Today I am loving the fact that Total Wine has same day delivery to Chez OMWC/SP. What a great time to be alive.
We’re also getting out of jail having respite care tomorrow so we can accept an invitation from another of TPTB to dinner with the fam. A couple hours of freedom. Hooray!
Now I just need my Packers to win on Sunday night and it will be a completely good weekend.
Anyway, go ahead and enjoy this Friday Night Open Post. I’ll be right over here mixing up a batch of Dbl Eagle’s Aged Eggnog. Cheers!
Howdy SP!
Hey, Yusef!
Hi to your bride, too!
Hello,
/Wendy
Yusef has a face again?
I went ahead and changed it, and found out my 1Tb backup drive is dead, not, good
Hey Yusef, can you post your PayPal link again? I lost track of where you posted it last night.
Nvm, found it.
If you haven’t already, vote for your winner of the debate.
I didn’t even watch, and I know exactly who the loser was…
I mean the Glibs debate 🙂 .
Yeah…. didn’t attend that either.
Had the honest-to-god flu. Couldn’t lift my head off the pillow for 3 days. Didn’t even get the benefit of binge watching anything – couldn’t focus long enough to watch TV. Slept most of the week.
And I still know who the loser in the debate is. If it is the DNC, the loser is the American People. And if it is Glibs, the loser is Tulpa.
I vote for girl #2
Let me know how respite care goes. I’m headed that direction.
My MIL has long term care insurance, so we’ve been able to have an aide most afternoons for a tiny amount over the benefit amount. It means I’ve finally been able to work and study again…albeit with some interruptions, but nothing like before where I got no more than 10 minutes alone at a time.
The same agency is sending someone tomorrow evening. They were concerned that it would be someone new. I replied, “It’s someone new EVERY DAY, even when it’s the same person. No worries. Just send SOMEONE, please.”
A former coworker of mine relayed his wife’s comment on her mother with Alzheimer’s. “Mom’s gone, but the lady inhabiting her body is nice.”
Awww.
A programmer friend of ours had been taking care of his Mom at home for several years. When he needed to travel for work (he usually worked from home), he would have her go to the local memory care place for a couple days. In a couple instances it was up to a week.
OMWC mentions that you might want to look into this so you can come visit. 😉
I am so thankful I have not had to go through this. My father is 85 and getting quite frail physically, but his mind is still sharp. You have my deep sympathy.
Same, only my mom’s 75. She doesn’t want to decline mentally, but she also doesn’t want to have a sharp mind and a body that won’t do anything without a lot of pain.
My Dad was sharp until he passed. My mom.is still sharp. I am grateful.
My mother is 90. Her body is starting to fail, but she’s still pretty sharp.
I’m not close to that point yet. I’m at the point where she’s pretty impaired, and argues with me when I have to step in because she’s pretty impaired.
My MIL is 80 and in hospice now. She went from forgetting where she’d left her keys (2 years ago) to a 1 minute short term memory window (18 months ago) to full time care (1 year ago). She was resisting being in full time care for about 3 months but then seemed to have forgotten it had ever been different.
Now she’s mostly half asleep – wakes up when we visit. She talks a little but usually makes no sense. She usually can’t remember people or names – but on my last visit I asked her who I was and she replied “You’re Tejicano of course!”. For a brief flash she was lucid and ‘found’ her memory but then slipped away again.
We are glad that she is in no pain. She doesn’t eat – they have her on an IV for her nutrients. Cancer has come back and seems to be progressing but no pain yet. We don’t know how long this will last. Euthanasia is not an option in Japan – at least not at this stage.
That sucks, dude. You have my sympathies.
Thanks Spud. I appreciate it.
I had to watch my dad slowly slip away to Parkinson’s and now dealing with my MIL. I sympathize with anybody who has to watch a parent go this way. We have to lose them someday but watching them go away mentally first is particularly difficult.
8 years for my Grandma. The best person in my world had no fucking idea who I was for the last few.
All of you dealing with it have my prayers.
Yo!
I just got an email that announced that Aldi will deliver alcohol through Instacart. Woo hoo!
I had looked at Drizly but hadn’t used them yet. Total Wine’s prices were better, and they have our fave Romanian wine for $5.39/bottle.
My usual grocery delivery service, Shipt.com, only delivers alcohol from Smart & Final here, but we are just outside the delivery zone for them. Safeway truck service will bring alcohol, but very limited wine selection.
(If anyone would like a referral code for Shipt that saves you $50 on an annual delivery subscription, hit me up at sp@ this website.)
I’ve used Drizly quite a few times. Haven’t had any problems with them. It’s expensive, but if you don’t want to go out and want your alcohol stuff delivered right to your door in an hour or less, they’re great.
Noted! Thanks!
Bevmo has delivery, I don’t know if the wine is good there but, Delivery!
Might be interesting also just to check their site to see what stores are participating in your area. I may have just been lucky, but the one store that does Drizly delivery in my area is one that has one of the best selections of wine and liquor in Baltimore. I’ve never even been in there, but they typically have a much better selection than any of my local stores and they’re typically here in less than 30 minutes.
Indeed. I will do this tonight.
Alcohol options are good.
OMWC is idly wondering which store this might be? Is it the one where the reprehensible Robert Parker buys his wine?
Is OMWC considering doctoring a bottle?
Wine Underground.
Wine Underground
I don’t buy that often any more, but it is my impression that Total Wine is the best on prices.
But Aldi’s can’t be beat on price though. They have fake Cocoa Crispies for just over a buck and a half – and you wouldn’t turn around for the difference.
So how do they compare? Does Aldi’s even have anything worth having? We just got a new, bigger Aldi’s and I noticed they have a wine section. I’m more likely to want to pick up a bottle of Bailey’s for the holidays, but that still raises the same question…. who has the best prices?
Total will match prices. I was all happy because we have one called Mission Liquors and they are 20% lower than total. Mission is a pain to drive to. I grabbed a bottle of 18 y/o Glenfiddich at Total and pulled up the ad from Mission. They said that they won’t match Mission, they’re just too low. Anywhere else is fine. I skipped it and waited until I could drive to Mission and save 25 bucks.
Wow. We gotta get us one of them “Mission Liquors” around here.
One of the reasons I don’t buy so often is the wife likes wine, and I’m not a big fan. And I like straight Whisky (all varietals) and Rum…. but only the really good stuff.
There’s a Total Wine near work and a colleague and I go about once a month to stock up. There’s an ABC (Virginia state run liquor store) near it as well. It’s fun to go with a friend. Shh, but we have done tastings.
This sounds desperately like a thicket of double-entendres, but I’m to thick to decode it.
I just arrived from Germany this afternoon. I’m on 23 hours of no sleep, so I’m drinking my self out of jet lag. How is everyone?
Drinking but not jet lagged. Welcome home.
Thanks! Just in time to watch Ohio state play their first test team tomorrow.
I didn’t look hard, but I’m finding Ohio State trading around -18.5
regression says -17; bettors are fairly reasonable
it’s going to be a lovely tilt
Drinking but not jet lagged.
Welcome home.
(Spud copied my comment ahead of the fact!)
I received some real shnapps while I was there.
Completely different drink, isn’t it?
Drinking, no jet lag.
My sister is on her way to Germany so we have her dog for the weekend, who is currently wrestling non-stop with my dog. I’m recuperating from LASIK by laying on the couch rewatching old football games.
When I had LASIK, they gave me two pills. The first one was to knock me out for 12 hours. When I woke up, I was supposed to pee, drink 16 0z of water, then take the second pill, which would also knock me out for 12 hours.
I woke up the most refreshed I have ever been.
I took a nap, which helped, but they didn’t give me any knock-out pills, just antibiotic eye drops. My eyes feel dry, but otherwise fine.
This was back in the before-time, when they sliced a flap on your cornea and lived it up to laser zap the tissue underneath. It needed time to re-seal, so they taped polycarbonate guards around your eyesockets to prevent you from touching your eye, and rendered you unconscious so as to not go crazy.
Why yes, they did use knapped flint scalpels, how did you know?
Yikes, I could not have done that.
Had that done….. we got caught in a terrible traffic jam leaving the office and on the way to the pharmacy to get the pills. They needed to be taken within the hour. 4 hours later……
Yeah. That was an impressive level of discomfort. Felt pretty much exactly like you would have expected having the surface of both of your eyes scraped off would feel.
Drinking but not jet lagged.
Howdy! catch a buzz and take a long nap, wake up, eat, catch a buzz, repeat
Part one underway.
Wonderful!
Fuck off, Tulpa!
That was just in case Tulpa shows up later.
Why thank you!
Damn you, you do not exist! Fuck off Pie Clone!
Today I am loving the fact that Total Wine has same day delivery to Chez OMWC/SP. What a great time to be alive.-
I ordered a chair from Office Depot and had it the next day. I was pleasantly surprised.
This destructive unbridled capitalism has got to stop! We need a green new deal and equality for all! Forward, comrades!
Marijuana Delivery is the one that blows my mind, 21st Century FTW!
I mean, just think how much easier. How many weeds can you put on that drone in place of a 12oz bottle of beer?
That might have been the best thing about living in CA. I got to know one of the drivers and then I would call my order in and ask for him by name. They would laugh on the phone. I tipped pretty good (because I could) and after a while they were like: “Yeah, Jose will be out there, Man. He’s got you covered.” It was awesome – my herb delivery was faster and better than Domino’s. The guy would even meet me at other locations, so I could order weed “on the go.”
I see your delivery good news and raise you mine. Fedex fucked over my fruit shipment. Supposed to be here today but due to “weather”, they won’t deliver until Monday.
Should be a good Sunday night game. The Niners are -3 still. I think I’m putting down some money on them to take it. Should be good revenge for all those beatings by Favre.
Favre was drafted by ATL, of course.
The other day there was great attention paid to the importance of drafting, particularly QB. I didn’t get it posted in time, but at least a fourth of Super Bowls were won by QB who weren’t drafted by winners at all (from Dawson @KC to Manning@DEN). Drafting well is a nice idea, but the “goal” if finding a QB . . . one way or another.
It is funny how they talk about drafting great QB’s, but most of the greats were later round picks. People keep saying this means that the Patriots were genius to pick up Brady so late. I say, if they had known what he would become, they would have blown a higher pick to ensure that he was still around.
So all these greats being late picks (or at a minimum having other QB’s taken first) means that it is absolutely pot luck. Sometimes an sure thing hits (Andrew Luck), most of the time it doesn’t (everyone else).
When Brady was drafted in the 7th round, he told Bilichick, “you just made the best decision of your life”.
Yeah, but so did Todd Leinman when he was taken in the second round. And so did every other bust to come along.
So it isn’t like that means Brady knew something either.
Heck, even the guy who didn’t get drafted and couldn’t get an invite to a training camp thinks he’s the next Tom Brady. They all do.
I even had one dude regaling me with the tale of how he was recruited by Notre Dame as a running back out of high school… probably could have gone pro too! But he got injured and never made it to college. Now, I dunno.. maybe there was a scout at a game or something. But I used to routinely whip him on the basketball court. And I maintain that if you are a black dude who was going to play running back for Notre Dame and go to the NFL, there is zero chance that my scrawny white ass is beating you at anything athletic, particularly not on the basketball court.
(the same would have applied to Christian McCaffrey, but it isn’t as funny if you remove the dated race references)
Is he Ed McCaffrey’s son?
“most of the greats were later round picks”
I don’t think that’s really true of quarterbacks. The only two that come to mind are Brady and Montana, and Montana was drafted in the third round. After doing some quick research, Johnny Unitas was a ninth round pick. Favre was a second round pick, Marino, Peyton and Eli Manning, Troy Aikman, and Terry Bradshaw were all first round picks. Steve Young was a first round pick twice (once for the USFL and once in an NFL supplemental draft.) Roger Staubach was a late pick due to his military obligations.
Check this stack, from among “super bowl winning QBs”
Russel Wilson, 3rd round.
Drew Brees, 2nd round
Kurt Warner. Undrafted. Bagging groceries.
Mark Rypien took a 6th round pick to a SuperBowl MVP.
Theisman – 4th round
Stabler – 2nd round
Bart Starr – 17th round
A couple of notables from last week’s starters:
Lamar Jackson was the 32nd pick. 31 teams took a pass.
Dak Prescott was 135.
Not all “all time greats”, but still… if GM’s and Coaches had a clue, none of those guys would be sitting around to be taken even after half a round.
Jameis Winston and Jarred Goff were taken at number 1 though.
I’ll give you Starr and Warner, and concede that it’s hard to judge Theismann because his career was cut short. However, there are many Super Bowl winning QBs who I would not call great, and Mark Rypien is one of them. Jim McMahon, Jeff Hostetler, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco, and Nick Foles are all Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are/were great. They were at least adequate, and you could say they were good for at least one year. Lamar Jackson was a first round pick. Patrick Mahomes is a first round pick. And I’m not counting the second round as a later round.
Also, it’s not fair to say a team took a pass on a player when they felt they had that position filled. For example, Indianapolis had no reason to draft Lamar Jackson because they still had a healthy Andrew Luck.
Unitas was a 9th round pick for Pittsburgh. They cut him and kept Ted Marchibroda.
He was playing sandlot when the Colts called him to try out.
Indeed. The Niners actually passed up Brady. He really wanted to play for them as he is from here as well.
Jerry Rice fumbled.
Man, the Rangers are playing like complete dogshit, making a mediocre team look like the ’76 Canadiens.
Talk about hot and cold. Just no consistency whatsoever.
Devils suck too, which helps 🙂
I’m spending this week with my grand daughter who is a beginner libertarian. I picked up a banana at breakfast, from Guatemala. I explained about the wonderful time to live, these days, thanks to capitalism .
Some guy in Guatemala that I don’t know picked bananas, got them to a shipper that got them to an outpost in Northern MN and let us have them for an affordable price to have with our oatmeal, which of course was provided by some farmer… any way you get the picture. The invisible hand is alive and well, if we can keep politicians/bureaucrats from meddling.
I can’t picture what health care will look like when politicians make it “affordable”. It seems so easy to understand when its food or gasoline but impossible to comprehend when its housing/health care.
“I’m spending this week with my grand daughter who is a beginner libertarian. I picked up a banana at breakfast, from Guatemala. I explained about the wonderful time to live, these days, thanks to capitalism .”
Congratulations, sir, keep up the good work!
*looks at healthcare bills*
You telling me they didn’t already make it affordable?
Yeah, they made it so affordable I can’t afford it. Please… don’t make it any more affordable.
The fresh fruit thing is a marvel.
I’ve been proselytizing about that for some time now. It wasn’t that long ago that you could only get fruits and vegetables “in season”. Certain things would move down the country with the weather, so you could get an extended lettuce season, or an extended strawberry season by shipping them from north to south and vice/verse. But mostly you could only get grapes when grapes were ripe.
Now, you can get grapes any time you please. We ship them in from all over the globe. And bizarrely, they are only a couple of bucks a pound. You’d think that shipping something perishable 9,000 miles away would cost a lot more than that.
And It is surprising how quickly agricultural science is making progress. In the 70’s, strawberries were very small, and turned grey and fuzzy after a day or so. They were delicious though. Then through the 80’s and 90’s they got bigger and more resistant to mold. But they tasted watery. Now, they’ve started to have more flavor. And we are growing them from pole to pole, so we can have fresh berries every day of the year.
I was just telling a group of elementary school kids that same story – and how just 50 years ago the richest king on earth could not have fresh grapes and blueberries every day like all of us can today. Hell, 100 years ago isn’t that long ago – we already had a few cars – but the most powerful king on earth didn’t have access to the food that a mailman in Brooklyn takes for granted.
It is truly miraculous. I tried a CSA, but I don’t like not being able to pick every week. We don’t have to eat piles or beets because that’s what is ripe. I don’t understand those that complain about this.
“I don’t understand those that complain about this.”
We can complain about anything, thank you very much.
See, because I have a phobia about not wasting food, I’ll cook what shows up in the bag even if I don’t know what it is, if I like it, or how to cook it. It’s been very educational.
I’ve also discovered that any vegetable can be pureed and put into a soup with enough meant and spices.
The Irish know all too well.
I admire the ones actually creative enough to just cook whatever arrives at their doorstep based on the season, but I have to plan that stuff. I write a menu, write a shopping list, and then do it. I love the sheer variety and selection you can get even in winter. So, yeah, yay global trade!
I started thinking about what government bananas, with a built in short shelf life, would look like if the government provided them.
They’d be grown in east Atlanta
Remy, FTW!
Great line from that:
“Free trade’s like a magic wand, turn what you’re good at into what you want.”
No one’s willing to pay enough for what I’m good at.
So I’m stuck doing what I’m not shite at.
I had the same marvel today – at how cheap some produce I bought was. 79 cents for a pound of carrots? 59 cents for an onion?? Celery under a buck too.
I used to work the checkstand 30 years ago and the prices were the same – if not more.
Buh?
Groceries are vastly more expensive in absolute dollars now then they were 30 years ago. I’d buy sirloins at $0.99 /lb and cut them into steaks myself. The idea of paying A DOLLAR for a pound of beans still makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off.
I’m going to guess you weren’t in New York thirty years ago.
Yes, you’re getting ripped off, but that’s no different than it used to be.
True.
At the time, I might have known some of those sirloins by name.
I can’t speak to the price of groceries 30 years ago, but if they are more expensive today, it’s probably due to increased regulations, or distortions like ethanol subsidies making feed more expensive, which makes beef and dairy more expensive, and so on.
I’m just talking about produce here.
And keep in mind a dollar in 1990 is now $1.97.
That reminds me, does anyone know the actual trade name for the potatos that are purple all the way through? I’ve seen “Purple Potatos” which were externally purple, white inside and related to the sweet potatos. I’m trying to find the variety that is related to regular potatos but purple through and through.
Here you go, lots of varieties of purple
https://www.specialtyproduce.com/produce/Purple_Potatoes_641.php
Thank you. That’s them. I want to see how much of the color sticks around when turned to mash. I’m thinking of making a shepherd’s pie for thanksgiving.
I get them at the local farms. They have a little white kind of marbled in so they’ve turned light purple when I’ve mashed them. Have used for Sheperds pie, didn’t notice a different taste. Roasted some last night that were great.
Don’t know the name, but I often get them in bags of baby potatoes. Perfect for me as I can actually cook a single portion.
Today I am loving the fact that Total Wine has same day delivery to Chez OMWC/SP.
Unfortunately the Girl Scouts now do an online candy sale so not all OMWC’s vices are delivered to his door.
Brooksed it.
It wasn’t a a reply to a thread. No one else was rude enough to start a thread about little girls and the Old Man.
I see the problem now. Multiple people are quoting the main post without any sign of attribution…
The Total Wine store here is the size of a Walmart. I don’t go in there much, too far away and there’s pretty much no way to get there without getting on the beltway, which is the Balmer version of Russian Roulette.
Frustrating week. I work with a lot of user generated content, and one of our users posted an article about a petition they were gathering signatures for, and it was doing quite well in referral traffic, etc. And then it went poof, and started returning a 404 and the user’s account was suspended. My company had an upset user with a decent social media following on our hands, rightly claiming censorship. So I pulled up the google cache of the article, confirmed there was nothing in it that violated our terms, and took it to the chief. They agreed with me, had me restore the content and the account, and were nice enough to email the user and apologize. And the user was very gracious about it and called off the mob.
And THEN I find out the reason the article went poof in the first place is because one of the employees with moderation power has a friend that works for a state senator that happens to be supporting the bill this poster was petitioning against. They sent their buddy an email asking for the article to be deleted because it was gaining popularity, and this person – a former journalist, mind you – happily did, thinking that was totally okay.
I’m still grinding my teeth that someone who presumably went to j-school thought that was fine.
And so this person got fired?!?!?
(I’m begging you, please make my day and say yes.)
If I’d had hire/fire authority, they would have been. Instead we ended up bringing in someone with better judgement to keep an eye on moderation activity.
Which only points out the fact that politicos know who to target.
And they are easy marks. Everyone wants to be important, after all.
So many random flunkies throughout so many companies with way more access and control than they really ought to have.
Out of a cannon? Into North Korea?
Wait, do I know you from elsewhere?
Are you local to Northern Virginia?
I am and want more irl libertarian friends
We should have a meet up at KKs shooting range (totally not suggesting that because it’s 5 minutes from my house and I need an excuse to go shooting next week)
You Magnificent Bastard!
/bows deeply
? Stay safe, brother.
I’m game.
Not a good thing to tell a hunter.
What’s the bag limit on Tulips?
Zero.
I’m in Fauquier County.
What day works for everybody?
The range in question is Elite in manassas.
Don’t worry, SP, I got it for you. Don’t want for you to have to pull out any cat butts if not necessary, someone’s gotta run Tulpa patrol duty…
Fuck off, Tulpa!
Damn your typing skills!
I’m like the Doc Holiday of Fuck Off Tulpa.
Well, let’s do it, Lunger
Not ’til I’m done with this beer.
LemonGrenade has been here before. She (yes, another unicorn) rolls around every once in a while.
Yeah, like we’re going to take the word of THE WORST for it.
I would never listen to THE WURST Tulpa.
We aren’t sure YOUR a MLW, so why believe you?
/jk
“I’m still grinding my teeth that someone who presumably went to j-school thought that was fine.”
Based on their background and recent events, wouldn’t you assume they’d be more likely too do this?
Also, they may have assumed they’d get away with it, rather than thinking it’s okay.
I’m not sure I’d give them that many IQ points.
I actually have to go with Mojeaux, since they actually offered the email up as justification for why they’d done it. “But the guy works for a state senator!” But Lackadaisical is right as well: I clearly expected too much. At least the folks higher up were smart enough to reverse the decision.
Why would you think that j-school still teaches journalism?
Lol, okay.
I had assumed you had access to their email and just found it. That’s special.
I know, right? I try really hard to be patient since I’m a lot older than these guys, so I told them, “A more appropriate response would have been to invite them to post an article explaining why their bill should pass.” It’s a good thing I work from home, though, because that’s not what I was shouting at the computer.
Back in the day, I worked for a guy that was a huge supporter of the republican party. As in raised so much money he was invited to GWB’s inaugurations. Some guy (a republican) was really going off about how important he was and trying to block my boss from building townhouses. My boss let him make an asshole of himself for a while, then made a few phone calls. I generally don’t like that kind of thing, but in this case, I cheered. The asshole was intent on screwing over an elderly couple where the woman had cancer. The cancer was what spurred my former boss to act. Otherwise, he would have let it all play out.
I left that job to go to grad school. I did some work for him over Xmas break my first year. After I passed my qualifiers, he sent me a card. It said he wasn’t surprised I had done well but to always remember that I could come home and if I changed my mind he would find a job for me. It was one of the nicest cards I’d ever gotten. (There’s more to the story, but that’s for another time).
oh Cool! Fuck Off Tulpa!
I think they teach silencing dissent in J school now. In fact I think it is a core course.
Since I got a lecture about how some topics just shouldn’t be allowed on the site, since they were dangerous conspiracy theories, I think you’re right.
“Epstein wasn’t murdered” isn’t dangerous!
How do they feel about prayers to St. Augusto de la Puma?
wtf is up with this positivity? This is a supposedly a LIBERTARIAN blog.
BE MISERABLE!
Hey everyone Crusty needs a hug.
NO TOUCHING!
Ok, that does it everyone puppy pile CJ.
I ain’t touching him. Word around town is that he has cooties.
His cooties have cooties.
Don’t Tell Me What To Do!
We are trying to get work from a new client who clearly doesn’t get what we are. She actually asked us how much to update a table (we consider this an insult) . I finally said “we have a ceiling*, so we want work that is important and that we can have an impact”. This is clearly an area that is important, but we don’t just update tables. When I started talking, my colleague just about had a stroke, but quickly calmed down. We were scheduled for an hour and ended up talking with her for almost two hours, so I think it went well. My colleague is also calling someone in her office to try to get him to explain we aren’t Booz Allen. Don’t ask us to update tables.
*We have a congressionally set ceiling. This lets us pick and choose work. The table is from a prior study. She also wants a model from a different prior study. None of us came up with a tasteful way to say we don’t trust you to use it appropriately, so, no we won’t give it to you. We just kept saying we weren’t comfortable giving it to her because it was done for a different purpose, had little data behind it etc.
We are sitting in a motel 6 in Hesperia California, warm, smoking cigarettes inside a room, and yes I have a few Tall Cans,
there will be a Thanksgiving at Chez Yusef, and I have gas money, Thanks to all you generous knuckleheads,
I am humbled…..
“We are sitting in a motel 6 in Hesperia California”
Have you ever been to the Salton Sea? Because I have, in the Heyday. I was just telling my wife about that earlier, when we were having one of our ‘when we were kids’ conversations. I think she’s just now realizing hat was an actual thing.
Really? Slab City articles? ‘member? cause I ‘member
OTOH Hesperia is in the Mojave Desert, Salton is in the Sonoran desert, about 120 miles SE from here, the Salton is an amazing place to check out, even now
People live there!
well, something lives there,
Glad you’re safe.
thanks, some things are in the works, good things….
Good to hear, Ol’ Bud. Enjoy your T’giving, however it is.
I plan on living longer than you Good Sir, and you are an inspiration to me…

Superb.
Wait a second. You found a smoking motel room? I didn’t think those existed in California still.
Glad you are set for a good Thanksgiving, the best holiday of the year, hands down.
I just assume he paid the room up front in cash and will skipp out on the smoking fee.
No, we go here just for that, and free doggy stays, it’s clean, cheap, they know us, and it’s only 28 miles from Ontario/our base
and Smoking!
How is it not banned in California?
dunno,3rd floor, cheap? Truckers?
Hi SP!
I’m happy for you guys. Enjoy!
Please tell the Old Man I’ve been jamming to Wishbone Ash.
It’s always a fun diversion.
‘Ghost guns’ are untraceable, easy to make, more prevalent
Oh my God.
Go on…
How, exactly, did that gun being untraceable affect anything in any way whatsoever? Other than it’s now a prime drop piece for some LAPD officer?
This is all bullshit. These are completely legal and you have to have a pretty high degree of skill to finish one. The ARs are easier because they are popular and common, a 1911 is way more difficult and not even close to cheap. Very legal, even in crappy states. I think Imma buy an 80 % 1911 while I still can. I have a milling machine, so I can prolly finish it pretty easy. It’s still gonna cost around 500-600 bucks, and I’m not skilled enough to make it a high end version. Maybe after I have done a few and fired a huge amount of research rounds through it…
“I have a milling machine”
TERRORIST!!!!!!!!
Right? I can make a whole gun from scratch, excepting the rifling.
I hear that’s easy, just pull a button through it or something.
I hear the trick is to make sure you keep your hammer cold.
I prefer to use a warming liquid tbqh
Then you need to go here.
“…excepting the rifling.”

Salt water, a battery, and a 3D printed barrel plug
Last time this was making the media rounds someone (PSA?) started putting blocks of aluminum ad steel on their website and listing them as “0% lowers”
First thing I thought of when I read this.
I bought an 80% AR lower from a place in Cali. Two weeks later they got raided by ATF.
Pretty sure I’m on a list (or two).
So I did a live online CLE today on 2nd Amendment law since Heller, and multiple people complained in the comments that it was unbalanced and inappropriate because it was pro gun rights. Given the liberal twaddle I listen to in 95% of the CLE I take, that really annoyed me so I finally posted “Oh heavens, you had to listen to a perspective you don’t agree with, now you know how those of us to the right of center feel most of the time.” It was heartening that several people chimed in to express agreement, but the absolute entitlement of the leftists is really amazing.
I took the CLE I did not teach it, I just realized what I posted was unclear.
Lawyer uses confusing language?
gfto!
I was just trying to figure out how he took all of Cleveland without me noticing…
And the content was probably still left of where the law is supposed to be.
Not this time. The instructor is counsel for one of the 2A advocacy groups. It was heavy on the “and in another plainly incorrect decision the 9th Circuit…” and “In his dissent from a refusal to grant cert Scalia or Ailto said …”
Did they also point out how the NFA is patently unconstitional?
There’s only one correct decision on the 2A. Shall not be infringed, or fuck off.
It’s hard to be to the right of “shall not be infringed”. I guess there is Kennesaw, GA, which requires every head of household to maintain a gun (not actually enforced).
There is no right except ‘shall not be infringed’.
Sorry, that was a typo, should have been “to the right of”
I was trying to make a point along the lines of that Coolidge quote about how propositions like inalienable rights are final and no progress can be made beyond them, so all gun control laws are, as UCS said “left of where the law is supposed to be”, and there isn’t really an opposite direction. It sounded better in my head.
It was fine and clearly stated. Hyperion likes to eat paint chips.
Why the hell do they need comments on the CLE?
Millennials are lawyers now.
It’s all about the likes.

Lol, 90% of them are paranoid lawyers posting “I’m here” to have proof of attendance. But for some jurisdictions (Ohio is one) a certain number of your hours have to be live , which I believe includes the ability to ask questions.
Same here in VA. 4 hours live, but we have a PLI subscription, and we go as a team to an annual conference, so it’s our own fault if we don’t hit our numbers.
I’m confused about what Cleveland has to do with any of this.
I assume someone pooped on some lucky duck’s chest.
Steamy!
How dare you expose them to different viewpoints. And I imagine without even a trigger warning!
I see what you did.
Mini turkey and sausage meat loaves are in the oven…fire pit started out side. Beer open. Damn i love this country.
Cool! Sounds Fun!
I buy my alcohol from either an old Asian woman who is always watching silly videos on her phone, or smiling Indian men who smile and laugh at white hipsters paying $12 for a 4 pack.
Open borders 4 lyfe!
Stopped counting the number of beers I had last night. I’m guessing 12? Happy Birthday, Tejicano. If Timeloose makes it back here someday, I’m busy whatever night you guys want to go drinking. You boys sure can do some good ol’ fashioned drinkin’.
When is the drawing challenge going live?
I dunno. I submitted a short version of it. Maybe SP wants a more fleshed out version. Hopefully, we’ll have it out soon.
Wait. When? I’ve been looking for it to show up.
Try again?
Really? I’ll send it again when I get home.
Thanks!
THEN I’ll tell you it’s inadequate. 😉
I just sent the file, but the pictures aren’t included (I don’t believe). That come through?
I doubt it’s the first time straff has been told he’s inadequate…
Really? I heard he’s big in Japan.
How did you not link this?
*disappointed*
I’ve never asked and can’t see why I would care.
The newly adjusted USSANHS (United States Socialist States National Health Services, for the children), says that 12 beers is you ration for the month. You have exceeded that, in one day, and must report now for re-edumencation. Or else. /Your friendly overlords
you mean 12 a day right? how can I function otherwise?
/BUUUURp
I didn’t drink for the first 15 years of my life, so I can use the points I saved up during that time, right?
Your jib is cut in a manner I like.
You think you’re joking, but you’re not.
Our ever practical Japanese teacher make a little detour into ざる last night.
Never heard that before. Weird given how it describes me.
I have to play some R2D2 since I’m sufficiently buzzed. I loved the part last night when me and my bud got in a fight in the bar and I got thrown through the front window. The only thing funnier than that was when my horse tripped going down a mountain and we both went head over heel all the way down.
You’re too drunk.
There’s no such thing as too drunk.
So you’re playing a star wars droid and riding horses?
Heh, RDR2.
Ummm…It’s been a really long time, but…
I didn’t even bring my work laptop home, so…..what’s your point?

I would love to be. As soon as she stops leaving medicine within reach of a toddler, watering down soap to the point that it’s useless, giving a sick kid more germs and letting him ride bikes down the stairs… then not even telling the doctor he hit his head. Sure.
“watering down soap to the point that it’s useless”
hit her
Rofl.
Oi. The worst part is in trying really hard not to be an asshole and either I suck at not being an asshole (likely) or she just wants to take offense at everything.
Also trying not to drink and this isn’t helping.
Don’t let her touch your drink!
Why?
I did ask for someone to put me out of my misery.
I already put one thing out of its misery today. Come on over and we’ll talk details ??
Rat poison in your drink – OK
Water – no way
letting him ride bikes down the stairs
OMG perfect mom! and you are complaining?
Because she waters down the Soap!
That is unacceptable. It’s already watered down.
He’s sneaky and has no fear of anything, so I can see how that would happen. It’s the not mentioning falling down a full flight of stairs part to the doctor that bugs me.
Also, the soap.
Yeah, I do that and I just give him walking directions to the ER in case he gets hurt. Is that bad?
Are you sure she still wants the toddler? I can sympathize, since kids can be hell. Give them enough snow days out of school, and they were dragging beanbags to the base of the stairs, then taking a running leap from the top to land of them… and I was letting them.
Pfff Toddlers are easy and cheap, Teens……….
not so desirable
My oldest turns 14 soon and is already 6’2″ so…. yeah, way more expensive to feed.
They’re supposed to be working by then.
Who knows.
I want to throw him out the window sometimes, but I don’t.
Sounds like a new parent.
Sounds like a
newparent. What concerned me on kid one was an “oh, well” on kid three.
The only thing worse than being kid 1 is being *surviving* kid 1.
How do you give a sick kid more germs?
Do you mean to say that the soap is so watered down it doesn’t do anything about cleaning germs off a sick kid?
she waters the soap down with typhus.
I’m not seeing the problem.
LOL
Kids are fucking petri dishes. There’s no such thing as “more germs” with my kid, that’s for sure. This is the first year he hasn’t given me three colds and a flu.
We’re all germ resistant around here (although Mr. Mojeaux is disposed toward sinus infections). I will assume this is because of all the germ precautions we never took.
Of course, we all have other issues that make up for our lack of catching viruses and bacterial infections.
Sounds like mine, oh and “it’s not my fault” when fault is irrelevant

Russian bank sends promotional code containing the phrase ‘kill Jews’
“This is really no Photoshop. We are surprised ourselves, but this situation is pure coincidence. Our code generator didn’t mean to offend anyone,” the bank wrote.
Sigh they could be completely honest here and it still doesn’t matter.
MUST OUTRAGE!
The code was in Russian but the Latin alphabet letters that comprised the code were: “CRYVKILLJEWS.”
So does this mean that a latin alphabet transcription of a cyrillic alphabet code happened to spell out words in English? Cause, if that is what it means getting worked up about this is kind of tarded.
Or, more likely to be reported, random number generators are raycisst.
Ok… I was good, cracked the first (and probably last) beer of the evening, but I decided to go big.

It’s not a pilsner, it just uses pilsner malt. It’s a Belgian strong.
Nothing much at the moment. Prepping for hosting Thanksgiving and then heading out for a weekend trip.
Well it looks great, enjoy Bro!
It is good… it used to be something I had to trade or travel for. Now it’s in the grocery store, for at least a little while longer.
Glad to hear you’ve got a roof over your head again man.
Nice choice.
Looks like distribution is limited to US east coast… Searching beer fridge for midwest substitute.
/Checks location
Nope. Full distribution here in Ohio, which is still considered Midwest. This will be a hard one to find a substitute for, as there’s a really nice cherry flavor (they also have released a barrel aged variant and a ‘naked’ variant).
Looks like Ohio is the western limit of distribution… enjoy!
I will, they have a lot of really good beers (and they’re a reason to go to Hershey, PA). One of their seasonal beers is Nugget Nectar which is amazing (if you like hops, specifically Nugget hops). But I’ve moved onto a local stout to finish off the night as I have to wait for a side dish to cool before it goes into the chest fridge/freezer for Thursday. Spin class is going to be early tomorrow.
They produced the first beer I rated at Drinkable.
Now you’re talking my language… I can pick up some Great Lakes when I visit frosty St. Cloud, MN next weekend.
If you haven’t had the Great Lakes Christmas Ale, I’d recommend it. It’s an institution here in Cleveland. Every brewery has a clone or a twist on it (and there’s a fun story about the biggest rival, 12 Dogs of Christmas). Every bar has it on tap… and I mean every bar. From dive where they’re serving it for $3-$4, a pint to craft beer bar that has it at $6 a snifter.

That’s probably one reason it ended up in Dayton’s biggest liquidation outlet store. The word printed on it, however, I wear as a badge of honor.

You’re not missing anything.
I combed through the recent team blue debate. It was a tough slog.
Spot the Not: Team Blue 2019 Atlanta debate
1. WARREN: I have the biggest anti-corruption plan since Watergate. It involves ending lobbying as we know it, blocking the revolving door between industry and Washington, making everyone who runs for federal office put their tax returns online.
2. BIDEN: I assume we’re only talking about the corruption of the federal government. We weren’t talking about Barack Obama and his spotless administration who made so much progress.
3. SANDERS: We have got to bring Iran and Saudi Arabia together in a room under American leadership and say we are sick and tired of us spending huge amounts of money and human resources because of your conflicts.
4. YANG:I want to propose a new world data organization, like a WTO for data, because right now, unfortunately, we’re living in a world where data is the new oil and we don’t have our arms around it.
5. STEYER: I’ve spent a decade fighting and beating oil companies, stopping pipelines, stopping fossil fuel plants, ensuring clean energy across the country. I know that we have to do this. I also know that we can do this.
6. BOOKER: My plan is very simple. If you’re a renter who pays more than a third of your income in rent, then you will get a refundable tax credit between the amount you’re paying and the area median rent. That empowers people in the same way we empower homeowners.
7. BUTTIGIEG: Since I was named, I’d like to have time…
8. KLOBUCHAR: And that’s what should happen. So while I appreciate his work, I am someone that doesn’t come from money. I see my husband out there. My first Senate race, I literally called everyone I knew and I set what is still an all-time Senate record. I raised $17,000 from ex-boyfriends.
9. HARRIS: Look, there’s a lot at stake in this election, and I’ve said it many times, I think justice is on the ballot in 2020. And it’s about economic justice. It’s about justice for children. It’s about justice for our teachers. I could go on down the list.
10. GABBARD: I speak the truth with the tongue of a warrior tested in battle. I stand up to the lying establishment media that led us into war. That’s why my corrupt opponents fear me, especially Donald Trump.
2 Biden
Yeah I think it is 2, and I’d say it was obvious except Biden is so senile he might have aid almost anything.
Definitely not the Sanders quote. I recall him saying that laugher
Didn’t Steyer make his money in oil?
He owned one of the largest coal mines on the planet for a while:
***
In October 2012, Steyer stepped down from his position at Farallon in order to focus on advocating for alternative energy.[16][17] Steyer decided to dispose of his carbon-polluting investments in 2012, although critics say he did not dispose of them quickly enough and noted that the lifespan of the facilities he funded would extend through 2030.[18] A 2014 New York Times article said coal-mining companies that Farallon invested in or lent money to under Steyer had increased their coal production by 70 million tons annually since receiving money from Farallon, and that Steyer remained invested in the Maules Creek coal mine.
***
Hey Tom- go piss up a rope.
LOL I knew it something like that.
What a smug prick.
Job requirement?
Coal.
10
That is my guess too.
I keep wrestling with this in my mind, and I think I’ve settled on this:
If we’re going to go down that route, it needs to be for *every* elected office – because the local council creature or state apparatchik has just as much power over me as any federal functionary.
Again, the truly scary thing is the only one is false.
8. No way Klobacher has had boyfriends.
Agreed. Also, no way she’s good enough to merit that kind of money.
Although, it is a pretty boss emasculating move if true. Sorry, Mr Cunte.
I’ll go with 3

Well, I don’t know, cause you didn’t put a link there. You mean Steam?
Sure, I’d rather play it on Steam, but I’m not willing to let the best RPG in a decade just sit there unplayed for that long.
I am. I have work product to produce, a book to review, several books to write, and money to save up. The game will still be there next year.
And I have a project 3 years in the making to release on Dec 10 and an impatient wife and I did’t let that stop me from playing the greatest game ever created by humans 2019, but that’s just me.
I’ve been having major issues with Steam recently. Can’t download any games.
The Steam client is a CPU pig and I hate having to launch it just to play a damn game.

I’m thinking of something lean to pair with the remaining duck. Eating it cold didn’t work because of the crisco-like texture of the fatty layer, so I’m planning on pairing it with a leaner animal and serving hot to balance that out.
There’s a famous hot dog place in Chicago that cooked fries with duck fat. There was always a huge line.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Doug%27s
***
In 2006, Hot Doug’s garnered media attention when it continued to serve various foie gras-based sausages and condiments following the banning of foie gras by the city of Chicago. The ban had been proposed by Alderman Joe Moore, inspired by Chicago chef Charlie Trotter’s announcement that he had stopped serving foie gras on animal-cruelty grounds.[6] Sohn flagrantly flouted the law by developing a “celebrity” dog made with foie gras, naming it after Ald. Joe Moore and selling the “Joe Moore” during the ban. Sohn, the owner of Hot Doug’s, was eventually fined $250 and 30 pounds of foie gras were confiscated from the restaurant. While Sohn may not have entered the argument to drum up sales, the restaurant did benefit from the controversy as it served as free publicity. Sohn was the first in the city to be fined, though a city spokesman stated that enforcement of the ordinance was “one of our lowest priorities”. The ban was repealed in May 2008 and the foie gras items were brought back into the restaurant’s rotating menu lineup. Hot Doug’s specialty duck fat fries weren’t affected by the ban.

Am I special for still owning a Pontiac?
Really? Is that really that much of an oddity?
I was just talking about this a couple of days ago and one of our more jr software guys says ‘Really, you own a Pontiac?. Really? It’s only 10 years old, it’s not like it’s an AMC Pacer.
So I called a local shop and the guy is like ‘We don’t really work on Pontiacs’, and I was like ‘Really, WTF does that even mean?’. Fast forward, other guy I called actually wants to make money, apparently, and so I take it in on Monday.
So an Aztec? Walter? is that you?

Actually, I’m sort of more hatin on my 2019 Tuscon because I swear the auto wipers don’t work, and I just bought this thing straight off the showroom floor.
Kia Sedona, all kinds of cool shit in this thing, no leaks, 150k miles,
KIAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
4K mile, I love the car, but I can’t get the auto wipers to work. Gotta call the stealership.
I wouldn’t trust an automatic wiper. Every windshield wiper I’ve ever seen has always smeared the water across the windshield, so it would have to be bad enough that the smear is less of an obstruction than the droplets, and I’m hard pressed to believe the machine would be calibrated to that.
If the intermittent wipers would work, I’d be OK, but doesn’t seem either work…
Shitty feature anyway. Never executes at the right pace.
We had several AMCs in my family. The first car I bought for myself (rather than inheriting it from a parent) was an ’80 AMC Spirit hatchback. Loved that car, even after I had to prop up the hatch with an axe handle. (Gave me an excuse to keep an axe handle in the car before I got a CCW permit.) Kept that car until it started dripping gasoline onto the muffler.
I had an AMC Eagle when I was 19, wish I still had it.
i don’t get this. I’ve had some weird cars and I’ve never had a shortage of mechanics willing to deliver the bad news.

This is probably the stupidest part of an exceptionally stupid essay:
***
We might be told that a wealth tax will “damage economic growth,” but growth isn’t what matters, what matters is the resulting welfare of non-rich people. If we have an economy with only two people, one of whom is homeless and has only $10 and one of whom has $10 billion, and our proposed policy would give $10 more to the homeless person, then we might want to do it even if for some reason we thought it would wipe out $9 billion for the billionaire. Why? Because we’ve doubled the homeless person’s wealth even as we have had a negligible utility impact on the other person.

What is wealth? We don’t fucking know! It’s Magic!
It’s Magic!
Then GIVE ME MY TWO DOLLARS!
Was expecting this.
I don’t know what that is or why your were expecting it, but…
…no. I got nothing.
Doug Henning, Chick Magnet, popular magician in the ’70s, early ’80s.
Good lord – seventies overload.
Ohh…shiiiiit! Doug Henning. Wow. I had forgotten all about that dude.
He was a chick magnet? For REAL?
????
Why get ahead? they just cut it off, your head I mean,
Dude – low. hanging. fruit.
Don’t brag
Behold the ravages of age.
You’re right.
His single payer food article was way dumber. And the kidney transplant draft lottery one was downright horrifying.
Low Hanging Fruit.
Swap assets. Come back in a year or two.
Homeless guy is homeless again with ten bucks.
Rich guy turns his tem buck into another fortune.
You talkin’ ’bout me Willis?
Yeah, You’ll get back. I admire how positive you are.
Best. Popcorn. Maker. Ever.
I found one of these in a thrift store for like $5. The butter-melting tray was empty. No problem. Packing tape will cover it. The yellow thing is loose inside the guts of the thing, but no problem. I’ll just hold it while it pops.
I can pop 2 Tbsp of kernels in 5 minutes. A little (a lot) Orville Redenbacher popcorn butter and salt, and I’ve got movie popcorn. Not a lot. Not even as much as a microwave popcorn packet.
Truth.
We’ve had ours for like 30 years. Hold a knife over the popping are to slow down the popped kernals form coming out too fast. Not too many unpopped kernals escape that way.
The melting tray is stupid anyway..
Just what I needed.
I guess you‘re just what I needed.
Drive is one of the most potent songs of the 80s.
RIP, Rick.
This crazy rendezvous
Fuckin. A.
I’m not the one.
Better Not The One, in Waltz Time.
SAD, MIKE’S didn’t defend this.
Why? Why would you attack me?
Just LISTEN!
I’m trying, but I can’t quite get you tuned in.
Get closer to Hollywood.
Are these times contagious?
I got better.
Like a Hurricane!
For Hi-X
Also for Hy-X
What a great band.
I’m mostly a hard-rock guy, but damn I love the Cars.
I love everything about that.
Bless you, my son.
Thank you MikeS.
I watched the whole thing and now my eyes are leaking
Who’s gonna drive you home? tonight….
Dennis Miller and Dana Carver hosting on TCM. Almost as good as Robert Osborne, if a bit different.
#fireBenMankieshitz
Dana Carver?
Daniel Carver…?
“Ain’t gonna fix it. Nope. Read my lips.”
Carvey?
And yes, that a Young Turk was given control of that station is beyond bullshit. Not to mention he’s not especially good at his job. He normally comes across as an arrogant ass-hat.
I dunno about the giving control, but hosting is bad enough. He has this smirkyness that grates. Sliding on his name in Hollywood.
OK, “control” was a bit of hyperbole, but they haven’t come anywhere near a decent replacement for Osborne.
And the other male idiot has a weird speech pattern. Or inflection…what ever.
Night, Glibbies. It was a challenging evening. I’ll catch you on the flip side from my favorite barstool.
Good night, Spud.
Godspeed, buddy.
Nighty night, Spud! Take care of yourself!
I raced from drunk enough to write straight to too drunk to write. People keep futzing with my routine and it throws me off.
Need an hour to mellow out?
This works for me.

They will be here at the end of January. I think I’m gonna go.
Surprised you haven’t mentioned this
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1955-austin-healey-100-bn1-roadster-7/
I haven’t been linking the A-Hs lately. They torture me and I don’t want to put pressure on you! 😉
It’s on my watch list, though.
I keep telling my kids that once they are out of college, all bets are off. I ask them what color they want to inherit!
It’s a gorgeous car. $40K?
I’m partial to the 4 cyl cars. This is really nice. The sump isn’t even stove in. Dunno about pricees 60K?
Struggling with new metal in the fenders and getting them to fit.
https://imgur.com/a/jC4dQGn
I think the factory struggled to get them to fit!
It’s such a beautiful car. There have been a handful of 3000s recently.
This one went RNM today.
Gorgeous.
Yeah. The body panels are not really interchangeable. Suppliers alway say “Some rework may be required.”
Rumor is that car lenght could vary by 3/4″
Howdy all. Checking in from work while waiting for our truck to arrive so we may get started.
My 2nd car was an AMC, an Ambassador Brougham Wagon in silver with genuine wood-grain decals on the side panels. That thing was nigh unstoppable and the perfect car for a teen boy.
AMC, being roughly where Rand put the failed company where John Galt had worked, is I suppose her inspiration.
I grew up riding in a 1970 Ford Country Squire station wagon. Big V8, wood grain, the works. It wasn’t such an enlightened time, so my siblings and I just rode in the back – no seatbelts, shit, no seats.
And nothing else happened.
I have VERY fond memories of riding around with my grandfather in his Impala; sitting on phone-books to see out the windows, with seat-belt being nothing but grandpa’s right arm, extended to hold me while braking.
My Mom in the Volkwagon, arm out for braking….
good life
A song for riding around with grandpa.
I used to ride around in the back of my mom’s van all the time. Hold on! The flyover from Ridge Road onto the 490 was the best.
490390oh fuck it was still the 47 back then.Friday Funbags anarchy!

I had to go to a transgender acceptance brief in 2017. Dear god, it was horrible. It took all my self-control just to sit silently with a neutral expression. I actually got complimented on my stoicism.
When Trump made his announcement on Twitter that same year, you could hear faint strains of the hallelujah chorus.
A sane person looks at the military and thinks its purpose is to fight and win wars.
A prog looks at it and thinks it’s a great way to get the govt to pay for sex changes.
It’s sort of like how every. single. article. about transgenders in the military has a blurb about more money going to Viagra that sex changes. Because there couldn’t possibly be a perfectly reasonable explanation for that.
My position on transgenders is the same as for schizophrenics: I don’t want them to suffer and they don’t belong in the military.
You’re going to ban diabetics but keep people who take the hormones of the opposite gender and have a catastrophically high suicide rate?
Bullshit.
I’ve been hearing the viagra/contraception crap for twenty years. Got their free birth control and still can’t let it go.
The USS Acadia incident would indicate burf kontro is not rigorously used:
***
On 5 September 1990 the ship departed San Diego for the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. She was responsible for the first reload of shipboard Tomahawk missiles outside the continental U.S. while pierside in Mina Jebel Ali. The reload recipient was the guided missile destroyer John Paul Jones.
This was the first wartime deployment of a mixed male-female crew on a U.S. Navy combat vessel. Just over one third of her crew were women, which caused some controversy when during the course of the mission 1 in 10 of the female crew either became pregnant or discovered they already were.[4][5]

Sounds like there was a Whole Lotta Love going on there.
I know that nothing stops the North Winds, but Why Does Canada keep creeping in to the desert, it snows where I’m moving to in AZ, is it because AlGore?
or the Global whatever?
It’s because Rufus touches himself at night…and during the day.
I thought he worked,
Maybe that’s his job.
Jeepers. Sign me up.
that’s not what he advertises, thanks GT! BTW
goodnight Kids, Warm bed tonight and some kites! tomorrow, Peace out friends,
Pleasant dreams, Yufus!
Sweet dreams, buddy. Have fun kiting tomorrow.
Good night good sir!
So, I might not be a radio DJ anymore, I just sent a scathing e-mail about why I should work there when they just fucked over my friend. I’ve got a bit of a temper.
Dammit, dude. Did you just get yourself fired?
Labor negotiations (probably fired, but I’d make more money working at McDonalds)
Oh, boy. Don’t email drunk, angry, tired, or hungry, dude.
Don’t be so judgemental.
😉
When driving off a cliff, push the pedal through the floor.
Gustave gets it!
When in doubt, throttle out!
I make less money going to work there. If they’re going to fuck me over, then fuck them, this is true labor negotiation. Their are things no one else there knows how to do, and they fuck us part timers over.
https://youtu.be/7t7yfNbxz7Y
Once again, Gustave gets it!
By the by, the last time I drunk emailed them I got a raise. Being drunk doesn’t make me dumb like some others, it just unlocks my ruthlessness.
I’m working on a new story. I got a guy who identifies as trans-planes and automobiles and a a guy who identifies as a stapler.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqLUbmpuVw4
dunno needs more subtlety. The plane thing was done already
FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! Good morning.
well right back at ya
That’s exactly what Tulpa would say! GOOD JOB
I was expecting a Transformers cartoon.
Is it your birthday!? https://youtu.be/lKowCFTm6uE
I made a mistake. I thought the title of the movie was Trains, Planes, and Automobiles. It isn’t.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_akwHYMdbsM
Oh well- I still have the trans-Napoleon and trans-Spartacuses jokes.
For the first time this Autumn I wake up to see white stuff on the roofs. We finally got some chill after a very warm october and a november.
Fuck you! GLOBAL WARMING MAD SNOW HAPPEN IN WISCONSIN IN OCTOBER LIKE IT HAS 20 OUT OF MY 36 YEARS!
Chafed will get it…maybe a couple others. This is a damn good song.
Damn straight!
Sir Digby can’t join us tonight though I know he would appreciate it. I’m pouring out a 40 for him.
You know who else was from Texas?
That’s possibly their best song. The mark of a great song is one that makes me believe I can put my head through concrete and makes me feel like I want to test that belief.
By the way you get a shout out in this week’s GlibFit.
Would this song qualify? i got to see them do this song with Warren Haynes, but a different venue.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2zPuEh9QP0
Good song. Good musicians. But I’m not going near concrete listening to it.
I’ll take a shout-out over a shout-at any day!
This guy
I thought he was Florida spawned.
There’s this little band…
Are you answering your questions?
Did you have a question?
So I had to sit through presentations on biodiversity and water shortages put on at the UN university. I got paid to sit through them, but not enough. *Sigh* Other than vague references to the economic cost of thei rrq
Uhm. Dammit.
What do you do for a living Straff?
This particular job is editing/translation for UN university in Tokyo.
JFC. My condolences. I couldn’t figure out how you would have to be exposed to that crap for work. Now I get it.
I’ll try to slip in some Epstein references into the final draft.
Let us know how it goes. Don’t leave us hanging.
It seems only right. Everyone else is doing it.
“Epstein was here!”
Now you’re just screwing with me. 国連 was one of this week’s kanji.
Japanese teachers love teaching 国連 almost as much as they love teaching 日本列島。
There’s some kanji for “count” which has a picture of a ear. In the days of yore, the dead were counted by cutting off ears and counting them later.
My favorite bit of Japanese trivia: the word for “different” (chigau) also means “wrong”.
TL;DR
The authoritarian bent of the eco assholes is plain as day. Who actually pays the biggest price for their “solutions” is the poorest of the poor.
good incentive not to be poor
It’s not Mother Nature that’s their biggest threat. It’s these Mother Fuckers.
Can’t be. AOC’s tits told me how important the Green New Deal is and tits never lie.
I thought hips never lied
Is it too late to resurrect Rob Schneider’s career? Because I’m starting to think I didn’t give him enough credit.
https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2019/11/22/a-load-of-totalitarian-crap-rob-schneiders-tweet-about-free-speech-makes-sacha-baron-cohen-look-like-a-triggered-tool/
Makin’ copies!
Sadly, too late.
That only gives me a short summary. Where’s the actual interaction?
You can do it!
He makes a good point. He’s still a terrible comedy actor:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9D4V3JDHHk
He was pretty funny in one SNL sketch as the Turkish guy. I can’t find the clip, so here’s the gist:
1979 – John Goodman angrily accosts a newspaper stand: Go back to Iran, you son of a bitch!
Rob Schneider’s character: I’m….Turkish. Read sign! Not. From. Iran.
1991 – John Goodman angrily accosts a newspaper stand: Go back to Iraq, you son of a bitch!
Rob Schneider’s character: I’m….Turkish. Read sign! Not. From. Iraq.
(I forget the year) – John Goodman politely greets shopkeeper and buys a newspaper. As he reads it unfolded, the shopkeeper sees that on below the fold is a story about Turkish terrorists attacking the US embassy in Turkey. The shopkeeper’s eyes get wide. He says “yes, please continue reading sports, lifestyle…do not look below fold!
You dot like a tha Rob, eh?
Why is he famous but this gal is not?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbd0FcnFfO0
Oh yeah – ’cause he’s friends with Adam Sandler.
I’m hypnotized. Doubly.
That stupid xkcd commic which has no understanding of free speech always makes its way in the comments. That comic makes smug morons feel smart.
But it is truly a sad state of afairs how few prople try to understand things beyond the shallow first layer
Agreed.
That’s the vibe I get from every single xkcd comic.
Last presentation is here. Thank Allah. It’s 25 minutes on why interns should get paid. I can’t take much more of this.
Of course they should be paid! The question is, in which currency?
Cigars is a very presidential choice.
Waste of a Cuban if you ask me.
Some get paid with presidential penis.
