Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! And what a glorious morning it always is as we were treated with a fourth episode of The Dems! People are coming to the realization that Biden is an old buffoon, Obama sucked, and Harris is a dirty cop.
IG Horowitz referred Comey for prosecution, but DOJ prosecutors have decided to decline. According to Solomon’s sources, they didn’t want their first case about the Russian investigation appear to be petty and vindictive. Comey is still under investigation for his role in the origins of the investigation and potential FISA abuse.
The future will be nothing but the Mormons in the West and the Amish in the East.
Mario Lopez gets outrage mobbed for saying that it’s dangerous to let young children decide their gender. Don’t apologize Mario, they’ll never forgive you anyway.
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
Hi, Banjos!
Cheater.
Mornin’
Mornin’ Banjos.
Second cheater is still first loser!
Mornin’
Not sure if this got linked before, I’ve been out of it.
But for all its business challenges, Gilette fails to mention marketting misteps when excusing an Eight Billion Dollar loss.
Either they saw it coming and thought that insulting their customers would fix it, or they’re grasping at straws to blame anything but their ideology. Either way is a bad look for the company.
They might have been losing to Dollar shave club and others, but this loss seems A little bigger than that.
They can’t admit failure.
This is what happens when you allow the HR monkeys to gain access to the levers of power. Proctor and Gamble should nuke that division from orbit.
It is a marketing success to trigger the neanderthals. This is the purpose of business, after all
I thought it was to provide us with jobs? I mean, we need jobs and they have them. They should give us more money too. They have plenty and we’d be better off if we had it, right?
Morning Banjos, BTW.
Makes no sense. Neanderthals are supposed to be hairy, knuckle-dragging troglodytes that could use some Homo-scaping.
Hey, I resemble that remark…
Hey Ozy! Enjoyed your intro the other night!
I forget if I said it in your article, but you’re a great writer. Looking forward to the rest of your series.
Thanks, Lack, that’s very kind of you. I’m editing next week’s later today on a flight back home.
And Festus, I flew with a guy whose callsign was the same name. I’m guessing yours doesn’t have the same meaning his did. At least… I hope not. (It’s too awful and scatalogical to explain publicly, so don’t ask). Understand this, however, no pilot EVER gets a cool callsign like “Maverick” or “Viper” – it’s all “Snotty,” “Stinky,” “The Crippler,” and the like (all of those are real, btw).
When I was a young’un watching Top Gun on VHS, I noticed that the real pilots in the credits had silly callsigns.
Well, all the good ones were clearly taken early on, so they’ve got the dregs left now.
Nah. I stole my handle from one of my cats. When I adopted him he was a bedraggled, skinny little thing with an eye infection that happened to take a shine to me. I was gonna name him “Sidekick” but then I remembered all of those old Gunsmoke episodes that we used to watch and he became Festus. He still won’t leave my side and he’s been my pal for eleven years now.
Yeah, that’s waaaayyy better (and cleaner) than my old combat crew’s name origins. Best pilot I ever flew with, hands of velvet and Steve McQueen cool, but he had a penchant for needing to go to the bathroom – fairly regularly – in the middle of routine training flights. Not awful in helos because we could land just about anywhere, but the long-running mystery was the lack of TP in the helicopter. (Eventually solved when I saw that most of his green tee-shirts were missing the sleeves.) Yes, completely true story.
What was that other word that rhymes with “woke”?
Joke? Smoke? Toke? Yoke? Croak? Polk?
Big tokes get woke!
Caution: “woke and toke” bears no similarity to “wake and bake”.
Looks like we got ourselves a wordsmith!
My expectation having had to do this kind of analysis in a past life is the decline has been known and they assumed the “woke ad” campaign would generate some buzz with the additional sales offsetting the outrage.
I’m not buying another Gillette product, but I don’t think boycotts are really driving the decline. It’s a category decline.
But it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling regardless.
They literally claimed that the post-release shitstorm was proof of how great the ad (and ad company) was.
So, not only failing to correct the loss of customers, but cementing or worstening it, but making sure everyone knows your brand is toxic is a ‘success’?
I believe they were relying on the truism “there is no such thing as bad publicity.”
The decline’s in P&G’s men’s grooming lines or in men’s grooming sales across the industry? I’d believe the former more readily than the latter, just anecdotally.
I think the overall category in the US is stagnant. Likely globally as well.
Within P&G the category was likely in decline due to competition.
That’s my off the cuff analysis. I’m sure the street has actual category data. In the old days in developing markets folks longed for the both the cachet of something western and “quality” of western consumer brands compared to local. Now everyone and everything is special. So global western brands are struggling.
Agreed.
I’m sure you’re right that the primary cause is competition in a stagnant market. But to counter that by insulting your customers with a campaign practically designed to drive them into the arms of said competitors seems slightly insane.
That’s exactly right. They saw they were fucked and grasped on to wokeness out of desperation. It wasn’t “get woke, go broke”. More like “Even woke won’t stop broke”.
“As long as we’re goin’ broke, might as well get woke”?
Basically. New Coke Woke.
Solid.
I tried the walmart brand 5 blade razor.
It isn’t as good as Gillette’s uber-expensive blades.
But it is still plenty good enough at a tiny fraction of the price. So I haven’t bought their blades in years. (OK, to be fair I gave them up long before that – $4 for a razor is nuts. But the new generic 5 blade razors are actually nice, as opposed to generic 2 blade razors of the past.)
I’ll have to give that one a shot. I tried Kroger after my existing stock ran out and it was definitely subpar. I only really use a razor to keep the neck beard away so one cartridge lasts a while.
I’ve been using de safety razors for about 10 years. the blades cost less than a nickle each. The only real investment is in a good quality brush, but I made my own…
Oh I remember sitting in a meeting with the shaving buyer for Walmart a few years ago. A P&G patent for their latest razor was expiring and the buyer was introducing a comparable private labor razor.
He was giddy.
Gilette fails to mention marketting misteps
The most recent Gilette ad I’ve seen seemed like an over-correction to that kerfuffle (although it was running in front of an NRO video, so it might not have been an over-correction but just targeted advertising): it was starring a straight, white, male, soldier, family man and was basically glorifying fulfilling one’s duty to family and country, and smelling good while doing it (it was a deodorant ad).
“The charge was also driven by more competition over the past three years and a shrinking market for blades and razors as consumers in developed markets shave less frequently.”
So, millenials don’t shave.
I have a bunch of P&G stock and it’s been going through the roof for the last six months. I feel like going to a shareholders’ meeting to voice displeasure with the wokeness.
Do it.
Every other division in the company appears to be doing well, it’s Gilette that’s failing.
Rather than change their business model to compete with the upstarts, they change their marketing message to insult their legacy customers.
Nice.
The future will be nothing but the Mormons in the West and the Amish in the East.
Until we are invaded by Islamists from the middle-east.
I too like projecting current things hundreds of years in the future.
Worry not, climate change will have killed us all by then. Except the Mormons probably.
:First pump: yes!
You crazy preppers…
I get the feeling the Amish are slightly better prepared, since most/many are farmers and relatively self sufficient already.
But how many guns do they have? Also high tech may be essential
They own guns. The only problem for them could be the very non violent stance they take. In a true SHTF scenario I would think reliance on complicated supply chains and high tech could be detrimental.
complicated supply chains sure, a problem. high tech depends on the tech I assume but I do not see the low tech post apocalypse happening.
If they are the ones with the tools, livestock, and knowledge to be self-sufficient with 18th Century technology – guys like me will be their hired security teams after the collapse.
Shoot the raiders, English, and they’ll be a hot meal in it for you.
High tech is never essential. Humans lived tens of thousands of years without it. However, it is fun.
Humans lived tens of thousands of years without it when no one had it. Not when some have it and some don’t
Snopes rates this mostly true. Amish were putting on a roof across from work a few days ago. Did you know gas powered chop saws are a thing?
If present-day trends continue for centuries, the earth will turn into a massive ball of human flesh. A few millennia more, Ansley Coale, of Princeton, calculates, and that ball of flesh will be expanding outward at the speed of light. But he sees little point in the exercise of projecting lines on a graph out to their absurdly horrible conclusion. “If you had asked someone in 1890 about today’s population,” Coale explains, “he’d say, ‘There’s no way the United States can support two hundred and fifty million people. Where are they going to pasture all their horses?”‘
Orgy Planet ftw
sure, till the lifelong chafing sets in.
Would be interesting if more Amish started to vote along with that pop growth.
http://amishamerica.com/do-amish-vote/
Seems like they have it figured out that voting doesn’t matter.
“Until we are invaded by Islamists from the middle-east.”
We don’t call it invading anymore, we call it immigrating or seeking asylum.
Boofing.
I laughed!
Then I had that little tickle of indignation.
If Trump can figure out how to call back those memories, he’s in for a second term. Like most people, I had let that episode slink away into the background.
I have a friend who just posted “bff” with a screenshot of Warren.
Gross.
ewww
Another friend has historically held a very odd crush on Biden?
The fuck? I don’t know if that’s still true.
So he had Indian Fever?
I didn’t think anyone was actually enthusiastic about Biden. I figured he was someone to be put up with.
Some “friend”. I try not to let politics intrude on my day-to-day but people can be insufferable. I just grit my dentures and go on with what I was already doing albeit in a darker frame of mind.
The Biden one i can manage to have a discussion with. It’s not always great, but she isn’t insufferable.
The Warren one has been lost to academia.
I remain a cipher to the people that I work around. They’ll never hear a single political utterance from me. It’s a heavily union shop and knee-jerk woke.
At work, no one will know
“At Work Nobody Can Hear You Scream!”
“It’s a heavily union shop…”
*shudders*
Oh yeah. No one will even deign to pick up a rubber band off the floor when they drop it. “Not in the contract!” I’m astonished that they don’t have Union reps in the washrooms making sure that someone isn’t inconvenienced by a pube on the toilet seat. I exaggerate, a little.
Props to you man. I couldn’t work with that. I would be a workplace shooter after a few months.
If anyone is interested, I had to watch this as part of my master’s program – Final Offer.
You can skip to about 9:00 minutes where it’s gets unbelievable.
And just think – that’s how the Left wants all private companies to operate.
former friend surely
I don’t speak Indian. What does it mean?
I was guessing “Barf”
My favorite aunt posted an old picture of her with Michael Moore the other day. It made me sad.
The picture of her and Sanders together looks like 2 prunes.

Everything about Liz Warren reminds me on a visceral level of a crass, cranky, nagging schoolteacher who bosses you around and never misses a chance to remind you how fortunate you are to have such a benefactor as her. All of K-12 was a horrid experience for me, so I find her particularly revolting.
… And her positions fucking suck, so it’s not like I’m making this decision based entirely on emotion.
they didn’t want their first case about the Russian investigation appear to be petty and vindictive
Isn’t “petty and vindictive” Trump’s m.o.?
“Petty and vindictive” is deep in the DNA of all law enforcement and prosecutors. It’s what they do.
Mario Lopez gets outrage mobbed for saying that it’s dangerous to let young children decide their gender. Don’t apologize Mario, it they’ll never forgive you anyway. – I find it strange that so many people keep trying to apologize to appease the mob who don’t care anyway. All they want is a public shaming and then they move on
exactly – raise your middle fingers, smile, and give both barrels to the mob.
Even better, blow the gun smoke off those six shooters and give them a double “OK” sign.
I hope the DOJ is declining to prosecute on this case, instead using Comey to flip and build a larger case against bigger fish, but I’m ready to be disappointed. He brought FBI files to his fucking house, and when turning them over later didn’t say he had leaked them. Meanwhile there’s a guy in prison for having inside photos of a nuclear sub on his phone…which he never shared.
Im not convinced, but I hope this does start to end with some real trails.
Trial. Damn keyboard.
Trails, trials, tribulations…

I saw a clip of Tulsi skewering her. If Team Blue actually believed many of the things they claimed, Tulsi would be the new front-runner.
Was that sweat or did she oil her tits last night?
I’m not the only ogler! No cleavage though. Sad.

Masturbatorium. This is a classy website.
Question for the tech savvy:
We took family portraits last November. Just now I went to JC Penny’s website to download them. I clicked the download button and got this:
WTF? Is someone driving across town to grab the drive they are on? I’m confused why it wouldn’t be instantaneous. It has something to do with them being the hi-res versions. The “web-sized” pictures are available immediately. And idea why the long delay?
Best guess, the full rez versions are stored in a data warehousing system that is a lot of cheap and slow disk, and requests are passed to it via batch jobs rather than a transactional system.
See, for example: https://aws.amazon.com/glacier/

B. Thanks guys. Didn’t realize that was a thing.
It’s crazy that she isn’t more popular, and I wonder if she’s going to see a surge after these debates. If I were Tom Perez (and thank God I’m not) I’d be doing everything in my power to make her the face of the Democratic Party. For Christ’s sake, she’s an attractive, anti-war veteran with reliably Progressive stances on nearly every topic who has crossover appeal! What more could you possibly want?
Also; female and non-white. And from the little I’ve seen, well spoken.
She’s not white? I lose track of who counts as what anymore.

And thank you for noticing, sir!
Hi everyone. Sorry I’m not commenting on the links. I just wanted to drop in and let you all know that I’m still alive. I managed to find a new job (with a ~50% raise over the shitty one that fired me!), and am just crazy busy right now. I’m still trying to figure my schedule out, but I’d love to get back to shitpos—providing insightful commentary on here. Hopefully soon.
Fuck off, Tulpa!
Congrats on the new job.
Thanks. It was getting pretty down to the wire in terms of being able to pay the bills.
Be careful with that raise. You know the wealth taxers just about came.
Boy don’t I know it. With my luck the whole economy is going to collapse in the next 3 months anyway. They gotta destroy it to keep Orange Hitler from getting re-elected.
Mine too. I got a much smaller raise with my new job, but I’m hoping to get a few more assets before the collapse.
I can’t jump on the acceleration train just yet.
Good job, boys. The market is always looking for competent people
Awesome, brah.
I started my new this week as well, which has many good features but the best of which is that it’s on second shift. I fucking love rolling out of bed at 10 AM, going out for my jog before it gets super hot, cooking a giant meal, and spending the rest of the afternoon lounging around. I think my goal in life is to never work first shift again.
Regarding Obama’s ‘legacy’ getting attacked, life comes at you fast, huh Barry? Already not woke enough. I wonder if people remember how he was against same sex marriage.
The adulation of Obama was one of the more sickening things I’ve seen – politically speaking
Yep. I was an early Socialist that became a Centrist for about 25 years but the fawning pushed me further and further toward the dark side. So here we are and here I am. Fuck that guy.
. I was an early Socialist – kick this guy out of the club
Don’t be cruel, one of these years, his former comrades might come by with an ice ax.
No worries. They were mostly family and they are all dead or dead to me.
It’s kabuki. I think Biden came out of this exactly where he wanted to be. The desire to beat Trump is more powerful than the desire to do the crazy shit the progs are pushing among the average team blue voter.
That’s how i felt before, but I’m not so sure of his chances now. Iirc, his polling has been going down and he hasn’t been knocking out the small fry and picking up their support. Just reading the transcripts of him speaking is painful, he’s ancient, and dems are all about appearances. I’m just not sure who can pick up his support, not a lot of moderates poised to strike.
It’s still early – unless something major happens, I’ll give Biden the nod for picking up the nomination. He’ll be the (tired old) knight on the (bedraggled) white horse, rushing in to save us from Trump; and bring us back to the good ol’ Obama days.
Relying on Falstaff to come riding in on his horse is laughable.
After last night I would have said no way Biden gets the nom. The frail old man on that stage is going to be eaten alive by Trump. If your one goal is to beat Trump then you have to nominate anyone but Biden cause there is no way someone who couldn’t handle those attacks by Booker is gonna beat Trump.
After this morning I think you are right, he is a shoe in for the nomination because of this…
https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/7/31/20749497/2020-democratic-debates-presidential-election-winners-losers-night-two
Somehow Vox has Biden coming out of the debate as a winner, they only possible way to come to that conclusion is that you have received marching orders to spin any outcome as a victory for Biden and if Vox is getting those marching orders then the fix is in and Biden would have to have a major stumble to not get the nomination.
Good find. The “marching orders” thing is a great indicator.
I guess they’re leery to have what happened with Sanders happen again. That is the whole point of the for-show debates with 50 candidates so no one can accuse the DNC of picking winners, and then the talking points presenting Biden as doing great after (regardless of performance, as you point out). I just don’t know how much pull these orgs really have, people can easily find clips of him sounding like a doofus and supporters of other candidates will be gleefully sharing those to friends and family. They tried this strategy in the general election last go-round and that was with someone who would have been ‘historic’. There is nothing historic about tired old Biden, I think they’ve got an uphill battle if that is their plan.
Bernie and Warren are going to split the prog wing. Biden’s threat right now is Kamala and she got exposed big time. The corporate money will pour into Biden once the choice becomes clearer as the nobodies drop out or become irrelevant. I see Biden as swooping in at the end and being the only choice left. I definitely could be wrong given how crazy the race has been so far. Fun times ahead.
Exactamundo. From what I saw, Biden looked like the only professional politician on the stage. He looked old, sure, but he looked like the sane, rational, middle-of-the-road guy who actually knows how government works. My wife, who claims that I don’t like Warren because she’s a woman, actually said (before she could stop herself) in response to Harris, “She just looks like a bitch, like a petty, nervous, vindictive bitch.”
Harris is one of those people that you saw lots of flattering still photos of and got an impression that she is much better looking than she really is. Then when you see her live on video, you realize she isn’t that good looking. (Other examples of this are Paris Hilton and Madonna).
Watching her in split screen next to Tulsi is a really, really bad look for her.
Exactly. Not Biden, Bernie or Warren. They are last year’s model. Fresh ideas (regardless of validity) need fresh faces.
In Obama’s defense, he was too lazy to pay attention to issues and let other people write his platform.
He actually wrote the first draft, but it just went
mememememememeeeeee!
The staffers had to go in and punch it up a bit.
Question about the “You’re commenting too fast” error messages.
Does getting the message reset the timer for being able to post again? Because it seems to me that whenever I get that, the time before I’m able to comment again is rather long, and variable in duration.
For me more of a problem is if I post several messages in a short time I get a server error and no longer can post anything a few minutes.
It means you are most definitely a Rooshian troll, Tulpa.
That doesn’t answer the question asked.
Tulpavich?
Mmm… Veruca Salt!
Good morning, everyone! Let’s make it a great day and remember : get them before they get you!
Mornin’
I saw Veruca Salt in Indianapolis in 1995. They made it a point to let us know what an uncool shithole Indianapolis is, and how good of them it was to drive down from awesome Chicago to entertain us.

I didn’t think you had to sign the ticket? I thought they just gave it to you anyways and if you failed to pay they issued a warrant. I’m pretty sure that’s how it is in Ohio. He needs a taser to take down an I overweight 65 yo woman? If I worked with him, he’d never hear the end of that. Tough old broad. Dumb, but tough.
Not sure how it is in Oklahoma, but I’m guessing you have to acknowledge receipt. Not sure why bodycam video wouldn’t be sufficient evidence of being served.

OMWC goes old school
So for who is not following the Taleb IQ twitter war, it got to the everyone who disagrees is a neo-nazi phase.
The current running debate weather measurement error straightens or weakens correlation. Also is quilette a new-nazi publication.
is IQ a thing or not? Who cares really…
as far as I can tell, IQ is a measure that has some significant correlation to General intelligence. Probably useful in some contexts as general intelligence is strongly associated with life success.
It also suggests certain potential explanations for the divergence in outcomes amongst. .. groups that doesn’t necessarily involve discrimination, and this would preclude certain interventions favored by statists.
Do what now? I can’t predict who would be calling whom a neo-nazi in this context.
The take I’ve heard on IQ that I tend to agree with is that IQ tests must in some regard be influenced by the people writing the questions, and so if you share a similar background you’ll have an advantage. This is what’s typically used to discount them, the argument being that the cultural bias of the test disadvantages otherwise intelligent people from different cultural backgrounds. However, and this is a big however, if you accept IQ as a test that tries to measure intelligence within the context of the environment of the test, it’s reasonably valid for what it is. In other words, the same disadvantages one might experience as a result of cultural difference in taking the test will be the same you experience in the society that originates the test.
That would also imply that Asians are even smarter than IQ testing results show. Could be true, just making that observation. There are some interesting results regarding setting a single race-blind IQ level for retardation (I think it was 60). Basically Whites with a 60 (?) IQ could not function in society/effectively interact with others while blacks with an IQ of 60 (?) seemed to be able to handle social situations. Forget where I read that, so no source.
Psychology, particularly psychometry, and sociology are too politically laden to ever allow actual science. There are manifestly differences between individuals in terms of any metric you pick. Equally manifestly genetics are an important factor. That means there will, not may, but will be differences between populations with different heritages. No matter what those differences are someone will try to use them as an argument for the supremacy of one group or another, and someone else will decry any study or mention of them as racist. The proper study of man may be man, but unfortunately what that study mostly shows is that we are more likely to rationalize than to reason, and that we kill anyone who dares to bring us truth.
That is my understanding as well. Makes it all the more impressive how far we’ve come.
This was a very good critique of IQ tests 50 years ago.
My own feeling is that an IQ test isn’t very valuable. Once you’ve got the information, what do you do with it?
I can’t predict who would be calling whom a neo-nazi in this context
Taleb and his fans are calling anyone who believes IQ tests are not total bullshit nazis.
the idea is you want to imply some people are smarter aka better than other and trying to order people in a hierarchy is nazi.
I honestly find it hard to form an opinion. I agree with Taleeb on some things, disagree on others but the guy is way to in love with his own intellect. makes him blind to his biases and mistakes imo
the funny thing this only started when some tests showed levantines – the superior race according to Taleeb – have lower average iq than some other group
“These candidates are attacking Barack Obama’s policy positions more than Donald Trump,” Scarborough, a former GOP congressman who left the Republican Party to become an independent, said on Twitter. “That is politically stupid and crazy.”
Yea, there is no need to compare and contrast the former admins policies, especially where they may be similar therefor thinking critically and avoiding hypocrisy. The important thing is to attack Bad Orange Man.

“Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye should be her campaign theme song.
Not gonna lie, if she did that, I’d vote for her.
I am beginning to think Williamson might be a good bet for the pinkos. Trump taking brutal swings at her would look like dirty pool. If he ends up ringing Booker or Biden’s or Harris’ bell everyone would cheer. Williamson, not so much. He would have to back off.
Trump, back off? Surely you jest.
The other nice thing about a Williamson presidency would be that she is too crazy to get around to actually implementing much of anything. If the GOP captured Congress and I didn’t have to worry about the Squad and Co sending up crazy bills, that her being President and nothing getting done would be a good thing.
“I do know that,” Bernie barked. “I wrote the damn bill!”

https://vinepair.com/articles/20-worst-beer-trends-craft/
Lactose in IPAs. – sounds reasonable
I’m tired of breweries ignoring sexual harassment and sexism and treating it as ‘boys being boys.’ – that escalated a bit am not sure this qualifies as a trend, if true
I think ratings on apps and websites have taken some of the human element out of craft beer. – meh there are so many you need an idea
“Not enough minorities, blacks, and Hispanics drinking craft beer. – goddamn minorities keeping the wokeness insuficient
etc…
I would have gone with this horrible fad of using hops.

well there goes my marketing plan!
I’ve posted about my conflicted feelings about Tulsi on here before. I’m still on the fence as to whether she’d be a net gain or loss for liberty. That being said, damn am I happy with her for calling out Kamala Harris. She was spot on and I have to give credit where credit is due.
They all are a net loss for liberty. But some more negative than others
Tom Woods did a recent interview with Scott Horton, and they talked about how Gabbard isn’t even really that anti-war. She is only radical about it in comparison to her peers. Assuming that’s true, she’s really no better than the rest of them.
I listened to that, she’s still all-in on the WOT as long as it isn’t against other nation-states. It’s a better position than her peers but still not truly ‘anti-war.’ Even if she is just the tallest midget in the room, the Harris thing and co-sponsoring ‘audit the fed’ earned her some genuine respect from me. I guess it’s just refreshing to see someone on the left who’s a few shades off from totalitarian.
…and she’s hot.
That doesn’t hurt either….’would’ goes without saying
If we’re going to give Trump credit for some of the good things he’s done, I don’t feel the need for disclaimers when Tulsi does something good.
It’s not like there aren’t plenty of disclaimers when discussing Trump.
Disclaimers are boring regardless.
While I admit that I have likely given a disclaimer once or twice in the past, I will agree that yes, they are boring.
Warning – Many of the things I say are lies.
^This. I voted for Orangemanbad and will probably do so again, based on him not sucking on every single issue. He is not great on most, but he sucks less than the other choices. Tulsi sucks on different issues than Trump, but she also does not suck on every single issue so I’d have to weigh pros and cons with her. The other Ds all seem to be terrible across the board.
I really don’t get it. She’s a boiler plate lefty with mostly terrible ideas. Cute, but still evil and a fucking slaver.
It’s easy to stand out when, of all the slavemasters, you’d administer the fewest whippings. Like I said, I guess it’s just kind of refreshing to see a lefty who isn’t terrible on every single issue. I don’t want to see her as a president but I’d love to see her cosponsor some reforms with Massie, et al.
/Not saying she’d get my vote, not disagreeing about terrible ideas
“I mean you’ve got the first Indian-American candidate that is bright, articulate and clean and also happens to be great looking gal.”
I don’t think she’s Indian, just a Hindu. She’s Samoan and a Euro mutt.
Thanks for stepping on my Biden joke, Ruiner!
I didn’t see the quotes… damn. *shame*
Read this shit.
Well aware she’s awful on guns, and indeed almost all of her domestic policies, with the exception of criminal justice reform, and I’m still light-years away from a ‘Gabbard 2020″ sticker in my back window. Like I said, ‘tallest midget’
Best looking turd in the punchbowl
My own opinion (based upon a fair bit of time across the islands) is that this is a Hawaii-thing. I can’t come up with another explanation, especially for someone who was in the military and got to carry. But it’s a complete washout for me. Hot or not, gun-grabbers are a no-go.
/Not saying she’d get my vote, not disagreeing about terrible ideas
See what I mean about disclaimers? We should and do know this already, but we still have to say it. Not blaming you, Bob. I’ve done it myself. Wish it wasn’t felt to be necessary.
It seems to be necessary to clearly represent your position. Say something nice about Trump, you get accused of selling out to ‘own the libs.’ Say something nice about Gabbard, you get accused of tacitly supporting awful prog policies. Comes with the territory.
I’ve tried to do away with the disclaimers. Most people here are willing to understand the nuance you are coming from. And I try not to jump to unsupported conclusions about others beliefs.
/Not saying disclaimers are wrong
I guess my thing is you can just expect to do it in your next comment or you can get it over with right out of the gate,
How effective are they and what purpose do they serve? “I disagree with much of what Trump (or Tulsi) says, but…”
It’s pointless. Nuance is one thing, but I see someone like Tim Pool doing it over and over again with his, “I’m on the left, but…” It’s overused and looks manipulative at this point.
I don’t disagree. See, well, nearly every comment I’ve initiated so far in this thread, and if you don’t say “not all”, ‘generally’, IMO’, etc you inevitably get called out.
Bob, I don’t think I have a very large cock, but…
It’s almost like there are a bunch of pedants around here who love taking each other to task…..
Well, what else are we supposed to do? Let you get away with being inaccurate?
/gives up, goes back to lurking
Quitter!

Matt Groening’s totally stealing my moves, man.

Hah!
Love it!
I listen to Dave Smith’s podcast and he said if she can stop the wars then she can take the semiautomatic firearms and he would be ok with it.
I think it’s the first time I said “Fuck you Dave”, I cannot agree with that one.
That trade off is in no way rational, reasonable, proportional, nor acceptable.
Gotta say it, so … If you were the Yemeni getting a bombed dropped on your house, you’d think differently.
I understand that part, but if she bans all semi autos we’ll have a civil war here.
*Admittedly the odds of our constant state of war stopping and semi autos being 100% banned are about the same, no matter who is president.
Thanks, Ron. It’s a false dichotomy or a thought experiment depending on how you look at it.
I think its a way of signalling that you will sacrifice anything on domestic policy in order to shut down our foreign military adventurism. Which I disagree with, but I can see how somebody might think the tradeoff is worth it.
I can see why someone would accept that trade-off, but one very real concern is that she won’t actually end the wars. She wouldn’t be the first Democrat to run on ending wars but do the exact opposite once she’s sitting in the big chair.
Let me put it this way: I think a semi-auto ban has a better chance of happening than an end to the current wars.
Worse than that, what are the chances of undoing the damage of a semi-ban compared to the ability of another president to start new wars? I get where the people who prioritize the antiwar stance are coming from (human life is both sacred and invaluable) but it seems a bit shortsighted, and potentially naive if those benefits never materialize.
Legit point. If that were the tradeoff, I bet Dave would say, “No, that isn’t worth it.” We maybe reading more into Dave’s stance than he actually said.
I may be wrong, but it was really close to “If she ends the wars, she can have all the semi automatics.”
I actually said out loud “Fuck you Dave”, in my car.
I listened to the episode and am a long time listener. Same as the disclaimer discussion below, I understood what he meant. Body of work must count for something, right? If he thought that you’d get still get unending war AND a ban on semi-autos, I find it hard to believe he’d support that. Leaving Dave out of it, I certainly wouldn’t.
Overall his body of work is great.
This is the first time I had a serious disagreement with something he said.
It’s funny though that a self taught comedian is better at breaking down the debates and major issues than “real journalists”.
I’m an AnCap, so I fully admit my bias. I don’t normally fly the black and yellow around this camp of miniarchist miscreants, but you guys are the only tolerant people out there. 😉
I don’t see why not. I’m on the fence myself, half of minarchists would probably be anarchists, if you could convince them that a worse government wouldn’t spontaneously generate (not to imply doing so would be a small task).
I’ve said it before. I’m persuaded by the argument that even a small, limited govt will expand to become an oppressive govt over time. Others here aren’t. *Shrugs* Have enough in common at this point in history to not really care.
From my POV, nothing is forever. We had a decentish ~150 year run of being relatively minarchist. Successful experiments of either governmental system (or lack there of) are rare. An anarchist system would be a greater moral good from my POV, but I guess I worry that events could create the conditions for totalitarian control more quickly than if a minarchist system was emplaced given the same starting conditions.
Well, it is all academic as the chances of either minarchists or anarchists getting their way is infinitesimal and seems to shrink daily.
I know, but not to me.
I try to be logical about issues outside of sports, but with guns it’s more of a viceral “Fuck off slaver”, than almost any other issue.
Taxes are a close second.
I still consider that a logical response. Guns are a great measure of freedom.
Besides, the war thing is pointless. Congress has no interest in stopping the forever war.
It would be easier to get a majority for “Common Sense Gun Safety Measures”, than for “Making America Less Safe” by not being in a constant state of war.
Virtually every politician is a net loss for liberty.
Y”GABBARD: I want to bring the conversation back to the broken criminal justice system that is disproportionately negatively impacting black and brown people all across this country today”
I hate this refrain, at least she said people instead of ‘bodies’. Really gave it to Harris a little later in that exchange, again Biden sounds like the idiot he is.
Or POC. White is a color.
White is the only color. All other “races” are a homogeneous indistinguishable bunch of PoCs.

“The future will be nothing but the Mormons in the West and the Amish in the East.”
I can imagine worse futures.
“Amen,” said the Amish.
Seriously, though, I think a big chunk of the population being Amish would be awesome. Their wants? To be left the fuck alone to practice their Faith. Oh, the horror! It’s almost like they got the memo on why this chunk of dirt was settled by those wypipo – er, colonials.
Yes – when the IRS shows up for their cut, they get a dozen eggs and a goat. Try to fund a welfare state and military-industrial-complex with that.
How awesome would that be?!
Tax Man: Ahh, yes, Mr. Amos Lapp?
Lapp: The Elder or the Younger?
Tax Man: Uhhhhh… I’m here because our records show a shortage on your income taxes.
Lapp: Mmmm. Well, I told the last man we sent in three chickens, one goat, and two gallons of unpasteurized milk. And by our records, you’re getting the better of it by an extra quart of milk.
Tax Man: …..Ahhhhh…yeah….okay. Never mind. :backs off the porch:
There are some ultra-orthodox (((sects))) around here that are kind of notorious for soaking up tons of welfare.
I wonder if the Amish do that? They do seem more self-sufficient.
There are Hutterite colonies in Central and Southern Alberta that are (a) HUGE and (b) as close to utterly self-sufficient as anything I’ve ever seen. They mostly interact with others because they want to – there’s very little “have to” in their contacts.
I’m telling you, it’ll be a regular Amish Paradise

Sorry to go OT this soon but I got around to listening to:
http://www.thaddeusrussell.com/podcast/88
With Dave Smith and Nick Gillespie. This is old news that’s been discussed here already but damn do I have a new level of contempt for ‘The Jacket.’ Declaring you ‘”have been a professional libertarian for 25 years” is not a testament to your credibility you tool, it’s a testament to how you’ve sold your soul for 25 years and how you’ve been woefully ineffectual. You’re the Nick Gillespie of libertarians.
For those who would prefer a synopsis rather than listening; Nick Gillespie goes after Dave for his anti-abortion position and then Anarco-capitalism in general. He’s a snarky asshole that believes he owns ‘libertarianism’ and those that decent from the Koch/Cato/TOS are crypto-fascists.
They don’t miss us do they
Based on Nick’s comments it’s obvious that, to the degree they even noticed we left, they are glad we’re gone. It’s not hyperbolic to say that they really do think of progressives as more libertarian than those of us yokel types. It’s made plainly evident by the total contempt they have for Mises institute/Ron Paul, etc.
But they discovered David French though!
And the way he handled himself explains why he won’t interview Peterson. I get the feeling he thinks he’s beneath him regarding his opinions on post-modernism. My take is interview him and have it out. Get to the source and spare me passive-aggressive attacks from afar.
He has interviewed far less interesting people and topics.
It’s the passive-aggressive attacks that really got my blood-boiling. He’s such a little bitch. Pete Raymond (Mance Raider) gave an anecdote recently about how the first face to face interaction they had, They’d had a friendly exchange about Pete’s shoes online and he brought it up to Nick when he met him in person. Nick’s response was “Oh, is that what the Nazi’s are wearing these days?” What a cunt.
Dick move for sure.
I’ve known he was an obnoxious ass ever since he proclaimed his love for Lou Reed. That’s pure pretentious signaling that you’re with the “in” crowd, you’re cool, you’re hep, not like those other duds.
I’m sure he HATES the ‘at least Lou Reed is still alive’ running gag.
Which is PRECISELY why I do it.
In general, I like to poke that way.
50-somethings trying to be hip is embarrassing.
He wanted to interview me after ‘Chippergate. I said something like “maybe”. He never got back to me. *shrug*
It was pretty obvious for a few years that they had contempt for us. I am sure they are glad we are gone, and so are we.
The youtube was seen and discussed, we are to Gillespie fanclub after all
That drives me nuts. Obviously, being the only true libertarian, I own libertarianism.
“Nick Gillespie goes after Dave for his anti-abortion position ”
And they call us purists? Look this is what I upsets me most about the abortion debate in libertarianism. When people are unwilling to say it’s an open question and claim you must not be a true libertarian because you don’t agree with them.
That is exactly what Nick did and it’s bullshit. He did, correctly IMO, point out that it ultimately comes down to theology (or lack thereof). Some people may not believe in divinely bestowed natural rights and still arrive at an anti-abortion position but I would say they are the exception.
*looks around*
I am standing right here.
#metoo
#Ialso
If you believe that the unborn are human then you have to recognize that two sets of top order rights are in conflict. I won’t attack you if you conclude that the mother, having agency, trumps the fetus. However, I disagree. The mother, having agency, created the conflict and therefore I give greater weight to the right of the fetus, who had no role in creating the conflict of rights. Also the burden on the rights is less to the mother, the fetus loses everything if aborted,
Jarflax, I always have a hard time explaining my views on this, that is a great way to put it.
I’m about in the same boat. I believe that each individual has a divinely bestowed natural right to existence, but like all my theological beliefs, they don’t inform my opinion on policy. Just my own personal behavior and those I enforce on my family and in my church.
I don’t agree. Even at the “clump of cells” stage, we’re talking about a genetically unique organism that has the potential to develop into a human being, the same as a fetus in the 3rd trimester that can’t legally be aborted. No theology required.
See the discussion above about disclaimers……I didn’t say “the anti-abortion V pro-abortion position within libertariaism is universally divided between those who believe in theologically divined natural rights and those that don’t.” I’m just saying I would guess that’s the general trend.
Dr Nick is a snarky….He has a PhD AND a leather jacket! So there!
The whole “I don’t care about economics, the Mises Institute, it having a deep understanding of any issue, I just wanna live my life” is a poor cop-out for a supposed public thinker.
Not just economics but politics (foreign policy) too.
I wasn’t getting his point.
I guess who ever made up the joke of Reason wanting to be part of the cocktail party circuit was right.
A lot of us snickered and poked at them about it, but no, it was never really a joke.
What I got out of it is that Nick sees a way to live a weird life* with progs in charge, and that social attitudes (he calls them norms) are more important to him than laws. The people here who want to leave him alone, but maybe will shun him or others due to their life choices are worse than people who want to use the law on others.
In that way he really does want to ally with the progs. They both want to tear down the foundations of civilization (social norms). I don’t know if Nick is just willfully blind, stupid or evil, but the end game the progs are playing doesn’t revolve around leaving you alone, and his techno-optimism is increasingly unconvincing.
*I think he also doesn’t understand that living a truly religious and moral life is also a weird way to live nowadays, and that such people are starting to face the exact social stigmatism as he think weirdos face from normies.
This. As long as he gets the social liberal end of the libertarian deal, he doesn’t give a flying fuck over anything else, it’s just lip service so that he can feel like a big fish in a small pool (libertarians) instead of just being another twat prog writer at Slate.
^This^
You’re nicer than me. “Cop-out”? I’d call it downright willfully stupid. The whole point of Austrian economics is that human action should be the basis for economic thought.
Wasn’t buying want Nick was selling and through that discussion I saw exactly how and why Reason has chosen its course. He’s a semi-statist-pragmatist. And Smith owned him during the abortion part.
Still. I don’t see how Dalmia on any level should be on the roster.
what
Nick was hammering at the ‘we need to appeal to the undecided people’ line. He seems ready to betray hard core principles to swell the ranks but if you increase libertarianism and fill it with fluffers and fillers, then doesn’t it cease to exist? It’s a little like letting in progressives into the DNC. Before you know it, they kill you off. I can totally see Reason letting in the far left and before you know it…POOF! Dead.
It’s not hard to envision Reason as just another Vox or Slate in the nearish future.
While also criticising Rothbard for allying with anyone willing to oppose war. Racists are uniquely bad.
I was going to mention his hate of Rothbard but erased it. He was unconvincing there too.
Basically, he’s saying or at least giving consent to allowing the mob to destroy people’s lives over past comments or beliefs.
He’s a prick if he hasn’t thought this one through.
Reason Foundation analyst I believe. Not just a writer for the magazine.
Millenials and Gen Z Are Having Sex, but We’re Just Too Poor to Date

Not as crazy as you think. Academic commies in China are openly advocating for two husbands per wife because of the cultural need for men to be married run up against the unforeseen results of their One Child policy and the damage it did to an entire generation of female children.
Ha, “unforeseen”. I think anyone could have called that one.
The communist Chinese were (are) doing everything they can to keep control of the sexual situation in the nation they strive to control. They compile reports on the age that boys start masturbating by area and assign field work or other manual labor to them when that starts too early for their plans – trying to delay sexual maturation and the desire to marry.
You can date on the cheap AFTER you are in a relationship.
What do you think your odds of getting a second date are if the first date is McDonalds and a dollar cinema showing a movie that is already out on netflix?

We’re all going to die.
Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang claimed without evidence on Wednesday night that “we’re too late” in addressing climate change and that people need to be evacuated to higher ground immediately.
Yang began by highlighting a statistic that Joe Biden cited that the U.S. is responsible for only 15% of total global emissions and that even if the U.S. makes drastic changes in climate policy it is not going to do much in the grand scheme of things.
“This is going to be a tough truth but we are too late,” Yang said. “We are 10 years too late. We need to do everything we can to start moving the climate in the right direction but also need to start moving our people to higher ground and the best way to do that is to put economic resources in your hands so you can protect yourself and your families.”
If I didn’t know better I’d suspect he was just yanging my chain.
Yay!! ::goes off to buy more nitrous::
Maybe that thousand a month is for keeping all our boats afloat?
We’re the Vanguard dammit! Listen to us!
“Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang claimed without evidence ”
Sigh. I shouldn’t hate this phrase, but let’s be real. What evidence are you expecting in a political debate/campaign rally etc.? Or if he had spewed some BS statistics would you call that evidence?
“be evacuated to higher ground immediately”
Cause you know… They are being flooded as we speak.
Has he evacuated NYC yet?
Heh, I played that card above but in my defense I just snark, I don’t write an opinion column.
The inmates are running the asylum
That’s the best way of saying, “there’s nothing we can do, you should keep your money” to the True Believers.
If it’s too late, then Yang should be advocating for a more libertine and hedonistic existence.
If we’re gonna die, may as well DANCE!
How about he starts with a forced evacuation of Malibu?
That would seem fair.
Hey, I know hes just talking about his free money scam, but at least he acknowledges human agency. That is a very high bar for a Democrat to hurdle.
Who is this “we”, kimosabe?
Woman breaks down as she is publicly whipped 100 times for having pre-marital sex with her boyfriend in Indonesia
what a slag
Religion of peace and tolerance!
Obama has assured me that Indonesian Muslims are peaceful and tolerant.
Apparently this is one breakaway province that Indonesia kept in the fold under the condition they be allowed to practice medieval torture on their citizens. Yay?
Granted, they were fighting a five-front war through the 70’s and into the 80’s so I can imagine them allowing a bit of autonomy on something that doesn’t directly challenge their rule.
The Brits used ye olde whipping post for troops and “good order and discipline” back in Napoleonic times. Occasionally people just died from subsequent infections. Whoever is doing the whipping has to be a completely broken sadist because no normal human would stomach doing that to another.
There are a couple of really good book on torture through the ages, but I can’t remember their titles because I got rid of my paper books many years ago. But long story short, Sadists don’t make good torturers. Engineers do, as long as can pick up on social cues. Or at least the same personality type as engineers. Sadists *do* bad things, but they are not useful for doing just-enough-bad to get the desired outcome. It takes compartmentalization, rapid desensitization to gore, the ability to operate methodologically while processing complex input in real time.
So what you’re saying is, we’d be scary good at it.
Yes

That is an excellent book.

I got a few paragraphs in and really like it so far. I’ll have to read the rest tonight. Thanks Leap!
This is how I thought things would be with my wife and I, but it turns out I’m actually a bit squeamish about it and she has no problem giving discipline when it is warranted.
The efficiency consultant in me likes the idea of corporal punishment (when appropriate and not overdone). It’s far cheaper than imprisonment. A little pain and shame then back to the ranks.

True. I know a few people who are prosecutors, one in Baltimore ironically enough and one for Anne Arundel county, and they both seem to be in it for the right reasons. A Virginia delegate interrupted President Trump as he delivered remarks in Jamestown on Tuesday, telling Trump “you can’t send us back” in a response to Trump’s racist attacks on a group of Democratic congresswomen.
The protest came as Trump delivered remarks commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown colonial settlement. A group of black Virginia state lawmakers decided to boycott the speech
amid Trump’s continuing attacks.Trump has stoked racial divisions in recent weeks, first by telling four congresswomen of color they should “go back” to their native countries — even though three were born in the US — and more recently by attacking Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings, the black lawmaker who represents parts of Baltimore.
“Mr. President, you can’t send us back. Virginia is our home,” said Delegate Ibraheem Samirah said before he was drowned out by boos and escorted out by police. Trump paused and then continued with his prepared remarks after Samirah was led out.
Samirah, a Democrat of Northern Virginia, says that he disrupted the president’s speech because “nobody’s racism and bigotry should be excused for the sake of being polite.”
Samirah is an American dentist and politician from Virginia. He was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates for the 86th district in 2019.
Hm…let’s try again. I was trying to strike the fake news…
Trump has stoked racial divisions in recent weeks, first by telling four congresswomen of color they should “go back” to their native countries — even though three were born in the US — and more recently by attacking Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings, the black lawmaker who represents parts of Baltimore.Of course, Trump never said “send them back”. Haters gonna hate, though.
You could tell Harris was shaken up by that exchange.
Really? She oozes the sort of true-believer fanatical certitude impermeable to self awareness or shame.
Are you sure she wasn’t plotting revenge? Deciding where to put the knife in?
Her voice was shaky.
I’ll have to go back and watch it just for that. She’s a despicable person.
Here ya go
https://youtu.be/Cfp_IIdVnXs
They’re all going to be gunning for Harris on that front now. She’s toast, there’s too much to pick apart in her record.
Dayum. Haven’t seen Haris’ rebuttal but her face tells me she was not prepared for that. How does she not prepare for it?
She seemed like she was off. When someone nods like that you know they’re losing their cool.
This is why they don’t want Tulsi in the debates. Harris must be fuming she allowed on. Wouldn’t surprise me if that fake toughie pulls a self-entitled Hilary hissy fit.
Her response was that she reformed California’s justice system. Is this true?
Yes, she incorporated ignoring appellate courts when they said “stop abusing your authority”.
While giggling like Malibu Stacy.
She couldn’t believe the moderators allowed it and was thrown off. I think she knows she’s already anointed to be at the very least the VP pick. How dare some nobody be allowed to make her look bad.
How does Tulsi get that sheen …
I’m guessing Leap did this because I don’t think Tundra or Fourscore have the coding skillz needed.

DNC official hits back at GOP calling Dems socialists: It shows ‘they can’t win’ on issues
Democratic National Committee Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa said Wednesday that Republican critics of Democrats’ policy ideas “cry socialism” because they can’t win on the issues.
No, it’s because they can pronounce “socialism” but can’t pronounce “Xochitl.”
Weren’t half the candidates calling themselves socialists before someone told then that it was a bad play?
Xochitl Hinojosa
If you don’t go along with her, you’ll be on the sacrificial altar.
Has Quetzalcoatl given his endorsement yet?
No, but Tlaloc supports their position on killing children.
We’re talking about expanding healthcare.
Via socializing it. Hence the accusations of being socialist.
We’re not advocating for socialism, we’re just advocating for an expansion of healthcare via a system whereby everyone is given access to public medical facilities paid for via tax revenue.
We’re not advocating for fucking you up the ass, we’re just advocating for an expansion of your anus via a system whereby everyone is given access to public anal facilities paid for via tax revenue.
Just to be clear, the facility is tax funded, the anuses are all ‘volunteers’ from the U.S. Mandatory Service Program.
because they can’t win on the issues
As opposed to Democrats calling everyone that disagrees with them on any particular thing a “racist”.
Shut up, Hitler.

Horrifying
This all needs to stop.
Marianne Williamson is not a serious candidate for the presidency: She’s a self-help celebrity who openly disdained policy debate onstage Tuesday night. Worse than that, she looms as a menace to public health — someone who has attacked antidepressants and vaccination in a manner that “can literally kill people,” as my colleague German Lopez (who covers public health) put it. She has no business being on the debate stage; the more famous she gets, the more harm she can do.
The fact that a lot of media figures aren’t recognizing this — that they’re either celebrating her flashes of insight on issues like reparations for slavery or enjoying her kookiness — shows that they haven’t fully internalized the lessons of Donald Trump’s rise to power. Williamson is vanishingly unlikely to win, or even come close, but the amount of press attention she’s getting is troubling. Even if public interest in her mandates some level of coverage, at least it could be more muted and skeptical than what we’re seeing.
“As far as I can tell, Williamson has zero experience or expertise that would prepare her to effectively do the job for which she’s auditioning, and that’s terrifying to me,” Seth Cotlar, a historian of the US at Willamette University, tells me. “It’s fun to cover politics as a circus, because it often is a circus, but the stakes of what happens in DC are incredibly serious and have real consequences for people’s lives.”
Vox writer is aghast that Marianne Williamson gets treated respectfully. She’s not part of the “public servant” aristocracy.
Whur muh outragemobz gone?
>>and that’s terrifying to me
safe space! safe space!
I think she’ll get the same treatment as Trump, as seen here. She isn’t part of the “serious” candidates, not because she said she’s trolling or anything, but because she doesn’t meet the standard of acceptable politicians.
“Even if public interest in her mandates some level of coverage, at least it could be more muted and skeptical than what we’re seeing.”
Isn’t this an admission that they think the “journalists” are supposed to be the kingmakers telling the people what they are supposed to think?
someone who has attacked antidepressants and vaccination in a manner that “can literally kill people,”
Unlike the “side effects may include suicide” antidepressants that literally “can literally kill people”.
And the asthma medication with side effects that may include “asthma related death”. How’d that get approved?
First day of work is done! Lady got paid so we got enough floating money to hopefully keep me out of debt for the month.
Have to go to Laos to get a visa extension next week. The gig seems chill and everyone got along really well today. Half of tomorrow is just going to be a tour of Chiang Mai, which is a bit redundant for me. It’s fun and challenging to move to a new country and start to navigate a whole new culture. It’s much easier than in Korea. I feel like I’ve put my time in and have earned a bit of latitude with my lifestyle.
Lady bought me a great big dragon made of twisted rope to show her appreciation for how I’ve financially supported us, and now for this month it’s her turn. It’s beautiful.
I don’t know how you state-siders do it. Being ignored and anonymous is so spirit-lifting. I hope everyone is doing well and achieving their goals.
Glad to hear that Evan. We wish you only success.

Let’s be clear about something: There’s almost no chance that Williamson is going to win the Democratic nomination in the same way Trump won in 2016. She’s not nearly as famous as Trump was, not polling well enough, and can’t tap into base racial grievance the way Trump can.
But just because she won’t win doesn’t mean she can be treated as a funny sideshow.
When a presidential candidate gets massive media attention, there is always a surge of interest in what they think and believe. Their past writing gets read more, they get more chances to spread their ideas via America’s biggest megaphones, and they can even parlay their post-candidacy notoriety into more impressive and high-profile positions.
What this means, in Williamson’s case, is a greater opportunity to attract more followers and adherents to her worldview. It’s not that she’s bringing up her dodgy ideas about depression and vaccines in debates — at least not yet — but rather that all the people who are Googling her after watching the debate or reading a positive article about her performance are likely to encounter her old rhetoric for the first time. They’ll hear her past lines about how it’s okay not to get vaccinated, how “sickness is an illusion,” and how antidepressants are dangerous and pushed on you by Big Pharma.
I don’t like what she says. I want her de-platformed!
In her defense, antidepressants ARE dangerous and pushed on you by big pharma.
But just because she won’t win doesn’t mean she can be treated as a funny sideshow.
Actually that is exactly what it means.

Chinese Characters Are Futuristic and the Alphabet Is Old News
I’m confused – how is the more complicate, error-prone and resourse intensive method in any way better?
If anything, the chinese should be looking at ways to reduce their character set. Hieroglyphs are so stone-age.
The Chicoms did exactly that over a period of decades. It didn’t take. But they did introduce simplified characters and a new system using, um, an alphabet.
I’m starting to think the reason the ‘Asians are smart’ stereotype exists is because the smart ones moved to the west, where they were noticed.
Correction: it did “take” on the mainland, because, well, it was required. It didn’t take anywhere the Chinese had rights.
Yes, let’s switch to 50,000 characters instead of a phonetic alphabet with 26 components. That will be great.
As the article notes, plenty of things use predictive text now……and a lot of people (including me) fucking hate it.
The mere act of assuming what I want to say pisses me off. Getting it wrong is just added insult. Then there was the lovely problem I ran into with predictive autocomplete in a programming environment where there were two functions with similar names, one having a longer name that was the other function’s name with additional characters at the end. There was no command to tell the autocomplete not the fill in the longer function, which is what it always suggested. So I kept having to accept the long name and delete the extra characters when I just typed the short function name.
Ditto. I will decide what I want to write, thanks very much.
Well, and the Chinese speakers can correct me on this, but each Chinese character is more than just a phoneme. So if we are going to compare it: The Alphabet allows users of multiple languages to type using the same interface in their own language. Each letter press is part of a code to encode the sounds made by the word. There are lots of software out there to predict what you are trying to spell and correct you if you are wrong.
Yes. I mentioned to put wrong in scare quotes.
Your predictive autocomplete is still causing trouble.
Why the fuck would it replace a real word that makes sense!!!!!
Because computers have no clue about “sense.”
It’s letter frequency, dictionary presence, and word/word pattern frequency.
We’re still very far from ‘do what I mean’ software.
We’re not even all that good at it in direct interpersonal interactions.
I can really only speak to Japanese use of Chinese characters, but yes single characters can be complete words or you can combine them to form larger words.
With Japanese input you input a phonetic for the character(s) and based on context and frequency a word list comes up and you tick off the one that you wanted.
That seems… slow.
My wife and all her friends do it with their phones(texts and Line msgs)
Not slow at all.
There’s the dividing line in the Far East: using WeChat or Line.
That works when you are typing standard, everyday chat. Sometimes when you are getting into the weeds into something technical the systems aren’t much help.
It’s worse when you are in an unusual context – where the characters you need are far from common. The software keeps giving you options and you have to get to the bottom of the list to find the “dictionary” option… and hope the dictionary provided has the character you need.
Similar with Chinese input. Pinyin is like romaji for Mandarin. Taiwan has their own phonetic system (including a character based one and romanized version) and there are other romanization systems, particularly with Cantonese or other dialects which have different sounds. I guess there’s a stroke and stroke order (cue Rising Wasabi) to input graphically or via a keypad. I’ve never used the last version.
With an unknown character, being able to use handwriting recognition is a godsend.
However, I do find it hysterical that you have to have the stroke order mostly correct or it will fail to find the character.
You can also draw on the screen, but use of proper stroke order is marginal at best so that method is out for me.
I have found that even stroke count isn’t always consistent. Radicals that I learned to be “X strokes” 30 years ago are shown as “Y strokes” in some contemporary dictionaries.
I respect that you even know the counts!
For everyone else – look at this mess. 機械

Has anyone explained this? What the hell are they talking about?
Seriously, Trump was most likely thinking about how to own Elijah Cummings again.
I have no idea. But Team Blue is also saying that the economy is shitty and the middle class is disappearing when the opposite is true right now. I think they are just saying things, and largely the same things they always say. Funny how none of the problems they assert are fixed when/where they are in charge.

You can still choose the cash option on the claim form, but you will be disappointed with the amount you receive and you won’t get the free credit monitoring.
Yeah, isn’t the cash award like 21¢ or something?
I made a claim right away, I will be lucky to get a free lunch out of it at this point. Oh well, at least I keep my credit frozen.
I chose the cash option because I already have free credit monitoring from another fuck-up related to a data breach at my old company.

Minnesota glibs – you may be pleased to know that I have managed to find a gym here in St Paul. It’s at the YWCA which, perhaps strangely, has all I need — squat rack, pull-up bar, bench, kettle-bells. There are signs plastered all over the place stating that the YWCA “empowers women” and “eliminates racism”. It’s good to know that each one of my paltry squats and deadlifts are not only keeping me fit, but are also destroying the scourge of sexism and racism that plague this state. I can only hope you fine gentlemen are doing your part.

In a scorching letter condemning President Donald Trump’s recent racist attacks, the Washington National Cathedral questioned all those who continued to remain silent.
On Tuesday, the capital’s Episcopal cathedral released a letter titled “Have We No Decency? A response to President Trump,” which was signed by the church’s top leadership.
“This week, President Trump crossed another threshold,” wrote the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington; the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, dean of Washington National Cathedral; and the Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas, canon theologian of Washington National Cathedral, about Trump’s attacks on the city of Baltimore and its congressional representative, Elijah Cummings (D-MD).
“Not only did he insult a leader in the fight for racial justice and equality for all persons,” they continued, “not only did he savage the nations from which immigrants to this country have come; but now he has condemned the residents of an entire American city. Where will he go from here?”
All good Americans agree with me. The rest are damned to Hell.
Whatever. Take your meds.
Further the Episcopalian schism a little more why doncha?
“but now he has condemned the residents of an entire American city”
Really? Cause I’m pretty sure he criticized the city and it’s leadership. Not the residents.
Who voted for those “Leaders”?
That sect of the Episcopal church is pretty political. If it aligns with “social justice” they’re wholly on board.
I’m pretty sure he criticized the city and it’s leadership. Not the residents.
This is like how Trump said he was at ground zero as a first responder even though he actually said the opposite. But don’t you DARE criticize ///fakenews.
Hollerith’s wife Melissa was one of the chaplains at my high school. She was a bit of a dim bulb.
The Episcopal Church is dying anyway.
“The Episcopal Church is dying anyway.”
Huh. Must be bad luck.
(raised Episcopalian, attend a three-day Christian rock festival in the 9th grade and quickly converted to Satanism)
They found one common factor among all shrinking christian sects. It rhymes with ‘broke’.
“…not only did he savage the nations from which immigrants to this country have come…”
If their actions are any indication, the actual immigrants weren’t too hot on those places either.
Did they write a letter to LBJ for using the n-word? No? Okay, then.
Despite criticism toward Trump, however, the letter was intended for the people, not the president. The letter challenged its readers to end their silence over Trump’s racism because to stay silent is to “condone the violence of these words.”
“When does silence become complicity?” the church leaders wrote. “What will it take for us all to say, with one voice, that we have had enough? The question is less about the president’s sense of decency, but of ours.”
You’re all a bunch of Nazi collaborators.
“condone the violence of these words.”
Speach is violence, beating a gay man I disagree with is just airing our grievances.

McSally said she spent the past few weeks examining a report that resulted from an Air Force Office of Special Investigations probe, which reportedly found insufficient evidence of sexual misconduct committed by General Hyten, a four-star general. Colonel Kathryn Spletstoser told The New York Times last week that he made several unwanted advances on her throughout her tenure working under General Hyten, including a December night in 2017 when he allegedly sexually assaulted her in a hotel room.
In her opening remarks, McSally stated, for the first time, her full-fledged support for General Hyten, having concluded that the accusations against him are “false.”
“The truth is that General Hyten is innocent of these charges. Sexual assault happens in the military. It just didn’t happen in this case,” she said. “I pray the accuser gets the help she needs and finds the peace she is searching for, but it cannot be by destroying General Hyten with false allegations.”
The report that determined there was insufficient evidence of wrongdoing by General Hyten has only been made available to members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, another reason why McSally felt her colleagues would look toward her for guidance. Further muddying the water, Colonel Spletstoser, who sat just feet away from General Hyten at Tuesday’s hearing, has said that she was ousted by him because she refused his sexual advances — not due to a separate government inquiry that reportedly determined she was a “toxic” leader.
She sounds nice.
Popp talks about what a “toxic leader” in the Army looks like.
Former Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson, who oversaw the investigation, also vouched for General Hyten. In testimony before the committee, she said he “was falsely accused” and suggested Colonel Spletstoser is “a wounded soldier who believes what she is saying is true, even if it’s not.”
Frustrated with the hearing and the denials by General Hyten, Colonel Spletstoser characterized what she personally witnessed as a “political spectacle done at the expense of an innocent victim who has never lied on anything.”
How’s the view from up there? Is it uncomfortable, being tied to that stake?
About a dozen washings in and Cascade Fryer Boil Out (rebranded Cascade Professional dishwasher powder) is working great. Just like dishwasher detergents used to work before the idiocy took over. Thank you Canadia for doing the job that Murica won’t.

RE: The Big Lie.
It’s amazing to me how effective the Big Lie is and really calls into question how intelligent, rational and mature the general population is. It definitely aligns with Dean’s pessimistic outlook.
https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=3636
So here we have a poll showing that the majority of Americans think Trump is a racist. That includes ~80% of blacks. I know it’s a poll so YMMV, but even with a huge margin of error (+/- 10%) that’s still at least 1/3 of the country that thinks Trump is a racist.
It’s disheartening on numerous fronts:
1) The term “racist” has been so watered down that it is essentially meaningless now.
2) These people have clearly not actually read/listened to anything Trump has said. It is a looooooooong stretch to call any of it racist. Boorish? Sure. Inappropriate? Probably. Racist? No way.
3) This is 100% media-driven. The vast majority of “mainstream” press is now indistinguishable from the Dem Party. They are not just repeating the Dem talking points, they’re actually driving the narrative. We’ve known that they’re hacks and propagandists for a while now, what’s especially depressing is how effective their tactics still are. We talk a lot about the death of traditional media and how no one’s paying attention anymore, but that’s clearly false. Enough people are still paying attention for it to diffuse through the zeitgeist through osmosis. And now they think to themselves “look at what we can do… we’re the ones really running this country”; and they’re mostly right. That is particularly scary to me.
It’s not just a poll, it’s a QPac Poll.
You can ignore them, they’ve been shit for years, possibly decades.
Why would people think that? Wait breaking news from CNN…
“Racist President racisitly tweets racist slogan to appeal to his racist base.”
There are a few sure, but mostly what I am seeing online is mocking, joking and laughter at the MSM and the Democratic Party in general.
Trump will be re-elected comfortably.
What did Lemon ask at the tard convention? “What do you think about Americans who put the economy over Trump’s bigotry?” How far out of touch does one have to be to even let those words pass their lips?
The one that beats her staff said that she is sure that “some” Trump supporters/voters are not racist.
Hell, back during the first Obama election I had a black co-worker start talking about how great it would be to vote for Obama. I just said that I wasn’t going to be voting for him. Her first reaction was, “But [Nephilium], you’re not racist!” I then explained I didn’t agree with his platform, and was voting third party, which got the response, “There’s more then two people running for president?”
So here we have a poll showing that the majority of Americans think Trump is a racist.
“We have been telling America, all day, every day, that Donald Trump is a racist. It’s working.”
Exactly, and that’s what’s scary. They now know, without a doubt, that they can be utterly shameless propagandists and still steer the country in their preferred direction.
I had hoped that perhaps people maybe, just maybe, would realize what a joke the press has become and quit paying attention. Silly me.
I’ve yet to see an Associated Press story that didn’t proclaim Trump’s tweets re Squad were “racist.” Can’t even say “allegedly” or “thought by his opponents to be”.
Back when I did some reporting for my college newspaper, the editor was always quick to say I had to interview someone “from the other side” and be careful not to put my opinions in the articles.
*Looks back at pessimistic post, nods knowingly*
Make America Safe Again
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Wednesday signed a bill into law that banned local school districts from allowing teachers to bring guns to school.
“The answer to the gun violence epidemic plaguing this country has never been and never will be more guns,” Cuomo said in a statement.
“These measures will help slow the proliferation of guns by keeping unneeded firearms out of school zones and helping to ensure unwanted or illegal guns don’t fall into dangerous hands,” he added.
New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said the “legislation will prevent teachers from being armed and establishes gun buyback programs to keep firearms off school grounds and ensure the protection of young people.”
“While the federal government turns its back on gun violence and prevention, we’re committed to preventing tragedies and saving lives,” she added.
——
The measure in New York, which is effective immediately, specifically bars educational institutions from authorizing any teacher, professor, administrator or other employee not employed as a resource officer to carry a gun.
Problem solved.
So now they’re double hatted as a school resource officer? Seems a too easy to slip that through.
They used the wrong magic spell when creating those GFZs the first time. They’ve got it this time.
To be fair, the optics of unarmed minor citizens being rounded up into a mandatory education camp with armed government agents indoctrinating them is a bit dystopian.
Granted, I don’t think the guns change the dynamic all that much.
He is missing a very key component. They need to put signs on the doors of schools that state that guns are not allowed on the premises. That will surely stop any potential aggressor from bringing a gun into a school.
Uh, they already do.
No no, the new signs are bigger.
Attention criminals: New York State schools are open for business!
I’m ok with this. Let’s see what happens in New York, vs. other states that allow it. One of the problems, however, is that you’ll never be able to count the number of potential shooters who didn’t go through with it because they knew they’d meet armed resistance.
Shoot-em-ups that are foiled by someone legally carrying fall off the media radar pretty quickly.
Yay, Minnesoda’s new hands free cell phone law goes into effect today! You can’t talk on your cell phone while you are driving anymore. Another stupid law…
No word yet on the no-eating-a-hamburger-while-driving nor the no-masturbating-while-driving laws. I’m sure they are both about to gush forth.

FAKE NEWS
Nice.
Wanna see a magic trick?
Ghost guns are now a thing of the past.
Making, selling, transporting or possessing 3-D-printed guns or other undetectable firearms is now illegal in the Empire State thanks to a measure signed Tuesday by Gov. Cuomo.
The law bans all firearms whose components can’t be picked up by typical security screening technology such as X-rays and metal detectors.
So-called ghost guns are considered especially dangerous because they can be made at home and have no serial numbers, allowing criminals to bypass background checks and licensing laws. Plans and parts are readily available for purchase online.
“Undetectable guns have no legitimate purpose,” said Assembly sponsor Thomas Abinanti (D-Westchester). “This is another commonsense step that the Legislature and governor [took] to deter gun violence and make New York safer for everyone.”
Presto! no more scary ghosty gunz. What shall we do away with next?
Ghost peppers?
They’re more then welcome to try to take my ghost peppers. Preferably with ungloved hands.
Now, if they will only ban cocaine. Then no one will be able to get it because that’s how it works.
That’s already a federal felony.
Oh, fer fux sake. Not having a serial number does not make guns invisible to metal detectors and x-rays.
If this was just a one-off of magical thinking by gun controllers, I probably wouldn’t ask “They can’t be that stupid, can they?”. But its not, so I do.
I don’t ask that question, but for a different reason than thinking it is impossible for them to be that dumb.
You should just cut to the chase and ban Death. I can’t see any downside at all.
Listening to Michael Malice interview with a Charlie Nash. Geez I didn’t think you could find more sanctimonious, self-assured person than progressives, but distributists give them a good run for the money.
That was the worst. Boring kid that is victim of Dunning–Kruger effect.
Are there undetectable guns out there? It looks like they’re addressing a problem that doesn’t exist or are they going to legislatively seem polymer firearms to be undetectable?
Undetectable guns
When I wear loose fitting clothing?
If they make a law saying they are undetectable, how will I know if I have one or not?
Schrödinger’s gun
It looks like the CCP has finally had enough of the Hong Kong unrest:

A Tiananmen Square type crackdown there won’t be pretty to say the least.
Hmmmm
A group of major retailers, including Walmart, Amazon and Target, are facing a lawsuit for allegedly selling a wildly popular type of light bulb without the proper authorization.
Walmart, Amazon, Target, Ikea and Bed Bath & Beyond were sued by the University of California on Tuesday for patent infringement relating to “filament” LED light bulbs. The light bulbs, which have visible, glowing filaments that give them a vintage look, have increasingly cropped up in restaurants, hotels and homes in recent years.
The university says that it is bringing the lawsuit in order to protect “the reinvention of the light bulb” by a team of researches led by Nobel Prize winner Shuji Nakamura at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It says that university researchers invented and patented a filament LED technology that uses a fraction of the energy that traditional incandescent light bulbs use, plus lasts longer and stays cooler, according to the complaint.
However, foreign manufacturers have been accused of stealing the design for the light bulb and producing mass quantities without permission. The light bulbs were then sold to an “unwitting” public by some of the biggest retailers in the world, who failed to verify that their suppliers weren’t violating intellectual property, according to the complaint.
——-
The university said it is bringing the suit in part to make a point. According to the complaint, it hopes to “spearhead a broader, national response to the existential threat to university technology transfer that is posed by the widespread disregard for university patent rights that is prevalent today.”
Those damned wily Chinamen.
I was under the impression publicly funded academic research was made widely widely available as a matter of policy.
Oh, hell no. Your big research universities all have big IP operations to commercialize and monetize their research.
https://www.warf.org/technologies/inventions-patents-and-portfolios.cmsx
Do all faculty, staff, and students at UW–Madison or the Morgridge Institute have to submit their invention to WARF?
YES: University policy and federal statutes REQUIRE all UW–Madison faculty, staff and students to disclose to WARF, regardless of the monies that funded the research. All Morgridge Institute researchers also must disclose to WARF.
UCSB is a patent troll. Prove me wrong.
Fixed this for them
Good morning, shitlords. WTF? 574 posts already? I decided to take the day off and slept in and I guess the rest of you did as well, but didn’t sleep in as much… oh, I forgot, no one here works.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) was the most-searched candidate on Google during the second night of the second Democrat debate, according to GoogleTrends.
Gabbard gained early attention after walking out in an all-white pants suit. But during the debate she gained attention for her anti-war stance and most notably for being the most effective attacker of Harris, who spent much of the night attacking others and getting into heated back-and-forth exchanges.
I swear there was some Two Minute Hate of Melania wearing an all-white outfit. Racist or something. Has anyone run that at Tulsi?
Melania is a white supremicist who is causing global warming and making other women feel ugly. /reasons
Yes, and not only that, but that same “journalist” was practically worshipping Hillary for showing up in an all-white outfit:
https://americanlookout.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Philly-Inquirer-Melania-vs-Hillary.jpg
“abbard gained early attention after walking out in an all-white pants suit.”
So, sort of like Hillary, but more pure and holier?
Easier on the eyes.
And, you know, attractive
What percentage of those searches were “Tulsi Gabbard naked?”
Stay classy Kamala.
I’m not a real Tulsi fan, but come on!
Shocking footage shows police officers laugh as man slowly dies on the pavement
Ow my nuts.
Poor fucking kid. Probably thought an ambulance would come pick him up.
Who cares that you murdered someone, you were rude!
Totality of circs, made it home safely, etc. etc.

Shows what I know.
I almost applied for one of those jobs at my Alma mater. Wifey vetoed it because Lafayette Indiana isn’t exactly on her whitelist for places to live.
Its big money, though. We have a few attorneys dedicated to tech transfer from the universities.
“Lafayette Indiana isn’t exactly on her whitelist for places to live.”
Really? I don’t get it. Freezing your ass off in the winter and dodging tornadoes on the 3 nice days of the year isn’t appealing?
Also, corn and soybean fields, and the smell of fresh pig shit, did you try to sell her on those points?
I tried to sell her on the fact that we could buy a mansion with the equity in our shit hole house here in NoVa. Of course, we’d have to move upwind of the dog food factory, which adds a premium to the price.
It would be really interesting work, I think. Back when I worked in Dallas, my system had a research institute and we looked at setting up a tech transfer operation. I loved working with the scientists and researchers, and the deal side of tech transfer was also fascinating.
From what I have seen online, the debate probably went as well as could be expected, with the least bad candidate (Gabbard) landing shots on the most sociopathic candidate (Harris), perhaps even holing the SS Kamala below the waterline.
The consensus seems to be that was the most memorably moment of the whole thing.
Tulsi looked yummy.
“holing the SS Kamala below the waterline”
Euphemism?
Hawt!
Bzzt. The correct response would have been “These euphemisms are getting positively naval!”
Additional points off for thinking that the sociopath can in any way be considered “hawt”.
Kamala is wide open for anyone not a lunatic to flatten her. That may be a high bar and I fully expect that Tulsi will get tossed off the main stage with people like Beto when team blue gets serious.
“when team blue gets serious.”
id?
Seriously more stupid?
They win elections from time to time. Remember Obama? When people are dealing with power and piles of money, I think it is a mistake to just assume they are stupid. Evil? Yeah, I’ll go with that.
Yeah, but this is not your mum’s democrat party. Hell, it’s not even the democrat party of Obama. These people are completely insane and if the entire electorate does not soon consist mostly of vagrants, retards, and grifters, they are totally fucked for a long time.
It’s democracy. Does it matter if they are insane as long as they get the electoral votes? I believe their leaders are evil grifters , as you say, and they are manipulating the public to achieve their ends. Potato, pahtahto. Slavers are not to be underestimated is my point.
I read one opinion that the debates were set up for Kamala to start to catch up to Biden and gap the rest of the field, on the theory that a WOC is what the Dems need next year. Well, if so, then Tulsi left that plan in a pile of smoking rubble, and may have committed the cardinal sin of derailing one of the DNC’s preferred candidates.
In which case, she’s a goner. Of course, I can’t figure out why the DNC isn’t promoting the hell out of her, since she can get WOC credits also, she’s as lefty as they could want, and she doesn’t have nearly the baggage that Harris does.
She’s corporate. She’s black (I know, she’s not technically African American, but what a silly distinction to make). How much of it is show, virtue signalling, pure manipulation of the public? Kamala is an established team blue player and Tulsi is a new comer that IS NOT playing well with others. Bye, bye Tulsi.
She may be all those things. But, she’s also a really easy target. Gabbards pretty much proved that by dealing her an epic bitch slap in last night’s debate. Do they really think The Teflon Donald is going to play nice with her? If she gets the nomination, you can count on him making Willie Brown jokes all the way up to the point of his re-election.
Yeah, Harris fits all the boxes they want her to. Except for the one about being able to win.
Yeah, I think she’s a terrible choice for team blue if they want to win. A corrupt machine is choosing their leader, not an individual. Team red chose Trump. Lowest common denominator stuff when dealing with organizations whose only existence is gaining power. The whole “Who is a good person?” way of viewing how the public will vote is way off the mark in my opinion. People are going to vote for what the brainwashing media sources they follow tell them to vote for.
Early prediction. Biden gets the nomination. The election goes about as it did in 2016 with Trump narrowly winning again. The democrat leftist twats go even more batshit crazy and say it’s because they didn’t go far enough left, so they go further left. This is just too easy to figure out.
Her anti-war stance. Where do you think the DNC gets their funding? Its not all $5 donations from wokesters.
“Her anti-war stance.”
She’s so last week. The dems gave that up in the 60s. If you’re going to get worldwide communism, you’re going to have to kill a lot of people, today’s democrats know this.
She’s not a “team player”.
In what way? She toes the lion on policy (hell, even being anti-war is a good “progressive” position). Other than competing with the preferred Dems for the nom, how has she not been a good team player?
Or is that all it takes?
“She toes the lion ”
Kinky
She doesn’t toe the lion, she just believes that stuff. Note how she wouldn’t push the collusion and impeachment angle, merely because she knows it’s bullshit. In fact, if she wants to convince the party that she can play along, reversing on that would be a good way to do it.
I like a lot of things about her. The biggest problem is that she’s a likable, principled, well-meaning socialist. A very dangerous combination, IMO.
Someone here said or linked to an an article that made an argument for that idea. Be careful what you wish for if you’re pushing Tulsi.
“…wide open…to flatten her…tossed off…”
You guys are
killingjilling meTeam Trump was taking notes.
Eight of the 11 people who watched these debates will forget every single thing that was said by the time the primaries roll around.
Speaking of watching the debates, did ya see this?

Tomi Lahren went there.
https://hotair.com/headlines/archives/2019/08/makes-sick-work-company-tomi-lahren/
The undeniable truth will not be tolerated. Honestly, fuck anybody that denies that’s the case as they’re either ignorant or a liar.
Its only a slur if it isn’t true. There’s no question that she was banging him, Willie himself has confirmed it (if that was even needed), and there’s the amazing coincidence that he lined up plum job after plum job for her while she was spreading it for him.
A more clever approach would be to just put a 50-foot garden hose and an orange in front of Kamala’s podium.
One of the comments 😀
So, no one is ever supposed to mention that she got her political career as a quid pro quo for being a powerful man’s side piece?
Lahren shouldn’t have apologized. It’s a legitimate thing. She was having sex with Brown and he gave her multiple political sinecures. We’re supposed to ignore the facts of the situation?
she has far more substantial problems with her record that should be highlighted and beaten into people’s faces. poontronage isn’t an executable offense.
Lafayette Indiana isn’t exactly on her whitelist for places to live.
Rating: PROBLEMATIC
I owned a house and property just north of there. I gave it to my daughter. No way I would even try to take my wife there, it’s not fit for human habitation. Tipton Till Plain, not habitable during the last glaciation, still not habitable.

Interesting site. Do you use their sticks?
They are well worth the cost. The Thrashers (RIP) GM used to have a lake house next to my inlaws. I had a steady stream of sticks for a long time. Can’t justify $250 lumber for beer league.
I got my Tacks on sale for $100, which I thought was even ridiculous.
Yep, I have two and use them exclusively. Sold, retired, or gave away the rest. Great value for the weight. And they do funky color special orders.
/sigh. I like their stuff, but no one makes a Verbeek pattern anymore. Closest is crazy ovie. I need a nice heel curve with a wide open blade. Stick handling is for pond rockets. I need something I can ping off the goalie’s mask from 60′.
Mild heel curve, slight open for me. Used a mid curve when I was younger. Mostly play defense now.
neutral for me. half my goals are garbage rebounds and half of those are backhand.
I (and a whole lot of NHL HOF’ers) approve of this statement. “The greasier, the better” is my motto. I see broke kids in my beer league/pickup games playing with $250 carbon fiber or whatever the fuck they are and I have a pair of no-shit wooden Sherwoods. The guys ride me hard about it on the bench and I tell hem it’s because I want to be absolutely certain when I slash someone about what I’m giving out and they’re getting.
Finished the Dave smith and Nick argument.
Is Nick retarded?
…Or evil 😕
Not a binary choice.
He’s Dalmia with worse impulse control, less self awareness, and a willingness to wear dead animal skin.
Cow even.
You guys are rough on Nick, but now that you mention it…
Yes?
