It’s the Monday before Thanksgiving, and that means my kids are home from school and I am trying to button things up this week for my last auction of the year where I get rid of the stuff I got hung with or bought thinking I could flip it. There will be a lot of head-scratching and “what were you thinking” as I go through it. Oh well, it’ll take my mind off The Game for a while. After otherwise manhandling Penn State, the Buckeyes look ready (if they can hold onto the damn ball). I know who wasn’t ready: Oregon. They shit the bed in the desert and all but put the Pac12 out of the playoff race unless Utah blows the doors off Colorado and the Ducks themselves. Of course, nobody in the SEC of note played a decent opponent. They don’t do that during the penultimate week of the season. And Clemson decided to take a bye week as they wrap up that murderers row of a schedule they faced with South Carolina and then likely a 4-loss foe in the ACCCG. There was a bunch of other shit that happened, especially yesterday in the NFL, but I just now realized I spent too much time on this opening paragraph and am now behind, so I’ve got to move on.
Birthday celebrants today are steel magnate Andrew Carnegie, automotive pioneer Karl Benz, busybody asshole Carrie Nation, Pope John XXIII, “old time hockey” legend Eddie Shore, baseball player and coffee pitchman Joe DiMaggio, Chilean helicopter fan Augusto Pinochet, actors Ben Stein and John Larroquette, Bucky Fucking Dent, unqualified pilot John F Kennedy Jr, possibly the best receiver of all time Cris Carter, and the lovely Christina Applegate.
OK, on to…the links!
The commies got their taints kicked in in the local Hong Kong elections. Let’s see how this effects what’s going on. Because if we all know one thing its how commies respect elections that don’t go their way.
This woman has more lives than a cat. Or she’s a skin-suited robot. Either way, good to see her back on her feet. I hope she lives another 20 years. But she really does need to retire out of respect for the office she’s incapable of filling anymore.
A popular Alabama sheriff was killed in a parking lot…by the son of a cop.
London becomes a little less free. I don’t know if I even want to visit that shithole anymore. People there are little more than drones at this point.
What a couple of assholes. Learn some science, dickheads.
Hoooooooooooly Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttt. That’s gonna shake that business up.
Don’t let your girl take a holiday alone. Bad things can happen.
That’s all I got. Have a great Monday.
London becomes a little less free. I don’t know if I even want to visit that shithole anymore. People there are little more than drones at this point. – any uber driver could just carry a butter knife, is that what you want?
Becomes? Shit, I think there is more freedom in Beirut than in London…
“This is London, not the Lebanon”

When Taleb gets through with it Lebanon will be Switzerland in the East
…a lofty goal that many aspire to.
It is all done via Localism
Will you Tell us about it? Sorry I canton ‘alp it.
I’m just shocked at how an entire nation can so happily accept being completely emasculated. Hell, the people there are calling for more laws to restrict/ban basic household items because they’re under the illusion that the criminals will follow the laws.
Its a sad state of affairs.
I am sad cause I like things about England as a country, but I would have major second though about say moving there. I though about it when multiple friends did, but meh.
A lot has been made that the Constitution can’t enforce itself, but you can see how it certainly has slowed our decent compared to England.
I always get a kick out of how small Europe is. People moving countries so easily because they’re in such close proximity. Moving from London to Vienna (I know you’re not in Vienna) would be about like moving from here to El Paso. But I’d be going through half a dozen countries to get there.
That was meant to be in reply to Pie.
well it looks correct
It does now. It didn’t before. I need my morning tea.
I would postulate that going from where you are to El Paso would be about the same cultural gap as going from Romania to London. But you might have a different perspective.
At least the language would be 75% the same.
Just be careful of women you meet in Rose’s Cantina.
…and stay away from the back door…
The place’s back door, or the women’s back door?
“I’m just shocked at how an entire nation can so happily accept being completely emasculated.”
I believe there are many not willing to accept, but they showed up too late to that shitshow, and now, with cancel culture ready to destroy their lives if they as much as complain, they have no choice. It’s just too late. There is a lesson there for us too…
My state’s bigger than them and we (they) did it.
I’m just shocked at how an entire nation can so happily accept being completely emasculated.
In general yes, but not when the nation in question is the UK. Remember the UK is the nation that decided to chuck Winston Churchill out of office only two months after VE Day.
The commies got their taints kicked in in the local Hong Kong elections. Let’s see how this effects what’s going on. Because if we all know one thing its how commies respect elections that don’t go their way. – democracy only counts when the right results happen. We would not want the wrong results
The election at least shows that it’s more than a few college kids who wanna play rebel like some of the China propaganda has tried using to downplay it.
This is real, and there’s at least broad support for the revolution of our time.
The Chinese will just use their intrusive security system, sold as a means to “protect” citizens from criminals, to identify the trouble makers, and sent hitmen to deal with them off camera. Sooner than later they expect they will have terminated or scared off enough of these rebels to collapse this movement. I sure hope it fails, but this shit works. Our left has learned from them…
What a couple of assholes. Learn some science, dickheads. – vegan advocates should bear some responsibility for better education. Discuss.
Don’t tell me what to do.
Hey! That’s my shtick
IP laws are unlibertarian… Oh wait I think that is bullshit, carry on.
I see more incidents like this as we end up in a society where people’s situational beliefs override facts and logic. Seriously, as an adult if you want to live on a diet that leaves you looking and acting like Peewee Herman, that’s your choice, but when you do that to an infant and not only stunt it’s growth but end up killing it from malnutrition, it is beyond criminal.
It’s really sad, they probably did it for “climate emergency” or some stupid shit.
if you want to live on a diet that leaves you looking and acting like Peewee Herman,
I don’t know what diet would make people jack off at the movie theater, but I want nothing to do with it.
I thought it was a porn theater, where that sort of thing is a bit less frowned upon.
“That sounds a little bit weird….”
Fun Facts – That theater on US-41 in Sarasota, FL did not long survive that incident; it’s been a Dutch Mennonite restaurant since about 1990. Several things combine to make the story risible to me. One of my neighbors was swept up in the same arrest and made the papers because of Reuben’s involvement; this being a tiny barrier island town of 800 full time residents, his name was local gossip for many, many years. Additionally, the arrest was performed by an OFF DUTY Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputy (he was there to enjoy the film on his day off) and according to the arrest report, time of incident was X, time of arrest was X+20 minutes (the deputy finished watching the film before taking action).
You mean he first beat his meat, then cock blocked other patrons? what a douche….
Back the Blue(balls)
What an asshole.
By the way, not all the action in such venues is gay stuff, guys sometimes bring their wives there to get used by strangers, and if you’re the best looking option there, which is not a major hurdle, well…
You saying that for a friend?
No. Although maybe Beloved Commenter Rasilio knows of what I speak.
We do have some people with some interesting areas of expertise here. My favorite subject is ass eating, and I have been waiting for someone to give us an article on that, but so far I have not been given that satisfaction…?
I honestly don’t understand how rgb is still here.
Because the human eye works in Red, Green and Blue?
Oh, you meant RBG?
Damnit stealing my joke too!!!
How boring it must be to think like me.
Now that’s a line too far. I demand satisfaction!
I don’t swing that way, ask someone else.
The Pee wee Herman thread us up some guys…
I think the judges were looking for “$20, same as downtown”.
Leon, you have to follow up your verbal challenge by slapping UCS with some gloves.
Which gloves am i supposed to use?
Your slapping gloves, of course.
Yes.
Wait until we put judge Celeste Yyvette Marmalade Klopenstoffer on the court!
“But she really does need to retire out of respect for the office she’s incapable of filling anymore”
Nazgul? No man can kill her.
No big deal, we seem to be suffering a shortage of men these days.
Someone should start the rumor that she has information on the Clintons.
Eh, it’s the finance industry. Before too long there will be a no-shit monopoly. There’s simply no other way to satisfy the market while complying with the government.
“I work for Bank.”
“Which one?”
“There is only one.”
Collectivists, especially the new fascist, love that. It makes it a lot easier to pick winners and losers. why do you think they all agitate for single payer healthcare?
I have a feeling the government will be in control of that monopoly so they can set up their tax/fee scheme on every market transaction.
I read an interesting take on taxation the other day. It wasn’t a fully formed article but the gist was that taxation is largely a mechanism for controlling inflation by siphoning money from consumers; government spending is all ‘funded’ via the magic of fiat currency. In other words all the spending is doe by ‘printing’ money, taxes just pull some of the funny money back out of the system, and shift the burden of inflation from the powerful to the middle class.
The key to Monopoly is to be buddies with the people in charge. And to sell capital good not purchased by the consumer.
I thought the key to monopoly was to get Hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place.
That’s a bad investment. What you want is Marvin gardens and Ventura boulevard
Bah, play the Kelo edition, you get to force the other players to sell you whatever spaces you want for below market value if you’re the banker.
Incorrect. The orange and light blue properties have the best ROI.
It really doesn’t matter because it’s luck where you land and you should always buy.
The game is broken by design. Was meant was a Georgist learning tool
Incorrect. You need to save money for capital investments & bribes.
Another strategy is to take Baltic and Mediterranean off people’s hands. People will gladly trade a railroad and Baltic for Park Place – get the cheap monopoly and put hotels up ASAP. Remember – a hotel cost 4 houses + $50, not $250. And while they don’t get landed on often, you can assess the number of houses left and trade in the hotel for 4 houses and create a housing shortage, thus preventing other players from building. The railroads get landed on often enough that if you have 3 or 4 of them you ruin the “payday” for that player. Plus they are insurance for the tax assessment cards – and even those are offset by the two “advance to nearest railroad and pay double” cards.
The joke is Canada has the ‘Big Five’ (or six depending if you add the National Bank of Canada) but really are just one bank. They all more or less move in the same direction.
For example, if one bank isn’t lending for something, it’s not like you can cross the street and get a loan at another institution. They all follow the same line.
Think Duff Beer tubes.
Just for reference, the US has 6,000 banks. Down from the 12,000 or so it had, but 6,000 and that’s without counting credit unions.
Speaking of real sport, that Luka Doncic guy is having quite a streak for a slow fat white guy who can’t jump.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the dickheads at the Harvard-Yale game. The teams should have just kept playing
I think OMWC covered it well enough. Besides, I won’t give any satisfaction to them. Calling that matchup “The Game” when America knows that term belongs to The Ohio State Buckeyes vs TTUN? Give me a fucking break.
Can’t they just let the Ivies keep it and call their game the annual ass whoop?
For instance, officials say unauthorized drivers were able to upload their own photos to other drivers’ accounts, allowing them to pick up passengers posing as the real driver.
That happened on at least 14,000 trips — all of which were uninsured and some of which were taken by unlicensed drivers, one of whom had had their license previously revoked, the transport agency said.
Another flub allowed suspended or dismissed drivers to create an Uber account and pick up riders, officials say. Transport for London said it also found other issues, including several insurance-related problems, some of which led the agency to prosecute Uber this year.
“License”?
Like the incredibly detailed and complicated London Cabby license, or a basic skills license?
How many of those trips ended in tragedy?
Makes no sense to me. Aren’t they paid through the app? If your Uber account is suspended, you don’t get paid. Anyway, car plus people equals ride, where’s the problem?
The problem is, almost certainly, cutting into existing taxi company profits.
Any trip that was not distinctly permitted by the gov’t is a tragedy in the gov’t eye, so all of them ended in tragedy.
Slovis broke the single game yards record at USC Saturday.
what is that in meters?
*shrugs* it’s not like anyone knows how long a meter is anyway.

60 zambonis?
4.1e^-3 hogshead-lightyears
Volume-distance doesn’t seem to work out.
after dividing by a lightyear, it’s just so many hogsquared.
MPG sound familiar at all?
That’s a rate, miles over gallons.
If it were miles times gallons, you’ve be in the same ballpark.
Ok, it’s pedantry so I’ll allow your finick, how about distance till empty? You could express that in terms of gallon miles
I don’t see how.
Distance till empty is Yg(Zm/g) = Xm
My tank contains x gallon miles at y speed.
Who are you and what did you do with Jarflax? He used to at least use sentences that made sense.
I was proposing that you can express your tank capacity as gallon miles. Meaning that at a given speed, the number of gallons in your tank will give a specific distance till empty that it would make sense to express as gallon-miles.
That sounds more complicated and less useful than the way we actually do things.
Volume-distance doesn’t seem to work out.
I’m arguing with^ not proposing a new schema, although I’d imagine that regardless of the terminology they use to discuss it the engineers that design cars absolutely are concerned with the concept of tank size and range and they are considering it from the volume side and the range side meaning they are concerned with volume-distance. You are the one who moved the goalposts to disqualify MPG as a volume-distance metric, by redefining – to mean *. In ordinary notation Trashy was actually subtracting lighyears from a hogshead, which actually does sound like a fuel consumption metric so I followed that path.
Now I have over explained enough to burn several word-calories
I did not move the posts, he was not subtracting anything.
You don’t know that. 1/(4.1e)^3 hogshead-lightyears (sorry don’t like negative exponents) can only be defined by Trashy!
What’s the point of using units if they’re not using a standard for notation? Hyphenated full-text unit notation is indicative of multiplication. If you’re arguing he’s using a custom notation, then you’ve moved the goalposts.
Hyphenated full-text unit notation is indicative of multiplication.
I dispute this claim. It is indicative that the word is compound and that is all. The hyphen is not there to describe the operation being performed it is there to tell you that the two words are not to be read independently. It is grammar not math. Foot-pound can be said to describe a multiplication because if you move a pound 3 feet or 3 pounds 1 foot you have spent the same energy, light-year does not describe a multiplication.
It’s a measure of the effusiveness of Swalwell’s fart.
Is Helton going to keep his job? I wonder. And if they do let him go, do they have to wait a week to see if Utah gets upset and they will be in the Pac12 Championship Game? That quirky schedule is playing havoc with their ability to make a decision.
On that note, so is the AAC’s schedule. If Cincy beats Memphis, Navy could be in the CCG and if they win, the CFP committee might have to wait an extra week to assign the G5 school to see if Navy beats Army. And that could lead to a cascade effect on bowl assignments.
I assume a bowl game will save his job.
It’s really the recruitment that’s taken the big hit with helton as coach. And thats really not a good look. But slovis and the current wrs could convince someone that going there can still be a solid path to the NFL. The bowl games will be interesting this year, there’s a lot of outcomes still on the table.
“Utah gets upset”
Before this week id say it couldn’t happen. Then the ducks pissed their pants. Fuck a duck Alabama does not deserve to be in the playoffs.
If Oklahoma or Utah win out, I don’t see Bama having a path in. Hell, OSU could probably lose a game and get in before Bama. If that game is to Minnesota (it won’t be), then the B1G would put two teams in before they put LSU and Bama in.
Of course, UGA could beat LSU and that would probably end Bama’s hopes altogether. But I don’t see that happening with Georgia’s anemic offense.
SIV, is that you?
It all depends on if they think they have a shot at Meyer or another big name. I doubt they fire him then go into a long search mode – killing their recruiting for a year. I hope they are still embarrassed for not hiring Ed Orgeron as the full time coach.
Go Navy!!! Beat Army!!!
Oh yeah – go Buckeyes too.
she really does need to retire out of respect for the office she’s incapable of filling anymore
She can’t retire as long as Bad Orange Man exists to name her replacement with someone presumably more adhered to the Constitution.
commies respect elections
It is who counts the votes that matters. And if that fails, there is always mass-murder on the part of the government.
“They shit the bed in the desert and all but put the Pac12 out of the playoff race unless Utah blows the doors off Colorado and the Ducks themselves. ”
I’d love for Utah to be in. But If Alabama gets in I’ll be upset.
London becomes a little less free.
They haven’t been free for quite some time.
Looking forward to driving to work today, there’s usually about a quarter less cars this week.
Funny, there were more people on the road this morning than usual around here.
I got in 15 minutes early and that’s with an accident on the 405.
so 75 minutes instead of 90?

That’s was a great read. Thanks.
Good morning, Sloopy and all of you Monday malcontents!
London is still a cool place to visit. Highly recommended.
I have no issue with adults making nutritional decisions for themselves, but little kids should not be vegans. That said, the whole story was fucking gross. The veganism really is just a sideshow. Those parents were gonna kill their kids one way or another.
Bad things can happen.
Noted. Great selection.
“but little kids should not be vegans”
Saddest (yes it’s hyperbole) thing is hearing that a little kid is on a diet. Except a diet to gain weight.
1.5 years ago as we were starting feeding therapy with our daughter, the nutritionist said she was getting everything she needed except fat. “Add cream to her milk.”
My daughter loved extra fatty milk.
Is she hispanic?
I wet to London, Swansea and drive up the east coast of Ireland. Next time, I’ll skip England all together. Trip got progressively better.
Go up the West coast of Ireland. From the Mizen Head out in the far west of Cork up through Kerry and onwards north all the way to Galway is some fantastic coastline, great villages with outstanding pubs.
This stuff makes me sad. London was a truly great city, and my “I’ll wander around and see what I see” method of tourism was fantastic there. I’d walk along, take the tube and get off a stop with a familiar sounding name and poof some historical spot, or location from literature was right there. I’d be afraid to do that now, but 15 years ago it was awesome.
I saw ‘Midway’ this weekend. It was pretty good and seemed to hit all of the notable points of the actual history in a way that respects said history.
How does it compare to the original movie?
Mitsubishi Zero Toras out of Three?
Saw it last Saturday, and agree. Some particulars with my history-geek hat on:
– General order of history (macro and micro )was pretty good.
– Pacing during battle could have been slower, but the movie would have been 5 hours long. It was kinda like watching a football game in replay where they only show between snap and tackle.
– Explodey parts of ships burning (orange flame and black smoke) was more right than most think. We’re used to black-and-white historical photos from WW2 and mostly don’t get the burning-fuel aspect. See Falklands war for color version.
– Other explodey parts were a little too much gasoline for real depiction. Most bursts don’t look like that.
– This is a Chinese movie (see funding), and it shows. If you’re in China and watching Chinese movies, well of course the Japanese are the bad guys – they always look like the NVA as the bad guys in Rambo movies. But this is the first time I can think of where a Chinese movie is doing it out in the Western open, in front of all of us.

probably good all things considered
This seems to be a trend in central Europe. Do you think the pendulum is swinging back?
Neah the PSD candidate was very bad, a barely literate moron with links to one of the most corrupt assholes around. The swing will be seen, if ti exists, at the parliamentary elections.

Turn back the clock. We want a do-over
More than a decade after his election, which represented one of the most hopeful moments in American politics, a debate is breaking out among Democrats over Obama’s legacy and the direction the party should go in at a moment in which the historic divides Obama sought to bridge seem more vast than ever.
At a recent gathering of Democrats in Wyandotte County, Kansas, Melissa Bynum, said she wants to hear candidates paint a big picture vision for the future. But she worried that some candidates weren’t recognizing Obama’s legacy.
“Well, I think that they need to make sure that they are acknowledging all of the good that he was able to accomplish in his eight years in the White House,” she said.
——-
During last week’s debate, Democrats also tussled over who would be the best candidate to reinvigorate the multiracial, multigenerational cohort of voters that Obama brought to the polls in 2008.
California Sen. Kamala Harris repeatedly, explicitly argued that she is the candidate “who has the ability to go toe-to-toe with Donald Trump and someone who has the ability to rebuild the Obama coalition and bring the party and the nation together.”
Now, that’s seriously funny. She’ll bring us all into a big tent. Just like Maricopa Joe Arpaio. Baloney sammiches for everybody!
” at a moment in which the historic divides Obama sought to bridge seem more vast than ever”
US has always been divided. That said there was some ways that we are divided now that were not present. And I think Mr “Elections have consequences” is part of the problem.
“I won”
Funny how they want that only to apply when it is one of them that wins….
“California Sen. Kamala Harris repeatedly, explicitly argued that she is the candidate “who has the ability to go toe-to-toe with Donald Trump””
You can’t even go toe to toe with Tulsi “I can’t debate” Gabbard.
You know who the nation isn’t going to unite behind? Someone who makes Hillary Clinton look likeable and competent.
The left is finally coming to grips with the fact that they forced a moron on the country, then cheered him on as he built up the most corrupt state apparatus ever – because it was then used to circumvent the constitution through executive fiat – and let it loose, and the other side won and then decided to play by the same rules. Suddenly Obama is no longer the great savior. My suspicion is that this change of heart (towards accepting the reality of how bad the empty suit run Obama administration really was not just for the country, but for the democratic party itself) is only happening because orange man won the election they thought had been rigged in favor of crooked Hillary by the machine.
The WaPo just made the astonishing claim that Obama is ‘conservative’.
Talk about moving goal posts.
He was a skosh to the right of Mao and Stalin, so they are right. Now Liawatha, she is a real true non-conservative. Under her we will finally get the proper body count to shame Mao and Stalin….
Rhetorically, Obama was much more conservative (outside of ‘you didn’t build that’ or ‘bitter clingers’) than his policies indicated.
Just because he wasn’t mentioned by anyone else doesn’t mean they’re acceding anything but that Obama is anything but a savior.
The left does not see their winningness as mistakes. What they want is feature, not bug.
Agree wholly with your point, Mojeux. But the fact is that they are now seeing the cost of winning at all costs has gone up. I think they might be catching on that their calculation that team red would always roll over and grab their ankles for them backfired when the players opted to go with a guy that would play by their rules. Now the only strategy they have left is to burn it all down, and while they seem to be hell bent to play it out that way if they can’t win, this must be disheartening for them. After all, they thought they had gotten so close to pure victory while the other side slept through the woodpeckering event.
the good that he was able to accomplish
Which was?
Great gun salesman?
He cancelled the epic boondoggle Constellation program. But I doubt that’s what they’re talking about.
Opened Cuba. That’s all I remember liking.
His friend Castro needed money, and he didn’t have palettes of cash to mail Fidel.

“No cutting in line” my ass!
GUUURRLLL POWER!
Machete is British for assault rifle.
So, after all the build up, Frozen 2 viewers are more violent than Joker viewers?
I am not surprised.
If I was forced to watch that Frozen drivel I too would be inclined to take a machete to the people forcing it on me….
Looks like no one was willing to let it go.
Gary Bradley-Lopez, 21, supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 and said that none of the current candidates is “bringing the kind of fire” that Clinton did that year, or that Obama did in the two prior elections.
He says his biggest priority in a candidate is that they be a woman or a person of color — he isn’t interested in electing another white man. And he says that though he’s “culturally” excited for candidates like Harris, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, he still doesn’t know who he’ll support.
“I’m not sure if there’s a candidate that right. Like, Oh, I can’t wait to go knock on doors for them or I can’t wait for them to be president,.” he said. “I’m not sure that candidate is even in the race yet.”
People this stupid should not be permitted to vote.
“He says his biggest priority in a candidate is that they be a woman or a person of color”
Totally not a racist.
Clearly not. Any color woman works.
“She’s still not gonna fuck you, Gary.”

he isn’t interested in electing another white man
Because skin pigment is what matters.
As long as her penis identifies as a vagina, then yes, just down to color.
Fun fact: Chris Carter’s son Deron has kicked around the CFL. Weird dude.
Incidentally, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won the Grey Cup (the second oldest trophy in pro sports and produced by fame Birks Jewellers (now in Italian hands) last night beating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats – The only pro sports team with a redundant name.
Take that fo’data!
Not being a sportsball follower, I momentarily thought you were talking about the X Files guy.
He isn’t?
No, he meant the asshole Chris Carter. oh wait.
Hmmm…not sure they arent the same guy.
Maybe he is. I don’t know who Chris Carter is from a football perspective. Cris Carter, OTOH, was the best receiver of all time and the dude could e-l-e-v-a-t-e.*
*We used to play pickup basketball at Sunset Park in Middletown, OH. Carter would show up with his asshole brother Butch and I once saw him jump up and place a quarter on the top of the backboard on a bet.
Why do I get the image of Butch dunking over you and then dishing out some trash talk while you lie on your back?
Well seeing as he was in the NBA and I was 15, I hope he would have. Still, he was a dickhead.
They both spell it Cris, not fixing the problem.
One was a receiver almost as good as Jerry Rice, the other is the predecessor to JJ Abrams.
I wonder what his career stats would have been with Montana and Young throwing to him instead of…shit, Wade Wilson, Sean Salisbury and Rich Gannon.
I wonder what his stats would have been if he’d quit the X and coke earlier. Rice was still better, but Carter was a great one.
Miami Heat?
Colorado Rockies?
I think all of you meant Cris Carter.
Best hands I ever saw on a player.
That was great!

Australia woman charged with murder after toddlers die in hot car
Sad but in Australia of all places care must be taken with hot cars
88F? OK, this tells me the kids must have been in the car for hours… WTF was the mother doing??
Drugs, apparently.
This is pretty much always the case if you look at the data. No one accidentally leaves their kids in the car. Parents are either crazy or malicious or on drugs. In which case they would’ve been also in danger at home.
I think there are some legit accidents. Most of those I blame on passenger side airbags.
Passenger side airbags caused rear facing baby seats to be moved to the back, where you could forget about a sleeping kid.
It happened to a fire fighter here. Was coming off a long shift, drop the school age kids off, went home, fell asleep, left the baby in the backseat.
Yeah, I think that there are quite a few actual accidents that happen. The biggest seem to be that the parents change up the routine one morning and the one who was supposed to drop off the kid at daycare totally forgets and goes to work instead.
Tragic and stupid, but usually not evil.
This. It’s why I always stick my laptop bag and lunchbox in the back seat. Had a client who got a patent on tech that notifies the parent when they forget their kid in the car, and seeing his business’s linkedin feed scared me into taking every precaution.
Lucky him, looks like the Feds are going to mandate that feature on new cars.
That is really extraordinarily rare though.
Kids dying in hot cars is very rare. Agreed.
Data leak reveals how China ‘brainwashes’ Uighurs in prison camps
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-50511063
The Guardian is concerned
A Guardian analysis found longstanding Facebook pages for VDare, a white nationalist website focused on opposition to immigration; the Affirmative Right, a rebranding of Richard Spencer’s blog Alternative Right, which helped launch the “alt-right” movement; and American Free Press, a newsletter founded by the white supremacist Willis Carto, in addition to multiple pages associated with Red Ice TV. Also operating openly on the platform are two Holocaust denial organizations, the Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust and the Institute for Historical Review.
“There’s no question that every single one of these groups is a white nationalist group,” said Heidi Beirich, the director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) Intelligence Project, after reviewing the Guardian’s findings. “It’s not even up for debate. There’s really no excuse for not removing this material.”
White nationalists support the establishment of whites-only nation states, both by excluding new non-white immigrants and, in some cases, by expelling or killing non-white citizens and residents. Many contemporary proponents of white nationalism fixate on conspiracy theories about demographic change and consider racial or ethnic diversity to be acts of “genocide” against the white race.
Whycome you not censor?
These people are not part of the hive mind. They must be silenced. Obviously, their ideas are so powerful and compelling the slightest exposure to them will turn the most sensitive, caring liberal into a raging Nazi mass murderer.
Based on is policy preferences, Spencer is a leftist. You could literally do a fine and replace on his work, swapping ‘POC’ for ‘White’ and you’d have a proposition the left agrees wholeheartedly with.
VDare, a white nationalist website focused on opposition to immigration;
I’ll admit i have no experience reading VDare, but this nonesense of calling anything not progressive as white nationalist has got to stop.
I remember running across VDare in more paleoconservative circles back in the early aughts. It was more “race realist” than white nationalist from what I recall. Lots of “13% of the population commit 50% of the crime” and “look at these persistent trends in IQ” type of stuff.
My understanding of VDare is that it tends towards the Buchananesque view of immigration. It’s run by Peter Brimelow, who hates teachers’ unions with the fury of a thousand suns, so I can’t dislike him that much regardless of anything else he proposes.
Possibly true, but when you’ve said literally the exact same thing about Focus on the Family you don’t have any credibility left when you make a true allegation.
And of course, even if true it doesn’t follow that they must be removed from a web platform.
Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) Intelligence Project
Somebody needs to sue the SPLC for false advertising.
Can it be both false advertising and an organized campaign of misinformation?
Meh, wake me when anyone at the SPLC takes Pat Buchanan on in a debate.
The case of exploring Uranus’s magnetosphere:
https://twitter.com/ToughSf/status/1198594365477793792
Not clicking that… Bet it is an article for toilet paper…
You should really stop sticking magnets in Uranus.
If you thought getting your esophagus/intestine pinched shut from eating rare-earth magnets was bad, you’ve never had a pair clamped on both sides of your turdcutter.
William Herschel discovered Uranus. He wanted to name it after the British Monarch George.
But whatever society who named these things over ruled him.
William: I shall name it George!
Society: Have you considered uranus?
William:
I hope that when they finally find the singularity (micro black hole) that has everyone thinking there has to be a planet 9 out there, they name it Vagina….
Ahem. Planet 11.
Pluto and Eris are Planets!
You gonna defend that by claiming astronomy is racist since the talk about black hos, brown dwarfs, red giants, and blue balls?
No. I just think the reasoning behind redefining planet to avoid having more objects classified as such is a load of horseshit.
Navy Secretary out after he has a hissy fit over Trump acting like the C&C.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/pentagon-chief-asks-navy-secretary-to-resign-for-handling-of-seal-eddie-gallaghers-case
Good! The panel of officers who were trying to pretend that Trump’s tweet didn’t count as an “official” order should also be brought up on charges (if not cashiered outright).
They should start with that asshat Vindeman whom thinks that foreign policy is done by the unelected deep state bureaucracy and not the POTUS.
Trump should fire the entire cadre of fucking insubordinate cunts that were trying to not just override his orders, but had their own fucking leftist agenda. All branches of the military could use a serious purge at the senior levels considering most of these asshats are political animals pushed by Obama because they believe the next real threat is global warming & the rednecks that won’t cede all control to their betters in D.C., instead of China and it’s world power ambitions.
That left a mark. And speaking of: these people just don’t get irony do they?
Well if that “progressive change” is beyond the powers granted to the federal government by the people, then, yeah they need to be blocked. A “Living Constitution” is no such thing.
I have a leftist friend who always brings up that Jefferson said the constitution should be re-written every 20 years. I told him that i would be fine with that as long as people were free to leave if they didn’t like the changes.
I would also not have a problem with this as long as it involved a constitutional convention to rewrite it….
I suspect tit would keep the political class so busy they wouldn’t have time for many other criminal activities like they do today.
They’re already worked around this by installing an unelected administrative state that’s pursuing all the “progressive change” they want and then some. Matty and friends’ biggest fear is that a “conservative” (read: follows the Constitution) court might put a stop to it.
^^^THIS^^^
I have a leftist friend who always brings up that Jefferson said the constitution should be re-written every 20 years.
Do you remind him that the founders set up a process by which we can do just that? The Constitution can be amended with 3/4ths of the states on board, which admittedly is more stringent than the 2/3rds required to ratify it but less stringent than the 11/12ths that actually ratified it before it took effect. There is only one item in the constitution that is exempt from amendment, so other than that the entire thing can be rewritten, if there was a consensus to do it. It is not rewritten precisely because there is not the consensus to do it. As it should be.
What is purportedly immune from ammendment and how?
Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.
Not purportedly. It is stated in plain language.
It is not protected from amendment if you first amend out that line then then rewrite the rules for allocating the senate.
Very meta of you. I’d argue that would be illegitimate and that an expressed limitation on the power of amendment cannot itself be changed by amendment without violating the limitation, but with enough progs on the Court anything is possible in practice.
yes, But part of the reason that it is no consensus to re-write it is because the states are stuck. No one can leave if they don’t like what changes are proposed, which means that the risk of changing it is much higher.
That’s a very good point. Although I guess a mechanism for secession could be added by amendment, if it was desired.
Te replies to Matty Y’s original tweet are quite satisfying.
There are a few that make it very clear some people real feel that the judiciary is about promoting political ideology, and not upholding the law, and these people have no problem saying so, though…
He also called her RGB, not RBG.
I blame Alanis Morissette.
Schwab and TD: Ameritrade. I had them when it was still plain ol’ Waterhouse.
RBG: As I said on a late-night thread a couple of days ago, I don’t care if RBG lives or dies, but she needs to give up the car keys.
Uber: I have not researched this (forgot until just now), so take this for what it’s worth. I was talking to my brother about the government overriding Uber’s classification of its drivers from ICs to employees and how wrong it was. Brother said, “Maybe Uber shouldn’t have been taking the drivers’ tips away from them.” Well, then. I just said I didn’t know that and I’d do firther research before twisting my britches further.
Baby vegan: And I thought the lady keeping her pet fox on a vegan diet was awful.
If they turned themselves in voluntarily, did they know they were about to be arrested or did they realize they were the ones who murdered him?
Um … 5, 3, and 1.5 are not school age. Are we mandating preschool now?
@sloopyinca
As if the good ol’ U.S. of A. isn’t in the process of it?
@Rufus: I’m going to work, I promise!
“RBG: As I said on a late-night thread a couple of days ago, I don’t care if RBG lives or dies, but she needs to give up the car keys.”
ORANGE MAN BAD!
/progtard debate reason why not
What is work?
I think it’s a measure of force over time.
But I could be misremembering.
Might be force over distance.
^^This
Work is independent of time, power is measuring work done per unit of time. watts are work watt hours are power.
What is work?
Baby don’t hurt me.
I don’t know if that’s true either but really it’s completely irrelevant to the matter at hand – powerful forces do not want Uber to even exist, regardless of fake concern they show about tipping. Also, customers are perfectly free to tip in cash.
Re: Schwab. I had an account with Scottrade which got taken over by TD Ameritrade. Gotta keep changing the log ins and POD docs, etc. I guess.
Bloomberg is officially in as a Dem candidate. I have no idea what Dem primary voters are thinking, but he sure hates normals in fly-over country. The feeling is mutual.
NPR said this morning that he’s a moderate, appealing to the more sensible Dems.
And then at the end slipped in his gun policy and CLIMATE CHANGE. So moderate.
“He’s square in the middle of where we’d like the acceptable parameters of debate to be.”
The Guardian undertook a review of white nationalist outlets on Facebook amid a debate over the company’s decision to include Breitbart News in Facebook News, a new section of its mobile app dedicated to “high quality” journalism. Facebook has faced significant pressure to reduce the distribution of misinformation on its platform. Critics of Breitbart News object to its inclusion in what Zuckerberg has described as a “trusted source” of information on two fronts: its repeated publication of partisan misinformation and conspiracy theories – and its promotion of extreme rightwing views.
A growing body of evidence shows the influence of white nationalism on Breitbart’s politics. Breitbart’s former executive chairman Steve Bannon called the site “the platform for the alt-right” in 2016. In 2017, BuzzFeed News reported on emails and documents showing how a former Breitbart editor had worked directly with a white nationalist and a neo-Nazi to write and edit an article about the “alt-right” movement.
This month, the SPLC and numerous news organizations have reported on a cache of emails between the senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller and the former Breitbart writer Katie McHugh showing how Miller pushed for coverage and inclusion of white nationalist ideas in the publication. The emails show Miller directing McHugh to read links from VDare and another white nationalist publication, American Renaissance, among other sources. In one case, reported by NBC News, Breitbart ran an anti-immigration op-ed submitted by Miller under the byline “Breitbart News”.
A Breitbart spokeswoman, Elizabeth Moore, said that the outlet “is not now nor has it ever been a platform for the alt-right”. Moore also said McHugh was “a troubled individual” who had been fired for a number of reasons “including lying”.
“Breitbart is the funnel through which VDare’s ideas get out to the public,” said Beirich. “It’s basically a conduit of conspiracy theory and racism into the conservative movement … We don’t list them as a hate group, but to consider them a trusted news source is pandering at best.”
well, if the SPLC says it, that’s good enough for me. You can’t be too careful, where conflicting narratives are concerned.
You would trust that notorious slander factory?
No, but I trust Ilhan Omar
“I hereby announce my resignation.”
its repeated publication of partisan misinformation and conspiracy theories – and its promotion of extreme rightwing views.
Most of the stuff I see on it are quotes and simple descriptions of events.
WOW! If this is true, the left is gonna really fucking lose it. Shiff is gonna drop his pants and show the world his asshole and demand someone give him a kiss right on the brown eye in order to cause the public to tune in to that freakshow of his that is boring everyone.
Approval is one thing, votes are another.
The fact they don’t show up to vote for a democrat is just as bad…..
And counting the votes is a whole ‘nother thing.
It will be interesting to see the Dems turn savagely on the Black voting bloc. The blacks have always been problematic on gay rights, so it will help the Dems get more “pure” by kicking them out. And it will allow the Dems to get back to their eugenic roots of progressivism.
The LBJ would have been off by 150 years.
LBJ was speaking metaphorically since he knew the country would go broke way before then.
We’ve got folk from Napalitano to Schiff saying it’s a solid deal, the evidence is beyond reproach, so why havn’t articles been drafted?
What’s that saying? If you have to constantly affirm the strength of your evidence, it’s probably because it’s weak.
Napalitano to Schiff
I still don’t get Nap on this. Dudes lost it or someone has threatened him.
If you look at an outfit like NR, you get two completely opposite points of view on this. Some of them are Never Trumpers absolutely convinced of “bribery!”. Some of them of are more like “there’s nothing there, are you guys nuts?”.
*shrugs*
Meanwhile everybody knows the House will impeach and the Senate will not convict.
Shiff is gonna drop his pants and show the world his asshole
Like this?
Ewwwwwww…..
When doG put teeth in that mouth He ruined a perfectly good asshole.
Dude.
Which of our Packer Backer Glibs was this?
I won’t include all the quotes from the local LEO’s about how “lucky” everyone was that they were able to nab this guy before he killed hundreds. But to me it seems like the guy is guilty of trespassing at the worst. Fucking pussy cops.
weapons stash
I imagine that my kitchen knife set would qualify here.
I think your kitchen knife set would have been more lethal than a bow that shot snowplow stakes.
We’ve had this discussion, the rest of Wisconsin disowns Milwaukee completely and without reservation.
without reservation
Interesting. Do you think it would be possible to create a new reservation that includes Milwaukee? The BIA might not be thrilled because I’m sure a Milwaukee reservation would drag down the numbers of all the other reservations.
New reservations *cough* casinos *cough* are not cool with the already established groups. Getting new ones approved are difficult.
Alabama fell to 20th in my ranking system. WCU killed them. There are plenty of FCS teams they could have played which wouldnt have hurt them ( and a few that would have given them a small boost). But they scheduled a real bad FCS team instead. And got appropriately drilled for it, IMO.
My general rule of thumb is that if you are going to schedule an FCS team, they should be about as good in FCS as you are in FBS. NDSU would have been appropriate, not WCU.
The Game was an embarrassment for Alabama.
Tries to Hide Utah playing BYU
is your ranking system relevant to anything?
It os the only one that matters to me.
So, yes.
Hypothetical 16 team bracket with my rankings:
FAU @ 1 Ohio St
Georgia @ Oklahoma
App St @ 4 Clemson
Boise St @ Michigan (not a typo this week)
Miami, OH @ 2 LSU
Baylor @ Cincinnati
Florida @ 3 Penn St
Utah @ Notre Dame
Looks decent to me, aside from 2-loss Penn State being ahead of Clemson. Sure their schedule is garbage but they’re destroying people now.
I guess the steroids finally kicked in after that UNC game.
They were flipped to avoid a semifinal rematch, Clemson is 3 in the rankings.
Where are the Golden Rodents?
They are just below PSU and Michigan, but I have a strict 3 team limit per conference.
If they beat Wisconsin, they should jump them both, especially assuming OSU wins.
If the Wolverines win, who knows?
They beat PSU and have one loss vs 2 for both Penn State and TTUN.
Not sure I follow that logic.
I would have to did into exact schedule, but it is SOS related.
Just added in a OSU, PSU, and Minn win next week and Minnesota jumps above Penn St.
Other results could change things, but not enough to change that.
COME LOOK AT THE BIAS INHERENT IN THE SYSTEM!!!!
We beat PSU. Why do we need to beat more teams to be ranked higher than them? Head to head should give us the edge.
Not to mention Penn State has an extra loss.
What strange days are these when fans of The OSU and The U of M agree on something.
The system iterates, good results pull you up, bad results push down to balance points. Some games are neutral, wins against mediocre teams mostly.
Here are details:
Minn has a rating of 3.319. 8 of their games are neutral ( this is an unusually high number), wins that arent good enough yo help, but not teams so bad that it hurts.
They have 2 positive wins: PSU at 4.421 and Illinois at a 3.416, and 1 negative, loss to Iowa at 2.120.
Penn St has 3 neutral games (unusually low). 4 positive games: Michigan at 4.343, Iowa at 4.120, Pitt at 3.510, Mich St at 3.476. 3 negative games, win over bad Idaho at 3.199, losses to Minn at 2.319 and loss to OSU at 2.982.
The math works out, Penn St has better wins. Add on a good win over Wisconsin and Minnesota jumps them.
So South Carolina should be ranked over Georgia? They have the head to head!
NPR said this morning that he’s a moderate, appealing to the more sensible Dems.
And then at the end slipped in his gun policy and CLIMATE CHANGE. So moderate.
Sensible, moderate people do not want to see children slaughtered by the thousands in their classrooms. Nor do they want the earth to die a fiery death due to the selfishness of a bunch of people who have allowed themselves to become dependent of energy-intensive technologies.
Do you?
Actually, that sounds kinda fun. Where’s my school shooter tycoon videogame? I already know where to get the apocalypse games.
You’re so right. Silly me.
The Dems have slid so far left while yelling at Clinton 2 that he’s the most right wing president we’ve ever had.
And they also don’t want anyone to drink a soda either.
Like this?
NOT
COOL.
Today in I hate everyone, especially “journalists”.
Do these people take entire classes on how to insert random, unrelated shit at the end of every article in order to drive their agendas?!
47 out of 320 million.
National. Crisis.
And none of those 47 were killed by actual legal nicotine e-juice. All of them were from THC e-juice laced with vitamin E acetate.
One of the better things that Trump did recently was reverse himself on the e-juice ban.
And none of those 47 were killed by actual legal nicotine e-juice.
Your mixing up the Justification, with the Reason for the moral panic.
See the justification is that it is dangerous. The reason for the moral panic is that flavored juice is appealing to kids.
True enough, but even that’s not a fucking national crisis. Jesus. Vending machines kill a couple dozen people a year.
IKR?
Ban menthols?!?!?!?!
Are they trying to lose the black vote?
Feature, not bug.
They are blaming Newports for causing “black genocide” (seriously). See how easy it is to twist facts around to suit your narrative?
I thought that was the whole point of J-School. Anyone can go out and ask about who, what, where, why, and when, it takes special training to insert one’s agenda into a story while studiously avoiding providing actual information about the headline topic.
“You call that a knoife?”
The Trump admin is now pulling back from this. I heard on the radio his convo with the bureaucrat pushing to ban these things and he was seriously balking.
Meh. Within 5 years there will be dozens of state bans and hundreds of local bans anyway.
That’s preferable though. What does this have to do with the federal government? Nada.
Preferable, yeah. Still bullshit.
Mmmm… Grilled cheese + bacon sammich paired with a creamy tomato bisque; that’s a good breakfast that is.
That sounds nice. I had a ham and cheese sandwich I made last night (intentional since I don’t seem to drag myself out of bed with enough time to do anything but get ready and leave for work)
Its time to get everybody up (the kids are off all week) and get some link sausages and eggs going.
I may even cook up some corned beef hash since this will likely be one of just two meals today.
Frown… NYC schools are only off on Thursday/Friday. Corned beef hash is so very yummy. My mom would always make hash out of leftover pot-roast, steak, corned-beef, etc.. I need to start doing so as well.
I had some overnight oats. They were pretty good.
What is an overnight oat?
200 g of yogurt + 1 package of instant oats + 1 scoop of protein powder. Mix it together the night before, store it in the fridge, eat it in the morning. Looks like hell. Tastes like heaven. Good with fruit or peanuts mixed in, too.
Well you see she puts on her crotchless panties right before bed and you set up the Rube Goldberg dildo/breakfast in bed contraption… y’know, I’ll let Leap explain since I’ll probably leave something out.
Hey, Gun Glibs! Have y’all been following the What Would Stoner Do project? I’ve been quite entertained and I think I really want the final result in carbine form.
Haven’t heard of it.
I want one, but I dread the final price tag, since carbon fiber components will be involved.
What about the process makes carbon fiber so expensive? I know it’s not the final step, because that’s no different from fiberglass.
I honestly don’t know. I do know that it seems to be much less tolerant of manufacturing defects than fiberglass is, so maybe there’s a lot more waste?
Ditto.
I love that their price claim is that it’s less than the top of the line offering from Daniel Defense. Isn’t that still something like $3000?
Money = votes. Everybody knows that.
The billionaire former New York City mayor officially entered the presidential race Sunday, pitching himself as the wealthy white knight for a Democratic Party deeply anxious about its other candidates’ ability to defeat President Donald Trump.
“I know what it takes to beat Trump, because I already have. And I will do it again,” Bloomberg said in his launch email.
Were it not for his immense wealth, estimated at $55 billion, Bloomberg’s late entry would likely be dismissed as of little significance.
——-
Some welcome the development as a needed shakeup to the messy status quo of the 2020 primary.
“I’m all for it. I think he will be good for the Democratic field,” Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, who considered running for president in 2020 himself, said in an email to NBC News.
“He is now the only candidate that has actually done something to impact gun violence. He is the only candidate that has done something to deal with reducing health care costs by helping to keep people healthy via sugar associated taxes,” Cuban said, stopping short of an endorsement. “Adding the substance he brings on these issues is a net positive in my opinion.”
Others noted that Bloomberg’s vast wealth would be a potent weapon against Trump, who is building an unprecedented war chest for next year’s election.
“He’s got what it takes and he’s got the resources to take it to Trump,” Steve Benjamin, the popular mayor of Columbia, South Carolina told the AP. “I believe firmly that Mike Bloomberg can win. I think resources are going to matter.”
But others, including several candidates who have been on the stump for months, accused Bloomberg of trying “buy our elections,” as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders put it.
“This election should not be for sale,” Warren told reporters in New Hampshire on Saturday. “We need to build a grassroots movement, that’s how democracy is supposed to work.”
Not much point in even going through the process. Just put the crown on him.
Also- goddammit, Cuban. Fuck you.
“This election should not be for sale,”
Then explain Democrats outspending Republicans 2 and 3 to 1 in the last few presidential elections.
“We shouldn’t have to spend so much! It should just be ours!”
“A regrettable necessity forced on us by evil Republicans.”
They got their cash from the GOOD people… Unlike the other side that is opposing THEIR agenda…
Life imitates Rick & Morty?
“Diamond thieves steal jewellery ‘worth up to a BILLION EUROS’ from German museum in possibly world’s biggest heist after making off with three ‘priceless’ sets commissioned by 18th century royalty”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7722255/Thieves-steal-treasures-worth-BILLION-EUROS-early-morning-raid-museum-Germany.html
Wistful sigh… I had 3 childhood career dreams: Han Solo, Prosperity Gospel televangelist, or high-end art/jewel thief; it is to my great shame that I’ve done none of those.
I notice a roguish bent to those professions.
The worst part is, pieces like that can’t just be sold on as is, so they’re going to be broken up for the stones, the metal melted down, and never be seen again. The thieves will get only a fraction of that list price and not care.
Indeed. This happens more often than one might think when it comes to antiquities that were in the possession of the Empire of Spain at the time of their misplacement. The current Spanish government feels entitled to completely disregard the laws of salvage and will try to force repatriation* of anything found.
* repatriation is laughable as these items never actually made it to Spain after being stolen from the original owners.
I just watched the Pink Panther (original) again this weekend. Something about the ending never quite sat right with me. It works, it’s just that… in the end Clouseau is just a bumbling idiot that gets the wool pulled over his eyes. There’s nothing particularly remarkable about that.
The original was laughing at Clouseau as opposed to the sequels which were laughing with. A much more mean-spirited movie.
I found a huge plot flaw over the weekend in a movie I love and it’s still nagging at me.
In Grosse Point Blank, Martin is having breakfast when Grocer comes in for a chat. Martin leaves and the following scene is him in his room scrambling to get ready because he’s already late to pick Debbie up for the reunion that starts at 7. What happened the rest of the day? That’s at least 9-10 hours of time they don’t address in a movie that takes place over three days. All while LaPoubelle is hunting him and the CIA agents are all up in his shit. Plus Grocer said at breakfast that they were gonna do the job Blank was sent to do…knowing already it’s Debbie’s dad who is to be hit. And he’s unaware, so he should have been an easy target.
How did I ever not catch that before? I’ve seen that movie more than a dozen times.

Bloomberg has used his vast wealth to nearly single-handedly revitalize the gun control movement, pumping money into groups like Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action, which have helped turn the tide on gun politics after decades of dominance by the National Rifle Association.
He has also funded major efforts to fight climate change and has been a fixture at United Nations climate talks, organizing a coalition of mayors of the world’s largest cities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
He’s also funded campaigns to get cities to hike taxes on sugary drinks, cigarettes, and trans fats— efforts that have earned him praise from public health advocates, but also scorn and mockery from others as a “stereotypically laughable example of a liberal nanny state,” as Time magazine once put it.
That largesse has earned him plenty of goodwill among liberals. But many say Bloomberg is out-of-step today’s Democratic Party even beyond its smash-the-billionaires left flank.
The ultimate limousine liberal. Who doesn’t want that?
I guess Money is okay in politics when its to stop the Money that the NRA has!
Any money that opposes the left’s agenda is bad money and should be gone…
Money that serves the left, even if it comes from child molesters that regularly eat babies, is clean and good money.
Because…
Bloomberg has a very intimate relationship with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He gives Hopkins oodles of money, they promote his public health agenda.
Moms Demand Action
*unzips*
decades of dominance by the National Rifle Association
I’d wager that they spend far less on the issue than opposing groups.
As in, more than an order of magnitude.
I remember reading that the NRA doesn’t even crack the top 50 in money spent on lobbyists.
WLP needs clothes!
OT – reading dead thread the other night – good luck on N5. Nice of them to make it so close to Thanksgiving…
Thanks! I’m not really kidding about the annual part. No way ready for it.
Late Thanksgiving kinda screws with everything. In a way it might work better. Wife will be sick of me home for three days in a row so won’t mind when I’m gone all day Sunday.
I think you’d need to have young and “plastic” brain to get to N1 in roughly 5 or 6 years of study.
I’ve read too many stories of people failing N1 while living in country with native spouses. I believe our very own straff – thought he could wing N1 after living in country for a while and realizing that some serious study was going to be required.
For me studying for the JLPT is an easy way to suck the fun out of studying the language. I’ve had to take far too many professional exams to study for exams in my free time.
That’s a lot of why I’m lackadaisical about it. More of just to see where I am. Luckily I don’t need N-whatever for employment or enrollment.
Heck, the whole thing is a hobby really. Despite joking about electroshock therapy, I find it enjoyable and bit more exercise for the mind besides just watching tv for one night a week.
Another rich politician that hides behind armed security while demanding that the peasants be disarmed.
Fuck Bloomberg with a rusty chainsaw.
Bit difficult to pose as the “moderate” when you’re anything but. Does he have enough money to make reality go away?
He has support from a whole lot of people that have no money but also have no problem actually ignoring reality in favor of whatever fever dream they ascribe to…
Talking stones: Cherokee syllabary in Manitou Cave, Alabama
How would you need a translator for an inscription that is less than 200 years old?
I’m guessing written cherokee is like Esperanto or Interlingua – people claim to know it, but no one actually uses it.
Nah, it gets used in Oklahoma.
I only know a few words from the Boy Scouts, but I’ve seen newspapers and store signage in it in Talequah.
But his successor and longtime critic, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who waged his own ill-fated presidential campaign earlier this year, said Bloomberg’s image as a data-driven management wiz will not hold up to scrutiny.
“I think he’s going to have a whole lot of explaining to do. He is claiming to be a great unifier and great builder, but I can tell you, I have spent six years trying to fix what he broke,” de Blasio said in a phone interview.
He noted Bloomberg opposed raising the minimum wage and vetoed a paid sick leave bill, and said Bloomberg’s response to the Great Recession was to give Goldman Sachs a pep talk, instead of holding them accountable.
“The mythology will not last long,” de Blasio said.
Not commie enough for De Blasio. That’s helpful.
He noted Bloomberg opposed raising the minimum wage and vetoed a paid sick leave bill, and said Bloomberg’s response to the Great Recession was to give Goldman Sachs a pep talk, instead of holding them accountable.
I hate Goldman Sachs as much as the next guy, but what was Bloomberg supposed to do?
“Bloomberg opposed raising the minimum wage and vetoed a paid sick leave bill”
Huh. So, not a complete tool.
He’s somewhat partial to his original customer base.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Will there be any navel gazing pieces by various journalos that wonder if Bloomberg is being taken seriously only because the media bosses want them some of his money?
You can’t tell me that the media owners don’t need a drip bucket when they see Bloomberg dropping $31M in one ad buy with the potential to spend a lot more in the future.
I hate Goldman Sachs as much as the next guy, but what was Bloomberg supposed to do?
Round them up and jail them. And confiscate all their stuff. Why let a few piddly jurisdictional issues stand in the way of social justice?
Think how much good the mayor of New York could do if he were only willing to go the extra mile.
Notably, DeBlasio hasn’t done much in that line, either. And it’s not like a statute of limitations would have stopped him when he first took office.
New York is Detroit plus a financial services industry. DeBlasio can pretend otherwise all he wants. But, the city would be destroyed if he ever actually acted on his ravings.
Well, those fuckers did walk away with shit tons of taxpayer money and we didn’t even get the courtesy of a perp walk.
Privatized upside and socialized downside.
It’s the way of Wall St. You’ll note until a certain senator came onto the national stage most senior Wall St. execs play exclusively for Team Blue.
Savage.
So is that link
what is this xhttps protocol? Sounds kinky
Who knows? I grabbed it from Powerline.
Try this.
I look forward to that cartoonists impending suicide.
I’m betting it’s just some ‘Shopped type on an existing drawing.
Ghislaine Maxwell is ‘set to come out of hiding and speak to the FBI about her connection to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’
I think there is a difference between pedos who want per-pubescent kids and people who chase 15 – 17 year-old “jailbait”. Epstiean, Clinton, and the Prince seem to fall into the later category of statutory rapists.
The latter isnt technically pedophilia.
15-17 year old jailbait would technically be ephebophilia. Which is, strictly speaking, legal but creepy in most jurisdictions. Attraction to young pubescent kids would be hebephilia, with pedophilia being reserved for the diddlers of prepubescent kids.
Huh. So, not a complete tool.
TOOL OF TEH PLOOOTACRATZ!
Tony Blair haz a sad
Former prime minister Tony Blair said on Monday that Britain was in a dangerous mess and that neither his own Labour Party nor Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservatives deserved to win a Dec. 12 election.
——-
“We’re a mess,” Blair said at a Reuters Newsmaker event. “The buoyancy of the world economy has kept us going up to now, but should that falter, we will be in deep trouble.”
Blair, Labour prime minister from 1997 to 2007, said both major parties were peddling fantasies, adding that if the opinion polls were accurate, Johnson’s party looked likely to win a majority.
Blair, the only Labour leader to win three elections, said his party was now controlled by its “Marxist-Leninist wing” and that its leader Jeremy Corbyn was promising a revolution.
“The problem with revolutions is never how they begin but how they end,” said Blair. “The problem with revolutions is that they always end badly.”
“The truth is: the public aren’t convinced either main party deserves to win this election outright.”
——-
Blair, an opponent of Brexit, argued for a second referendum on the decision to leave, saying it would need to be followed by another general election.
Where are the sensible British moderates? Tony Blair wants to know.
Dead for at least two hundred years, if not more.
Blair, an opponent of Brexit, argued for a second referendum on the decision to leave, saying it would need to be followed by another general election.
So, if the idiot plebes voted to leave again, there’d at least be an opportunity to vote the right people in to stymie their deranged fantasies.
He’s not completely wrong. The so-called neoliberal consensus of which he was arguably one of the poster children has evaporated. It might be worthwhile for those nostalgic for its return to contemplate what might have turned off huge swaths of the electorate from their ideology.
Bloomberg may as well be a Republican plant. He stands no chance of winning over the extra-chromosome wing of the party; in spite of his gun-grabbing and control freak obsessions, he’s rich, he’s white and he (sort of) believes in capitalism. He’s dead in the water. All he’s going to do is split the milquetoast soccer mom/whatever’s left of the “moderates” vote with Biden.
I’m still calling Warren/Buttglug.
Warren has been falling fast in the polls since she released her ridiculous health care plan. You’re not supposed to actually present it, because then people realize how stupid it is. Simply promise all things.
I still think Biden, and likely Biden/Harris. Set aside the people who’ve basically already decided how they’re going to vote and when you get outside of the Wonkery Biden looks like an experienced politician (to people who think that’s a good thing) and Harris gets you the PoC vote and the “tough on crime” vote.
OT: I got caught in a YouTube Iron Maiden cycle from the sidebar of Sloopy’s music link. Iron Maiden is the best metal band of all time. Proof? They wrote a song called Alexander the Great. It’s about Alexander the Great. It’s Bruce Dickinson singing a very brief history of Alexander’s conquests, with lines such as, “The Scythians fell by the river Jaxartes”, and it’s actually a really good song. Plus, you can be making metal face and nodding your head while singing, “Alexander the grrreeaaattt…His name struck feah into haahhhts of meeennn…”
Biden is the one that actually polls like he has a chance to beat Trump. The DNC is going to steer everything towards him, despite how dull and uninspiring he is.
Their entire Trump impeachment theater implicates Biden in some things they really don’t want the public getting hammered with during the election cycle, and Ukraine has already indicted Zlochevsky — Hunter Biden’s card might get punched before election day 2020. Along with his backpeddling on legalizing dope and his inability to restrain his Uncle Creepy tendencies whenever he’s around women and children, I don’t see him getting the nod.
Keep in mind that Democratic primary voters are utterly incidental to the nomination process. Whoever the moneyed interests decide is going to be the nominee, is going to be the nominee. That’s pointing toward Warren, I think, although I wouldn’t be shocked if Bloomberg swayed a bunch of them as well.
The Media Interests want Warren, I’m not so sure about the moneied interests.
They want her, but also Warren is one that Trump polls really well against. Nominate Warren and there is a very finite chance you have another huge embarrassment next election.
But yeah. Prominent big money Democrats have already come out against Warren. Because she’s fucking nuts.
I think the moneyed interests are dead set against her. She’s not much better than Sanders in “eat the rich” terms.
She mouths the platitudes, but I don’t think she believes a word of it and wouldn’t have any real problem being handled. Bernie’s a true believer — the archetypal useful idiot. In that regard I suspect she can schmooze the donors in closed door meetings in a way that the actual zealots cannot. There’s nobody running on the D side this time that’s even within the county limits of sanity though, so it’s hard to tell.
In that regard I suspect she can schmooze the donors in closed door meetings in a way that the actual zealots cannot.
In which case she better hope they’re all on board, or else she gets a clandestine recording of her duplicity. c.f. Romney’s “47%” gaffe.
It sure looks like they’re doing that already. Unless the DNC has changed dramatically in recent years they’ve already started conversations in the background about, “Hey, Liz, why don’t you keep doing what you do, but just make sure you don’t go after Joe too much, ok? And maybe you could throw in some nice things about how you both agree there’s a problem with X and you look forward to working together and so forth, you know, because there are gonna be some cabinet positions open and we’d really love to see you in the administration.”
I find Biden just unbelievably painful to listen to, and I can’t be the only one. Like more than Obama and Trump put together.
I’ll be honest here that I also find Trump really unbelievably painful to listen to. And Obama. He was like such a disappointed dad all the time. And George W. Bush.
Actually I kinda hate most politicians now that I think about it. They should fuck off.
You’re right of course. There’s just something about Biden’s fake folksiness and tuff-gai act that’s even more nauseating to me.
I enjoy Biden’s angry tough guy schtick.
“Get off… uhh.. my… um.. lawn.”
Last bit of shilling for the NY 2×4 multigun format until spring…
It’s my new favorite sport and I took second (of ten in my division,) 10th out of 22 overall. I competed in “the poors” “Standard”. I’m planning to never leave that division in order to prevent myself from spending money on optcs, compensators, and various gewjaws which will allow me to spend more money on firearms and safes.
I hope some glibs join me next year.
what is 2×4 multi? and i assume that’s pronounced GOO•JAWZ
You bring two to four guns to the match, (up to) one each in the categories of pistol, pistol caliber carbine, rifle, and shotgun. Each stage you pick two of those guns to shoot the stage. Each stage is set up so that any combination of two guns can be used, and each stage requires a minimum number of shots to be taken by either of the guns. There are some restrictions on what can be shot during which parts of the stage — targets that are scored by the best two shots on paper (and the shot holes get pasted over for the next shooter) will disallow shotgun usage, close steel targets will disallow rifles for safety and target damage reasons.
It’s a good format for NYS, since it’s a “may issue state,” not everyone is allowed to own a pistol. And becaause of the stupid SAFE act, many modern rifles (like mine) are completely useless for competition. But everyone should be able to cobble together a competition set out of commonly available/legal guns.

New York is Detroit plus a financial services industry.
Based on my extremely cursory understanding, New York’s finances are almost completely dependent on the financial services industry.
Yeah. That’s my understanding as well. You take away financial services, and NYC is a basket case on par with Detroit. It isn’t just the direct effects of the industry. But, you take away financial services, and the city becomes a much less relevant media center. And all the businesses catering to bankers flush from the market go away.
Shipping too, though, right? I haven’t checked the numbers but I believe NYC is still one of if not the biggest Atlantic port in the US in terms of volume and dollar amount.
The atlantic seaboard has a plethora of good harbors and port facilities. There is nothing particularly special beyond the fact that once upon a time there was manufacturing up the Hudson river and Erie canal. Now that that is gone, the port is there through inertia and the existance of a market at the port.
Send NYC down Detroit road, and there’s no reason not to shift activity to another port.
All of the shipping business is in NJ now.
There are other important industries like show business and apparel, but I agree that the financial industry is crucial.
Hasn’t a large portion of the financial industry’s back-end already moved to NJ because of rent and utility prices in NYC?
Yes. I don’t know the numbers or anything.
Yep – Some also to PA – north of Philly. I thought BNY Mellon would wind down things in Pittsburgh, now it seems like they are moving more operations there and to Florida.
Does NY get a cut from their slice of the Port Authority?
No idea. I can’t imagine them deserving of anything since there is literally zero shipping going on in NYC or NYS (except some vestiges in Brooklyn which receive local goods).
There are other important industries like show business and apparel…
True. But, I think that if you take away the big paydays from the financial industry, NY is a lot less of center for those businesses. It makes sense for fashion houses to have a big presence in NY. Because they have a ready customer base there. A lot of that customer base is getting their money, either directly or indirectly, out of financial services.
My understanding is that very little of it is New York, proper. Most of the business is going through Newark. That’s still the same Port Authority
The Evidence That Trump Abused His Powers Is Clear and Convincing
If Donald Trump were a Democrat (as he was from 2001 to 2009), we can be sure that Republicans would be pouncing on the allegations against him instead of blithely dismissing them. Conversely, Democrats would be doing what the Republicans are doing, resorting to increasingly desperate defenses of their guy. For anyone who does not feel at home in either major party, these reflexive reactions are as mystifying as the passion of baseball or football fanatics is to people who take no interest in professional sports. And given the weird hodgepodge of policy positions that passes for ideology in both parties, this political tribalism is not much more meaningful.
The last time the House of Representatives impeached a president, just five Democrats voted for the two articles that were sent to the Senate, where five Republicans joined all 45 Democrats in voting to acquit Bill Clinton on one article (obstruction of justice) and 10 Republicans joined the Democrats in voting against the other article (lying to a grand jury). This time around, we can expect even fewer legislators to cross the party line, despite the fact that the charges against Trump are more clearly related to his duties as president.
Is that because the evidence against Trump is weaker than the evidence against Clinton? In some respects, it is. But it is hard to take Trump’s defenders seriously when they insist not only that his conduct does not warrant impeachment but that he did absolutely nothing wrong.
Well that settles it. Arrest him. Drag him out of the White House and into a jail cell. He’ll need security though. Get those boys that were responsible for watching Epstein (who didn’t kill himself…).
I actually agree that Republicans would be doing exactly what Democrats are doing, but that isn’t a convincing argument.
After watching them twiddle their thumbs through the entire Obama presidency you think they’d actually attempt an impeachment over pressuring a foreign government to investigate a political opponent’s crooked son? Obama’s hot mic incident with Medvedev was stronger grounds for impeachment than this. They learned their lesson with Clinton.
Not necessarily, but they’d be bitching about it for sure non-stop.
I’m still not sure the Democrats are truly going to “attempt impeachment”. Perhaps they are that stupid though.
I’d be fine with dragging orangeman out of the White House kicking and screaming if they held the rest of the government kleptocrats to account as well.
But since that will never happen, they can pound sand. With a massive helping of luck I will get to watch DC burn itself to the ground.
Used to be we needed the redcoats to burn DC for us.
yeah maybe. and if the Dems weren’t so nuts against guns and capitalism, then maybe impeachment would be an option.
The “evidence” is testimony from people with obvious biases, in some cases testimony that was changed after the testimony of others in order to fall in line with the latest narrative of Trump issuing a quid pro quo (but not really, apparently…sort of like a penaltax) in order to get Ukraine to heinously and diabolically investigate allegations of tampering with the servers of an American political party and the potential corruption of the son of an American vice president who himself bragged in public about withholding aid to Ukraine pending their firing of a prosecutor investigating the company of which board the son was a member. So far, the only people who are saying there was a quid pro quo are three or more parties removed from the recorded conversation.
Reason fucking magazine, man. One of the senior writers for the libertarian flagship is supporting hearsay testimony from career bureaucrats and bitter political appointees. The TDS is so, so real.
And I’d just like to say that getting hung up on how this benefits Trump politically is kind of missing the forest for the trees. If Biden committed a crime, should that be ignored because busting him on it might benefit Trump? If Donald Trump drops a video of Joe Biden banging some underage girl in a hotel room does the headline read, “Trump Times Release of Video for Upcoming Re-election Campaign”.
Don’t be silly. The headline reads “Trump Campaign Distributes Child Porn.”
It’s like you work for CNN or something.
Republicans pounce!
The funny thing to me is I don’t get why a quid pro quo wouldn’t be allowed anyway. Nobody with an IQ over 65 could think there wasn’t some corruption going on there in the Ukraine and the Biden.
I have no doubt it benefits Trump politically. As does every single other action any politician takes that his constituency wants.
Diplomacy is basically a nice way of saying “quid pro quo”.
If it was some other politician who was nowhere near a presidential campaign and the president had some reason to believe some foreign corruption was going on, or that the politician had engaged in some sort of skulduggery, nobody would bat an eye. Shit, Biden’s bragging about doing exactly what Trump’s being accused of with an even more direct and greater conflict of interest.
Coaching sure is different than it used to be.
I’m not one of those “kids today” type people but….
Curiously not listed was “threatened to replace them with male walk-ons that identify as female.”
*snort*
That IS a thinly-veiled way of saying “kids today”.
schools and educators are re-examining their approach to mental health
I think I might see where part of the problem is…
Coaching has changed though. My dad and I had a conversation about this recently. He’s coached since the 80s and his approach has changed dramatically.
He seems to think it has more to do with specialization among athletes. Lots of kids in the 80s and 90s played two or three sports. Now most play one year-round. (Which also leads to more injuries.)
The other is that athletics are competing for kids attention with other things like computer gaming. He had a stud basketball player last year who recently told him he won’t be playing this season because he wants to focus on his e-sports career where he’s already earning tens of thousands of dollars a year as a 17 year old kid.
I find it utterly offensive that hurt feelings are now equated with mental health disorders, in the same way and for the same reason as I find it utterly offensive to equate catcalling with rape. It diminishes the suffering of people genuinely deserving of sympathy and support and makes people calloused to it.
while i agree, I think there is an argument to be made that being so sensitive as to claim hurt feelings are causing mental health issues is itself a sign of some sort of mental health issue. Not necessarily a disease, but in the same way as hurting your back lifting can be a sign of bad form and a weak back.
Perhaps in some roundabout way, but even that is of an entirely different nature and character than the homeless schizophrenic, or the obsessive-compulsive whose rituals have overtaken their life to such an extent that they can’t work, or even the depressive for whom every day is a new struggle against suicide. I know we aren’t allowed to say such things nowadays, but some things really are just simple character flaws and not mental illnesses.
This. There is a difference between Mental Illness and being Mentally weak. I think my comment started out as a joke and ended up being serious. people who constantly whine about being offended are mentally weak.
I have a friend who was a college swim coach who was run out of a job for, basically, being too “mean.” The team rebelled against him.
Let me guess: The team is full of a bunch of kids who rarely win -or- its a Big Fish little pond team and the kids are fine with resting on their laurels.
He left me with the impression that the team members were fine with working, but not too hard.
The only one really over the line is the last one. And that’s not a trivial one, either.
A story of mixed results: More polio cases now caused by vaccine than by wild virus. The main thrust of the story is good news, because the fact that more cases are caused by the vaccine than occur in the wild indicate that the disease is nearly eradicated. The bad news of course is that it will be more difficult to finish the job if the current vaccines are causing problems. Note for those who don’t read the article: the polio vaccine in use in the developing world is a much cheaper and easier to administer type that is also much less safe than the types used in the developed world.
Huh… I thought the polio vaccine was a dead virus.
The expensive, more difficult to administer type (used in the developed world) is dead. The cheaper, easier to use vaccine is apparently a live virus.
Things to not go cheap on….
It’s only the effective deployment of the cheap solution that reduced the wild infections to the point where the cheap vaccine’s shortcomings are becoming a problem.
Last night, when that Green Bay player pulled up his jersey to reveal a message, my first thought was, “I hope that says, EPSTEIN DIDN’T KILL HIMSELF.”
Shit, I did the same thing…
Missed that. What did it say?
Soccer leagues typically ban that shit. Rightfully, IMHO.
It’s technically a “foul” (?) in the NFL to have your clothes unkempt and untucked
Yeah, sure. It was probably a hoax. Anyone with two firing neurons already knew it as soon as the whole fiasco surfaced. I will be genuinely surprised when they report one of these that is not a hoax. Of course, the dnc operatives with bylines will not be doing said reporting, because the even will not only fit the narrative, but likely be abuse of those the left considers to be enemies. The number of articles I have read – most with video evidence – of non-leftists getting harassed, and even attacked, not a single one reported by your usual dnc ops with bylines, I add, has been quite large.
Free menstrual products are a “fundamental right”. Never mind that they’ve already been available for free from the office for those who don’t plan ahead
https://www.klcc.org/post/4j-school-board-approves-free-menstrual-products-bathrooms
In a just world, Violet Neal would have her history and civics classes changed to F’s and be held back another year until she demonstrates an understanding of what fundamental rights are and are not.
In a sane world, this extracurricular activity would ban you from going to any college (with the exception maybe of Evergreen or Oberlin).
Also, they are only going to put those menstrual products in the women’s and gender neutral bathrooms. What an outrage! What about the dozens upon dozens of Men who have periods and use the Men’s room?
I shudder to think of what trouble a young shitlord like me would get into today. I know that a young me would have thought it hilariously funny to start the Minnesoda Nocturnal Emission Chapter just to mock these jerks.
they were too embarrassed to ask the front office.. fundamental right..
sorry, but my brain can’t reconcile what’s happening in this story.
What the fuck? Don’t they know?
Yes, Men Can Have Periods and We Need to Talk About Them
No they can’t and no we don’t.
Another thing, why isn’t the school district providing free clothing for free bleeders? Only the patriarchy would demand that women keep their holy fluids bottled up.
Missed that. What did it say?
“We love [somebody]”
I think it was for a family member of somebody on the GB staff who’s sick.
Ah. I was expecting something about Jesus or Trump.
That’s fairly classy.
I’d be fine with dragging orangeman out of the White House kicking and screaming if they held the rest of the government kleptocrats to account as well.
I guess i missed all those times when Reason was calling for Obama’s impeachment on principled abuse-of-authority grounds.
I think there is an argument to be made that being so sensitive as to claim hurt feelings are causing mental health issues is itself a sign of some sort of mental health issue. Not necessarily a disease, but in the same way as hurting your back lifting can be a sign of bad form and a weak back.
Resistance training. It’s good for your back, it’s good for your feelz.
There’s a reason my mother told me (dozens, if not hundreds, of times) “sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you.”
Hasn’t a large portion of the financial industry’s back-end already moved to NJ because of rent and utility prices in NYC?
Goldman Sachs has a significant operation in Salt Lake City.
^^^ This. Basically every Econ student who graduates from the University of Utah ends up working for them.
My wife is a Goldman managing director and we live in North Texas now. Originally we lived in NYC.
The actual finance people mostly still live in NY still though.
Nobody with an IQ over 65 could think there wasn’t some corruption going on there in the Ukraine and the Biden.
And this, to me, is the beginning, middle, and end of the story. You had the son of a sitting Vice President and the son of a sitting Secretary of State in a business partnership with the nephew of one of the country’s most notorious gangsters doing deals with foreign government connected enterprises while their fathers were doing state business with those very governments. Making the story of wrongdoing out of that the fact that somebody else, even someone who would benefit from that information being publicized, asking about the arrangement is utterly absurd.
I’ll make a deal with the Reason folks. I’ll support Trump’s impeachment, if they issue a call to have Biden, Kerry, and their useless spawn thrown into the Patomac in a burlap sack with a few rabid pit bulls.
What did the pit bulls do to deserve that?
That’s why I said rabid pit bulls. They’re going to die anyway. Give them a less painful death and give them an opportunity to make a great contribution.
Awesome!
82-year-old female bodybuilder beats down home intruder
Well, now I’ll have more time to glib until I find a new job.
Something happen to the old one?
+1
Yeah, I told management how shitty they were at their jobs. Some people don’t respond well to criticism.
Well, good luck in your search. I’m afraid we’re too far along in the process for you to be consitered for the job I’m running interviews for. Not that I get a great deal of discretion with the way we have to go through it.
Can’t you just get your job back with a couple cases of beer and a few pounds of curds?
Sorry about the job. Hope a new one comes along soon.
busybody asshole Carrie Nation…
For some reason, every time I hear that name I immediately think of Elizabeth Warren. And vice-versa.
I mean, I do see a resemblance:
