My kid is home sick and bored. If I have to listen to one more episode of Rescuebots (an animated Transformers spinoff aimed at little kids), I’m probably going to lose my mind. There’s only one season, about 20 episodes, and in the last three or four weeks, we have played them all about 5 times. Even the occasional appearance of Optimus Prime can’t rescue it after this many casual viewings/listenings.
They may call these “cat-foxes”, but they just look like regular kitties to me.
Boeing 737-Max fix requires enough grip strength to open pickle jars. Pilots outraged they have to be as strong as the cabin crew.
And so the Battle for America’s Wang begins.

Thank you so much. I was planning on not going back to iambic pentameter, but the departure of Pie was too tempting.
It really was fantastic. I am so tempted to send such works of art to normie friends, but I don’t know if they’d pick up on “Duke of Trans Amia,” and I KNOW they wouldn’t understand Pie.
Does anyone really understand Pie?
The ratio of the radius and circumference of a circle seems pretty straight forward to me.
You’d think that, but transcendental numbers are pretty fucked. And fundamental.

Sen. Cory Booker said in a panel that the U.S. needs to address “persistent inequalities” experienced by African Americans by discussing reparations, the idea that the descendants of slaves should be compensated for the injustices and cruelty their ancestors experienced.
Booker said that the nation has “yet to truly acknowledge and grapple with the racism and white supremacy that tainted this country’s founding and continues to cause persistent and deep racial disparities and inequality. These disparities don’t just harm black communities, they harm all communities.”
Go fuck yourself.
These disparities don’t just harm black communities, they harm all communities.”
So why should blacks get the payoff?
RAAAAAAACIST!!!!!!!!!!!
I fully support reparations – anyone who is or was a slave can sue their owner and only their owner for the loss and imprisonment.
I still want someone to positively address whether people like George Takei owes Sheila Jackson Lee any reparations with a detailed explanation of why or why not.
Is Danny Glover expecting some cash too?
This is a shakedown. I hope people realize and understand this, right?
No. This is a blatant attempt to boost black voter turnout.
Why not the both?
I guess we know where CBS stands.
Couldn’t you say the same thing about every single congressman in history when a member of the opposite party held the white house? They worked to make them one term presidents and oppose legislation sponsored by the President
Yes, but he went against The One. The man who was going to Heal us and make our Troubles go away.
Hell, Trump is pretty unique in that he has had every single member of the opposing party, and many members of his own party, working to make him a one-term President.
No one likes to show up for a domestic dispute. First the Dems gotta sort out is which of the multitude they think can make Trump a one termer. They must be careful what they wish for, lest they remake him into a two termer.
The pickins look mighty slim right now but of course it will get sorted out somehow.
Wait, wasn’t this the justification for affirmative action (another government allowed and promoted racist program, just like Jim Crow) forty years ago?
Yes, as was arguably the entire Great Society colossus.
I recall the assumption was that desegregation, affirmative action and the welfare state would resolve all of America’s racial ills.
Rand Paul should propose a bill that everyone descended from slaves should get a payout and everyone descended from slave owners should have to pay in.
I wonder how long it would take the Democrats to figure it out?
They already have a standard response to that: slavery benefited all whites, including any who didn’t own slaves or arrived after it was banned.
Including the Whites who were slaves?
They want to revive the one-drop rule, but apply it differently.
How small a drop? I’m .6 percent Nigerian. I want my 40 & a mule!

My people are listed in the Domesday Book as slaves, what do I get?
A return to the manse of the lord who owned your line to work the fields?
Well, the manse is long gone… but the fields are still there.
Some enterprising Republican should propose a bill that abolishes any organization which owned slaves or materially assisted the preservation of slavery (e.g. by running the CSA).
You’re a African-American fucking US Senator worth $1.3 Million. Go fuck a bag of broken glass.
He’s a clown running for President.
No reason to be redundant.
I would almost be for reparations for the descendants of slaves just to hear the howls from the Somalis, Liberians and other African refugees we have here in Minnesoda.
No way the Somalis would let that shit go.
And after the reparations are paid, there will be racial harmony and we’ll never hear about slavery again, right?
And we can drop all affirmative action, racial preferences, and similar nonsense? In fact, make it illegal for government, schools, and employers to collect race data? If so, I vote yes.
And all those extra $$$ we throw at education to close the race gap are also no longer needed.
no stealing my jokes !
the idea that the descendants of slaves should be compensated
No cash for Obama? Sad!
But what does the Cat Fox say?
AFP reports that a number of the felines have been captured in the northern part of the Mediterranean island by officials from France’s National Hunting and Wildlife Office (ONCFS).
Known as “chat-renard” (cat-fox) in French and “Ghjattu volpe” in the Corsican language, the animals have long been part of local legend. Not surprisingly, the felines are generating plenty of buzz.
Wildlife rangers showed AFP a “cat-fox” that had been captured in Corsica’s Asco Forest. Measuring about 35 inches from head to tail, the animal has “very wide” ears, “highly developed” canines and short whiskers, according to officials. The animal also has a thick coat, stripes on its front legs and dark hind legs.
Looks normal, but there is always room for more pussy.
*browses over links*
Dammit.
And I meant to italicize “Cat”. I’ll see myself out.
Measuring about 35 inches from head to tail,
That’s a good-sized bobcat, although bobcats have short tails.
There are lots of indigenous cats that size worldwide, and many follow the basic stripey pattern.
RE: Cat-fox.
Do you need to be a pussy connoisseur to tell the difference?
I’ll bet this is a dumpster fire.
Well I beat you to this one, but in the last thread.

RE: Boeing’s Pinto.
WTF went wrong with this plane? The 737 original flavor is a totally reliable workhorse; wasn’t the 737 MAX just supposed to be a modification of it? How did they fuck it up so bad?
The enemy of good is better.
Not enough clearance under the wings for bigger engines, so they had to move the engines forward. That damaged the innate gliding abilities: the plane stalls if its nose is not constantly pushed down.
right; I might put it this way: the new engine geometry creates a lot of moment (rotating thrust) that could lead to stall
IIRC, the sensor (one!) Boeing relied on for angle-of-attack data can be fowled or even knocked off which would let the sub-routines cycle to crazy town; the Max has two sensors, but somehow the redundancy was not utilized as a check
I don’t know how aviation engineers around system changes like this, but this is an easy catch in whatever their version of failure-mode-effects-analysis is: what happens if the sensor is a/missing b/dead c/wrong: severity, likelihood, detectability; it’s hard to imagine that any rational scoring of the risk would not require correction/modification/redundancy/algorithm escape
fowled or even knocked off
meant: fouled or fowled
I apologize for missing such an obvious opportunity for whimsy
Like, if the plane gets hit by a bird?
In a previous life, that was one of my jobs: shooting chickens at airplanes.
Not fun cleaning up chicken puree in 100 degree Kansas sun.
Did you remember to thaw them first?
the rooster booster? you’re not going to take credit for that handsome machine name ?!1!
fouled or fowled
right: full of snot or knocked off by a loon
That damaged the innate gliding abilities: the plane stalls if its nose is not constantly pushed down.
The new placement of the engines combined with the higher power of the engines created a rotational moment when you throttle the plane up. Much like how a muscle car rotates on the rear axle when you gun it. Obviously a plane is much more sensitive to pitching up than a car. A pilot could theoretically compensate for the pitch up, but it takes a substantial amount of yoke pressure, and that’s where MCAS comes in. It adjusts the trim tab on the elevator to counterbalance the pitch up moment from the engines without requiring pressure on the yoke. MCAS uses little vanes on the nose of the plane to determine how much to adjust down. At 600mph cruising speed, those vanes are pretty much forced into the right orientation by aerodynamic pressure. At 200mph takeoff speeds, they’re more likely to stick and give a bad reading. I forget whether those sensors are doubly or triply redundant, but bad things happen when they both stick high.
An added complication is that airlines have modified takeoff procedure to pull the flaps in earlier in the process. MCAS is disabled when flaps are extended.
Too many cooks in the kitchen, probably.
They uncovered a latent issue with the plane that wasn’t a problem in the takeoff cycles of the other models. MCAS malfunction, in and of itself, shouldn’t put a plane into the ground. MCAS malfunction with a runaway trim stab (the latent issue) at low altitude puts planes into the ground.
My prior bloviating on the topic.
Often a “minor” modification can have major unintended consequences. More efficient engines of larger diameter changed the center of thrust which was fixed with a software solution. I’m guessing that the engineering was nor reviewed as a major mod would have been.
Often a “minor” modification can have major
unintendedunforeseen consequences. If you know about a consequence, and go forward anyway, you intend that consequence (along with the other consequences that you actually desire).
WTF went wrong with this plane?
Well, , and that’s all I have to say on the matter.
Fucked that up, but it works better than the original joke I guess.

Fun Fact: from the 1930s to the 1960s the Democrats were the party of both segregationists and blacks. Free shit will cover a lot of cracks.
And places like Atlanta the Democrats shifted from the party of whites to the party of blacks without losing power.
I when I look at events during that era, it is truly amazing that they weren’t called out on their duplicity. They could pander to anyone with a straight face. These days they pander to Muslims and Feminists without seeming to notice their polar opposite beliefs and lifestyles.

MamaFreethinker posted, “At the bachelorette party the previous weekend, the bride-to-be became so drunk that she leaned on a hot BBQ grill in nothing but swimsuit bottoms which melted and continued to burn her after she realized her mistake. So she had a 3rd degree burn on her ass.” Also known as “full thickness” burns, this is one of the most serious types of these injuries. They can take a very long time to heal, but the bride wasn’t going to let this stop her from having a good time at her wedding.
“Fast forward to the wedding reception,” the post continues. “The bride becomes phenomenally intoxicated once again. Every 10 minutes or so she runs into a guest and feels the need to retell the story, complete with lifting her dress to show off the wound. It got so bad that her new father-in-law figures out that keeping a drink in her hand at all times was the key to keeping the skirt down because lifting it up required both hands. She got even drunker.”
Apparently, combining a serious burn with copious amounts of alcohol wasn’t a great idea. Adding to the bride’s issues was the fact that the wedding had a cash bar. This caused people to run out of cash, leaving them unable to make donations to the honeymoon jar, further upsetting the bride, which apparently led to her drinking more.
The story concludes, “The last I saw her (the bride) that night was while passing by her room to my own. She was completely passed out on the bed, and her bridesmaids were unbuttoning the 100+ buttons along the back of her dress so they could all go to sleep.”
So the bride was a hot piece of ass?
*golf clap*
…sounds like the blushing bride has a drinking problem in addition to not being too bright.

learn not to burn: synthetics and leather will shrinky-dink you
In flammable chemistry areas, we wear cotton: it falls off instead of clinging like napalm
Also, no wool: tends to build up static; your dissipation shoes should fix that, but, in the only fire death at any company I’ve been associated with, it didn’t work for the guy on top of a railcar full of MMA
For High Voltage arc-flash gear they will allow wool. Must be a natural fiber or Nomex.
I might be misunderstanding you.
I’m recommending against wool in Class 1, Division 1 areas. Arc flash applies to a lot of areas, some of which might have flammable vapors regularly present; for general arc flash work, wool is fine if no vapors and no other risks are present. But if the vapors are present, wool is a bad call.
I’ve never encountered vapors, or flyings in an area requiring arc flash gear, just pointing out it is “legal” for FR in some circumstances.
Wow! I wanna party with that chick! WOOOOOOO!
Could one of the M.D. glibs clarify: wouldn’t having full-thickness burns into your glutes result it being impossible to walk, walk without hemorrhaging, and/or fit into a wedding dress?

How does it close the “racial income inequality gap” if it goes to all children?
Everyone gets equally ripped-off with that deal?
Because they’re Indian givers.
The average child under 12 has zero income. Giving all children $1000/year gives all children regardless of race the same income.
Of course it gives the ones who go one to lead productive lives a higher tax burden.
I think if you’re family is rich, the first $1k is it. If they are poor, you keep getting money added each year.
Of course with everything going into treasury bonds, the spread after 18 years won’t necessarily be that dramatic.

No. Not even close. To advance science and technology, a university should hire the smartest and most qualified people.

I finally worked this spring for a place where there were significant numbers of women in actual engineering roles: design, layout, and sizing of equipment that required knowledge of how to assess and manipulate material attributes and shapes.
They were largely miserable in a way that men of similar experience with similar assignments in the same shop were not. I couldn’t figure out despite my excitement at seeing this special situation up close for the first time.
In related news, the chick that was foisted upon me at the previous job called for a reference. In a year, I never saw her complete the first engineering assignment; it was just easier to ignore until I quit for a host of other reasons. doG, I hope no one actually calls about her.

Hey, what if we throwe some money at it?
Sen. Kamala Harris has a new plan to help unemployed and underemployed workers obtain the job training they need: give them the money to do so.
For a segment of workers, one of the barriers to finding a new role is lacking the qualifications a position may require, coupled with the prohibitively high cost of obtaining such experience. While the idea of a so-called “skills gap” has been largely disproven, there are still job openings in fields like health care, information technology, and manufacturing that require specialized expertise, and little support from employers to get it.
Harris’s new bill, the 21st Century SKILLS Act, which she’s introducing Wednesday, tries to tackle this problem by giving workers up to $8,000 to pay for training and any additional costs that might accompany that commitment, such as transportation and child care. According to Harris’s office, these resources, which would mark a major federal investment, could benefit as many as 78 million people who don’t have a job or are working in roles that don’t fully utilize their skills.
———
Harris’s bill, which calls for an increase to the Labor Department budget, would target a changing jobs market, one of the issues that were central to the 2016 election, when President Donald Trump exploited worker fears about jobs that have been lost to automation or transplanted overseas. It’s currently got the backing of the National Skills Coalition, the Service Employees International Union, and the NAACP but would also need the support of a Republican Senate in order to get enacted.
The accessible nature of Harris’s plan, which is open to any worker who qualifies, has the potential to give an important boost to some of the country’s most vulnerable workers. Nailing the specifics of its ultimate implementation, however, will be crucial to ensuring it avoids the pitfalls that other training efforts have experienced.
Oh, Vox, you’re so cute.
“The idea of a so-called skills gap has been largely disproven,” you say?
One of my former employers, an O&G construction and engineering company is paying people $16/hr to go to skills training. No strings attached. If you graduate you get a job making a minimum of $20/hr with them. Or you can go down the street to the next guy. As I understand it there’s no requirement to work for them when you finish. Why do the Feds need to be involved? This company needs pipefitters, equipment operators, electrician helpers, and carpenters so badly they’re paying a decent wage for training. Its like the market will find a way…
https://billypenn.com/2018/08/28/get-employed-12-free-or-affordable-job-training-programs-in-philly/
I call bullshit on her plan.
Let’s compromise. The feds can waste hundreds of millions of dollars setting up portals to aggregate all the job training opportunities that private employers offer.
Can they learn to code for that much?
Sure, why not another program?

“About 3:30.”
“There’s pretty good evidence that employers are not looking to hire people and train them anymore. They’re looking for people who already have the skills to do the job,” Peter Cappelli, the director of Wharton’s Center for Human Resources, tells Vox.
According to a Bloomberg report, US census data shows that 19 percent of workers received employer-based training in 1996, compared to 11 percent in 2008. Since then, some measures, like annual training expenditures, suggest that business investment has seen an uptick, though these gains remain uncertain. For older workers especially, a changing job market has meant that bouts of unemployment have become more challenging to overcome without the background needed to transition to a new role.
And even as certain industries, including manufacturing, construction, health care, and technology, struggle to fill numerous positions, millions of workers are still searching for employment.
Wait- I thought you said the skills gap is a myth.
Also- maybe companies should take some of the money they currently piss away on stuff like “diversity” and “sensitivity training” and spent it on training their workforce in productive, value-enhancing skills.
The $8,000 figure has been determined in conjunction with job training experts, according to a Harris spokesperson. While it’s not enough to cover all potential training programs people might be interested in, any added financial support is significant, experts say.
You don’t say.
Can I have $8000? I want $8000.
Sure. Just start a job training program and rake it in.
*Starts plannning web-based Learn-to-Code certificate program*
What do I charge – how’s $8,000 sound?
Probably not that far off, honestly.
One of the “coding boot camps” I was looking at was $4,000, but then I decided to just use the free resources (Codecademy, KhanAcademy, W3Schools, asking my brother with a computer science degree, etc.) and pay for something later if I think I need some structured tutelage (but probably not the $4,000 one; most of them were cheaper than that).
For instance, it will only cover a fraction of the cost of a gender studies training program.
Fuck it, I’ll take eight grand to study to become a professional violinist, or a French translator, or a gourmet chef. I mean, never mind that I can’t get a job in any of those fields and will continue working in my current field. Give me eight grand now please.
Thanks to some glibs (Nephilium and Bob Boberson), I’m enjoying Cold Trail Ale. It’s good.

“I just want to know what that family has on Optimus Prime that they can get 4 aliens to work shit jobs on a tiny island.”

according to a new poll, an alarming amount of folks are ditching their deodorant altogether. The poll found that about 40% of people 18-24 don’t use deodorant at all and haven’t in the last month.
For their slightly older peers 25-34, the results aren’t much better. A whopping 31% of those polled said they also don’t use deodorant
Damn, even Bernie thinks you need at least one deodorant.
I am shocked.
They are wrong.
And Axe body spray isn’t a substitute.
I bet they don’t even know who this guy is.

Uffda. Minnesoda sent 8 teachers from the Wellstone International High School to Somaliland to look at the methods that make the Abaarso School of Science and Technology so successful.
The article goes to great lengths to talk about how many students from this high school in Somalia go on to colleges all over the world and the ways it operates. I could have saved everyone a lot of trouble:
I don’t think it takes a rocket surgeon to figure out that if I can get the smartest 50 kids for my classes out of a couple thousand (combined with the fact that there really aren’t any other schools) I should have a pretty kick ass school body when it comes test time.
Meanwhile, the mayor of my American city is try to kill admissions exams to selective schools.
American? I thought it was Dutch.
Yes, but admitting that would admit that students are partially responsible for their education, and that would open up a whole can of worms that many people would prefer stayed shut.
Admitting that involved parents and motivated students are far more important than per pupil spending is complete heresy.
Sounds racist to me.
handy global reading vs spending chart
It looks like the US gets about the same score as Poland, while spending almost 3x as much.
While that may be true few Poles can hardly read English while Americans, some at least, can

Hughes has a lot of courage speaking on this issue even though he will be pilloried as an “Uncle Tom.”
Maybe he might want to reconsider his “I always vote for Democrats” stance. I mean, why join a group that hates you?
That does take courage, especially given how hostile that audience was:
If only, IF ONLY we had ways of creating wealth and improving schools and safety while reducing dependence on government.
Such an enigma can never be solved.
Exactly. The big government policies of inner city areas like Detroit, Chicago, and Baltimore should be a signal that the government doesn’t give a fuck about black people. They just want more power and they’ll pander to whoever they have to in order to get it.
“Fuck that. How can we continue to gain power and make money from quilting white folks?”
Yeah I don’t think I’d have the moral courage to do that. Fuck congress for even floating something this divisive.

Well how about that?
“Uppity”.

Why don’t you just call him an uppity black next time, Steve?

Wow….I’m suddenly having some second thoughts about Biden, now that I’ve learned how seriously he takes the menace of raves.
The problem with Biden is he’s been on the wrong side of pretty much every issue since the dawn of time.
Except this one. Dude’s on point here.
You don’t like getting housed on mdma and getting busy with dirty barefoot hippy chicks? And you call yourself a libertarian? I never had you pegged for a David French conservative.

I don’t know why so many people need to rationalize jacking off to hentai by putting obstacles in front of one’s self.
Maybe so it’s not over so fast?
It’s worse than that… this one wasn’t even porn.
that’s so much worse.
There are two types of VNs: That Dragon Cancer and porn.
There’s stuff like DDLC, which I like. Not sure it officially qualifies as a VN though.
I didn’t even know what a VN was till about eight minutes ago. Now I feel cultured.

IMHO, anime made from VNs are almost always disappointing.
I now won’t watch them until after the series is done and I’ve read the reviews.
3 of my favorite anime of all time (Air, Kanon (2006) and Clannad/After Story) are from VNs.
I watched one version of Clannad. A long time ago before I studied Japanese. I’m middling on it, but didn’t hate it.

trucking predicts recession
“We have become increasingly convinced that freight is likely to remain weak through 2019 followed by falling truckload and intermodal contract rates in 2020,” the UBS analyst Thomas Wadewitz wrote to investors in a June 18 note.
Earlier this week I pointed to housing starts which show plenty of head room historically. Usually, housing starts and trucking rates run together and lead manufacturing activity by about a year. So, someone is wrong or something has come uncoupled (because of some huge and variable input, like imports for example). We’ll see. I’m not running to cash yet.
It could be that the recent (sometime in the past few years) regulations on trucking has had an effect of diverting more shipping through other means.
good guess, but I just don’t know where it would go
IIRC, OTR trucking is about 1.5 trillion ton-miles in the US, so not even a third of freight to begin with. Rail is even more and maybe at an all-time high by volume?
I think the better answer is that a ton-mile just isn’t worth much: a high-school drop-out can crank out 4 million of them annually with a small loan.
Being almost completely ignorant on the subject…how much crossover is there between rail and truck?
It’s very fluid as delivered value drops; IOW: cheap commodities (eg: steel) can go either way. Expensive stuff is about minimizing inventory (hurdle rate for working capital) and floor space (fixed capital = warehouse space), so it almost never goes by rail any more.
Of course, handling expense per pound and exposure (van vs flatbed vs rain) and such move the needle.
Nah, the drop in truck freight orders is too precipitous for that. Something is afoot.
Housing is very uncoupled from the broader economy now as it still hasn’t recovered from 2008
Housing is very uncoupled
Maybe we’re mean different things? I’d say that 2008 reset housing to a more meaningful relationship. Just peeking, housing starts since 2008 and GDP seem to correlate quite nicely, not that that would prove me right
I confess that I haven’t had any forecasting responsibility since 2010 (due to 2008!), so all the slopes and R-squares in the front of my brain aren’t up to date.
I prefer to look at commercial starts. Retail is way off its high, but that’s not unexpected. General commercial hasn’t started turning down yet which is a good sign for the immediate future.
I haven’t looked at ocean freight lately, but that’s usually a very good leading indicator.
still hasn’t recovered from 2008
Errr, my understanding is that the next bubble is inflating as we speak. I thought housing prices recovered by late 2015.
but, but, you still can’t get a three million dollar interest only loan with no assets, no income and no documentation!
we’re talking starts, not price per square foot
Housing starts are handy because the permit you pull today means new washer-dryer sets within the year. The link between price and starts is a whole nuther animal I leave to folk with those interests; I only care about housing at all based on it’s predictive value of GDP and therefore shipping and manufacturing, things in my world.
Ah, gotcha. That’s what I get for not reading the entire convo
I could have written that more gracefully. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt on tone.

Of course in Libertopia we’d all be in danger. Although technically the NEC and UL are private…
It doesn’t prove anything, but in 30 years I don’t think I’ve knowingly corner-cut a code that had been adopted as law. Most of them are there for good reason, were written by industry experts, and are handy reminders of what to do and what can go wrong. But I’m not a big construction guy, probably built less than $10M in improvements ever (I’m more tooling and process guy well into nine figures on that side of the game), so others may have suffered more than I would have.
Well, for example my detached garage has exposed horizontal runs of Romex. I know not to hang clothing or crap from them. But the exposed horizontal runs are not code.
Funny enough the electrician was the one who ran most of them although I did a few. He did wink at me when he said “now you’re going to drywall these”. When I sell I’throw some pegboard over the horizontal runs.

What if the reparations thing is the government requiring DNA tests for eligibility and starting a huge database of it’s citizen’s DNA?
?
That ship has sailed with genealogical DNA analysis and the permissiveness of the ancestry sites to government inquiry.
I get that. Though this would dramatically expand the amount of people volunteering their information.
Yeah, how the hell else are you going prove you qualify?
But I’m more inclined to agree with someone above that it’s transparent pandering for votes. There is never going to be any actual “reparations”.
Well, there’s really only one objective way to prove whether or not you’re a minority.

“Alabama man denies feeding meth to ‘attack squirrel’
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man wanted on drug and weapons charges has posted a video denying he fed methamphetamine to a so-called “attack squirrel” that he considers a pet.
Mickey Paulk posted the video on his Facebook page Tuesday night as authorities continued searching for him. It shows him stroking a rodent that he indicates was the same one seized during a search and then released by authorities.
Paulk told The Associated Press that a friend gave him the animal shortly after it was born, and he named it “Deeznutz.”
Police said they were warned about a meth-fueled, trained attack squirrel before conducting a drug search at a rural home near Athens, Alabama, on Monday. One man was arrested at the home and police said they released the caged squirrel.
Deputies released the squirrel in trees near the home, Young said, but there was no way to say whether the squirrel shown in the video is the same one released by officers after the raid.
“We don’t know if he might even have two squirrels,” he said. “It would just be speculation.”
Speaking in a phone interview with AP, Paulk said Wednesday that he was working with an attorney and relatives on a plan for turning himself in to authorities. Paulk said he had “a few loose ends to tie up” before surrendering, including getting the squirrel to a temporary home in Tennessee.
Paulk said he didn’t know why authorities believed the squirrel was on drugs unless someone saw it acting excitedly and told police “maybe he’s on meth or something.””
