Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! And what a glorious morning is always is as we have the greatest internet troll as President.
10 declassified Russian collusion revelations that could rock DC this fall.
Biden may need to go back to his previous strategy of not being seen nor heard.
Sweet Jesus, we’re going to get over another year of this shit, aren’t we?
Good news ladies, a new bachelor is back on the market!
Oldest webcam to be switched off after 25 years.
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
President Warren will be an Indian Giver
“Great White Mother speaks with forked tongue!”
If that is all she would be doing, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but I suspect that she actually has a lot of real bad shit that will leave a serious body count she wants to do. To help, of course.
We just need to offer her a gift as a sign of goodwill. Do you think she would like a nice blanket?
No, it’s ok. I’ll see myself out.
Considering she wants our scalps, I think feeling like reciprocating in kind can be forgiven….
How?
And yet still no one really knows what the postage stamp sized video feed was…
Just what the ceiling cat saw. No worries.
Also, Mornin’ Banjos.

Even assuming buying Greenland is not fake news, can we at least have them seek donations to pay for it instead of using money coerced from the taxpayers?
If I’m going to pay more, I want more definitive ownership.
You know, with certain bottles of scotch, they at least give you claim to a square foot of bog. Soon to be included with every US Passport a voucher allowing you to claim your square foot of Greenland?
As long as I can find and stand on my land.
Maybe they’ll give you 20 acres and a walrus.
Goo goo g’joob
UCS, quit your government job and take the deal. You can sell the 20 acres of rapidly melting glacier water to Dubai or the Californians, and walrus ivory was the original reason for Greenland’s prosperity.
Doesn’t Santa Claus live in Greenland?
Greenland is to the North Pole what Florida is to NY.
So what you’re saying is he moved there for tax purposes?
BAZINGA!
So its where the elves go to die?
It sounds like a good investment. It will be a tropical paradise in a few years according to the “environmentalists”.
Yeah, wait, shouldn’t Al Gore and AOC be all over this one? You’d think they’d be the first in line.
Good morning, Banjos!

Video shows man wanted for NYPD water attacks attempt to run from arrest
Please pray for our boys in blue!
Everyone thinks they’re gonna be a reality TV star
Including the cops
Bad boys, bad boys, watcha gonna do?
I have no love for cops in general but that water-throwing was a dick move.
Me either. It’s like the milkshake thing, it’s a mock assassination. Acid or bleach is nasty shit.
Also, you can’t go into any random business, or go to outside workers like Con Ed, and just throw a bucket of water on them
My dad was a cop in the 80s and 90s and I remember riding with him to school and seeing dittos and packets about which Hepatitis vaccine they were issuing to all the deputies, or the new policy on what to do if someone throws a biological material (what a term) at you viz a viz HIV infection, or the usual stuff about being spit on. My grandfather worked at the Pentagon and had bags of what I assume was fake blood thrown at his car as he drove into the garage. I’m not exactly a defender of police privilege and certainly not Fed employee privilege, but I am a firm believer in the whole “do unto others” bit. And I think a lot of people here don’t feel very kindly disposed towards the idea of collective guilt. Whatever your legitimate grievances with specific police might be, that doesn’t justly apply to all police in general, or even their co-workers. Whatever issues you have with policies are not and should never be addressed by threatening physical violence to people who don’t make the policies. Nor do I believe violence has a role in changing or revoking bad policies–which doesn’t preclude its use in defending yourself against the execution of those policies.
^this
Its worth opposing collective guilt because applying collective guilt is part of the human condition, and bad.
Its also worth policing your own teams behavior because getting collective guilt applied to your team is part of the human condition, and therefore inevitable if you don’t guard against it.
Its like short skirts. You should be able to walk into a dark parking structure with a shirt skirt on and not be afraid. But due to human nature, you’d be better of with holstered .380 on your person just in case.
The police have a *massive* pr problem and this kind of bitchy, weak-ass response ain’t helping out. Step 1 of demanding respect should be to *act respectable*. They want to skip over that. Fine, but don’t expect any love from those around you.
Yeah, all those years of protection and where’s the thanks? It’s a good play, AGW will make Greenland a prime vacation spot soon.
Soon we will all be living on the poles, only place cool enough for habitation. After the battles for the food and guzzoline.
I look forward to having a pet penguin. I’ll name him Snarky.
Sorry the penguins are all gay and trying to hatch stones these days, so there won’t be any soon.
a prime vacation spot
Perhaps good for a northern cruise.
Right to bare boobs: Topless advocates take battle to Supreme Court
How is this still an issue?
As always it depends on the boobs
The rule tends to be those who are most inclined to be unclothed are those you least want to see in that state of dress.
^^^ Shot puts in tube socks.
There’s always an exception that proves the rule, in this case it’s Topless Rights Advocate Rachel Jessee (image search will probably be NSFW). I think I first saw her on TOS.
The photo in the article. She has moobs, or they look like moobs because she has a spare tractor tire in her shorts. What a gut.
Depends on where you are. The ones on display at the punk festival were young and perky.

While looking was appreciated, I’m not sure they (or their friends) would be as excited for pictures to be taken.
I’m hearing a whole lot of excuse making over here.

Someone pass me the bleach bottle…
Well, the girls are right.
Even if it’s Granny from Little Annie Fannie?
I have seen dudes with moobs as ugly as any grammy walking around without a shirt. I averted my gaze.
Technically the girls are right.
Totally agree but I’d feel kind of skeezed if were my girls walking around like that. Customs are hard to break and sometimes they won’t even bend.
Yes. This is just another version of “New Soviet Man”.
No, dudes whould cover up too.
Especially dudes with moobs.
Wattiminit – you don’t want to see a topless Chuck Schumer dancing down Broadway?
Is he being chased by wild dogs?
Didn’t Chris Rock already cover this?
19 year old titty… that’s community titty.
35 year old titty… that’s your man’s titty…
Wisdom right there…
I remember a case in Canada from about 25 years ago, I thought the judge got the decision right.
His statement was that male and female breasts are treated differently. If you grab a man’s breast, it is assault. If you grab a woman’s, it is assault AND sexual assault.
His ruling was that as long as they are being treated differently in that way, laws requiring female breasts to be covered were okay. If we got rid of that law on equality grounds, we would also have to get rid of the sexual assault component on equality grounds.
That sounds reasonable. Something tells me that a number of ladies who believe they should be able to walk around a crowded city topless also believe that men who notice are patriarchalists subjecting them to the Male Gaze and should suffer some kind of legal consequence.
^^THIS^^
The kids in the future who get put on the sex offender registry for giving their fat friends titty twisters are going to be very sad.
Ah, thank God we’re back at the familiar libertarian ground of debating can vs. should.
If it helps, I’m so old-fashioned as to believe that men shouldn’t walk around topless, either. I’m not even that wild about flip-flops. But that’s a matter of taste, or the lack thereof, and doesn’t belong in codified law.
Of course, in the #metoo era, I trust these women understand that if they’re walking around topless men, women, boys, and girls, and probably dogs and cats, will be staring at their tits. And by walking around topless, they’re giving their tacit approval to that.
I’m all for more women like this walking around half-naked.
How is this still an issue?
Puritans of all political persuasions?
The scary thing is Biden is just as sharp as he was 31 years ago.
This is the correct take.
Trump wants to buy Greenland so he can be a plantation owner. Everyone who lives there will become his slaves.
All 56,000 of them?
Speaking of Greenland, I’m not as well-read as most of y’all and didn’t know much about the NY Sun. So when I happened across this, I was surprised to see how frank they are about the realities of the Fed.
Gold doesn’t have any real intrinsic value either.
It has a few industrial uses. It’s generally not used because it’s expensive. IIRC, better electrical conductivity than copper.
Au is worse than Cu for conductivity, but it doesn’t corrode easily. Ag is better than Cu and Au and has a conductive oxide.
It is also less prone to the effects of an EMP from what I have heard…
That makes it very valuable for EM shielding in electronic components.
Shielding is far more affected by the mesh size of the material and the quality of the construction than the material itself, as long as it conducts moderately well.
Ackshully! Gold is a pretty good conductor of electricity. I’d consider that an intrinsic value.
+1 Gold plated RCA jacks
I always wanted to sell audio cables made out of gold conductors; to the well-heeled audiophile who has more money than sense.
A lot of things conduct electricity. For most applications, you won’t notice a difference between the available options.
Nothing exchangeable has intrinsic value. That is trivially true.
Thomas Aquinas. Every moderately aware person who’s read an econ text book or engaged in trade for the last 100 years nods knowingly.
That’s what you say.
My stockpile of beanie babies will cover my financial needs through the next economic apocalypse.
Biden may need to go back to his previous strategy of not being seen nor heard.
The Hillary Clinton strategy 2.0.
“A bold strategy, Cotton!”
“The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct,” he added. “I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!”

Olaf Falafel, the greatest role John Malkovich ever took on.
I thought his greatest role was playing John Malkovich in Being John Malkovich.
His greatest role is playing John Malkovich in … life.
I laughed. I used to work at a group home (they paid me to sleep!). One of the ladies there had tourettes syndrome. Little tiny grandma lookin lady swearing like a sailor.

Oof. That was at the peak of my Lisa Bonnet crush. Wow, what a turn.
I was surprised that she didn’t end up having a big career after that. It certainly demonstrated range after Cosby.
Yeah, I’ve often wondered what happened there. I suppose some people get into acting and then walk away from the table once they hit a couple hot hands. I mean, if I had a job where I wound up with some big score and could retire comfortably at an early age, I’d do it.
Yep.

FEELING PEACHY Amanda Holden has won Rear Of The Year but can YOU tell the celebrity from their beach bum?
https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/9753578/amanda-holden-rear-year-celebrity-bum/
Amanda Holden has won Rear Of The Year for her ‘understated bottom’
So see if you can correctly put a name to each of these iconic bums (scroll down to reveal the answers!)
5/10 although I was unsure of one
‘understated bottom’
Looks androgynous
All I am saying a certain one should be recognizable to a certain count
Even I knew who that was.
Those are all terrible, except #8. wtf. I can’t believe Adriana Lima looks that bad when the lights, makeup, camera angles etc aren’t right.
neither 2 nor 6 are terrible.
You like ’em flat. #3 wins, whoever she is.
Remember when they were all flat. Well, flat-ish. The iconic Gloria Vanderbilt jeans heart shape. Wide and flat.
I’m seeing a lot of cellulite in those photos. “Bum of the Year” should at least have a combat portion if they’re going to lower the standards THAT much.
Having just watched “the boys”, I’m gonna nominate Brittany Allen, AKA Popclaw.
Heavy makeup over an aging face. She used to be cute as a button.
Time is undefeated.
Really, that’s her bum? That’s it?
Elizabeth Warren Crowd Was 6,000 at Most, not 12,000
I suspect there will be a lot of zoomed in shots pretending she is drawing huge crowds the same way they did covering Clinton last time around.
Also I like the pick. Her almost Nazi salute is fitting given that she is essentially a fascist in the true meaning of the term.
Photographic tricknology, like when the fat girl takes a selfie from above. Pioneered by Ann Wilson of Heart.
You know, I’m so old, I can remember when she was the hot one.
#metoo. One of my high school girlfriends bore a strong resemblance to Anne circa “Dreamboat Annie” vintage. Just like real life, her sister was hotter.
They actually got me with this one.
It came up in an article in the newsfeed on my phone… so fed to me by Google. Big headline – Warren draws 12,000 with a photo of a stage and a bunch of people in front (not a full crowd shot, but maybe 100+ people in the shot).
So I just took it on face value. Big news organization publishes a number and a photo… they must have at least validated the number, if not providing the estimate themselves.
Well, it worked. Nobody is going to know there is a dispute. And the only point is to generate “momentum” with voters.
It is the same process as the last election in reverse. The press kept avoiding telling us the size and enthusiasm of Trump’s rallies. They went out of their way to show interviews at the edge of bleachers, or scenes of crowds leaving and getting yelled at by protesters.
This is one issue that Reason (and most everyone else) is way behind on. The propaganda machine is getting stronger and more pervasive every day.
The Bulletproof Backpack Is the New Duck-and-Cover
I buy my children bulletproof backpacks because I care about them and I want them to be safe just in case, but then again I love my children.
rated to stop most handgun bullets, but not the higher-caliber ammo from a rifle like an AR-15
The .223 round is a smaller diameter than a 9mm handgun round…it just has more juice…
Also, I thought there was a movement to make body-armor illegal.
To be fair, .223 rifles have a higher dimensionless caliber than 9mm weapons, even carbines.
” I thought there was a movement to make body-armor illegal”
Brought to you by your friend and mine, Chucky Schumer
You KNOW there will be exceptions for politicians.
Caliber as in quality. A high caliber guy, etc
See, 223s are higher quality (and quantity) than 9s. 9s are so metric but they are a European measurement so we will discount them
Agreed
While listening to the radio yesterday, I noticed the hourly national news had three stories about possible mass shooters who were arrested. I figure they will keep this up to maintain the gun control narrative of out of control shootings.
Ray-De-Oh? What kind of new fangled device is that?
Like Com-Poo-Ters but with less buttons.
Another salient question….
of all of the people ever shot in a school mass shooting, how many were wearing a backpack, and shot through said backpack? I’m gonna go with a very low number for that one.
I have to suspect that any bag full of textbooks is effectively bulletproof already, no kevlar needed. Have you ever (god I am old) shot phone books? Stacks of paper slow down a round very rapidly.
The last phone book I saw was thinner than my paperbacks. They’ve lost a lot of weight since the 80s.
But to the point, Mythbusters covered this. 2 layers of phone books is completely bullet proof. 1 layer is pretty good… and if you cover it with something to flatten the bullet, golden.
So a school shooter with hollow point rounds is not going to penetrate the textbooks.
With a .30-06? Mmmm.. dunno. Jacketed rounds? probably not gonna stop that. I never fired that at a phone book, so I wouldn’t know.
I saw that, but the phone books they used were easily three times as thick as any I’ve seen in decades.
I don’t think a Chromebook is going to stop a bullet.
Mall ninjas and kids living near surplus stores have had this angle covered for like forty years.
The problem with using Kevlar to bulletproof anything is that it pretty much has to be against (or nearly so) your body to be useful. It isn’t redesigned to stop bullets when it is hanging randomly in some proximity to your body.
If they are putting these Kevlar panels in the part against the back and that part is close to the body it will probably work OK. Otherwise it’s hard to say how effective it might be – and even in the best of circumstances your kid is going to take a beating in stopping a round if that happens.
Oh, simple, you make the front and back out of kevlar, add mild steel shock plates on either side of the book cavity, and have elastic sides to make sure it’s decently up against the books. That should soak a bullet or two. Especially if the strap configuration is like a hiking rucksack. If you’re just selling them to cash in, add a disclaimer about not wearing it incorrectly, and you should be good to go.
A moped bomb? Just shows how far Sweden has fallen.
Look just because you are a terrorist does not mean you want to sit in traffic all day
“Sweden has seen a wave of explosions this year with many taking place in the multicultural city of Malmö, including three separate detonations in a mere 24-hour period in June.”
Multicultural.
Inget att se här! Röra sig längs!
It’s vibrant.
Good to know our cops are as competent as theirs.
I have always had trouble understanding how you could move to Sweden and be that angry. Sure the weather is probably terrible at least some of the time, but attractive blondes, clean cities and nice, accommodating (to a fault as it turns out) people. Even more baffling, these people are coming from some of the shittest of shitholes, you’d think that it would be paradise by comparison.
Not really, Sweden has a long tradition of criminals blowing shit up nothing really new.
The bombs ironically are mostly aimed at scaring/killing one person and set off at night to minimize the risk of hurting someone else, same deal with the grenades.
I think gun violence is the new thing.
But customs claims the reason they catch less explosives this year is because it became law that you need to apply for a import permit to bring explosives, including grenades, and bombs in to the country.
Desperate for bad news
A sudden cascade of events is challenging President Donald Trump’s boasts of an unprecedented American winning streak that is a critical component of his reelection salesmanship.
Rising fears of a recession, layoffs in steel country and new evidence of the toll on US households of his tariff war are contradicting the President’s preferred political narrative. Steps his White House is contemplating to head off a slowdown that could be ruinous to his 2020 hopes, meanwhile, hint at panic rather than the reassurances sown by his top lieutenants.
There has to be some hobgoblin capable of chasing the voters into the arms of a Democrat!
Rising fears of a recession
Fomented by the same people perpetuating the myth of the rise of white-supremacy.
I called this months ago on these boards and even made joking reference to my tin-foil top hat. Oh how I hate to be right sometimes.
You didn’t have to call it….
It has been immutable since I have been alive.
When democrats are in the white house, all economic news is good. Unemployment is 6% that’s great! GDP growth is 1.2%? Fantastic!
Under republicans? 5% unemployment is a depression. GDP growth of 3.5% is “Stagnant”.
Heading into the election in 91 the press and democrats had been talking down the economy for 8 straight years. They finally got a recession. Which was over well before the election. Remember “it is the economy, stupid?” Growth was over 4% that quarter. Do you think they covered anything along those lines? No, they did not.
Meanwhile, Obama got mostly great reports about what was the worst economy since Carter’s stagflation.
DNC operatives with bylines, will DNC operate…
Saying that white supremacy is a myth or a hoax is JUST the kind of thing a white supremacist would say…
I like that subtle shift of wording.
The “threat of white supremacy” is a hoax to “white supremacy is a hoax”.

Spider-Man fans are extremely upset about him possibly leaving the MCU
I hope Trump does something about this.
70/30 odds they’re pushing him out to make room for Mild Moralez.
Story is that Sony and Disney couldn’t reach an agreement moving forward (one of the stories I read had Disney asking for a very large cut of the gross on the coordinated movies). And it doesn’t matter, Sony owns the rights to Miles as well (note: Into the Spider-verse), Marvel sold off all the Spider-Man rights back in the days of staving off bankruptcy.
Who owns the copyright on the characters? If they declared them to be in the public domain, how would that impact previously sold movie rights?
I honestly don’t know. I’m not sure you can revoke copyrights that you sold to someone else though.
Regardless, Disney putting something into the public domain? The company that has pushed copyright extensions to prevent Mickey from entering the public domain?
Check out Comrade Question over here.
Do your own research, lib – maybe then you will learn something.

‘Flying Swastika’: German Amusement Park Forced to Close New Ride in Shape of Two Giant Nazi Symbols

Sarah Silverman?
SNP readers?
I clicked on the link thinking it would be some ambiguous shape that sorta maybe looked like a swastika… but nope. Those are definitely giant spinning swastikas.
Yeah, that’s legit.
And why?
What is the function of the second arm? Wouldn’t the ride be exactly the same with just a straight arm coming from the hub without the bend?
I looked at the still and was trying to figure out what the ride did, expecting that second arm to move. Nope. Seems an odd design choice.
Isn’t is also a Buddhist symbol?

Why is this tripping my bullshit detector? I’m really, really curious to see how they’re determining a percentage chance of a recession.
Well, you take two ten sided dice, you say one of them is the tens die, and the other is the ones die, and then roll them. In this case the tens die came up a 3, and the ones die came up a 5.
It’s science!
Isn’t that how statistics work?
If I game it out (time for Bayes, anyone?), I think it’s less than 50%. There’s just too much momentum: orders and production are hard to refigure, retrench, and undo. It might be that everyone who needed a new car now has one. Eating will probably continue.
Two straight quarters of GDP backing up would mean either
Fall 19 and Winter 20
Winter 20 and Spring 20
Spring 20 and Summer 20 or
Summer 20 and Fall 20.
I don’t think either the first two can happen, and chances on the last two are maybe 60%. Sum that up, and I don’t get to 50% in the period projected.
Next two years? That’s a long time.
I think the more appropriate question is “When will the bubble pop?”
After Amash dumped Trump, his district may do same to him

You misspelled “more indoctrinated.”
“Better educated”. I guess they’re not that irredeemable after all.
Who could have seen that coming? Wow, that is really out of left field.
What an asshole.
I find it to be fun that it is finally cooler here than it is the hellholes that [most of] you people inhabit. The temperatures you guys are talking about are absurd.
Work sucks dick for Skittles. Two weeks in and and they have thrown every single thing at us at once, and not a single person knows what is going on. Even the veteran teachers at the same school. I had to have a meeting with some parents today because I wasn’t keeping them updated on a system that no one has explained to me and because I haven’t adequately decorated my room for first graders. In front of my bosses. I feel like this throwing stick might boomerang on me.
So I have to decorate more. Two thoughts. First– Oh, great! Less time teaching! Let the kids draw and decorate and generally I get to fuck off. Second–Oh, shit! I’m wasting time not teaching the kids and doing feelgoody shit that is better done elsewhere. I let them draw and color and play, don’t get me wrong. They are 6 years old and it’s a 8-3:40 school day. They need breaks. Covered. But I feel like it makes me a worse teacher by not utilizing all of my time makes me feel lazy.
You know what your kids do in my class? Fucking work. Learn. Fun is added. But it seems like they just want me to have them trace their hands all day and glue them around the room. Fuck that shit. I should be teaching history. But dammit if this job doesn’t pay ~2x the average teacher salary here. Not that much, but once we start getting paid we should be able to save some. Salad days for at least ten more days.
Gotta grind, yo. Hope all is well with y’all. I’ve heard some stories of grief from some Glibs–I hope you guys are hanging in there as best you can. Sorry for the actual hardship that you are going through.
I haven’t adequately decorated my room for first graders. – how many pieces of flair do you need? The class next to yours has 37 you know.
Here the max is 32 degrees but at night it goes down to 17 so it ain’t that bad. In general if the minimum is under 20 it is ok.
How many pieces of flair do you want?

Sounds like a bad idea.
Reminds me of a case from the 90’s. Some dude injected cocaine into his junk (up the urethra). Got a big erection and had lots of sex. Erection didn’t go away. Became painful.
Goes to ER. He’s having lots of pain. They admit him. Next day his fingertips start turning colors. His junk is darkly colored.
Fast forward 2 weeks. His junk has turned black and shrunk, his fingers and toes are black and he’s lost control of his legs and feeling in his arms. He is sitting in a steel bath so they can work on exfoliating dead tissue and increasing circulation.
This is where you stop reading…..
No, seriously… you’ve been warned….
He’s alone in the room in the bath when something floats to the surface. He looks down. It is his junk. It dried up and fell off in the tub.
He ended up losing his fingers and toes. I think a foot and maybe a hand… I don’t remember exactly…. after that last revelation we all kinda quit paying attention. Apparently his drugs were adulterated with something nasty that clotted his blood everywhere.
So protip: Don’t inject stuff in your junk.
Well, that’s either a lesson learned or a sure end to a bad genetic line.
I can’t understand how I could have lived more than three score years without feeling that strong urge to stab my penis with a 2 inch sewing needle – for pleasure!

Swing and a miss.
I miss the English language.
That last thing bothers me because I have read online about “trans chasers” in passing, and it seems the rule of thumb is not to specifically date or have sex with someone just because they’re transgender.
Sounds like kink-shaming to me. Freaky deakies need love too.
So it is evil transphobia if you won’t screw ladyboys and evil fetshization if you want to screw them? So the path of virtue is to screw them against your will?
That’s the corollary, yes.
“am I fetishizing or being a trans chaser ”
Another to add to the list of questions that never needed to be asked.
Fly your freak flag, either in public or private, but don’t ask permission and don’t ask anybody to validate it.

‘Cosmopolitan’ Fires Editor After Learning She Lied On Resume About Having Sex
The libs will never learn…
“The Onion”. Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time. A long time.
The Bee stole their thunder. I remember when Slate and Salon were interesting and it wasn’t even that long ago. When was the last time any of you visited Cracked? I gave up on Vanity Fair when Hitch died.
I still check Cracked, but I should probably pull it out. I can’t remember the last time they had something funny up there. FFS, they had a Trump “scandal” list the other day.
I stopped visiting back when their site started causing browsers to crash. That was years and years ago, as the funny was fading.
I had hoped Slate would amount to something. My fantasy was an honest debate, something akin to the Firing Line.
By the time in my life when little league was over and I could catch my breath, it was already a social justice megaphone.
There used to be some push-back. What’sherface was one of the first to expose the Virginia Tech bullshit. She’s moved on. The comments weren’t terrible before it became a bunch of Tankies drowning everything else out.
Since you guys are piling on….
Will somebody explain the joke? I don’t get it…
I mean, I suppose…. Cosmo is always doing “10 ways to have a better orgasm” type stories. Is that the joke?
Definitely not up to their historic standards.
Needs Snopes fact Check.
Babylon Bee’s merciless trolling of snopes has been the highlight of twitter over the last few weeks.
SNL writers would do well to set the Bee as their home page.
After 8 years of “lampooning” Obama as either a greek god who is beset by lesser mortals or a ruthelessly competent and brilliant man who is beset by morons, and now 3 years of Trump as cheeto-idiot racist, it would be nice if they could figure out how to do political humor beyond “hurrrr republicans are soooo stupid! And evil! ”

The government’s madcap plan to cut our calories
https://www.spiked-online.com/2019/08/20/the-governments-madcap-plan-to-cut-our-calories/
Of all the bad policies that have flown under the radar while the country has been consumed by Brexit, none is more bizarre than food reformulation. Imagine a policy dreamt up by Caligula and implemented by the Politburo and you still wouldn’t capture the barking-mad insanity and bureaucratic dogmatism of Public Health England’s flagship anti-obesity policy.
The basic idea is cretinously simple. People are obese because they eat too much, but it is difficult to get them to eat less, so the government has instructed the food industry to remove 20 per cent of the calories from food. Food companies have been told to do this ‘voluntarily’ by 2024 or face further regulation and a legally binding target — ie, it is not really voluntary.
The calorie-reduction target is effectively a fat-reduction target, as it comes on top of a diktat demanding a 20 per cent reduction in sugar content by 2020 and a long-running salt-reduction scheme.
and then people will eat more food to make up the difference.
+1 LED light bulbs
Yeah. No second-order consequences there.
So Britain in 2019 has become 1980s Romania? They are actually taking a page from Ceausescu’s manual on “How to be so evil that you get to be the one Communist Dictator who gets killed when the Iron Curtain falls”
People are not obese because they eat too many calories. They are obese because they eat too many simple carbohydrates which are inflammatory to their metabolism. Cutting sugars and simple carbs are what they need to do more than anything else.
And sitting on their ass all day doing nothing doesn’t factor into it either.
have been told to do this ‘voluntarily’ by 2024 or face further regulation and a legally binding target
In a just system this would be treated as criminal extortion.

I dunno her arms do not look freakishly thin as it happens in some underweight women
She’s not freakishly thin – she has just has a small frame, eats healthy, and smokes cigarettes, which allows her to keep her butt flat LIKE AMERICAN WOMEN SHOULD BE.
Or I guess she could squat and crossfit and drink protein shakes and she would meet CP’s pathetic standard.
Keep the tushie flat whites – it’s our thing.

Nah, that outfit is a hot mess.
Which is fine for making a run to the store… but don’t write an article about it and tell me how great she looks.
For God’s sake, she needs a burrito. She’s so thin I worry she’ll break a hip or something. She’s like a whippet.
I will never be able to comprehend the mindset of someone who reads those stories.

Math is racist
You know, I usually think it’s a joke when people say journalists were asleep during Obama’s eight years. this seems like proof it’s true.
I wouldn’t say they were asleep so much as they were wide awake, vigorously working around the clock to slant coverage in favor of him and bury or discredit any stories that showed his numerous unconstitutional, authoritarian, war-mongering actions.
We came to terms with it by blowing a lot of shit up and killing a lot of people.
The south hasn’t come to terms with it’s racist past?
WTF?
Never been to the south, huh?
Even 45 years ago when old folks still used blatantly racist language and held blatantly racist attitudes, black and white people in the south worked and lived side by side. They long ago figured out how to get along.
Remember Atlanta as the “City too Busy to Hate”?
With plenty of poverty to go around, even people who dropped the N-word or Cracker like it was nothing would have lunch together, work together, etc.
When I went to college in the early 80’s I was confronted by a lot of people from the northeast. Several of us were sitting around talking about such things and they were grilling me about how racist the south was.
After several minutes of this conversation it became apparent to me that they were really ignorant. Like, have no idea what they are even saying ignorant. Like, have you ever met any black people ignorant. So I asked…. how many black people were in your high school.
One kid from Long Island said they totally knew black people. In fact, he had 3 black people in his school. On black girl was in his lunch period senior year….
(out of 3,500)
Oh.
Yeah, that’s why you don’t understand anything of racial dynamics. You grew up in a completely segregated area and thought you were enlightened.
I grew up in a middle class neighborhood in a poorer part of the country. My school was about 50% white, 50% black. We lived race relations every day.
Nobody from the northeast gets to lecture the south. The northeast is easily the most racist part of the country. They have racial slurs for races that I didn’t even know existed.
And this coming from someone who has experienced the attitudes of Midwesterners to the Hmong and Native Americans ( ya’ll are still pretty openly racist about that stuff, even today. )
How Capitalist-Abolitionists Fought Slavery
https://www.aier.org/article/how-capitalist-abolitionists-fought-slavery#.XVr4mHpPVil.twitter
I think this is part of a whole bunch of articles against that NYT 1619 thing by triggered right-wingers who cannot accept that capitalism is the result of slavery
After 10,000 years of human slavery, it’s inevitable result emerged: Capitalism!

*Family Feud Clapping* “Good answer! Good answer!”
What is ‘context’?
Discussing the legacy of slavery in America, Lee said, “I think that most woke historians would say that this country, the United States of America, was built upon the genocide of people and slavery. I mean, that’s a fact. And I think that if we Americans came to study how this country started, we wouldn’t be talking about kick immigrants out, you know, because if it wasn’t — I mean, Native Americans, people brought here as slaves, everyone was immigrants.”
Lee said, “Another thing I’d like to say respectfully, why are we still asking is this guy a white supremacist? I mean, like it’s not even the question, I mean, the Muslim ban, all Mexicans are rapists, drug dealers.”
He continued, “And then Charlottesville, we have marching — the KKK, the alt-right, neo-Nazis, and he can’t make a decision between what’s right and wrong? What’s love and hate? Both people — I mean, that’s going to be — I mean, that quote, that’s going to be attached to him. He’s going to be on the wrong side of history, and that’s the first thing they will say that quote.”
Anderson Cooper said, “It’s interesting, there is a movement among Republicans to rewrite the history of what the president said about ‘very fine people. Because the president said very fine people on both sides specifically referencing Friday night in Charlottesville, which is the night of the tiki torch—”
Lee said, “Not buying it. You know what that is? Subterfuge. Shenanigans.”
Copper continued, “Maybe I’m stupid and naive, but I was shocked to see all these, you know, whatever age they were people totally fine with showing their faces, chanting ‘Jews will not replace us.’”
Lee said, “You know why because the guy in the White House gave them dog whistles, like ‘come on out.’ Our guys in the White House so we’re good.”
He added, “Before they just didn’t do that, but now that got the green light.”
Right…Lee is a deluded propagandized moron. But Cooper is a lying hack.
“Anderson Cooper said, “It’s interesting, there is a movement among Republicans to rewrite the history of what the president said about ‘very fine people. Because the president said very fine people on both sides specifically referencing Friday night in Charlottesville, which is the night of the tiki torch—””
CNN can’t read their own transcript?
Someone is rewriting history but it is not Republicans in this instance. I should be shocked he said this with a straight face given how it is so thoroughly and easily debunked, but these people have no shame.
They learned from Goebbels.
Anderson is boring and nothing more; these aren’t great insights that no one else had stumbled upon: they’re partisan barbs served up.
Which is fine; which is, again, boring.
But Anderson can’t have it both ways:
a/ the President is a moron and doesn’t know anything about the world and will always change his mind or his talking points within 48 hours
b/ the President is a brilliant, evil, 4D Hungry Hungry Hippos playing demigod
It’s simply A: he’s an emotionally bankrupt guy and, therefore, stunted, an intellectual infant; therefore: a moron.
Which tells us quite a bit about Candidate Herself. That also is closed history.
So, Anderson, just drop all the critique: at best yours is reading tea-leaves.
Here’s something for the morons to ponder, if they were capable of actually pondering. If Trump was a far left prog who was elected president as a democrat, we’d now be sick of reading all the fluff pieces, written by the same people, about what a genius he is, for doing the exact same things he’s doing right now.
I was assured that Anderson was…
“You’re fascinating to talk to”
No kidding he’s a liar.
The entire transcript is on Politifact. Go read it and see if it remotely fits his and his ilk’s narrative.
Hint: It doesn’t.
So he’s a liar and a piece of shit.
What’s intriguing if not diabolical is the way the left frames stuff.
They take an event. Mangle it up and form a narrative without context while wrapping it all up in sophistry. Then, when responsible people rectify their shenanigans they then say, ‘See? They’re rewriting the scrip!” when in fact they’re just righting it.
“You will agree with my bullshit premises and we will proceed from there”
Uh huh. No.
We just wanted to have a conversation about how you don’t need a 2nd amendment because guns are icky and I don’t like them. But we can’t because you’re unreasonable and a Nazi. Can we talk now?
I’m not sure what that “1619” thing is, but there is a thing at the Atlantic which is breathtaking in its rambling incoherence.
I couldn’t force myself to read the whole thing, but it seemed to be some sort of weird fantasy roleplay fetish exercise. Slavery is bad. America is bad. You’re bad. I’m bad. We’re all going to Hell.
I am going to give an opinion anyway?
P Brooks, just like your average journalist.
It’s the current attempt to rewrite all of American history as an exercise in slavery starting 160 years before the USA even existed.
Delegitimization is the goal. To be followed by a suitable replacement of their choice.
But Radley Balko told me that it’s a wonderful project and we’re just racists for thinking it’s a load of shit.
Just like the ‘medical bankruptcies’ theme died out, the obsession with slavery will too once a Democrat is back in power. My hunch is this: Democrats have decided the path to victory is through race and racism. Slavery is a natural and powerful way to further push this strategy. Ergo, organizations are created to remind people of how bad their nation at its roots are even the problem has been solved. I know. Conspiratorial but the timing of these things are suspicious..
Also, they will soon play ‘Roots’ and ‘The Color Purple’ on a loop.
Of course they decided that. Dean Baquet explicitly said this – the NYT had hammered on RUSSIARUSSIARUSSIA for two years to try to bring Trump down. Now that it was an obvious failure, they have shifted all their resources to portraying Trump as the national Grand Wizard and play up white guilt as much as possible to prevent his re-election.
They want to tie the beginning of the slave trade in north america to the country of the US (which didn’t exist until the articles of confederation), because white man bad/america bad/ european bad. The US is evil and has no redeeming qualities and definitely wasn’t a step in the right (heh…) direction in history for the same previously mentioned reasons.
Personally I find this dwelling on the wrongs of the past unhealthy, unproductive and irresponsible. No one alive today (in the US) legally owned a slave and no one alive today (in the US) was legally a slave. Playing this ‘sins of the father’ game is dangerous.
In a delicious bit of irony, these people are actually siding with the Confederacy when they assert that the Constitution was written explicitly for white men only.
I can’t find it now but I think Lincoln expressed that sentiment (or something close to it) as well.
I don’t know that Lincoln ever said that. His views on racial equality (not slavery or equal protection under the law, but social equality) changed over time. He said in speeches before the war that he considered blacks to be intellectually inferior and famously thought that sending freed slaves back to Africa was the best course of action, but looking at his actions towards the end of his life indicates that his perspective was moving closer to a belief in equality between the races.
I think, and this is from fuzzy memory of stuff I’ve read on the topic so take it with a grain of salt, that through the course of the war he was particularly struck by the quality of black soldiers in the Union army.

You mean the government makes it difficult to pull kids out from institutionalized sexual harassment?

Because not even one of them would say it isn’t a great idea.

The democrat party, their candidates, and voter seem to be nothing more now than hodge podge collection of far left commies, retards, deranged sociopaths, and perverts. Seriously, they are like a magnet for social misfits and escaped psycho ward patients.
Maybe Elizabeth Warren is closer than you realize to having policies that you would find acceptable.
AFAIK, she says that she wants to make firearms and ammunition prohibitively expensive by increasing the excise taxes on them. But if taxes are illegal, then it does not matter what the tax rates are.
AFAIK, she says she wants massive quantities of new regulation on businesses, the NRA, religious nonprofits, crowdsource-funded documentary makers such as Citizens United, and possibly other entities that are not individuals. But if these regulations come from accreditation and/or certification agencies to which these non-individuals can join and leave at will, then that is freedom of association.
AFAIK, she says she wants various identity groups to have free fill-in-the-blank and she says she wants the wealthy to pay what she considers their fair share in order to pay for it. Unlike some others running for the D nomination for president, she is actually talking about paying for her campaign promises. The US Treasury already has a mechanism for US citizens to voluntarily donate money. She should mention in the next debate that she intends to use the ‘bully pulpit’ that she intends the wealthy to use this mechanism.

I think over time people will just quietly rebel against public education.
The system is its own worst enemy I reckon. It’ll die a slow death.
Once it does, free minds will reign free once more!
And at that point it’ll become mandatory.
Well, someone did link some Atlantic chin-tugger yesterday that advocated doing everything short of outright banning private schools in the name of “fairness”
So like 1920’s progressives.
That is becoming a popular opinion. How can equality be achieved when some kids get better education (or anything better, really) just because of where they were born and who their parents are?
When private healthcare goes out the window why shouldn’t private schools as well?
Private schools are untouched because it’s how the elites stay elite and brag about where they send their kids. Too much status currency with private schools – for now.
Health? Hospitals? Not so much and easy to maul with public ideals.
Sounds like grooming to me. Creeps.
AND BY EDUCATE STUDENTS, MEAN . . .
I get that some folks don’t have an option, but hell if I’m not doing everything in my power to pay for private school for the kiddo.
I think at a minimum a decent school is one that doesn’t hand out instructions to children on how to suck a dick.
Letter applies false label
DURRRRRRR NOT TRUE SOCIALISM!1!!
“Democratic socialism is a democratically run society making decisions as to which societal functions — education, health care, infrastructure — are operated, at no profit, for the advantage of all, leaving the vast majority of the economy to a profit-driven capitalist system.”
In other words, a kingdom of mediocrity.
And a fascist one at that.
And the irony is lost on the person who….likely was a product of public school indoctrination but failed to take a red pill. He just sprouting the line. Nazis are ‘right wing’ and all that jazz.
Take out education, health care, and infrastructure, and do you really have a “vast majority” of the economy left over?
If this twit thinks that government-controlled functions are never run for profit, they need to read up on government sector labor unions.
As usual, when Lefties complain about something being run for profit, it’s not really the profit motive they have the problem with – it’s the fact that they don’t have 100% of the profits to themselves.
Non-profit means the revenue doesn’t enrich the shareholders, not that someone isn’t making money off of it.
In fact, between for-profit, non-profit, and government-run, for-profit is the least greedy for fresh infusions of cash/ripping off the funding sources.
Is that ever the truth. One of the local environmental non-profits owns a couple beaches and an island in the Bay that they use for parties and for management staff and higher to use for vacation and a yacht that management “borrows” for weekends. They have branded Patagonia jackets and windbreakers they give out within the organization. Everybody on the board makes north of $200k.
Definitely.
Right off the bat, I’d much rather deal with someone who is completely up front about what they want from me and what they are getting out of this arrangement without cloaking it in a bunch of flowery bullshit rhetoric about helping others.
I know there are some great charities out there that really are motivated by helping others. But the charity industry is also a great hiding place for grifters since people are generally unwilling to criticize a charity.
So, what’s the definition of “fair share”?
“Anyone who makes $1 more than I do”
We’ll vote on that… said the wolves to the sheep.
Moar!
“society making decisions as to which societal functions — education, health care, infrastructure ”
What drives me insane is that people just spout these off as if they are the purview of society. Only infrastructure is convincibly so. Education and healthcare are some of the most individualized services you can think of. Just because someone else being educated may be nice does not make it my purview to make sure everyone is indoctrinated by the state.
“societal functions — education, health care, infrastructure — are operated, at no profit”
Someone with this fundamental misunderstanding of how systems sustain themselves can be safely ignored.
“Libertarian and right-wing icons have advocated that “Greed is good — drives all economic systems.” The dictionary defines greed as “wanting more than your fair share.””
Pretty sure that was Gordon Gecko in a movie. There should be a word for a special case of strawmen where you use arguments by a literary or cinematic villan as a stand in for your opponents argument.
I’d argue they’re using the wrong dictionary too.
“Fair share” has got nothing to do with it.
Webster’s says more than you need.
Need’s got nothing to do with it.
Even if you were to accept that, how do you define need? Is it “Sufficient to not keel over from malnourishment”? “Sufficient to reach the next paycheck”? “Sufficient to weather the next emergency”? “Sufficient to retire now”?
fair share
Arbitrary term is arbitrary.
infrastructure? How is that not a counterexample right now? it’s controlled by the state “democratically” and is generally awful. (schools too of course but infrastructure is easier to attack on this basis)
How would their “democratic socialist” system be different than what we have now? More govt cronyism? More red tape? Wow so much better.
I wish we had real journalists who could pin the morons to the wall when they spout this stuff
MOAR FUNDING!!!!!111
* Disregard the fact that funding on public “education” has skyrocketed since the ’70s with no results to show for it – and that some of the worst performing schools are actually spending the most per pupil – and the return may have been negative if you account for the dumbing down of curricula in order to avoid confronting some uncomfortable disparities.
Just keep telling yourself that
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) energized Democratic fundraisers over the weekend with her enthusiasm and prescription for defeating President Trump, according to donors who attended her events.
“I’m convinced she’s the next president of the United States,” one longtime Democratic fundraiser told The Hill after attending a sold-out gathering at director Spike Lee’s home on Martha’s Vineyard, the Massachusetts island where dozens of Democratic power brokers spend the summer. The fundraiser was one of three events held for the senator over the weekend.
Other donors echoed the sentiment, praising Harris’s exuberance and ability to excite people in the room.
The former California attorney general has long been seen as a candidate with crossover appeal who can win over moderates and liberals alike and who has the ability to catch fire in the race.
But her campaign has lost steam nearly two months after an electric performance at the first Democratic debates, strategists and political observers say.
Maybe people are beginning to recognize her for the contemptible authoritarian cunt she is.

Something something money in politics.
But the irony is delicious considering Trump is still filling stadiums of actual average Joes while Dems continue to court the moneyed elite.
I think it’s both hilarious and disgusting that the people you hear about things like white privilege from the most are people who have the kind of money and power most white people couldn’t amass in multiple generations. Spike Lee has the kind of money I could only see by breaking into Spike Lee’s house, but I’m guilty of oppressing him.

I wish these people would make up their minds – you can either decry gentrification or white flight. Blubbering about both is inherently contradictory.
Signaling is easy. If it’s more, like I said, I can show her plenty of not gentrified Balmer neighborhoods she can get a place for cheap.
Not contradictory at all: in both cases white people are the problem. Kvetching about gentrification is straight up racism with some half-assed excuse that it isn’t.
Yes, but one says white people moving in is the problem, the other says white people moving away is the the problem
They have. They want there to be no white people.
“Today, I live in a different neighborhood – one that is far more gentrified than the place where my family still lives, and a lot less reassuring.”
Oh stop bitching. There are plenty of non-gentrified neighborhoods in West Baltimore you can move to.
I’m sick of people bitching about gentrification. Neighborhoods change – always have, always will. Sometimes they change upscale, more often they change downscale. The people who bitch about the neighborhood going upscale have never lived in a neighborhood that deteriorated steadily into a crime-infested shithole. And usually the neighborhoods that deteriorate do so because taxation is way out of line.
In most cases, gentrification begins years before any developer shows up. That’s how you know the only people who complain about gentrification are goddamned socialists: they have no fucking clue how economic decisions are made (not even their own).
I wish my neighborhood would get a little gentrified.
Maybe then my neighbors would stop throwing trash on my margin.
It’s very important to simply ask: why do you Mr Critic have more to say about how Mr Building Owner disposes of his property than he does?
My son’s a softy and usedta talk that way. Then I asked him how would he feel if he saved all his nickels and after years bought a building and then wanted to renovate it to attract more profitable clientele but then was told that he couldn’t set rents as he pleased and furthermore old tenants whose leases had expired somehow had more rights to the building that he did.
It’s insane how many people believe that they have this power in order to determine “the character of the neighborhood”. As if your aesthetic preferences override everyone else’s property rights.
I used to work with a prog, the guy proudly boasted that he’s a communist, who was always railing about how the cities schools were so shitty because everyone moved out instead of staying and supporting those schools. Then as soon as they had their first kid, he moved out into one of the most gentrified neighborhoods around. It’s what they do. Everyone else is supposed to do what they say needs done, but not them. Hypocrites is the word I’m looking for.
some parents would give me some form of payment, I did it because it was the only way to serve my community
Surely you wax retarded via everydayfeminism without taking home a paycheck.
I could never ask my local grocer to give me a loaf of bread on credit
It’s like a dollar at Walmart. But I guess you guys think Walmart is evil.
I suspect Walmart is not welcome where she lives.
Yeah, I know, and while I sure do love the eight pounds of pulled pork I have in my fridge thanks to having a yard, a grill, and a day off, it’s nothing like those halcyon days of my youth, eating baloney and margarine on Wonder Bread.
What a stupid asshole. Go buy a fuckin’ hot dog and thank God that you live somewhere that doesn’t suck.
Also, “free” hot dogs?
How white of you.
We couldn’t even afford proper mayonnaise until I was a teenager!
Sorry, not you. Her.
The content is so unhinged I don’t think you’re supposed to read past the headline.
I get the feeling that there’s some kind of natural remedy for the situation when demand exceeds supply… I think some economists might have mentioned it in some books or something. But I dunno – sounds like something that old white men would come up with.
The vast majority of the country has very affordable housing, but I’m sure the author would find them unacceptable due to the presence of icky deplorables. I will never figure out this mentality whereby people think they are entitled to live anywhere they want for a low price.
Businesses have to adapt to changing consumer tastes in order to survive?! Oh my god! The horrors of capitalism know no bounds! Businesses should be able to do the same exact thing forever and stay in business!
I can’t make it any farther into the article than that. I’m tapping out.
And what a glorious morning is always is as we have the greatest internet troll as President.
If Trump really wants Greenland he should make an offer directly to the citizens thereof: everyone gets $1M if they vote to become a territory of the US. I think that would be a sufficient inducement, and it would buy the whole place at $104/acre, with the money going to better use than into the pockets of some Danish bureaucrats.
People would vote for it. If they’re rational.
I would pay them in Lego though.
He should do the same for Canada. Everyone gets a free hockey puck!
INT. Trump’s office.
Trump: Ok, we’ll give each Canadian $1 million to buy Canada excluding Quebec. Send the Canadian delegation in.
They walk in with caribou hats, a harmonica and Lacrosse jerseys drinking hootch. They sit down suspiciously eying the President.
Trump: We’re prepared to give you all the free pucks…..
Gordie (jumps from Chesterfield): WE’LL TAKE IT!
They all high five each other and walk out.
Nate to Gordie: Americans are so slow, eh?
Look back at Trump and laugh.
Trump gives big grin and thumbs up.
Pay them in beer and boxing gloves.
Is there a simple and useful outline of the Epstein situation?
I’m supposed to believe that
a/ dozens of parents neglected their daughters so severely that he had unchaperoned access to them
b/ the girls didn’t fight like bobcats over things they didn’t want to do
c/ the girls didn’t immediately report their felonious treatment
d/ many of the girls returned or remained in this situation for weeks, months, years ?
It might have happened, but I need someone to draw me a picture. The reporting so far is vague because it focuses on generating outrage instead of delivering details.
How well were they paid?
Also, emotional abuse and grooming can cause people to not talk about things that have happened to them.
Why do people return to abusive relationships time and time again?
Nothing you have raised is incredible or even all that odd.
Nothing you have raised is incredible or even all that odd.
That’s totally fair given my shorthand. Let me put it another way: all this happened to hundreds of girls and in not a single case was he called on it.
Except he was, but the prosecutions dragged their feet or gave him extraordinary leniency.
go figure
Other than the case right now you mean…
I’m pretty sure Alex Jones had some dirt or some kind. Now whether it was legit I don’t know.
Didn’t he always hammer at this?
He was investigated and indicted back in the mid-2000’s, but then a secret deal was made to let him off the hook. The Florida prosecutor said he was told by people (presumably in the federal government) that he was untouchable and to let him off.
Sounds to me like he just paid them a well and they took it. The threat of violence seems only to be implied because of his wealth and connections. Still makes him a scumbag.
My understanding is that a lot of the parents sold the kids into a “modeling career”.
Not much different than the parents who audition their kids for Disney or Nickelodeon TV shows. You have to be an idiot to not believe those organizations are full of pedos.
Shit, Nickelodeon only finally got rid of Dan Schneider last year.
“Is there a simple and useful outline of the Epstein situation?”
Yes. Dead men tell no tales.
Lots of women did whatever Harvey Weinstein wanted because they thought they’d become famous actresses. And those were adults. Epstein (allegedly) used “at risk” teenagers, from poor/broken homes, and gave them money and promised modeling jobs. Plus there was always the implied threat that if you accused someone rich an powerful, nobody would believe you, and they could make your life a living hell. In some ways it’s not a lot different than the abuse in the Catholic church.
OMWC approves.
but seriously. So many kids are screaming for attention. I go places with my kids and do things with them and there is invariably a kid that wants adult attention. I’m not even sure I see a parent around (if yes, staring at a phone). Sometimes include the kid in what were doing, other times I don’t as I’m here to spend time with my kids so they feel close to me.
It’s not a stretch to think that some girls got some validation by being paid attention by these people (daddy issues!). And if they got some sweet cash as well, even better. Feeling a little icky typing that last one
Yeah, I was at a good friend’s house for a pool party, basically an excuse to get his grown friends somewhere they could turn their kids loose and have a beer in peace. One woman’s daughter, who I’m guessing was around 10, was in my grill the whole time. There was some turbulence at home–not the mom’s fault, just a bad situation in the process of resolution–and for whatever reason this girl wanted to hang out with a grown, stable-looking man. Obviously there was nothing creepy, but that was for sure a vulnerable kid, and those kids are easy to manipulate.
Anybody else hungry for some cheese pizza?
The New York Post we know and love
The city’s cops are fed up, and it’s easy to understand why. Still, this is no time to abandon New Yorkers.
Yes, they’ve been abused, disrespected — even smeared by their own mayor. The final straw: their commissioner’s decision to fire one of their own for just doing his job.
On Monday, Police Commissioner James O’Neill dismissed Officer Daniel Pantaleo over the 2014 death of Eric Garner. That followed a spate of outright attacks on police, from water-dousings to physical confrontations.
——
Police Benevolent Association head Pat Lynch is now telling members to consult with supervisors before making arrests, urging they use the “utmost caution” and document every instruction. In short, a police version of a work slowdown. It’s dangerous stuff; he needs to tone it down.
True, it’s unthinkable that New York’s Finest would shirk from their duty. Despite the attacks, they’re dedicated, heroic officers, committed to protecting their fellow citizens. Yet they’ve been pushed pretty far.
Cops need to hang tough and do their jobs. They’re New Yorkers’ only line of defense. But public officials — the city’s district attorneys, lawmakers and the mayor himself — need to back them up.
It’s not enough for de Blasio & Co. to say nice things about the police; they need to show their support, via, for example, full-tilt prosecutions of law-breakers, particularly those who attack police.
Suck harder. Get it all. Fellate those heroes in blue.
I’m not sure one could suck much harder than that.
You’ve obviously never met Winston’s mom.
I figured that would be Jazz Shaw
“decision to fire one of their own for just doing his job”
Murdering folks for disrespecting is just part of the job.
I mean that’s true… It’s not like they have a Second Amendment there or anything.
Huh. Thought the BoR was incorporated.
“FYTW” clause…
for just doing his job
Excessive use of force resulting in death for minor infractions* is just “doing his job”.
*that shouldn’t even be infractions…
They’re New Yorkers’ only line of defense.
This could be solved by an embrace of 2A rights.
Absolutely kick ass song Banjos!
I’m not a big Nirvana fan, but I thought Kurt did a hell of a job on their cover of it.
You are the only Glib I respect. Thank you.
I like both.
I never liked them much. But they did a song one song that was prophetic, All Apologies.
Lithium. Great song and hopefully a comeback drug.

Gym thoughts:
Pondering why I get frustrated with the left calling Trump a fascist. He clearly is, and had always had an authoritarian bent. What I realized is that I think I get frustrated at the sanctimony of it all. What we are seeing is a political struggle between populist fascists and elitist fascists. Hypocrisy also annoys me as they wouldn’t give a shit what Trump did if he just renounced his populist ties. Almost everything he has done has been what has been done for decades at this point.
Getting frustrated by hypocrisy and sanctimony are understandable, though not very constructive.
Opposition to Trump is, and always has been, a matter of taste and of the fact that he’s not part of “the club”. Political outsiders running from time-to-time is cute and helps add credence to the illusion of choice; however, they must never, ever win.
Fascism. It seems everyone means something different with all of these labels.
Everything they throw at him is because he’s a Republican. They were calling Mitt Romney “literally Hitler” for g-d’s sake. Trump’s just fighting back, which makes it more infuriating to them.
Trump is a fascist, how?
Put another way: is there any overlap between Elizabeth Warren’s economic proposals and what Trump is doing? Because I think she is the most fascistic of the candidates, so I use her as a benchmark.
Trump is a mercantilist. He sees industry as a closed guild, and he sees the job of the government to manage the spigots of trade to the best advantage of the guilds.
Warren is a fascist. She sees industry as something that can still stay organized as a private-profit-generator, but that needs to be bent to the aims of government by placing party members in key veto-making positions within the company and in key veto-making positions between companies. Then, the opportunity to seek out profits can be used to bribe the private owners to behave in ways that the state decides benefit the state, and to reward loyal party members.
There’s no way to read The Vampire Economy and see more of Trump than of Warren.
But Trump is a mercantilism that physically resembles Mussolini and sometimes sounds a bit like him, and Warren is a fascist that sounds like a modern, educated, cosmopolitan. And people that write for a living in 2019 only write (or know) about monkey-status games, so Trump is totally a fascist.
It might have happened, but I need someone to draw me a picture. The reporting so far is vague because it focuses on generating outrage instead of delivering details.
Those dumb bunnies were too pathetically feckless and impotent to be allowed to make their own choices. They need guidance from morally superior arbiters of appropriate behavior.
“The reporting so far is vague because it focuses on generating outrage instead of delivering details.”
If anyone has paid attention to the democrat platform, I think they best stick to outrage and stop talking about the insane shit they are proposing.

It’s a crappy poem and a stupid sentiment, by a georgist. Georgism is just the labor theory of value restated with a distinction between forms of capital (that makes little sense).

I expected him to jump me already. (Georgism is still socialism light though)
Plot twist: the robc signal is a brush fire.
Referring to foreigners as huddled masses and wretched refuse doesn’t seem very woke to me.
Trump’s tweet about Wayne Allyn Root has me wondering again: Who’s the most embarrassing LP Vice Presidential Candidate: Root or Weld?
Barr was pretty bad.
Oh shit, you said VP. I’ll say Weld.
Barr was easily the worst on the top line.
I’d say that Root is the most embarrassing on the VP line, but it’s close. He’s a terrible human being, but he never outright campaigned for the Dem candidate.
Weld.
Answer: yes

Embarrassing for who? Themselves? Not me. Never voted for either.
Saudi judge takes custody away from mom for being too western:

Now for “the rest of the story”
Mom has a degree in islamic studies and taught at a Saudi university.
Uh….. seems you didn’t study hard enough….
Maybe the “has a degree” is the part that’s too western.
Good for her that she doesn’t live in dangerous America.
She certainly wouldn’t have fared too well, what with our 5 out of 4 women being raped on college campuses. I’m sure there’s no rape in Saudi Arabia at all since pornography is illegal and everyone therefore respects women.
Also, America would have caused her to become a victim by allowing to wear revealing clothing. Better to get a little stoning than to be a victim of the male gaze.
SJWednesday: Violence Is Speech, Speech Is Violence
If your ideas are good just argue with them and crush them that way, if your ideas need to be protected from scrutiny because they’re full of holes you’re doomed to eventually fail no matter what you do.
Just applying a beatdown in the name of fighting fascism is far more efficient.
They’re trying to float the idea for 1A restrictions in the same manner as 2A restrictions. They’re going to insist that they support that right, but it has become much more dangerous due to recent events and must be restricted. They’ll swear up and down that it’s only to protect the public and it will only affect evil people intent on wreaking havoc, but everyone will soon find their rights being curtailed.
Between the hysteria about “violent rhetoric” and “foreign interference”, I have no doubt that the Democrats will absolutely shred the 1A if they ever get the chance.
“I have no doubt that the Democrats will absolutely shred the 1A if they ever get the chance.”
What they really want is a social credit system like China has. And I can guarantee if you ask any of the 2020 candidates on the debate stage, they will admit it.
The left in America is working its way into Wiemar. People ridiculously parrot the notion that Hitler rose to power because “no one stood up to him”. That’s simply not true. The communists and the Nazis were perpetually fighting in the streets. And the communists were every bit as predatory and vicious as the brownshirts. And for a lot of Germans, the Nazis were the ones doing the standing up to thuggery from the communists. And the “respectable parties” on both sides were happy to let the thugs on their side run roughshod over the other while decrying to high heaven any attacks from the other side. Even for the exact same thing thugs on their own side had just done. That creates an environment where the respectable parties inevitably have to give way to the thugs.
That sleight of hand is already underway. We have to fight against dangerous Nazi extremists. Also, everyone who disagrees with me is a dangerous Nazi extremist.
Look, only totally fair individuals, who totally agree with me on everything, will get to decide who can’t have free speech. So nothing to worry about.
The founders didn’t have military style rhetoric.
Between the hysteria about “violent rhetoric” and “foreign interference”, I have no doubt that the Democrats will absolutely shred the 1A if they ever get the chance.
I can hear it now: “I believe in free speech, but the 1st Amendment isn’t a suicide pact.”
Okay. Let’s take them at their word. Now let’s look at the numbers. Nazis and Fascists have killed what? 25 million in WWII? Maybe another 5 million since? Now lets look at communism? What’s its death toll? 100 million? 120? If it’s okay to jail or attack ostensible nazis or fascists, then the numbers tell us in no uncertain terms that it’s only right and proper to do the same to ostensible communists or socialists.
You have to add in “intention” and “equality”.
^This. With the caveat that factions in both parties have gone after the 1st (as they do with all liberties) I can see this insidious link being formed in the public mind between speech and violence that implies speech should be regulated in the same way for the purposes of safety. Of course, this ends at banning or killing via regulation speech that challenges popular (as defined by the regulators) opinion as too dangerous, lest it rile up emotions and drive people to violence.
“ave been filled with ostensible liberals warning that young, leftist, and progressive activists are pushing America toward fascism.”
I’m not the bad guy!!!
the state’s support and protection of white supremacists
They have the same speech rights as everyone else.
warning…progressive activists are pushing America toward fascism
Proggies are the fascists they claim to hate.
I’ve been disheartened to see not only conservatives and fascists but also liberals criticizing those who protest against the free speech rights of the most vile groups in America.
Funny, I thought the big free speech marches were put on by conservatives and “fascists”, and protested by progressives and antifa(scists).

Yeah, this “conversation” we keep having on race reminds me of an argument with the wife.
After you give up and say “yes dear”, there isn’t a conversation any more. At that point is just one person haranguing the other person.
We came to an agreement on race some 40+ years ago. And we’ve implemented remedies upon remedies. At some point you’d think we could take yes for an answer and move on.
But there is power in victmhood and grievance mongering and they aren’t about to give that up

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/world-news/world-famous-porn-star-found-18965788
This is a great example of why I can’t get on the libertinearian bandwagon; “Isn’t porn great?!!!”
I’m not for state intervention or for the government dictating what people can and cannot do with their bodies, but I also can’t ignore the fact that that industry chews people up and spits them out and it’s fucked up.
You can be a libertarian and not a libertine.
A now I realize you typed “libertinearian” and have no idea what that is. So probably ignore my first sentence.
See my back and forth with Leon below. Basically the Ass-sex, Mexican, and weed type of libertarian that extols vice but doesn’t necessarily have principles beyond that. IOW; The Jacket.
Basically the Ass-sex, Mexican, and weed type of libertarian
We already have a pejorative for that: “cosmos”.
Well, this goes to the notion that something being legal doesn’t mean that it’s advisable. I don’t want porn to be criminalized. I also sure as shit wouldn’t advise anyone to make a career of it.
What in the shit? That’s no shit, she’s actually famous. I wonder what happened with the money. She doesn’t look like there’s a serious drug issue going on there, either.
I’m guessing mental disorder, it’s not like porn attracts stable people to begin with.
So, by way of personal anecdote, years back a friend of mine took up with this chick who was, well, a reasonably attractive chick who was super, super nerdy. Not like good at math, more like Ren Fest and crystals type of nerd. Anyway, they move in together. Turns out her sister needs a place to stay and they need some help with the mortgage for a bit, so she moves in. She’s a complete smokeshow, and, as it turns out, an “exotic dancer”. Not Irish step-dancing like the nerdy girl, mind you. Anyway, smoked weed pretty much all the time, drank like a fish, dressed, well, like a stripper, and was a walking cry for help. Thing was, I remember hanging out over there and chatting with her before she went to work, and when you got past the bedazzled cell phone and the bleach-blonde hair, she was smart, had a pretty sharp sense of humor, very nice, genuinely charming, and desperately lonely. I think it was later that year she tried to kill herself. Through my friend I found out that the father had been out of the picture for years and the mother had dated but never remarried.
Probably good money in exotic Irish step dancing. Girl I knew back-when had to give it up because she was too embarrassed about how it made her boobs bounce up and down…
When this guy told me she was way, way into step dancing–back when he was infatuated with her, prior to their unhappy marriage and bitter divorce, mind you–it took all my poker-face powers to not say, “For real!?” She was in decent shape when they started dating, but by the time they were a serious item she was already heading towards pear-shaped.
What’s funny is I ran into her at an old friend’s birthday party last year, about two years after their divorce, and she’s lost all the weight. She looks fantastic, honestly, and she was so thoroughly on the pull that she took one look at my wedding ring, filed that under “Things to be Ignored”, and went straight to, “You doin’ anything after this?”
Wait… what??
Morlocks?
I don’t care because: markets
but get this: Last summer, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” generated nearly 18 percent of Fox News’ advertising revenue, according to iSpot.tv. A year later, the show accounts for 13 percent of advertising revenue.
Carlson (and most partisan wrangling) bores me, but even that lower stat is still extremely impressive.
After having been the number one profit generator for years, I was dismissed during my firm’s Great Recession reset. I’m still trying to figure out how they were going to get better by getting rid of the best.
“We’ll higher several cheaper people for less and make it up in volume!”
That isn’t unique at all.
I worked with one group in our company with a small sales force. The president of that division had a reputation for playing favorites and having a thing for sycophants. The sales manager was “his boy”. And the sales manager was the “buddy manager” with the sales team.
They brought in a new guy. My team worked with him to train him on the CRM/Telephony system. He listened. We told him that the way to make money was to stay on the phone. That’s it. Sales is a numbers game, so all things being equal, more contacts equals more sales.
So the new guy quickly becomes the top sales guy. The other guys start complaining. He’s stealing leads. So they call us to investigate.
I pull a bunch of reports and show them that he was indeed first contact on all of his deals. And that he was spending twice the time on the phone of the rest of the team. Of course he was closing more deals. A lot more.
So, they fired him. Of course.
The logic that they settled on was the cohesion of the rest of the team was worth more than the extra few deals he was closing.
People will rationalize anything.
Florida man arrested after in-home castration goes wrong
https://www.tampabay.com/news/bizarre/2019/08/20/florida-man-arrested-after-in-home-castration-goes-wrong/
Is there any other way it could go?
*cringe*
Castration always means something has gone wrong.
I’m all for self castration but can’t we get people to fund it voluntarily?
Cosmo-libertinism? That’s how I’ve seen it at least. People like ENB and Shika have a strange sense of morality, mostly it seem, centered around doing what they want to do.
I assume you meant to reply to my comment on the pornstar article. Someone very astutely pointed out when we were talking about the Dave Smith Vs. Nick Gillespie debate that for many mainstream Big “L” types that “socially liberal” is their only real guiding priciple, or as you so succinctly put it “doing what they want to do.”
If this is why someone is a libertarian that doesn’t make them principled, It makes them the kind of person you should stay far away from.
“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law” sounds cool when you are 15, but it’s not way to live your life.
Yeah, if “it is illegal” is your only reason for not doing something, there is an issue.
Similarly, if “it isn’t illegal” is a justification for doing something wrong, there also is an issue. That one is probably worse, but it is confined to an individual.
Agree or disagree: The less the government, the more moral the people have to be to have good society. The more the government, the more moral the bureaucrats, dictators, kings, politicians, and so on have to be to have good society.
Pithy point. It would be good for everyone to consider your point before entering the voting booth.
Oops didn’t realize I Gilmored that.
Assuming the article is accurate, it was not self castration, but both the alleged patient and the person accused of practicing medicine without a license are accused of engaging in mutually voluntary behavior.
Here’s a bit of history for you. Sgt. Boston Corbett, who shot John Wilkes Booth, drank himself senseless and castrated himself with a pair of scissors. Ouch.
Ozy – great post last night.
Is prospective injunctive relief not an option here? This seems to be a negotiation for settlement “if they’ll just take this shot, all will be forgiven. No court-martial; no NJP; nothing. The whole unfortunate incident will be put behind them”. Is that no as much of a hard-no in the military context as it is in the civilian context?
Moreover, if Marine that made it through his term (aka not a wilting flower) gives consent only after being subject to enough coercion to make them cry, there’s no way that, in a civilian context, he gave informed consent. Does the military need informed consent to administer a procedure that was ordered by a commanding officer?

Had Joseph Rubino not wrecked his car, he might still be living with a house full of guns in New Jersey.
But on the morning of 24 July, Mr Rubino was driving his white Chevy van on Route 517 in Allamuchy, New Jersey, when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree, seriously injuring himself and a passenger.
When officers from the New Jersey State Police began extracting him from the wreckage, they noticed something unsettling in the van: a stockpile of assault weapons and ammunition.
In a subsequent search of his home, police said they found more than a dozen other weapons, drugs and a box of neo-Nazi paraphernalia.
——
Officers also found a document labelled with a racial epithet “containing racist material and purporting to be an instruction manual for owning a slave,” prosecutors said.
Why Mr Rubino kept such a large arsenal — a collection the police say included semi-automatic handguns, shotguns, rifles with scopes and a grenade launcher — remains unclear. But the arrest comes as the nation is already on edge after a spate of recent mass shootings, at least one of which was inspired by racist hatred, and the arrests in the past week of three men who authorities said were planning attacks.
——
Although Mr Rubino’s motivation for harbouring such an arsenal remains unclear, all these arrests come as federal law enforcement officials grapple with a resurgent white supremacist threat, the rise of which some say has been aided by rhetoric from the White House and conservative media outlets. The arrests come a decade after the federal government effectively disbanded the Department of Homeland Security team that tracked domestic terrorism.
Fourth Reich fifth column.
Presumption of guilt is the only sensible response to people like this. The police stopped him moments before he slaughtered hundreds of innocent people. Give him the chair (and not the comfy one).
Odds on the “grenade launcher” being a potato gun?
I also like how the side of the political spectrum that ostensibly used to be the ‘civil libertarians’ are now unabashed supporters of the police state.
The truth is that most of them were never civil libertarians. They simply wanted their side’s civil liberties observed. Civil liberties was a tactic and not a principle. That’s why you’ll find so many leftists who applauded the free speech on campuses movement in the 1960s are the most gleeful censors of today.
Thats why I love the word ostensibly (thanks Archer!) 🙂

Pretty much any supposed virtue on the left needs to be prefaced with ostensibly…….
then again it’s the same for the right too
What’s strange is usually the party not in power is the one for civil liberties.
Ahhh potato gun.
Went into the hardware store with a plan and the employee (older guy) knew exactly what was going on. He then offered a few helpful ideas to make it work better. Later that evening shooting taters on location at my friends property. good times.

Should add that was 10th grade. Now, working at a stainless steel fabrication shop, I shudder to think of what sort of “potato gun” I could come up with.
Potato gun should be on the required build list for all kids. That’s about as fun as it gets.
BTW, I found that using WD-40 as the propellant makes for a satisfying visual, with dark black clouds of soot encasing a fiery red flame as the projectile launches.
Missing from our lexicon due to the evolution of the soda can – the tennis ball cannon. Made from 3 cans with the bottoms cut out of 2. Duct tape together to make a barrel, aligning drinking holes. Poke hole in the side at the very bottom. Squirt lighter fluid in bottom, toss several times to mix vapor… Load tennis ball… Touch match to hole…. Fwwooomp!
A satisfying way to spend an afternoon. That all ended with the demise of the pull top can.
My brother made one of those. Shot it up and down the street. no cops were dispatched to the scene.
Officers also found a document labelled with a racial epithet “containing racist material and purporting to be an instruction manual for owning a slave,” prosecutors said.
Who would need an instruction manual for owning a slave?
Right? I’d think it’s basically, 1.) Get person, 2.) Keep person from leaving, 3.) Make person do things.
This doesn’t say much about some of my friends, but assuming the manual was a gag this could’ve been my friends and I on our abortive attempt to go shooting last Saturday. The joke of the day was, “Let’s not get pulled over. I don’t want to explain to the cop that we’ll have his backup outgunned, too.”
I have a genuine fear of being pulled over while I’ve got my guns in the car with me. It would be easy to get Philandro Castiled and the media/cop narrative would be:
“Loner white male was killed on his way to commit mass shooting. Preliminary investigation reveals he posted hundreds of messages on far-right messages on alt-right/Nazi messaage boards. Also known to enjoy Trump/Russian style Hamburgers.”
>>alt-right/Nazi messaage boards
is that us?
::uses secret signal::
“These message boards were the home of many extreme positions to include the unfettered and absolute right o bear arms, the abolition of the US Government, the banning of pineapple on Pizza and the crytozoological pseudoscience conspirary of the existence of Rapesquatch.”
??
Ok, just imagine one of the writers from Jezebel visiting our little safe space.
Now answer the question again.
The only time I’ve ever been in an accident, I had enough smokewagon iron in the trunk to make the car’s tail end run just a touch low. “Fortunately” for me, the guy who hit me spilled his open Modello all over himself and is a Not Formally Documented Valuable Contribution To The American Community. Once the cops figured out I didn’t need medical care, that my car was drivable, and that the trunk would stay latched*, they didn’t really care.
*Given the damage, it wasn’t clear if the trunk was damaged or not, and having a cop sniff around to look at the damage, I figured I needed to verbally let him know before he saw something and assumed I was hiding it.
**This was a month after and within 10 miles of where Philandro got Philandro’ed.
That’s my dilemma; tell them upfront about the firearms or hope they don’t see them. Anecdotal evidence points to either one getting you in trouble, possibly cuffed and arrested, for exercising your constitutional rights.
Read the room, but if they’re being transported according to whatever the state law happens to be, I would err on the side of caution and at least mention them *IF* they would be found in a legal search of the vehicle. If they’re in your trunk and you get clipped for speeding, don’t bother, but if you’ve got a pistol case on the passenger floor I guarantee you the cop sees it, so it might be a good idea to just be open about the elephant in the room, so to speak.
Related: These No Duty to Inform amendments have been a blessing. Some say hand him your carry card with your license.
No way for me: you gotta pry it out of me.
In my Texas days, this was another residue of the slow crawl to freedom that dominates there instead of simple high principle. Result: a guy who qualified (by behaving all his life and paying $100) for a carry license had a duty to inform, whereas someone with a felonious record had a right to keep a gun in his car under Peaceable Journey whilst incurring no duty to inform.
General rule of thumb for me is:
1) Don’t offer up any information to a cop when not required to.
2) But don’t allow them to learn of a firearm with their eyes, and
3) Never, ever, use the word gun. “I want to let you know that there is a weapon [in the trunk, cased under the seat, by my right hip]. How would you like to move forward?”
Generally, if a cop is running a licence in this state, the get back the person’s permit status, which is basically learning with their eyes (even if the person is not carrying), so make sure they know before they run your license if your state is the same way (I bet it is).
In addition, I would never reach for my wallet if there is a firearm in the car without doing #3 first. That’s what happened to Philandro. If a cop is going to get shakey and order you out of your car just for the verbal heads-up that there’s a firearm in the car, he’s the one that’s going to perforate you if you don’t say something first. You are already down shit creek when he turned on his lights, and you just need to treat him like a dangerous dog you can’t get away from yet.
IME, outside of the ghetto, 99% of the cops will treat a well dressed, articulate person with a firearm in their car without too much hassle if you you are slow, deliberate, and verbal. (my experience doesn’t include NYC, Cali, or DC… every metro I’ve lived in has been in a state with moderate to high firearm ownership outside of the metro).
Don – Right, Duty to Inform laws are a bad idea. In an interaction with a cop that doesn’t involve running my driver’s licence or a search, I likely won’t inform about any weapons I may or may not be carrying. I need to go figure out if a licence plate scan returns ccw status nowadays in my state. I bet it does.
if a (license) plate scan returns ccw status
Yes: in most places they get it all, spouses, and I haven’t even been asked for insurance card in years
FWIW: I’m told repeatedly that many cops view a permit as a good-guy cert. Cops hate me, so I’ve clearly cancelled out any such advantage.
I have never believed the line that cops view ccw as a ‘good guy cert’, though I’ve heard it said more than once. Seems like one of those theories that doesn’t survive first contact with reality. And even if, say 95% do, its the other 05% that act like rabid dogs with qualified immunity that I’m worried about anyway.
The * was a smart move. If you’re not the obvious problem when a cop shows up they’re not going to zero in on you as long as they don’t get surprised by anything, especially if you don’t seem like the kind of person who’s doing something naughty.
That being said I’ve heard of people (mostly in suburbs/metro areas) that had the cops freak out when they told them they had a firearm in the car (as required by state law). Officer Shakey then proceeds to remove them from the car, call for back up and now wants to search the vehicle. Your approach is prbably the better way to go unless you get the wrong cop on the wrong day
I make it a point, whenever possible, to dress like I’m going into the office whenever I i) load up my trunk for a trip to the range or ii) take my hammock to the local park for a Sunday afternoon nap.
Both are 100% legal, but both might require me to convince a cop I’m not a violent or crazy person.
Well my fear is that I get Ofc. Skippy decides he’s gonna prove he’s a man by searching the car and then finds a gun, freaks, and either shoots me or hauls me in claiming that I was unlawfully concealing a firearm or some shit.

Gilmore, may he RIP (I can only assume he’s died as he hasn’t posted).
I’m not sure if he got busy or if he got tired of us. I almost feel like he made a brief reappearance a while back and then disappeared again.
Well we are assholes, so……
All of a sudden I am seeing all of these stories, like this one, that fit the white nationalist horseshit narrative a little too neatly. I am calling bullshit.
The news on the radio this morning informed me that, since the El Paso shooting, law enforcement has foiled six mass shootings that may have been motivated by racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, etc.
That is right near my house! I would have been tempted to help them toss the guns into the woods if I had happened upon the accident before the cops.

Was it this? http://www.angelfire.com/ne/savedbygrace/lynch.html
“Rubino was convicted in 1999 of writing a bad check, prosecutors said – a felony that makes his possession of any firearm illegal.”
It’s going to seem weird that I nitpicked this, but I actually think this is outrageous.
Take that, Trump!
Setting up two big elements of your base to fight each other over the scraps you’re throwing at them is a bold strategy, Cotton.

The Burrito Standard:
If you finish it, it wasn’t big enough,
If you didn’t, it sucked,
/random thought……
My formative years were spent with Depression-era grandparents, so if it’s possible to keep something down and it’s on my plate, I eat it until there’s nothing left. I might not go back for seconds, mind you, but I’ve put down some God-awful food rather than waste it.
I grew up like that, and I’m happy to be able to say fuck off Mom!
Sitting in my kitchen,
Stuffed from having ate,
What should I do now with what’s left on my plate,
Maybe I should donate it, but naughty, I got the cash,
I think I’ll take the easy way, and throw it in the trash,

Depression-era parents here. I often find myself eating borderline leftovers because I can’t stand to waste food.
I remind the wife not to make so much, the kids are long gone, it’s a waste of food/ money, Bella dogs it of course
Another unkillable tendency inherited from my Depression-era parents: Make large portions and live off of them for a week to save money.
Re: The Burrito Standard
Like many standards, it’s difficult to use it to get a specific answer. I like it.
There’s nothing wrong with the burrito standard in theory. In practice, it only works well if you calibrate your burrito to one of three iridium burrito-standards kept in a vacuum chamber in some museum in France.
