Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! And what a glorious morning it always is!
DOJ review of Trump surveillance is “broad in scope and multifaceted”.
The beatings will continue until morale improves. It was a good run YouTube, time to move on.
Amash resigns from House Freedom Caucus.
Connecticut restaurant closed after fluid from decomposing body leaks from upstairs apartment.
Pence defends refusal to allow embassies to mindlessly social signal.
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
Morning Banjos
I reached another milestone today. Ol’ Fourscore is fourscore plus 2. These days my bucket list has only one item left on it and that’s to wake up in the morning.
I am grateful for this site and the founders that have done such an excellent job in making my mornings brighter. I am happy to have all you Glibs to count as friends. Even as the body reacts differently than it did a few years ago at least the mind is still +/- 2 SDs . Its a Great Day in my neighborhood!
Happy four score plus two homey.
Happy birthday, geezer.
You win the old man award. ::shakes fist at clouds::
Happy birthday, my friend! I hope it’s a great day!
You’re doing yeoman’s work of not dying. Keep it up.
Thanks fellers, its already been a great day and now its time for the oatmeal.
When I hear “bucket list” and “+2” at the same time, I think of something else.
BTW, Happy b-day to you.
NONONONONO!
Happy Birthday and many happy returns!
HBD!
Happy Birthday. Have a great day not be gainfully employed!
Happy Birthday, old man.
Uffda. Happy Birthday Fourscore.
Actual footage of Tundra telling Fourscore how old he is at the last Minnesoda Glibs meetup
That guy is too much.
I am sure I will never break 60 at the rate I am going, but that guy sure knows how to work it.
At first I thought “how sad. He has dementia”, then I remembered I stopped remembering how old I was after 35.
I used to know how old I was because of needing a driver’s licence, then cigs, porn, alcohol, etc. But when I moved in into the frat house and had access to alcohol, I completely lost track of my age. I have to do the calculation now.
I also started having to calculate my age sometime after 30.
Best wishes!
Happy Birthday!
That’s a pretty good list! Happy boithday!
Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday
Happy Birthday!
I’ll buy you a new belt onion.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Fourscore
I guess I’ll pile on. Happy &c.
Glibs to count as friends
YMMV
keep up the good fight !
Do we have an old man glib birthday gif?
Thanks, I’m appreciative of the good wishes,
(wipes a little dust from my eyes).
Now you can turn up the volume on the heavy metal stuff, since I can’t hear it (very well) anyway. There are some benefits of the passage of time.
Happy birthday young man! 82nd All The Way! Aiborne!
Fort Campbell ain’t bad, make them Eagles Scream.
Back in ancient history I went to school at Bragg, to the Advisor’s Course, as a prelude to a tropical vacation.
I also was at Benning scheduled for Airborne when my orders were changed to go off to Signal School. I have always wondered if I could/would have jumped out of a plane.
There is nothing either manly or wise about jumping out of perfectly functioning aircraft, good sir. (A SgtMaj once told me he never wanted to see a set of jump wings over aviator wings. “It makes me think you don’t really believe in what you’re doing, sir,” he said deadpan.
Congratulations, Sir, and thank you for your service. Glad you’re here… Happy + 2.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, and a first.
Mornin’, Happy Birthday! people born in the summer months are generally superior beings.
Happy birthday Four(pointone)score!
Happy Birthday! And best of luck reaching eight score plus four.
Hava Happy, Fourscore!
Happy birthday! Gemini’s unite!
Happy Birthday!
Always late to the party here on the Wet Coast. It’s barely 7 AM and everybody and their dog’s already wished you a happy happy. Well, me and my dog wanna wish you the same as well. Enjoy your day!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
“DOJ review of Trump surveillance is “broad in scope and multifaceted”.”
That proggie code for “The Obama administration’s weaponized three letter agencies constantly broke or circumvented the law to help the democrats rig shit and take down political enemies?
Amash resigns from House Freedom Caucus.
Seems appropriate.
Because he is not really for freedom when his priority is his own foreign investments over the fact that there is a political party and a weaponized deep state trying to run a coup he went along with?
Anyone seeking prison or removal from office of Trump is either mendacious in the extreme or hockey helmet retard.
Yeah we’ll, Amash isn’t stupid (although he seriously overplayed a weak hand here).
My guess is that he’s terrified of losing his seat in the next election more than anything. Michigan is a weird state that usually votes D for national elections and R for local. It flipped in 2016. The west side is generally more conservative, but everyone and their uncle is moving to GR so it’s probably getting more lib than it used to be.
If the electorate leaves you politically, then just quit already.
Desperate attempts to cling to office at the expense of your principles are pathetic.
This. It’s not like he’s unemployable.
Exactly. He could have kept his principles and been the LP prez nominee.
Of course, having principles and the current LP don’t go together too good.
I think they call it mollifying the base.
It’s not like he’s unemployable.
Something something top flight career something something service industry.
Ted is going to have a field day with that apostrophe.
Ill live…
I figure about 40 presidents, give or take, needed to be impeached, Trump is surely on the list.
That isn’t the problem. The reason he wants it done is the problem.
Running around like a self-aggrandizing jack-ass totally missing the point of the Freedom Caucus – not a exactly what the caucus is looking for.
Don;’t know Amash, so can’t decide if his action is self-aggrandizing or a profile in courage. To libertarians, just about every president has done something impeachable (not following their constitutional oath, for example). In a country split 50/50, it would be unwise to impeach Trump, just as it was unwise to impeach Clinton.
I’ve honestly been perplexed by the turn Amash has taken. Not that I follow him particularly closely, but he’s seemed like a pretty low-bullshit libertarian-*ish* figure until his sudden announcement – on twitter? – of his position wrt impeachment. Even then I was inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him explain his position, but the explanations I saw from him were consistently lacking in detail about what exactly he thought Trump should be impeached for. At this point I’m still just shrugging my shoulders and making WTF? hand gestures.
Vince got him to do a heel-turn, but he didn’t have the chops to pull it off.
Has anyone asked him where the articles of impeachment were during president drone strike’s tenure? What about president NSA domestic spying? Because that seems a lot worse than talking about exercising your rights as president but not actually following through.
Look, no on *likes* flying murder robots, but we can play ball with someone who loves them. But an orange spray tan?? Sir, have you no decency!!
1 week countdown to his presidential run announcement.
>>Connecticut Thai restaurant is closed after ‘reddish-brown fluids’ from a decomposing body leak through the floor of an upstairs apartment
It’s Thai food – who would notice?
Was the “body” an animal or human body? And if animal, was it one of those we normally eat or one of those that are pets? That shit matters.
“An officer entered the second-floor apartment above the restaurant at 199 Broad Street through an unlocked back window and found the deceased tenant’s body in bed.
He appeared to have been dead for several days and had started to decompose.”
That some sort of pickling process? You know you hang up dead animals to “cure”, so someone might have been curing this, erm, body…
This usually happens to composers after they die…
Add some chili and call it good?
Must be growing some kind of ability to empathize because I felt sorry for the restaurant. Looks like a nice little joint and they’re gonna get fucked.
Yeah, that’s a nuke-it-from-orbit kind of thing right there.
One of our glib law-dogs will have to let us know if failure to keep rotting bodies out of a rental space is negligence by the landlords or no.
It’s too bad Gordon Ramsey didn’t find it first. Would’ve made one helluva Kitchen Nightmares episode.
Would he have called the corpse a donkey?
First episode where he actually walks away.
I need to get my shocked face on Amazon subscription. I keep wearing it out.
Most of the nefarious Russians in the Mueller report worked for US or friendly intel, or worse, for/with the Clintons. But Mueller could only be bothered to manipulate the facts, leave out exculpatory information, or bury the Clinton/Obama/weaponized US 3 letter agency connections, so the thing read like a spy novel with the most mendacious spying ring not being exposed so they could pretend orange man was an enemy of the very country Obama successfully changed into a banana republic.
What has this world come to when hitting the mini-bar while on vacation is gonna cost you your life?
Is this some sick fuck killing people, or some asshat drinking half the booze out of the bottle and refilling it with liquid alcohol? Or is it too much roofies?
Maybe its the price?
I see you have hit the mini-bar before.
With the gov’t there doing the whole Sgt Schultz thing, I’m guessing someone is happily poisoning Americans.
Bingo. They have a cereal killer and the govt spokesidiot is claiming natural causes/coincidence. Not smart.
Someone is doing it deliberately and someone, somewhere knows who it is or has suspicions who it might be. Cops need to burn some old fashioned shoe leather and the person will be caught.
there’s Wheaties in the mini-bar ?
“Bingo. They have a cereal killer and the govt spokesidiot is claiming natural causes/coincidence.”
When your entire economy is based on tourism, admitting you have a serial killer out there is bad for business. Have you people not seen OMWC’s favorite movie Jaws? The same sort of thing happened there plus a rubber shark to make it even more awesome!
Back in the day I could kill a whole box of Golden Grahams. But man that toilet was never the same.
In Punta Cana many of the resorts are “all inclusive” and they include alcohol in your room. When I went down there, there were 3-4 alcohol dispensers mounted on the wall, probably refilled with cheap liquor. It would be easy to add something to poison tourists. Or it could be the cheap liquor they bought was basically poison.
So is Youtube now curating content when they rank searches based on their preferences? I just don’t understand why they don’t say, publish what you want as long as it isn’t inciting violence, X rated sex, etc. and we’ll let the market decide what is and isn’t popular.
I don’t know, but maybe their lawyers told them being honest about their real intentions – only allowing content that makes team blue look good and team red bad – might result in problems?
Some of the folks that I follow have seen their new subs just fall off a cliff in the last few months. Notifications aren’t going through and relegation seems to be rampant. It’s the same bullshit that Google has been pulling.
Same company.
I really hope more creators mirror to other sites… but the apolitical content ones don’t care or even support this shit behind the scenes. I just wish i knew who they were to unsubscribe.
The political class will make sure that entities like Google, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple’s monopolies remain protected, and no startup, especially one from the other side, stands a chance. They learned their lesson from Fox News. Mendacious as that entity is, it has been a thorn in their side because it was one of the main reason that the team blue operatives with bylines lost control of the narrative the unwashed masses were allowed to hear.
Was. Roger Ailes was getting removed even before he croaked. The current direction is even more ho hum middle. I expect it will continue leftward while at the same time being decried as an example of a right wing extremist media outlet.
Amash should be vilified for thinking Twatter is an appropriate venue for anything resembling serious thought.
Meh. He uses the Book of Faces too.
That is not mitigation for his twitsins.
Ah. The hand-held guide to extramarital affairs! Or so Wifey would term it when I was on it. “All those women are too damn friendly!” Needless to say, Festus don’t use Facestalk no mo.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai defended YouTube’s censorship practices in a recent interview following the latest round of content creator demonetization and bannings caused by leftist outlet Vox.
And that’s that. Go eat a bag of dicks you piece of shit Pichai. In the end, they’re all just faux-righteous punks in suits with money. That’s all these little shit stain tyrants really are.
Bitchute it is indeed.
When your monopoly depends on the people in government passing laws that protect it, you will be forced to play the game by their rules Rufus. And that’s what people seem to be missing today. Team blue was once the party of the working little guys, and, at least in their words, was against these monopolies of the wealthy, accusing team red of being the party of the rich (millionaires). Today team blue is the party of the multi-billionaires protecting their monopolies and those that vote for a living.
If anyone wants to argue whether fascism or communism won the fight, the answer is fascism did. Today we have governments that collude with some of the chose ultra rich to create monopolies that keep out the rabble (picking winners & losers). Sure we don’t need to kill or imprison political enemies anymore like the old days, because now these fascists just use the courts and the law to destroy their enemies financially.
You’re right, even the Chinese communists are fascists nowadays.
Absolutely. The fascist model of collectivism is one that allows the government to control everything, and as a bonus, have the avenue to then blame the private sector when they fuck shit up. Communism, by its very nature, doesn’t allow the inept fucks that always run things to blame others with ease. Who but a marxist cunt ever bought into the oft told excuse/lie that old time Soviet style communism failed because the wrong people were in charge or the capitalists undermined it, instead of the fact that as a philosophy -politically and economically – it is about one of the most stupid and evil things ever invented by humanity? When our political betters realized the new brand of soft fascism allowed them to just use the state’s own legal system to bankrupt and destroy their enemies, they all embraced it wholeheartedly. And whenever shit goes wrong you blame capitalism! Most people are not smart enough to realize we have not had capitalism of any kind since the collectivists redefined things.
Also-
Happy B-day, fourscore. Keep pedaling.
Mornin’ Banjos! “Ballroom Blitz” was a staple of our elementary school dances before you were a glint in your Dad’s eye! Girls on one side of the gym, boys on the other. Awkward, sweaty times… Thanks for that!
It’s like lightning!
“And we all started Groooooving!”
The only dancing I remember in elementary school was square dancing.
+1 Cotton-Eye’d Joe (cross, kick! back-two-three)
Oh we did that too. In Junior High we had Disco. I could probly still do the first bars of The Hustle if you plied me with enough alcohol. Back in elementary school we called those dances “Sock-Hops” and everyone wore an onion on their belt.
Wait, I think I saw this movie… You lived in some repressive portestant town and it took some outsider kid to come in and save you all through the power of the dance? Or is this the one where the chick sits on a chair in leotards during a dance audition and pours water on herself? I get those confused…
Mornin’
Hi Banjos!
Sweet song!
Mornin’
Morning music. New stuff from the Black Keys. I like their stuff, and I really, really like this Eagle Birds. In fact, the song is too damn short.
I’m a fan of the Black Keys too.
My youngest girl has been a fan for years.
Obligatory: http://exclaim.ca/images/up-2black_keys.jpg
They’re the ones with the nerdy guy that sweats all over his drumset, right?
My wife was in one of their music videos. She said they were pretty good guys as well.
https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/sport/m-basebl/
In case you missed it. Pigs are headed back to Baum Stadium-North.
No, no! You are supposed to say “My internet is out, does anyone have the Arkansas score?”
My internet was actually out all day yesterday. Some schmoe knocked over a pole and cut the feed for the northern part of the province. I felt naked and afraid and then I got some yard work done before my shift.
We, in America, are all have that feeling everyday with net neutrality gone.
Still don’t know the Cal score.
I agree with Pence.
That jerk off Justin did that here. It’s mindless bull shit and it’s NOT an OFFICIAL flag.
“NBC News first reported last week that the Trump administration had rejected requests from at least four U.S. embassies to fly rainbow pride flags during the month of June. Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia were among the countries that reportedly received denials.”
Do you know who else wanted to fly flags in Germany?
Teutonic Knights?
Joachim Löw?
Shnott Goo is the secret ingredient!
Stalin?
Nein.
Us?
You talking about the Justin Bieber vs. Tom Cruise idiot fight? I had no idea Pence decided to take that up.
Yep, and it’s ridiculous this is even an “issue”. It’s almost like certain embassy officials wanted to make it one on purpose.
Whenever I hear him speak I get a visceral reaction. It’s like “Ugh, this guy!” and then I want to leave the room but then I realize that the room is my country and this dip-shit is going to win again. Then I smolder.
That’s been the case since 1992.
The emails also show how misleading, by omission, the Mueller report’s public portrayal of Kilimnik turns out to be.
Well sure, but he had to in order to save us from Der Drumpfenfuhrer.
But do you know who else had a Ukrainian connection?
The fact that we now are on revelation 15 or twenty something about how much manipulation of the facts or creating the illusion of guilt by omitting exculpatory evidence that shitshow report contains, with a ton more sure to come, worries me. How can people still think this thing deserves to be taken seriously? How can people not see this is not about any crime but an attempt at a coup? I guess it is mostly people looking to add a veneer of legitimacy to their coup attempt and nothing else.
How is the FISA court not losing their shit over this? Who knows, maybe they are, but we can’t know about it. Not sure what their options are re the executive branch.
A) We don’t know that they aren’t
B) We have no reason to not suspect they are fully onboard
C) This is why you can’t have secret courts in a free country
Seriously, I would expect FISA court judges to demand those culpable in pulling this fast and loose shit be held accountable because it impugned the very system they have been put in charge of, but so far nary a peep…. I guess they have accepted the banana republic system too.
Their job is to rubberstamp bullshit. Why would the guy at the DMV care that someone got a fake ID using a forged documentation? His job is to make sure somebody presented him with stuff that looked legit and stamp the fucking paperwork.
Kermitski da Frog?
Modeling Agencies?
The Schmengmi Brothers?
This 2nd generation circus clown/immigrant at my workplace?
*maybe more than 2nd generation. I can’t really understand the guy.
I have a few Bosnian clients. Sometimes the parents call to give me “advice” on how to run the son’s case. . . it’s like I need a translator when that happens.
“WHAT? I CAN’T HEAR YOU! SOME IDIOT MUST BE RUNNING THE MICROWAVE NEXT DOOR!”
Dr. Groovus Maximus?
“Attorney General William Barr’s review of surveillance against the Trump campaign is “broad in scope and multifaceted,” a Justice Department official told Congress on Monday.”
Its gonna be the same old song and dance it has always been.
“We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing. Procedures were followed. Blah, blah, blah.
No one will ever be held accountable for anything and the spying will continue as it always has.
Its gonna be the same old song and dance it has always been.
I thought you were going here.
Or here.
My first thought.
Thank you. That’s what I was expecting.
One of my Saturday morning favorites
I could be wrong, but I understand that Attorney General Barr appointed John Durham to investigate Mueller and that Durham is not a fan of Robert Mueller. This is not definitive, but it may or may not be a sign that the investigation of the investigation will not be a typical coverup.
Broad in scope and multifaceted is how HM likes his women.
Amash hacker: would.
Hacker? HECKLER. Fucking autocorrect.
BREAKING: Amber Heard bought a bra.

Also, some evil lying cunt wrote a book.
Moms Demand Action… it’s not possible for me to hear that and not chuckle. Who came up with that and moreover, who approved it?
If I had the money and the knowhow, I would make a porn parody called MILFs Demand Action.
In fact, maybe it could be a Glibs team effort. Some of you have got to know how to make a movie; of course no one here could be on screen talent, especially since TANLW.
Think about it.
TANLW?
There are no libertarian women.
There ain’t no libertarian women?
Shortened version of TINSTAALW.
[Furiously starts typing-up “treatment.”]
HAH HAH HAH!
What does movie making have to do with porn?
Yeah ol Amber needs to really up the social signaling these days.
I think she’s incredibly beautiful, much like a Siberian Tiger or a view of the Earth from space without a suit.
There’s a waitress at the local watering hole who looks a lot like her – but even better.
I seriously don’t know a single one of the scarecrows shown in the photographs.
This is why your grain yields never meet projections.
“[I]t is of great importance to the Department to protect classified information by preventing the unwarranted disclosure of sensitive sources, methods, techniques and materials where such disclosure would endanger the personal safety of U.S. government employees or friendly foreign partners, harm U.S. national security interests, or compromise the ability of U.S. government agencies to conduct their important work to protect the American people,” Boyd wrote Nadler.
“I hold you in contempt for attempting to follow federal law!” – Nadler
WE WANT OUR CIRCUS FOLLOWED BY A COUP!
Yeah, Nads is pretty much the definition of a party hack, isn’t he?
Nothing to see here. Omar spokesman says her tax filings were completely legal.
A+ for brazenness. This isn’t some esoteric wrinkle in tax law that she is accused of running afoul of. The fact that MPR and a few local stations are starting to talk about this is bad news for Omar.
Her supporters are going to have to do some impressive mental gymnastics to come up with a reason why it was totes OK for her to file jointly with a guy she wasn’t married to.
It is interesting that her divorce was performed in the “Muslim faith tradition” instead of in a legal court. If I ran ICE, I’d sure be interested in that. It sounds like she was doing her very best to keep her first husband legally in the clear to come to the US. I wonder if there are any laws that might have been broken by not reporting to ICE that her ex was no longer legally eligible to live here?
Man, I’d send ICE money if they’d do something.
Hi, Banjos. Happy birthday, Fourscore. To put into content “Key figure in Mueller report described as having connections to Russian intelligence is a State Department intel source.,” if you have not read it already, I recommend Banjos’ https://glibertarians.com/2019/06/spygate-a-summary-of-events/ “Was the ‘body’ an animal or human body? And if animal, was it one of those we normally eat or one of those that are pets?” Enacted the labor for you. Banjos’ link leads to an article which itself contains a link that leads to a second article that explains male ex-human preliminary natural causes. And really…no Glib comment yet about those Biden/Obama “bromance” pictures or about males their ages exchanging friendship bracelets?
no Glib comment yet about those Biden/Obama “bromance” pictures or about males their ages exchanging friendship bracelets?
What are they supposed to exchange? Friendship cock rings?
Long protein strings.
Don’t you have to eat a special diet for something like that?
Lots of celery, l-arginine and lecithin.
Stalk for the Cock
Got it.
I thought nitrates were anti-aphrodesiac?
We’re just talkin’ increased volume here. Plenty of other stuff to add in to hit the other necessary high notes.
And pineapple or asparagus for special flavoring?
Have you seen the price of celery lately?
[golf clap for “friendship cock rings”]
The only problem with them, is that your wife ends up with your buddies name stamped in her ass (in reverse) after a good pounding.
Might make ballistics a more interesting job.

“As one does”.
So Durant seems to have a torn Achilles. Bad timing… Now endless discussions on whether the warriors made him play or it was his decision.
I don’t think it is a complete tear. If it was, the nation could have gagged a bit as they watched his calf muscle roll up in slo-mo.
It is enough to almost make me feel sort of bad for Durant. He finally comes back and gets a new injury. How will he ever lead the Knicks to glory now?
It must’ve been connected to the old injury. Same lower part of the same leg.
It may not be… probably find out tomorrow,
‘Mikan was slowed by a broken ankle in that series.’
https://www.celtic-nation.com/blog/2018/12/09/the-arnie-risen-interview/
The way BB used to be played
On the play he injured it on, he didn’t move that strenuously at all. Just a normal side step. That tells me he was no where near ready to come back and the medical team should’ve known that.
Yeah but it is the finals… and those efficient 11 point may have won the game
Did you see the Warriors exec bawling as he talked about it after the game? He knew he just potentially cost KD bucket loads of cash. He did look great in those 11 or 12 minutes.
Eh I think his game is not so athleticism-focus as some others can survive a tear… He still has a year player option to recover. And he may be back almost 100%.\
The warriors may give him the max anyway. Or like the Knicks.
You never know. The team isn’t going to tell us unless it’s minor. Still, once 7 footers start getting injury problems, it raises red flags. I never liked him going to GS anyways, so I don’t really care.
Maybe they did, but these guys have the eye of the tiger and they are looking for any excuse to play in the finals, consequences be damned. If he wasn’t ready to go, he could have held himself out.
So, local sports radio had a guy call in who claimed to have an inside scoop. The alleged story is that the original injury was, in fact, an Achilles strain. Team docs didn’t clear him per se but basically said he’d fully recover assuming he took the time to do rehab. KD wanted to get in the game, was hearing more or less what he wanted to hear about his recovery status, and what it came down to was a failure of team docs and management to save him from himself.
I don’t know how true that is, of course. Interesting theory, though.
Its a tough thing, but if you don’t want to play hurt in the NBA Finals with your team facing elimination, no matter how many rings you have already, I don’t want you on my team. KD knew he could go from hurt to injured if he played. Better to get injured trying than have to look at yourself in the mirror and wonder.
“From @PaulKrugman: This tweet raises two immediate questions:
1. Why, like so many Trump tweets, does it read like a bad translation from the original Russian?
2. What the heck is he talking about?”
https://twitter.com/nytopinion/status/1137739162222759936
Still with the Russia nonsense?
Gee Paulie, maybe do your fucking job and find out, instead of spreading BS FUD?
Spreading BS FUD is in fact his job.
I think Alinsky pointed out that once you told a certainly lie for effect and to reach an outcome, you stuck with it to the bitter end. Otherwise people might catch on and you might lose the power to shape what the unwashed masses actually believe regardless of the facts…
i think he meant to write : “our great comrade patriot farmers.”
Because Trump is the communist…

I saw about this on a Romanian enw site and was very puzzled as to why is this news in Romania…. apparently 18000 pounds of them. so i dunno BEEEES
Everything that happens in the world is news everywhere now. It is a bit exhausting.
This is why I only read the local county newspaper. It’s just a handful of part time writers going to local events and covering them.
Not the bees?
I hope Michael is safe.
As soon as I find my veil I’m on my way to help

Do you routinely see nine tons of bees on the

#4. #14 for, well, obvious reasons.
2, 22, 32. Me no like silicon “enhancements”. Says the guy covered in tattoos.
Good morning all. Traveling and the hotel restaurant had on CNN this morning. Top headline: “Biden to Eviscerate Trump Today in Iowa Speech”. I think they’re going to need a bigger tank.
Funny how hotels still think CNN is some TV channel they can put on so as not to offend anybody.
When not towing the lion results in progressives trying to destroy your business for hurting their feelings, can you blame these cowardly entities?
From chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-met-chicago-cop-fired-sexual-favors-20190520-story.html :
“Alexander was placed on paid desk duty in June 2012, the month after the girl’s mother notified authorities, yet it wasn’t until August 2018 that the disciplinary charges were brought before the Police Board. Alexander was then suspended without pay. As a result, Alexander was on paid desk duty for nearly half of his almost 13 years with the department. Records show he was paid about $87,000 a year most recently.” Skipping forward to the ‘news’ part why CT published this on May 28, 2019: “The Chicago Police Board voted 9-0 to dismiss Officer Darius Alexander while sharply criticizing the Police Department for its delay of more than six years in bringing the disciplinary charges.” Charges that were brought before the board the previous August. h/t Charles Oliver @ TOS

You and your narrowminded nitpicking. We must expand our understanding of the intricacies of love. You’re just a socon bigot, like Pence.
He’s using a white colonialist understanding of tax law.
It’s white colonialists fault that nobody but white colonialists can understand white colonial tax law.
Shitlord.
Truckload of bees overturns, closing Bozeman intersection
Fake news. Trump killed all the bees.
Climate change was the proximate cause, working under Trump’s orders.
Is this the broad that supposedly married her brother? I think her supporters will be able to handle the mental gymnastics with no problem.
Yes. Same gal.
There has been some decent reporting that showed that while she was “married” to the mystery man, the guy who had children with her (and is the current legal husband) was living at the same address as the “couple”.
Any decent reporter should be able to go to whatever mosque she and her paramours used for all these Muslim faith ceremonies and ask to see the register to find out if there were any ceremonies at all.
Or press her on exactly who the mystery husband was. Where did they meet, where is he now?
Give Mueller another $20M and see what he can come up with.

I miss Toni Tennille-Oh, that was “Muskrat Love” , not Muslin Love. Sorry
It’s also a hard societal problem because we need better frameworks around what is hate speech, what’s not, and how do we as a company make those decisions at scale, and get it right without making mistakes.
“We need to make sure we can control the narrative and, in turn, control people.”
Progs really are that stupid. They can’t possibly conceive how the constantly shifting goalposts will eventually turn on them and their hobby horses will start getting censored and/or banned.
Today me, tomorrow you.
You assume that they see the constantly shifting/moving goal posts as a detriment of any kind. In fact, I think they see it as a bonus and must have to keep the shitshow rolling. When your entire argument is predicated on setting up arbitrary standards to be used to go after the other guy, having a solidly defined set of criteria that can apply to your people as well, is a clear negative. An ever mutating set of criteria however, can always be mutated to give your people a pass while demanding accountability from your political enemies. This is about having a double standard, being able to project, and using a false narrative to take down the opposition. It was and never will eb about any sorts of real principles.
It’s a made-up “crime” developed in order to punish people for their thoughts. There is no “framework” – it’s entirely political.
Exactly. Here’s how you cut this particular Gordian knot: eliminate “hate speech” as a legal concept.
But I’m enjoying muppets like him talking in circles trying to pretend there is some internal logic to it.

They’re a good platform and they’re going to be edgy because they receive the content that isn’t allowed elsewhere. Any truly free speech platform is going to be offensive as hell.
Yes – Hopefully it won’t come to define the place, but by leaving that stuff up, you know they mean it.
If YouTube keeps pushing Google’s agenda, it’s going to be as offensive as Bitchute. Just in a different way.

That was just him “accidentally” putting it in your ass. You’ll get used to it.
I thought it was just him tagging in his buddy who had been hiding under the bed. That is what a big cock feels like sweetie.

You ever do a Houdini your holiness?
That’s when you have doggie style sex with your woman, while making her look at a window, and you quickly & quietly switch with a buddy and then run outside to wave at her…
My wife hates that one simple trick!
I dunno, she seemed fine with it when it was me.

That look on her face in the pictures clearly says “putting it in this crazy is gonna cost you one of your nuts”…
“I don’t know what’s scarier, getting your balls squeezed so hard they bleed or that it happens so often there’s actually a term for it.”
The past track record of violence against genitals definitely shifts that matrix around. Slashed tires are one thing, but attacks on the Purple Headed Warrior will not be tolerated.
So that’s what it takes for the woman to get arrested in a domestic violence call. Still, pretty high bar.
Not even in the ballpark of hot enough
In the ballpark?
Man does she have a future with the German tourists

The report said the woman — identified as 21-year-old Katie Lee Pitchford – had become “enraged” during an argument. The alleged victim, who was not identified, reportedly told the officers that Pitchford had struck him “with her fists and scratched the left side of his face.”
An arrest affidavit, cited by the Miami Herald, said the man’s face was bloodied and had visible bruising. The man reportedly told officers that Pitchford had grabbed him “by his b—s and squeezed them until they bled.”
She seems nice.

Flares for men are making a style comeback, but would you brave the look?
When I was a little kid I had a couple pairs of pants like that – really hated how they felt when walking. So no.
“trews”
I think the answer is fucking hell no…
They were kinda handy while you waited at the bus stop. That warmth just stayed in the legs. Just got some old photos from my Aunt and yes, yes I am wearing flares. Giant flares. And tiny shirts.
Are we not calling them bell-bottoms any more? That’s the only term I ever heard for them back in the day.

Fuck all that.

So what is the libertarian position on building huge roadworks next to Stonehenge in England?
https://twitter.com/SaveStonehenge/status/1138336685916213248
It saves on paving material costs.
It’s cool that England has all their other issues sorted.
Meh I am not a fan of saying an issue is not an issue just because there are bigger issues out there. Especially since some have nothing to do with the others…
Ok, try this:
This particular libertarian doesn’t give a flying fuck about Stonehenge or the huge roadworks.
Well you should have said that in the first place
Cause second place is just the first loser, right Pie?
First, define “libertarian.”
Needz Zardoz head, not roadz.
Near it? okay.
Through it? Bad.
But what about the duplicate stonehenge?
You mean Carhenge?
No, I was making a Niven reference from Protector.
I can’t speak to the libertarian position, but my personal opinion is that Stonehenge is technically public property, which means that it belongs to the people of Britain. The problem is that the British people are represented in this regard by the government of Britain, which doesn’t seem to give two shits about what the people want. Sadly, said government doesn’t allow a private party to purchase the land AFAIK, and even if they did would probably not hesitate to exercise the British equivalent of eminent domain. So, my opinion is that if it’s ultimately up to the British government to refrain from harming or destroying something that is of profound historical significance to Britain, British people, people of British descent, and really the entire world, then you better go and see it now while you still can.
Are they using the stones to hold up a bridge?
There used to be a roadway right next to Stonehenge until it was removed. And a pedestrian tunnel from the visitors center to the stones.

There are just too many awesome lines in that film.
Without getting into whether or not I count as “libertarian,” my position is they should not use taxes to do it or deficit spending “paid for” by the kind of borrowing for which the debt payments will be paid by taxes.
IIRC: Once upon a time, victimless crimes in Iceland were, as the cliché goes, few and far between. Instead of watching people being fed to lions or watching teams try to score points with balls, their national pastime was watching real life courtroom drama of people suing each other. Iceland’s top lawyers had their own fans. At the time, Iceland required membership in a group of usually about 10 to 30 people and required each group to themselves have membership in one or more litigation insurance co-op(s) unless the group of usually about 10 to 30 people were collectively sufficiently wealthy. If somehow this led to judgements not being paid, and if the group of usually 10 to 30 did not pay it themselves or find others who would pay it on their behalf, the adjudication had the alternative options of banishment and indentured servitude. Violating the terms of said banishment or servitude was punishable by banishment, death, servitude, or slavery.
IIRC: Regarding roads, that government’s initial policy was no government involvement. Later, they decided that disputes involving landowners about roads was not sufficiently entertaining and in too high a quantity, so they legally required that before one road joins another road with different ownership that they have to meet certain minimum standards about deciding beforehand about certain issues and providing sufficient notice to third party/parties about what they agreed to. They also passed an unfunded mandate requiring that roads within the city limits of the national capital, Reykjavík, had to be paved with cobblestones. The cobblestones created a self-enforcing speed limit for the horses and trimmed their hooves. Eventually, Icelanders voted in favor of the national government confiscating ownership of all of Iceland’s roads based on a promise by the government to convert the roads from being optimized for horses to being optimized for horseless internal combustion engine powered vehicles. Today, Iceland has an Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration and an Icelandic Transport Authority, but Iceland still has dirt roads and gravel roads instead of all of the roads outside of the tourism/pedestrian only areas being paved with asphalt or concrete.

Oberlin College doesn’t really understand how the lawsuit they are currently losing works – so they double down on stupid.
It’s like they want to give away a few extra million isn’t it?
I actually applaud them for doubling down. I hope they triple down too. I hope they keep going until the last nail is nailed into their coffin. We really need catastrophic results to occur for these people to finally wizen up that they are not going to keep getting away with this fascist shit they do so it will stop.
I agree that wizening would be good in this case. Mummy Oberlin would be less trouble.
“Substantively, the email is infuriating to anyone who has followed the case. Oberlin College and Raimondo were not “held liable for the independent actions of their students.” Rather, the defendants were held liable for their own conduct in aiding and abetting the publication of libelous documents, interference with business, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Let me repeat, it was the college’s and Raimondo’s own conduct that was at issue before the jury. That the General Counsel of Oberlin College doesn’t understand that — even if she disagrees with the jury conclusion — tells me something went very wrong with the way this case was handled internally at Oberlin College.”
The General Counsel at Oberlin was an affirmative action hire, obv.
As if you have ever seen a liberal compelled to tell the truth or win an argument based on facts, logic, and reason instead of emotional and appeal to the power of identity politics. When you believe the truth is whatever you want to define it as, then the real truth never is a requirement for you to make an argument for whatever evil and horrible shit you are peddling.
The best part is their insurer is making noises about not providing coverage if Oberlin is liable. If the plaintiffs get the damages, that’ll end up being a nice chunk out of Oberlin’s endowment.
(checks…)
OK, like 4% of their endowment – i.e., a bad year by their fund managers. Still, it should sting – maybe they’ll learn something?

Nonono only the wrong kinds of gays and lesbians. It was just a small intersectional adjustment.
The sad thing is that with identity politics, which claims to want to tear down the existing pyramids of power, you have a system that replaces it with another pyramid of power that amounts mostly to a giant stack of shit. I understand meritocracies in this day and age suck to people that have no chance, but deciding to punish others by dragging them down to your level is neither cool nor good for humanity. After all, as Heinlein pointed out, “bad luck” is really only people letting their envy destroy those that bring prosperity and “good luck”…

KKKorporate medicine is killing us
It is true that health care has become corporatized to an almost unrecognizable degree. But it is also true that most clinicians remain committed to the ethics that brought them into the field in the first place. This makes the hospital an inspiring place to work.
Increasingly, though, I’ve come to the uncomfortable realization that this ethic that I hold so dear is being cynically manipulated. By now, corporate medicine has milked just about all the “efficiency” it can out of the system. With mergers and streamlining, it has pushed the productivity numbers about as far as they can go. But one resource that seems endless — and free — is the professional ethic of medical staff members.
This ethic holds the entire enterprise together. If doctors and nurses clocked out when their paid hours were finished, the effect on patients would be calamitous. Doctors and nurses know this, which is why they don’t shirk. The system knows it, too, and takes advantage.
———
The health care system needs to be restructured to reflect the realities of patient care. From 1975 to 2010, the number of health care administrators increased 3,200 percent. There are now roughly 10 administrators for every doctor. If we converted even half of those salary lines to additional nurses and doctors, we might have enough clinical staff members to handle the work. Health care is about taking care of patients, not paperwork.
Those at the top need to think about the ramifications of their decisions. Counting on nurses and doctors to suck it up because you know they won’t walk away from their patients is not just bad strategy. It’s bad medicine.
Woe is me. My job is hard. Those bad old corporations want me to do more.
Much of this is true, I’m sure, but my kneejerk response is to assume she’s pointing her finger in the wrong direction. Isn’t the electronic records mandate a government regulation? As for “shifting payrolls from administration to care” maybe she should look into that “certificate of need” thingy.
I dislike in a sense corporate medicine and “Big Pharma” and think there are a ton of problems with it, but it is still necessary and there are no better alternatives aka government. Well some actual free market may work but aint no one got time for that… The main solution is for people to be better informed and make better choices, but the people don’t care for that and want someone (aka the government) to make all things magically right without any effort on their part. It is a conundrum.
Put unaccountable and petty government bureaucrats which can’t ever be held accountable in charge, cause that will really fix it!
/fucking envious & stupid morons
Reads like a call for “universal health care” to me.
Much of it is indeed true but there is an even deeper problem…
10 administrators for every doctor, convert half of them to nursed and doctors mean somewhere between doubling and tripling both the number of doctors and nurses. Where exactly are all of these trained health care providers going to come from? Do they honestly think for one second that there is just this huge pool of out of work doctors and nurses that they can just hire tomorrow? No pretty much every single doctor and nurse in the country, hell the world is already employed. Sure you might be able to bring in a handful who left the field for whatever reason but that isn’t going to increase the total number of health care providers by even 10% and you might be able to get another 30% or so by poaching them from other countries and collapsing those countries health care systems, Where you going to come up with the rest?
Oh so we have to start training more doctors and nurses you say? Great, where are you going to find the people to train? The course requirements to become a doctor means you are dealing with the top 2 or 3% of the country in terms of IQ and Medicine is already a socially and financially rewarding enough field that pretty much everyone who has both the intelligence and other requisite mental capabilities to actually do the job already go into it so again you could maybe over time boost the number of doctors available to be hired by about 10% over what we have today. As far as nurses, sure the requirements for that job are less demanding from an IQ standpioint but they are pretty rigorous in terms of having the right personality and mindset, so while you could probably find a larger pool of people capable of becoming nurses you still are not going to come anywhere near tripling the number of them available to hire.
So under the absolute best case scenario you *might* be able to increase the supply of doctors by 50% over where we are today and nurses you could maybe double
This gets to the root of the problem for EVERYONE who thinks they know what needs to be done to solve the health care issue, until they deal with the fact that there is simply no way for us to ever get enough trained health care providers per capita to deliver the services we want to receive so it doesn’t matter whether we use single payer, or fully socialized, or a completely free market system the reality is not everyone is going to get the medical care we want/need The question is which system gets us as close as we possibly can and makes the choices of who loses out on care in the best way.
If we converted even half of those salary lines to additional nurses and doctors, we might have enough clinical staff members to handle the work.
I’d like to know who they are counting as administrators. If, as I suspect, its just about anybody not a frontline provider, then for every 5 “administrators” you fire, you could probably add a little more than 1 FTE primary care doctor, , some fraction of an FTE specialist, between 1.5 and 2.0 FTE advance practice nurses, and depending on the specialty, and around 3.0 FTE RNs. Of course, RNs mostly work in hospitals and maybe nursing homes these days, and the demand for them is probably as high as its going to get right now.
You know where most of those administrators have to be? In the payor bureaucracies, in the pharma and device companies, etc. Because they sure aren’t in the actual hospitals and physician groups, not 10 per doctor. Not even close. IOW, in parts of the system that don’t employ providers. How you are going to ship their personnel budgets to the parts of the system that do employ providers is a mystery.
Robots.
But seriously, I was reading the wiki article about the robotic cranial drill the other day, reduces time to get into the skull from hours to minutes. That’s how you free up your Professional Skillers.

I guess the average American doesn’t know about the franking privilege that they’d get as a member of Congress. Imagine being able to send all the mail you want for free!
It would be great if you were an Ebay or Etsy seller!
Jeff Bezos should run for congress! Amazon would be hugely profitable over night!

No shit. But some still got around it by hanging the pride flag elsewhere. They should all be fired for insubordination.
Meh. I don’t care about them doing it elsewhere. I would love to see them try it in, say, Saudi Arabia though.
Virginia Beach shooting victim considered taking gun to work over concerns about colleague.
But she decided not to break the law – now she’d dead.
I’m starting to see a trend…
If you are going to put up a “no guns” sign, you better damn well be ready to enforce it with enough security to enforce it. These assholes think the sign itself is the enforcement.
That’s a good point. I’d occasionally sit in my cubicle at work (no weapons allowed, natch) and reflect on how easy it would be for someone like that guy to just waltz in and go to town.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Gravure_shooting
One of the women injured (and paralyzed, I believe) in that shooting had a gun in her desk, but didn’t take it into the hall with her because of the law. She stepped into the hall to see what was going on and got shot.
She testified for KY’s concealed carry law in the 90s.
The positive about being able to carry a gun when feeling threatened is that if the threat turns out to be nothing the person you were concerned about is unaware and unaffected. While if you call the cops about someone and you never know what is going to happen next (death is always a possibility).

We Need Fully Automated Luxury Communism
But there’s a catch. It’s called capitalism. It has created the newly emerging abundance, but it is unable to share round the fruits of technological development. A system where things are produced only for profit, capitalism seeks to ration resources to ensure returns. Just like today’s, companies of the future will form monopolies and seek rents. The result will be imposed scarcity — where there’s not enough food, health care or energy to go around.
I gotta be honest — if Culture-style communism were possible, I wouldn’t object to it. At a certain point hedonism and perception of freedom become more important than “actual” freedom.

The Tax Proposal That Refuses to Die: New Jersey’s Millionaire’s Tax
The state has already received more revenue than projected due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act’s (TCJA) base-broadening provisions and has the third-highest top marginal rates in the country at 10.75 percent, the rate Gov. Murphy now wishes to extend to more taxpayers. (The next-highest rate in New Jersey, imposed on income above $500,000, is 8.97 percent).
The millionaire’s tax is a legislative zombie, killed and reanimated repeatedly by Garden State politicians. New Jersey was the first state to pass a true millionaire’s tax in 2004 when then-Gov. Jim McGreevey (D) approved an 8.97 percent income tax rate on incomes over $1 million. In 2009, then-Governor Jon Corzine (D) increased the rate to 10.75 percent for one year.
There’s a reason you have to pay a toll to enter Pennsylvania on the Ben Franklin Bridge but you can re-enter New Jersey for free.
I recently read that FOX will not be permitted to broadcast the upcoming Dem debates this summer. The DNC has some issue with their reporting.
I got the idea that FOX should make a short puppet show of the Dem debates using puppets for each of the 15 or so candidates. Make the puppets look exactly like the candidates and have them debate using the most ridiculous statements the various people have made, and of course add some exaggerations to make it as ridiculous as possible. FOX could run this in the same time slot as the debates, and then put it on YouTube.
You might have them argue about abortion, each one extending it into older and older ages: “Fourth trimester?? How about 40th trimester? That would give the mother real freedom to choose!!” “Why should we end it at all? It would save the mother’s mental health if she didn’t have to listen to backtalk from those brats.” “And they should be free!” “Free, no these poor moms need reparations for being impregnated due to testosterone poisoning. Make it at least $50,000. More if the fetus is older than 3 years.”
Or socialism: “America has been successfully implementing socialism for decades – look at Social Security and Medicare. I am fully in support of such social programs.” “Oh yeah, well I think that’s a pale imitation of the real thing! We need cradle to grave security, guaranteed jobs, and government regulation of farming.” “And we definitely need to root out anti-government activists and lock them away … for the children. We could establish ‘safe spaces’ for them, away from the cities. Maybe on government farms or in government mines.” “Indeed, a string of such camps to show the dignity of labor – you know, labor camps. Like a string of small islands with only the good agricultural practices. What’s the word for that again…?” “An archipelago. We could call it a Good-Ag Archipelago!”
And free stuff. “Health care is a human right. Medicare for all!” “Not just healthcare. You know what’s even more important …. FOOD. Food must be a human right, too. Free food for all”. “And how about housing? Who wants their fellow citizens to sleep out on the streets? Free housing for all!” “And not some little hovel, each person must have at least 1,000 sq ft of space.” “With nice furniture and a modern kitchen!” “And a two car garage.” Etc, etc, etc
In following weeks, to keep it interesting, the puppets might be replaced with cartoons, or marionettes, or just faces painted on someone’s hand (like they did on Big Chuck/Little John.
Ridicule is very effective at downgrading someone’s standing, their reputation. Remember “I can see Russia from my house.”??
Do you think this would interest FOX or the RNC?
So no one is going to watch the Democrat debates?

They’ll claim massive ratings anyway.
“Debate” is a bad term anyway since it will most likely resemble an echo chamber. A fight to see who can discern themselves the least. The 60 people in the country outside of DC that fool themselves into thinking this will be informative will wind up thinking they stumbled onto The View and switch over to Fox because they will think that’s where the actual debate is being televised.
““Debate” is a bad term anyway since it will most likely resemble an echo chamber.”
Will they only share the question with their preferred candidate or with all the donkeys this time around so they can all look way smarter than they are after having time to think about how to produce a non-answer answer that appeals to those driven by envy of what others have and their own personal greed?

“You see!!! Fox is broadcasting fake news! Those weren’t even the real Democratic candidates. They were attempts to fool the voters into thinking they were the candidates!”
“Doctored video of the debates”

Yeah, right.
“I recently read that FOX will not be permitted to broadcast the upcoming Dem debates this summer. The DNC has some issue with their reporting.”
Do they even have the authority to do that?
How does that mesh with their whole “Trump is attacking the freedom of the press” bullshit?
Freedom of the press for me but not for thee?
From Straffinrun’s NYT link:
To say the present era is one of crisis borders on cliché. It differs from the dystopias of George Orwell or Aldous Huxley, or hell in the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. It is unlike Europe during the Black Death or Central Asia as it faced the galloping Golden Horde. And yet it is true: Ours is an age of crisis. We inhabit a world of low growth, low productivity and low wages, of climate breakdown and the collapse of democratic politics. A world where billions, mostly in the global south, live in poverty. A world defined by inequality.
Thank goodness it’s not just another doomsday cult.
Luxury for some, communism for others.

Well I’m shocked

USMNT: 3 reasons to worry about Gregg Berhalter
For those of you who follow US soccer. This is looking like a coaching disaster. I can only hope they act quickly if the US bows out of the Gold cup early.
I watched the Jamaica game, the future looks bleak. Omar Gonzalez being the MOTM says everything.
Berhalter should never have been hired in the first place.
Bring in Ranieri.
Holy shit, they sucked on Saturday. I’d have cut the goalie after the game along with all of the defenders.
To be fair, the whole program was a dumpster fire before Berhalter. Too bad he’s making it worse.
They should get another European to coach the team. That way the new European coach can move to the US and then suck at his job, but he doesn’t have to go back to Europe so it all works out for him.
Maybe they could wheel-in Landon Donovan and he can score one goal in a game and then decide that he needs to take a hiatus for no reason whatsoever.
My God, we are all going to tell our kids about the glory days of Bruce Arena
“You should have seen Alexi Lalas back in the day. He was an average defender, but his hair was all wacky and stuff. Ah, the gold days.”
Leaving California for Texas
I’ve argued before U-Haul’s one-way truck rental rates are market-based to reflect relative demand and relative supply. In California there’s a relatively low supply of trucks available and a relatively high demand for trucks destined for Texas; in Texas there’s a relatively high supply of trucks and a relatively low demand for trucks going to California. Therefore, U-Haul charges 3-4 times more for one-way truck rentals going from San Francisco or LA to Houston or Dallas than vice-versa based on what must be a huge net outflow of trucks leaving California (leading to low inventory) and a net inflow of trucks arriving in Texas (leading to high inventory).
I hope they don’t turn Texas blue.
Honestly, I’d love to see a law overturning the SCOTUS decision limiting residency requirements for voting. I really don’t see anything wrong with expecting people to get used to a place and understand how it works before having a say in how it is run.
14th amendment. Would rather not, because that kind of law would really, really be abused.
Between the northeasterners continuing to come into the state and the number of Puerto Ricans who have moved here since the hurricane, I’m fully expecting Florida to be blue in 2020. They would’ve won the governorship last year if they’d run a decent candidate.
Meh, even if the growth were entirely organic, Texas and Florida would turn blue. People aren’t moving there to farm or hunt and fish. They’re moving to the suburbs.
Why should the California migration to Texas be any different than the California migration to, say, Colorado?
Like a dog to his vomit . . . .
Trading the climate and beaches of California for the politics and business savvy of Texas… only to get the climate and beaches of Texas with the politics and business savvy of California.
Maybe just stay put and pay your taxes, citizens.
Well, I just did that for Nashville and DC, and by that same logic Nashvillians are crushing DC and not the reverse. That’s not how U-Haul works, though, I think. A truck from San Francisco doesn’t have to be returned to San Francisco to be used again; it could just be that lots of people are leaving San Francisco or LA and, separately, lots of people are moving to Houston or Dallas.

We all know how important it is to save the country from Trump, and how much better our lives will be when we finally have another Democrat in the White House. What will you give the American people?
NBC announced on Tuesday the five moderators for the first Democratic presidential primary debate, set for later this month.
Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow and José Diaz-Balart will moderate the debate, which will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami over two nights on June 26-27.
I hope they share the debate questions equitably, this time.

How dare you. This is not the time for moderation.
I can’t wait to have a sanctimonious prick look down his nose at me and tell me to get used to less and how the new normal is a slow spiral into poverty. Life will be so much better then.

Tard Tuesday: I’m A Very Important Person
My division is also the most profitable in the business by miles.
Your business is failing.
>>a highly technical detail that was creating barriers to the successful delivery
maybe you should use clearer, less obtuse language.
It’s harder to make shit up that way.
I would ask for specifics. I would not be surprised to uncover that her idea of “highly technical” has nothing to do with highly or technical in any sens of the word that people dealing with technical would see as such, which is why she was not more specific. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised she is the HR department manager and considers that to grant her “in-depth knowledge of industry specific requirements” as well as being profitable…
I have had a few women recently tell me how they felt they were not appreciated despite all the work they do, when the work they do is not that difficult in the grand scheme of things to being with and they really have not done much other than bitch. Then again, I have had several guys do the same shit while working in areas that were neither that technical or key in the grand scheme of things. Maybe it is human nature to want to feel what you are doing is of such high value.
I’ve been in IT for a couple decades, with plenty of smart, capable women. I have seen zero evidence of the sort of thing that woman is going on about. Not one shred. It’s all in her head.
Ditto. The women I have seen complaining all worked in non-technical roles. In fact, they often complained about the women in technical roles making them look bad or not appreciating them.
Oh, I see you’ve met the mid level manager in my org who thinks she doesn’t need to know the job of the people doing the work in her group in order to be successful. She was a lateral hire into basically her current position from the street and hasn’t moved upward since. Teeth and tits.
You would not believe how many managers I have had to work with that felt knowing, let alone understanding the work being done by their drones was overrated. After all, I am often told, just take whatever numbers they tell you they need to complete a task and reduce it by 40% is the solution and the sign of a good manager. The looks I get when I point out people catch on quick and over inflate by 50% or more once they realize the whole thing is a game.
There is a reason I have avoided the management track despite pressure from everyone to go there and stayed purely technical. In my experience a good manager is a rare gem, and people should be ecstatic if they have one that is rated above low to mediocre in skills. I call them spreadsheet jockeys for a reason…
#metoo
I don’t enjoy dealing with bullshit.
Good managers do know what is going on in their departments and should have enough of a working understanding of the issues so that they don’t embarrass themselves talking to the people under them and so that they can explain to the next level of management in a way that they’d understand.
Just as bad are the managers who micro-manage everything. They are constantly in everyone’s shit down to the smallest detail.
You have to find the right balance so that you are informed, but let your people have the freedom to get things done.
But, but, but you get to use all the buzzwords from the sitcoms on TV when you are in management. That has to count for something
I am the Director of and run a division which requires an in-depth knowledge of industry specific requirements
Knowing which is the cream carafe and which the skim doesn’t make you director of coffee services, lady.
Welcome to reality, dipshit. The only sexist in the room is you. You think getting overruled or ignored or undermined doesn’t happen to men? Especially when you’re going about consensus. Go fuck yourself. Also, turning into a shrill harpy when there’s conflict further reinforces you’re a petty cunt.
Based on recommendations here, I’m halfway through Critical Conversations which this woman desperately needs to read. It sounds like she was giving a terrible presentation, lost the room, then spazzed out – confirming to everyone there that she’s in over her head.
If I actually believe that any of that is true, then she’s fulfilling the stereotype of irrational, emotional, hysterical female quite nicely.
Other women should smack some sense into her.
Did you mean Crucial Conversations?
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Conversations-Talking-Stakes-Second/dp/1469266822
Critical Conversations seems to be about nursing.
Oh yeah.
The Managing Director apologised.
Yeah. Not good. FIERCE WOMAN
My take is that she explained her technical point poorly and the way she explained it sounded impossible (which it still could have been, anyway). In a business setting, your colleagues and your boss have every right to ask for clarification of a proposal you’re pushing. You’re the top expert in the room? Yeah, that’s why they pay you.
My bet, this woman is going to find herself slowly slipped out of the role. Her subordinates will start getting invited to meetings. Questions will get directed to her team. Eventually, her division will get restructured so that she can specialize on her cutting edge work while the day-to-day aspects of running the commodity elements of her product get given to someone else.
She should start getting her resume together yesterday.
If she’s so mart, why can’t she communicate technical issues to non-experts? To me, being able to do that is a sign of true mastery of the technical material, and essential for senior leadership, which is often a collection of subject matter experts from different disciplines.
Because it’s all made up to fulfill some perverse need to be an internet forum Joan of Arc?
Correct – if you can’t explain it to a 6-year-old, you don’t understand it that well.
(and now I’m in an internet rathole about the providence of that quote)
In my IT job it is one the most difficult thing to do to give a general (high altitude) view to non-techy people. Making it easy to understand and also for them to truly understand the implications of creating X, Y, and Z can be well, troublesome.
I’m also reminded of the time that I took a flat sequenced part file from a customer, and, after several meetings and tests, managed to create shippers, barcodes, and a picklist from the data. The senior management team, who didn’t do any of the actual work, actually received awards for finding solutions to a difficult customer requirement. Me – the guy who did the actual programming, testing, and tech communication with the customer – wasn’t even invited to the awards banquet.
That sucks – I can sympathize.
I’m essentially an IT-plumber, which doesn’t lead to all that many public accolades. I’m extremely fortunate the people I actually report to know my work is all vast, subsurface movement. For everyone else, people don’t notice that things don’t break, just when they do.
Yeah it’s an old story in the IT world. We’re looked upon as the “geeks in the closet” – when there is an actual large amount of business and technical analysis going on in a project.
LOL. I’ve had that happen a lot in my career. Everyone wants to be the one who is waving the flag as they cross the finish line. No one wants to do the work.
For the most part, I usually created my own award of a week of vacation off the books.
“…literally fucking kidding me…”
“…what the actual fuck…”
Yeah, I am calling bullshit on that whole spiel. No one who uses language like that is the most competent person in the company. I think we are looking at a textbook Dunning-Kruger effect.
textbook Dunning-Kruger effect.
So you’ve met my daughter’s soon -to- be ex-husband?
Nothing says Patriarchy like failing to recognize that a woman can never be wrong.
Your own heavily biased description says to me that it did not happen that way. You were either spilling jargon or gibberish, and the confused audience was looking for clarity. Scolding them pretty much ensured your career is dead. The less cuntish approach would have been to take a step back and ask where the clarification was needed and elaborate in manager speak. Turning the cunt dial up to eleven was pretty much the stupidest thing you could have done and just tells me you don’t know how to talk to people.
Yeah, my gut tells me that she said two contradictory things in her presentation, or one of her assumptions was incorrect and the boss was asking his subordinates to confirm that the input was B and not A, so her reason for not being able to deliver needed to be re-assessed.
This is where she should have pulled the classic retreat of “I think that we have gotten a bit too deep into the weeds. Let’s table this for now and I’ll send out a summary with more details after this meeting.”
Look, I used ‘pro forma’ and ‘pro bono’ and ROI as the book said, what don’t you understand?
Why didn’t I get the memo about yelling Fuck in a professional setting being totes cool.
Here’s another tale for you: One of the biggest companies in America (quite possibly THE biggest in terms of influence) had a program specifically designed to fast-track women into leadership positions for the sake of “diversity”. When one man wrote a tame critique of the program (and even suggested better ways to get women into those jobs) he was summarily fired, after which the entire media smeared him as a vile, angry misogynist.
I think these anecdotes about “the patriarchy” are vastly overshadowed by the feminist politicking that has invaded almost every corporate boardroom in America.

Tard Tuesday: Lions and Tigers and Fascists Oh My!
JFC, the projection.
Next level progjection.
I trust the asshat who couldn’t even understand the actual point of 1984 to give me the head’s up about a totalitarian government in development.
That wild misintepretation of 1984 is truly one for the ages. It will, of course, be memory holed.
It’s hard to fathom that she conforms to the role of totalitarian so well.
I suppose that’s always been the case with Clinton. She’s not transparently reprehensible and corrupt that a large portion of people just can’t believe it.
She’s so transparently…
The crazy part is that I truly believe that nobody is a villain in their own story – what movie is playing in her head where her corruption and naked lust for power is justified and she’s the plucky heroine?
I figure she mentally cracked sometime in the mid-90’s.
She’s a narcissist. I think a lot of politicians are. Maybe you have to be to apply for the position.
Hillary Clinton warned during an alumnae event Saturday at Wellesley College that fascism is coming to America.
Evita del Norte would know best about trying to institute fascism. I guess she still have moments of clarity despite the brain worms.
Remember kids it’s not fascism when we do it.
Weren’t we just talking about drive-in theaters yesterday? Holy shit what they wouldn’t have given for this kind of projection. They could have built screens that could be seen for miles.
You’d need the Hubble Movie Screen orbiting in high Earth orbit for that much projection.
Smoothing out the moon would cost even more.
There is nothing normal about attacking the press.
Except for George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, ….
Uh, one of her campaign slogans, Stronger Together, literally evokes a fascis, which is the root word for Fascism.
What is John Dean’s deal?
What emotional need is he satisfying with this act?
I hope the other side of the aisle has the good sense to call in Mr. G. Gordon Liddy as a rebuttal witness.
Attention.
Clerk of Court should be a really boring administrative position but the progs have put forth a Dem operative running against the current Deputy Clerk. during the debate, the Deputy Clerk ignored the political Democrat questions and said that he would not run the office with political Democrat values. and for that he will lose the primary. he sort of shot himself in the foot but it was nice to hear. the prog Dem is going on and on about his party endorsements. this is the same fucker that had a mailer calling concealed-carry into scrutiny. VA’s a shall-issue state but i could see this a-hole forcing a confrontation with the state over home rule.
Truth to power!
More than 30 current and former administration officials, as well as other outside Trump advisers and high-ranking GOP officials, spoke with me for my book “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America,” set for release Tuesday. Other officials from the administration, most notably Trump and White House press secretary Sanders, did not respond to repeated requests for an interview.
Asked where the term “the enemy of the people” came from, three former and current senior White House officials pointed the finger at the conservative firebrand Steve Bannon, an ex-West Wing strategist himself, as having coined the villainous label. Yet, in an interview, Bannon said that’s not quite the case. The former Breitbart executive insisted he and Trump had conjured up the anti-press catchphrase together.
“I think it’s safe to say that we both came up with it in discussion,” Bannon said, making sure Trump received part of the credit.
———
Still, the original purpose of the expression was to taunt members of the press, not trigger threatening reactions from Trump supporters, the official said.
“It’s meant to incite the media. Not the people,” the official continued.
Without people like Jim Acosta, how would we know what to think about anything? Trump is a monster.
Jim Acosta has done more to discredit the corporate press than most propagandists. Well done, sir
Um… Who was it that originally applied that term to news coverage during the 2016 election??
Yesterday, I got the first “research” phone call of the 2020 election from an political poll operator.
I’m going to have to disconnect the phone until after the Iowa Caucuses next February.

Turn it the other way.
The crazy part is that I truly believe that nobody is a villain in their own story – what movie is playing in her head where her corruption and naked lust for power is justified and she’s the plucky heroine?
She’s the heroine, rescuing the plebs from disaster. She has always had that crazy delusional Joan of Arc light in her eye. I remember seeing it and commenting on it when Bill was running for President. I still think she wanted it more than he did.
Bill’s a grifter straight out of central casting; she either really buys into her own story or started to at some point.
Bill would have been happy being gov of Arkansas for another 4 terms and then being a big state party guy.
Hillary was the brains that got him to think big.
Hillary was the brains that got him to think big.
I don’t really believe this. Bill Clinton is a Rhodes Scholar. Hillary flunked the bar. Twice. And, keep in mind, the whole New Democrat thing was a lot more his doing than hers. Hell, if she’d followed his advice in 2016, she might well have won the election.
I think it’s more the shes’ the naked thirst for power that got him to think big.
Yeah, he’s plenty smart but she’s got the real lust for power. I think Jimbo has that part right.
Hillary was the over ambitious hag/nag – driven by the need to show others how accomplished she was through her man – that kept pushing him. Bill would have been content with any office where the flow of poo-tang was big enough for him to get his freak on.
I’m seeing the conversations now:
HRC: If you’re so fucking smart, why the fuck are we stuck in THIS backwater shithole, huh? I mean, it’s not even a significant player like Georgia or Florida. And while you at least get to be a Governor (and don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to at those conferences), I’m stuck in the middle of Little Rock dealing with fucking chicken farmers! And what the fuck kind of shitheels would name their capital Little Rock, anyway?
WJC: Alright! Alright! Just shut the fuck up and I’ll figure a way to get us to D.C.!
HRC: You fucking better! And no shitkicker job like Congressman or Secretary of the Interior, either! When I walk into the room I want people to fucking KNOW who the hell I am!
It’s like you were there.
*applause*
“We’re here because you kept flunking the DC bar exam, then got kicked the fuck off the Watergate investigation because you couldn’t kept your stupid bitch mouth shut.”
Maybe Bill’s strategy of dealing with her – sleeping with many other women – is healthier than mine would be.
“Say, Hill, how would you like to take a helicopter ride?”
You mean, like that, Drake?
Uffda. This is exactly what I was trying to say.
Also, she might not be book smart, but she is the one who learned where all the levers in the DNC were and how to use them.
Maybe cunning is a better word for her than smart.
Conniving is what she is. Some ambitious women know how to help make guys reach far higher than they would have on their own (we live in houses, drive nice cars, and in general work cause we want to get laid and to do so you need that shit), and some are just evil incarnate. Hillary is the later.
Maybe she was bored with her small-state capers like Whitewater and was looking to move up to major league corruption. If so, mission accomplished.
+1 nine-figure “foundation”.
I know that kind of woman. Date a few of them. It’s about status and being able to look down on others in the circles they frequent or wish to frequent.
She’s a narcissist. I think a lot of politicians are. Maybe you have to be to apply for the position.

I think that describes most of human history. Funny how people want to go backwards.
And if your coworkers object, sue the company for discrimination.
I usually wear the same pair of pants to work all week without washing them. I work in a climate controlled office. They aren’t getting dirty.
Same here, kind of. Work/dress shirts get worn once and then washed, work/dress pants go probably 3 or 4 wearings between trips to the dry cleaner. For one thing, they last longer. For another, dry cleaning is expensive. See how that whole price signal thing promotes efficiency?
Start going to work with no pants on at all.
If HR says anything just shriek at them about being climate deniers and rapers of Gaia.

“InfoWars Pays $15K to Settle ‘Pepe the Frog’ Copyright Lawsuit
There will be no “Pepe the Frog” trial after all.
On Monday, Matt Furie, the creator of the anthropomorphic character, announced that he had obtained $15,000 from InfoWars in a settlement that resolves a copyright lawsuit. The deal comes weeks after a federal judge partially rejected summary judgment motions, setting the stage for what would have been a closely watched — and rather unique — copyright trial.
Furie filed his lawsuit in March 2018 with the contention that InfoWars had ripped off his character for a “MAGA” poster featuring Pepe alongside InfoWars founder Alex Jones, President Donald Trump, Milo Yiannopoulos and others.
By the time of the lawsuit, Pepe had already become an online meme, taken from the character’s roots of being a peace-loving frog to a symbol of the alt-right. Through his legal action, Furie aimed to reclaim the character.”

Finally! Climate Change news that makes sense.
It makes as much sense as any other theory out there. I’m sure that with the right amount of scientific grant money, data could be found to fully prove a causal link between “tornaders”* and traffic circles.

A while back, I was musing about what to use to “rejuvenate” the old stale fuel in the tank of my 914.
I just found this
Here’s the basic recipe for SeaFoam, and considerably cheaper. All the componant ingredients are available with a visit to just a couple stores in town. Maybe Wally’s and a Sherwin Williams or even Lowes. You’ll be able to find the ingredients easily enough though
Found on the internet under ‘Homebrew SeaFoam recipe’, I’d site the author, but he/she seems to be FAR removed by now as this has probably made the forum rounds an alot of motorhead sites.
It’s very cheap and easy to make at home
25% Cleaner>Naphtha
60% Stabilizer>Kerosene
15% Oxygenate> Isopropyl Alcohol (common Rubbing Alcohol)
———
It’s not so much the point that it’s only 1/10 the Cost,,,
it’s that homemade blend allows for ,,,not just Enhancement but even Exaggeration of the Beneficial Properties of the Additive Mix.
For example :
Skip the Rubbing Alcohol, replace it with Acetone,,,Same Price.
Makes engine Start much better in Cold Weather,,,SOMETIMES improves fuel mileage,,,is Less Corrosive,,,and acts like a Cleaner Itself.
And,,it gets added in at much, much lower doses.
Or,,,add a $5 pint of Toluene in lieu of a quart of Kerosene
Or ,,1$ Quart of Auto Trans Fluid,to make Mega Stabilizer.
I’m not crazy. Not completely crazy, anyway.
More research shall be conducted.
15% Oxygenate> Isopropyl Alcohol (common Rubbing Alcohol)
Common rubbing alcohol has quite a bit of water. I’m not sure you can get any rubbing alcohol without some water in it. I think the purest I’ve seen is 95%.
You can get it from a lab supply company but you’re right about the store bought stuff.
https://www.fishersci.com/shop/products/isopropyl-alcohol-acs-grade-99-5-labchem-2/LC157501
The reason it runs $40+ for small quantities is the difficulty in separating isopopinol from water. 90% is still only a few dollars for a similar quantity. That remaining 10% is where the costs are.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azeotrope
wow, I couldn’t even look 3 comments down.
you can’t distill isopropyl to 100%, azetope something something.

Or would he insist on hanging up, calling the fire department direct and then starting the call with a tape recording of his original call to 911?
Not even the correct emergency number for that model.
Interesting. I’m a Sea Foam fan, but also cheap!
The cost/benefit just isn’t there. Fuck it up, and you’ve gone from saving a few bucks to spending a bunch of bucks to fix your engine. The fact that he refers to “common” rubbing alcohol as something you’d want to put into your engine gives me very little confidence. Sure, the ethanol in your gas means you also have water in your gas, but that’s a problem. Adding to a problem is rarely a good solution.

Nineteen Eighty-Four is divided into three parts, the second of which is structured around Winston Smith’s love affair with Julia, a co-worker at the Ministry of Truth. Their romance begins with Smith offering Julia the sort of smooth talk that would send any woman’s heart aflutter: “I’m thirty-nine years old. I’ve got a wife that I can’t get rid of. I’ve got varicose veins. I’ve got five false teeth.”
Moments later, he seals the deal by telling Julia that she’d always been in his thoughts. “I hated the first sight of you,” he tells her. “I wanted to rape you and then murder you afterwards. Two weeks ago, I thought seriously of smashing your head in with a cobblestone.” Naturally, Julia is seduced. Several pages later, Winston “pressed her down upon the grass, among the fallen bluebells.” It is a symptom of George Orwell’s genius that, taken in context, this sequence makes perfect sense.
In his life, Orwell seems to have been somewhat mortified by the sex act. And one can almost see him squirming slightly as he wrote this scene out during the late 1940s, when he was holed up on the Scottish island of Jura, already suffering from the lung disease that would kill him shortly after the book’s publication. Yet prig that he was, Orwell understood the human sex instinct quite well. He knew that the fantasies we act out among the bluebells often emerge from life’s jealousies and agonies. For Smith and Julia, sex is an escape from the loneliness they suffer in a world of lies. So even the most grotesque truths serve as aphrodisiacs.”

“taken in context” Um, no it isn’t. The context would include the anti-sex league and how the state tries to focus the visceral into love of Big Brother, thus perverting the sex drive, much as some religions do.
Common rubbing alcohol has quite a bit of water. I’m not sure you can get any rubbing alcohol without some water in it.
There’s plenty of water in the fuel already, thanks to ethanol’s excellent water-absorbing properties.
Yay, our cars run on water now, right?

PUA techniques really work!
I’ve been giving you ungrateful motherfuckers pick-up lines for years.
Tip to everyone: “wannafud?” doesn’t work.
Well, maybe not _yet_. Keep trying.
I see your problem. ‘Wannafud’ should never be as a question. It’s ‘Wannafud!!!”
Too much enthusiasm. “Wannafud.” They shouldn’t even know it was a question until after you get them back to your camper van.
Show us your gruesome dribbling pustules, baby.
I laughed / gagged.
You know she’s really aroused when she starts suppurating.
Gruesome dribbling pustules are how you suppurate the men from the boys, amirite?
Death threats = ultimate neg.
Uffda. I knew Julia story was pretty obnoxious, but I never thought of raping and killing her. Maybe she was right to appeal to Big Daddy Government.
When I would call Obama a commie I almost always got a response of “Whaaaa? Huuuuh? Whadyamean? Oh, you are too cynical. You exaggerate too much.”
Me: “Oh yeah? Life of Julia Mofo.”
Stoopid Mofo: “Whaaaaaaa? Huuuh? Who?”
Oh, so the same faux-incredulity that they throw out when you mention the possibility of gun confiscation? “Whaaa?? Take your guns away? Who ever said that? Nobody wants to take your guns away!!”
… Five minutes after they were just gushing about how wonderful it was that other countries “took action” (e.g. confiscated guns) after mass shootings and lamented that people in the US do not want the same thing.
The fact that he refers to “common” rubbing alcohol as something you’d want to put into your engine gives me very little confidence.
Probably true. “Heet” proprietary additive (methanol) would be the way to go, if you felt an alcohol fuel dryer were called for. I would not use rubbing alcohol.
In the context of the guy’s post, however, I think he’s referring to use as a fuel conditioner or engine and fuel system cleaner to be used immediately, not for long term storage.
In my case, I’m looking for something to replace lost volatility and bump the energy content up. I’m not planning to carry a jug of toluene around with me to dump some in every time I fill up.

Duh. That’s why you rig up a bottle next to the parking brake.
The bottle is for NoS – it’s like you’ve never even seen the Fast and Furious.
I haven’t, but the nitrous bottle turboboost goes pretty far back in Movie History so there’s plenty other examples that form the basis of my knowledge of automotive mechanics, tyvm.
The toluene bottle goes between the nitrous tank and the brake lever.
