My younger son turns 4 tomorrow. Four. I no longer have toddlers in my house. Just tiny, opinionated people who have mood swings like drunk people on pills. So happy birthday to the T-Wrecks, my little space invader. No seriously, he’s like a cat. As soon as you sit down, he wants to drape himself all over you. Four years ago about now, we went by the hospital and they sent us home, then we went to pick up a “going home” infant outfit because he obviously wasn’t waiting for September. At 5:00 the next morning, Mrs. L told me she was pretty sure it was time to go. Me: “are you like, super sure? Could I go into work first and do a couple of things?” By the time they got her situated and the nurses did a “test push”, he was ready to eject. I had to drop our older son off with a friend and come back, while the nurses went for the doc. I got back, she pushed, and we had another tiny human.
On the links front, OMWC put up about 5 days worth of links, including some replays of mine from yesterday, so I’ll see what I can find here…
I’m told that this sort of thing only happens in capitalist horrorshows, not enlightened socialist paradises.
Names are being named now that Jeffrey Epstein is going down.
A bank in Denmark is going to offer 20 year mortgages at zero interest, ten years at -0.5%. I imagine that the origination fees and such must be incredible.
The major question about this proposed German ‘meat tax’: At what rate is long pig taxed?
..and Youtube is giving me the fuckoff again, so bring your own music.
“A 20-year-old man with Down syndrome was carrying a toy gun when he was shot dead by Swedish police in Stockholm on Thursday, according to CNN affiliate Expressen.”
That’s retarded.
So American cops are now training the Swedes?
My oldest Grandson turns 11 tomorrow! Happy day!
Our kiddo turned 18 in May!
So outta the mines, and onto the streets?
mood swings like drunk people on pills.
Or like wives on their period?
/ducking
And wive’s never stop laving periods, they just become ‘dry’ periods and called different things, like menopause. True story, brah.
Naw, believe it or not, it eventually ends. Persevere bra
“Virginia Giuffre, who says that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to powerful people for erotic massages and sex, claimed in depositions in 2016 that Maxwell directed her to have sex with former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Britain’s Prince Andrew (whom she has accused before), wealthy financier Glenn Dubin, former senator George Mitchell, now-deceased MIT scientist Marvin Minsky, and modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, as well as “another prince,” a “foreign president,” a well-known prime minsiter” and the owner of a “large hotel chain” in France.”
Not Marvin Minsky!
Maxwell looks like she’s a rapist. Convict!
Bill Richardson… That’s getting close to the Clintons. I bet Epstein might attempt suicide again real soon.
+1 double-tap
But seriously I am not holding my breath that anything major will come of it. Luckily I will get to be pleasantly surprised if some people are actually held accountable for whatever crimes they committed in association with him.
With the many people insisting they can prove via airline schedules they weren’t there, I almost suspect a plant. Mainly because of how his first sentencing went down. The conspiracy theorist in me is saying she’ll be discredited.
Yeah, I’m starting to wonder that too. Something isn’t quite right.
Same here. This is a single witness who I think has real credibility problems. I mean, Dershowitz? Really?
Bill Richardson I absolutely think could have been involved in this. Incredibly corrupt former Governor of NM. Pater Dean knows people who know people there, and they tell stories of suitcases of cash being handed over for favors, and of prositutes being routinely arranged.
But, falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.
The real action, I think will be from whatever they found in his safe. Especially if they can get access to his safe in France.
“Pater Dean knows people who know people there, and they tell stories of suitcases of cash being handed over for favors, and of prositutes being routinely arranged.”
This is a time-honored tradition in New Mexico, no matter to what party a politician belongs. Nobody really even tries to hide it. Well, they didn’t used to, but maybe things have changed in the woke era.
Yep. Dershowitz wrote a pretty good pre-buttal to what he knew was coming out. I don’t care much for the guy, but his rebuttal paints the picture of someone who is not credible. I think her story’s going to fall apart on close inspection. I don’t know what that means for the broader investigation because I damn sure believe *some* of it is true, or maybe I should say, I believe the broader allegations that Epstein was pimping out underage girls and that some of his powerful friends partook. Exactly who, where, when, etc.? I don’t know; I have an open mind about the details… I’m willing to be convinced.
I read an article making the claim that Epstein’s wealth and money-making powers are pretty unaccounted for? not credible?
He’s not some financial whiz, and the speculation was that the real source of his moolah was blackmail from his pedo ring.
I read that article too. Some pretty powerful evidence.
Taylor Swift, is not very bright:
I ask her, why get louder about LGBTQ rights now? “Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male,” she says. “I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of. It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze. Because my mistakes are very loud. When I make a mistake, it echoes through the canyons of the world. It’s clickbait, and it’s a part of my life story, and it’s a part of my career arc.”
So Brave much wokeness, and she’s aSTAR!
“Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period. And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”
https://twitter.com/KidRock/status/1159850492874375168
At this point Kid Rock is far more Nashville that T Swizzle.
Wasn’t it, oh, less than a year ago that she was halfway to Nazi-town because she wasn’t all politics, all the time like every other fucking celebrity?
Look what you made her do.
coping with stupid laws
He even has a place in Nashville. It’s actually not that great of a place, but if you’re on Broadway you can’t miss it.
Though Swift has a house in Nashville and a mural.
because she wants to be in movies
That’s a stupid take. If Swift wanted to be in movies, should could probably just buy a fucking studio, girl’s got some dough.
Are you casting doubt upon the reasoning abilities of noted public intellectual, Kid Rock?
Hollywood has one conservative/Republican A-list celebrity: Clint Eastwood. Why is it surprising that Swift didn’t want to strive to become the second one?
I will not stand for this slander of Mario Lopez’s career, sir!
Who?
This guy.
Well, until I listened to Kid Rock, I didn’t really get Wittgenstein.

“Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male,”
I love me some TSwizzle, but she needs to stick to writing awesome pop tunes because that is weapons grade dumb.
Like, OMG – you’re not kidding.
“Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male”
Citations needed, or STFU, cunt.
My wife had on one of her musics videos on YouTube. The entire video was of a bunch of white, hillbilly rednecks screaming at a diverse group of gay people. I asked why it couldn’t just be gay people having a good time? If there had to be a group screaming at them, why not also include elderly church-going black ladies and Muslim men among the screaming rednecks?
The wife now complains that she can’t watch it anymore because I ruined the video by pointing that out.
“It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze.”
See, even she admitted that it’s a minefield. But she’s popular and they need her so she won’t get dinged on that. Yet.
Meh. She will either a) completely assimilate for survival, b) decide the safest course is to stay out of politics completely (if ALLOWED to), c) become a rabidly pro-Trump supporter, D) just retire- she’s got the benjamins, and who needs the hassle?
I’m no fan of her music, but that’s hardly the point. She’s a young lady with incredible talent who should be making her music in peace. IIRC, she stepped up and unwisely offered an opinion some time back, and thus committed herself to the battle. Maybe I’m wrong and the press is just insisting on her opining. Either way, she should be allowed, like the rest of us, to simply retire from the battlefield and demur.
Perhaps the young lady has learned something about the cool kids.
I don’t suppose she had any citations or examples…
“Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male,” she says.
Batshit crazy.
PR move.
Gotta keep those sales up. It just says to me that she’s willing to compromise her personal principles, whatever they may be, for cash. Which is unfortunate, because she at least appeared to stay above the fray for a while there, even if her music sucks.
“Gotta keep those sales up.”
I don’t think there are any more sales. Who buys music? Subscription or gtfo
*raises hand*
I want to own my music, not rent it and watch it disappear some day.
Same here.
I may subscribe to some services, but refuse to for music.
Meh. The classics are public domain, and the new bands will give out their stuff for free. I never, ever, pay for information. Information wants, like all of us, to be free.
I’m not going to pay some production company for producing acoustic pink slime.
When in doubt, triple down.
Castro, dodging the questions of whether his brother was attempting to intimidate Trump supporters as well as the question as to the motives for his brother’s actions, pontificated, “Let me also be clear: He did not put down anybody’s private information; he did not put down their addresses; he did not put down their phone numbers.”
A reporter pushed, “But he singled them out, Mr. Secretary.”
Castro continued his deflection: “What he did is not doxxing; anybody who understands what doxxing is knows that that’s what — he did not do that, all right? What he did was he put forward publicly available information that was already out there. “
Then Castro ignored the fact that some of the donors were furious at the attempt to intimidate them; he turned to attacking President Trump: “The right wing wants to make this a story because they want to pretend, like in some way that’s equivalent to the hate and division that Donald Trump is fostering in this country. It is not. I guess, what Donald Trump wants, is that he wants these donors to be secret. He doesn’t want you to know that they’re donating to him.”
A reporter pointed out, “Do you know that they’re donating to you too?”
Castro repeated, “He doesn’t want you to know that they’re donating to him because that’s inconvenient for him. Maybe he believes that these people are embarrassed that they’re donating to him.”
Christ, what an asshole.

My default assumption when encountering a politician is that they are:
a) feral,
b) very dangerous,
c) cunning,
d) abysmally stupid, and
e) psychopathic
I’m sure there are occasional exceptions to the stereotype. However, it’s better safe than sorry! Assuming any politician you meet has all of these qualities until they have proven otherwise is prudent.
Of course, you can’t really tell if a politician lacks one of these qualities absent a long sustained track record of observation. In my humble opinion, if a politician behaves honorably for 75 – 80 years, it’s probably safe to go from DEFCON 1 to DEFCON 2 in their presence.
“My default assumption when encountering a politician is that they are:
a) feral,
b) very dangerous,
c) cunning,
d) abysmally stupid, and
e) psychopathic”
I’m gonna dispel a few myths, a few rumors. First off, the retarded don’t rule the night. They don’t rule it. Nobody does. And they don’t run in packs. And while they may not be as strong as apes, don’t lock eyes with ’em, don’t do it. Puts ’em on edge. They might go into berzerker mode; come at you like a whirling dervish, all fists and elbows. You might be screaming “No, no, no” and all they hear is “Who wants cake?” Let me tell you something: They all do. They all want cake.
Anyone who runs for political office in order to better their community is by default some kind of sociopath.
Exactly this.
Why are donations public record, anyways?
I’m happy that I don’t have enough money to donate enough to get on a list (and it’s not like I have many politicians I want to donate to anyways).
I would imagine it’s in order to enable the exact behavior Castro is exhibiting.
I want to know to whom politicians feel beholden.
I thought it was always (((them)))
Other than that, of course.
And others want to know who to threaten, intimidate, and assault.
Granted, knowing who is paying politicians is very important, but the threat of retaliation for supporting one was much less in the past. At some point, if contributors are doxxed and threatened etc., I think the right to privacy may outweigh the interest in disclosure. We’re not there, but when the mandatory disclosure was passed, people weren’t acting like feral fanatics, either. The equation is changing.
It wouldn’t matter if they stuck to what was Constitutional.
Wasn’t there a court ruling years ago that shielded the name of contributors to the Communist Party’s candidates? Gus Hall and the folks were concerned that public naming would lead to retaliation by employers, to death threats, and to shunning. In today’s climate of hate, one can imagine all the parties asking for the same consideration the commies get.
But this is different because of Trump. That makes it okay.
I think there’s a threshold based on donation amount.
A reporter pushed, “But he singled them out, Mr. Secretary.”
He’s not the Secretary of anything, you little ass-kisser. That’s a job title, not a hereditary fief.
“He said it mad “no sense” that meat was taxed at seven per cent while oat milk is taxed at 19 per cent.”
Well, that’s true.

Global warming will kill us all in [pick random number], and Donald Trump is literally Hitler. We’ve finally found that ‘Theory of Everything’. Poor Einstein, if only he could have lived to see it.
I still haven’t heard a coherent explanation for why the 60 million buffalo that roamed the American plains in the 1800s were safe for the environment, but somehow bovines became a major global warming threat once domesticated. To be fair, there are more cattle in existence today (~90 million in US), but I think it’s close to a wash when the greater size of buffalo are accounted for.
I can only chalk it up to Gaia good, Man evil.
This afternoon, there was much blather by some commentators about their plans to use vehicles constructed from vintage 1960’s super technology to dominate the world.
I strongly encourage all of them to give up on this foolish dream. Because nothing… I mean nothing… can defeat my nuclear powered mobile oppression palace.
Behold… THE SIDEWINDER!!!!!!!
Watch as is tears through a rainforest uprooting trees and terrifying wildlife!!!!!!
Your puny Sidewinder is no match against my Landmaster!
Hah! Mine has much bigger guns… with longer range… and amazing radiation shielding. Don’t worry… your death will be so swift as to be painless.
Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a jungle is insignificant next to the power of Jan-Michael Vincent!
It’s time to michael down your vincents…
No longer true. At this point, all Jan-Michael Vincent can do is hop around on his one remaining leg clutching his liver. The sidewinder could defeat him easily.
In death, Jan-Michael Vincent has become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Swalwell said, “We are undergoing I would call it an impeachment investigation. I don’t think there is really a difference and what the chairman has said is that there is a number of remedies for the president’s conduct, of course, the most extraordinary is impeachment and we are considering that and as we make our case to the court about why all these witnesses and evidence is necessary, we are telling them we need this evidence, we need these witnesses because one of the considerations is impeachment.”
He continued, “I just had a town hall last night and almost every single person who stood up and spoke wanted to know when this president is going to be held accountable and I imagine that is true across America right now.”
He added, “They know the reality but they don’t want the Senate to be as one person told me let off the hook. Meaning don’t prejudge what the Senate is going to do and just give them a pass and then Cory Gardner, Martha McSally and Susan Collins don’t have to go on record and say how they will hold this president accountable or not. We shouldn’t prejudge what they do. We should put the case forward. If you put the case forward, Donald Trump doesn’t look better. You don’t walk away from a House impeachment and say he should be nominated for the Noble Peace Prize. He’s going to look like a corrupted president.”
I agree that House Dems should pursue impeachment. If Drumpf is the terror that that they claim, the optics/politics should not matter.
I would call it an impeachment investigation. I don’t think there is really a difference
As I understand it, the big difference is that there are no Articles of Impeachment being considered for the House to send to the Senate, so this is just a committee hearing, with on legislation on the other side, just posturing and speechifying.
This is exactly how my “leftist” friend feels. He’s pissed because the Democrats are to cowardly to do what they say is necessary for the country.
I can hardly think of a more effective way for the administration to get the Dem’s coup attempt out in the open in such a fashion that voters might actually pay attention to it.
almost every single person who stood up and spoke wanted to know when this president is going to be held accountable and I imagine that is true across America right now
Hah.
He will be held accountable in Nov. 2020. Swalwell may not like the results. Then, if they hold the house and gain the senate, they can try again.

Because it contains Donald Trump, the entire universe is now cancelled.
Does this mean they’ll shut down all of NYC, Washington DC and Florida? If so, I could be talked into this plan.
Let’s keep this circular firing squad going baby!
So an actor, who’s name reminds me of jock itch, is biting the had that could one day feed him?
You mean Marvel? They won’t touch Hammer with 100000000 foot pole, not after the money Disney lost on The Lone Ranger.
I actually liked The Lone Ranger. Feel free to @ me.
I like parts of it. The narrative was wonky and meandering and they fouled up the comedy because neither character was actually a straight man, you can’t have two comic relief characters work together like that. Also, I’m a Lone Ranger fan and wanted to see some classic cowboy fun and it was lacking in that department.
Armie Hammer
Yeah, I’m sure this asshole got his acting career out of raw talent and not because of any family connections. You know, I don’t mind anyone inheriting a shitload of money. Or even getting a job in the family business out of nepotism. But, when an asshole like that wants to play holier than anything, he can go f**k himself.
Its weird that they don’t mention that Armand “Armie” Hammer IV is great-grandson and namesake of an oil baron.
He’s named after baking soda.

Boston Sports Club has a convenient location next to me. From time to time I entertained an idea of joining it. I guess now it’s unlikely I’ll go there.
The thing is that these boycotts only serve to market the company. I’ve found no evidence that they are effective.
Meh. I’ve got no problem with it. It’s a pretty good marketing move.
For sure. Just like the “Jews are not welcome here” sign was in 1938 in Germany.
That’s … a bit far. IMO of course.
A few days after Charlottesville a local “alternative” weekly had this on the front page:
ATTN: NAZIS, WHITE SUPREMACISTS, FASCISTS, NATIONALISTS, STEVE BANNON, RIGHT-WING TROLLS, TRUMP SUPPORTERS, RACISTS, BIGOTS, SEPARATISTS, AND ALL OF YOUR PATHETIC FRIENDS. GTFO!
-SINCERELY, BOSTON
A stack of newspapers was prominently placed at the entrance to a local restaurant.
It was a couple of days before a planned free speech event at the Boston Common that was demonized by the local authorities (Mayor and Governor (R)) who assembled a mob to intimidate the participants.
That incident was what shook me to my core.
The rally that Mayor Walsh characterized as ‘white-supremacist’ included a guy running for the NH state legislature on a Black Lives Matter platform and the pastor of a Unitarian Church in a Boston suburb.
And instead of the local journalists doing any investigation and outing the mayor as a liar, the news media refused to publish the protests of the victims of the mayor’s libel.
And moreover a huge mob marched in protest. Among my facebook ‘friends’ not a single person did any investigation before proudly joining the mob. And it wasn’t a peaceful march either. Anti-fa was throwing rocks at the speakers.
That was the point where I realized that people whom I had gone to high school with, who had read ‘Night’ and ‘Black Boy’, who had discussed pogroms and been handed one of the finest educations one could get in Boston, would go brown-shirt in a heartbeat.
It’s why I don’t socialize with them anymore. I really hope that in the coming years, they’ll forget I exist.
So basically Boston wants to be the home of both the Revolution and the Counter-Revolution.
It’s like Meow-schwitz in there!
Go ahead and join it.
Seriously! Think about tit. If you are picking your workout place based on politics, how committed are you to working out?
The losers who decide to quit soul-cycle over this will march into BSC, purchase an annual contract, and within a month stop showing up because BSC is just as inconvenient next month as it was when they failed to sign up in the before-times.
Basically, the boycotters will be subsidizing your workouts.
I don’t want to give my money to the people who spread the notion that it’s normal to ostracize half of the country. And maliciously lie about them.
Go ahead people, make everything in your life about politics, AKA how to become lonely and miserable. Got a pretty lady paying you some attention to you but found out she said something nice about Trump? Insult her and make sure she never comes near you again! Got some friends who are sympathetic to Trump? Tell them to get the fuck lost and stop hanging out with you! Then you find out that the friends you have left never really liked you anyway, but only hung out with you because you are signaling the same shit you are signaling? Become lonely and miserable, become a hoarder, maybe even transition and become a cat lady!
I used to be a member of the NY Sports Club (they’re part of the same chain). They were okay, but the last couple of months I was there, they were growing increasingly dingy.
They don’t seem to realize that gyms make their money on people who join and never show.
I did find Michael Moore’s tweet about this pretty funny and self-aware:
“That’s it. I’m cancelling my SoulCycle membership!”
I got your meat tax right here you freakin’ commies.
I get little ‘news’ memos from some of my client’s companies all of the time. It’s all straight up opinion and it’s all left wing, all of the time. According to these ass clowns, there are only 2 solutions to everything, tax and/or ban. That is it, they have zero ideas outside of that. They’e even dropped the ‘educate people’ thing completely.
Bump his margin up on the next sale.
A winning strategy.
Bullock said, “As a gun owner myself, as someone who’s had to lower the flag nine times since the Vegas shooting, as someone with a child who (in their) first week of school had to learn where to go in the case of an active shooter, gun owners want to make sure that families are kept safe.”
He added, “If gun owners finally stand up — and the vast majority of Republican gun owners even think we need universal background checks — then I think we can make progress.”
On June 23, Breitbart News reported Bullock’s statement that it is time to view guns as a “public health issue.” He told Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace, “I have been both a supporter of the Second Amendment and I’ve also vetoed bills that I don’t think make sense. I’ve had to lower the flags five times just since Parkland. I think if we ever looked at this as a public health issue, and not a political issue, we could make strides.”
Wallace noted that Bullock also supports a ban on “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines.
“Constitution? What Constitution? What we need is commonsense solutions that everyone already agrees on!”
Next month:
“It’s time to finally take hate-speech seriously as the public-health issue it is.”
Guns as a public-health issue is both mission creep and a sign of the tremendous progress made in dealing with public health issues in the last 100 years or so.
Right now they’re too focused on this red flag warning to grab more guns. ‘Red flag alert, we found out he posted a link in support of Trump! Grab those guns!’.
They’ll get to that thought, it’s not like they haven’t already thought of it.
I’ve got a “common sense” solution here. How about this, law optionality. Bullock’s gun law will get a two-year trial run. If the national homicide rate isn’t a full percentage point lower at the end of that time, he gets the boats. Surely, since his laws are “just common sense”, he should have no problem with this, since the boats will only ever be hypothetical.
I don’t know about that. Police state laws and tactics can and do work to reduce street crime. It’s the downstream effects that are a killer. Especially since government killing is not included in crime statistics.
Point taken. That said, the homicide rate is already so low, I’m skeptical even that would cut the rate a full percentage point.
I foresee a whole bunch of number massaging to arrive at the desired figure.
“Bullock said, “As a gun owner myself”
Yeah, and you also make more than anyone else on the internet and want higher taxes. Shove it.
Even banning all gun sales from now on will not stop these types of events from happening.
Currently meat in the country has a reduced tax rate of seven per cent but the Social Democrat party and the Greens are arguing that this should increase to the standard 19 per cent
Go fuck yourselves.

Screw that, I don’t trust private companies with their snooping and I trust the gubmint even less.
She should just cut to the chase and offer everyone a million dollars each to vote for her.
Why do I doubt that $85BB is close to enough to convert the entire internet infrastructure, down to the last mile, to fiber?
Even if private industry were to do it. With government letting the contracts and paying the bills, you’ll probably need another zero.
Meh, For Warren only Blue areas really count and they are universally urban, and likely have better than 95% fiber coverage now. The expense would come extending the lines out to those deplorable rural white supremacist types, and she will handle that by relocating them to special educational opportunity zones.

I live in Tucson. I don’t have fiber. In fact, I don’t know anyone who has fiber to their house, except Pater Dean, who paid some guys to put a tap in for him when they were running a fiber trunk line down the highway next to his house.
There’s fiber to the home in Tucson.
Parts of Tucson. Didn’t mean to imply that it’s universal. Or anywhere close.
Poked around for maps. The only one I found shows that parts of the Foothills (the rich neighborhood) have it.
I live in the middle of a large city and fiber is building-by-building. My building doesn’t have it. The next block over, they do.
More than that in Tucson but here really aren’t any maps, or at least publicly available. You just have to qualify specific addresses with the usual suspects.
Really, customers don’t care about the method of delivery, they want Internet. They care about price, speed, reliability, and quality. And pretty much in that order. Lots of fiber to the home customers will opt for speeds way way less than the maximum offering.
You’re correct. It’s not even close.
Not only that, it would totally swamp existing levels of material and personnel. The waste would be enormous.
Hope you didn’t draft AB in your FF league…
Well, he’s 30 years old. I mean, yeah, he still looks pretty good, but he’s nothing like he once was, he’s lost a great deal of speed and illusiveness. But hey, it’s the Raiders, they love spending tons of money on players near the end of their careers.
He boiled his feet in a cryo chamber too. He seems to be cracking up.
It’s what Raiders do. ALL HAIL THE GRUDOCK! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
He wants to wear his Steelers helmet? That’s dumb.
No sense of color coordination, huh?
“Brah, you play for the Raiders. You can’t wear a Steelers helmet.”
“I QUIT. YOU’RE JUST TRYING TO KEEP THE BLACK MAN DOWN!”

I want the hat
Imagine being this guy:

And I’m not a violent person.

Now, that sounds like a red flag.
Dammit
a) projection
b) He’s going to make me in favor of red flag laws.
A Marine infantryman who admits to wanting to ” lay waste to everything on the range” isn’t a violent person? Cool story, brah.
The rest of his feed is just as insane.
Is he actually a Marine, or does he just play one on Twitter?
That’s my question. If he is, he doesn’t have any friends.
“Every other time I’ve had an AR or AK in my hands, and was getting ready to shoot in an unsupervised setting, I’ve wanted to lay waste to everything on the range.
And I’m not a violent person.
Image that. It’s almost like every time I play video games, I want to kill every pixel I see. Amazing I haven’t went on a homicidal rampage in real life. Just amazing. I must be the world’s most restrained person.
He’s a liar and an asshole.
:eye roll:
And yet you, as unstable as you obviously are, have refrained from killing people.
I’ve heard it theorized many times that one reason some (not all) progs are so anti-firearm is because they recognize they are temperamentally incapable of safely owning a gun and erroneously put that belief on everyone else too.
It’s difficult to disagree with the notion that some of the most outspoken gun grabbers are batshit crazy and shouldn’t be trusted with anything more dangerous than a soup spoon.
Scott Adams once proposed banning Democrats from owning guns, for this reason and also because of all the crime in Democrat cities.

Unsurprisingly, rightwing trolls are taking my words out of context.
Nah, jerkoff. They can read.
“Every other time I’ve had an AR or AK in my hands, and was getting ready to shoot in an unsupervised setting, I’ve wanted to lay waste to everything on the range.
And I’m not a violent person.
One of these things is not like the other.
The gun is what dun it I tells ya!
Unsupervised settings? Hell, joes have jockeyed with each other to start range fires during qualifications.
Can confirm. In my unit it was an unspoken rule that anyone who started a fire and caused us to sit around doing nothing for the rest of the day was marked down as shooting “expert” that day.

And, of course, they did nothing about the account belonging to the person actually shown screaming threats.
Yeah, seriously. Allowing law abiding citizens to exercise their rights via Constitutonal carry makes no sense, if you let the cops tell you what to do.
Fuck off, Bullock.
I think if we ever looked at this as a public health issue, and not a political issue . . . .
Whether something is a “public health issue” is entirely political, asshole.
Is your “public health issue” caused by a pathogen? If no, go fuck yourself.
wdalasio- thanks for that Quillette link about the cultural revolution, this morning. Utterly horrifying.
It’s weird, but I don’t remember much discussion about that, in my college political science classes back in the mid ’70s.
It was every hardcore lefty’s wetdream. Humiliate, desroy, and kill anything and anyone the least bit traditional.
I didn’t read that Quillette article. I should do that.
Related, I recommend “Life and Death in Shanghai”.
I read the Quillete article. Thanks wdalasio!
Also related, someone, I think HM, mentioned a while back the movie “To Live”. I watched it based on the recommendation. Part of it takes place during the Cultural Revolution. It’s a good movie.
Slab Cabin Run is OK.
Here at the Atlantic, we’re doing our part to stoke fear, uncertainty and dread.
The United States has witnessed nearly 2,200 mass shootings since the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive, more than 250 of which took place this year alone. And while the rate of firearm-related homicides has dipped since its peak in the 1980s, incidents of gun violence in the U.S. have become more deadly over the decades. The majority of these deaths are from suicides or domestic violence, tragedies that barely register on the national radar. (The Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit formed in 2013 that vets and tracks data on such incidents, defines mass shootings as shootings in which at least four people, excluding the perpetrator, are shot or injured in a single spree and the same general location.) The resulting ambient anxiety leads many to fear being in all sorts of public places, from festivals to malls to, of course, schools. Gun violence is now the second-most-common cause of death for people ages 1 through 19.
Kids today “are growing up in an atmosphere of fear and anxiety that previous generations did not have to go through,” says Linda Cavazos, a former teacher who is a member of the board in Las Vegas’s Clark County school district and works as a family therapist serving gun-violence survivors and veterans with PTSD. The adults who care for these children, she says, must assuage their worries—often while dealing with their own stresses associated with gun violence. As a therapist she’s received record-high numbers of referrals in the past year or so for kids whom she’s diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. Cavazos, whose younger brother committed suicide with a firearm, attributes the trend in part to the gun violence that has afflicted her community in Las Vegas.
We’ll keep citing these bogus “mass shooting” numbers to fan the flames of children’s paranoia. A frightened populace longs for the warm embrace of Big Mommy.
Gun violence is now the second-most-common cause of death for people ages 1 through 19.
Do you think they are saying as a single cohort composed of all 1-19 yo, or at each individual year for ages 1 through 19?
If the former, I’d like to see it broken down individually by age-year. Also with those living in dangerous urban areas like Chicago, Baltimore, etc. removed to their own subset.
I hate the phrase “The (second) most common cause of death” even more than “on the rise”. It means nothing. As long as people die, there will be most common and second most common causes of death. Would this person sleep better at night if more kids were drowning or dying of cancer? “If only more kids died from poisoning than getting shot, our world would be a better place!”
It’s almost a certainty that the vast majority of those 1-19 year-olds are in the 15-19 year-old category. But that’s less scary than lumping children in with teenagers and pretending that everyone is at equal risk.
2,200 is an incredibly high number. That’s just about one Sandy Hook a day for 7 years, and somehow that hasn’t been reported by the press.
I would expect 2190 of those to be gang related, but hey, the narrative must go on!
By “big” do you mean “thicc”?
Because, if so, that’s totally understandable.
“2,200 mass shootings since the 2012”
I’d ask where they got this number, but I already know.
Anyone remember a previous generation who had drills in school where you hid under your desk because some asshole in Commie land was going to push a button and vaporize you or kill you with some horrible radiation disease? Or, later, was going to ship you off to Asia to kill people who probably couldn’t find the U.S.A. on a world globe?

ouch! I fell on my beer 2 days ago and I think I cracked my elbow or something, swollen like a balloon, but still works,
I have no idea what I did, probably from wearing cheap slides around the house.
This is why you have to drink faster, so when you get up to pee and fall because you are drunk, there are no dangerous beers available to harm you.

My sunflowers are disappointing. I planted “mammoth” sunflowers. The plant is about 8′ tall, but the flower is only 4″ across. Looks pathetic.
All shaft and no head?
I’ve had mixed luck with sunflowers. They seem like more bother than they are worth unless you have space to plant a lot of them.
I planted lots, but only got a few. Fucking squirrels and birds.

Well, I just finished changing out the light fixture in my living room. The way the old was was constructed, the weight of an LED bulb kept messing up the electrical connections. the new one holds the bulb at the base in a vertical line without any pressure on the wires.
Must you turn this message board into a den of lies?
It takes a screwdriver, some electrical tape, and a stepstool.
It’s not rocket surgery.
What I really wanted to gripe about was the amount of sweating done. There’s no hot air return with window units. (And the ceiling is too low for ceiling fans.
I’m no expert, but this seems off. You mean blowing hot air outside? Pretty sure most or all window units do that, otherwise it wouldn’t work very well.
Some portable units have only one hose that alternates fresh-air intake and hot-air outblow – and they don’t work well either. Mine has two hoses, one for each function. Much more efficient.
No, I mean the air circulation in the “Cool” zone. The hot air above the cooled region rises to the ceiling and stays there, because the intakes to be cooled are below the vent pushing the cold air back into the room. So without a ceiling fan to break the vertical thermal differential, the ceiling of the room stays hot.
Yeah, after I posted I realized you might be talking about hot air pooling at the ceiling. I think more BTU might fix that issue. I haven’t noticed such an issue in my room with a window unit.
If I closed off the doorway between the living room and kitchen, the current unit might work better at ceiling level. Some fool put in a lot of “wide open space” rather than focus on comfortable climate.
How about a tall oscillating fan? I run one on my main floor because it lets me keep the temp a degree or two higher. It just more comfortable with the fan. I have ceiling fans upstairs where I have a portable a.c.. helps tremendously.
Also, the central a.c., plus the oscillating fan, plus the ceiling fans, plus the portable a.c. turns my house into a giant white noise machine. Nothing wakes me up
I moved the fan into my bedroom when I got the portable unit there.
I had a lot of trouble sleeping in the heat, so I prioritized fixing there.
So get more fans, they’re cheap.
I’m surprised all the keening doesn’t create more air flow.
Larf!
I’m sure this had probably been posted but good for a chuckle. TW TOS

To Show Support For Gun Control, Matt Damon Remakes Bourne Series With Bananas Instead Of Firearms
“People often pointed out how I was against guns but was in these really violent movies where I shoot everyone,” Damon told reporters. “But no longer. Now, Jason Bourne will take on those dastardly CIA conspirators with healthy, organic fruits instead of firearms.”
Bourne will point at the bad guys and say “Blam blam” or “Pew Pew Pew” while pretending to shoot the banana. Whenever he uses an explosive or throws a grenade he will instead lob a bunch of bananas. The bananas will create all kinds of wacky hijinks where characters slip on them, while cars that drive over the peels will spin out and sometimes fall into the water, having to be fished out by a Lakitu.
In one iconic scene that’s been remastered in the rerelease of The Bourne Supremacy, Damon’s character talks on the phone to the CIA’s deputy director, Pamela Landy. Finally, he reveals he’s been watching the CIA from a nearby rooftop for the entire conversation through a high-powered scope attached to a giant, GMO-laced banana. “Get some rest, Pam,” he says. “You look tired.” The CIA office then freaks out, realizing how much danger they were in.
“We could have been a banana split,” Landy says as the hunt for Bourne resumes.

I… what the hell am I looking at? Magic?
This is magic.
It’s what happens when you pulse 120,000 Amps through a 12 AwG wire (which explodes in the process) coiled into 10 turns around a US quarter post 1967.
No current flows directly through the quarter, which is insulated from the coil, but the magnetic force in the 10 turn coil is so intense it induces sufficient eddy currents in the coin to push it evenly, radically inward.
In 100 millionths of a second.
I love my job.
So it’s a EM pinch?
Sounds like a Tom Swift invention.
Meant to say “radially” not radically
I think we all read it that way
I dunno, seemed pretty radical to me.
So the quarter still has the same density, but it’s thicker correct?
There’s no metallurgical magic making it no longer FCC Ni.
It follows ant man rules. The density is identical when the plot requires it, reduced when the plot requires and increased when it needs to punch or smash something
Yeah, same mass of course. Just gets thicker( (taller if you prefer) and lower diameter.
