Well thanks to the stellar composition of the piece I couldn’t figure out if the girl is now 14 and was abused since 10 or was 14 and is now 18 until about a third of the way through.
For me, the distinction is that I’m willing to hear a convincing argument that a 24-year-old and a 16-year-old are basically in the same place mentally and emotionally, but I think 16 is the magic number for me. I’m not sure why, but there it is. Regardless, when you’re talking significant age difference, it transitions from “that’s real creepy” to “huh, that’s unusual” when the youngest party has reached the 20s.
It’s funny that you threw those numbers out there because those are the exact the same numbers that my parents married at, my father being the elder. In his case, I don’t think it was because he sexually preferred teenage girls over older women, was because younger people are far earier to manipulate and control.

The double-standard is definitely a thing. If the sexes were reversed the comment section would be filled with guys posting “Wooaoaghhgh! Get after it, tiger!” The older woman would be considered maybe desperate or a little pathetic at worst. For all the feminism even the press still holds to Victorian-era standards of male and female sexual behavior. The idea that a 14-year-old girl might have similar sexual drives to a 14-year-old boy is alien to most people, despite personal experience proving it in nearly everyone’s case.
Plus, and I should probably emphasize that I’m not arguing this in defense of the guy, who has a claw-hammer castration due to him on behalf of the girl’s father, when I was 14 there were teenagers, and there were “old” people who were adults, and there were actually old people who were 50 or older. 26 was old, but like dangerously exciting adult old. I’m anxious about this post, for a number of reasons, but, the bottom line is, for those of you who have an Amazon Prime account, and might be inclined to help someone out financially-WITHOUT spending a red cent-you can help out my wife (and, by extension, me).
I’m going to try to make this pitch brief: She is a Twitch.tv streamer part-time, where she streams some vidya game playing, and, their version of karaoke. She was recently made an affiliate, which means that others can subscribe to her channel (monthly basis) and even give her monefree Twitch Prime subscriptionce it’s owned by Amazon, everyone who has Amazon Prime has a free Twitch Prime subscription that they can use on any twitch streamer, provided they are at ‘affiliate’ status. It doesn’t cost anything outside the Prime account cost, and, the only difference between it and a paid subscription is that the free account doesn’t auto-renew every month.
So…If any glibs are willing to go to the trouble, this would mean 1) creating an account on Twitch (no cost, and doesn’t require much in the way of info), 2) linking that account to your Amazon account, then 3) going to her channel and subscribing to her using the Twitch Prime option. Of course, you can watch her streams, if you like, but it’s in no way required–you can subscribe, and never go to her channel again. Now, she and I hope you do watch the content, or, at the very least, go back once a month (about every 30 days or so) and renew the Prime subscription, but, you don’t have to. From what I can see, she doesn’t even have to be live in order to subscribe (broadcasts are recorded/saved on her “page” for later viewing).

I have gotten drunk about three times since then but mostly I slow down or stop once my face gets a bit numb. Usually three or four beers over that many hours.
I don’t know if people are moving over to sobriety though. Isn’t it more likely that many are moving over to other intoxicants now that they’re much easier, and legal, to obtain?

I liked the show. I think it is more anti-government propaganda than anti-nuclear.
If it were anti-nuclear propaganda they would have had the protagonists making statements about the inevitability of disaster from using nuclear power. Instead, all of the opinions expressed were regarding how corrupt and indifferent the government was. How the only thing that mattered to the government was preventing any hint of its imperfection from getting made public. My take away was that the root cause of the accident was government corruption. They knew that there was a flaw in the reactor, but they erased the evidence of the flaw and the man who found it, rather than fix the flaw. They did this to prevent evidence that “Soviet Science” was imperfect from getting out and embarrassing the government.

Along those lines…..it was rainy and boring this weekend, so I spent it holed up in the house and bored. I’ve been watching Narcos, so I went looking for a documentary on the cartels and found one called Cocaine Royalty, from about 15 years ago, but it’s much broader than just the cartels. It’s really long, 3 hours, and there’s a lengthy section in the middle about Barry Seal, Mena Arkansas, and Bill Clinton. Now, I was in high school and college during the Clinton administration so I only vaguely remember allegations of Clinton being connected to coke trafficking, but I do remember how that was waved away as a bunch of loony conspiracy theories.
After watching this, though, I think it’s fair to say there were at least reasons to be suspicious, between Clinton’s brother’s involvement, his ties to Dan Laseter, the fact that no prosecutions came out of years of investigations into Seal’s airport despite mountains of evidence, etc.
Yet another isolated instance of Serena Williams being an unmitigated bitch, and the media telling us not to believe our lying eyes.
