The bad part about taking a vacation and not glibbing for a while is I have a stupid completionist drive that means that I have to go back to where I left off and read all the articles and comments before getting to the current stuff.
The skies don’t have an overall theme this week. Sun-Mercury-Saturn portends endings, and Sun-Earth-Moon which we’ve already discussed before (in case you don’t remember — balance, harmony, righteousness, general empowerment). Mercury conjoined with Venus in Scorpio warns of a syphilis outbreak, hopefully this won’t affect anyone here. There is a dual reading to Mars in Libra: a stalemate, or a balance broken by hostilities. Usually you can tell by the way Mars relates to the other planets, but this time it’s just doing its own thing.
This weeks draws are as follows:
Libra: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches; family matters, archives, extraction, the abode of a family
Scorpio: The Star – Loss, theft, privation, abandonment, hope and bright prospects
Sagittarius: Blank card, the Card with No Face – Freedom, removal of limitations, Spaghetti Westerns
Capricorn: Page of Swords – Authority, overseeing, secret service, vigilance, spying, examination
Aquarius: 2 of Cups – Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy, the interrelation of the sexes
Pisces: 7 of Swords reversed – Good advice, counsel, instruction, slander, babbling
Aries: 4 of Cups – Weariness, disgust, aversion, imaginary vexations
Taurus: Queen of Cups – Good, fair woman; honest, devoted woman, who will do service to you; loving intelligence, and hence the gift of vision; success, happiness, pleasure; also wisdom, virtue; a perfect spouse and a good mother
Gemini : 3 of Coins – Métier, trade, skilled labor, nobility, aristocracy, renown, glory
Cancer: The Emperor – Stability, power, protection, realization, a great person, aid, reason, conviction, authority, will
Leo: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment
Virgo: Knight of Cups – Arrival, approach–sometimes that of a messenger; advances, proposition, demeanor, invitation, incitement
Whoa. Awesome.
First?
“who will do service to you”
Wait, you’re Winston’s mum?
If I get to look like the vacuuming redheaded demon, then yes.
I see you’ve gained a sycophant.
For shame, Not Adahn, for shame.
Hush and watch the game.
Yes, ma’am.
I’m just jelly because I’m also a Taurus and I don’t see how any of that pertains to me.
DenverJ is that you?
Virgo: Knight of Cups – Arrival, approach–sometimes that of a messenger; advances, proposition, demeanor, invitation, incitement
sounds like an opportunity to me,
Howdy!
Howdy, fellow Kniget of Cups.
Well, THAT’S kind of a weird mixed bag…
Guess you hope you find the shit that got stolen?
And in reply to your comment about Kroger earlier (I was at church)- I did see that. I wonder if the NAACP and their lackeys are going to be out in force protesting to keep the store open, out of ‘food desert’ fears like the Aldi, or when Target in Trotwood shut down.
Naw. Wrong demographic.
Yeah, no kidding, you got half of the typical Capricorn (Loss, theft, abandonment) forecast and half of pretty much anyone else.
Gemini : 3 of Coins – Métier, trade, skilled labor, nobility, aristocracy, renown, glory
Nice. Glory is Fleeting, but skilled Labor is forever!
All of those describe me! 😉
Aries: 4 of Cups – Weariness, disgust, aversion, imaginary vexations
All Aries work for large companies of governmental agencies?
“or” not “of”
Hmmmm, on further review either could work.
“Capricorn: Page of Swords – Authority, overseeing, secret service, vigilance, spying, examination”
Yay, I’m going to be part of the deep state! Everyone be afraid!
I assumed you already were.
Before I got married, I was doing the online dating thing and one lady started chatting with me and we got around to the ‘What do you do?’ part and she say’s I work for the NSA. I had this pause and I’m thinking ‘WTF? Is she joking?’. So I pulled out some quick wit and said ‘Are you spying on me?’ and she says ‘Should I be?’, and I’m like ‘Goodbye’, lol, seriously.
DUDE! I’ve been binge watching the Sabata series, Rio Bravo, Once Upon A Time In The West, and Straight To Hell the past 2 days. Also, as a PatrioPsychotic-AnarchoMaterialist, I’m looking forward to the freedom and removal of limitations.
Not a serious Western, but hilarious. If you haven’t, you should watch A Million Ways to Die in the West. I seriously haven’t larfed my arse off in a long time like I did watching that. The only thing else I can remember laughing that hard at in the past 10 years was I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.
Leo: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment
*happy*
*digs deeper*
Dang it.
OK, that makes more sense. As written I was wondering what was wrong.
WTF is everyone?
Today I’m identifying as a stud field mouse.
Oh, you meant where. I’m Huluing on my laptop while I wait for the Falcants to disappoint me again.
It’s y’all’s fault I’m reduced to Reddit for entertainment. Today, I have clicked on 2 NSFW vids I wish I hadn’t. Y’all’s fault.
And yet, you don’t share. We don’t have to leave all the NSFW for Q to deliver.
HM handles the NSFS
I will share:
One guy slicing the tip off his cod.
One guy hanging himself from a rope by his cod.
No, I did not have any inkling what they were when I clicked. Generally on r/awfuleverything, NSFW means gigantically inflated ducklips and shitty makeup from Instagram “stars”.
I watched so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.
“I watched so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.”
Thank you for your service.
There is not a chance in this reality I would ever see “r/awfuleverything” and think, “Hm, let’s click on that”.
What can I say. I’m a lookie-loo.
For instance, a normal r/awfuleverything is a picture of a bologna cake with mayo and mustard icing.
Isn’t there a website (somethingawful?) that specializes in gross-out? Probably confusing the two.
I don’t know. I just know that the subreddit is usually innocuous stuff like too much Botox and bologna cakes. And sometimes stuff like that is marked NSFW ironically.
rotten.com?
That must be it.
It had some pretty gnarly stuff. One pic I saw was a guy who tried to scale a 8-ish foot tall wrought iron fence. You know, the kind where the vertical iron bars just end in a point? Yah. Don’t know why I looked at that.
There were a lot of Man vs. Train pictures, as well
For a book, I needed to know how a grisly scene would look (I’ll spare you). I had to dig pretty deep, but I finally found a site that just posts pics and vids of people dying in various ways. I found what I needed to know, but I lost that URL. On purpose.
Yeah, that.
somethingawful.com is a website that’s sort of a bunch of random articles and stuff, probably 3/4 shitposting, but kind of like a tame 4chan with better production value. Their “Photoshop Phriday” section is good verging on superb at times.
*bows head, squirms uncomfortably*
NSFW
LOL That’s a catchy little tune.
I like how this whole community hovered around then decided on “cunte” and “cod” as correct terminology. It’s heartwarming!
They tapped into our cultural memory or our collective unconscious or something and just felt…right.
I do feel warm and fuzzy! ???
Interesting, I’d say everyone is a collective pronoun.
A few Muppets. And some of (((Them))) and [[[Those]]] folk.
[[[2:00 p.m.]]]
Between busy weekend, and kids waking me up, we called it of cause we were both feeling sick this morning.
I have been calling off quite a bit the last few months because I have been too angry to be in the right mindset. Today is the first time I will be going to church without being furious in a very long time.
Yay! Mojeaux has her mojo back!
? Yes, very happy. Lots of bumps in the road ahead, but now there’s hope.
“I will be going to church without being furious in a very long time.”
That means you’re going to hell, or else you’d be angry and telling everyone else they’re going to hell. So, who’s side are you own? Oh wait, I already got it, you wanted to be the red haired vacuum jockey demon, I see, albino devil woman!
I am NOT albino. I am GLOW IN THE DARK.
Wait, [[[we]]] get brackets? When did this happen?
A loooooong time ago. I’m surprised anybody remembered.
I’m cleaning house, frying chicken and sausages, and watching Jimmy Carr videos while waiting for wifey to bring the kids home from theater camp.
Im waiting to see the BenGIRLS disappoint me yet again.
But at least not against the Benless Squealers, at least not today.
This just never gets old. Shame they wont play it any longer.

Made a gallon of salsa, drinking a beer, thinking about making a from scratch pizza. Well, not really, I bought the crusts I use at Fresh Market.
I’m digging out the berry bushes/plants and rehoming them for next year.
I will be digging garden hoses out from under a foot of snow-slush.
We got about 2′ total. The good news it is melting fairly quickly. The bad news is that it turns to slush before it completely goes away. 2 feet of snow makes for very deep slush.
Not to worry, it’ll be gone by Halloween and you will still be able to go T and T with OMWC. He’ll need to stock up on the free stuff for another year, you can earn and learn at the same time.
I find that when that happens here, our trees are horribly misshapen from the weight. My arbor vitae still haven’t recovered their shape from last winter.
Garden hoses are put away here, before the leaves started falling. A first for me.
Last year I picked up an adapter on Amazon for blowing out lines with your an air compressor. It’s designed for sprinkler lines but works just as well on hoses with a pancake tank. Gets most of the water out so they don’t drip all winter long. Amazing!
Usually my Sundays are quiet at work, not today! More problems than usual with far fewer resources than usual and pretty much everyone not caring about anything because it’s Sunday… and we’re at work.
Watching the Browns game while on a fscking call for work.
Offensive pass intereference:
Somebody explain to me why this is a rule. Isn’t this the entire POINT?!
Scoring, that’s why they switched from physicality in the pass game. Duh fanns lykes ta sea bigg numberers on deh scoarboord! Hyuk!
Because absent pass interference rules you end up with a slower, much more run focused brawl and football was less popular when it was that way. Rugby is probably a better game, but it isn’t as popular.
I effing hate offensive pass interference. It adds nothing to the game and it has no positive impact on player safety. It’s just another opportunity for the refs to blow a call.
It keeps the score from being 100 to 98 every week. The only way to get rid of it would to be to go lax on defensive PI, too. I wouldn’t be against that, but as Jarflax mentioned, it would become a much different game that the lowest common denominator would hate.
Since a couple of you are introverts, I thought there might be some interest in this Kindle deal ($2.99):
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking
by Susan Cain
I haven’t read it yet, but I watched a TED talk by her that I really liked. For what it’s worth, it’s gotten 106,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads.
“They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking” I don’t want to listen either. This seem appropriate
Her TED talk is good. Interestimg perspective how our education system shuns introverts and labelling us all sorts of things we are not.
“You’re quiet.”
“Well, not really, but thanks for being the seventy-five thousandth person to point that out to me.”
“You’re quiet.”
“You’re not.”
I really really loved this book. I get nonfiction on audiobook because I can’t stand reading nonfiction
Wut?
I have the attention span of an LSD-addled gnat.
Nonfiction is too much for my wee brain.
In my opinion, good nonfiction should read like fiction. Tracy Kidder’s The Soul of a New Machine comes immediately to mind.
I’m more of rabid ferret on a double espresso. (stolen analogy)
Sorry, Mike S, what did you say? I wasn’t paying attention.
See what I said about Minnesoda Nice? :-p
Ha!
People sometimes assume I’m unsociable or just mean because I do not care at all for small talk. If you have something interesting to say, I’ll talk to you, otherwise, I’m probably the quietest person in the room. It also kills me how in meetings everyone pretends to be over joyous happy, of course it’s 100% fake since none of us want to actually be there instead of almost anywhere else doing almost anything else. I just can’t do it. And it’s not going to change. I’m nice, but no fake happy.
Also, I’m not really introverted, just reserved because most people are just boring. If I’m in a group of interesting people I actually want to be around, I’m not introverted at all.
“ Libra: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches; family matters, archives, extraction, the abode of a family”
Idon’t even know what the hell that means.
Air Canada will no longer address their passengers Ladies and Gentlemen.
Da Comrade. This is goot.
Neither are Canadian prisons.
https://quillette.com/2019/10/12/male-bodied-rapists-are-being-imprisoned-with-women-why-do-so-few-people-care/
This is how you slowly gain acceptance for absurd positions. No one cares because CRIMINALS!!1!1!!!1 ARGLE BARGLE.
These idiots are putting known male sex-offenders in cages with female prisoners on nothing more than a dude saying “I identify as a woman.” It’s insanity.
Those prisoners are just trying to help the gender prisoner balance become more equal.
To be fair, Canadians are neither gentlemanly nor ladylike. It’s as much a put-on as Minnesoda Nice.
Well, bless your heart.
Proof: Canadian geese.
So they’re just going with “everybody” instead? I know I’m sort of a fuddy-duddy cultural conservative type, but it seems like every effort to make culture more “inclusive” or to avoid offending wamyn with outdated rituals of the patriarchy like holding doors open just coarsens us. It’s a shame that even the relatively minor bit of glamour afforded by referring to passengers as ladies and gentlemen is lost in an effort to satisfy the perpetually offended.
“Ladies” and “gentlemen” are elitist.
How about “Pimps and Hos”
Jarflax gets it.
https://youtu.be/Lva7xOJRRCA
Only if you don’t think the term applies to you. And it’s totes inclusive, because maybe for some people both terms apply.
SHUT THE FUCK UP, LIBTARD!
The real problem with ladies and gentlemen today, is that those are endangered species, foul mouth ill mannered morons is more like it in most cases.
“Siddown and shaddup so we can take off and get this over with, dummies. Put your seatbelts on and we’ll toss you some peanuts.”
FUCK YOU ASSHOLE, I GOT A FUKKN 100 ON MY IQ TEST DUMASS
NYC subway did this last year. The long civic nightmare of non-binaries feeling unwelcome is finally over.
“Air Canada will no longer address their passengers Ladies and Gentlemen.”
Xer human units? Can everyone just get a number now instead of a name so that we can get rid of that hateful gender stuff altogether? Hey, xer people unit 53819, how is xer today?
You say that jokingly now, Hyp, but from what I’ve seen, I’d bet that we’re no more than a generation or two away from that being a plank in the democratic party platform.
“we’re no more than a generation or two away from that being a plank in the democratic party platform”
I think you mean a campaign or two. In a generation or two, they’re either extinct, or we all live in a dystopian nightmare, or we’re all extinct from their policies.
+1… (presidential election)
If the future is anything like that influencers article HM linked below, your number will be the number of Instagram followers you have.
“Can everyone just get a number now”
Binary though, males are 1s, girls 0s ’cause physical reasons
Those terms apply to humans; AC passengers are cattle.
I could really use those first three things on a couple different topics this week. I hope this shit is real.
Good run by the Browns.
“Virgo: Knight of Cups – Arrival, approach–sometimes that of a messenger; advances, proposition, demeanor, invitation, incitement”
Damn. I just want to be left alone.
California has gotten so bad lately with their off the wall law bullshit, I wonder if the Onion is going to write an article about Californians being the most happy and free utopia since the USSR broke up.
It was a great place to grow up in the 70’s, then the slide began, now it’s headed toward third world status, at least in some areas, damn shame,
^^This^^
I wonder how long Hollywood and Silicon Valley are going to stick around there with that kind of government. I know Hollywood gets massive tax breaks, but if all the other taxpaying businesses move to other states, what happens?
Oh well. Of all the things I look for in a place to live, California doesn’t really have anything that other states don’t. Oregon and Washington have nice forests and mountains; the Carolinas and Florida have good beaches.
Oregon and Washington are moving towards California style governance
All the new laws will stop the illegals. Why would they want to come to a hellhole worse than the one they left?
Well, to be fair, since Cali long ago solved all of societies problems with their great wokeness, they have to do something, right? I mean someone has to do something. That’s what I hear.
The Onion won’t, but the Bee will.
Well. that’s true. My new bass is so pretty, I almost feel bad playing it.
I’d take either of those, but I’m less sanguine about it.
What did you get? Tell me it’s a Fender,….
Oh, yes, Yusef. And because the neck had a slight discoloration, I got about $300 knocked off the price.
Sha-wing!
Thanks. So shiny. My…precious.
Nice! I had to spend a lot of time on my Mexican J-Bass to get it 3/4 of the way to that!
Let’s all pause for a rare moment of praise..
But first…. a tale of woe….
A week ago I had to buy a new washer because the main board on my 15 year old LG went bad. Then yesterday…. the other two shoes dropped.. The dryer quit heating, and as I was working on figuring that out I noticed that it was getting really hot. Yup… the AC quit working. On a weekend, of course.
Now for the praise….
So the compressor wasn’t coming on at all, no fan, no nothing. I did the cursory “I don’t know much about this but I am a dude” thing where I opened it up, looked around and pulled on wires to see if they were loose. Yeah, that didn’t work. So I called a buddy who used to do that. He had me check at the thermostat, which gave me the clue to check the other end of the wires. A more careful tug on the yellow wire…. and it snapped off right at the wire nut! Yup, corroded right through. Easy as can be, just strip it and wire it back up. All better, no more sweating in the October heat. (yeah guys, that’s how we roll down here. Luckily it was cool yesterday… it only got up to about 83 or 84 degrees.)
Last time I called a guy out it was the fan motor…. the guy gave me a cock-and-bull story about “they don’t make those any more so it is really expensive” and quoted $800. I did it myself for $115, including a hard start kit.
So I was very happy to have this be a quick fix without calling in a pro.
Next comes the dryer. Looks like the heating element, but I gotta check it out. So I go looking for my multimeter. The wife carefully put it away in a bin under a bunch of other stuff where I never would have looked. So thanks hon! I have not used it in quite some time… maybe 5 or more years. It is 25+ years old.
And here comes the real miracle.
Really, you won’t believe this one….
It still has the original 9 volt battery. An old-school non-alkaline “heavy duty” no-name called “power plus”.
It still works.
I took the old one out and put in a new one – tested it with my newly rediscovered multimeter…. yup. Still pushing out 9.5 volts, more than a quarter century later.
Dang!
I mean, sure, you feed 5,000 people with a small basket of fish and people will tell stories for years after that one. But still, this is a pretty major event. Someone should call the Pope Or maybe the Amazing Randi. How many miracles do I have to be credited with to become a saint?
Now I just gotta get this dryer dissembled so I can test the components and get the new parts ordered before close of shipping today.
Sometimes things do break your way!
Good Man! sussing out the control voltage issue is what makes a good troubleshooter, look for visual cracks in the heating element, also the line voltage supplying it, volgate Yes? change the coil, no test required
or Voltage
Yeah, I wasted a bunch of time downloading and reading through the service manual, all because I saw some guy online talking about hitting the reset button to fix this.
Getting to the heating element isn’t rocket science, but it requires taking the entire thing apart. So if I can do this with a button push….
90 minutes later…. “oh, that’s for the gas model”.
So I ran down the diagnostic chain anyway. Last time I replaced a heating element it was just as you describe – visibly burned right through. Even Stevie Wonder coulda spotted that one.
The service manual lists 4 different parts in a fault chain to be tested. So while I have the thing apart, might as well test them all.
But I’m not doing that tongue test thingie on the dryer! ….. that thing is on the 220 and if it can boil off all the water in a basket of freshly washed towels in an hour, I ain’t going anywhere near that thing with the power on.
A real man would’ve tongue checked it. For anything less than a megawatt, man nerves are the best meters!
Amps, always amps,
BZZZZT!
Volts jolt, but mills kill
And mega-amps explode flesh.
I think that justifies a hearty self-pat on your back and a healthy bit of crowing, not to mention strutting.
You’re on a roll! Buy a lottery ticket. When you’re hot, you’re hot, metaphorically speaking.
Saving all of this money easily justifies a new gun purchase or a keggerator at minimum!
The wife is still angling for a new dryer. New element is less than $100, and i just replaced the rollers last year. So not happening. And it is a really nice LG. But it doesn’t match the new Maytag top loader we just bought. So she wants a new one to match. At least they are both white. Coulda had the almond. That would look really spiffy – one white and one almond!
I think I married your wife’s cousin or distant relative.
It is the vagina. If you have one, you make decisions that way.
Kinda like having a penis makes you stupid in the way guys are stupid. Except for “crazy” instead of “stupid”.
It is the rare defective female who doesn’t think that way. They are wonderful and special creatures, to be cherished and protected, like some rare species of Panda. They mostly hang around on libertarian comment sections and maybe go skydiving after playing a round of CoD. Some say they are just a myth. Or mabye a hoax, perpetrated by the Koch brothers.
“Some say they are just a myth. Or mabye a hoax, perpetrated by the Koch brothers.”

My wife was giving me guff about digging out the septic tank cover myself rather than paying the pumper $100+ to do that. ‘You’ll spend multiple $100 on Y, but you won’t have them do it?’ Yeah, because it’s something I can do myself and spend that $100+ on Y that I actually want and can’t do myself.
I thought that was something that was expected to be done before they arrived. It is with my guy, anyway.
Not really expected. The companies around here will charge for it if it’s more than a couple inches to uncover. And even if they do, they’ll. bitch about the digging (that I’m paying them for) and try to sell installing a riser tube (for their convenience).
Good save. ; )

Oh, my…. that is perfect.
Also, a great example of what is missing in humor today. They skewer women and men at the same time in that bit.
The only people capable of doing that these days are South Park, The Babylon Bee and Chapelle. Nobody who leans left is even capable of understanding what that means.
LG appliances do rock.
They’ve come a long way.
Also, get the optional pedestal drawer thingies upon which to place the washer/dryer.
Your back will thank me/
I have not had good luck with them. Fridge and Washer both quit working within 3 years.
Our LG washer/dryer set is around 10 years with only a repair or two. Big one was something with the washer motor or controller and it was covered under warranty. Can’t remember the details now.
The wife is still angling for a new dryer.
We ended up with 2 new cars that way. Wife was really “uncomfortable” with the unreliability of her car despite it being the newer and nicer of the two and merely needing a new set of vacuum lines. ? My new car was my “spite car”.

SOMEONE ON TWITTER IS UPSET ABOUT SOMETHING! Jeez, show some empathy.
She is Pamela Geller’s daughter. Thus, she is a horrible, horrible person. Because corruption of blood, or something.
Unto the seventh generation cursed CNN them.
OK, then.
Not gonna lie though – Pamela Gellar looks kinda GILFy in some pictures.
Good for her. And my wife and I refer to talking loudly during a movie, especially if you’re addressing a character, as “Bowie, Maryland”, and I’m not apologizing for that, either.
I’ve been to the movies in an “urban” setting.
It’s a statement of empirical truth.
See, and I grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and I avoid movie theaters because it annoys me to violence when people make sound during a movie, yet cannot stop myself from critiquing the choices of characters in horror or suspense films and offering them free and urgent advice as if they can hear me.
“Bro, your dumb-ass girl is gone, son. She’s dead. Her dumb ass went back in the house to get her cat or some shit. Just let that shit go. Move on, son, move on. Why would you even go back in there? Stupid people die all the time because they’re stupid.”
*movie pauses, wife taps foot*
“Sorry. But seriously, though, these people are so stupid it’s like making me viscerally angry.”
It’s the same people who stare at their phone 24/7, no matter what they’re doing, walking, driving, whatever.
“it annoys me to violence when people make sound during a movie”
Odds are, they’re on their phone.

Sorry to have missed you all!
I missed that too, and I was up until 2AM, playing a video game…
Your absence was noted and the proper “authorities” were notified.

Yeah, that sounds like a winner.
Geeze Luiz. I hope That Ref has police protection, cause i think he might get killed by Cleveland.
It’s Chiefs v Refs yet again.
Browns just had a couple of shite calls against them as well.
It’s time for the Squaws to lose, cause they suck.
They lost last week…
PI not called. Then a hold on the first down completion for the Texans not called.
That said, the Chiefs are killing themselves with penalties again.
And missed tackles…
They play worse every successive game. The last 2 they won were basically luck and now it’s catching up to them.
Last week or today? Last week was bad. Today the refs are doubling down.
Just now. PI on Kelce not called. Then, on the next sequence, there was a pretty clear hold on a pass rush not called.
NFL officiating sucks major fucking balls. See the roughing the passer call against the Raiders on the Bear’s QB last week, total bullshit call, but not only did it get a 15 yard penalty, WTF, are you not allowed to tackle the QB now?, but it negated a change of possession because the ball was intercepted and it was already in the air ‘before’ the hit on the QB. Effectively, Raiders beat the Bears AND the officiating crew. The NFL have now decided they have to determine the outcome of games, because reasons.
I’ve been hearing this my entire life.
Hell, it’s a plot point in a fun series by Pier Anthony. The protagonist has to win a football game and he gambles that the computer ref will blow at least one call.
Damn, I thought they won that game. I’m a Raiders fan, BTW, we haven’t had many occasions to be happy about foozball in the last 20 years, so maybe you get it.
U.S. forces say Turkey was deliberately ‘bracketing’ American troops with artillery fire in Syria
Turkey’s the alpha, the US is the beta, bro. Getting cucked like whoa.
What’s the point of doing that? We’re pulling out, so take a few potshots as we leave, hoping we don’t decide to defend ourselves?
Honestly it is a bit of a Alpha/Beta Move. Most forces have no need to bracket a force anymore, as they can get first round effects with artillery.
Yes. It would not be the first time some Turks decided to hassle the US military.

It’s also worth mentioning that the CIA (allegedly) helped the Turks capture Abdullah Ocalan, the head honcho of the PKK.

That’s an area weapon,” the officer said, noting its explosive effects. “That’s not something we ever would have done to a partner force.”
Yeah, usually we use air power for our blue on blue incidents.
The Brits are not a fan of the A-10 for that reason.

On 12 December 2011, U.S. administration asked Iran to return the captured U.S. drone.[27] The day before, on 11 December, General Salami stated that “no nation welcomes other countries’ spy drones in its territory, and no one sends back the spying equipment and its information back to the country of origin.”
…
On 17 January 2012, an Iranian company said it would send miniature, pink, toy versions of the captured drone to President Obama as a response to the request for sending the drone back.

Fuck Iran in the ass, mouth, and eye- but damn that is funny.
Good afternoon all.
This derp is rich and robust, with notes of oak , cherry, and currant:
Vox- Understanding how Hillary Clinton would govern

I get a derp rich in the lack of accountability and media syncopathy with strong notes of a August Baghdad Portalet that has missed two pump outs.
Here is some metal music slightly different than what you are used to.
Oh Shit,
/HAHA!!!!

“They’ve known about this loophole for several years and taken no action on it.”
Oh noes, a loophole around unconstitutional laws! Someone has to do something!
So, to any saw the stuff about me finding adoption paper work for my sister; an update. I had decided it wasn’t my place, but after all of the emotions I had all week I decided to stop and visit said sister today. She ended up bringing it up, she just found out herself 2 weeks ago when her daughter did Ancestry DNA. So it is true, she knows, she’s talked to our mom about it. Not mine to worry about anymore.
Wow, what a relief! I’m glad it’s settled, but is it settled within you?
Yeah, I’m good with it, she seems to be dealing with it well. Me finding out at about the same time, as well as how cliche the truth is (her bio dad was a drummer in a band one night stand, ugh) makes it feel like the plot of a bad movie though.
That must have been a relief.
That’s a relief.

Hoping to “rehabilitate” Indians from their, as he saw it, strange and sometimes wicked ways, General James A. Carleton of the United States Army recommended in a letter to a colleague what should be done with them: “Gather them together little by little onto a Reservation (and) teach their children how to read and write: teach them the art of peace; teach them the truths of Christianity… Little by little they will become a happy and contented people.”
Many Native Americans, however, saw things a bit differently. In June 1744, in an offer not unlike General Carleton’s, the College William & Mary in Virginia invited the Indians of the Six Nations to send twelve young men to their college to be “properly” educated. Soon after, William & Mary received the following reply:
Sirs,
We know that you highly esteem the kind of learning taught in Colleges, and that the Maintenance of our young Men, while with you, would be very expensive to you. We are convinc’d, therefore, that you mean to do us Good by your Proposal; and we thank you heartily. But you, who are wise, must know that different Nations have different Conceptions of things; and you will therefore not take it amiss, if our Ideas of this kind of Education happen not to be the same with yours. We have had some Experience of it. Several of our Young People were formerly brought up at the College of the Northern Provinces; they were instructed in all your Sciences; but, when they came back to us, they were bad Runners, ignorant of every means of living in the Woods, unable to bear either Cold or Hunger; knew neither how to build a Cabin or take a Deer; or kill an Enemy, spoke our Language imperfectly, were therefore neither fit for Hunters, Warriors, nor Counsellors; they were totally good for nothing. We are, however, not the less oblig’d by your kind Offer; tho’ we decline accepting it; and, to show our grateful Sense of it, if the Gentlemen of Virginia will send us a Dozen of their Sons, we will take care of their Education, instruct them in all we know, and make Men of them.”

Sick burn! but we still win,
Western Civ !!!!!!!
The original bible clinging deplorables they were, white supremacists the lot of them. Now I understand why we had to lock them up on reservations.
LOL
Endeavor to persevere.
Some Sunday afternoon music.
“This song still sounds less stalker-ish than the original.”
I love listening to Romo talk football.
He is the best.
The NFL had to tell him to quit being so precise in his real-time predictions and identification of vulnerabilities because assistant coaches were listening and changing their games!!
I can believe it.

Fun! I think I caught a glimpse of Sammy Terry – local late night horror movie host in Indy, I think? – at the 18 second mark.
One of Dr Demento’s annual presentations.
Fun movie trivia: the guy who played Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street was also the professor in the sci-fi movie Them!

His name was Edmund Gwenn.
Now I want a movie where Santa fights giant ants.
I was listening to X Minus One in SXM RadioClassics the other day and one of the voices sounded familiar. It was Jackson Beck, who would later go on to be the narrator on GI Joe.
The guy who did the voice of Cobra Commander also did the voice of Starscream. So many 80s cartoons followed the formula of good guys vs bad guys:
Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, GI Joe, Dinoriders….
Maybe it was all a metaphor for the Cold War?
I can hear it in my head now!
Found it on YouTube!

Yay! The Dino Riders cartoon is on YouTube!
Nostalgia overload!

Pretty sure that’s Jackson Beck doing the commercial at 15:27.
I have all the eps on a HDD,
forcedlet my niece watch them when she was little. I’m that kinda uncle.I actually titled my blog post on “Them!” Santa Claus Conquers the Giant Ants.
Gwenn also played a hired assassin in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Foreign Correspondent”.
“Santa Claus Conquers the Giant Ants”
This title has my seal and walrus of approval.
He was excellent in The Trouble With Harry
Well, all I got to add is that the Chicago Bears will definitely not lose today.
I was in a bar full of Redskins fans for the last three minutes of the game. The fumble on the last attempt for the 2 point conversion saw the unclenching of three couple dozen assholes. It was like the entire place dropped an inch in relaxation.
Gawd I hate offensive pass interference. And the refs suck this year.
You should have to engage with the arms to have it called. Just getting in the way shouldn’t be enough.
Especially when you’re engaged by another defensive player first.
And the Chiefs, too.
Fuuuccckkkk…
