A Cultural History of ‘TERF Bangs,’ Beauty’s Most Puzzling Term
At some point in the past half-decade, short, chunky bangs have become associated with TERFs, an acronym that stands for “trans-exclusive radical feminists” and is used to describe feminists (typically second-wave) who argue that trans women aren’t “real” women. TERFS also like to insist that TERF is a slur, although others would say it merely sums up their world view. It’s unclear whether self-proclaimed feminists who don’t respect others’ gender identities are more likely to sport short bangs, but the concept of “TERF bangs” has nonetheless become so deeply embedded in certain parts of the internet’s consciousness that when Emma Watson cut her fringe short, she inspired at least one mournful “Hermione got TERF bangs” tweet.
THE DAY OF THE ANIMALS!* PANIC! FULL BLOWN PANIC!
People are Becoming Prey. Sorry. Not panic-y enough… PEOPLE ARE BECOMING PREY!
It is not clear when an alarm was raised regarding Salubiro’s disappearance. Several reports suggest that the search for him began as early as Monday night. After two days and still no trace, local villagers notified Salubiro’s uncle about his disappearance. Equally concerned, the uncle went to Salubiro’s house and found the doors locked, the house empty. The uncle and villagers then went to the local police, who issued a manhunt to look for Salubiro, searching the palm oil plantation and nearby area. They did not find him, but they did find a boot, a farming tool, and scattered palm oil at the plantation.
Nearby Salubiro’s remaining boot and tool, villagers noticed the presence of a 23-foot engorged reticulated python in a ditch, struggling to move. One villager noticed shoe-shaped indentations visible in the distended body of the snake. Hoping to be wrong, the group got together and killed the python. By this time, it was late Tuesday night. There is a gruesome video posted by the local police where, in just under six blood-curdling minutes, witnesses watch as one man wielding an 18-foot-long knife cuts open the belly of the snake. The video is dark and blurry, with cellphone cameras and flashlights flickering, as men shuffle uncomfortably around the dead python. The long, engorged body of the snake is lifeless but daunting, uncanny.
At first, you see what could possibly be a boot. Soon after, it is undeniable. Those are clothed human legs, feet. The snake’s belly is cut open, further and further. Minute by minute, you see the presence of two fully clothed, lifeless human legs. Then a torso, shirted. By the time they get to the top of the torso, it’s very clear what you’re looking at.
Because before climate change, animals never ate humans.
*The Day of the Animals was one of the many animals attack movies churned out after the runaway success of Jaws. These include Orca, Grizzly, Piranha, The Swarm, Squirm, The Food of the Gods, Long Weekend, Kingdom of the Spiders, The Pack, Ants!, Rattlers, Nightwing, The Bees, The Savage Bees (and it’s sequel, Terror Out of the Sky,) Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo, Bug, Empire of the Ants… But Jaws was preceded by Phase IV, Night of the Lepus, Frogs, Willard and Ben, Chosen Survivors, and Killer Bees. So was Jaws part of the animals attack genre, or a throwback to the earlier giant animals attack genre (King Kong, Godzilla, Mighty Joe Young, Them!, Reptilcus, Tarantula!, It Came From Beneath the Sea, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, etc.)?
You know what we haven’t done in a while? Checked in on Poppy.

She’s that sweet girl that will slice your junk off while you’re sleeping and summon Beelzebub with it.
God help me I watched that video a few months ago. Came up in the feed somehow.
Poppy wanted it in your feed so was it was in your feed.

What is that suppose to mean?
Easy up on the paranoia, you’re among enemies here.
Hola.
I’ve already learned something today. I was still calling that style a Pageboy Haircut.
Yeah, in my youth that was the haircut for chicks who wanted or had a chelsea but needed a job not in a bar, record store, or tattoo parlor.
Due to work scheduling, I can’t really give this question the swiss delay. (damn 8:15am meetings)
But when a military recruit qualifies as a sharpshooter or expert marksman during basic, who presents the medal/ribbon/badge at what time and with what degree of ceremony?
You take it from the previous guy you need to kill to qualify
As I recall, there wasnt a ceremony. The qualification was put in your ‘offical personnel file’, and that authorized you to wear it.
^^^THIS^^^
This was my experience
Can confirm.
When I did Marine Corps Boot Camp at Parris Island – almost no ceremony. The Drill Instructors just handed out your badges. They did congratulate those who shot Expert (I just missed it and made Sharpshooter) and called out a couple of guys who shot particularly high scores. Unless you shot perfect or very nearly so on the Known Distance range, they don’t make a big deal.
You are still nothing except a worthless Recruit for another month and they don’t want you thinking that you’re anything else.
Thanks Drake and Tres, I couldn’t find that detail poking around the internet, so I asked.
In my experience (late 1980s US Army) it was handled at the Battery/Company level with a simple formation, awardees called to the front for a salute/handshake/pinning the medals on. Extra bonus for certain ranks/awards is the blooding – pinning on without backing clips and having everyone in your chain of command come up and punch them into your chest or collar.
Oh, so you did air assault, too.
“Air Assault Badge”, what the Marine Corps calls “Tuesday”
Oh, so that’s why they all call in sick on tuesdays.
Notoriously stingy with the fruit salad.
My battalion commander at MCRD only had 8 ribbons on his stack. The top right-hand one was the Medal of Honor.
When you get an award in the Marines it means something.
Yeah, I’ve always kinda liked that. No “grade inflation” problem in the Marine Corps awards system; at least not widespread. Of course there will always be some field grade REMF who managed to get himself a CAR or purple heart from getting injured while playing volleyball, but generally speaking, if it’s there, it was earned.
UGH… Yeah, Army hands out (or did in the late ’80s – mid ’90s) ribbons like Halloween candy, particularly to junior officers. All of our newly minted 2nd Lt.s were sent off to Ranger school after their 1st year with the unit.
So, the fictional branch in my book, ATOM, which is less well-regarded than the air force and tends to get the dregs of the recruit pool would be morelikely to do what?
If they are less regarded than the “chair force” then they probably hand out ribbons and medals like the USAF. They get ribbons for every fucking thing and make the US Army seem as parsimonious as the British military.
Hell the USAF has medals that the other services lack because there weren’t enough types of fruit salad. (And they got busted handing out Bronze Stars to ground crews who never left Missouri.)

Also the cut sounds exactly like a website for hairstyle investigative journalism.

“she inspired at least one mournful “Hermione got TERF bangs” tweet.”
Given the quality of the people on Twitter, I’m sure you could say this about anyone doing anything.
What can I say? Some girls can absolutely rock the bangs (think Bettie Page) but on others it seems unfortunate. I think Hermione looks just fine.
I think it makes her look like a dude, TBH.

The video is dark and blurry, with cellphone cameras and flashlights flickering
We live in a world where the majority of the population has a high-quality camera on their Android or iPhone, yet so many videos look like they were shot with a soda can held by an epileptic.
It’s insulting.
Right? I can use my phone to see the time on the clock in my truck in front of my house at night with the camera in my doorbell. Get it together, people.
That camera shake is artistic. It takes skill to do that.
“These include Orca, Grizzly, Piranha, The Swarm, Squirm, The Food of the Gods, Long Weekend, Kingdom of the Spiders, The Pack, Ants!, Rattlers, Nightwing, The Bees, ”
Nooooo, NOT THE BEES!!!
Whatever happened to the killer bees? Remember when they were moving through Mexico and into Texas? We were about to be witness to a wave of death and destruction the like of which the world has never seen.
Yet I don’t think I’ve heard the term “killer bees” or even “africanized bees” in a couple of decades.
I thought all the bees died.
They just turned gay
They live at Jimbo’s
That was colony collapse disorder (CCD), the dumbest environmental panic in my opinion. I actually watched an hour PBS show claiming that not only all food crops (which are occasionally intentionally pollinated by bringing in bee boxes, especially certain fruit trees) but all wild plant species are going to stop reproducing because of a lack of honeybees.
Yes, wild New World plants will be forced to rely only on the tens of thousands of insect pollinator species that they’ve always used, because that one Eurasian, introduced species has suffered a 30% population decline (no seriously, they were never in danger of dying out completely). The horror.
Like Africanized bees, ozone holes, the Population Bomb, and Y2K, you just quit talking about it after a while so people don’t see though your bullshit.
“africanized bees” in a couple of decades
Because it is totes racist.
Some bees are more equal than others.

“We understand that assault rifles differ from traditional hunting rifles because their high-muzzle velocity, smaller rounds, modest recoil and high capacity magazines make assault rifles a tremendously lethal tool in a firefight. ”
Ok.
In other words, you don’t understand at all.
“Those of us who have actually served in the military earned our right to handle the military version of these weapons…”
“Michael Diamond served as a military intelligence officer in the United States Army Reserve for seven years”
Big oofs
Mikey is a douche.
What I really got was that the ar isn’t the military version.
So something we should be fine with?
Jeez, more Army reservists. I was in the Army reserves and, more often than should have been the case, was amazed by the low level of martial skills (or interest in same) by the officers and senior enlisted.
One time we were on the range qualifying on our M-4’s and the group of senior enlisted who were loading magazines couldn’t keep up with the demand. I walked over to lend a hand and saw that none of them knew how to properly use the stripper clip guide. They were pushing rounds into the magazines one at a time. I sat down by the pile of empty magazines and loaded them all in about 10 minutes. When you know the proper method it only takes about 5 seconds to load a 30 round magazine.
Christ.

Mayor of Wickhamshire?
Oh wait, I thought you said high-muggle.
And yet we still get no discussion of the tool wielding the tool.
I still love the exchange where Rand points out to the view that these rifiles are popular for hunting.
Also fuck you it’s about self defense and freedom. This is why I don’t take the left seriously about them thinking Trump is so terrible. Because they wouldn’t want him to be the only one with weapons otherwise.
I would use an SKS for hunting, if I had one, which of course I don’t, because they are too dangerous, too lethal, too high velocity and are a weapon of war and should not be in the hands of a civilian, of which I am.
Theoretically, I’ve heard that some people I might be related to picked up an SKS for deer hunting but found that while the carbine length was handy he still preferred the Remington 700 with a nice scope. Although, to be fair, he was a bow hunter at heart.
Also fuck you it’s about self defense and freedom.
This. In the discussions I’ve read about it from the early republic, hunting and sport are hardly mentioned at all, but private citizens defending themselves from tyrants foreign and domestic is mentioned all the time. The people have the right to weapons of war to protect their freedom, because the government cannot be trusted to do so for them.
no arguments here
logic FWIW: some things don’t much get written about because they are so obvious and mundane; I doubt Mickey Spillane ever wrote: “flicking his cigarette aside, he simultaneously pulled out the choked and stabbed the accelerator briefly; the Hudson’s starter labored ten seconds before it caught but heaved effortlessly as he let out the clutch”
Because a traditional hunting rifle is non-lethal?
They’re extra dangerous because they’re less powerful and less accurate.
I dunno man, with a small modification (a 5 round mag) its legal in my state to hunt creatures as large as rabbits with an AR.
In my state you can hunt creatures as large as a Whitetail deer with one.
Question: Aren’t so called assault rifles also particularly useful as defense rifles? And, militarily, what came first? Were they invented to improve the defense’s ability to defeat attackers who had a, say, 3:1 advantage, or invented to give more firepower to attackers with, say, only a 1.5 to 1 advantage?
I guess it depends on the definition. My understanding is that an assault rifle is a select-fire carbine chambered in a small to mid-size caliber. The assault bit comes from the idea that they were intended to be used attacking a position, IOW firing on the move as you assault a trench, say, where battle rifles or something like a bolt-action rifle would be used to give fire from a line or a fixed position. So, the main difference I believe is maneuverability, with assault rifles offering a higher ROF but using smaller rounds.
Popehat, before his brain fell in a lake in a horrible TDS accident, had a great article on this point.

An article, on the internet.
Over at “The Week”, the defense of the establishment leads to odd twists and turns:
Carlson made this claim on his Tuesday show, saying that white supremacy is “right up there with Russia” in terms of problems the United States faces and is “actually not a real problem in America” at all. To back up this argument, Carlson said that every person who is a member of a white supremacist organization in the country could fit inside a single college football stadium. Of course, as CNN’s Brian Stelter points out, this neglects the fact that “men like the suspect in El Paso aren’t ‘members’ of an ‘organization.'”
“This is a hoax,” Carlson claimed. “Just like the Russia hoax. It’s a conspiracy theory used to divide the country and keep a hold on power. That’s exactly what’s going on.”
Carlson’s comments immediately drew backlash, with CNN’s Don Lemon playing the clip on his show shortly after, taking a long pause and then asking his guest, “Was that not the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard”? Conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg also hit back against Carlson and hoped his argument isn’t picked up by President Trump ahead of his El Paso visit. Goldberg wrote, “If Trump apes these talking points, it’ll be awful for the country and devastating for Trump’s presidency.”
Junior college stadium, probably.
It is a fucking hoax.
Maybe we need a new word? I mean, now that we have 1 chick run over by a panicky nut at a protest and a nutjob who supports both universal healthcare and killing mexican immigrants, the word “hoax” will only conjure hostility due to the denial of people’s loss.
But good lord, these nutjobs are few and far between and of no consequence. Absent 2.5 years of constant promotion by the media, I sincerely doubt that we’d be seeing even this meager amount of violence. Remember the rush to “credit” Richard Spencer with the election of Trump and his victory lap where he was able to assemble 200 people for his convention – half of whom were reporters?
“supports both universal healthcare and killing mexican immigrants”
TBF, it could be an effective strategy to keep costs down and shorten waitlist times.
Great… now you just inspired mass killings in Canada!
Fuck Don Lemon. I just heard the exchange he had with that pastor who met with Trump. Can you get more mendacious and sanctimonious?
The moment it’s clear the pastor doesn’t want to Trump Bash he comes gunning for the pastor himself.
“Was that not the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard?”
Don Lemon. Professional journalist.

He obviously took debate class.
These mendacious, lying d-bags are bed for my blood pressure.
Whys is Goldberg hitting back?
It’s going to go down as an embarrassment moment in American history once the liars all die off and cooler heads assess things down the road.
I like how used the term “apes his comments” rather than any other descriptive. Nice work there Jonah.
Carlson’s 100% right, but that’s not good for the narrative that the (man, I’m channeling my grandfather now) liberal media is pushing. Don Lemon is a talk show host posing as a reporter, which describes most people on cable news these days, so it’s not surprising that he’s just popping off one op-ed after another. That he still pretends to be a journalist is disappointing, but not surprising given the utter and pervasive mendacity of the cable news media.

I don’t think he gets short shrift. I was discussed and the programming has a reason.

I agree that it should be read by everyone, but I think Ozzy wants it at that time.

Don’t depend on anyone. The fact they consider this toxic says a lot about them.
What she likely means is that these toxic men should let their women make the decisions for them.
Suffer pain in silence – wasn’t there a recent article about how men no longer have male friends and are a burden to women because they tell them their problems?
Sounds legitimate. I’m a “friend widower” and so are most of the guys that I know. Doesn’t mean you have to be a whiny little bitch.
I don’t know about US manliness but while not being whiny was encouraged, I don’t remember the menfolk round these parts being told to completely suppress their emotions. All men I know show plenty of emotions. Trying to win is important, but always depending on how one wins. Don’t depend on anyone – being mostly self sufficient is a good thing. Don’t do anything that could be construed as weakness – this depends on the situation, in some cases this is warranted.
Mostly this all comes from women who think men should be more like women, but then don’t like it if they actually are… Plenty chicks want a manly man
Nobody is being told that. The whole thing is a fucking hoax.
^^^THIS^^^
^This. It’s people with an agenda taking positive traits often associated with masculinity–self-reliance, rationality, physical bravery–and criticizing the funhouse mirror versions–isolation, suppression of emotion, physical aggression–because those traits make it more difficult to mold and control the people who have them.
The box that toxic masculinity is trying to fit in is not rigid.
Yeah. She needs to wiggle a bit to be fun.
I consider being invaded by toxic masculinity to be one of life’s great pleasures.

But really what they’re saying isn’t exactly wrong(though certainly exaggerated) whether that is a good or a bad thing is where the debate lies imo.
They’re exaggerating it so they can condemn all men. And make society hate all men.

I recently figured out this “doesn’t show emotion” bit which is thrown at traditional males. It isn’t that we don’t express emotion at all. It’s just that we don’t do it the way a female would. We say what we think on clear, short expressions and don’t have to go over it ad infinitum.
We often sometimes prioritize some needs over others – I might not bring up how she loads the dishwasher inefficiently when more than that I need her to stop throwing kitchen knives (which I spend time to sharpen) into the sink with the pots and pans.

Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said this week that he does not welcome President Donald Trump’s condemnation of white supremacy and that the president’s speech condemning the evil ideology was a “catastrophic failure.”
The Trump campaign flagged Booker’s remarks in a tweet on Monday, noting that the leftist senator had called on Trump to condemn white supremacy in March and now says that he does not welcome the president’s condemnation of the evil ideology.
CNN’s Kate Bouldan asked Booker if he welcomed Trump’s condemnation of the evil ideology Monday on CNN, to which he replied, “No.”
Booker went on to say that because during Trump’s speech on Monday Trump did not blame himself for the hateful rhetoric in the country that he was a “catastrophic failure” of a leader.
…..aaaaand right on cue. He pretty much had to make some kind of statement, but we all knew that it wouldn’t appease his enemies. Right now they’re saying his condemnation of Nazis was “incomplete” or a “failure”, in a couple of months they’ll be saying that it was actually a wink and a nod to all his millions of Nazi supporters and a couple of months after that they’ll go back to saying that he’s never condemned Naziism. It must be nice to have an army of PERFESSUNULL JURRNULLISTS enabling your delusions 24/7.
When I told a friend of Trump’s past (all those stories and awards with black leaders) and the fact no one ever uttered a single word about his alleged racism he said, ‘people change’. And when I said he actually seems to be interested in helping inner-cities and blacks as First Steps confirms, he said, ‘people do things to look good and distract’.
Literally. There’s nothing you can say. IT’S ALL CIRCULAR LOGIC.
When Trump announced that the flags would go to full mast on 8/8 after this mourning period, idiots pounced.
The talking point for Trump’s statement being incomplete or a failure is based on his not announcing support for sweeping gun control. It’s ridiculous how lock-step these people are.
How many of those leftist creeps, including Booger, have talked about physically attacking Trump?
You would figure someone in the media would point this out, but of course, the dnc operatives with bylines have no intent to do anything of the sort.
Cunty Booger has a nice ring to it…
SJWednesday: The Noble Savage Still Lives In Our Feminine Hearts
Where’s P Brooks when you need him?
He’s always late.
As men accumulated property and wealth, the need to control who became “heirs” arose
Monogamy arose independent of accumulation of property and wealth because men wanted to have some idea that the effort and resources they were expending were being expended to propagate their own genes, and not some other male’s genes.
Also, “egalitarian society”? Citation needed.
It was equally violent.
Everyone had equal rights. You could take anything you wanted, have sex with anyone you wanted, and do whatever you wanted. And if you were the strongest male in the group you got away with it.
And women needed to keep the man around to protect her and their offspring.
Lots of people want to use their first go in the time machine to murder Hitler. I would go after JJ Rousseau. The Noble Savage lie is at the heart of pretty much all of the horrible Western ideologies in the last two centuries.
Plato has much answering to do as well.
If you get Plato, you wipe out most of the truly destructive parts of Christianity.
I don’t know. I think doing that would require taking out Saul of Tarsus.
My favorite Rousseau quote:
forced to be free
What sort of damaged mind must one have to think that makes sense?
The same one that came up with this:
*swoon*
The same one who dropped all five of his children into a foundling’s home at birth. Yet those of us from the pro individual side of the enlightenment debate are ‘selfish’.
I would consider Rousseau firmly in the Counter-Enlightenment.
“we lived in primarily egalitarian, hunter-gatherer societies…”
No, we don’t actually know that. It’s called the prehistoric period for a reason.
It’s not just the religious with their Garden of Eden; secular progs have the Hunter-Gatherer Period. In both cases Man sinned and was cast out of Paradise.
The complete denial of human nature is amusing, if not a little frightening:
They want to learn moral philosophy by studying a parasitic organism. This may explain some things.
Their moral philosophy is already determined. The hard work comes in finding justification for it.
What a bunch of horseshit. None of that is true.
New age hippie dippy bullshit that sounds deep, but in reality only leads to suffering.
Keep in mind that the author is also very pro-abortion. I guess she can call that “pruning” in her ridiculous ecological metaphor.
Until about 10,000 years ago when agriculture was adopted, we lived in primarily egalitarian, hunter-gatherer societies.
Citation needed. Are there even any egalitarian hunter-gatherer societies around today? Most tribal structures seem to have a hierarchy in them, which is only natural when one considers human nature and the nature of families (from which tribes spring).
We also needed to control labor to work the land, and women and girls became the primary source of labor.
Not even close. No society that succeeded relied on women and girls as the primary source of labor. For much of human history, creating capital required a large outlay of physical labor, which was most efficiently accomplished by utilizing male muscle. Both sexes had to work hard, with effective societies dividing labor in as efficient a manner as possible. Any society that relied on either one sex or the other as the primary source of labor would find itself out-competed by those who shared the burden.
You mean, that thing the left has been trying to deny the existence of for the last couple centuries?
Amazonian hunter-gatherer tribves have been known to murder the entirety of nearby tribes because they were too close. They and the Papuans (who are known cannibals into the 20th century) were the source of all the headhunter archetypes. All have hierarchies. Since animals develop hierarchies in their packs, it’s unlikely any human civilization ever had none.
It was all very egalitarian. I just saw a documentary about it.
Will the Greens and Libertarians Affect the 2020 Election?
Herioin? Does Kim pass the purity test?
*looks up Kim*
I mean it will be the most important election of your lifetimes…
Wait, I thought libertarians were always having purity moments.
I had a “purity moment” earlier this morning, although I prefer to call it the “blessed event.”

No. Next question?
Don’t be cheap when hiring a hitman.
I would not even know where to start looking for a hitman tbh
Bet you can find one in Moldova
That’s because of the self-reliance inherent in your toxic masculinity.
That’s what you get for clicking on TOS comments spam.
True story: My ex-neighbor is in jail for hiring a hitman to kill an ex-employee of his (he owned a few car washes) to collect insurance money. The hitman, of course, was an undercover cop. The wife and kids have obviously moved from the normal-looking suburban house down the street.
Most people don’t know where to find a real hitman, so they end up falling for these stings.
How could you forget Cujo, SF?
I’m never eating here again.
I admit to being focused on the 70s boomlet.
Paris Papaionnou/AFP/Getty In Defense of Sparta
The alt-right and other fanatics of the ancient civilization are distorting history. Sparta can teach us how to rethink liberal democracy.
well minus the slavery, brutalization, and conquests…
Yes what a fab way to live
Hence why individual rights are such a radical idea, much more radical than the communist shitheels that seek to return us to medieval living standards or worse. Our politics and education should constantly refute and demonstrate why this is a horribly bad idea.
“Luckily for us, liberalism won the ensuing conflict. But we ought not make the same mistake Constant did in the nineteenth century and throw Sparta on the dust heap of history. Something in human nature craves more than a sphere of rights, more than promises of nice things and free association. One need neither equate nor endorse the rise of democratic socialism on the left and of nationalism on the right to observe that each demonstrates, once again, that people crave more than individual liberty, full stop. People want actively to participate in the life of a community, too, and our politics ought to answer to that. While we should beware the Sparta myth, we would also do well to emulate the best that culture had to offer.”
It’s true individual liberty differed between the ancients and moderns. It’s true humans do yearn to be part of a community and tribe. But I don’t think being a free individual is mutually exclusive from voluntarily being part of the community. Those communities of the past were usually highly stratified and without thought for personal freedom.
This is what makes America unique. Without the sovereign self you have tyranny by other means. It’s the vehicle and path to a new kind of liberty never attempted.
As for his assertion liberalism triumphed over fascism and nazism. I disagree. Liberalism was already dead by the time those ideologies rose filling in the vacuum. Conservatism probably did more to defeat it than liberalism (classical that is).
WWII was a war between 3 schools of socialists. The National Socialists who prioritized the State and Race and allowed private ownership under State direction, the International Socialists who prioritized Class and insisted on State ownership of everything , and the Third Way Socialists who also prioritized Class and allowed private ownership under State direction. Classical Liberalism died in WWI
So commie shitweasels have always been with us. Imagine that.
Many manuscripts reveal a surprising amount about their makers and owners. One such is this small prayer book, which measures only 130 x 95 mm (part of the book is now Cotton MS Titus D XXVII). According to a note, it was made by Brother Ælfsige for Ælfwine (d. 1057), dean and later abbot of the New Minster, Winchester, one of the richest monasteries in England.
In addition to prayers, Ælfwine’s book contains various other material, such as a calendar, scientific diagrams, devotional images, a charm for catching a thief, the dates of his mother’s, father’s, and siblings’ deaths, texts on divination and even a recipe for treating ulcers (made from nine egg yolks, wine and fennel).

Uh huh, sure.
Look, little lady, do you have a pair of testicles? Those things like to stick to the thigh like rubber cement on a hot day. They gotta breathe once in awhile, get some air, take a look around.

He doesn’t actually believe it.
Of course not. He’s a politician.
I know, I just can’t fathom how someone’s lust for power would be so great that they happily stoop to such vile levels of dishonesty. Most politicians really are sociopaths.

If climate change is making it more dangerous for humans, maybe we should try to invent some type of tool or weapon that can protect us from animals. Maybe something that can kill the animals from a safe distance, and that can allow even the weaker members of society to defend themselves.
Nonsense, their solution is to set up a snake cult and sacrifice people to pythons.
Tactical nukes? Just to be sure.
Peter, you arrogant ass.
Peter Strzok, the former FBI agent who opened the bureau’s Russia probe in 2016 and later became a symbol of alleged “deep state” animus for Donald Trump, is suing the government over his firing.
In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Strzok excoriates the Justice Department and FBI for their handling of his dismissal over a trove of text messages he wrote to a colleague that were critical of Trump. Strzok accuses the president of inappropriately bullying law enforcement officials deciding his fate, raises questions about why his texts were leaked to the media and lambastes the administration for only defending its employees’ free speech rights when they are praising Trump.
Specifically, Strzok’s lawsuit accuses the agencies of violating his First and Fifth Amendment rights by firing him over the texts and then depriving him of due process to challenge his expulsion. And, Strzok argues, DOJ’s decision to give the incendiary messages to reporters before handing them to Congress — generating blaring headlines — was “deliberate and unlawful,” a violation of the Privacy Act.
Has this guy ever held a job in the private sector? I’m not sure how it works in government, but out here, any boss I’ve ever had would fire me in a heartbeat if they found out I was sending that kind of text messages about them.
I want to know who is bankrolling his lawsuit.
I hope his lawsuit gets bounced. But failing that, losing it would be a big humiliation and a deserving end to his relevance.
Obligatory
Not a good look, guys.
Just wait for an available car.
Were they playing “Old Town Road” at the time?
So, if two black cops on horseback were leading a white arrestee, would Shaun King cheer justice?
“Poor judgement in this instance”.
What exactly does that mean?

well at least it wasn’t around his neck, ammirite?
You just know they’ve always wanted to do that.
Eight!? With whom???
I don’t know, I mean, the relative is all up in arms about how hurt she is but I’ll bet there’s some self-loathing involved. It’s obvious she’s not in close contact with this guy if she didn’t find out until she saw the shit on Facebook. I get that he’s homeless, but homeless people generally aren’t also nomads, so she’d probably have known he was in Galveston. If she was that shook up she could’ve done a touch of leg work and found him prior. Galveston’s a city, but it’s not all that big.
Really, one of the cops should’ve helped him onto the horse and gotten him to the station that way if they couldn’t just wait for a car.
I’m not Mr. Officer Safety here, but think through the other iterations:
1) suspect on horse with cop — would be same as suspect riding in front seat of car.
2) one officer dismounts and leads suspect, other officer leads his horse — now what do you do with the other horse if the suspect bolts?
3) one officer dismounts and leads suspect and his horse — now he has two assholes to worry about, suspect has clear access to saddle/horse
They should have just posted up and waited for a car, but other than that, this is the only way to really bring in a suspect when only mounted cops are available.
They should have just posted up and waited for a car, but other than that, this is the only way to really bring in a suspect when only mounted cops are available.
If Red Dead Redemption has taught me anything, it’s that the proper way to bring a suspect in on a horse is to hog-tie them and sling them over the back like a saddlebag. That might not be a good look either, though.

USA Toady Headline:
Donald trump to visit grief-stricken El Paso and Dayton even though some want him to stay away
The obvious implication is that there is nobody in those places who could possibly want him to come. Nobody who isn’t a Nazi, anyway.
NPR was prattling on this morning about how Trump would struggle with his role as “Consoler in Chief” since it was not in his nature to act that way.
Personally, I think he should show up and hand everyone a 38 revolver.
I think we need to get rid of the concept of a Consoler in Chief. The President is NOT a priest king.
I hate it. It’s a fundamentally demoralizing position to be looking to your chieftain for emotional support.
Blasphemy! Say three Hail Barry’s full of grace.
He shows up and he’s insensitive, he doesn’t show up and he’s insensitive. Heads I win, tails you lose.
I was holding out hope that USA Today would stay above the fray. Guess not.
I don’t think there is any reason for a president to travel like this. But since it is a thing now, these people could leave politics aside for a day.
A nation of panicky sheep
In Times Square Tuesday night, video captured people running for safety from the tourist attraction, but the NYPD’s Midtown North district tweeted that the sounds was from motorcycles.
“Motorcycles backfiring while passing through sounded like gun shots,” the NYPD said, adding that it received multiple 911 calls. “… Please don’t panic. The Times Square area is very safe!”
Bridget Siljander told NBC New York that she was coming out of a theater and “there was a big stampede, and people were screaming and crying and climbing over each other.” She was briefly separated from her daughter amid the chaos, she said.
“We were turning around to take a picture in Time Square, and we just see a herd of people screaming and yelling ‘shooter,'” Jade Crowe, who was visiting the popular tourist spot with her family, told NBC News.
“I was freaking out even more just because those two mass shootings that happened earlier in the week — that’s just where your mind automatically goes to,” she added.
At least one pedestrian was injured from a fall while running during the scare, NBC New York, citing police, reported.
I guess it’s completely understandable, with a mass shooting every ten seconds. Millions die every day.
Tourists. SMDH
“Motorcycles backfiring while passing through sounded like gun shots,”
Backfiring sounds loud and sharp, but not like a gun shot.

Never seen that. That was awesome.
How I would act at work if all the governors were removed.
Typical man.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, a Democrat running for president, tweeted after the Times Square incident that: “Times Square is safe and secure, but the panic and fear people felt tonight was all too real. Nobody should have to live in constant fear of gun violence. NOBODY.”
He then urged the news media to stop fanning the flames of unreasoning hysteria, right?
Haha, I crack myself up.
“People are dumb, panicky animals.”
The wisdom of Men in Black?
If you’re in constant fear, wouldn’t being shot be a relief?
Or maybe being well-armed would make you feel better?
This.
No one is talking about all of the people shot being helpless victims. Maybe we should fix the helpless part instead of making everyone helpless.
Keep in mind that gun grabbers don’t give half of a bug’s fuck for shooting victims. Their goal is to disarm the population because they know their agenda will never fly with an armed population.
What gets me is all the people running away from something they cannot identify nor locate. Wouldn’t it make more sense to try to figure out what is going on before trampling grandma?
Herd animals gonna stampede.
Hence why I don’t like crowds, and why I REALLY don’t like crowds full of like-minded people engaging in emotional behavior.
Well, I found just the place for you – There’s three square miles per person
And it’s mid-autumn right now.
I’m guessing there’s a reason for that.
I have a cousin who used to teach in that district.
It’s . . . isolated, that’s for sure.
So what’s he saying, that the panic and fear people felt was totally irrational as Times Square is “safe and secure”? Wow, that’s the first reasonable thing I’ve ever heard him say.
Irrational AND all too real fear. You’re right. That is weird.
Nobody should have to live in constant fear of gun violence.
Anyone living in constant fear of gun-violence is a moron and/or sufficiently propagandized.
To be fair, there are a few neighborhoods about five miles to the north-east of me where I can totally understand why many of the law-abiding folks who have to live there are living in frequent – if not constant – fear of gun violence.
Chicago mayor factchecks Ivanka
“She got the numbers wrong. She got the location wrong. That’s the danger of trying to govern via tweet,” Lightfoot said.
“If they want to help, they should actually call us and ask for specifics, which we’d be happy to share, and we would offer them specific ways in which the federal government could actually partner with us to help address the issues on the ground.
——
“That’s the danger of somebody with a platform and audience that time, that doesn’t know what they’re talking about—and getting the fundamental facts wrong that they could easily figure out, if they had the decency to actually reach out to us if they wanted to be a constructive and engaged partner.”
Lightfoot said she had contacted Trump but received no reply.
“Yes, we reached out once we knew and saw that tweet to say, ‘What are you doing? Why don’t you actually reach out to us ahead of time and spend a moment to get the facts right?'” the mayor said.
“Worst, most violent weekend ever? Nu-uh.”
And I just wonder what Lightfoot means when she refers to “specific ways in which the federal government could actually partner with us to help address the issues on the ground.”?
What could she be looking for?
Take THAT, Trump!
Yeah, Lightfoot thinks she’s scoring points by pointing out Chicago has actually had even worse weekends.
Office prog was bloviating about mass shootings and I asked him why he ignores the weekly ones in Chicago. I think he honestly had no clue what’s happening there.
NPR must skip that beat…
Neutron bomb?
Oh, you mean like when Democrats talk about gun control and completely bungle the technical details of guns that they want to ban?
“Worst, most violent weekend ever? Nu-uh.”
Sweetie, if the correction you are making is that the rather horrific weekend that Chicago just had isn’t even close to the worst one, well, I think that is what they call an “own goal”.
Bravo on the use of that James Earl Jones in Conan GIF. I had to stifle laughter on that one.
Lightfoot’s comments on Ivanka Trump follow her criticism of the rhetoric by President Donald Trump following the shootings.
“What he’s been doing is blowing every racist, xenophobic dog whistle, and when you do that, when you blow that kind of dog whistle, animals come out,” Lightfoot said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
When every single word you hear sounds like a racist dog whistle…
Only racist dogs can recognize the whistle.
You would think the people using the analogy would realize how bad it makes them look.
Rational thought is not their strong suit.
I almost feel sorry for Chicagoans who get to deal with her for the next four years.
This was beneath the kitteh article and is really cool:

Fuck you for tricking me into looking at the picture of Dee Dee Ramone in his not-so-tighty whities.
Hey brother, you take the good with the bad!
My wife probably recites that one to herself every day.
I cant say there is a single greatest beauty of all time because there are so many beautiful in their own way but I can say there are many women that are as beautiful as a woman can get. Harry definitely was one of them in her prime.
Especially when you consider she is 32 in those pics.
Richard Hell. Awesome.
Bang a TERF? I’d need pics, first.
Would Emma Watson all day.
Me, too. She’s not unusually good looking, but hey, the “heart” wants what it wants.
That whole “employER – employEE” relationship is more confusing that I thought, apparently
Following a pair of deadly mass shootings over the weekend, including one at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, a Walmart e-commerce category specialist, Thomas Marshall, posted two memos widely within the company, urging mass action by employees to pressure management to cease the sale of firearms. Now, Marshall claims he and one of his colleagues are unable to access their internal accounts.
“Walmart has completely deactivated our access and accounts. We have been shut out of all systems, essentially ending our jobs without yet firing us,” Marshall wrote to Gizmodo a little after 5pm ET. “We will be seeking legal counsel in this matter.”
A Walmart spokesperson confirmed to Gizmodo that Marshall’s access to company channels had been suspended, saying that “company channels are provided to help associates do their work, and this associate indicated that he was not planning to work today. When he returns to work, he will regain access to these channels, pending a review of the circumstances.”
“What do you mean, I don’t run this place? You have to do what I say. Or else I’ll call the media and tell them you’re being mean to me.”
Awesome! About time these assholes got curbstomped.
Good on Walmart! Seriously, what gives these assholes the idea that the world has to conform to their every whim?
And for the record, it wasn’t “retaliation”. The fact that the Garbage Fire Known as Gizmodo is referring to it as such shows that they’re utterly moronic.
Did the shooter buy the guns at Wal-Mart and then commence shooting? Otherwise, they’re doing just like gun grabbers always do – blaming something completely unrelated.
Besides, Wal-Mart is an FFL and is mandated to do background checks for every gun sale, so that means that no dangerous person can ever get a gun from Wal-Mart, right?
What a dumbass.
I am a little concerned that any response by Walmart to this may be an NLRA violation, though.
Horrifying moment kissing couple plunge to their deaths from a bridge
Maybeth and Hector had stopped on the bridge to kiss after leaving a nearby nightclub just after 1am, according to local media.
Disturbing footage shows the couple leaning against a railing on the bridge, while hugging and kissing each other.
Maybeth, 34, proceeds to sit on top of the metal railing and wrap her legs around Hector, 36.
However she appears to lose her balance and begins to fall backwards, taking Hector with her.
I am not watching that.
Surprise twist, they were apparently professional mountain guides.
pardon me, but do you know the quickest way down to the river ?
“…after leaving a nearby nightclub…”
This explains much. I never leave the house if I have had even a drop.
Also-
In addition to working for Walmart, Marshall is a writer and author of No More Dead Kids, a young adult novel centered around school shootings.
You could knock me down with a feather.
Venezuela, Uruguay, Japan warn citizens about traveling to the US because of mass shootings
Kind of funny, really. The reality is that violent crime in the US is near historic lows.
Shhhhhhhh.
“The US is a chock full of violence and no one else needs to try to get in illegally.”
Totally justified. *Digs into Fugu*
What no mention of the KyoAni fire?
Are we going to get dueling travelled warnings? Let see, the US could issue one for visiting animation offices or maybe a generic one that Japanese construction & practices often do not meet US fire codes.
The list of cities is amusing. I think I’m safer here in Cleveland then anywhere in Venezuela.
I tried reading the TERF article. Honestly, is it me, or do proggies sound like snide high school students? I couldn’t make it all the way through.
I heard something about the Carter/Reagan race this morning. There was always the tin foil hat theory that Reagan made a deal with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the election (probably true). That got me to thinking about Carter. He gave away the Panama Canal, he bailed out the USSR twice or three times…why did he have to bail them out?
Carter, whom so many thought of as a good man, was actually more of a progressive idiot than many give him credit for.
The Soviets had famine. Why did they have famine? Because their agriculture programs were governed by Lysinkoism, the notion that nature and science must conform to the ideals of the regime. The exact same thing can be said of progressivism. It is largely informed by post-modernism which has the same governing premises as Lysinkoism.
This is why the progressives will fail. Again. And again.
Carter, whom so many thought of as a good man,
Honestly, I’ve never really bought the “St. Jimmy” line. He’s a guy who’s always struck me as a vindictive prick when push comes to shove.
And he STILL flaps his gums when the mood strikes, decades out of office.
He was also a cat murderer.
“Gosh, I’m sorry I murdered your cat because he was annoying me by hunting birds at my feeder. But it’s OK, because I buried it and said a prayer, because I’m a good Christian, you know. I’ll get you another one, and if leaves my birds alone I’ll let it live.”
Admittedly, I don’t have much sympathy for people who let their pets wander onto other’s property, but that was a really condescending way for him to put it.
Wow. What a prince.
That’s not true at all. They also had intentionally engineer famine used as a weapon against particular political groups IN ADDITION TO their inadvertent, lysinkoism famines.
It is my understanding that vast, vast tracts of what used to be excellent arable land in central Russia are salted-over wastelands now because of their practices.
Yeah, they are, but when global warming really gets rolling, all the frigid parts of Siberia that haven’t been fucked up will become prime wheat-growing environment.
“Siberian Wheat” has an odd ring to it.
Good beer name, though.
I doubt there was a deal, nothing short of Reagan dying before the election was going to save Carter, and even then Reagan would probably win. You have to remember that newspapers were running articles about how Reagan was going to start WWIII, and his own pledge to rebuild the military. Almost every specific allegation made was disproved, but some people just kept on believing it must have happened. Sounds familiar, eh?
I think the main thing that sunk Carter were gas lines. Waiting in line for gasoline for 24+ hours was a very visible, very painful experience for a lot of people. It was also inexcusable, though in his defense it wasn’t solely on his shoulders.

Nissan will pay $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit brought against it by the family of an 18-year-old killed in 2017 in one of its models that wasn’t equipped with a certain type of airbag.
Ashley Overton of North Agusta, N.C., was driving a 2016 Nissan Versa when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle that veered into her lane. She was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal head trauma as her car rolled over. The lawyer representing Overton’s estate argued that if the car was equipped with side-curtain airbags that cover the window in the event of this type of accident they may have protected her from the fatal injury.
The Versa was the least expensive car on sale in the U.S. and Nissan’s attorney said that it met all federal safety standards at the time, which did not require side-curtain airbags. However, it received a Poor overall crash test rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a four-star rating from NHTSA.
What next?
I suspect the settlement incudes a statement of non-liability by Nissan, and is cheaper than the costs of getting it tossed, versus the risk of a jury who sees a dead teenager and gets emotional.
“We award the defendant ten billion dollars.”
er, “plaintiff”
serial liability: it’s losing respondents all the way down
I’m guessing she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt if she was ejected. Maybe that would have helped…
*shrug*
Same thing I immediately thought, too.
Renault, um Nissan, needs to hire new lawyers.
I usually select the cheapo compact at Enterprise and get a mid-sized anyhow. Well they called my bluff this time and gave me a Versa a few weeks ago. It was tiniest cheapest piece of crap I’ve driven in a long time. I would expect a fast death in any major accident.
Yuck. I always get full size cars for that reason. Lately, though, the cheapest available was an F-150.
I find that the most effective safety device in my vehicle is the one right behind the steering wheel. The most dangerous one is behind everyone else’s wheel.
You installed a Tullock Spike?
I rented one last week too. That POS wobbled horribly at highway speed.
Nissan is fucked now. That’s a short term decision that will haunt them for a long time.
They just put a huge target on their back.
Yes, they really shifted the Overton window with that settlement.
(I feel really bad for writing that, BTW.)

They should have roped up.
Great. Now Stinky Wizzleteats has jumped on the Eric avatar bandwagon. I can’t take two of those in the comment sections. The eating baby one of straff’s was bad enough. ?♂️
Don’t worry, I won’t change.
Who now? That’s Charles Bronson at the end of Deathwish.
Thing 1 is 10 years old and, as yall know, now a bone-a-fied shootist. He and I also read some books together and talk about them. I always steer him to age-appropriate literature with deep moral truths. Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe. Call of the Wild. Etc.
Anyway, we recently read Red Planet together. He loved it. I used it as a springboard to talk about two things – leadership by force vs leadership by moral authority, and why leadership-by-force would want to unarm a population whereas a leadership by moral authority type would want their population armed. From there, I also introduced him to the concepts of the Holocaust an Soviet liquidation of the intelligentsia in eastern Europe, as forms a part of our ancestry.
So anyway, if you are looking for a book to recommend to a late-elementary or middle-school age shitlord-in-training, I recommend this one.
Shit, that rules out anything I wrote. I think the book with the lowest age rating of my set is the most recent one.
Only for this project. He still reads lots of books I recommend just because they are fun. Shadowboy is in the hopper.
Variety is good.
Sounds like you’re doing a damned fine job of parenting.
Nice job, Leap.
Old Man and the Sea
Huck Finn
Ransom of Red Chief
To Build a Fire
The Tell-Tale Heart
Those are all great additions. I generally look for things that are particular to Thing1 where Thing1 is right now. He’s just on the cusp of puberty, he’s been working out for about a year, and he’s using firearms now. That’s a long way to say he’s transitioning from learning “the world is a dangerous place” to learning “you are a dangerous place, too” so we’ve been focusing on that. Red Planet, Call of the Wild, and our next book Wizard of Earthsea, are two prerequisites to Lord of the Flies. After that, Tell-Tale Heart would be a good capstone.
I think I need to reread Old Man and the Sea. I read that as a young and stupid teenager and hated / didn’t appreciate it. I think as an old man I might get a lot more out of it.
I didn’t even when I was supposed to. Bored the living shit out of me.
You might be right about that, though.
make sure he reads all the great socialist thinkers
That’s a short list.
*picks up blank sheet of paper*
Done.
We’ll be reading Orwell before too long.
This was the book that introduced me to Robert Heinlein’s writings. About five pages in I was hooked, and thereafter read anything of his I could get my hands on. I credit the Old Man with influencing me into being a libertarian.
I have to go back for this-
The Versa was the least expensive car on sale in the U.S. and Nissan’s attorney said that it met all federal safety standards at the time, which did not require side-curtain airbags.
Compliance with the law is no excuse!
I wonder what would have happened to that girl if she had been driving a 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle? VW would be heading for bankruptcy.
I live in the Dayton area and can’t help but contrast the coverage/reaction to the Oregon District shooting with this other recent event about a woman who killed a family in an on-purpose wrong-way auto crash.
https://www.daytondailynews.com/news/local/wrong-way-driver-charged-with-murder-for-crash-that-killed-warren-county-family/6frhph8DlrsCeOv3FXHG6H/
Where are the calls for common-sense motor vehicle control or red flag laws for taking away the car of a person who appears to be unstable?
While there was media coverage of the wrong-way crash, it was nothing like the non-stop coverage we’ve been having this week for the shooting. Why are some innocent deaths sensationalized so much more than others?
“Why are some innocent deaths sensationalized so much more than others?”
Some innocent deaths align with key parts of the Lefty agenda and some don’t. For instance, all the dead black men in Chicago and Baltimore… crickets.
Well… when it’s gang on gang violence, they might not be as ‘innocent’ as the bystanders who also get hit.
Counting out the ones actually doing the murdering, I don’t consider those dealing and using drugs to be guilty of anything.
Unfortunately, the genpop does; and besides, they’re just a bunch of animals killing each other, who cares?
Hate to break it to you Q, but there are not specific job titles in gangs, a good chunk of those dealwers who get shot will have been the ones pulling the trigger in another incident.
And users fall into the bystanders already mentioned. Unless they’re trying to hold someone up to finance their next fix. A number of these labels will all apply to the same people, because it’s not as if these are different species of fauna in an ecosystem.
You’re right of course, it’s just a relevant thing to point out since progs constantly crow about supporting and helping minorities and how they support the little guy. Of course all of us here recognize that it’s complete bullshit and only to serve their electoral goals, but if their actions actually aligned with their rhetoric, they’d spend more time trying to improve life for inner-city blacks than on any other issue.
Which part of “we are afraid everyone is as bad inside as we know we are, so we have to make sure we’re the only ones with guns” did you not understand?
So tolerance. Such humanitarian.

“Mom of two white boys here. Getting them to see on a daily basis how entitled they are — all the breaks they get, that other kids don’t, because of how they look or where they are from — is a struggle. I honestly feel some days like it’s a genetic defect.”
What is to be done to solve the WYMALE question? When will a Final Solution be initiated to cleanse the motherland of these genetically inferior beings?!
Now do Chicago, Baltimore, or Saint Louis.
saying that has been deemed officially racist
I saw that particular response yesterday. She actually followed it up with
They aren’t angry, thank god. But they do sometimes come home and have the audacity to start out with ‘It’s not fair…X,Y,Z’ It makes my blood boil. They seem predisposed to believing its some grand conspiracy to keep them down when in reality, the opposite is true.
What kind of sociopath thinks that way about their own sons?
Mom is obviously more involved with her internet virtue signaling than with her kids.
“You’re problems aren’t important, and in fact you are the source of everyone else’s problems.” Does she WANT to produce white terrorists? Because this is a good way to start.
“You’re” OMG SORRY Ted!
Being a rich kid and constantly complaining about minor inconveniences is…literally progressivism. What the fuck is she upset about? She’s raising some fine NPCs
and in the end as strange as it may sound, people worry about their issues, even if somewhere someone has it worse.
shocking theory
Lucky kids there.
Gee whose sons will be filled with resentment toward their own mother and do you think that might contribute to a future urge to do violence? I honestly hopr they take it out on her rather than innocent people but we probably won’t be that lucky.
My sincerest wish is that they find some adult who can give them a tether of sanity while they’re growing up so that they can grow up sane and healthy. And that they opt to leave her to die alone and uncared for in a third rate nursing home.
Frankly, if they leave her anywhere she’s luckier than she deserves. They should leave her to fend for herself completely well before she reaches nursing home age.
I say they send her to Somalia or the Congo so she can reevaluate her concept of privilege.
You know, when I was still in school, I noticed that I was ineligable for most aid or scholorships and various educational programs because I happened to be white and male. So I’m not sure where this woman lives, but it isn’t this world.
if white terrorists are so many let us go into other categories
She if fucking evil.
You know, there is an appropriate way to approach the concept of privilege and opportunity, namely to emphasize that the wasting of potential is immoral. Don’t take all your advantages and piss them away on frivolity, even though that is your right, make something of yourself and be productive.
I know dipshits say stupid shit on the internet, but I really take exception to a mother saying her own sons (!) are genetically defective. When you’re that thoroughly brainwashed, so much so that you have not just contempt but disgust for your own offspring you are capable of supporting almost any atrocity. And there are disturbing number of people that think this way.
I don’t want to Godwin things, but this is Holocaust-style rhetoric. If she’s that callous about her own sons, she must actually consider white men to be subhuman vermin.
white men to be subhuman vermin. – and she hasn’t even met you
My titposts provide unlimited value to the world.
She only considers white men to be that way because it gains her social credit in the current political environment. She’s selling out her sons for her own reputation. Evil, selfish bitch is what she is.
What a nasty woman.
She thinks her own sons are genetically defective because they are white males?
I suspect the day will come when she sees them on the news as mass shooters.
They seem predisposed to believing its some grand conspiracy to keep them down
Affirmative action, anti-male and anti-white propaganda at school, derisive and demeaning treatment of white men in the media. Oh. and their own mother thinks they are genetically defective. Why on earth would they think that?
If this shit keeps happening, white people are going to get fucking fed up and vote for anyone who says they’ll put a stop to it. Is that what the Left really wants??
They still have no idea how Trump got elected.
“Mom of two white boys here. Getting them to see on a daily basis how entitled they are — all the breaks they get, that other kids don’t, because of how they look or where they are from — is a struggle. I honestly feel some days like it’s a genetic defect.”
I think there is some compelling evidence showing insanity is hereditary.
She has a point, though. I constantly have to remind my son how good he has it compared to other kids (kids can’t choose where or to whom they are born)
My main things with terrorists and serial killers and the like is that they are an extreme statistical outlier. Even if white males were more represented, which I doubt, it is such a small percentage it is meaningless. 1 out of 10 million or 2 out of 10 million is the same shit.
The reason white males are overrepresented among the known serial killer population is that the countries that kept better records tended to have majority white populations. China and Korea also have some… prolific entries in the list.
And in all seriousness, how are you going to find a serial killer in the Congo with all the shit that’s going on there?
how are you going to find a serial killer in the Congo with all the shit that’s going on there?
Go to the capital and find out who is in charge.
barely can tell the difference between a random rebel and a serial killer
Exactly. “Serial killer” is a category we rightfully consider monsters to be separated from society. But, I think a lot of people fail to understand that the same qualities we use to categorize someone as such, through most of history, were quite common.
The reality is that these are really, really, unlikely problems. They’re spectacular and get a lot of attention. But, they’re not likely to actually affect the overwhelming majority of people.
I think it’s reasonable to look for patterns as long as it’s done strictly to try and understand motivations. I don’t have stats in front of me so I can’t be sure, but I think there’s pretty strong evidence that Muslims are responsible for the majority of religious terrorism, blacks are responsible for the majority of inner-city gang killings and whites appear to be overrepresented in random mass shootings.
Trying to turn it into a racial thing is stupid since I think it’s driven by culture rather than race, but they are intertwined.
However, if progs are going to take the approach that all white men are responsible for mass shooters, then they also need to say that all Muslims are responsible for jihadi terrorism and all blacks are responsible for inner-city violence.
organized terrorism is a different beast than lone gun stuff though. tho lone gun rando is such a statistical outlier I doubt you can get anything useful pattern wise.
“Muslims are responsible for jihadi terrorism and all blacks are responsible for inner-city violence.”
Both if those are wypipos fault
“I think there’s pretty strong evidence that Muslims are responsible for the majority of religious terrorism”
*CATO analyst comes in with study of terrorism that begins on September 12, 2001*
CATO analyst: Ackshuallly….
worldwide? Afghanistan Pakistan Nigeria Egypt Libya Sudan Somalia
*CATO analyst comes in angry*
CATO analyst: ACKSHUALLY….most of their victims are Muslims so they’re not Islamic terrorist groups, bigot
No joke, this is their stupid rationale
Just because they’re bombing across the myriad schisms within islam does not make them stop being islamic terrorists.
“What’s a Shia?”
a ceramic pet.
They don’t like direct Sunni.
Sharks or mosquitos. They don’t call it the great white skeeter.
And saying whites are more likely to be mass shooters (even if true) doesn’t mean whites are likely to be mass shooters but I don’t expect the irrational to grasp statistics.
Shocking tragedy
“Mom of two white boys here. Getting them to see on a daily basis how entitled they are — all the breaks they get, that other kids don’t, because of how they look or where they are from — is a struggle. I honestly feel some days like it’s a genetic defect.”

Initially, RePlanet went into business to give Californians a place to redeem the $1.5 billion they spend on redemption fees for bottles, cans, plastic. But they never took full advantage.
In reality, they only claimed about half of that money back. With prices for recycled material dropping, they didn’t generate enough to keep RePlanet in business.
“Well it is the fault of the state,” said consumer advocate Liz Tucker from Los Angeles. “The state has an obligation and also millions of dollars it can use to educate consumers about their options'”
RePlanet’s failure was inevitable, Tucker says, because consumers never knew enough about the incentives, or spent enough in deposits, to care about claiming their redemptions. Instead, most of us tossed those recyclables in the trash, and let our local collectors get the money.
“This hurts recycling in California. It hurts consumer pocketbooks. It increases litter.”
People value their time too highly to dig through trash? There oughtta be a law.
The State must educate those heathens, and convert them to the One True Faith.
all the breaks they get, that other kids don’t, – well except other white boys right? And I very sincerely doubt white boys have it easier than white girls.

“Ray McGovern on ‘Deep State-Gate’”
There’s a reason why the corporate press shut-up about Russia Fever Dreams and has moved on to “much diverse”. The story is even weaker now than it was before, especially since a judge has recently concluded that there is no evidence to suggest that Russia stole Hillary’s e-mails.
You weren’t expecting a mea culpa were you?
Oops- fucked up the first part of my quote above: Should be:
California’s biggest chain of recycling centers has closed all its locations.
RePlanet ran nearly 300 recycling centers statewide, including in San Francisco, Alameda and San Jose.
They closed suddenly on Monday, leaving 750 people without jobs.
It’s unfathomable.
I have the sneaking suspicion that Nan Whaley, the Dayton mayor, has plans to use her recent media coverage due to the shooting as a springboard to higher office (a la Rudy Guliani). I swear I see her smirking during interviews.
1 out of 10 million or 2 out of 10 million is the same shit.
Statistics show white male serial killers have doubled in number!
Leap- have you and the kid read The Once and Future King, yet? As I recall, it was excellent.
Can’t remember too much pro-collectivist slant.
Tap the brakes there sport. I’m trying to raise classic liberal shitlord (regem desolatum liberalis) not a neoractionary shitlord (regem desolatum motus).
But yeah that’s great took. Might need to wait a few more years. Like I said, he’s on the cusp of puberty, and I think this book needs to wait until he wants to touch a boob or else he’s not going to understand a lot of it.
There’s a reason I never selected “white” on any job application or school application. And it’s not because I felt privileged. My kids may need to discover their native American heritage, a la Warren, if this shit keeps up.
I remember at my old job, several senior managers were bitching that the new regulatory VP was another “old, white male”. Could you imagine that being said about any other race? They would be fired so fast, but instead their racism was applauded.
Another manager, who was a good friend of mine, confided that HR gave her 8 candidates that she had to choose from (over qualified 100 candidates applied). All 8 candidates required by HR were technically qualified, but none were particularly strong or competitive. Coincidentally, they were all the same female minority persuasion as the HR recruiter. My manager friend was furious that her hiring pool was arbitrarily restricted, but was concerned she’d be slapped with the RACIST label if she asked to see the other candidates.
Why is HR involved at that stage? HR should not be consulted until onboarding begins.
HR had to approve all job listings and then screened all applicants. They chose which ones the hiring managers would interview. I think its industry standard. I went through HR interview screening at all the jobs I applied to before getting a second round with the actual hiring manager.
They should not be choosing which resumes the hiring managers get to see – HR does Not Know Enough to judge them.
Hah hah.
Good one.
“HR should never be consulted”
FIFY.
Honestly, I’ve never gotten a competent candidate out of HR.
These people live in bizzarro world, because in this one, white people in general, and white males in particular, are constantly demonized and denigrated and criticized solely based on their race.

And in local to me news, Ohio has had their first brewery sell to ABIn-Bev: Platform brewing (known to those who received BIF packages from me). If I had to guess for a brewery to sell out, they were not at the top of my list.
I’d sell out if I could 🙁 .
I’ll never sell out.
Because no one is buying.
I’m sure someone will buy his porn project.
Sell out = Succeed at life.
1) Keep on with the stresses of business ownership to keep the purists happy.
2) Take a big fat paycheck to enable yourself to live a comfortable life (relatively) free of money worries.
Uh, yeah. Option 2 please.
I don’t fault the owners for getting the big payday, even if it does mean that I’m going to stop supporting the business. AB In-Bev has done enough shady shit in the beer world that I prefer not to support them (secretly purchasing a ratings site, pay for tap handles, purchasing entire hop harvests, etc.). It also pisses me off that that’s a huge chunk of retail space (where the real battles are now) that’s going from craft to AB In-Bev (based on the current distributions in local stores).
