Tomorrow I have a big job interview with a Swiss multi-national corporation. So today was supposed to be a nice calm day of preparation. Instead my idiot neighbor who just moved out here from the city hired a crew to chop down every single old-growth tree between our houses.
Now it’s his property and he should be able to do as he pleases – but to paraphrase Trump – go back to the city if you hate trees. And I really didn’t want a direct view into his bedroom and vice versa. When this neighborhood was constructed, the town leaned hard on the contractor to preserve as many old trees as possible – if they didn’t get permits, the town will take a big crap on him and the tree company.
Either way, he sure didn’t make any friends in his new neighborhood and probably took a bite out of my property value. It’s fucking mess out there.

These agreements reveal that James Comey’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Loretta Lynch’s Department of Justice (DOJ) granted immunity to Hillary Clinton’s aids and lawyers, Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson, from prosecution for anything found on their laptops violating multiple felony criminal statutes governing the mishandling of classified information and/or the removal or destruction of records, including Espionage Act provisions. Further, the DOJ and FBI also agreed to evade the statutory requirements of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by purporting to deem the contents of the laptops as not under DOJ or FBI “custody or control.”
These laptops were critical to any meaningful investigation of Hillary Clinton’s handling of classified emails and records. According to the DOJ Inspector General, who identified these as the “culling laptops,” “[a]ll 62,320 emails pulled from the Clinton servers were stored at one time on these laptops.” Having taken control of these laptops, agreeing to severely limit its searches, agreeing to unlawfully shield the laptops from FOIA, then agreeing to dispose of the laptops, it appears the Comey FBI and Lynch DOJ did everything in their power to protect Clinton’s senior aids and lawyers from both criminal liability and public scrutiny.
While these immunity agreements and related news have been publicly discussed to some extent, the ACLJ has now obtained the actual documents so the public may see and judge them accordingly.

I have been cutting my own and my sons hair for years now. A 75 dollar set of clippers and a bit of practice and I haven’t paid for a haircut since, except for my wife’s. I’m not going to attempt that. The consequences of failure are too great.
Yeah, I hear you bro. My wife will spend a lot on her hair. I mean it makes her happy. Me? Fuck it, I tell her just clipper cut it and in 5 minutes we’re done. But she won’t do it. Instead I have to sit still for 30 minutes while she meticulously goes into fine detail. She’s good, I get compliments and all, but again, if it makes her happy, it’s all good.

Yeah, I started cutting my own hair in grad school because it took too long to go wait for a haircut and my hair was getting unruly. I have paid for exactly 1 haircut since 1990, and that one turned out pretty crappy. My clippers cost $15 on clearance from Costco. Well, $30 because I bought a second set when they went on clearance again.
I try to do the kids hair, but I have to do it when the wife isn’t looking. Like most wives, she’s convinced that her husband can’t do it, all evidence to the contrary. But I’ll be damned if I’m forking over $30 for someone to spend 5 minutes trimming the split ends on my daughter’s long hair. It takes all of 2 minutes when they are in the shower to just clean it up a little bit, and she never notices. For some odd reason she hasn’t wondered why the girls only get 1 haircut per year, yet their hair stays the same the whole time.

I wrote this just as the morning links conversation was dying, so I thought I’d post it here for people’s edification:

Being a MA resident who recently moved from an ultra-progressive, ultra-well-educated suburb of Boston to a rural more conservative hick town in central MA, I have some observations on the whole Warren thing [Warren being less popular in MA than in the rest of the country].
First, there is a massive cultural divide within MA. The central part of the state is literally a sort of mini fly-over-country. It’s where a significant portion of the heavy industry and transportation services that move goods to the population centers of the state reside. The people here are not conservative catholics who fear women being in power.
They are, however, people who are trying to run businesses that stay profitable despite ever-increasing regulations emanating from Boston. Much of the rules coming from Boston are ridiculous ones that stroke the emotions of suburban voters who have no clue how the chicken breasts get to the supermarket shelves but have very strong opinions about ‘factory farming’, and who have no idea how electricity gets into their homes but have strong opinions on sustainibility and price-gouging.
I have many former high-school classmates who adore Elizabeth Warren. They all, to a man or woman, are highly educated on paper, but demonstrate a very superficial understanding of the world. They know Mussolini was bad and gave speeches, but have no idea what policies Mussolini advocated for or implemented. Frequently they resent the fact that they are not in charge. They are stuck in middling careers typically in law, journalism or the arts, and while they live comfortably, they cannot afford the lavish lifestyle their parents did. And they resent their powerlessness. They like Elizabeth Warren because she tells them that their difficulties are not their fault. It’s the fault of evil corporations and republicans and the uneducated masses. And when Elizabeth Warren is in charge, there will be all sorts of opportunities for the under-recognized over-credentialed children of privilege to man the various bureaus and regulatory offices that she will put in charge of everything. She is their salvation.
Meanwhile here in drive-through-country you have people who recognize that the elites are coming up with stupid policies and are trying to soldier on despite them. They are friendly people. They aren’t racist. They are patriotic. They often struggle to make ends meet. They are the sort of people who find the weekly car show put on by the local VFW chapter, where the same cars are paraded, and the same MC gets up and makes announcements and sings a few tunes a pleasurable experience rather than one that should be looked down on with contempt.
The reason why these people don’t like Elizabeth Warren very much is they recognize what she is, an angry fascist who would gladly deprive them of their livelihood and lock them up in jail if they protested. They recognize her as a fraud and grifter. It’s not her vagina that bothers them. It’s her nastiness, her self-serving behavior, and her hostility to their livelihoods, property and their families.
If the progressive movement has any principle that it is tied to, it is this: they truly believe that they are the smartest people in the room, and if they were placed in charge, they could make the world a much better place than it is now. They have lots of policy ideas that they wish to implement. Many of these policies have been tried before or are in place right now, and they are or didn’t work! They cannot admit this. Nor can they admit that the people who disagree with them might be right. Because if they did admit their ideas don’t always work, or that non-progressives might be right about something, that would undermine their organizing principle. So they come up with rationalizations that allow them to dismiss their failures or their critics without actually considering what was said or what happened.
Hence all these articles trying to progsplain away why the more interaction a non-progressive has with Warren or her ideas, the less likely the non-progressive is to say they like her or vote for her in a voting booth.

Yeah, my daughter spent a lot of time as a velociraptor after watching Jurassic World. Her little sister usually transforms into a kitty after showers. She didn’t need a movie to discover her inner kitten.
The velociraptor wonders about being a boy sometimes – because she sees boys wearing boy clothes and doing boy stuff like wrestling and playing baseball. She wouldn’t be caught dead in a dress. They couldn’t be more different. So I know from personal experience that they come out how they come out. It ain’t your parenting. If you try to push them into conformity (with anything, including your Trans-positive idea of his/her identity) you are just going to create problems, including a heaping pile of resentment. If you listen and are loving and supportive, they’ll figure it out just fine. You don’t need to rush out and figure it out for them.
Now for the big reveal for those parents who think they have to determine that their kid is trans by age 5 … the velociraptor recently discovered a bikini top that came with her swim shirt and bottoms.
