying that you have concluded there is no crime here?”
What happened to the “reasonable prosecutor” test?
If Rachel Maddow is your intellectual powerhouse, you’re doomed.
>>could have just passed that information onto (Congress) for them to decide what to do with it
Just like Comey did with Hillary?
Nice one. Especially after Lynch at the DOJ told him Obama had already made it clear there would be no charges and Hillary was to be absolved of the criminal activities cause he was not interested in Hillary throwing him under the bus if they had to actually follow the law and lock her ugly ass up.
“If Rachel Maddow is your intellectual powerhouse, you’re doomed.”
AOC ! AOC!
I have an old work friend who keeps posting about how smart she is.
Did you work with mentally handicapped folks?
I don’t think he’s dumb, so much as deluded by partisanship.
I admit to be partisan, but I like to think I respond to the idiots on my side by admitting they’re not too bright. I just have a hard time seeing being blinded enough by team loyalty to call a skull emptier than a rotten coconut ‘smart’.
Tell her that she makes Dan Quale, who was basically given a raw deal by a biased media who spend all its time trying to find ways to make him look stupid and now is spending all of its time trying to make AOC look like she isn’t a fucking moron, look like a member of Mensa.
I actually think Maddow is fairly bright and knows that everything she says is a lie. (Her audience are all retards). Don Lemon on the other hand is a box of rocks.
I thought he was talking about Karla Marx.
She’s a carnival barker who knows her audience. This way to the egress, gentlemen.
Only $.25 to see the egress!
Does she shave her egress?
If there was a crime, Mueller would have 1) leaked evidence of it and 2) recommended impeachment*.
*Because you can’t indict a sitting president.
^^^THIS^^^
If there was even an odd chance they could make any of their lies stick, or had found anything even remotely likely to allow the moron brigade to actually proceed with this coup, it would have been leaked, and we would have the political party desperately trying to reverse the results of the election they though they had rigged for Clinton, trying to impeach Trump. This report was devastating to the coup-crowds. But they have to keep the sham going, because if they let up, they risk that the focus will shift to the real criminal activities of the Obama administration on behalf of the Clinton campaign, especially the spying on her opponent, the rigging of the election, and a slew of other stuff that if not punished will basically lay the stage for the deep state to take this country into full banana republic mode (Obama only got us 2/3 of the way there).
Wow. Cognitive dissonance much?
After 2 years of stating, without evidence and without seeing the report, and unequivocally stating that he was guilty, she has the ovaries to criticize a guy who actually did read the report that exonerated trump from collusion charges?
And is that the longest sentence I’ve ever written?
She really is evil and deranged; it’s not stupidity or ignorance that bring about these statements. I can understand you’re average person who has a job and a family to deal with and can only devote a few minutes a day to politics, but this, yes, cunt, gets paid serious money and is given near unlimited resources and still peddles these lies and distortions. Fuck her and that network and the puppet masters behind her.
And fuck my 2 grammatical errors.
Well….if I must….
*unzips*
* narrows gaze *
Who knew Switzy had a GEILF fetish?
I think I clicked too many HM links.
To be fair, it isn’t necessarily evil and deranged if cognitive dissonance is involved, as her mind searches desperately to not abandon long cherished beliefs in the face of a huge slap of reality. It’s why my wife and I pretty much avoid talking about politics, since the discussions have a hard time staying civil.
Solipsism? After all, these are the people that believe their pipe-dreams of making socialism work will magically overcome the laws of human nature, economics, or physics, just to name a few, and somehow not devolve into the tyrannical failures we have seen for the last 100 plus years.
Because I’m sure Mueller would continue to remain silent if Barr was misrepresenting his report.
That guy’s name bugs me. If the family had just dropped the umlaut I’d see pronouncing it as ‘Mull-er’, but they traded the umlaut for an e, which says it’s supposed to be ‘Mew-ler’.
Technically, no. English doesn’t have the sound represented by the German ü.
But since when does ‘Muel’ sound like ‘Mull’?
It doesn’t. We have an entire district here in Austin called Mueller, and everyone pronounces it Mew-ler. Course, lots of people of German ancestry around here (thanks, FDR, for those WW2 incarcerations of German-Americans as well as Japanese-Americans), so plenty of help pronouncing stuff like that.
I think you’d have to thank Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels and the Adelsverein more than FDR.
And besides which, when anglicising, it doesn’t matter what the original pronunciation was. I just want the spelling to be consistant. Having the sound go one way and the spelling another bugs me.
Unfortunately you were born in an English speaking country, so you are doomed to constantly face this problem.
When compared to French or Gaelic, English is downright phonetic.
Gaellic is almost completely phonetic. You are confusing English ‘rules’ for what letters represent what sounds for inherent characteristics of the letters.
Since English is the one true language (having eaten the relevent components of the rest), the complete disconnect between the sounds those letters represent and the sounds gaelic speakers make stands.
I think there are potential issues with picking the language that can pronounce G for example as g, j,h, and silent, as the paradigm for phonetics.
It’s just all those bits of other languages we ate. Once we finish digesting them, it’ll clear up.
So you are saying English just needs a tums?
Quoi?
There’s a street a couple blocks away spelled “Boucher”, and in my head it’s always pronounced “Boo-SHAY”, like Bobby Boucher. Locals call it “BOW-cher”. Then again, I took French for about seven years.
Conversely, there’s a place in Louisiana we drive through when I’m at my in-laws in Texas and we’re on the way to Shreveport. They kept calling it “KEY-chai”, and I don’t know what I expected when I saw the sign but it’s spelled “Keatchie”. I’d seen it written and came up with pretty much every possible pronunciation but the one that’s actually used.
Taliaferro and Cholmondely are pronounced:
Tolliver and Chumley
Don’t get me wrong. I love English’s quirks, but it’s not a language it’s a puzzle.
The bad spelling comes from the fact those are clearly words in foreign.
Yeah it’s annoying. It makes him seem pretentious.
I knew a guy in High School who spelled his name that way and pronounced it “Miller”.
So did Goethe.
PS. The ‘e’ is actually the origin of the umlaut, after it became the practice to combine them by writing the ‘e’ over the ‘a’, ‘o’, or ‘u’.
Exactly. He’s had ample time to come forward and hasn’t. And it’s not like he’s a great friend of the administration.
Mueller himself is one of the people with a lot to lose considering he was part of that inner circle committing all sorts of criminal acts in the Obama administration.
I’m only happy that Ms McCain and all the ‘celebrities’ were not at my wedding. I wouldn’t be able to withstand the humiliation from all the Glibs

Reuters news apparently didn’t get the updates to not use the word “exonerate” in regards to anything. They were reporting on the Jussie Smollett case, and mentioned that he had been exonerated. So, no charges, not exonerated; charges dropped, exonerated.
/side note: Fuck Jussie Smollett for making me defend the gods damned Chicago Police.
This. The same damn people have had me defending Trump for almost 3 years now.
I agree with this:
The guy literally tried to start a race riot in a major city – then used his influence for a get-out-of-jail-free card. I do hope the Feds go after him for mailing the fake threats.
+1 Ferguson/hands up don’t shoot
I hope we get the details. From what I hear, this guy used connections to the Obama clan to exercise political pressure and have this slam-dunk case be dismissed. The lesson here is that if you are going to fake a hate crime, you only need to be semi-famous and connected to the left’s political machine, to get away with it.
Me, from now on, will assume any mention of “hate crime” is the lying media promoting another false story, until the evidence surfaces that it is otherwise.
Am I evil for hoping a few klansmen really do find him in an ally and beat the shit out of him?
Well, if he’s doing that to an ally of the klan, he might be asking for it.

It’s in the game!
They should use that idea from that Tom Cruise movie about law enforcement using psychics to prevent crimes in a future DC, and pay the two brothers to go real beat the shit out of Smollet, then claiming is is a loop effect and can be ignored.
Probably a bit.
I do that already, and it’s incredibly accurate.
Mornin’, Banjos and Glibs!

It smells like ass in here.
Bully! Someone get me a lawyer!
Since I cut out carbs a few weeks ago, I’ve noticed that gas is far less frequent, but far more potent.
It’s a fascinating type of diet. I once lost 25 pounds in 4 months just by cutting out bread, beer, potatoes, rice and sugary stuff. Note that if you must have a beer, Guiness has the least Carbs
What about the gas? We were discussing gas diffusion…
Even better: liquor is carb free
Love the stuff, but it always makes me hungry for the worst sort of food…
Mornin’, Slammer! You ready for you quarterly review?
*sits on Slammer’s head and rips ass*
I heard that!
WikiLeaks, which released documents hacked by Russian operatives from the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 campaign, retweeted a comment reading, “In anything resembling a sane world, Rachel Maddow would be unloading her desk into a cardboard box today.”
More like putting stuff into cardboard boxes in an Amazon fulfillment center.
You know that sooner or later every one of these hucksters is going to play the “I’m an entertainer, not a journalist” card.
The human cue-ball and CNN resident eunuch still maintains that he is a journalist who is only interested in facts. These people have no shame.
Have been saying that for over a decade. For some reason I am surprised so many people are only now catching on that these people are political operatives willing to sell their soul to shill for the marxist movement and the party peddling it.
Trump Department Of Education Wants To Defund The Special Olympics
“Let me just say that I think Special Olympics is an awesome organization,” DeVos replied, before noting that it was “well-supported by the philanthropic sector.”
And it is true, as it happens, that the Special Olympics is well-supported by private donations, as well as by some of the largest corporations and richest philanthropic foundations in the world. Its combined global revenue, according to the organization’s 2017 Reach Report, was around $429 million. You can even donate to the Special Olympics yourself if you so desire; DeVos, a billionaire, pledged to donate a quarter of her $199,700 government salary—that is, just under $50,000—to the organization in 2018.
Nothing left to cut, rinse, repeat.

Its combined global revenue, according to the organization’s 2017 Reach Report, was around $429 million.
Dang, that’s huge. Almost makes me think there’s some graft involved, as I can’t imagine spending that much money on those Olympics. Maybe I’m just underestimating the cost of athletics, but that just seems like too much. Cutting federal funds is the right move, even if it will make for bad headlines.
I used to do some volunteering with the SO. Back then…(early 2000s?) I thought it was a great organization with a great mission. Not so sure anymore. Maybe I am heartless, but they started expanding to sports like golf, skiing, kayaking. and snowshoeing which is completely over the top IMO.
May I be the first to commend you on your choice of avatar pic ?
Thanks! After discussing the banana dance gif yesterday, it struck me that a still from it would make a good avatar.
Department of Education …. Special Olympics….
*Struggling to find the connection*
Why is the Dept. of Education giving money to the Special Olympics? I’m totally baffled.
I mean there is always the we-need-to-burn-some-money excuse. I suppose that’s it.

Foxx is another piece of work.
I have a feeling this isn’t over. Not very smart people.
They had the asshole red-handed…receipts, video, papers from the mail. I heard his statement on the matter and it made my blood boil. He is a shameless liar. CNN will probably offer him a job.
I suspect that the left HAD to get him off, or their whole narrative uber alles approach to these practically always faked hate crimes would be in real jeopardy. Consequences for lying would hurt the proggie agenda big-time.
I was floored that the fucker stood up there and claimed to be the victim.
The rot is beyond belief.
I hope the FBI looks into that letter he sent himself, and then throws his ass in jail for 20 years for that crime.
If Foxx was trying to get the FBI to take control of the case before the whole story collapsed, she must have had some confidence that the feebs would “handle the case correctly.” Assuming there is something to the Harris anti-lynching bill conspiracy theory, now there is even more motivation to bury the case before any embarrassing connections are made publicly obvious. Last I checked, nothing much has changed at the FBI; that is, they are still a nakedly partisan organization. Unless the USPS Postmaster General has some independent investigatory powers, I think the whole thing gets dropped and Smollett skates.
Well, if you must know…
The Postal Inspectors can do criminal investigations. There’s a reason you don’t fuck with the USPS:
Sounds like it’s not okay to be White at my old school. Ironic since there might have been 10 non-white students there back in my day.
“Sunday reading “IT’S OKAY TO BE WHITE,” a slogan devised almost two decades by neo-Nazis”
I was pretty sure it was a slogan developed by 4chan to show how even something as innocuous as affirming that being white was ok would be branded as racist.
?
Wouldn’t neo-Nazis say “it’s really good to be white”?
Or White is Always Right?
I think that’s the SJW standpoint. How else would you describe the concept of white privilege?
White makes might?
They’d they “It’s superior to be white.”
It was a 4chan plan. Along with the whole “okay” sign, nazi pepe, and drinking white milk. God bless those awful bastards at /pol/ for their autistic warfare.
Also, free bleeding.
If you can swap any other demographic into the sign and have it stop being racist the sign isn’t the problem.
Or if the sign is referring to a family name, since a large proportion of people with the surname White are African-American.
So, saying it’s okay to be white is disgusting and deplorable?
This is how you get more Trump.
Trump is the Gab of politics. Certain people in the household pin on Trump this idea that he’s normalizing racism. He isn’t; he’s the alternative to buying into Progressivism, one of the elements of which seems to be accepting the legitimacy of white privilege and acknowledging racial guilt. So, yeah, obviously you’re going to get white racists supporting him, but you’re also going to get people who aren’t racist but don’t buy into the “social justice” doctrine. What is it they say about stuff like Gab? If you advertise yourself as an open platform you’re going to get all the people who have been kicked out of other places for saying awful things, but that doesn’t mean that all the people or even most of the people on your platform are there to say awful things.
Which is a long way of saying that Trump continues to be a political figure who is willing to accept the support of anyone who doesn’t want to support the Progressive left, and that’s going to win him the next election.
A slogan devised by neo-nazis? Do they not realize the alternative is that it is NOT ok to be white? Who are the actual nazi’s here?
HARRIS SAYS SHE’S ‘COMPLETELY CONFUSED’ OVER SMOLLETT CHARGES
I, too, am confused as to how clear evidence of wrongdoing does not lead to prosecution.
“To be perfectly honest with you, Wolf, I’m completely confused. I don’t understand. I don’t know the underlying evidence. There’s a sealed document, obviously. I don’t know. I’m at a loss. I think we’re going to have to leave it up to the judgment of the prosecutor,” Harris answered. “I think we should leave it up to the judgment of the police chief and the mayor, of course, to give us some better sense of what’s going on. I don’t know.”
Blitzer responded, “If you’re confused, all of us are confused. And you heard Mayor Rahm Emanuel. He’s confused as well. And the Cook County prosecutor, he says didn’t even inform him or the police commissioner that they were to drop these charges.”
Harris answered:
But I think there’s a point that the mayor made that I would like to emphasize because I’m seeing it around the country and it’s a very real issue, which is the seriousness of hate crime. Over the last two years, we have seen a growth of hate crime, be it in terms of race, be it religion, anti-Semitic crime, Islamophobic crime, crimes against — that are born out of homophobia and transphobia. We have seen an increase around our country, and frankly around the world. And we cannot play games with it. We have to take it very seriously because it obviously can result in lethal consequences if we don’t take it seriously.
Consequences like inciting a race-riot because of a staged hate-crime?
“leave it up to the judgment of the prosecutor,”
You only who didn’t want to leave it to the …. Oh forget it.
It is not coincidental that the same people that influenced prosecutors to not charge Hillary Clinton for her criminal activities were involved in getting Smollet to skate on his…..
These people believe that the law applies only to the little people or those that politically disagree with them.
Over the last two years, we have seen a growth of hate crime
No, we haven’t, unless you want to count unverified reports that more often than not turn out to be hoaxes.
Or if you’re the SPLC and count number of hate groups, rather than individuals, and then use a really shaky definition of “hate” that arguably includes the SPLC.
Which I finally convinced my wife to stop donating to.
I’m calling bull shit.
Fake but accurate.
The going theory is that Eddie Johnson created a stink on live TV at the behest of Rahm Emanuel to poison the jury pool and give the state’s attorney room/reason to dismiss. By doing so, he guaranteed his reappointment which comes up next year.
THAT’S the theory I heard on Rush yesterday!
On a scale of 1-10 for the Chicago Way how credible is it?
I’m going to give it an 8. Any higher score requires a dead body.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say he wasn’t a huge fan of property rights.
I think he’d take umbridge at people violating his property.

It doesn’t have to make sense. It is like the “Republicans are Hitler” nonsense.
What they really want is more welfare and not just for those experiencing “extreme hardship”. They also want to stifle the economy with regulation and public/private partnerships, and they want social regimentation, limits on expression (i.e. thought-crime), mass-disarmament, mass-surveillance, etc. I think there is a word for this.
Gotta love how they play fast and loose with the facts. ‘You’re crazy! There are no socialists! We don’t want the means of production!’
Fricken illiberal, bloody, cowardly idiots.
They’re like Nurse Ratchet and the rest of us are Randle McMurphy.
They don’t want to control the means to production, just be the sole power that picks who wins and who loses in the game….
… inequality, which has been shown to impair economic growth
Citation needed.
There are actually plenty of studies that show a correlation between high inequality and weaker economic growth.
What none of those studies bother to look into is the causes of the inequality and how that impacts economic growth. When the inequality exists because say the country is a kleptocracy or the inequality is enshrined in law in some way then it is easy to see how that would impact growth negatively. When the inequality is a result of fair market competition not so much.
I’d argue that in the absence of those fair-market-barriers, inequality is the economic analog of a thermodynamic gradient that enables work/growth by driving competition.
Fair enough, but the phrasing implied causality, not mere correlation. I will concede that it can be a symptom of something gone wrong, especially if the inequality is bimodal and not a spectrum.
Lets see…
Market Economy – Check, sure we aren’t anywhere near as close to a market economy as the most successful European countries but we still qualify here
Strong Social Safety net – Check, it isn’t a particularly well designed or efficient social safety net but the US ranks behind only France among OECD countries in total social spending at 30% of GDP
Progressive Taxation – Check, largely because the US does not have a VAT or other national consumption the US has by a pretty significant margin the most progressive tax system in the OECD
So by their own argument the US is ALREADY a Social Democracy so what are they complaining about?
Farting is more of an assault.
My friend stayed with an indifferent smirk put on the couch slouched reading liner notes from an LP as we scattered. We returned and were horrified it still stank the air.

Democrats ignore a progressive foreign policy at their peril
Trump does’t seem to have a foreign policy per se, but the people who “know much” about foreign policy have fucked it up for decades, so there’s that.
He has good instincts on foreign policy but doesn’t know enough to innoculate himself against being talked out of good foreign policy (admittidely off the cuff) decisions.
Agreed. As to the quoted paragraphs, the public at large doesn’t really give much of a crap about foreign policy, leaving the door open for smooth-talking Kennedy School assholes to deftly explain why the U.S. needs to have a massive presence all over the globe. At no expense to the smooth-talkers.
It seems like foreign policy skill or expertise has been measured by how entangled the US can become at least since FDR, if not Wilson. I’d argue that’s either a bad metric or it’s measuring something you don’t actually want.
I wish peace were more than a political ploy, but ok.
And is he saying only white people seem to care about peace?
Obviously Trump is a racist dope that knows nothing and also a conniving evil villain that colludes with autocrats and dictators to start wars while striving for peace and eliminating enemies. I dare you to find one logical contradiction there.
Is it just me, or is she one more “x” in her name from having a pornstar name?
Since that is now on topic and related to links commentary:
SFW depiction of the alternate timeline Kim Foxxx (bonus: looks vaguely like Krysten Sinema)
Or, since real life Kim Foxx is African-American (still barely SFW)
I thought this never happened?
A women attacked by a man on the street – defends herself with a gun.
That gun is just laying low to strike back at that women later.
Sometimes that gun, you look right at it. Right into the barrel. Y’know the thing about a gun? it’s got… lifeless barrel, black barrel, like a doll’s eye. When it comes at ya, doesn’t seem to be livin’… until it shoots ya.
An interesting story I ran across about a guy who fasted over a year and went from 456 to 180 lbs and it actually looks like it was legit:
https://www.sciencealert.com/the-true-story-of-a-man-who-survived-without-any-food-for-382-days
Don’t try this at home though.
Whole lot safer to cut back to just one meal a day. That’s how I lost about 30, 40 pounds.
Looking at the medical journal publication that’s linked he went around 40 days on average between going to the can. For some reason I find that more impressive than the weight loss.
That’s how starvation works. The crew from the mutiny on the bounty who stayed loyal to the captain had the same phenomenon when they sailed back to civilization. The body goes into full panic survival mode and tries to use every bit of calories ingested.

Bee Gees star Sir Barry Gibb, 72, caught visiting sex shop in Florida
Damn, based on the picture Mrs. Gibb kinda got somethin’ goin’ on still. Hell, if you’re married to the same person for 50 years and still shopping for flavored condoms, you’re doing something right.
Judging from his expression in the photo at the top he’s kind of grossed out by the thought.
She looks pretty damn good for someone who’s at least in her late sixties.
What’s with the dance shoes?
You Should be Dancing?
SJWednesday: Barry Gibb Edition
With bonus vocabulary!
hmm… maybe just maybe men buy the most pornography.
Women buy an inordinate number of vibrators, but don’t necessarily go to a skeevy sex shop to get them. It’s almost like Amazon exists or something.
I suppose that depends on your definition of pornography.
Tell me, what is the essential difference between Penthouse Letters and a Harlequin Romance novel?
Yeah women buy at least as much if not more porn as men do, their porn just looks different and is WAY more socially acceptable
Obligatory
RE: Smollett. Without sounding too much like our resident “one true libertarian”, I take funny care. HRC had already made it clear that it you at wealthy and have politics favorable to those in power you can get away with pretty much anything. So yeah Smollett got away. He got away from a really stupid idea that everyone knows that he did.
I don’t really* care
They did Trump a huge favor with this one.
There are two types of justice, one for the connected, specifically Democratic machine connected, and one for everyone else.
I think it depends on venue too. Menendez is out walking around, but Kane, Palowski, Fattah, Williams, etc. all got jail time.
If you really wanted to put on a MAGA hat and beat the shit out of Smollett, now would be the time to do it. *Not inciting.
So, is this one of the Glibs? I know there’s a couple of you down in the Columbus area.
I didn’t think robc lived near Columbus.
Yeah, I am not that good.
I only sort of meant it that way, but it seems Annika’s plot thread in the story I mentioned yesterday has to do entirely with the courtly marriage market for nobility. It has nothing to do with the main plot of the yarn, but the saga continues.
Gohmert digs in on linking Democrats with Nazis, insisting that both are ‘socialist’
The Nazis kept the name – and everything else.
So in their minds rightWing = leftWing + killUntermensch.
Look, I’m fine if we call American socialists “bolsheviks”. In the end the name attached to their hatred doesn’t matter.
The name kinda does. I’d like the word “liberal” back, please.
“The Nazis kept the name but when they embarked on conquest and engaged in the mass murder of Jews, Gypsies and others, it was anything but a left-leaning party”
Sigh. The problem is you will never get them to nail down what they mean by right or left. If we go by economic policy, the Nazis were undoubtedly socialist.
Right = Evil
Left = Pure As The Driven Snow
That’s what they mean. It’s complete propaganda.
Let me rephrase:
Evil => Right
Left => Good
Well, sort of. It wasn’t Marxism by any means. It was a weird mishmash of capitalism and socialism, very heavily regulated with quite a bit of central planning.
Technically fascist, though that is arguably a subset of socialist.
Course, if you’re allowed to ostensibly keep your company private, but you have a Fuhrer who asserts the absolute right to make you produce anything he orders you to, that’s a de facto seizure of the means of production.
Take CalPERS, for example.
“but you have a Fuhrer who asserts the absolute right to make you produce anything he orders you to, that’s a de facto seizure of the means of production”
This is what I was getting at. You are the owner in name only. You have to get state approval for everything. That is socialism, just that they employed different means.
Which is my reasoning for making fascism a subset of socialism. Course, lotta push back against that epiphany, since that would mean the Left would have to own Nazism.
Socialism > Fascism > Nazism
Gohmert is correct. The revisionism is the left trying to claim the Nazis were not socialists.
They need someone that they can claim was more evil than the communist socialists….
It is the standard understanding of anyone who has ever read more than 5 words of the Nazi political platform.
For people who often try to claim that they aren’t socialists, they certainly do react with swift fury to protect the honor of socialism.
You’ve got some who are wary enough of the stench socialism has acquired via a massive body count to relabel it something else, and then the ones who feel they can slap “democratic” in front of it and get away with it because the other stuff wasn’t REAL socialism.
This fascinating article someone linked to yesterday about a socialist festival in Paris is full of quotes from socialists doing every variant of denial about where their bloody ideology leads to.
A recent History on Fire podcast discussed this. It was kind of a bummer because Daniel Bolleli (who does History on Fire) had Dan Carlin on as a guest. I love both of those guys when they talk about history, but they are both a bit too statist when they talk politics.
They both mocked the idea that Nazis were really socialists and the attempt to portray them as a left wing group. Their main contentions were, that any leftist sounding policies were simply lip service and that the Nazis really hated communists (I don’t get the second argument either).
I wish they’d address WHY the Nazis hated communists…..because Marxism was tainted by Judaism, having been theorized by the Jew Karl Marx.
Marxism also spread through the German ranks at the end of WW I, and became one of the convenient foils as to why they lost the war. And the Nazis were fighting for the same space as the Commies in the court of public opinion.
Exactly. And it was seen as an international movement, while Nazism was purely nationalistic.
Of course socialism always ends up being nationalistic in practice, but that’s conveniently ignored by useful idiots.
I am still listening to it.
I have a couple of counter arguments, based on their arguments:
1. There are only two left-right definitions that matter…the 1790s era French Assembly one, in which case I have no idea where to put anyone. And the 2019 one, which is arbitrary but valid. I see no reason to use the 1930s era definition today. By it, they are right, but they are stuck using that definition which is neither the original one nor the current one. Yes, in 1935 the Nazis were right wing and the Communists were left wing. But it isnt 1935 anymore, we can recategorize.
2. Modern leftists define libertarians as extreme right wing. The opposite of libertariansism is bolshevism. The opposite of libertarianism is fascism. Thus, both are left wing. Now, I dont accept the premise of libertarians being extreme right, but the left does, so they need to accept that therefore are opposites are on the left. Also, in the podcast, Carlin made the argument that Goldwater is start of the modern conservatism. As libertarianism is Goldwaterism ratcheted up a few notches, then he is accepting the lefts placement of libertarianism and thus has to accept Nazis as left wing.
QED bitch.
I think it just goes to show that something like the Nolan Chart is far more accurate than the French Assembly seating arrangements.
Point 1 was what I was sort of muttering throughout the podcast. Even those guys admitted that the old left/right measuring stick was bogus. Then they went on using those terms but never quite defining what exactly “right wing” meant and what checkboxes the Nazis ticked off.
*spoiler alert – the second half of the conversation is worse. They veer off into how important governments are. “Who will protect us from the big corporations?”
I have had literally the exact same argument with Ron Pattinson over the definition of IPAs. He knows way more beer history than me so he at one point says their is no definition because it has been all over the place historically, but then seems to want to stick to what it was when he started drinking beer.
He is both really right and really wrong, all at the same time.
Meanwhile, I am really wrong and really right, all at the same time. So you see why we have butted heads.
“Who will protect us from the big corporations?”
Let me guess. The same entity that protects the big corporations?
I place social/economic collectivism on the left and social/economic individualism on the right. Left to right: Communism/Socialism/Fascism => Democracy => Republicanism => Minarchy => Anarchy. If your spectrum has two sides, those sides necessarily have to be opposite.
Here you go.
“Yes, in 1935 the Nazis were right wing and the Communists were left wing.”
I’m not even sure that’s true. If anything, the Nazis were considered the lefter of two evils.
Nazis really hated communists
Two brands of collectivism. Each patently left wing.
The Protestants really hated the Catholics and they were both Christians
The Sunni really hated the Shia and they were both Muslims
The Rebels really hated the Yankees and they were both Americans
The Colonists really hated the Redcoats and they were both Brittish
Shall I go on?
The parties switched!
it was anything but a left-leaning party
Socialism is left-wing. Nazis are socialist. Nazis are left-wing.
French cops knock an old lady out for protesting.
At least they didn’t do the American cop method of first aid – cuff her and wait for death.
Looks like she had it coming, what with all that standing there and chanting slogans bullshit.
That’s not a standard understanding of Nazi ideology and Democrats quickly accused Gohmert of trying to rewrite and distort history.
*outright, prolonged laughter*
Count the ways this Minnesoda couple was fucked over by The Man.
No 4A violations there. Nope. Everything is good.
67 in a 65? F-U-C-K-Y-O-U……I would hope that bullshit would be laughed out of any court in America, but I wouldn’t be confident of it.
They also illegally changed lanes! And I’m sure that there is some proof of that (other than the cop’s say so).
Yeah, you would think that a decent defense lawyer could get the arrest tossed, but we all know better. The best that lawyer can do is get a better plea deal because of how flimsy that stop was.
Just once I want to see someone go scortched earth on a bogus traffic ticket with a justification of “Millions in defence, not a penny for tribute”. I know it wouldn’t set precedent or change anything, but I’d love to see it anyway.
My father has a good story about a crusty judge in my hometown roasting a new patrol cop in a DUI case.
The cop pulled over a chronic drunk driver one night. When the case was before the judge the cop said the reason he pulled him over was that he was driving the speed limit and at that time and place only someone drunk would be driving that slow.
The judge – according to the story – went ape shit on the cop and told him that he would not have the court try people for obeying the law.
I fought a ticket once. The judge went off on the cop.
Still found me guilty, using the “while you didn’t run that particular stop sign, I am sure you ran one somewhere” logic.
Which, you know, was true, but not the point.
The judge died a few months later, so I am calling it a win for me.
Nice judge.
I have a tendency to drive the limit when in unfamiliar jurisdictions, because I don’t know the margin of apathy. Around my home town, I know exactly how much the car needs to be above the limit to get pulled over. In other areas, I don’t have a clue.
#metoo The idea of getting popped in VA under their ridiculously Draconian speed laws scares me.
automatic license plate reader indicated the vehicle was suspected to be involved in drug trafficking
Buried lede. Wtf? Let me guess, it scanned a non local plate more than once, therefore must be drug running. Everyone involved in that BS abuse of rights should be warming a jail cell.
SJWednesday: Jungle Fever Edition
>>Sometimes that includes turning down a polite stranger who’s trying to flirt – no matter how respectful he is.
::scratches head:: damn if you do, damn if you don’t.
Oh you mean it’s okay for the “right” people to flirt with you.
t
That’s some serious denial of what’s going on there. If you don’t think white men are sexy, just fucking own it. No shame in liking what you like. Unless that’s about you not dating someone you are actually attracted to, but aren’t ready to enjoy a relationship with someone who is constantly challenging your worldview and vice versa.
That’s been a longstanding rule for women, generally. Sure she is wearing that low-cut top for attention, but maybe not for attention from you.
How about no?
Actually, how about ‘go fuck yourselves you worthless racist, sexist pieces of shit’?
I find it hilarious that the she doesn’t get that SHE is discriminating against those flirting with her from whom she doesn’t want the attention….
I still call bullshit on the “petting black women’s hair” thing. Who the hell touches a stranger’s hair?
I reflexively yank the hair of any black woman that passes me on the street. It’s a white thang.
It’s not a ‘white thang’ it’s a pathology of your own. That’s why you got exiled to the land of the rising sun.
Hasn’t solved my black hair fetish.
Let me know when you meet one in Japan.
I’ve never seen it.
Hair petting is not a thing in the US, the rest of the world, yes.
My wife has red hair and people would touch her hair on the combi in Peru
I’ve heard similar hair touching of black folks’ hair in Asia
Can confirm that my then 8 year old brother’s blonde hair was touched by several hundred strangers in China.
Not Thailand though – I’m pretty sure that touching someone’s head is a big no-no in Thailand. At least, that’s what they told us when we were there.
One of the soldiers in my old unit was from a tiny town in AZ and had never seen a black person in real life until he enlisted. He evinced that same sort of fascination for a bit. My ((wifey)) has had students (she teaches middle and high school in Brooklyn) ask her about her horns and her tail. The Other is often strange yet alluring.
When in radar school at NAS Pensacola, we occasionally would go to New Orleans on the weekends (way outta bounds, of course, but why now?). There was a group of us in my class who were friends, and we all went together one time. Riding in my car was a girl from a small town in Minnesota, and as we rolled around town, she was bug eyed – “Oh wow, almost everyone is black! I’ve never seen so many black people before” It wasn’t that she hadn’t known any black people, but it was one or two here and there. Being one of just a few white girls in a sea of black people was quite jarring to her.
Can confirm. Where I grew up, the nearest black people were in Fargo/Moorhead 50 miles away.
I needed some education on dumb things I thought when I got to boot camp from the dark green Marines.
On the other hand, growing up next to a ton of Indians made us pretty accustomed to dealing with them. It always amazes me the crap people who never grew up near a res think about the Noble Indian.
People are people. Go figure.
Yeah, I’ve got red hair too and have had many Koreans touch it without asking. Especially if I had a beard too.
(due to global climate change, my hair has become less red in the last 5 years or so)
White is less red.
According to my wife, there are still a few clueless people who will do that and not think it is wildly inappropriate.
Where does it happen and who are the culprets? I’ve lived in highly mixed neghborhoods my entire life, which may be why I have never seen this kind of behaviour.
No one has ever asked to touch my hair. Sad.
It’s rare. A black woman might have it happen maybe once or twice in a lifetime, especially in a place like a beauty salon where it might, to someone super clueless, seem like a safe venue to do it.
It’s like the strangers who have asked my wife’s mother how many fathers she had for her five children, who would never think to ask the same question of my mother, also with five children. The vast majority of people have some innocent, unintentional, unexamined racism that they picked up and don’t know they have because they haven’t had bullshit called on them yet. God knows I had every iteration of those pointed out to me over the course of the first year or so of dating my wife. My mother has had some cringeworthy moments with my wife.
I got my wife back, though, when she told me to always separate the colored from the white clothes before washing.
You let your wife talk back to you? In your own home?
Do you even shitlord?
Well, if you call it “having an interesting conversation” rather than “talking back”, it seems less shameful. 😉
Technically, she is listed as the sole owner on the house deed, though in a couple of days we’re moving into a house where I’ll be listed as the sole owner. So, if I wanted to not have sex any more, telling her not to talk back to me in my own home would be an excellent way of achieving that goal.
Uffda. I’m totes posturing dude. My wife runs our house with an iron fist. Her nickname is FFOT (Five Feet of Terror).
When I was picking through the Asian gals on that boat, I didn’t realize that some were defective and would not be totally subservient to their husband. Buyer beware I guess.
OK, THAT I believe, that it happens a few times in a life. It’s the frequency such articles claim that seems absurd.
Black women are permitted to form stereotypes of whites based on a couple of bad, yet fairly innocent, interactions. But don’t you dare form any stereotypes of your own based on cultural interactions.
The cognitive dissonance is pervasive.
People say crazy shit about race to me all the time. They gawk at my wife and me. Just smile and ignore it. “Can I touch your hair?” “No.” I fail to see the big deal.
“Can I touch your hair”
Yes, pubes only.
Infants like to grab onto my beard. Does that count? And when I had long hair, I would have some women ask if they could touch it.
In my salad days, people at bars and clubs would frequently touch my shaved head. I need to figure out how to weaponize this.
Neural stint from scalp to glans.
All whites are racists that find black peoples hair so intriguing that they can’t resist touching it. This is known.
Biden?
Again with the hair touching.
I just can’t help myself. It’s like you and the pantie sniffing.
Is pantie sniffing not cool?
Oh, and if you feel you have “jungle fever” or “yellow fever”, DO NOT use that phrase when chatting up such women you want to date, or even mention that you are exclusively attracted to women of that single ethnicity. Just don’t.
So that’s what I’ve been doing wrong.
*burns Mulatto Fever t-shirt*
I have heard this claim, but never seen it happen. OTOH, people still think it’s okay to just randomly touch a pregnant woman’s belly as if she belongs to everybody, and I have seen that.
If I’m paying for it’s education I think I deserve a few fetus-kicks in return.
Well played…
Yeah, that’s weird, but it tends to be old biddies who are doing the touching.
I’ve never asked to touch a pregnant woman’s belly… I simply reach around and take what I want.
For instance, society has objectified Black women to the point that we frequently have people – strangers included – trying to pet our hair like we’re exotic animals.
Bullshit.
Come and get it!
European Parliament adopts copyright reform in blow to big tech
““I think what the ultimate result will be that the internet will become more like cable television,” Reda told AFP.”
So Europe repealed Net Nuetrality too?
Seems like this would be a boon for established social media platforms. The barriers to entry have increased pretty considerably with this new rule
Yeah, it’s more a blow to small (alt) tech. Google, Facebook, et al will be just fine. Finer even.
And that’s probably the plan here. Easier to control the internet when you have a few gatekeepers.
Does YouTube not already do this? I have to make sure to pause whatever’s streaming in the background before I take any vid I intend to post, or else a snippet of an intro theme gets my shit flagged and I can’t share it.
And forget the laser-oscope vid that used 30secs of Sublime as the test audio.
Too lazy to read. Apple is going into the financial services business?
That sounds… iffy.
they render it as “iFfy”, but yeah.
I just realized that the whataburger link was the wrong one. This was suppose to be it. Son of a bitch.
I would have told you except I don’t click the links.
There were links?
(JK Banjos, it’s a joke)
Meh, you don’t read our links, we ignore your criticisms. It all balances out. Much like a 10+ year marriage.
And then the gloves came off.
There are criticisms? I just assume they are ironic compliments by people who are too afraid to admit the depths of their admiration.
Some people care. They don’t have the hip, ironic distance of the truly dead inside like me and you.
Much like a 10+ year marriage, you put words in my mouth. I read the links, I don’t click on them.
I love you dear.
Somebody’s gonna get sued
Once again Minnesoda laps the field when it comes to wokeness.
The climate movement needs more people like me
Environmental Justice movement.
What in the actual fuck?
“Extortion Racket”
Damn, no shit:

Arty shells loaded with DDT to help eradicate the mosquito menace?
No, you’re an idiot kid that’s an idiot because you don’t realize it.
Thank doG the media didn’t use kids as shills for their various causes when I was young, dumb and full of cum because I would be embarrassed beyond belief if I read shit like this about me now.
I wonder how long it will take this gal to get her life in order, grow up and stop being such a knucklehead.
Adults never encouraged me to speak up when I was a teen. Too bad that tradition is toast.
“Thank doG the media didn’t use kids as shills ”
Hey let’s be fair, the Media is willing to attack and vilify a kid who crossed them.
It’s almost like they are populated by people still living in high school.
Oh good, it’s been several days since a fucking teenager lectured me, I’m overdue for a good talking to!
“I am a black muslim woman in the environmental justice movement.”
You have to be part of the cult to understand how any of this is significant to a discussion of climate change.
Big Brother loves you, and wants you to be happy and well nourished.
It’s properly unsettling when we hear about the latest mass food recalls, but so far the voluntary avocado recall by the Henry Avocado Corporation Monday is an example of a “good” type of recall: the bug listeria monocytogenes was caught through a routine government inspection, and as yet there are no reported deaths or illnesses.
Mass recalls of our wholesome fruits and vegetables like the avocado on Saturday and romaine lettuce just months ago are a reminder, but also something of a wake-up call.
The reminder is that we are all fundamentally reliant on good regulatory oversight (our well-used tax dollars at work) and good corporate management in the food sector. The wake-up call? Depending on a complex web of food production, delivery and mass retail sale — rather than well-stocked local sources — for what is on our plate every day is distinctly unnatural and makes us vulnerable.
———-
We should all hate that we’re vulnerable to mass infections spread by our food system rapidly delivering contaminated product across the country. But where to manifest our disgust is a thornier problem.
A strong takeaway from bacterial outbreaks is this: We need a strong FDA, USDA and CDC out there working in our best interests, and those agencies all operate on tax dollars. With tax day around the corner, think about that fringe benefit the next time you miraculously avoid a bloody diarrhea attributable to your salad, trucked in from parts unknown.
Wipe your chin.
:eyeroll: does anyone get tired if this argument? Like you would think they would get tired and realize how stupid it is.
If you’re still laboring under the impression that government is full of good people who do good things, reflexive statism like this would make sense, and realizing the absurdity of the coercion they’re advocating for “your own good” is counterintuitive and hard.
Depending on a complex web of food production, delivery and mass retail sale — rather than well-stocked local sources — for what is on our plate every day is distinctly unnatural and makes us vulnerable.
Wait. What? Are you trying to tell me that I’m more vulnerable having food . provided by farmers all over the globe, than I would be if I only ate food from farmers a wagon ride away from me?
I would have guessed that a global event that is so severe it can disrupt trade is a lot less likely than a local drought (or crop failure).
And I bet that locally grown crop will cost a lot more for you too… Especially if you want avocados grown in Alaska…
In my experience in industrial food production, I can say with great confidence that the private sector is light years beyond da gubmint in food safety. Branded products manufacturers are fiercely protective of their good name. Private label packagers MUST protect their customers’ good names. It’s rare (I can’t remember that it’s ever happened to me) that a gubmint auditor has a legit challenge to food safety in my plant. 3rd party audits, as required by the (private sector) Global Food Safety Initiative members, are brutal; but nothing compared to when branded companies come around for an audit.
The fed’s latest big food safety regulation overhaul (FSMA) was merely an attempt to catch up with the private sector. Maybe 2 years after its passage, a familiar fed auditor showed up for a surprise visit and started asking us to show her things that FSMA required. I asked, “Oh, so you’d like us to treat this like a regular audit?” She was dumbfounded, “So my prior visits haven’t been regular audits?”
Fun example… Tape on equipment is considered a temporary repair, which is frowned upon. The above fed auditor came in and found some such tape and was going to cite me for it. I had to correct her, “But that’s duct tape… on a duct.”
Can confirm. I spent a total of 14 years in food manufacturing. The private audits were far and away more stringent and better carried out than the gov’t mandated ones.
And our USDA inspector possibly was fed lead paint as part of her Spaghetti-Os as a child.
We were investigating a USDA approved CO2 cleaning system (it basically fired tiny dry ice pellets at the stainless steel surface to clean) and she told us we couldn’t use it because, and I’m quoting here “When the dry ice evaporates it will turn into water that’s contaminated and fall back on the equipment”.
I couldn’t even. One shake of hte head and, “Well, it’s approved by your agency. So…” and wandered off.
“Look up dry ice on Wikipedia, just the introductory paragraph, and get back to me. I need to seek medical attention for derp this weapons-grade. May god have mercy on your soul.”
SJWednesday: The Devil’s Crossroad
Of course the commentary is largely by men. Female vegan’s can’t breed because it requires taking animal products into their body.
/golf clap
“However, public commentators on the politics of vegan procreation are disproportionately men.”
So, there are two men and one woman commenting publicly on the politics of vegan procreation.
SJWednesday: Hey Sis, How You Doin’?
That’s a long damn article to say: “I want to molest my niece.”
You know, I used to snicker at the socons who argued that eventually every kind of sexual taboo would be justified under social justice grounds……but, yeah, here we are. Incest, pedophilia, virtually everything now has some earnest chin-tugging leftist saying “Well, let’s think about this….”
We may be shrieking moral scolds, but that doesn’t mean we’re wrong.
Hey, somebody’s got to support the market for sex dungeons.
Conservatives going back to Burke have been right about just about everything.
As long as they’re consenting adults it shouldn’t be illegal. Still gross though…
Yeah, the assumption that government agents can prosecute people for having consensual sex because of the possibility of birth defects — that’s one mighty slippery slope.
Polygamy, incest, prostitution, whatever — if it’s consenting adults, then they own their bodies and have the right to have sex as they please.
“Yeah, the assumption that government agents can prosecute people for having consensual sex because of the possibility of birth defects — that’s one mighty slippery slope.”
Especially since we just had a big fight over marriage where the argument was made that procreation was not the purpose of marriage.
Sure, should unrelated people who each had a grandparent with, say, epilepsy or Huntington’s Disease be allowed to legally procreate? That’s where the slope leads.
The slippery slope leads to the government having the sole authority of deciding for everyone which pregnancies are allowed. This is the status quo in North Korea.
Can anyone provide a good small government argument for why incest should remain illegal? It’s a disgusting concept and people are free to recoil at the assertion, but I fail to understand why it has to be kept illegal
*points at Anderson Cooper*
Case closed.
The Vanderbilts aren’t sending us their best
Assuming everyone involved is an adult, I can’t think of a reason it should. About the only one that I can even consider going with just goes right into the child abuse style of it starting when one of the participants was a minor, and continued past the age of consent.
and child abuse works just fine as it’s own crime, no real relevance whether the perpetrator is related to the victim or not.
Isn’t the Royal family British Appalachia?
They married fewer cousins than the Hapsburgs.
There isn’t one.
I suppose you could come up with a rationale for making relationships between custodial parents and children illegal as it is possible that the parent could have groomed the child for that relationship using their position as their parent to do so but then at some point we have to admit that an adult child is an actual adult and is responsible for their own actions regardless of what has happened with their past so I’m still not sure there would be a good reason for making such a relationship illegal presuming it does not begin before the child is an adult.
Birth defects? That’s the only way I could even fathom it being made rightfully illegal, and TBH. I’m not seeing how even that would work.
Of course, the article isn’t just arguing that it shouldn’t be illegal. It goes much further, arguing that incest shouldn’t be stigmatized at all, and that in fact it is wrong (throws down bigot trump card) to stigmatize people who fuck their siblings.
sex, romance, and/or marriage between family members, is not only not unethical, but that its stigmatization is unjustifiably bigoted
As we should well know by now, the next move is to demand that normies celebrate incest, and that incestivores become a legally protected class.
See this is where people go too far.
The fact that there is one dude on the internet claiming this doesn’t make it a movement. Yes it may become a movement but I highly doubt it because the overwhelming majority of people are disguised by the thought of having sex with their close relatives, and I hate to break it to the guy who wrote the article, that is not purely a cultural phenomenon either, it is at least partially biological.
Right now it is just one guy raising an issue which is important to him ( I think based on the name this is the guy who married his Sister in Germany and tried to get the German Government to rescind the laws against incest a few years ago) and there is little to no evidence that it has any actual support from anywhere.
It is clear that whatever hidden collection of people out there who actually practice incest, or wish to do so but are held back by it’s being illegal would already agree with this post but so far as anyone knows this is an incredibly small number of people, insufficient to make a movement on their own. The only way it becomes a movement is if it is actually picked up by the Social Justice crowd as a new issue to fight over now that the Gay Rights fight is won. The problem for this writer is that there is no evidence that social justice progressives will have any interest in carrying his banner forward so until they begin to do so this is nothing more than an interesting intellectual question.
See this is where people go too far.
Sure, its one dude, but that’s the playbook. The giveaway is the statement that finding incest unethical or immoral or objectionable is “bigotry”. By now, we should all know that slope is steep and slippery.
The problem for this writer is that there is no evidence that social justice progressives will have any interest in carrying his banner forward
At the moment, they are too busy running the playbook on transgenders. When there’s no more mileage to be gotten out of that tiny minority, I think they will look for another tiny minority to justify their perpetual outrage and hatred of normal people. Incest might just fit the bill.
Maybe but I doubt it. They’ll get more mileage out of plural marriage/polygamy and frankly I think the entire movement will be dead long before they get past that
The fact that there is one dude on the internet claiming this doesn’t make it a movement.
The fact that it’s getting playing time on a fairly well traveled news blog (is that what medium is?) tell me that there’s more than just one guy. The journalos are sending out trial balloons for the next big oppression push after the trannie one fizzles out.

I would love to know if his wife was involved in the Smollett case.

You’re going to have to destroy his reputation as Chocolate Jesus for that.
He’s the classic emperor with no Fruit of the Looms.
I suspect the new crop of progressive lunatics is only too happy to do that.
I really hope it gets wiped out now and for good. What a week it’s been, my lord.
Question to all. So what happens if it does?
Does it all revert to what it was before this mess?
That is you get to get your doctor back?
I’m not 100% sure. My mother does work for a hospital though so when I see her in a couple days, we’ll have a nice talk about it. She was never a fan of the ACA either so I’m intrigued by her take. I know I won’t be getting my doctor back because I’m sure he just retired and stayed retired.
So what happens if it does?
Medicaid expansion goes away,
The federal health insurance exchange goes away,
A bunch of Medicare “reforms” (mainly ACOs) go away.
The federal requirements on health insurance generally go away.
And, of course, cannibal rape gangs roaming the streets.
Don’t forget the piles of corpses everywhere.
cannibal rape gangs
Ah, so the problem takes care of itself.
*piles of bones everywhere
Good thing cause I was running out of room for new piles of bodies next to my Net Neutrality, Trump, and Russian Collusion piles
Would I be able to buy catastrophic coverage for the arm the cannibal rape gangs chew off?
If the arm is already gone that’s fraud, jerk.
I think DOJ is allowing some other group to defend the law. I will be very (pleasantly) surprised if the law is actually struck down.
I do like the double reverse on the penaltax. SCOTUS said the entire law was justified as an exercise of the taxing power. No more tax, so not an exercise of the taxing power any more, so what exactly justifies the law?

https://fee.org/articles/libertarians-for-forced-vaccinations/
FEE has a pretty aggressive and out of character article taking Bailey and Gary Johnson to task for advocating in favor of forced inoculation.
IIRC, there are a couple of members of the glibertariat that have argued for forced vaccination too.
Slavers, each and every one of them.
Splitters. Point them out. Their avatars should be designated with some sort of moniker. Like a star or something
*applies star to appologist’s avatar*
I oppose forced inoculation.
I was joking about the star (a little bit)
Honestly, I dont remember who. I know there were some arguments on TOS.
John is one.
He’s got a couple of issues like that. He also wants to make it a crime to buy a historically significant cultural artifact and destroy it.
I’m deeply offended by the idea of destroying a historical artifact, but I don’t know how you’d make that a crime. Significance is in the eye of the beholder, after all, and if it’s really that significant you should pass the hat around and buy it your damn self.
I’m conflicted on the subject.
You’re basically Nick Sarwark now
Vaccines are not harm-free.
My son is a perfect example of such. Because of his genetics, he cannot expel the adjuvant metals included in the vaccine, typically aluminum in children’s vaccines, thimerosal (mercury) in adult.
I’m fine with the government promoting vaccinations as a public health initiative, but I draw the line at making it a legal requirement.
Also, what vaccines are we mandating? Should the chicken pox and flu vaccine be mandatory? TX wanted to mandate that all twelve year-old girls be vaccinated for HPV in order to attend public school. That’s sheer insanity.
There is a large contingent of public health “experts” that would argue for all vaccines to be mandatory. I consider them to be fundamentally evil.
Forced vaccination should be reserved for the direst of risks as it carries a huge burden for the individual.
They’re not “evil”. They just know that they’ll profit off of forcing people to take ever more largely useless vaccines for diseases that pose no significant health risk.
As of the first of this year, all NYC public school students over 5 years of age are required to get a flu shot every year or they will be banned from campus. The paperwork is 1 page in a fairly simple layout… Photoshop makes quick work of it.
The flu shot is bullshit.
The best defense against influenza is general good health.
Invariably, the people I know who get the flu had the flu shot. They’re always consoled with “Well, it could have been worse but the vaccination made the illness less severe.”
I’ve never gotten a flu shot. In the past twenty years I’ve had the flu once.
I’ve refused to get the flu shot – much to the chagrin of my doctor. But hey, I haven’t had the flu since 1996-ish, why would I change?
I haven’t argued for it, I’ve pointed out there is an argument for it.
If you don’t vaccinate (and you don’t have a valid medical reason for not doing it, and no MUH AUTISM is not a valid medical reason), you’re an idiot and you’re likely too dumb to walk and chew gum at the same time, and certainly too dumb to raise a child. But then again that’s true of a lot of people.
I’m fine with the government saying “No vaccinations, no public school for you”.
I’m not okay with forced vaccinations, for the same reason I’m against a lot of laws: I’m not okay with the government killing someone for not getting their kids vaccinated, because that’s where every law can eventually lead.
“I’m fine with the government saying “No vaccinations, no public school for you”.
I generally agree with this assessment, but you’re making the wild assumption that the government only mandates vaccines for polio and measles when this is most assuredly not the case.
Some governments mandate vaccines for the chicken pox or the flu in order to attend public schools. TX tried to mandate that girls be vaccinated for HPV before attending school.
The whole forced inoculation argument completely collapses when you consider that they are entrusting the government to make these decisions
I’m ok with the chicken pox vaccine being included. Not ok with HPV or the flu (see below).
Gotcha. The chicken pox one doesn’t make sense to me either though, because no one needed that vaccine before and the mortality rate for the chicken pox among the young is very low.
But, this is why these issues should be left to parents and why the government should only restrict public access to those not vaccinated against deadly diseases that are easily transmitted.
I’m fine with chicken pox for two reasons:
1. While complications in the young are rare, they exist (my best friend when I was a kid ended up in the hospital for two weeks with pneumonia as a result of chicken pox), and they’re far, far more common than complications from the vaccine.
2. With the vaccine, you’re far less likely (approaching zero) to get shingles in later life than if you had the chicken pox.
The problem is when adults who missed CP as a child get it – then it is actually a serious thing, particularly in pregnant women. I don’t think that justifies mandatory CP vaccines. Government programs should have the right to exclude unvaccinated children – but those programs should not exist in the first place.
FWIW, they now have a full-on cure for HPV which is a good thing because of all the shrieking hysterical socon parents who refused to process that it could be transmitted by skin/skin contact like sports – “a venereal disease my daughter will never get.”
The CP vaccine requires regular boosters throughout life in order to remain effective.
Yeah the Chicken pox vaccine is not a “vaccine”. It’s pretty garbage. This is why parents use to get all their kids sick with the chicken pox. Sometimes the natural way is better than what science concocts.
“Science” is a method – it doesn’t “concoct” anything.
“Science” is a method – it doesn’t “concoct” anything.”
OK. I know you like to play word police with me, but I was not trying to knock science. And it’s pretty clear that I wasn’t.
The effort to frame anyone who doesn’t think the government should be allowed to force you to be vaccinated as “anti-science” is transparent stupidity masquerading as a reasoned point
‘FWIW, they now have a full-on cure for HPV’
Wait, WHAT?
It’s for…uh.. a friend.

Thanks, Rasilio!
I’m not. I’m also not OK with the schedule. The vaccinations are too close together, too many and not handled well. The 1970/80’s schedule worked, but now they’re adding new vaccines for lesser illnesses at a breakneck pace without a full understanding of what the total load of treatment has on a developing immune system.
I’ve learned the hard way, at my son’s expense, that doctors and the health industry typically treat their patients like cattle.
In the age of advanced genetic screenings, this is no longer acceptable.
It isn’t the age of advanced genetic screenings. Those tests are expensive, and rarely ever done.
The costs are decreasing every day. I’ve paid for enough to know.
And I wish I had paid for them on day one, or before.
“I’ve learned the hard way, at my son’s expense, that doctors and the health industry typically treat their patients like cattle.”
Yep, and that’s with our (arguably) quasi-private health system. Imagine how it would be with full-on nationalized health where the government, not the patient, is the customer.
“Gotta keep those vaccination numbers up. [hits Scruff Jr with pneumatic vax gun]”
Please note that I’m referring to the childhood series here, and not the flu or HPV.
Hmm. I don’t think I’m alright with the “no vax, no school” bit. You’re paying for it after all and attendance is mandated by law. Yeah, there are alternatives, but again, you’re not getting your cut of the taxes you’ve paid back, and I think requiring vaccination to attend a public school has the burden incurred by associating with the community backwards. Part of it is also that I don’t buy the herd immunity argument.
For the record, I’m fully on board with vaccination. I just don’t think it should be a requirement to use public services. After all, you’re not required to show that you’ve been vaccinated to use public transportation, or go to a library, or enter a public building.
“Part of it is also that I don’t buy the herd immunity argument.”
Why not? That’s exactly how vaccinations work.
Herd immunity is basic epidemiology. As far as I know, its not controversial.
The actual science is not controversial. But there is always that small percent for whom vaccines “don’t work*.” The controversy is in using herd immunity as a bludgeon for force vaccination.
While there appear to be some actual cases of vaccines not working for whatever reason, this also includes paperwork fuckups, poorly handled vaccines, or manufacturer fuckups.
As I think I’ve stated in the past, I am emphatically not a doctor or scientist, so I’m on very shaky ground here. It just seems like the concept makes sense from the perspective that fewer potential carriers means fewer possible opportunities for a disease to survive, but then it starts to seem off when you introduce the idea that vaccinated people become at-risk when non-vaccinated people arrive.
Bill, infants have died before they could be vaccinated from diseases they acquired from un-vaccinated kids.
Herd immunity is real and is important.
I see neither Potato nor Dean read the article.
The article talks about some of the deficiencies of herd immunity.
The thread’s well dead, but in case anyone comes back, it strikes me that this topic sure seems to resemble discussions about climate change, at least in the dynamics of the argument.
What I mean is that if a vaccination’s success depends on everyone having had it such that the disease can never actually establish itself in a population, and the presence of a minority of non-vaccinated people within that population puts the entire population, vaccinated or not, at risk of infection, then the strategy isn’t a very good one. If you owned a generator that only worked if you could plug it into all your neighbors’ generators, you wouldn’t think of it as a reliable backup in an emergency. If fifty vaccinated people can still get Disease X if one person is a carrier and isn’t vaccinated, the vaccine is crapola.
M understanding of herd immunity is that it has two effects. Once a sufficient percentage of the population is vaccinated against a communicable disease, then:
(1) The unvaccinated minority is better protected against infection because there are relatively few vectors for infection.
(2) Vaccines aren’t perfect, and their effectiveness is enhanced because, again, there are relatively few vectors for infection.
I guess part of my issue is assuming a vaccination either entirely prevents infection or doesn’t, which isn’t really the case.
I can also see the argument for forcing the public schools to accept the unvaxed. That has merit on both accommodation and practical grounds. The practical being that it will drive down public school enrollments and hopefully funding.
“You’re paying for it after all..”
Taxpayers are paying for it. Unless you pay a fuck-ton of taxes your yearly educational tax burden is less than the cost of a single pupil-year of public school. That’s the type of thinking that leads to the “we can’t kill it until I get my money back” mindset.
Really, this could be solved by eliminating public schools or by transitioning to a pure voucher system, but I seriously doubt I’ll see anything like that in my lifetime. And if you bring it up in certain circles people look at you like you’re eating a puppy.
Adventurous. Alone. Attacked.
The number of female solo travelers has skyrocketed, but amid Instagram-worthy escapades are tales of violence and death, raising questions about how the world is greeting women who travel alone.
Don’t those natives understand that these young women just want to help them with their intersectional justice issues?
“Why won’t those quaint people we insist are morally superior to us benighted Westerners show as much willingness to defer to women as we find in Copenhagen, Oslo or Amsterdam?”
Well, yeah, it’s inherently risky to go to places you aren’t familiar with, especially by yourself. I wouldn’t go backpacking through Detroit, for instance, without a gun and a large dog. I don’t know why people don’t understand that the world isn’t a resort.
I don’t know why people don’t understand that the world isn’t a resort.
Because they have been indoctrinated with multi-culti lunacy, teaching them that their own countries are cesspits of bigotry and violence against women, but other countries are charming and authentic and superior in every way to Western Civilization. That indoctrination leaves no room for the reality that there is no place or time when women have been safer than right now in Western countries.
It is interesting that two of the four of the cases they cite are in NZ and Australia, though.
Re: flatulence
Back in high school a bunch of friends and I were in a band which would practice in the cramped basement of our drummer’s parents’ house. One particular session which I’ll never forget was when our drummer was on the very tail end of recovery from a particularly brutal bout of influenza which completely incapacitated him for about two weeks. Because we were punk as fuck, our songs were all played at ridiculous breakneck speed. For this reason, the drummer would have a box fan running behind him to keep from melting into a blob of goo. Somewhere midway through this session as one song ended, I noticed a faint, unpleasant odor permeating the room. I glanced at the drummer who was beaming a smug, self-satisfied grin from behind his kit when the putrid stench of fermented human bowel hit me as it wafted over on the wind of the fan humming away. I have no recollection of how quickly I unplugged my guitar and ran through the back door to the yard to empty the entire contents of my stomach in violent, heaving bursts of puke, but it seemed like a nanosecond. To this day I have never encountered a more horrid stench of cataclysmic doom than that one fart.
This is the best told fart story I’ve ever read
Just…amazing.
Look at Dorothy Parker, there. Nice writing, Mikey.
Work that into the show. Couldn’t make punk any worse. 😉

Beer tastes like shit. The only reason to possibly drink beer is to get drunk. This is dumb.
JB,
I’m sorry for your broken taste buds.
/gets ready to refute that all beer tastes the same
Anyone who says that clearly hasn’t tried enough beer.
*sorrowful gaze*
You poor thing.
There is a beer somewhere that you’ll like, even if you don’t like beer. There are so many varieties of beer I’d be absolutely stunned to find that you disliked every single one.
I will occasionally tell people that sour ales are beer for people that don’t like beer.
Yeah, definitely. There’s the Miller Lite direction for people who really just want something unobtrusive that’ll give them a buzz, too. Lambics are a good one because of the fruit taste.
I have met one person in my life that I haven’t been able to find a beer they liked. One.
So far, we haven’t met.
But I thought you picked up some when you were at Troeg’s…
I rated it as drinkable.
Your criteria was ‘liked’.
There’s still some fragment of the desire to fit in culturally in me that seeks out some sort of beer or wine compatable with me. So I search. I have concluded that hops disagree with me. Flat out. I’ve been looking for another gose to see if that style works – but I can’t find any!
You are one ahead of me.
They are all individuals and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. I’m talking about the beers, not weirdos like JB.
If I drink a nonalcoholic brew will I no longer be an alcoholic?
Only until you drink alcohol again, then all the benefits are lost.
Hard core twelve-steppers will emphatically tell you no. I guess that even trace amounts of alcohol, which NA beer does have, is off limits for anyone in recovery. I personally don’t buy this idea at all (I see alcoholism as a compulsive behavioral trait instead of a substance abuse issue), but if it helps make people’s lives better I’m not really one to judge the methods.
If I eat gluten free bread will I no longer be a gluten?
*narrows gaze*
If you find that you are blowing all your money on fancy nonalcoholic brew and it is also causing problems in your relationships, is there a 12 step program.
“Hi, I’m Pope Jimbo and I’m a nonalcoholic. I’ve been drunk 12 months now and with doG’s grace I hope I can keep drunk. One day at a time amirite?”
…a growing market of sober-curious people…
Who comes up with this shit? You either drink or you don’t. Or is this supposed to be like “gay-curious” or “bi-curious” where every mundane aspect of human existence is inexplicably sexualized?
It comes from this idea that drinking is a form of oppression for sober people. So they want to be sober (are curious about it) but those darn social conventions just won’t let them!
This is people so weak in the face of “peer pressure” that they want the culture to change to save them the effort and embarrassment of saying “No, thank you” when someone offers them a beer. Fake beer tides the cowards over until they can fuck stuff up for everyone else.
This is why we need to make bullying great again. Hopefully some of this can be beaten out of them in the schoolyard.
They can’t just do seltzer/soda water with a chunk of lime in it? It’s a hell of a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I don’t get that shit. I’ve had periods of insanity in my life where I decided to get on the water wagon for extended periods of time. I didn’t have any problem telling my drunk buddies that I was just drinking a pop.
Sack up.
I won’t drive if I’m drinking at all anymore. I say, “no thanks”, and nothing else happens.
People are weird.
^this. Peer pressure to drink is just not a thing in adult circles since the rise of the DUI.
A very good friend of mine gave up the sauce about a year ago. Not an alcoholic or anything, just liked keeping his head clear. He’s not popular at bars because he’s pummeling coffee and iced tea, but the only people with a problem are the staff who are looking at a $5 bar tab.
In the old days the only time I ever said no to a drink was is someone asked if I’d had enough…
So, I didn’t look at the numbers and I don’t know what they mean by beer sales being down, but it’s a trend that when the economy is performing well and disposable income is relatively high sales of wine and higher-end liquor increase and beer sales decrease. Apparently beer remains a blue-collar beverage despite the craft beer phenomenon. Or it’s that there’s a relatively stable core of beer drinkers and a relatively stable core of people who only drink wine or liquor, the latter of whom buy more when they’ve got more money, and there’s a group in the middle who will substitute the one for the other as their finances change.
Even within craft beer, people switch between beer and wine/booze based on income.
From what I’ve read on it, beer sales in recent years are still growing, but by much smaller margins then in the previous several years. At the same time, you’ve got a lot more breweries in operation chasing that same chunk of people. Overall, the Macro (Bud/Miller/Coors) sales have seen the brunt of the decline, hence the acquisition of several craft breweries, and attempting to extend out their brands in craft-like ways. While some of the craft breweries go all out in finding new things to make and experiment with to get publicity. The beer market is also getting consumed by the hard pop/seltzer popularity that continues (some believe this is why the BA upped the allowance of non-beer products a craft brewery can make).

I seriously want to punch anyone who parrots this idiotic argument. It was a fucking joke made in a press conference, dipshit. If he had been dead serious, don’t you think he wouldn’t have said it IN FULL VIEW OF DOZENS OF REPORTERS?
Also, the emails that came out WERE NOT the emails he was asking for. I just want to beat people who deliberately make this conflation.
He was joking about her laughably insecure server, which we have actually been told (in Congressional hearings) was penetrated by foreign intelligence agencies.
He wasn’t asking the Russians to hack a server that had already been shut down. He was observing that in all probability, they had a complete set of her emails, which was more than our own government could say. Although I suspect the NSA also has, to this day, a complete set of her emails.
Even the second server–the DNC server–had already been hacked months earlier. And subsequently shut down by the Ukrainian firm CrowdStrike.
Crazy land. Makes InfoWars look sane.
I didn’t see any of that.
WE SAW the GOP do nothing about Russia’s cyberattack on our elections.
If I recall correctly, there was an attempt at hacking the Republican Party servers, but they had the foresight to have competent security.
It’s funny, I was going to say the same thing except that it was the Democrats gaslighting America into thinking collusion had occurred
I am becoming increasingly convinced, not only of the multiple universes theory, but that the universes are permeable and that people can cross from one to another.
Because I saw none of what he claims is irrefutable truth. He must be from an alternate universe.
Science!
What’s with titling tweets, not to mention all the same in all caps? This looks like a man that’s one step away from wearing a sandwich board in a Walmart parking lot.

^^ Correct.
Keith Olbermann – Still an asshole
Using his sizable platform to attack and encourage the harassment of some poor random average guy who shot a fucking turkey. Yes, he’s an asshole.
“Turkeys are Keith Olbermann’s spirit animals.”
Nice.
Especially so since non-natives are not allowed to claim “spirit animals.” Much problematic, so appropriative.
My spirit animal is STEVE SMITH!
SF just murdered this thread with a poop knife, but I’ll post this here anyway. Local citizen journalists doing the work that professionals don’t want to:

Might be worth reposting in the PM linx. We’ll see.
Bigly.
No collusion!
