Happy Tuesday, all. I’d like to report an episode of spousal bullying. My wife has been after me for weeks to go to the dermatologist and get “checked out”. I keep trying to tell her that the mole on my back is my friend and he likes it where he is, but she says she’s not into being watched while she sleeps. I broke down and did what I was told. Its a sad world we live in where a man can be bullied by his wife.
Trump signs IRS reform bill that, among other things, prevents IRS employees who were “involuntarily separated” from the IRS from being rehired as employees or contractors.
Mr. Lizard, if you are out there, stay safe. I look forward to the interesting ways Florida Man will kill and maim himself attempting to kill iguanas.
Vice President Pence cancels NH appearance to “return to the White House”. The series Veep assured me that the Veep is NEVER called to the White House. T/W: Autoplay. H/T Heroic Mulatto, who is glad that a man who won’t lunch with a strange woman alone is no longer despoiling his fine state. (No, seriously, the link is SFW and will not alter your state of consciousness)
It looks like we may have the first exit from the Democratic Presidential Clown Car.
We’ll throw this back to my teen hormones.
+1 Garbage
I don’t recognize this tune from Garbage, but I am digging it.
I was at a family gathering with my CD player and CDs back when Garbage was hitting it big. My niece was flipping through my CDs and looked stunned — “You Like Garbage?”. I said yeah, it was a great blend of 60’s melodies and 90’s teenaged angst. She just stared at me.
I am still a big fan.
Butch Vig is a really talented dude.
Yes he is. IMO, generally under appreciated.
90’s era Leap remembers. Leap remembers pretty much everything about Shirley Manson.
Doing some family tree research I was surprised to find a bunch of Mansons on my mother’s side (Livingstone). Distant relatives like third or fourth cousins, mind you. Anyway, she was the second name I thought of. No points for guessing the first.
Marilyn?
What the hell is wrong with you?
I like the way you think.
She was sexy as hell
Marilyn?
Yes. And Yes.
That may be the best obsessive stalker girlfriend song ever.
“Trump signs IRS reform bill that, among other things, prevents IRS employees who were “involuntarily separated” from the IRS from being rehired as employees or contractors.”
Will it prevent assholes from using the IRS as a weapon to attack their political enemies too?
It was the IRS that took down Capone. Why do you support murderous mobsters?
Because fighting against the government is treason.
Actually, yes. It does specify that not-for-profits must be notified of status reviews and that they have an independent appeal process.
“Mr. Lizard, if you are out there, stay safe. I look forward to the interesting ways Florida Man will kill and maim himself attempting to kill iguanas.”
Adblocked, but I’m sure it tosses in some bullshit about climate change.
It does, kind of. I can say their numbers have exploded in south Florida. None in Orlando, yet but I have seen Bahamian lizards here and a python, so just a matter of time.
Florida is the Australia of land penises.
In St. Pete the monkey troupe protects us.
Macaque Got yo back!
There was a time when Florida wasn’t hot as balls? It’s been more than 40 years since my first trip. All I really remember is being miserable in the heat.
It snowed in 86’
As recently as 2017 they were falling off the trees frozen. The fact that they hatch a dozen at a time and have no natural predators has nothing to do with it.
At iguanas supposedly taste good. Anybody here had it?
Chicken of the rain forest.
This guy.
Good song, this version is better though:

Well, any good?
Its alright.

Nice choice, but she triggered my mid/late 20s hormones.

“Pence was scheduled to travel to Manchester, New Hampshire, to participate in a roundtable discussion with patients at the Granite Recovery Center headquarters and deliver remarks on the opioid crisis and illegal drug flow into the state.”
Which wouldn’t have accomplished anything if he went.
Huh? I thought he was going to Salem, NH?
/reads article
/double checks local news story about Pence
Ah. He’s going to fly into Manchester, NH then go to Salem, NH. Flying into Manchester makes sense.
I don’t recall an airstrip in the Canobie Lake Park.
Pence found out there are women in NH.
More like HickenNOPEr, ammiright?

Lickapooper.
Do people still say “nice pooper” about someone’s rear end, or was that solely the domain of the degenerates I knew in college?
I’ve not heard that before. Let that sink in.
Check out the turd cutter on that one!
That is actually a new one to me also.
It’s from the 80’s.
Look at the shitter on that critter.
I wonder what it says about me that I remember all of those.
You’ve worked plenty of jobs with men who opted out of college, and perhaps the 2nd half of high school?
Wow. Nice elitism.
I mean, I worked a construction job in Houston. The hardest thing for me when I was listening to old guys talking about “getting their ass ate out” by the boss. They were using it as a synonym for “getting their ass chewed out”, but it took me about 10 times to figure that out. I just thought the big boss was into eating ass, and I was gonna have to do that to keep my job.
“getting their ass ate out”
Ha-ha! Wut? I’ve never heard it used that way. That’s funny…and could be very disconcerting.
I learned a lot of those from my summer job laying tile for a friend’s father’s company. They didn’t have much edumucation but Goddamn were they creative with the cursing.
Standard terminology in my circles. Maybe it’s a California thing?
If so, it traveled here as well.
Can confirm
Traveled via the Hershey Hiway?
I say “Sweet Pooper” under my breath sometimes.
Also, “sweet lid” to describe a good hat.
No…
I hope the mole isn’t anything serious.
Good, Pence won’t shit up NH. I saw a story earlier that he was visiting the state and thankfully not near where I live, but him not coming is even better.
The source said that the campaign only has about 13,000 donors, making it almost impossible to qualify for the next round of presidential debates in the fall. The campaign also only raised just over $1 million in the second quarter — about what he raised in the first 48 hours of his candidacy — and will likely run out of money completely in about a month.
Huh. I thought money in politics was bad?
President Trump on Monday signed into law a bipartisan bill to make improvements to the IRS that does not include a controversial provision that would have codified the Free File program for low- and middle-income taxpayers.
It also doesn’t include provisions to abolish the IRS.
I was joking about the growth. Its probably the same as it ever was, but given my father-in-law’s history with skin cancer, and more serious current cancer, I am happy to spend an hour at the dermatologist to make my wife happy.
I hope for the best for you.
A smoking hot nurse who wants to check my scrotum verrrry thoroughly? Thank you.
Does your wife read glibs?
No. She thinks my friend are nice, but weird. We’ve vacationed with Sloopy and Banjos, and SP and WebDominatrix dropped by for dinner once. She does like Pope Jimbo, though. She thinks he’s nice.
Well we all knew she was brain damaged by the fact she married you. It isn’t too unbelievable to think that her mental deficiencies also make her think I am a nice person.
I should also point out that Brett and his lovely wife met me in a cool dive bar. I can almost pull off normal when surrounded by the deviants in a Florida dive bar.
(and his wife is very nice)
I had a funny mole appear on my right shoulder many years ago. It grew fast and was funny shaped, extra dark and worried me because of all of the overexposure to sun I had in my youth.
I used fingernail clippers to part ways with it making sure I got the skin around it. It didn’t come back. *wipes sweat off of brow*
Here is hoping the mole you have is nothing. *crosses fingers*

“Hickenlooper publicly blamed his former staff Tuesday for his failure to gain traction in the crowded Democratic primary.”
So you are saying it wasn’t the Russians?
Do Democrats ever not blame someone or something else for their failures?
They’re fricken losers personified.
Well, sometimes they blame the voters.
That’s what you look for in a leader, huh? The absolute refusal to accept responsibility for anything negative.
He’s the guy who will take credit for his underling’s work, though.
John Frickenloser.

I wonder if he ever runs for anything again he will be able to find people willing to be on his campaign staff.
Apparently, he’s running for Senate.

So just like Klobuchar?
So he’s a dick.
Drudge juxtaposes Pence’s sudden return to the White House with an urgent Kremlin summit called by Putin. We need more collusion.
That’s not an accident. Drudge has turned into quite a twat.
Hickenlooper? Good riddance. He isn’t even brave enough to call himself a socialist. He has nothing to offer the Democratic party.
Titty Tuesday wishes Mr. Lickapooper a long retirement exiled to St. Helena.

I’ve done a lot of sneaker experimenting lately, and my survey says Under Armor Steph Curry model, while looking great, is the most uncomfortable sneaker ever made. It’s stiff and has no room for the toes. Next worst is Nike – also nice looking but stiff and stifling.

I just cycle through sambas. Hopefully Adidas never discontinues them.
I have an ancient pair of Adidas so wore down I can’t read the sole or the labels. The sole has these holes drilled through them so they’re super light and springy. I want to cycle through those.

Late on Monday, councilors voted to remove April 13, Jefferson’s birthday, from the city’s holiday schedule, NBC 29 reported. Jefferson’s birthday was the only holiday uniquely celebrated by the city.
While Charlottesville predates Jefferson’s plantation of Monticello by ten years, the modern city grew up in the shadow of Monticello and the University of Virginia, which Jefferson himself founded. Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified on July 4, widely considered America’s birthday. He also served as the nation’s first secretary of state, its second vice president, and its third president.
So why remove the holiday celebrating Jefferson? It seems political correctness had a great deal to do with the decision.
When the city council struck Jefferson’s birthday from the schedule, it added “Liberation and Freedom Day” as an official holiday, set for March 3. That holiday will commemorate the day U.S. troops officially emancipated slaves in Charlottesville shortly before the end of the Civil War. (NBC 29 falsely reported that this event happened “following the end of the Civil War,” yet the Union occupation of Charlottesville began on March 3, 1965, before the April 9 surrender at Appomattox, the May 9 Union declaration of victory, and the last Confederate surrender on June 23.)
“Having March 3rd be a designated holiday in the city will be a big step towards more accurately presenting the history of Charlottesville and recognizing the importance and value of the lives of the black residents who made up the majority of the population in the city and county at the time of the Civil War,” City Councilor Ben Doherty said.
Yea, sure.
Protests at Confederate monuments broke out across the country in the wake of Donald Trump’s election, and the white nationalists who came to Charlottesville in 2017 claimed to be defending a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Shortly after the riots, Trump warned about a slippery slope.
“This week it’s Robert E. Lee, I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down,” Trump said. “I wonder, is it George Washington next week, and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You have to ask yourself, where does it stop?”
Some have called for the removal of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., and even for the renaming of the nation’s capital. In 2017, a memorial to George Washington was removed from a church Washington frequently visited. Last year, college students in New York State demanded a Thomas Jefferson statue be removed, since the statue supports “white supremacy.”
I’d say the American population has been sufficiently dumbed down so as to be completely ignorant of their own history.
It’s not so much ignorant of, even though that is true, it’s the tendency to view every historical character through a postmodern lens.
Not every historical character. Stalin, Mao, Che, etc. all get a pass.
They’re willfully ignorant on those characters.
That too. People are unable to identify and understand context and think critically. The founders were by no means perfect individuals, but things they did led us to where we are now. They were the step in the right direction on many things.
I propose that we riot and tear down the Stonewall Inn in the Village. In Trump’s America there is no place for such a racist and homophobic institution.
Who’s with me!
Meh.
You expect me to travel to riot?
The current one isn’t even the original.
I did not know that
I didn’t know either. Meant to add it’s not even in the same building. It was in some explainer about how the Stonewall legends one thought one knew were mostly BS.
I’ve been in the current one just for the history. Now I feel stupid
When I lived in Chelsea I hung out a few times at a place a few doors down with a younger clientele. Stonewall is all old queens.
Will there be punch and pie?
There will be no pie at the Stonewall. Possibly an eclair or hot hot dog

Charlottesville is wholly run by rich progs.
Old Soviet joke: “In Soviet Union we do not wonder about the future. We know what the future will be. It is the past that is always changing.”
да, товарищ
The same people who applauded the removal of Confederate statues and said that they would never condone the removal of statues dedicated to the Founding Fathers, but the Confederates were different, will now applaud the removal of Thomas Jefferson and say that they would never condone the removal of statues to George Washington, but Thomas Jefferson is different.
Woe to those who first praised the iconoclast
Yep it was pretty obvious that the Confederate Flag purge would lead to this. They are already talking about how the constitution and the bill of Rights are racist and how individualism is white supremacy.
Also libertarians supporting getting rid of Confederate monuments is pretty nationalistic for a movement that hates nationalism.
My two-sentence solution for resolving Confederate monument conflicts:
If it’s on government-owned property, hold a public referendum to see if it will stay. If the voters say no, remove it in one piece and auction it off to the highest bidder. If it’s on private property, it’s up to the property owner and nobody else.
There aren’t good people on both sides.

It was by now a familiar scene of summer street warfare in Portland: Conservative marchers, this time pushing a #HimToo message in one of the nation’s most progressive cities, faced down a rowdy group of anti-fascist protesters.
Soon the tensions escalated, with a black-clad activist striking the conservative journalist Andy Ngo in the face while others slimed him with what protesters said were vegan coconut milkshakes. Mr. Ngo was left bloodied and obviously shaken, reporting the attack in a video livestreamed to his more than 140,000 Twitter followers when a city medic arrived to check on him.
“Where the hell were all of you?” Mr. Ngo demanded.
By Monday morning, the case was reverberating around the country through conservative circles, where prominent leaders were asking the same question. Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, called for a federal investigation, declaring without evidence that officials in Oregon’s largest city were allowing the violence as a result of their own liberal sympathies. A Portland State University professor called for impeaching the city’s Democratic mayor, Ted Wheeler.
Fueling the conservative alarm was the Portland Police Bureau’s own suggestion on Twitter during the height of the protests — later walked back slightly — that anti-fascist protesters had laced their milkshakes with quick-drying cement before lobbing them at the marchers.
With political polarization on the rise, the nation’s fraught conversations over immigration, race and policing are increasingly being held in tense street showdowns punctuated with eggs, bricks and, lately, milkshakes. Portland’s long history of street activism has made the city a central stage for many of those conflicts; this weekend’s protests left the police department facing unusual criticism that it had not only been slow to halt the violence, but with its questionable claim about cement milkshakes, had dramatically fueled the furor.
Tensions were escalated.
Without evidence.
Blah blah blah.

More evidence that the ChiComs are terrified of their economy going into complete collapse and need to distract.
I don’t know if you saw it, but they had a medium-sized bank collapse a few weeks ago. The Chinese dumped a bunch of cash in the system, but there is a high probability that inter-bank lending interest will increase. I’m not predicting collapse, but I do think they are about to have to write off a ton of bad debt and let some banks fail.

I brought this up earlier, but which would freak the proggies out more, the fact that we made contact with extra terrestrial life or that Trump was the one who got to talk to ET?
What if the ET’s said that their reason for finally revealing themselves was because they were worried we were on the cusp of destroying our civilization due to our panicked reaction to climate change?
“Look, our advanced technology will show you that the recent trends in climate are natural and not the result of anything humanity is doing. Here is the math. And to prove it, here is the exact weather for Miami, Paris, Moscow and Canberra for the next month.”
What if the ET’s said that their reason for finally revealing themselves was because they were worried we were on the cusp of destroying our civilization due to our panicked reaction to climate change?
What if the ETs said that their reason for finally revealing themselves is that there is finally a world leader who matches their ideal of refinement and sophistication and is worthy of their attention – and they insist on meeting with Trump? IFLS heads explode.
There is no guarantee that an alien culture, if it exists, would align with what we view as sociologically advanced.
I brought this up earlier, but which would freak the proggies out more, the fact that we made contact with extra terrestrial life or that Trump was the one who got to talk to ET?

“James Franco is ‘subpoenaed over video of him snuggling with Amber Heard a day after she claims Johnny Depp beat her bloody and will be asked to testify if the actress had any visible injuries’
James Franco has found himself wrapped up in the ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and his estranged wife Amber Heard.
The actor has been issued a subpoena by Depp’s legal team after he was caught snuggling with Heard on surveillance video taken inside an elevator at Depp’s Los Angeles apartment building.
Depp and his lawyers now want to Franco testify about his visit to Heard on May 21, 2016 and state whether or not the actress had any visible injuries on her face or body.
It was just one day prior when Depp left Heard bloodied and bruised in an altercation that resulted in their decision to terminate their 15-month marriage, according to claims she made in multiple court documents.
Depp has denied this allegation, and wants Franco to be questioned under oath about what he saw that day when he met with Heard according to his attorney Adam Waldman.
‘We are interested in James Franco and Elon Musk as fact witnesses because we have evidence they are men who saw Amber Heard’s face in the days and nights between when she claimed Mr. Depp smashed her in the face on May 21 and when she went to court with painted on ‘bruises’ to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order on May 27,’ Waldman told The Blast.”

Even when they do something right, they manage to fuck up the post-game presser.
A Minnesoda couple in their 60’s was swatted and luckily no one (or dogs) died.
So things are good. However, the cops while delivering a scolding on what swatting is and why it is a bad thing (all true) managed to come across with all the charm of an anti-smoking commercial.
So Skoogman is preparing for the next presser where he needs to explain why his men shot an innocent couple.
They will do whatever they can to save their own lives.

Oregon is on its way to making a significant change in what housing is allowed to be built in the state.
The state’s House and Senate have now both passed a measure that requires cities with more than 10,000 people to allow duplexes in areas zoned for single-family homes. In the Portland metro area it goes a step further, requiring cities and counties to allow the building of housing such as quadplexes and “cottage clusters” of homes around a common yard.
———
Experts say it would be the first state-level legalization of a housing type that has become very difficult to build in much of the U.S.
This type of housing is often called “missing middle” housing — that is, everything between single-family homes and mid- or high-rise apartment buildings. Buildings such three-flats or courtyard apartments used to be common, but many communities made them illegal, often as part of a strategy for racial and class segregation.
———-
Others were skeptical of the bill, including Portland real estate agent Laura Wood. “I have a lot of first-time homebuyers, and they all want exactly what I want,” she told OPB. “They want a house in a neighborhood.”
At least one letter writer espoused the common objections to increased density, arguing that the bill would “destroy neighborhoods” and “that the real winners will be developers, not people who can’t afford a home.”
Muh neighborhood character!
My god. People might find affordable housing.
Prediction: it won’t.
The unreported back story is Oregon has had severely restrictive zoning and urban growth boundaries for the past 45 years that is coming home to roost. This is an attempt by state planners to ram multi family homes into single family neighborhoods, drive up densification, and make owning a car as painful as possible short of an outright ban. This isn’t about freeing markets and loosening restrictions.
“They want a house in a neighborhood.”
Fuck that. Then you have neighbors.
^ this ^ The single biggest downside to neighborhoods.
a housing type that has become very difficult to build in much of the U.S.
*looks out window at a sea of triple-deckers, feels special*
A direct consequence of most people viewing their home as an “investment”.
“I got mine – you go live three hours away.”
Questions that will never have an answer:
– What’s the correct ‘character’ for this neighborhood?
– How did you determine that?
– Why does your preference for this ‘character’ trump everyone else’s property rights?
– What’s the correct ‘character’ for this neighborhood?
The exact amount and composition of people and houses as the day I moved in. Anyone who moved in after is a heathen usurper fucking up my peace and quiet and view
AKA “whichever characters maximizes the resale value of my home”.
I’d modify this headline to say “increasingly uncomfortable with public-facing, institutional, progressive LGBT culture”. I think large majorities of the public don’t really give a shit about people’s sexual orientation on an individual level.
https://thefederalist.com/2019/07/02/glaad-young-americans-increasingly-uncomfortable-lgbtq-culture/
Perhaps the LGBT-industrial complex should stop calling everyone under the sun bigots and homophobes.
I saw that. It’s going to be a real step backward in society when young people start embracing homophobia because of Big Gay Brother.
Perhaps they should, but they won’t. No rabble rouser ever knew when to quit.
Except most of the rabble rousers are a bunch of heterosexual rich people who love them some sweet sweet risk free virtue signaling.
There’s a saying about power…
They might be concerned that using the wrong pronoun will get them beaten, covered in milkshake, and doxxed.
When my mom was a manager oversseing the documentation group at a computer company in the 90’s, one of her employees came out of the closet to her. The employee wanted to bring her life-partner to company functions where spouses and girlfriends were invited. My mom said “no problem” and thought that would be that.
After a few months it became clear that the employee was struggling with the fact that nobody treated her or her girlfriend differently. She had expected a fight, or at least some attention, and instead everyone was going about their days like it was no big deal. To her, her unusual sexuality was a very important, defining aspect of her life. To everyone else, it was just another thing.
My mom finally pulled her aside and explained to her that nobody had a problem with her sexuality and it was OK to relax. After a few more months, the employee calmed down. My mom doubts most of the programmers even noticed anything (being stereotypically oblivious to social cues).
Same planet, different worlds.
Most people didn’t notice. For her that was the problem.
We had a friend in 9th grade who came out as gay at the lunch table one day. Everyone just nodded and went back to eating lunch and talking about silly teenage bullshit. He had this look on his face almost like we took the wind out of his sails by not pitching a fit and telling him that homosexuality is an abomination. Over the next few weeks, he engaged in increasingly audacious displays of gayness. None of us had any negative reaction whatsoever. Eventually, he sort of drifted away from us, and last I heard he was telling people that we kicked him out of our group because he was gay.
I chalk it up to the teenage tendency to be aggressively different and tell people to fuck off if they don’t like it. It’s kind of hard to do that if your way of being different is fairly common and uncontroversial.
Yep. There might be a lesson in there somewhere.
ROOOSHUNZ
President Donald Trump and his allies have long insisted that Russian’s 2016 propaganda campaign on social media had no impact on the presidential election.
A new statistical analysis says it may well have.
The study, by researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, does not prove that Russian interference swung the election to Trump. But it demonstrates that Trump’s gains in popularity during the 2016 campaign correlated closely with high levels of social media activity by the Russian trolls and bots of the Internet Research Agency, a key weapon in the Russian attack.
“Our results show that the weeks when Russian trolls were accumulating likes and retweets on Twitter, that activity reliably foreshadowed gains for Trump in the opinion polls,” wrote Damian Ruck, the study’s lead researcher, in an article explaining his findings.
——
In an interview with NBC News, Ruck said the research suggests that Russian trolls helped shift U.S public opinion in Trump’s favor. As to whether it affected the outcome of the election: “The answer is that we still don’t know, but we can’t rule it out.”
Given that the election turned on 75,000 votes in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, “it is a prospect that should be taken seriously,” Ruck wrote, adding that more study was needed in those swing states.
Shut down the internet. Limit political commentary to licensed journalists.
So they’re saying a couple million dollars at most in Facebook shitposts by a non-American entity defeated a billion dollar campaign by Clinton.
Might want to think that one over for a minute.
It is quite the damning statement isn’t it?
Why didn’t Hilary’s FB campaign succeed? And why didn’t she use Obama’s vaunted campaign machinery?
Yeah, color me skeptical that Russian bots were able to sway an election by shit posting. Of course, maybe it wasn’t shit posting. Maybe it was simply pointing out the corruption at the DNC. I could see how that would be more persuasive than anything that Hillary’s minions could come up with.
But – correlation! More funds!! Study!!1!
I have yet to hear an explanation on why the Russians would have preferred Trump to Hillary.
Because Hillary was gonna start at world war 3.
Yeah, there is that.
If anything , the Russians had Herself so compromised that there is no way Puttin wanted Trump.
Millions of dollars funneled through the Clinton Slush Fund Foundation along with millions paid for Uranium One.
It’s also doubtful the Russians didn’t know about everyone of Clinton’s emails being CC to China through her private server dead drop.
“Sick memes won the election”
– said super serious person who is not retarded, although is most likely retarded
Pepe deserved a Cabinet position.
Yeah, people liking things Trump surely is a leading indicator, not a trailing one. I mean, of course you “like” things on FB before you’re interested in them?
What the hell kind of logic is that?
“The answer is that we still don’t know, but we can’t rule it out.”
So you’re making shit up. Did they launch their attack from a base in the hollow moon? We don’t know but we cant rule it out.
Shut the fuck up you mendacious fuckwit.
Yea, that line jumped out at me as well.
I like how ever since the Mueller report came out, they’ve changed their line from “Mueller will prove Russian collusion once and for all” to “We can’t prove that it didn’t happen, so…”
Because it’s worked so well in Seattle, SF, and LA.
Austin plan to allow homeless camps faces backlash
American cities are now gated communities for the rich, while the other tax cattle needs to fend for themselves. Homeless encampments only effect the little guy who is no longer welcome in these “enlightened” cities
Little cities that want be big cities, cracks me every time
Wut?
Austin is a little late with their plan, the train left the station years ago
Austin has about 2M inside the big loop and 5M+ in the extended area.
When I was there in the late ’90s, there was a… character who was always out on 6th Street named Leslie. Leslie wore an army coat and fishnet stockings, and had lots of cardboard signs about the injustice of being run off by the cops for illegal camping. Leslie finished a close writein 2nd to the actual mayor in… 2002ish?
I would have picked the Wisconsin serial toilet clogger out of a lineup if given a chance.
Wonder what he did to the judge to get a sentence of 150 days when the prosecution only asked for 30 days. The poor bastard is doomed to go back to the pen because no way he (or any other Sconni) could adhere to the terms of probation.

Q posted the laminate wood furniture, but for $10 more, I think I would prefer the teak.
Should I get this? Would kinda round off my small-ish collection.
I’d recommend it. AKs are fun and the ammo’s dirt cheap.
If you have to ask, the answer is always ‘Yes’ but think of it as an installment on a growing collection.
Can never be too rich, too good looking or have too many of nice things.
Next question. Never bought a gun online, hows it work?
Should I stop by my local gun shop and show the link and ask their opinion? Obvi they have a bias, but it’s also telling whether the staff their will give me an honest opinion or try to sell me local wares. I enjoy putting my local vendors on the spot like that.
OTOH, I rarely go to the range so maybe I don’t need it at all. On the 3rd hand, for long guns, I have a 12ga, 20ga, ar15, .22, m1carbine, so an ak would really round it off. But my safe is full, ughhhhh!
It’s better to have it and not need it.
You purchase it from the website and they typically will ask for the info about your LGS. They will then (usually) contact the LGS directly to get a copy of their FFL. They ship the gun to your LGS, you go to said LGS, they do the background check, you typically pay 25 bucks or so for the transfer and you’re good to go.
Some places may do it slightly differently, but they all follow that general pattern.
Long story short, the internet seller requires:
1) Your money.
2) Your LGS’s FFL information.
They will ship the gun to the LGS, and then it’s just as if you’re buying the gun from the LGS, except you pay a nominal “transfer fee” instead of the cost of the gun. If you want, you can shop around to various FFLs in town to find the lowest transfer fee before you purchase online.
Thanks for info
Yes – You will need to ask a local place to do the FFL paperwork. If they aren’t cooperative, just head over to Gunbroker.com – they have a list of shops and their prices for the paperwork.

Btw, self-brag, I LOVE my marlin 989 .22
Looks like this, similar scope and all, but not as clean. I got it for ~$120 at gun show many moons ago

It is hard to beat a 22 rimfire rifle. More fun than the law should allow.
I have a Model 60, which is pretty much the same rifle with a tubular magazine.
What Q and Drake said.
Note that customer service from dealers varies.
Cutting out the fees and background checks for C&R guns is why I got my C&R license.
If the gun is available new, your local dealer might be able to order it for you and give you a discount. That’s what I did for my Tavor. I went over to my local dealer and told him I’m interested in getting a Tavor. He doesn’t stock them. He asked me what the best price was that I found for it. I told him. He said, “Let me see if I can beat that.” He did, but not by much. However, it was enough for me.
And dealer means holds an FFL. The gun club we used to go to obtained an FFL so they could transfer firearms for members. Ridiculously cheap, like $5 or $10 on top of the state background check fee.
Sounds like you need a scoped .308 🙂
Yes. Teak is nice in nearly any application.
Have you shot an AK? Try it before you buy it. I don’t really like AKs, but I enjoy my ARs.
Honestly, it’ probably be used more for ‘lookin at then shooting. I probably haven’t put more than 1000-1500 rounds through any one of my guns.
I place a high value on gun knowledge and culture though, if that makes any sense.
Like I said I rarely shoot these days, but my days in the urban environment are numbered. I feel the rural midwest calling my name. Some day I would like to have a property where I can set up a primitive range.
Is that a question? Hell yes you should get it.
Never stop buying more guns.

I don’t know if you saw it, but they had a medium-sized bank collapse a few weeks ago. Speaking of that Rooskie troll farm stuff- I really have no idea how any of this stuff works, but isn’t the object to generate ad revenue via clickbait? The “message” is whatever laser dot people will chase. I thought I heard they were running a similar program for the Hillary fans.
That does make more sense than the “official” explanation.
The Russians were running a similar campaign to benefit Bernie (supposedly) I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chinese were pushing something to help Hillary
Fucked that up. I blame it all on a clipboard malfunction.

(TW: Red State)
The noted reason for beginning the Russia investigation was that Papadopolous supposedly talked with a Mifud who the intelligence community claimed was a Russian agent. Now someone is leaking to the Washington Post that actually Mifud was employed by Western intelligence, but that they also suspected he was a Russian agent. Yet, he was still being invited to invite-only conferences put on by Western governments.
So, yeah, this was a massive lie.

“Insinuendo: Why the Mueller Report Doth Repeat So Much”
Good piece about the switching narratives and the disjointed explanations for why the investigation began in the first place.
I wonder how often this has been done in the past. How many politicians were ruined or threatened by the intelligence community, because they could not be trusted to maintain the preferred foreign policy of the steady state.
Hoover was the most powerful man in the country for a long time.
That’s just a snapshot. The meeting with Mifsud was set up by Stephen Halper. Halper is the guy who invited Papadopolous to give a lecture in England. Halper is also the guy who set up the meeting with the Australian diplomat. Before the meeting, Halper reminded George about the information Mifsud had told him. He mentions it to the Australian, who then contacts the FBI. Stephen Halper is a western intelligence asset.
How about I just call you cookie?

Fuck Oreo. Hydrox or GTFO.
The Family Dollar house brand Oreos put them all to shame.
I didn’t realize Hydrox cookies were reintroduced. Haven’t seen them in my local supermarket.
My mom worked for Sunshine Biscuits as a store sales rep when I was a kid. Part of her job was to remove products past it’s sell-by date from shelves.
In unrelated news, I was a fat kid.

Rhywun – I’d be shocked if anyone other than them took the title. Didn’t see the match, but from the score, the Pies match against NM must have been ugly.
Good news is the Suns are last and it’s hard to see them winning another game this year.
I didn’t know they were gone. I don’t eat cookies much any more but I might look for these. Oreos were always garbage.
Sir! Those are fighting words!
Not at all. You can have all the cardboard-flavored cookies with sickly sweet creme you want. I won’t stop you.
I was going to make a comment about them being discontinued, but when I looked up when that happened, I noticed they were reintroduced.
If Wikipedia is correct, Leaf Brands is in CA for whatever reason. It might be a while before they get to the east coast.
That business is crazy incestuous and mostly multinational conglomerates now. They should be available all over.
I don’t understand companies willing to alienate 1/2 their customers.

And GLAAD wonders why people are getting sick of this shit.
This is the dumbest shit ever. You’d be better off promoting Oreos as interracial threesomes.

As Suthen says, leftists are the same no matter when or where you are.
https://www.commentarymagazine.com/american-society/leftist-street-violence-isnt-new-and-its-not-going-away/
It only exists in deep blue cities that tolerate that crap. Even places like Boston quickly cracked down on Antifa and they went away. If Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco’s political leadership told the cops to crack down and arrest them whenever they appeared, Antifa would cease to exist.
I think Ngo’s lawyer is going to put a stop to this nonsense. Of course if the Justice Department would do their goddamned job…
Yes I’m expecting she will rape and pillage her way through Antifa’s Membership riolls and finances.
The issue in those cities is that the leftists are only competing with themselves. The primary determines the mayor and you don’t win the primary without the rabid assholes.
If this had been the Proud Boys doing something similar to someone like Cenk Uygar, good lord the outrage we’d be seeing from the same people that are poo pooing Ngo right now. This incident really is something of a litmus test and the people who are making apologies for it have exposed themselves as apologists for political violence as long as that violence is against the correct side. It’s disturbing how many of them there are.
It’s disturbing how many of them there are.
Name seven.
How many were listed in the link – six?
Feel free to co-opt my labor.
I keep hearing about how ‘tons and tons’ of people are defending Ngo’s attackers, but they always point to one Huffpo article and a couple of Blue-check-marks on Twitter (whom I’ve never heard of but they could be somebodies, I guess) the rest are just random assholes. My point is that it’s not disturbing as you put it, it’s insignificant. When idiots claim Neo-Nazis are on the rise and their evidence its a handful of tweets from Stormfront blog posts or the Richard Spencers of the world, they are rightfully ignored, which seems to me to be the correct response here as well. Not elevating a few idiots into representing a large swath of society.
You know, you have a point but the only place I’ve really seen (other than here) where people are discussing this beyond the “Did you hear about” you get in casual conversation at work is Twitter and I saw quite a few people there justifying or minimizing what happened. A majority no, but still a good many, maybe 20 percent or so. As long as Twitter isn’t representative of the Zeitgeist, and I suppose it isn’t, I think we’ll be OK.

We are now officially in the longest U.S. economic expansion in history — one perhaps best characterized by the excesses of extreme wealth and an ever-widening chasm between the unfathomably rich and everyone else.
Indeed, as the expansion entered its record-setting 121st month on Monday, signs of a new Gilded Age are all over.
Big-money deals are getting bigger, from corporate mergers and acquisitions, to individuals buying luxury penthouses, sports teams, yachts and all-frills pilgrimages to the ends of the earth. And while these deals grab headlines, there is a deeper trend at work. The number of billionaires in the United States has more than doubled in the last decade, from 267 in 2008 to 607 last year, according to UBS.
“The rich have gotten richer and they’ve gotten richer faster,” said John Mathews, Head of Private Wealth Management and Ultra High Net Worth at UBS Global Wealth Management. “The drive or the desire for consumption has just gone upscale.”
But there are also signs of struggle and stagnation at lower-income levels. The wealthiest fifth of Americans hold 88 percent of the country’s wealth, a share that has grown since before the crisis, Federal Reserve data through 2016 shows. Meanwhile, the number of people receiving federal food stamps tops 39 million, below the peak in 2013 but still up 40 percent from 2008 even though the country’s population has only grown about 8 percent.
——-
Blah blah blaah
[insert random “statistical” non sequiturs]
——-
Economic policymakers think the expansion could dim as stimulus from tax cuts and low interest rates fades while a U.S.-China trade skirmish still brews. They worry that even the underwhelming gains made by low-income people in the last decade are fragile and that people only recently brought into the workforce could be the first fired when a recession hits.
“The benefits of this long recovery are now reaching these communities to a degree that has not been felt for many years,” Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said last week. “Many people who in the past struggled to stay in the workforce are now getting an opportunity to add new and better chapters to their life stories. All of this underscores how important it is to sustain this expansion.”
Fed chairman says people all along the spectrum are doing better, writer ignores it.
Something something everybody’s got nice stuff but me.
Huh. I wonder what happened in 2008 that might have led to a dramatic rise in the number of people on food stamps.
Yes, there was a push to get as many people as possible signed up for food stamps. Now, why would that be?
Meanwhile, the number of people receiving federal food stamps tops 39 million, below the peak in 2013 but still up 40 percent from 2008 even though the country’s population has only grown about 8 percent.
Ignores that the government is actively trying to addict people to welfare.

How does this work? Say the most insane, inflammatory, kookie shit you can think. of and get attention…attention converts to name recognition. Name recognition translates to votes?
The run-up to the Dem primary gives me flashbacks to my days working in a mental hospital.
Loved the comment from the guy who wanted to know if Wilson’s proposal also included making fun of the President of the United States.
Huh. People who, historically, have created more wealth, create more wealth.
Unless the article is referring to those who have acquired their wealth through political connections. Considering that the type of person who writes this dreck usually hopes to be one of those one day, I doubt it.
They don’t see it as wealth creation, but as a zero sum game.

I thought the EU council president’s motto was “Keep having votes until we get the result we want, then cite the sacredness of democracy.” Or something like that anyway.
Hasn’t Trump moved power away from the federal government in many ways? It’s “progressives” who always want every single thing done by the president (when it’s their president in power, of course).
Kind of like how the Democrats want to remove a sitting president on some discredited conspiracy theory about Russian collusion?
Damn near every media outlet has turned into the Anti-Trump Network. If he’s a strongman dictator who hates media criticism, he’s doing a pretty lousy job. Plus, last I checked, it wasn’t right-wing mobs out there hospitalizing journalists who criticize them.
The whole article is a lot of progjection. Also blathering about the “liberal world order” while in other articles bemoaning income inequality and privileged white men.

“Thanks, HGTV: Americans VASTLY Overestimate the Gay Population in U.S., Gallup Finds
U.S. adults estimate that nearly one in four Americans (23.6%) are gay or lesbian. Gallup has previously found that Americans have greatly overestimated the U.S. gay population, recording similar average estimates of 24.6% in 2011 and 23.2% in 2015. In each of the three polls in which Gallup has asked this question, a majority of Americans estimated this population to be 20% or greater.
Americans’ estimate of the proportion of gay people in the U.S. is more than five times Gallup’s more encompassing 2017 estimate that 4.5% of Americans are LGBT, based on respondents’ self-identification as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.”

The look on the writers face when they think they’ve been saved only to be fired and replaced by the Glibs regulars. “I’m being replaced by a OMWC? What the hell is that!?”
“this is literally the “MORE ? FEMALE ? DRONE ? PILOTS” meme, i cannot breathe”

Have a Snickers, June. Libertarians have been solidly against this shit since before you were born.
Pope: just the TEC-9s. She was proportionately endowed, which is all I really care for. Most of Q’s nsfw ladies don’t do much for me.
Proportionately? Proportionally?
Just say stacked.

My wife’s grandfather passed away over a year ago and the lawyers are _almost_ done with probate. In New York, probate lawyers apparently are paid via a commission:
• 5% of the first $100,000
• 4% of the next $200,000
• 3% the next $700,000
• 2.5% of the next $4 Million
• 2% of the rest of the value of the estate
That seems quite generous to themselves. That’s around $35k on million dollar estate, even if that’s just all sitting in a Vanguard account. I’m going to guess those amounts were set and not indexed to inflation.
These guys have taken a year – it’s about 8 savings accounts (all with the same institution), 2 checking accounts (same) and, maybe(?) a life insurance account.
Good times.
This is why all my savings and investments are going toward buying me the most bitching mausoleum I can afford.
So far that covers the pine box I’ll be cremated in.
Pine box? Lookit Rockefeller over here. It’s Potter’s Field if I’m lucky.
My plan is to decompose in my apartment until the smell compels my neighbors to complain to the Buildings management.
That’s what my buddy Norman says, “Once you stink bad enough someone’s going to bury you”.
That’s why everything of value that we own is now in a trust. Probate lawyers can suck my dick.
Mrs. Hobbit was recipient of an inheritance several years ago. The value of the estate was around $3M and wifey was due to get 1/8th. The big winner in the estate was the lawyers who pulled in ~$100k in fees. We wound up with a little over $20k. Found money and all but could have been much greater.
Who did the math? 1/8th of net $2.9 million should have been around $360,000.
Citizenship question will not be on the 2020 census:

For such a fighter Trump seems to give up the ghost rather easily.
Is he a “fighter” beyond just insulting his opponents?
He appears to be for some things, for others he seems to inexplicably fold like a lawn chair, see “troops out of Syria” and this.
He’s transactional, not ideological. If he thinks he can’t win fight, he pivots to something else.
Yes
LOL OFFS
I don’t trust anyone in Cuomo’s admin to not “help” the illegals register to vote when they get their new drivers licenses, either.
He’s Constitutionally required to hold a census every ten years. The realities of getting everything ready for a census of 330 million people means that the printers are already pumping out the paperwork. Time killed whatever chance he had.
I don’t know, I was talking with my wife about this. She was absolutely aghast at the idea in no small part because Trump, but I tend to agree that it’s at least not a hill worth dying on if not a pointless gesture. Illegals won’t self-identify. Maybe it affects House of Reps apportionment, but it doesn’t impact illegal voting one way or another, which is the real issue there. Even if you had the question, the census is anonymous and I’m going to guess that the people administering the surveys won’t be granted law enforcement powers.
I can’t get worked up over this. I’m paranoid enough to avoid the census. I can’t imagine illegals are chomping at the bit to answer gov’t questionnaires
I’ll do the same thing next time that I’ve done since 1980: write with a Sharpie the number of people living in the house and cram the thing into the envelope. “How many bathrooms do you have?” “45 motherfucker. Prove me wrong”
One of the first nationwide projects of the libertarian movement was Society for Individual Liberty’s “Say No to the Census” back in 1970.
The project got a front page column in the Wall Street Journal, among other media coverage. Only one participant, from Hawaii, got fined for refusing to give more than headcount info.
Hope we have some good posts coming. Caught a summer cold and took the day off. Summer colds are the worst. 90% sure that co worker X gave it to me. Stay home when you have something contagious, lady.
I feel your pain.
I woke this morning to some sinus stuff, which I attributed to likely falling asleep drunk and sleeping with my mouth open. It didnt get better during the course of the day, and now there’s smoldering embers beneath my nose.
I blame people at Kroger.
How many spiders do you think you ate whilst sleeping.
Apparently that was bullshit made up by Snopes.
Oh, thank Jesus. That shit has bothered me for years.
To clarify: Snopes debunked it but the article that they debunked does not exist:

How many spiders do you think you ate whilst sleeping.
Zero. I wear a C-PAP mask.
Passing out drunk, falling asleep drunk. Is there a difference? Throat on fuego and the sweats. Didn’t figure out the sweats were from getting the cold because it’s been insanely humid for the past few days.
Stay home when you have something contagious, lady
Maybe you could just not sexually assault the poor women working in your office? Or at least wrap it up before assaulting them?
The Tour de France starts in a few days. I hope no one politicizes it….oh wait.
