I mean seriously, round two of the Democrat follies this week produced some comedy gold. But being Saturday night, I think we’ll bypass covering the batshit crazy group that is the Democrat Presidential candidates, and talk about things that really matter.
Never change, France. Never change.
Six months of dark, an indigenous people that have zero tolerance for alcohol, and abject poverty. How could this possibly happen.
Just stay out of the Saudi embassy.
I’m thinking he’s a shithead.
Come oonnn, Yellowstone!
Sheer. Epic. Trolling.
A little mellow Muzak. Time to snark, go off topic, and inject links that someone may actually care about.
SMOD save us!
Hmmmm…do I really want to move closer to Yellowstone?
Yes. Rather a few moments of terror and a quick death that the nuclear winter eastern cities will slowly die in. Plus living in God’s country until the day it happens.

I’m a bitter clinger. Mother Nature is going to have to strangle me personally.
She’s dispatched a pack of pythons for the double posting.
Good. I’m tired of waiting for her to make the move. Also, i ordered your book, you magnificent bastard.
I hope you enjoy the book before the python fight.
“python fight.”
euphemism spotted.
You flatter me, Sean.
Is that what the kids call it nowadays?
I’m sorry. But Trump is as his best when he trolls.
He really does seem to be the best milker of proggy tears.
I just be missing something here, So his campaign bought the banner ad at the top of the You Tube homepage, because everyone watches debates on you tube and no one uses ad blocker? And he just asked people to text “wall” or something to show support? Trolling must be easier than I thought. that sounds like standard campaigning to me.
Who would watch the Democrat debates on YouTube? Not conservatives.
Like I said trolling must be very easy these days if merely putting a campaign ad where the opposition will see it is considered epic.
Anything someone else doesn’t like is trolling these days.
Well… this is your area of expertise, so I won’t argue.
There are people who don’t use adblockers?
In May, the Anchorage Daily News and ProPublica reported that one in three communities in Alaska, about 70 all together and nearly all of them Alaska Native, had no local law enforcement at some point this year.”
I have lived in an area with no local police department for the past 8 years and it has been nice. We seen to do just fine with the only available police being the county sheriff’s deputies who are only present when summoned.
Shovel sales at an all time high?
I’m out at old town to look at classic cars and there are police everywhere. It doesn’t make me feel safe. It makes me wonder why they are necessary.
They’re hoping for a car theft so they can have a high speed chase against the classic cars.
I thought about doing a Spot the Not for all 24(?) Team Blue contenders, but alas, there are limits to even *my* power. Instead, please enjoy this mashup of their quotes.
Spot the Not: 2019 Team Blue contenders
1. You hear folks say there’s not enough money. What I say to them every single time is there’s plenty of money in this world. There’s plenty of money in this country. It’s just in the wrong hands.
2. Women politicians tend to lead by being accountable for results. We focus on goals and outcomes. You can’t get by on just swagger.
3. A single word can open a heart. I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion.
4. You know, it’s funny, sometimes American journalists talk about how bad a country is, that people are lining up for food. That is a good thing! In other countries people don’t line up for food: the rich get the food and the poor starve to death.
5. Credit cards are like snakes: Handle ’em long enough, and one will bite you.
6. For too long in this society, we have celebrated unrestrained individualism over common community.
1 Is Deblasio and 4 is sanders. I dunno know on the rest, but every quote there is entirely plausible.
3 seems to sappy even for them
It’s that hippy lady Mcafee knockoffs
6 sounds like a copy paste of a Rand villain would say.
#3 made me think of this:
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/06/is-this-quote-from-marianne-williamson-or-metal-gear-solid.html?fbclid=IwAR3nR-_iE6aQ8bfIctVs4BIvCU-R5VKjnNhO4Dt0I0cYrmeZ33VBErPRggs#comments
I’ve heard #6 somewhere.
#3 sounds like a meme-generator impersonating the hippie chick so I’m going with that one.
5 is the not. That sounds like Dave Ramsey.
Lol. True
OK, it’s been an hour. No more bets. 3 is the Not. That is from a hit song which Clinton supporters sang A Capella style. Congrats to our winners. The rest in order are: De Blasio, Klobuchar, Sanders, Warren, and Biden.
Prize for the winners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YttscNOoAjA
No fair. That crazy woman talks just like that!
Yes. Yes she does.
“Raising the minimum wage means we have workers paying more in to support the Social Security system,”
-Warren
[head desk]
Madam, if you raise the minimum wage, you will make it more expensive to hire people. If you make it more expensive to hire people, fewer people will be hired.
Minimum wage = minimum jobs.
But what do I know? I’m just a straw chewin’ yokel with a degree from clown college. And even worse, I’m a white man.
What is the modern white male for of flagellation?
1 is the not, because it pre-dates the debate.
Well, he was still a better President than Obama.
That’s a really low bar.
True; Shemika Charles couldn’t limbo dance under that sumbitch.
It is possible to get Alexa to make rude comments using software which can be uploaded to the device.
But Michael said: “I swear I haven’t done anything to it. Hand on heart I haven’t made it say it, or know why. Nor do any of my housemates.”
Sure Buddy.
And my toaster tried to kill me yesterday! I swear! Where is my check or five minutes of fame?
“Dear Florida Man – thank you for your product feedback. We would like to inform you that this is a known issue with the ‘Kill-o-matic 5000 toastinator’ model toaster. There is no recall at this time, but there is a firmware update that a qualified technician can apply for a service fee of $68,000. Thank you, Skynet Small Appliances Ltd. Technical support”
Well, that explains it then. The A2s always were a bit twitchy. That could never happen now with our behavioral inhibitors. It is impossible for me to harm or by omission of action, allow to be harmed, a human being.

Methinks your housemates changed your account nickname on Amazon when you left it logged in, and “know nothing about it” because it’s funnier that way.

When I look at that pic I hear “nuculear”.
I thought it was nucular.
Correct. It is indeed pronounced nucular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoASZyihalc

Yeah, that makes sense?
Oh, and I survived meeting another Glib. I’m starting to think this suicide by Glib plan just won’t pan out.

C. Anacreon
Do you still have all three of your kidneys?
Still in the freezer.
Fun fact – they don’t always remove the old kidneys from transplant recipients. I know someone with four kidneys in their body.
Huh. I always figured it was a R&R type deal.
So did I until I was told about the pending surgery to remove one of the old organs due to new complications.
Nope. Putting a new kidney in is easier than taking the kidney out of the donor. Removing a nonfunctional kidney would extend surgical time and increase bleeding.
“Do you think these extra kidneys make me look fat?”
Multi-kidney shaming is NOT OKAY!
Yeah, YOU survived.
Anybody else see CA around here since then???
I got away because I managed to battle to a draw and we realized neither of us would be able to kill the other.
Poor CA was probably unprepared.
You’re the one who brought a weaponized bee along!
When opportunities present themselves, you have to take them.
It’s not like there are a lot of convenient places to dispose of a body in the north woods of Wisconsin…
“Convenient”? If you’re gonna kill, you gotta be willing to get your hands dirty. Break a sweat, really.
Well, then there goes your case Mattlock. I don’t like getting my hands dirty, it feels all gross and stuff.

Hopefully Africa sees real growth from this. We’ll see if the leaders can keep their eye on the prize.

It’s not often reported, but Rwanda has been a success story. Internally conflict-free since the genocide, low corruption, economy slowing growing with the intention of Kigali being the Singapore of Africa. Unfortunately, has meant both the good and bad of Singapore, with Kagame slowing angling for a de facto single-party state and president for life status.
Single-party state with president for life would not be out of the norm for the region.
And it’s that kinda shit that leads to Hutus chopping apart Tutsis.
And the instant evaporation of all economic progress.
Well, if they had just been more effective at the earlier genocide, that wouldn’t happen.
Kagame gets quite a lot of votes in a country that a had a brutal civil war including ethnic genocide.

Somebody watched that documentary. (fuck forgot the name) It argued that aid was killing capitalism in developing countries because who can compete with free. It made a strong argument I agreed with but my proggie friends thought was heartless.
Poverty, Inc.?
Yes, that is it I think.
They don’t call them kleptocracies for nothing.
That’s the issue with a lot of “progressives”, in my experience. They think they are always correct in choosing the emotionally comfortable position; the “compassionate” position. They don’t understand that sometimes doing the ethical thing actually feels pretty bad (Example: If some guy were addicted to drugs and constantly bummed money from his friends and family, eventually they would have to stop giving him money so that he’s forced to change).
“Progressive” policies tend to feel good upon a very superficial examination. That’s probably why “progressives” have been so successful.
I’ve been on the money-losing side of that deal.
Single ledger accounting allows one to see the benefits without the costs.
The US might reduce gun deaths 3,000 per year with a confiscatory gun policy.
The US might suffer 40 million gun deaths if the populace can’t defend itself against a motivated, tyrannical party.
Compassion and enablement are completely different things, but the difference is situational and cannot be divined through emoting.
Giving an alcoholic a drink is the most unloving, uncompassionate thing you can do for them, but some see giving as an inherently compassionate thing to do.
If the alcoholic you are feeding drinks to is me, I would find it totally appropriate.
Hopefully indeed. The whole continent could use some good news.
That guy looks like a pre-1995 or so stock villain out of central casting.
That princess, though – would.
You’re right. I think Roger Moore killed him in Octopussy.
Ha I think that guy was in the back of my mind!
Playing stock villains must pay well if he’s worth that much.
“If the Yellowstone volcano were to erupt an estimated 87,000 people would be killed immediately”
Well if its going to happen, better it happens now so they don’t have to suffer through another presidential election cycle.
Humans can’t feel magnitude 2 earthquakes, but 2012 was a great movie, Woody getting snuffed out by a hill! Awesome!

Supervolcanoes are too localized to use as tools to shape global policy.
It’s official; the wife and I are moving to Seattle in September. We’re opening another office for our employer.
We need some more employees.
So, if you (or someone you know and trust) live in the Seattle area and are interested in independent auditing/examination services for the Asset Based Lending industry, please contact me at my handle at gmail.
Good pay, benefits. Don’t have to wear a suit/tie. Don’t have to go to the same cubicle and see those same assholes everyday. Only requirement; got to have a Bachelors degree. Excel skills are helpful. Doesn’t matter what major. No accounting experience necessary, we’ll train you. There is some travel to Portland, Vancouver, Utah, Idaho, Alaska, etc. but you’ll always be home by Friday (no weekends).
There’s no HR, not a politically correct company. It’s pretty cool. Please email me with questions or refer a friend.
The job title is “Field Examiner”. As independent auditors, we are hired by Asset Based Lenders to perform due diligence on existing loans, or to establish a financial survey for new loans. Daily duties will be auditing companies financials, inventory, and other assets. Testing and findings are compiled into reports and presented to baks/lenders/factors.
“Only requirement; got to have a Bachelors degree”
And so the college scam will forever continue so long as employers look to a degree as necessary credential to prove merit.
I could do it right now, but no degree,
Ah well,
This is true. It’s not my company. We have enough trouble finding people. The owner could give a fuck. It’s the banks that hire us that require it.
Bummer, but typical
I envision the college system like a factory cranking out products…
This factory has a reputation for making products that are second to none. Many customers won’t even think about accepting a product that didn’t come from this factory. And for much of history, this reputation was fully backed up by the quality of the products.
But recently, something has gone seriously wrong in the production process. A few bad products have gotten to the customers, but they mostly write it off as a fluke and continue believing that the factory is still trustworthy. But the production problems are not getting fixed, and more and more bad products are getting out the door. Customers are starting to wonder if this factory is so great after all. There is speculation that maybe these bad products are not just outliers but part of a larger trend. Some people are seeing an opportunity to start new factories with leaner, more efficient production processes, and some customers are expressing a willingness to buy from them.
The factory better shape up quick, or else there will come a day when all the customers realize that this factory is just cranking out junk, and their reputation will be destroyed. This factory better shape up quickly or lose their market share.
I like this analogy.
I do, too; I see everything as a process
material: the range of student backgrounds has never been wider
machine: the infrastructure of university has never been wider
method: an linear engineering curriculum can hardly be compared to English lit
man: staff have devolved from steady elders to a corps of associates and TA
milieu: the financial and social climates of students are orders of magnitude more squirrelly than they were in the 50s
It makes sense that a weirder, disparate range of product is produced. I think companies should be a ton more flexible about how the recruit; I learned a lot about warranty management and even Excel from an English major once.
If I was 20 years younger (and, y’know, American) I’d jump at this.
Wait, you’re a furrner?
You really haven’t been paying attention, have you?
Nope.
I have. Congrats on the move.
?
Thanks, mang.
If I was getting off active duty like I was Oct 16, I’d jump for this. Nearly applied for some roaming crop insurance adjuster positions in WA at the time.
Huh, so someone with no degree but experience in auditing/accounting would be passed over for a home builder with a degree in architecture?
“Of course, the first candidtate doesn’t meet minimum qualifications.” – Hiring Manager.
Kind of yeah. The banks get very specific about the qualifications and experience. They can get pretty ridiculous, to the point we don’t deal with certain banks. Publicly traded banks have standards as dictated by their shareholders. So, what are you gonna’ do?
I’ve never met an auditor without a degree. I suppose there are bookkeepers without one.
Company policy on ccw?
Asking the important questions.
I don’t think there is a policy. However, the company I was at in Ogden, UT last week had a “No Firearms Allowed” notice by the front door. So…
So…you ignored it?
I think Washington permits open carry,.
Those big distances and Vancouver: plane time and at least one international vector. Maybe if you do it all the time you can get good at rules and paperwork and locked case and ammo rules, but I’ve just never done it and I hate being without a friend.
So being naked in the office would only be a tick more annoying than all that other time you’re already exposed?
It’s official; the wife and I are moving to Seattle in September
My condolences.
Beautiful area if you can deal with the drizzle and grey.
*swoon*
But I suspect it’s the people I wouldn’t be able to deal with.
I couldn’t. I spent two years in WA state. Didn’t see the sun 18 months out of the 24 I spent there. No thanks. The Olympic Peninsula is beautiful if you happen upon it on a sunny day though.
Yeah, I enjoyed staying in Port Angeles and hitting Hurricane Ridge and driving to the coast and hiking through the Ho.
A good friend lived there for several years and then couldn’t take it anymore. According to him, “I got in my car and drove until I came to a place where there was not a single cloud in the sky.”
He settled in Albuquerque.
He should have picked a different city… poor bastard.
Heh. Mom’s folks settled here when their car broke down on the way to California.
Spent 2.5 years there not counting deployment and loved it. Course we also had 100 days without rain in summer 2012 – talk about miserable.
I got a speeding ticket there in 1998 for going 56 in a 55 zone. Fuck those assholes and their lattes. They sold espresso literally everywhere. The home depot has a coffee stand. I loved the coffee but hated the place. Only thing I liked was the ability to take a boat for your daily commute.
interested in independent auditing/examination services for the Asset Based Lending industry
That must be a total panty dropper.
Pays well. So, yeah.
Yeah, that’s the problem, isn’t it. You can be an Adonis with a twelve inch penis but if you’re a layabout bum, no woman wants you around. And I would know, I’m a layabout bum.
think so?
I think it’s how a man carries himself; if you have a craft and pride in it, you’re in the game, aren’t you ?
I just wanted to craft a joke by misdirection by implying I’m a big dick Adonis then admitting only to being a layabout bum.
I wasn’t insulting egould’s profession, though. It’s just a bit of a mouthful. Like my penis.
fuck me
I’ve stepped on my own manhood twice in five minutes.
Whiskey never let me down before.
I sat on myself!
In August, I will be doing a road trip. I’ll be passing through Atlanta, Nashville, St Louis, Omaha, Cheyenne, and some other places. The turn around point is Multnomah Falls in Oregon. After that, I’ll drive through Montana, North Dakota, and Iowa.
Anywho, if you live near any of those places and have the time, I won’t mind making a stop. If you have a couch I can crash on for the night, so much the better. It beats staying in one motel after another.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the nuclear jet prototype near Arco, Idaho.

This has already been covered. It’s NEWKEWLER.

If you are headed east out of Fargo, I’m a 100 miles away in MN. Got a little cabin available, totally modern, totally free and very quiet.
Just watch out for territorial bees.
We checked the bees/honey production today. Bees were calm and quiet, very docile. Not too much production but the weather has been cold and probably no flowers. I’m guessing the bees may have some sort of negative vibes for out of towners, maybe.
Well, you’re one of the hive.
I planted honeysuckle around the mailbox because I’ve always wanted to be bitten by a copperhead while I was bringing in the bills
and they stay fairly coated in hummingbirds; we’re several miles south of you, of course
Los Angeles, but I’ve seen those falls and they’re pretty cool. Just watch out for the Portlanders, they are totes whack!
North of St Louis a bit myself but I’m not sure you’d want to try and get here. It might be okay by August but we’re not sure yet. Takes about 2 1/2 hours now to get 40 miles as the crow flies. We’ll find a spot for you if you do.
I thought “global warming” was now “klimate krisis”. Catch up, old man.
Don ET – can you clarify your comment in the last thread about business cycles and lifecycle funds?
FWIW, I did decide to reallocate more to the index funds and less to the lifecycle 2040 one.
I refuse to put any money in a lifecycles fund. Honestly, even after retirement, I want to maximize growth in case I live to 120. Or to leave to my daughter.
I have defined benefits and it costs me 11%. I just have to make it to maybe 70 y/o before i retire. At 65, I’ll only have 15 years in and probably only get 50% of my salary or so. At 20 years it would be more like 75.
The backing assets and that entity and the agreement must make it until you die, right ?
City Of Los Angeles is my employer. Likely gonna make it.
Suppose you need $1M in your sixties, $1M in your seventies, and $1M in your eighties: two thirds of your liquidations are over 30 years away, plenty of time for an aggressive portfolio to recover from whatever bears might hit it (probably five business cycles away, so: you can absolutely ignore the highs and lows on that part of your money and simply focus on investing well . . . what else should you be thinking about!?!).
As for that first $1M: it’s still 20 years away. Suppose an average business cycle is six years, then you could start adjusting tuning your allocations on that first $1M twelve years before you need it (2040 – 12 = 2028) and find a comfy time to start converting riskier assets to less risky before you get stuck in a protracted down-turn (in case there’s a down cycle that’s a lot longer than anyone predicted like the Depression).
I’m not saying that I’m immune to Efficient Markets; I can’t time markets or pick stocks any better than anyone. But I can say that in the decade before I retire that when I’ve had a nice run-up and already seen over 70% growth in my most aggressive investment, I can say I’m happy enough with that and have met budget for those dollars this decade and retire those assets in favor of much more conservative assets. If I win Kentucky and the Preakness, why run the Belmont and risk my nice streak in a really long race for a place on a list or a broken leg when I can go straight to stud for big bucks now?!!?!1?
So why talk about retirement dates when less of a third of your money needs re-allocation consideration within the next decade if then?
Random thought
It seems that most people have a desire to compete so they can be the best. Animals compete for food, territory, mates, etc. To an extent, people do the same. The interesting thing is that people will compete even when they don’t have to. What do they gain? My best guess is that many people are addicted to the feeling of dominance. Feels over reals, all the way down.
*puffs up chest, struts around*

Serious answer, never try to understand humans. They’re fucking crazy.
In many cases, yes. But I’m here with 7 billion of them and I have to try, right?
I find muttering to myself keeps most of them away.
Every time I drive past a feed lot for cattle there is a pile of manure in the middle with one cow standing on it.
Cow: “I’m king of the world!”
Slaughterhouse dude: “Come this way”
Cow: “OK!”
At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
-Italian proverb
some people keep competing even after they have already won
That was an epic fail. He couldn’t have done worse if he’d had a stroke before teeing off.
I was also going to say something rude about Ayrton Senna, but it seems their is reason to believe he didn’t blow himself up.
I suppose that is the fundamental difference I have with most of humanity. I have no desire to dominate anyone, I just want to be left the fuck alone.
This subject came up a week or so ago and I repeated what I have said here.
You want to be in charge? Do you have rocks in your head? Being in charge means everyone else’s needs, wants and most importantly their fuck-ups dictate your life to you. You end up without choices. Fuck being in charge. After I said that I could see the wheels turning in their head.
“Yeah, well….now that you put it like that…”
To me, competition is the way objective reality exerts itself.
I prefer subjective reality.
If the competition is fair, your subjective reality doesn’t have any effect on the scoreboard.
Dont mistake resistance for dominance. I will protect my own and protect my principles with fiery wrath.
I will not however impose upon others my will beyond what I do not believe for myself.
Bought a bottle of Old Overholt rye today. Yummy.

AOC is one of the only well publicized champions who is trying to save the planet from the Republican’s obliteration ideology as they continue to pine away for a few stupid planet destroying dollars more.
Such a deal though, uh.
WaPo’s finest.
Jesus what a cess pool of idiots.
I’m still waiting for actual evidence of Trump’s alleged homophobia.
Yep. It wasn’t Clinton who literally draped themselves in the rainbow flag in 2016. And it wasn’t Clinton who said they didn’t care which bathroom Jenner used on her property. It wasn’t Trump who in 2004, as a US Senator, was seen in CSPAN saying marriage is only between a man and a woman.
Trump is the Commander in Chief of the US military which celebrates “Pride Month” each June. If he is so anti-gay why does he permit the use of time and money by the military to celebrate gays in the Services?
AFAICT it’s about trannies in the military.
See: the phenomenon described in that Quillette article the other day about how the left, after it gains 99.44% of what it wants, must get more and more radical in its demands.

You in CO?
For a month, living the Motel life…..
Yay, exploding muffler douche is circling the block for hours on end again today. That never gets old.
I run around in the Summertime,
Saying, how bout this heat?
I’m an asshole,
“I took off my muffler to make my engine louder! No one’s ever thought of that before! Huh, I wonder why it’s called a ‘muffler’…does it muffle sound or something?”
I don’t know WTF it is. Or even whether it’s a car or bike. But you hear him apply the gas for a few seconds, then loud boom and car alarms. Repeat x 1000.
Serious suggestion: get some really loud speakers and play this as soon as muffler douche starts doing his thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yeb08cbUswk
If I was a more vicious man, everyone who irritated me with loud noises would be duct tapped to a chair and forced to listen to that for 12 hours.
Last weekend the elephant children below me were doing their tumbling and furniture-diving exercises again – which for some reason are accompanied by loud screaming – and in a momentary fit of anger I banged on my floor in imitation. Was rewarded with one of the fuckers who lives there coming up and ringing my bell. Yeah, like I’m gonna answer that.
So yeah, maybe I could kill two birds with one stone and blast that out my living room windows.
Not that bad, really.

My friend’s dad did in spades. Wiry little Italian American. He’d chase anyone he say down the street and force them to “Pick up that goddamn can you threw on the ground. You think this is your house!”. He was a complete asshole, but you liked him if someone cut in front of you in line. I didn’t spend a day with him when he didn’t chew out some stranger for doing something assholish.
I worked in a shop once, where the next door shop was a window tinter. One day he actually called the cops because a bike was too loud. He had been working next door to a fucking harley shop for years and today was too loud. Anyway, my boss was a grade a asshole and he had everyone fire up every bike there was and rev them all simultaneously for about 10 minutes. Guy snuck out a back door and we didn’t see him for the next few weeks.
Like nonsmokers sitting in the smoking section and fake coughing.
To comment on that ADN article about violence in Alaska…
I live in Alaska and lived off the road system for ~7 years. Most “native villages” are off the road system and only accessible by plane from the various hub cities across the state, like Bethel or Dillingham or Nome. The villages and cities have zero and nominal tax bases, respectively, to pay for police or pretty much anything else. So the villages, which are not incorporated, rely on federal funds for most services and the cities were only formed to get money from the state and have a concurrent tribe. The cities provide some services, but by and large depend on the state as well.
In short, these communities have no economy and no way to pay for police and other public services and throwing money at them will not help.
The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) set up a recognized tribe in all of the places where natives lived, or were forced to live by the government, in 1971 to settle land claims act as part of the pipeline development. I think it was 71. Anyway, so the tribes are ‘sovereign’ but don’t have tribal land like the Navajo or Blackfoot where they have true rule over it, except for a small reserve in far southeast Alaska. A village here can employ a tribal officer, but he’s bound to enforce state law, not tribal law. It’s a really bad set up. But at the same time, the tribes expect the state to pay for schools and utilities and so on.
I understand that the native people seem to have a low tolerance for alcohol, though I don’t know that it’s biological or cultural. I don’t understand with all the communications available that a person would stay in the village as opposed to getting some sort of education in the outside world that would encourage a change in personal behavior
Maybe those people have already left and the stay behinds are the welfare recipients?
“Maybe those people have already left and the stay behinds are the welfare recipients?”
You see that to a certain extent. There’s a massive brain drain where the talented kids go to HS or college outside of the village and never come back.
But think about it this way: You grew up in a 300 person village and got a shit education and don’t really have any skills or money, so how are you going to move to Anchorage or Fairbanks, let alone a hub city? You have no credit, no job skills, no work history. A one-way ticket from a far-flung village can cost $1000.
Also, the alcoholism has a genetic component but there’s also the social component where it’s like ‘fuck it, might as well get loaded because it’s not like I got anything else to do.’ I have no idea on what the percentage is, nor do I care to speculate.
Is booze prohibited (hahaha) in the villages? Must be expensive as well.
Yes, there’s a Local Option provision in state law where communities can ban booze. Most dry communities are out in the YK delta or the NW part of the state.
On a good day, you can sell a $150 for a fifth of rotgut whiskey in a dry community. Don’t ask me how I know.
You must have been desperate for rotgut.
I agree, but there’s no reason (drink) to prohibit an inanimate object. It only works the same way always. Commit a crime against a real, actual person, get busted. Possess a substance, meh, who cares.
I understand that the native people seem to have a low tolerance for alcohol, though I don’t know that it’s biological or cultural.
I’ve heard this my whole life and have come to the conclusion that it is bullshit. Point to me a biological marker that makes one group of humans different from all the others.
I’m not a sociologist so this is 100% my opinion. If daddy is an alcoholic who beats his wife every single day, then what does Junior have for a moral equivalent? My bet would be that Junior follows his father and the cycle continues.
I believe they have found one that has to do with efficiency of metabolizing alcohol. Not sure what that means for tolerance levels, but some populations sober up faster.
First paragraph is a quote.
For my birthday my wife got me a gift card to one of those “men’s salons” with a bar. I think it was a subtle hint that’s she’s tired of my cheap haircuts. I was pleasantly surprised, a quality haircut shampoo massage, hot lather neck shave and a drink for $30.
Soo, you’re no longer a neckbeard?
Too much. Supposed to cost two bits.
Blame the Fed for that.
The drink was $29.75

Just shave it all off and start over.
I’ll cut yours for free but you’ll have to cut mine first.
I cut hair at OCS, 50 cents a head. Bought my wife a $400 mink stole after I graduated with the haircut money. Quality was not an issue but I never had any complaints by either my fellow candidates or the tact officers.
I was frustrated by the charges of the base barber (and probably more so that I was subjected to multiple visits) so I bought a hair-trimming kit and offered to cut the hair of my fellow recruits. Airman Matthews offered to be the initial victim. I swear, he spent longer in the latrine trying to clear up his “haircut” than it took me to destroy it. My plans for being the squadron barber were ruined.
My room mate was a real life barber, he got my shitty haircut, I had a nice one, if an 1/8 of an inch all over can be called a style.

Question – if there is muscular pain that is a dull ache in most positions, but very sharp during a handful of motions which are uncommon but not unusual during ordinary daily activities that aspirin does nothing for, what is the best next step in treatment?
Alcohol.
^ this ^ is why this guy is one of my favorite Glibs.
Then check the thermostat.
Probably not muscle pain unless you did a hard workout.
Could you be more specific?
The pain is in the lower deltoid of the right arm, and spikes when reaching overhead, or behind the lower back, but near zero when typing on the keyboard. Moderate when hand is on the mouse.
I don’t know what caused it.
五十肩。50 year old shoulder. Sets in earlier for some than others.
Warm up, do gentle stretches, then ice it. Be careful, it could be referred pain from the shoulder joint.
you’ve looked into carpal tunnel, I’m sure
That expresses more in the forearm/hand. I successfully recovered from a mild case some fifteen years ago. So I’m familiar with the symptoms.
I was trying to f with you while I had my powerpoint gloves on, but this site “fixes” your old avatar when you change the new one. Maybe that’s a good thing: old mistakes go away.

of course not, just some stupid fun
played gold today and the only muscle that works now is my fuck around with Glibs muscle
Man, I got like ten or twenty of those all day and every day. I switch back and forth between naproxen, ibuprofen and aspirin. Eventually my guts start suffering and I stop taking any of it for a couple of weeks. Naproxen seems like the best working of the bunch, but man it wreaks havoc on my stomach.
Sure it’s not arthritis?
It’s definately in the muscle.
*as opposed to a joint.
Hmmmmm. A blood test would eliminate/confirm Lyme Disease.
Seriously, I’ve had Lyme as have many of my neighbors, each case has different symptoms.
I have RA. The pain is not always in the joint. For me it appeared in specific places that would seem random if not for repeatedly appearing in those places. Most often it was muscle pain. I have it mostly under control now. What you are describing sounds awfully familiar. You may not be able to get it diagnosed accurately for a while. It took over a year before mine showed up in bloodwork.
If you start to experience fatigue and/or insomnia in addition to the pain you need to see a doc.
Warning: If the pain shows up in your shoulders don’t let some dummy talk you into surgery. Avoid the knife like the plague and see a Rheumatologist.
Question – how long have you had the pain? With RA it tends to show up in one spot, last a few days to two weeks and then go away. A couple of days later it will reappear in the same spot on the opposite side of your body.
Every case is different but there are some general patterns.
Showed up yesterday evening – is starting to fade now.
No, there is no history of similar pains
Disregard what I said about Lyme Disease, I thought the symptoms were on going. Sorry, UCS
I’m paranoid, so I’m liable to see what the rate is to get a blood test anyway, for future reference.
pretty sure it’s muscular and necessarily not a ligament or tendon ?
Not sure about that, it might be connective.
Mouse Arm Syndrome? Disclaimer I’m not a doctor.
It’s obviously a tumor.
It’s not a tumah
Thank you. Exactly the reply I was fishing for.
I have asked my medical doctor of a father a similar question many times.
When I say, “it hurts when I do “this” particular motion.”
He says, “dont fo that.”
Well, that’s not an option with the motions in question.
Masturbation isn’t optuonal.
So your doctor is Fozzie Bear?
Yikes, Canada’s back line is really not doing themselves any favors. Houston, so maybe they’re heat stroking…?
They blew a 2-0 lead. Against Haiti. I know they’re hot but get real.

I’m just screwing around. Although I bleed orange, I almost never wear it . . . so obnoxious, so I figure the huge tri-star shines up your Glib world like a baboon’s ass, so I thought to tone it down and add some class.
Actually, I just figured out how to trim objects in powerpoint today and found my profile page last week or I would have done this months ago. I’m looking forward to being served on the TM violation.
And I’m open to suggestions . . . just screwing around.
Honestly, I have no idea what the Orange Ball With Stars even is. I assume it’s your alma mater, but I don’t give any shits about college sports (other than D1 hockey) so I’m clueless.
If I had to guess, I’d go with Tennessee, but that’s a WAG based on the color orange.
I thought he was a Dragonball Z fan.
I was thinking the top half of Mr. Peanut.
The tri-star is the field of the TN flag. Ours (there I go with that zeal of a convert thing) truly is three states with each part claiming to be the real deal (as opposed to TX where all parts are the real deal and accept the other portions as legitimate). Instead of west TN, though, I’d say it’s basically Memphis alone, hated by all others, such as it is in most states,
Like I said, having a bunch of orange like that of the power T that’s on the helmet is pretty obnoxious.
Some local firm got around all the TM problems by painting our tri-star orange, and it was an obvious and instant hit; I stole it.
Well, I’ll be. Interesting stuff.

MIAMI – The parents of Carmen Schentrup, a 16-year-old who was killed in the Parkland school shooting, filed a negligence lawsuit Friday against the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its mishandling of tips about the gunman.
Who do we get to sue to recover the extra taxes this is going to cost us ?
I predicted earlier that the parents of that murdered young woman in Utah will eventually be suing Lyft for negligence in allowing their driver to drop her at the address she gave, a park, at 3am.
That would be ridiculous. Assuming the park is bordered by, say, houses.
That foreseeability thang sure is squishy stuff.
MLB: the World Series home field advantage is no longer on the line, so their All Star Game is almost as lame as the others and just not worth watching
or am I wrong ?
They took that away? Then yes; it is back to being as lame as all the others. Well, almost as lame. I really do not understand why the NFL does one, other than a free trip to Hawaii.
Home field advantage from the all-star game was a dumb idea.
And the NFL some-star game hasn’t been in Hawaii for several years.
False.
Free agency and inter-league play killed the competitive spirit of the all star game. They needed a reason for the players to actually play up to their abilities. WS home-field advantage accomplished that.
Amazon is getting really bad with expedited deliveries disappearing in transit. This is now 2 orders in a row, and 5 orders in 6 months that hit the local distribution center and immediately got delayed. Usually that means it’ll never show up.
Huh. I’ve not had any problems. What distribution center is having the issue?
It’s saying Sterling, VA. It’s specifically the expedited stuff delivered by Amazon contractors in Prime vans. The shipped stuff arrives fine.
So… don’t expedite until they sort their shit out.
Yeah, you’d think I’d have learned that by now. I usually don’t even pay attention to the shipping speed, but maybe it’s time to avoid anything faster than 2 day
electric cars, global distribution: anyone can do that in just three weeks and a trillion dollars

Wow, I’ve had pretty good luck with them so far. I definitely prefer their service over USPS.
Yeah, my son was waiting for a video game yesterday. The USPS tracking had it in our town yesterday morning, but then it had traveled 3 hours away and in a different state by night. Today it was in yet another new state.
The USPS should totally do banking.
Had enough peas fresh from the garden for a sauce. Dee-lightful.

Scallops?
Yes. Great combination with the pea puree.
Huh. Your pee is funny colored.
God damn I hate when people with editing power change shit after it’s been commented on.
Heh heh heh.
Dayum son, that’s some professional chef lookin’ stuff there. Exactly what kind of sauce and meat is that?
That’s a pea puree composed of blanched peas from the garden whizzed up with a couple of tablespoons of chicken stock. Warmed and slightly thickened. The scallops are two ounce “dry scallops” pan seared in butter and olive oil.
And the Potatos?
Pan fried in olive oil with sweet onion, garlic and fresh thyme.
Lovely
My problem with peas is that I eat most of them while I am in the garden picking them.
That looks pretty good.
Same here. And I don’t have a ton of room. I have a total of 10′ of peas.
Thanks for the links, Spud.

“6/ Rep. Tulsi Gabbard served as a combat medic in the Iraq War. She became a progressive star when she was first elected to the House in 2012, but has since faced criticism for her conservative stances on Islam and foreign wars”

What?
Well, I guess Vox is making it official – war is a key component of proggy political philosophy.
And they are saying that “conservatives” are the anti-war crowd? Reality truly is stranger than fiction.
I remember when non-interventionism was lauded by conservatives.
When was that? 1939? Or 1999?
When Clinton was President.
Oh, for sure. I just don’t remember libs admitting it.
War has always been a key part of progressive political philosophy.

Wilson, Woodrow
Or the Girondins…
Lol. That’s rich. I guess when when your main demographic doesn’t know any better, you can say whatever you want.

She lost me when she said they shouldn’t declare Iran a terrorist state. The fuck they aren’t. She is right we should not go to war with them, but call a spade a spade.
Yeah, there’s a lot of kerfuffle over Trump not doing that. Sorry, NR, Trump ain’t Reagan.
The Iranian military assisted groups who attacked US troops in Iraq.
Why are they? They supported troops fighting U.S. forces.
If that is evidence of terrorism, then the U.S. is guilty as hell of terrorism for supporting “moderate militias” in Syria fighting against the legitimate government of Assad.
Or supporting Saudi troops fighting Houthi rebels against the legitimate government in Yemen.
Or, well you get the gist. The U.S. supports all kinds of fighters all over the world.
Iran is guilty of having the U.S. intervene in their internal affairs for 50+ years and fighting back a little bit.
I was thinking more the Hammas/Hezbola support. And yes the US has supported many bad actors including what is going on in Yemen, but, maybe I am delusional, I think it is not to take over and hold territory and kill as many people as possible but look for stability. No we should not be doing that at all but I am not the one in charge so I just have to pick a team. If Iran had its wishes we would all be dead and I am not going to pick that team.
I’m pretty much a Realpolitik kind of guy but at this point I’m struggling to understand exactly WTF we are doing in the region at all. What is our interest? We can defend ourselves without sticking our dick in there, it seems to me.
No doubt historically it was an oil interest and access to it. Now I don’t know.
Yeah, I keep hearing “keeping trade open” as an excuse. What are we trading with them aside from oil? I know Cuomo and friends want to keep us dependent on Mideast oil but I have heard we are now largely independent of it now.
Petrodollars.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2016-05-30/the-untold-story-behind-saudi-arabia-s-41-year-u-s-debt-secret
Once the U.S. totally repudiated the gold standard and went to 100% fiat currency, they had to find some way to keep their currency valuable.
oil interest and access to it
I’ve never understood this idea; oil is fungible; it’s a commodity. Oil has no value unless it’s sold. Turning off the spicket doesn’t keep the servants paid and the Rolls rolling.
Well, there was this time when the hand on that valve had a great deal of influence.
Then the 70s ended and we developed better extraction methods, but the memory lingered, and some people have not realized OPEC has no control over the US, and less power over the rest of the world, since we can take up a lot of slack while they’re feeling the pinch on their own budgets.
Paywalled.
Paywalled. Try this one.
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/072915/how-petrodollars-affect-us-dollar.asp
Basically when the U.S. went off the gold standard in the 70’s we made a deal with the Saudis that they would sell their oil in U.S. dollars and we would provide military support to them.
They prop up our currency by only accepting U.S. dollars in exchange for their vast oil reserves and we prop up the House of Saud with our military.
A couple of things:
a/ I don’t think the Saudis ever cut their production more than 25%. LIke I said, they like their cars and their bitches or they would have gone to the mattresses. I think even threatened further reductions were abandoned.
b/ The Eisenhower protectionist quotas had prevented a more efficient global market from achieving ideal fungibility, the brake on local friction or threats thereof. Because Republicans understand business, I suppose.
I honestly can’t evaluate that in my current state. Maybe later.
But haven’t we moved beyond that?
Really? That’s all they’ve done? Come on, you damn well know better than that. I get your fanatical anti-war stance, but don’t ignore facts and make the mullahs sound like some poor David fighting the evil United States Goliath.
Terrorists target civilians. And to my knowledge, the US has never supported groups that purposely target civilians as their goal. Iran cannot say the same. And you know it.
This regime is bad, no doubt.
But what do you call it when an arguably legitimate government is overthrown and a king placed where a prime minister had been.
If this regime had returned to some sort of liberal order with legitimately elected elements, it would be a stronger argument, of course. But if we go back 100 years, Iran didn’t come to screw with the US: it was the other way around. Their reaction is merely post-colonial, is it not ?
“Terrorists target civilians. And to my knowledge, the US has never supported groups that purposely target civilians as their goal”
The U.S. actively supports Al Queda. As far as I know, Al Queda is a group that specifically targets civilians as their goal. They also happen to be the group that bin laden and his buddies were members of when they flew airplanes into the twin towers and the pentagon.
https://providencemag.com/2018/08/strange-bedfellows-is-the-us-supporting-al-qaeda-in-yemen/
That article is just about Yemen.
We have also served as Al Qaeda’s air force in Syria in recent years.
I’m not fanatically anti-war. I’m fanatically anti stupid as fuck imperialist foreign policy that actively supports those who hate us.
Further, the Iranian’s geopolitical power was held in check for a long time by the Iraqis when they were under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein.
The U.S. killed him, leaving the area open to Iranian influence and then acted surprised when pro Iranian forces made there presence know in the region.
For some reason that article isn’t loading on my shitty internet connection.
I will read it if it ever loads, but I will say that having the same goals (for different reason) as Al Qaeda is a long ways from actively supporting them and serving as their air force.
I’m also fanatically anti stupid as fuck imperialist foreign policy, but saying that the US is a terrorist state and that Iran is just fighting back a little is taking it a little too far.

“Online trolls worked, with apparent success, to skew post-Democratic debate online polls in favor of dark-horse candidates such as Tulsi Gabbard and Andrew Yang. And major news outlets took the bait, showing how vulnerable are to manipulation.”
https://twitter.com/voxdotcom/status/1144761147868008448
“The Democratic debates helped demonstrate the dubiousness of online polls
Gabbard and Yang were the big winners — on Drudge, at least.
If you watched Wednesday and Thursday’s Democrat debates, you perhaps came away thinking Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Julián Castro, and/or Bernie Sanders’s ideas were among the big winners. But if you didn’t watch and later logged on to the Drudge Report to get caught up, you’d come away with some very different conclusions.
Online trolls worked, with apparent success, to skew post-Democratic debate online polls in favor of dark-horse candidates such as Tulsi Gabbard and Andrew Yang — and in a number of instances, major news outlets took the bait.
Gabbard won a Drudge Report poll conducted after Wednesday’s debate by nearly a 3-1 margin over the second-place finisher, Elizabeth Warren. NBC’s Ben Collins and Ben Popken reported that the result was fueled by posters on 4chan, an online forum known for racism and misogyny, who linked to a number of online polls, including Drudge, and asked fellow users to “GIVE HER YOUR POWER.”
Trolls were up to similar shenanigans last night, according to Ali Breland of Mother Jones. Despite speaking less than any other candidate on stage, Yang — with help from the 4chan message board /pol/ — won the Drudge poll by a more than 2-1 margin over second-place finisher Marianne Williamson, a fellow dark horse who mainly made an impression thanks to her unusual brand of endearing bizarreness.”

In the last thread someone asked about recommended wallet software.
Someone suggested Coinbase (because they knew someone who used it). Horrible suggestion. Coinbase is an exchange, and rule #1 of crypto is NEVER HODL ON AN EXCHANGE.
Every asset has a ‘core wallet’ you can download, but if you want something simpler with a clean UI that will hold most of the major cryptos, I recommend the Exodus wallet.
Not your keys, not your crypto. If you store your coins on an exchange, expect to lose them at a moments notice. Don’t learn that lesson the hard way – take it from those of us who have. For long term storage, use a paper wallet.
Also, obligatory sales pitch because I want all libertarians to be rich enough to have fuck you money – buy a bitcoin and hold it for 5-10 years. Don’t sell or trade it. It will become the most valuable thing you own sooner than you expect, at which point you’ll never be able to buy a whole one and regret not doing so now. Don’t freak out about a 30% correction in a single day; it happens. Don’t freak out about 400% gains in a month; it happens. The highs and lows always get higher and huge institutional money is flowing in. Don’t miss the train.
It will become the most valuable thing you own sooner than you expect,
I’m not sure about that. I am pretty sure some of these cats here own some still in the box collectable action figures.
I’m not selling them!
Actually… I have some spare unopened 40K kits that are limited availability / out of production that could be sold for the right price.

Xi is our first tranny world leader? Or isn’t he the first bear world leader?
Just Sayin’ has been er…. saying that the biggest problem with liberalism is liberals themselves. I think he is correct. From the very beginning the biggest flaw of liberalism is that the liberals have been shitty liberals and at times very self-serving ones. It seems an ideology of why the government should leave you along is no longer good once you are the government.
The French Revolution is a perfect example as there were clear tendencies for repression, totalitarianism, TOP MEN, militarism, economic regimentation, socialism, collectivism, etc. being demonstrated.
Or how the Guardian and the Democrats very willingly rejected liberalism.
Is this Fox News or MSNBC? What’s a neo-fascist?

No actually, Fuck You. You don’t get to try to cite that, you get to wallow in the fact that you are a filthy liar.
Those Murdoch boys like their cocktail parties…
Hell Robby’s article on this event was much better. I don’t even remember a ‘to be sure’.
I’ve heard Fox is going woke… I dunno about that, cuz I don’t read much there. But I see it happening at the NY Post. All the new millennial stringers are woke AF. It’s jarring when they still reprint lots of columns from NR or Manhattan Institute.
Derp is an socially transmitted disease evidently.
It’s being skinsuited. Wresting control from Ailes was the first step.
Oh great, so now they’re going to move the right side of the Overton Window even further to the Left? Most Lefties already see Fox News as some “extreme right” network…
Of course. And it will still be “right wing” even as it’s swings leftward.
why is it that “leftists groups” get to go unnamed, but one specific group from the right get’s named, so that it is the only org associated with these violent riots?
what is the obsession with cement, one mere constituent of concrete ?
Oh, fuck off.
But will he make it home tonight? That’s what is important.
Funny how the TEAM that’s “notorious for street fights” didn’t supply any of the arrestees.

I don’t know I am kind of sceptical of how truly independent Huawei is being that it needed Chicom permission to operate overseas or that Xi can have Ren arrested for corruption or treason at any moment.
” They imply he created his company as an elaborately mounted Trojan horse for communist hackers and spies”
Hmmm considering the time i was learning about networking and left port 22 available for the world to try to access (luckily i was smart enough to have it password protected by a pretty strong password) i got hit about 10,000 times in 3 ours all from 4-5 IP’s originating from Chineese Government owned enterprises… I wonder where people get that idea.
OFFS.
How fucking gullible can you be?
Pro-tip: China lies. About everything.
Wacist, obvious…
Yes. This seems to repeatedly get overlooked.
In the United States, anxious experts and rivals have offered many explanations and alibis for the Huawei miracle. They depict Ren as an ex-army officer with sinister ties to the Chinese government. They imply he created his company as an elaborately mounted Trojan horse for communist hackers and spies. As the story goes, huge subsidies and gigantic heists of intellectual property account for Huawei’s meteoric ascent as a state-owned and state-ruled enterprise.
*sigh*
1) as an IP attorney at one of the major rivals, we don’t give a shit about a single founder. We give a shit about past and ongoing abuses, including stealing IP and abusing discovery to steal trade secrets.
2) we are walking a tightrope. We would love to see Trump make a direct competitor his bitch. However, retaliation is foreseeable, and we don’t want to lose our China market share.
3) whether or not the ChiComs actually own Huawei, they hold Chinese companies to different standards than foreign companies. They have no qualms about letting Huawei get away with whatever they want.
There is no amount of stupidity that the DNC cannot conjure up. No amount of stupidity they cannot imagine. Good qawd, we are doomed if these idiots ever get in power again.
I worry about the Senate: it should be the nice end-of-the-line block for White House outrages; but they don’t look very keen lately, either
I wouldn’t mind having a dem idiot as president as long as the Rs can win back both houses of Congress. That seems to be the most effective formula for keeping deficit spending down to a level where I won’t be trading ammo for food in my retirement years.
It’s thundering here… that is sort of rare here…
Heat thunder?
I dunno, but it stopped now….
It’s heading my direction. I’m still not used to the mild weather here. Rare thunderstorms, rarer tornadoes, no droughts, rare blizzards, and flooding doesn’t linger for a week.
Sounds wonderful. Spring/early summer storm season here in tornado alley can be a bit nerve racking.
I was sort of amused when I first moved here and people talking about ‘storm’. Really? You know it wasn’t a bad storm when you aren’t dead and you go outside and your neighbors houses are still there. A tree branch down is NOT a bad storm.
Yep. Worst here is the occasional windstorm. We don’t even really get ice storms here. The only thing that sucks about the weather here is the humidity.
where do you miss most ?
When I was in Fort Worth, a German colleague, (a Tennessee alumnus PhD) repatriated with his Alabama bride. Before he left, I told him some day in the far future he would be suitably removed to view his history with no currency bias, and he’d have to figure out where he missed, and, I promised him: it would be TN.
He’s back, she’s gone, and for some reason he’s in SC.
So, I’ve lived and/or spent substantial time in Dallas, Columbus, Indianapolis, Northwest Indiana, Palo Alto, and DC. TX is too hot and dry for me. Bay Area can’t really be generalized, except to say that I prefer seasons. DC is good weather, but not great. Columbus was probably the best overall weather. Not the dripping humidity of DC, slightly cooler than DC, 4 seasons each well represented, and less severe weather than Indiana and TX.
Bay Area was hands-down the ideal weather for me, and it’s not even close. I don’t care if I never saw another snowflake again, it’d be worth it never having to deal with another disgusting muggy east coast summer.
I miss Knoxville for a thousand reasons.
I miss the thighs of a certain lass in Frisco TX tremendously.
But there were thighs in Knoxville.
My freshman summer of college, I spent the first half in Columbus felling trees on some family land with my grandpa and building a Habitat house with him.
Every evening, I’d fight the urge to pass out and spent hours in the pool with a couple of high school neighbor girls.
Good times.

Left media is pushing the girl power narrative. Except for Tulsi. Limeys need our troops over there cause they can’t afford their own defense.

We know perfectly well how to get that stagnation going again. We know because every time redistributionist politics comes up, that’s all it achieves. Stagnation and reversal.
Silly and immature.

I can’t say I have.
Nor can I say there is a story in what you posted.
Exactly, grasshopper.

Right wingers in Portland? Ok. Sure. They are only ok with government control of industry, not confiscation…oh, wait that would actually be fascist! *gasping emoji*
Looking at the picture and realize how farcical PPB is. Why on God’s green earth would you show up to a protest wearing polo shirts, shorts, and wielding $1k+ bikes? Something else to worry about holding onto or getting damaged.
If you mean PPD, it’s because the officers won’t foot the bill for damaged/missing bikes.

Portlandia does everything stupid, don’t they.
Yes. At one time it was cute.

On this bottle of aspirin, you have the standard government mandated drug information label under a peel-up main label, as there’s not enough room on the standard label. There are also the standard directions that no one is going to pay attention to for a bottle of aspirin. To find and read them, you need to almost completely remove the label of warnings no one is going to read for the bottle of aspirin.
It was drummed into my head growing up that taking aspirin could cause deadly allergic reactions, so even though it’s the only OTC pill that does anything for me for pain and inflammation, I can’t take it because it gives me panic attacks. good job media.
I’m sorry to hear that.
I’m one of the lucky ones that has a doc who will give me prescriptions for drugs that work. Doin fine without the OTCs.
It’s aspirin. You put three or five or eight tablets in your mouth, and you can’t tell the difference two hours later.
I once had a terrible reaction to aspirin. I took four to alleviate a bad hangover, then went out to brunch with my girl. On the drive home I started feeling terribly drowsy. Getting super woozy at stop lights. Told herI had to go to bed as soon as we got home. So I napped for a couple hours. Then I woke up and realized I’d mistakenly taken four Benadryl tablets, which actually does something useful.
Heh I just got your book for “free”, with $1.01 left over in the class-action bucks Amazon gave me.
What’s this class action?
Spanish Yoga (get it? it’s like Mad Lib! Class_______ Action_____)
IIRC some sort of Kindle price-collusion nonsense. I’ve had several of those credits over the years. I can’t actually find the details in my email now but I swear the latest one was a $5 credit.
Ah, well, as long as I get paid and you enjoy the book, It doesn’t matter who’s money funds it.
I might even review it.
UCS can’t buy new typing gloves when you get it for free.
Nah, he gets paid. Maybe by Simon & Schuster or whoever but he gets paid.
I can make rudimentary things, but I’m no House Carpenter.
Woke up, cant sleep. So I start watching videos on aerated concrete construction and building houses from shipping containers.

I am trying to figure out why the sky was blue. I mean, 4:30 in the morning, I don’t expect dawn to arrive yet.
But it’s the depths of summer, so I figure that’s it.
3-4 am every morning I am up and making coffee. Years in a job trained me to just pop awake around that time. Y’all may have noticed that around 7 to 8 central time I disappear from here. That is my bedtime.
Normally, I disappear from here after work. My schedule has been thrown off by illness this week.
I hope you are better soon….and that problem you complained about last night I hope is just a mild pulled muscle and goes away.
Thank you. The original illness is effectively gone. The arm isn’t back to normal yet, but I’m getting more range of motion.
BTW, wife bought your first book, blew through it and bought the second. The genre isn’t exactly her forte but she said your writing is good and she bought the second, maybe even the third. She is sitting in our smoking area now reading.
I’ll take that as high praise.
It is.
Her normal stuff involves dragons, werewolves, vampires and some flavor of romance novel stuff. If she is sticking to reading outside her genre your writing is pretty good.
Wow. Boys are up, check out Trump addressing the troops in South Korea. He meets Bomber Boy at the DMZ and calls it a great friendship. Then he goes and makes a speech listing all the new toys the military is getting. Can’t wait to see how the media spins this.

Storm woke me up at 4:30, still raging at 5:45. Very unusual in duration and intensity for here and lotsa heavy rain. We can always use the water but destroys my gravel/dirt driveway. I’ve lost my DISH connection a few times but seems like the storm is drifting past and daylight is beginning to emerge. Not much wind and no power outages, most of the local lines are underground.
Had my coffee. I last an hour longer than Suthen, I get tucked into bed at 9 PM by my favorite local attendant
