I suppose I could have said Friday and nobody would have really noticed since most of you are looking at the end of the work week. But it’s still Wednesday and I like to keep things simple. Â Like Stephen F Austin did last night in beating Duke at Cameron. That. Was. Awe-some! elsewhere on the basketball court, Kansas, Michigan State, Auburn, Colorado and Dayton were big winners.
In hockey, your winners were Boston (who routed the Habs), Chicago, and THE MINNESOOOOOOOOOOODA WIIIIIIIIIIIILD!!!!!!! Man, I love posting that for our frozen fans from Minn-NoDak. Â Oh, and across the pond, your UCL results of note were Juventus over Athletico, Real drawing PSG, Man City drawing Shaktar, Spuds winning and Bayern quietly thumping everybody they play. Some good matches on tap today, with Liverpool-Napoli topping the list. Enjoy it, those of you already checked out for the week (like me!).
Thermometer meddler Anders Celsius was born on this day. Â So were kung-fu legend Bruce Lee, guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, non-scientist Bill Nye, and actor Curtis Armstrong. There were others as well, but none I felt like mentioning.
Alright, on to…the links!

I heard that character played by Doogie Howser in those Harold and Kumar movies was based on Hunter Biden. At least when it comes to the booze, blow, and having to pay for the bitchez.
I canât imagine how tough life is for these kids. No, seriously. I canât imagine it at all.

With the parents. Can you call fuckwads that produce these sorts of quislings parents? It’s obvious they failed miserably at that task.
Funny you say that, seeing as many of the Dem candidates are calling for a mandatory “public service” term for young people.
They should make the Incel Satisfaction Corps. to prevent violence
To be properly prepared they will have these instructional camps to, erm, teach these kids how to believe and behave…. Those that fail will be sent to other more advanced camps with signs that say “Arbeit Macht Frei” or whatever the Soviet equivalent was over the gates, I am sure.

Imagine thinking food isn’t a human right. Like, what the heck did we build civilization for then? Why did we bother industrializing agriculture? So we could make enough food for everyone only to let people starve anyway?

Do men and women lose weight differently?
Fortunately all of these biological differences disappear when a guy on estrogen takes to the field of sport.
But female fat is generally healthier as it is more subcutaneous and less visceral.
I knew a girl in high-school who worked hard all summer to lose weight, she was happy everyone was complementing her, until one guy said something hey you look different. I know you tits got smaller.
Once, as a young manager in an engineering firm I had two employees, one female and one male in my office.
Female employee: “I’ll be needing sometime off. I’m pregnant.”
Male employee: “I knew it! I knew your tits were bigger!”
Me: “I’m going to pretend I never heard that and I’m going to beg you to not to file an HR complaint.”
I have a recently pregnant friend who was happy at the point of pregnancy when her tits were bigger but her belly was not to visible.
She was able to pick up nicer looking dudes?
When Marvel’s Age of Ultron came out, I asked the kids if Scarlett Johannsen was pregnant. Turns out she was. One of the daughters asked me how I knew, since I’m notoriously disinterested in the personal lives of Hollywood types.
But Scarlett Johannsen’s tits are something I am interested in, and they were clearly bigger.
Experience is a good teacher
Experiences vary. My sister was quite flat (A cup) and then got preggers. Yeah, they grew, but after nursing two kids they flattened back out and resembled 2 fried eggs hanging on a nail.
When her first marriage broke up (his fault entirely, BTW) she insisted on their joint paying for a boob job for her.
Looks nice, C cup, but after having lived with her for 19 years, it still strikes me as out of place on her.
Did you share your wisdom with the daughter? Your post is unclear if you did….
I did. My kids are all adults.
My kids are adults but not grown up (yet)
They never really do.
I haven’t.
Did industrialization lift all boats? I spent yesterday cleaning and harmonizing data on 10,000 Swedish convicts to shed some light on how disadvantaged groups fared during the Industrial Revolution. (1/9)
https://twitter.com/bergerthor/status/1198893751168573440
In today’s news, progress occurs unevenly across different populations.
Did industrialization help the 10,000 criminals? Huh? Huh? Did you stop to think about how it might have affected those poor souls who just don’t want to live by the rules of non-violent society?
That is not the point. The criminals are a proxy for lower class people in a time when accurate records for them are not kept. No need to get snarky about everything.
It don’t hurt to do historical analysis once in a while
It seems like some extremely broad extrapolations were made based on a somewhat limited set of data, on a variable that itself is by no means a perfect measure of prosperity.
True. Still. Its in one piece of data
It’s definitely interesting. I fear it may morph from an interesting but limited examination into somebody’s eventual PhD and academic career though, as these things so often do.
They had something to prove, and found the data to prove it. That’s what this sounds like to me….
Because they were to busy, you know farming, to commit crimes?

The Guardian rides to the rescue of democracy yet again
You know what else just screams democracy? A presidential candidate owning an eponymous and influential news service that has been barred from criticising him. On Sunday, the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News sent a memo to the companyâs 2,700 journalists telling them they were not to do any investigative stories on Bloombergâs campaign. While Bloomberg outlets will cover the day-to-day of the presidential contest, they will not be conducting in-depth investigations into their boss. Nor will they investigate his Democratic rivals. They will, however, continue to engage in journalism vis-a-vis Trumpâs campaign.
It is astounding that a mainstream news organisation has effectively said it will scrutinise Trump but give the Democratic contenders an easy ride. Itâs also one of the best things that could have happened to Americaâs incompetent incumbent. It plays right into Trumpâs narrative that the crooked mainstream media are out to get him and I imagine he will milk this for all itâs worth.
They will, however, continue to engage in journalism vis-a-vis Trumpâs campaign. You say journalism, I say smear campaign, but let’s not quibble. They said it explicitly. It’s their sacred duty to save us from Trump, by hook or by crook.
“Trump, without evidence, claims coverage is one-sided and biased against him.”
Christ, even Bezos doesn’t do that shit.
Because Bloomberg is the worst kind of millionare, not only is he rich and powerful, he is insecure.
He’s a gnome.
Oh, I suppose you’re going to try to make something out of THIS!

Lots of the ESPN guys are saying “Alabama is just a placeholder” for a PAC12 or BIG 12 champion to beat but i’m not sure i buy that. I know the committe says it doesn’t “Project” but it makes no sense to have someone be a known placeholder. At least Georgia could ostensibly hold that position if they beat LSU. Alabama, according to the pundits, has no way of maintaining their spot, so then why give it to them in the first place? No i think the year will end with Alabama either in that spot or in #4 when Georgia looses to LSU.
I’ll say one thing that suprised people (though not me so much) was how far Oregon fell. Personally i think it was kinda deserved. They were supposed to be the #1 Team in the PAC 12, and to have ASU come and stomp them was embarrassing and tragic.
It’s like stock-pricing: the latest trades are emotional and no reflection of underlying financials.
So it’s over-shooting in both directions: they’re seldom as good as folk think( OverRated!!); they’re seldom as bad as folk think. Most of the voters would have lost it all in tulip bulbs. It’s homerism and confirmation bias all the way down.
I’ll change my thoughts on Bama if they happen to beat somebody with a pulse this year. Until then, they should be squarely on the outside looking in.
As well you might
I’m just characterizing the sociology in play . . . of voters. It’s mostly like your apt characterization of identity politics yesterday.
I’m on record (yesterday): Bama’s not in any final four that makes sense to me.
The committee finally made a statement about SEC schools playing shitbags the next to last week of the season.
And I do think Bama is a placeholder. They deliberately moved the Big 12 and PAC 12 schools closer so they could move them up ahead of Bama after the last “data points” happen with the CCGs.
Bama has to hope LSU beats UGA, Oregon wins the PAC 12, Oklahoma loses this week and then beats Baylor again. And hope OSU doesn’t beat TTUN and then lose to Minnesota.
OSU could beat both of those teams with an 11 player roster. Partially because they are the real deal and partially because the Harbaughs are overrated and the Gophers play in the JV division.
I’m trying to maintain my confidence and worry about the game. It’s been tough. We look to be that much better than TTUN based on results against quality same opponents.
And Day seems to get it when it comes to that rivalry’s importance.

There has been a lot of noise recently about how big techâs untrammeled power and unethical practices represent an existential danger to our democracy. While that criticism is certainly valid, there may have been rather too much scapegoating of Facebook et al and not enough scrutiny of traditional media. If we want a truly independent press, we are going to have to do something about the fact that a small number of billionaires own a worryingly large chunk of the media landscape. There are the old media moguls such as Rupert Murdoch, of course, but thereâs also a new wave of billionaires busily buying up news companies â often in the name of philanthropy. Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post. Biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong owns the LA Times. The founder of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, owns Time magazine. Laurene Powell Jobs, Steve Jobâs ex-wife, controls 70% of the Atlantic. Boston billionaire John Henry owns â alongside Liverpool FC â the Boston Globe. The entrepreneur Joe Manuseto bought the Fast Company and Inc magazines. These billionaires may profess to having the most benevolent of intentions but, as weâre seeing with Bloomberg, that doesnât prevent them from having a scary amount of influence.
What we need is a printing press in every garage, to give a voice to the little guy.
What’s that, you say? Hundreds, if not thousands of new voices have been given a platform and a means of disseminating information and opinion by the internet? Those people are all crazy bigots, and we must do everything in our power to silence them.
There has been a lot of noise recently about how big techâs untrammeled power and unethical practices represent an existential danger to our democracy
Because people will read what they want? You know before the Internet there were only newspapers, and people had to read the hard truth. Never were there competing newspapers publishing their own versions of the truth, the good people wouldn’t stand for it.
If we want a truly independent press, we are going to have to do something about the fact that a small number of billionaires own a worryingly large chunk of the media landscape.
Funny how these fuckers always know the solution but never put their money where their mouth is and open competing ventures.
Hmmm, remember these charts?
Bloomberg saying that his media operation can only publish negative things about Trump is fine, right? I mean, that is only right.
“For instance, hereâs an interview with one of the few doctors in the U.S. who performs abortions in the last three months of pregnancy, in which she says, âa large percentage of our patients had no idea that they were pregnant.â Hereâs more from her comments:
They think they just got pregnant. They have no idea theyâre in their 24th week. So they make an appointment for an abortion, and it takes a few weeks, and they have their ultrasound and find out that theyâre at 27 weeks, which is too far for an abortion anywhere. So then what happens? They either give up or have a baby, or they go on the Internet and they find us.”

At a press conference in London, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said he had a 451-page dossier showing initial talks had taken place on drug prices and the NHS.
He warned it showed the future of the health service was at risk.
——-
Labour has been given uncensored government documents covering six rounds of negotiations – preparatory meetings ahead of formal trade talks – in Washington and London between July 2017 and July 2019.
These documents appear to provide more detail about the meetings Channel 4’s Dispatches programme reported on earlier this year.
They show the US is interested in discussing drug pricing – mainly, extending patents that stop cheaper generic medicines being used.
The US currently pays two and a half times more for drugs than the NHS does.
One document quotes a UK official saying the talks are helpful in determining the areas the US may want to discuss, while acknowledging the UK would have objections.
As well as the pharmaceutical industry, the talks also covered other areas including agriculture and climate change.
So the Americans pointed out that America subsidizes drug prices for the rest of the world. How tiresome. So selfish.
We also subsidize all the medical research that makes the drugs they’re taking possible in the first place.
The FDA is working tirelessly to change that.
Well, to be fair the FDA is fine with the subsidy part, they just object to the part where usable products result.
He warned it showed the future of the health service was at risk.
No word on the brightening prospects for the health of those in Britain.
I gave up on them when the guy who was complaining about having to stitch his own lacerations because the NHS was too slow to treat them thought that “Some people don’t have $66” was a valid reply to the inexpensiveness of x-rays in private healthcare. ($66 being my total billed amount for finding out if I’d broken a toe – which I hadn’t)
SLD and whatnot, there is something a little satisfying about the Idea of the US telling the european social states to fuck off and start paying for some things that they have been taking advantage of… If we’re gonna be the Hegemony, it doesn’t make sense to not at least extract tribute from the vassal states.

Thatâs why I hope he does testify, or that he does have his secretary of State or acting OMB director â or chief of staff, excuse me, testify. I havenât seen any evidence that gives the presidentâs side or that explains his conduct as anything other than inappropriate. From what Iâve heard publicly and privately, I donât think there will be the votes to remove him if this does come to an impeachment trial in the Senate, and to me, thatâs disheartening. Because it removes guardrails on presidential misconduct.â
So far, I haven’t seen any that is incriminating.
GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT!
Ahem.
GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!
GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN UNWOKE!! Then MOAR GUILTY!!
I have, but it’s like a cop pulling over the cast from a Mad Max movie and accusing them of speeding. Fuck the undeclared wars, let’s talk about the proper way to conduct diplomacy.
That would imply the other team was guilty, too. Can’t have that, can we?
I am sticking to the current paradigm where that stuff doesn’t matter if there is a ‘D’ next to one’s name. Hell, they tried to roast Trump for contemplating removing ourselves from illegal wars that he didn’t start.
Young grievance professional is aggrieved when people react to her nonsense appropriately.
‘As I was being introduced, they said ‘she’s been researching sexual harassment in archaeology’, to which a large group of older men laughed. Fully laughed – to the point that the presenter had to say ‘it isn’t funny’.
Clearly it was funny to some, what you mean is “I don’t think it’s funny”
“I’m 21 years old and I’m here to set you old fuckers straight.”
It’s just pure arrogance. It would be different if she had actual experience in the field.
‘Even if you take out the subject matter, imagine being 21, just out of undergrad, shortlisted for your first research award and… a group of people decide its acceptable to publicly *laugh* at that research.
1. I don’t think you can remove the subject matter and get full context of why people were laughing.
2. Science is a discipline where you have to convince people who disagree with you. If you can’t handle being laughed at you are going to have a hard time. Hate to tell you but no scientific finding can stand on its own. It must be argued for and fought for. The idea that “the truth will just win out” without anyone taking heat for being unpopular is silly. Nothing worthwhile was ever easy.
I remember being 21. I knew it all and was bullet-proof.
Not that I’m older, I realize how much I didn’t (and still don’t) know.
Did you also turn into a snowflake?
WOMEN ARE TO BE TREATED AS EQUALS SHITLORD!!!!
But how dare you laugh at a woman!
Then why did she give her speech with a squeaky helium voice?
He added the organization hadn’t been able to identify exactly who was laughing in the audience but said the organisation was writing to those who attended the event to condemn ‘the completely inappropriate reaction.’
Two last comments.
1. I don’t know why someone would laugh at this necessarily, and so that makes me think I’m missing some context. Yes i’m not so much of a misanthrope to think that someone would be that rude without context. I know that i’ve been at “Awards” dinners and very often people are not paying attention, and it is not uncommon for people to be laughing at something else.
2. I couldn’t find what Award she was getting, but it seems to indicate it was some award for her studies in archeology, when what she studied sounds more like the realm of an Ethics committee of some professional organization. Not that it isn’t useful, but that it doesn’t make sense to get an award for archeology when your study only has to do with studying archeologists, not archeology.
I’d be laughing at myself, thinking “Why the fuck am I here to get preached to by a 21 year old?”
I’m imagining someone at the table whispering “I’d harass the hell out her in the field” and his neighbor saying “Yeah, I dig it.”
Gosh, I wonder what they had in mind for those whom they did identify.
The next Indiana Jones is gonna suck.
Indiana Janes you shitlord!
Sorry, I chose poorly.
Someone get a broom and dustpan. There might be another artifact to bring Sraffin back in the big warehouse. Don’t lose any of the dust.
It’s my Sunday morning every week. Pour some green tea and bacon grease on the pile of dust. I’ll be good by noon.
The next Indiana Jones is gonna suck.
And suck well, otherwise she won’t get the job
The first thing I thought of is that she was researching sexual harassment in the past by using archeology, which got me to chuckle.
That would at least be interesting.
You want petty! I got your petty right here!
The Boy Mayor says he would charge the same to any campaign event. I somehow can’t remember any talk about Obama or Clinton being asked to cover costs like this. I wish Trump would say something like “I would pay for the police, but I didn’t see any evidence of them actually stopping progressives from attacking people who went to the event.“
I wonder if the total includes the cost of “weeks of calculating the cost”.
I hope someone in the WH read your suggestion and Trump actually does this your holiness….
Me too.
All my proggie friends think that Frey is so clever for doing this. They all acknowledge that this is complete petty politics, but have no problem with it because OrangeManBad. (And to be honest, the really don’t have to worry about the GOP ever being back in power in the city govt)
You would be surprised at how many people I know that have simply gone so far off the deep end because of TDS that they are OK with burning down their own house if that allows them to finally “get” orange man. That people are that personally invested, and primarily because they are pissed he won an election they thought had been rigged for their favorite criminal (of course they see her a s a saint), just baffles me. I am not a real fan of orange man, but I am loving what he has done to the marxist & fascist crowd out there.
“The political is personal” pretty much says it all, especially considering that for leftists government is religion.
Oh, I now no longer doubt that for the left the political is religious and that they will behave as a cult does when their beliefs are threatened. It also explains why they act like they are at war with anyone that doesn’t believe what they do other than other religious fanatics.
Trump doesn’t even pay his legitimate bills. I’d say the chances of this one getting covered are approximately zero.
This one, I believe, he doesnât owe. If memory serves , he told them in advance the SS would handle security and he wasnât paying for the locals.
I somehow canât remember any talk about Obama or Clinton being asked to cover costs like this.
My first question is how are these usually paid for considering I am only hearing of it being an issue now.
Baffling
Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s support among Democratic primary voters nationwide plunged 50 percent over the past month, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll, signaling that the shake-ups in the primary field are far from over.
Former Vice President Joe Biden has retaken the lead in the poll after an autumn that saw him surrender his solid frontrunner status, climbing 3 points to earn 24 percent in the poll. Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., surged into second, rising 6 points to 16 percent, with Warren and Sen. Bernie Sanders not far behind at 14 and 13 percent, respectively.
But Warren’s plummet â 14 points since the previous Quinnipiac poll taken a month ago â represents a brutal dive as the first nominating contests of 2020 inch closer. Warren has come under fire over the past few months since a summertime ascendance lifted her into the top tier of the primary field. She has received particularly intense scrutiny for her âMedicare for Allâ plan, including how she would pay for it.
The more she says, the less they like her? Misogyny and prejudice. The rubes don’t understand their own best interests. She just wants to make their lives more perfect.
I think I saw her hanging around outside a cigar shop the other day.
Yep
So just like Hillary?
Funny how the party of diversity’s primary has ended up being between an old corrupt white dude and a young soon to be corrupt white dude…
They have a Zombie, a Troll, a witch and a Gay dude in the top 4, how much diversity do you want?
Honk Honk/a>
Joan Walsh, a CNN contributor and national affairs correspondent for The Nation, took to Twitter on Monday to insult the president and Melania Trump after the ceremony honoring the world’s most famous terrorist-eating dog, Conan. “This is terrifying,” she wrote. “Trump and Melania exude coldness to Conan the hero dog. Melania, whose coat is slightly macabre (to me, but others may find it lovely), moves away from Conan multiple times.”…
As for interacting with the dog, notice she said nothing about Mike Pence and the hilarious moment he stopped petting Conan and she went back for more, begging for his attention. That was a fun and sweet moment, so she clearly avoided that.
Walsh didn’t stop at lying about the Trumps’ attitude with the dog. “Trump tells you how incredible ‘this particular type of dog’ is, repeatedly, but he clearly can’t remember the name of the breed or other details,” she continued. Or maybe it tells you that Trump is not the Dog Whisperer and he wanted the handler to be able to tell the press about Conan and give him a moment in the spotlight. And then, predictably, because CNN journalists never get Trump’s jokes while the rest of us laugh uproariously, she said, “Trump repeatedly ‘jokes’ about siccing the dog on journalists.” Yes, he did. And it was hilarious. And everyone in America had a riotous time imagining Jim Acosta being chased around the White House lawn by Conan, the very good dog.
Whoops.
Anyway, related: Trump Under Fire for Using Male Pronouns to Describe Conan the Hero Dog.
I guess the name has something to do with that. Either way, s/he is such a good boy/girl.
Maybe the bitch identifies as male.
Did you expect something else from the author of “What’s the Matter with White People?”
Why do people think the legacy media has nothing to offer?
Oh man, it’s hard to keep up around here. As soon as the links go up there’s 200 comments within 5 minutes and then everyone is done with it. One might think I’d have an advantage being at least three hours ahead over on the other side of the Atlantic. Do y’all have unspecific office jobs that involve lots of pretending to be busy while instead refreshing Glibs every 2 minutes? A workin’ man can’t get too much time on the internet like that save for reading his emails and skim reading half a Kevin Williamson article with a reheated cup of coffee.
Well, the links have been up for 2 hours. I’m not saying you’re a slow reader, but…maybe you should read faster.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Remember what happened last time you tried to read the comments real fast – without properly warming up – Mike? Do you want JDU to have the same painful lip cramps you did?
I am definitely a slow reader. I mostly come here for the pictures.
Do yâall have unspecific office jobs that involve lots of pretending to be busy while instead refreshing Glibs every 2 minutes?
Why don’t you just yell “DONT ANY OF YOU WORK?”
*Yells “DON’T ANY OF YOU WORK?!”*

Also, a lot of time is wasted responding to emails or attending meetings.
Aaaah. IT, of course. It’s like I’d forgotten this was a libertarian site.
We have a lot of remote team members, so a lot of time to comment while pretending to listen during meetings on Google Hangouts.
Today is awesome. We had a big storm last night, which combined with being the day before T-giving means no one is in the office. Glorious freedom!
About 3 inches (of snow) here. Wait’ll tomorrow/Friday
Trump misidentifies a bitch. They got him now!
Shit. Missed the link for this story being posted earlier. Damn it. You people are too fast for me.
Bloomberg saying that his media operation can only publish negative things about Trump is fine, right? I mean, that is only right.
Nothing positive could ever be said about Public Enemy Number One, because he is pure, distilled evil.

I remember being 21. I don’t think I was quite so arrogant/naive as to think I could lecture professionals in my field who had decades of experience on me.
It took me a few years of working before I realized the professionals in my field were even more full of shit than I was.
Brookline Town Meeting Approves Lowering The Voting Age To 16
The town of Brookline is seeking approval from the state to lower the voting age to 16. The decision was approved by a 142 to 71 vote in a town meeting Thursday night.
âThese elections directly impact these young people,â said board member Raul Fernandez, who is in favor of the idea. It would allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in municipal elections and make them eligible to become a town meeting member if they were registered.
âAt the age of 16, they can start working and paying taxes on that work,â said Fernandez. âThereâs no reason why these young people should not have a say in our politics and actually giving them a say in our politics will make us even better.â
So they should also be able to buy guns, enter into contracts, tried as adults for all crimes, and be conscripted to kill for or be killed for the government?
That is the same place that just outlawed any new building from using oil or gas for heating?
Uffda, think of how horrible it would be to be a sentient being that lived there and attended those meetings.
Maybe these recent votes are some sort of contest between a couple of local smart asses? “Hey checkout what I can get them to vote for!”
Snowmageddon! Proof positive we must cease our depraved carbon addiction before it’s too late.
Hurricane-force winds, blizzard conditions, heavy snowfall â and a “bomb cyclone” on the West Coast: Those are the dire predictions of weather forecasters, who are warning Thanksgiving travelers to be cautious and prepare for delays as two powerful back-to-back storms hit the western and central U.S. this week.
——-
Despite those high snow totals, the strongest winter storm is in the far West, where the system is coming in from the Pacific Ocean. It will start to hit Oregon and Northern California by Tuesday night, the NWS says. It adds that what could be a record-setting storm system will likely turn into a bomb cyclone â meaning the storm will intensify at an unusually rapid rate.

I have studded tires for regular mountain bike. I’d love to have a fat tire bike, but they don’t make super cheap ones yet.
My theory on bikes is to buy cheap and beat the shit out of them. I’m not serious enough to get the extra value out of having a nice bike and when some visiting thieves steal your cheap bike it doesn’t sting so bad.
How cheap?
local place for you. They sell Framed bikes which are one of the best price / value brand I’ve seen for fat bikes (and other bikes as well)

My family is normal. We don’t talk about this type of shit when we get together.
Anyone who did would do that would soon stop getting informed of get togethers.
Same. We have all political stripes in the family, but why the hell would we talk about that crap instead of enjoying the fleeting time we get to spend together?
There may be all of five minutes of political BS’ing that goes on. That’s about it. After that we’re more likely to talk about alcohol, food, the kids, the other relatives, the extended family, and upcoming travel/vacation plans.
While we’re at it, I’ll talk about my hemorrhoids and how I used to suck hobo cock for crack.

Black Bear Attack Stopped with .45 on Second Floor of Motel
Bear went away but not body found. Cops cited shooter for reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm. The police impounded his Kimber as evidence. The Kimber, with custom modifications, is worth about $1800. I sometimes fantasize that cops in a “free” state like Tennessee aren’t assholes.
Cops cited shooter for reckless endangerment
I’d trust the cops on this one. When it comes to reckless endangerment from firearms they are the experts.
What is that in milimeters?
I don’t know the conversion of dollars to milimeters.

It’s “unlawful” to discharge your firearm for defense against an aggressive animal?
Yes. It is only legal when the dangerous animal is named Spot and is in its living room next to the toddler.

Clearly the issue is not global warming but continued Union agitation. That is why when a politician comes an agitates your workforce into unionizing and you switch back to subcontractors, you must be punished. Awesome.
Cute.
Dad should get a rat. They are loyal and donât want to escape and hide.
.every rat I had was âpotty trainedâ so when I got home Iâd open the cage and let rat out of cage, while leaving it open. Rat wanted only to crawl around on me for a while, then explore, then get back to sitting on my lab.
I even took them outside without a leash. Theyâd never get more than 20 feet away, and always come running back when I called.
I’d be obligated to give such a pet a Skaven name.
Pular Singe
+1
My ratsâ names, in order (they donât live much past 2 yrs) were:
Pickle (she liked to sleep in the Clear tight plastic tunnels)
Foofur (best rat evahâ-rescued from being fed to a savannah monitor lizard at a pet shop. Rat was purchased with a bunch of others as spares from the University psychology Dept. She was smart AF and very sweet. I got her before she was weaned, as the dude was about to lower her into the lizard cage. I said âhow much for that rat??!!â And I was hooked.
Sneezer. Had allergies.
Boris. Died young, poor boy.
Velvet: brave and beautiful. Looked like a âwild ratâ with her brownish fur but her white socks gave it away. Still, always fun to have her with me in my fanny pack to freak people the eff out when they saw her peek out and ask for dried oats.
My wife’s cats name is Sneezer. Actually a Tiny Toons reference.
My roommate at camp had a pet rat named Eight Ball. The thing chewed through the cord on my headphone as I was listening to music.
The cat smiles.
Mentioned this an overnight thread earlier this week, but I’ll give another summary here. Got stopped on the way to the grocery store at 11 am on Sunday. On my bicycle, sitting at a red light. The cop says, “Do you have your ID?” Hand it to him. “Did I do something wrong?” “No, (he mumbles something about a “gaikokujin” problem)”. Hands me back my ID. Polite. One the way back from the grocery store I get stopped by a different cop. Same thing. “Why are you asking for my ID and not that (points at random Japanese dude walking on the sidewalk) guy’s?” No, answer. He, too, was polite and just handed back my ID. “Have a nice day.” It’s crazy that they do this shit still. Probably happened a 20 times since I’ve lived here.
You’re suspicous.
Bit shifty, that’s for sure. Them continuing to do this is making me more shifty.
Demand their identification, and accuse them of impersonating a police officer.
Where do you live?
tokyo i assume
Tokyo.
I’ve been wondering. Ever since I noticed that the old capital Kyoto and the new capital Tokyo were made from the same two syllables in a different order, I wanted to know what those components meant.
The “To” in Tokyo (ćą) means “East” so when they moved the capital East, they just put the “To” onto “Kyo” (亏ăto make it “Eastern Capital”. The “To” in Kyoto is a different character than the “To” in Tokyo.
So what does the ‘to’ in Kyoto mean?
Western?
Ugh. Literally it means “hill” or “mountain”. I dunno how that city got it’s original name. Just to clarify, äşŹé˝ is Kyoto. ćąäşŹ is Tokyo. The meanings of the characters (besides east or ćą) aren’t really all that important.
So Kyoto is literally Capitol Hill?
Y’all gonna drive me insane. Kyoto doesn’t have “capital” in it’s characters at all. It’s just the place name. It’d be like thinking the word “Washington” means “Capital”.
It doesn’t?
You’re contradicting yourself, or leaving something out.
My understanding is it that one originally had a meaning of where the emperor resides and the other capital city.
The to in Kyoto é˝ is also used in Tokyo-to as the prefectural equivalent. I was looking a some pencils recently that apparently came from the government that were labeled ćąäşŹé˝.
This is it, then I’m giving up. äşŹé˝ is “Kyoto”. 亏 means “hill”. é˝ means something like “area”. ćąäşŹ is “Tokyo”. ćą means “east”. So äşŹé˝ becomes ćąäşŹ. Just cross out the second character in Kyoto and add ćą before the 亏 and you get ćąäşŹă
More gas on the fire
https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/é˝
https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/亏
Essentially the root meanings are the same. Capital capital. Like New York, I guess.
That’s how my Japanese teacher explained it. Tokyo as a contracted form of East Kyoto (and Kyoto meaning the capital generically).
Now you guys got me obsessed with explaining this. Imagine they moved the capital from Washington DC to Alabama and then called the city “Southern Washington DC.” Same idea.
So Kyoto, just an ordinary city name with no deep deliberate meaning, was the capital and when they moved the capital to the new city they named that city after Kyoto, but dropped the ending and added a beginning meaning East because it was to the east of the old capital?
Where do the tentacles come into play in this equation?
I’m sure it means something to them 1000 years ago. I’m not gonna dig through it to see what changed over the years. Might as well as Benedict Cumberpatch where his name came from.
Basically, yes, Jarflax. (Of course the disclaimer that Kyoto had come to mean “the capital” over time).
they just put the âToâ onto âKyoâ (亏ăto make it âEastern Capitalâ. The âToâ in Kyoto is a different character than the âToâ in Tokyo.
Sorry I took this to mean that the Kyo 亏 meant capital
My bad. I should’ve phrased that differently.
I’m reminded of how the big Chinese cities mean simple things like “North Capital”, “South Capital”, “On The Sea”, and such.
Yes, and east capital is Dongjing. Which is appropriate to straff’s original comment. Capital of dicks.
Gustave may be right about how Kyo eventually came to mean something like “where the emperor lived”, but it’s original meaning is “hill” or “mountain”. This is why I stopped doing the five minute Japanese lessons.
I think you can have similar frustration trying to figure out English place names by analyzing the entomology of the constituent words.
Some cop came home early and saw a white ass jumping out his bedroom window?
It would be easier to read the links (on iPad, Safari) if there weren’t so many popups, for es to make you sign up for whatever, and autoplay videos that take forever to load. No, I don’t have blockers. See iPad, Safari part.
I have adblockers turned off for glibs and I don’t see any ads.
Is your iPad infected?
Or, do you mean you follow the links and get bombarded from those sites?
Yes. I actually do follow the links, but can’t read them because of popups, ads, and videos, making them take forever to load. And then the vids are autoplay.
I will install Brave.
I switch to âReader modeâ as soon as possible upon clicking a link. Helps a ton.
Brave browser helps with that. You will also learn that the internet is rotten with scripts and many sites are built so they donât function unless you allow tracking.
I use Brave on my PC, and would you look at that! There’s a Brave browser for iPad! That’ll teach me to assume! (Not really.)
There are adblockers for Safari on iOS. I don’t use them because I rarely browse on my phone but here is the one I use on my desktop which also has a phone version.
Yo, Unciv. Just finished âOff the Edge of the Mapâ. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
I’m about halfway through the sequel myself. I’m having a debate whether the remaning content is something that can fit in that volume, or if it needs to turn into a trilogy.
This was supposed to be one book when I started…
I have more name suggestions if you need them. ;^)
Nah.
I was kvetching. Armand Folcard doesn’t need new names.
Preach it
Our relatives who defend Trump are not Trump. They are not facing a âwitch hunt.â In fact, Trump and his operatives have bewitched ordinary Americans into supporting his interests over their own. Our relatives are the victims of Trumpâs lies, of Trumpâs policies, of his raids on democracy, of his tax cuts for the rich, of his tariffs, of his assaults on affordable health care, of his terrorization of job-creating immigrants, of his do-nothing climate and gun policies, of his use of the presidential power to enrich himself rather than low- and middle-income Americans.
What has Trump done for our relatives who are not superrich and white and male other than entertain their destructive bigotries and fears and desires? What are we willing to do for their well-being? Who else is going to usher our relatives out of the reality show and back into reality? Relatives are best positioned to be these ushers. All this avoiding and attacking our relatives, and self-censoring around our relatives, ensures that our families remain as divided as our society.
And how can we forget the victims of Trumpism? In avoiding our relatives, we are ignoring the harm of Trump, at the same time we claim to oppose Trump, at the same time we claim to support equity and justice. In keeping the peace with our relatives, we are prolonging the war against everything and everyone we claim to hold dear in the United States of America.
——-
We should not empirically show them the Trumpian policies causing their painâhow theyâve been had by Trumpâuntil they are close enough to us to receive it. Our loved ones will need us, conceptually and emotionally, for the life-altering process of disavowing Trump for truth.
It is impossible to reconcile truth and Trump, but it is possible to reconcile the consumers of truth and Trump. It is possible to liberate our relatives from their abusive relationship with Trumpâs alternative reality, where he always is the victim and they are always his defenders. It is a long shot, like the Knicks winning the NBA championship one day, like Unc becoming a vegan one day.
But either we are serious about bringing Americans together or we are not. If we are, then it starts with our families. It starts with us. It can start at Thanksgiving.
Save them. Save their souls. Open their eyes to the works of the devil incarnate, Trump.
I can’t imagine a better way to spend an afternoon than to be trapped in a house with this pompous sermonizing race huckster.
â It is possible to liberate our relatives from their abusive relationship with Trumpâs alternative realityâ
Thereâs definitely alternate realities here, thatâs for damn sure. Both are partial and inaccurate to some degree, but I think I know which one is less delusional and damaging to its adherents and society.
That reminds me, time to check Black Friday ammo sales. I ainât going out like no punk, either, if it comes to that.
good deals to be had. i’m seeing lots of free shipping offers. and now that the Trump Slump is over, a prudent shopper would take advantage.
I don’t think you’re invited to the Obama’s Thanksgiving meal.
That asshole is the new face of race hucksters. He likes to say that calling someone racist is not a moral judgement, merely an observation, which of course, is utter bullshit. He’s just trying to get more white people to profess they’re racists, which the race hucksters will then use as an argument for more “anti-racist” policies.
“trapped in a house with this pompous sermonizing race huckster”
One if us would be leaving. Since I host TDay, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be me.
I host as well. Start talking like that, and I can pull up a seat at my bar, pour myself a glass of my whiskey, and start preaching myself.
And the angel of the lord came unto me!

Holy shit, how fucking sociopathic do you have to be to use your own 13 year old daughter as pedo bait?
I never cease to be amazed at Ken Shultz’s commenting volume.
also, what a cunte of a father.
I’m just going to say it. If a hamster is the light of your life, you’re living in a pretty dark place.
Not as dark as the Hamster’s! Lol.

so very interesting.
long interview with Civil War historian where he fisks the NYT’s 1619 project nearly through the entire interview.
yes, it’s a piece at the World Socialist Web Site but it’s just a great interview.
Watched a couple of good Russian WWII movies – Fortress of War and T-34, both on Amazon Prime. T-34âs plot was a little thin, but I think it gave a good look at what fighting a tank was like. Fortress was just an all around good movie, if you donât mind a little pro-Soviet slant.
Heâs just trying to get more white people to profess theyâre racists, which the race hucksters will then use as an argument for more âanti-racistâ policies.
*rises nervously from folding chair*
“Hi, everybody.”
“Hi.”
I’m P, and I’m a racist. It has been almost ten days since I lynched anybody.”
*applause, congratulations*
“Hi, Everybody. Does it count as a lynching if I was the only one there? I mean, it was just a white pro-antifa soyboy, so I didn’t need any backup.”
Hi P, it has been 52 years and 14 days for me.
Oh, hey, happy belated birthday then!
Thanks… I mean you don’t know that! I could be 70 with a really ugly past!
You mean you didn’t string up people with your umbilical cord?
You said it better than I did, for sure.
The only people there were my Mom and the Doctor. At the time I was fond of my Mom, and I couldn’t reach the Doctor.
I was going to caveat that, but already knew you were my age and you probably couldn’t have lynched anyone from the womb. I say probably because my son would’ve done it were he inclined to kill people. But he’s not (excepting himself) so there’s that.
Re the ridiculous content of what to say to your relatives at Thanksgiving when you don’t agree politicallu, when you want to shock and insult them needlessly, when you want to rescue them from the Cult of Trump, and when you want to extol the virtues of abortion:
Some of this shit is just to create content, like the chick with the tee-shirts. Do they actually believe this stuff? Sure. But the minutiae (a random thought turned into 1590 words) is just content churning.
Whatâs scary is the people who hold the commanding cultural heights really think this is what everyone should be doing.
I just ate an old-fashioned donut. Shoulda got a glazed. *blurgh*
And I thought cruellers and funnel cakes were rich.
Hey are you still making some pie crust? I just discovered an easy way to without it sticking. Roll it out on parchment paper and put a thin damp towel under the paper so it won’t slide around. Easy peasy and you just flip the paper over on top of the pie pan when it’s rolled out.
That is a super-good idea. I have a silpat I got long ago at my brother’s suggestion. I’ll try that (cuz it was expensive [by my standards] [which are low] and I should at least try) and if that doesn’t work, I’ll do the parchment paper.
Thanks!
Parchment paper is great. So many uses, so much better than waxed or foil or film.
OK, so this is funny.
Seems the American Society for Criminology had their annual meeting recently.
And they had a meeting on research integrity (which given all the recent fuss, makes sense).
After the panel, *the panelists hot-mic’d themselves* in a subsequent discussion.

Super OT: So a couple of months ago I think I wrote in one of the threads that one of my close friends and I had a huge falling out because I decided to leave a job that he hired me for and was my boss because of the pay, lack of benefits, and other shit I wasn’t comfortable with. Anyway, he felt as though I betrayed him and told me that I couldn’t be in his wedding and that he wasn’t sure we could be friends anymore. Fast forward to last week and he and his fiance sent us Save the Dates to their wedding in May.
Wasn’t going to go because he said a lot of spiteful shit about me and wife but everyone within our group of friends said that we ought to go as a gesture of goodwill and because the group dynamic would be frayed if I didn’t go. I’m going to go but will probably leave an hour after the toasts and dinner because while I don’t hold grudges, dude did say a lot of shitty things about me and still holds a grudge against me for leaving even though I apologized and tried to make amends.
I feel like I have to go out of obligation because he did drive all the way to Cleveland for my wedding (he was one of my groomsmen) and his fiance wants us to be there even though she’s somewhat aware of the issues between us.
Always be the better man.
Yup
That’s what everyone told me. I don’t have to get shitfaced and stay all night at the reception. Just come there, give a decent gift, wish the bride and the groom success, and be on my way. And I have an out to leave early since my daughter will be five months old at the time and will need to have a babysitter.
The world is full of disappointing people.
Just make sure you are not disappointed in yourself.
That’s great advice. My friend who is one of the groomsmen said that while they may not remember me being at the wedding, they won’t forget that I wasn’t there. Everyone’s like, ‘We get why you wouldn’t go considering the shit he said about you, but rise above that and be the bigger man.”
It’s not about them. It’s about you. You look out for you, and you don’t need that negativity in your life.
But–will you look back and regret not going?
He’s also going because the gang’s all there. No reason not to enjoy that.
Toxicity is more than a little about perspective and self- confidence. Who lets one guy with a selfish bent get under their skin? Dude already voted himself off the island: nothing he can say should matter now.
And all this stuff is so easy to float over knowing you’ve been the bigger man at every turn.
It would be a piece of cake for me. Also dress better, dance better, squire about your fine wife, have a kind or jolly bon mot to throw off for every need . . . . Profit!
Why waste your time going to something you don’t want to go to to appease a whole bunch of people who are exhorting him to “be the better man”?
Ed clearly doesn’t want to go or he wouldn’t be struggling with it.
There is absolutely no reason to indulge a petty man’s passive-aggressive attempt to reconcile (if that’s what it even is).
If you didn’t do anything wrong, don’t go.
Yeah. I struggle with that. A part of me is like…fuck that guy. Not only did he take it personal that I left but he made all sorts of shitty accusations against me, but the other side is like…swallow your pride, be the bigger man, and go for a couple of hours and leave.
You said you apologized. Not trying to be a dick, but you shouldn’t have IIRC your original story correctly. There’s a difference between, “I gotta do what I gotta do. Sorry if that’s an inconvenience for you, but it’s business” and “Sorry I broke some kind of promise.” If the former and he still talked shit, fuck him.
Nah. Keep the toxicity out of your life. You don’t need to go celebrate a guy who kicked you to the curb AFTER he said he wouldn’t if things went south (yes, I remembered).
Don’t go.
The fiancee is in charge of the wedding. He may very well not want you to be there but caved to the fiancee, or he doesn’t know you were invited.
It’s so easy for me to tell the wife, “No, I don’t wanna do that so I’m not gonna do that.” Maybe I’m a psycho.
Well, it’s not Ed’s wife’s friend (hereinafter, TF [toxic friend]).
If TF can’t say no to his fiancee, oh well, what a pussy. If TF wants Ed there, he should tell him himself, but he didn’t, so TF is a pussy.
TF cut Ed off. Ed is better for it. Stay cut off.
Mojeaux has no mercy whatsoever, lol. Sometimes I need to have attitude.
Every time I have tried to reconnect, it’s ended in spectacularly disastrous fashion. Don’t sit there through the wedding and reception being miserable.
Sure. I’m simply pointing out that his TF is being a wimp. I wouldn’t want someone I didn’t like at my wedding. Why the hell is the fiancee insisting on it?
I’m agreeing with you. Just adding points.
Oh yeah! Well so am I! đ
*snickersnort*
My daughter and I went to see the movie “Parasite” last night.
It was very well done. Excellent plot, good cinematography, beautiful music. Korean but with English subtitles.
I think there were a total of five people at the theater. The blizzard might have had something to do with that. Still, I don’t understand how the theater can stay in business (well other than city paid subsidies).
Jesus Fucking Christ on a gluten free vegan cracker
Willetts started by exposing the scale of the problem. In 2010, he wrote a book called The Pinch, which argued that British âbaby boomersââthe generation born in the 20 years after the Second World Warâ âtook their childrenâs futures.â They bought cheap houses, which have since rocketed in value. Their standard of living rose throughout their working lives. They retired with solid state-funded pensions, and sometimes generous private ones, too. Their Millennial children, by contrast, were having a tougher timeâstruggling to buy a house, watching their salaries stagnate, and looking ahead to a much less comfortable retirement. It was, Willetts wrote, selfish of the Boomers not to recognize, and mitigate, this situation.
More ass backwards “thinking”.
Where, do we surmise, did all that fabulous wealth (currently being hoarded by those evil parsimonious Boomers) come from?
“One British politician has a plan to end that dominance.”
Death camps?
Everyone over 35 should report for termination!
The ones who do as they’re told by their betters, can apply for a one year pass, each year, for the proper fees.
Seriously, the Boomers didn’t get the opportunity to get indocrinat… lurnt in a woke environment and rid themselves of wrong think. If they would have, they’d vote for the right good people and stop thinking that they don’t need their life micromanaged by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.
This is the left in a nutshell. If you can’t think the way we tell you to, we’re going to have to force the issue for your own good.
Economic data proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that every single generation is richer than the previous. Barring the depression era, there has never been an exception to this in our country’s history.
I never knew anyone when I was a kid who had a home that cost several hundred thousand dollars with garages to park more than 2 cars, with several large screen TVs and computers, and everyone in the family walking around with mobile phones.
When I was a kid, if you had 2 cars and could park even one of them in a garage and you had one color TV in your house, you were considered well off. Now I know several people in their 30s who have all of the stuff I mentioned in the first paragraph and more, and they are only considered middle class.
My husband won most of the big-ticket items in our house.
The only thing I can think of that we bought new without having won it or won the money for it (remember, he won a car once) is our bed. It’s a custom-made captain’s bed with six drawers 15″ deep. We got it 16 years ago.
In fact, the drawers are so big, I made a tiny mattress and bumpers and my daughter slept in it for 3 months when she was a newborn.
“In fact, the drawers are so big, I made a tiny mattress ”
You could house an entire family of Japanese in there and they’d feel right at home! / lacist
When I was a kid, if you had 2 cars and could park even one of them in a garage and you had one color TV in your house, you were considered well off.
I’m a little younger, but this is what i remember too. I remmber thinking 2 cars was a sign of being well-off and having any more than one computer was crazy.
I think 2 TV’s was fairly normal but they were always the CRT tv’s and anyone having a flat screen obviously had it made, or was spending beyond their means.
Cellphones were something that exploded in use as well. And the amount of content i’m able to get via just You-Tube is more than i would get with any Cable provider.
I’m one of the very few peeps working round these here parts today. So, Merry early Thanksgiving and don’t forget to talk to your family about bad orange man and shame them for their wrong think and not going out to find bad people in restaurants to harass, and how people are dying because of no healthcare.
Fake NEWS!
Have some pocket versions of Economics in One Lesson to hand out as well.
“Have some pocket versions of Economics in One
Lessonsentence to hand out as well.”Shut up and give us all your stuff, deplorable!
I’m the only non-“progressive” in my family. Every single get-together, they all want to talk about how horrible the Bad Orange Man is and how everyone who doesn’t sufficiently denounce him is a hardcore white nationalist homophobe. It gets tiresome trying to inject some reason and perspective into the conversation while 11 other people are just shouting “All Trump cares about is his money!” and “Obama was a great president!”
Figureheads are about identity politics. Ignore.
I’m always up to discuss a policy, action, or philosophy.
Arguments about Boomers versus Millennials crop up in other countriesâhence the popularity of the âOkay, Boomerâ meme in the U.S.âbut the problem is particularly acute in Britain, because of the countryâs steep fall in home ownership in recent decades. The British rental sector is much more âmom and popââliterally. âSomething like 20 percent of Boomers have a second property that they rent out,â Willetts said. That means there is a direct transfer of wealth from younger renters to older asset-owners.
Property is theft.
Really trying to process at what point the âtransferâ occurred.
Doesnât that imply the youngâuns owned the property at some point?
To the Manor Born?
Hate to post another ‘when I was growing up’ rant, but back then everyone I knew who had anything worked their asses off and it still took them decades to get to a well off state. Now you have kids graduating with worthless degrees their parents spent a small fortune on believing that they are owed the world as soon as they graduate, including everything that previous generations worked their entire life for. I say ‘tough shit, work for it or STFU’.
Wealth can be transfered despite them not having had claim on the property. In fact that is the mechanism. Because they are renting, what a homeowner could count as some form of an investment, is pure consumption. That means the renters are having some wealth transferred from them to the owners.
Of course this is the truth with any durable consumption good that is rented.
That means there is a direct transfer of wealth from younger renters to older asset-owners.
These same people will argue that government debt is not spending at the expense of future generations.
“These same people will argue that government debt is not spending at the expense of future generations.”
Unless the bad orange guy won the last election.
I saw this phenomenon before. People that demand to have the same standard of living as their parents – or a higher one – without putting in the time to get it. I remember a nephew telling me he felt the system was rigged because he looked at his parents and their peers and saw them have everything, yet he was struggling to live at that standard. When I pointed out that his parents, like the rest of us, had spent between 2 and 3 decades working hard and doing the right things (like saving and investing instead of immediately trying to live at a higher standard), to earn it, and he should account for that, he told me he didn’t want to wait.
And that in a nutshell tells you what the problem is: an entitled mentality. These new generations (not just the millennials) want it all, but don’t want to put in the time and effort to get it. They feel they just deserve it.
Great minds think alike.
I struggle with that. A part of me is likeâŚfuck that guy. Not only did he take it personal that I left but he made all sorts of shitty accusations against me, but the other side is likeâŚswallow your pride, be the bigger man, and go for a couple of hours and leave.
Why would you let people guilt you into being uncomfortable (miserable?) for a day? Take your wife and baby to the zoo, instead.
HAH! After creating this monster with his behavior, now he wants to block the result of the 8 years of his horrible administration’s bullshitting. Oh, the irony!
So I have to ask: who does Obama like in this actually?
I read this report that he was working against Sanders. He already said Biden “doesn’t have it”.
Warren is basically the female Sanders and her popularity has dropped by half since she released her health care plan.
He said of the two noob guys that it was much too late.
Does he like Buttigieg? I can’t figure it out.
Nobody?
It’s fairly well known too that Obama camp despises the Warren Camp and vice-versa.
He doesn’t seem to like anybody.
“So I have to ask: who does Obama like in this actually?”
As a classical narcissist, he would like himself…
Jinx.
Does he like Buttigieg? I canât figure it out.
Same question I had until I figured out the answer was, “himself”.
“Why does that have to be the one amendment we stick to?”
Barry
Duh, it’s Michelle.
Whoops, I should have scrolled down first… hi, Brooksie!
The Clintons strike again!
How about some Chinese government propaganda served up by the WaPo via SFGate? China does not want another 4 years of El Trumpo, so I expect we will get healthy doses of this kind of thing over the next year. They should maybe try a touch more subtlety next time.
https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/China-hopes-Trump-will-be-reelected-because-he-s-14863569.php
Funny how the people that once laughed at an idiot for pointing out Russia was still a threat and accused him of bringing back the red scare, only to regale us with that same shit for the last 3 or so years, and doing it dialed up to eleventy, feel sympathy and empathy with China, which has really been sticking it to us hard. Well, maybe funny is not the right word to use here….
I fully expect the legacy media will be calling foreign interference in the 2020 campaign a wacky conspiracy theory before long as soon as that narrative fits their needs.

Of course this is the truth with any durable consumption good that is rented.
Renting may or may not be the optimum for everybody, but it’s not some sort of dire oppression and servitude. I didn’t own a house until I was in my forties. I moved around a lot. If anything (Hi, Mojeaux!) home ownership can be its own form of curse and servitude.
I remember the old screeds about “Those damn Korean corner stores are hoovering all the money out of black neighborhoods!”
There was an exchange of value in those transactions, but half of the voluntary exchange was conveniently ignored. As long as the Koreans weren’t robbing people at gunpoint, I don’t see what the problem is.
y, but itâs not some sort of dire oppression and servitude. I didnât own a house until I was in my forties. I moved around a lot. If anything (Hi, Mojeaux!) home ownership can be its own form of curse and servitude.
For sure, I wasn’t trying to say that renting is oppressive, or even worse than outright ownership. Clearly it is beneficial for some people to just rent rather than try to front the enormous amount of wealth required to buy. And Ownership isn’t without it’s risks. I was just merely saying that just because someone doesn’t own something doesn’t mean you can’t characterize the situation as wealth being transferred.
Of course their is the connotation that transfers are occurring by force, which in this case they aren’t.
*waves*
I’m quite happy renting in NYC. Even if we could afford to do so, we would not buy real property here (excepting perhaps commercial rental space but we can’t afford it so eh, la, la…)
I’m legit curious as to who these millennial whiners would complain to if they owned a home and suddenly found shit-water spewing up out of the shower drain every time they run the washer.
Oh right, the government.
Well, if the clog is in the main, it could very well be a government department you’re forced to deal with.
Fortunately, mine was apparently not; the plumbers just had to augur it progressively deeper until they found it. When they hit it, all the water immediately drained out of the shower. Been working fine ever since.
Also fortunately, the owner of a large regional plumbing business lives right next door to me, so it’s easy to get plumbers out there.
Oh, I just remembered, my drain doesn’t run directly to the main, it goes into the foundation of the apartment building next door first. I could be draining into their drain before reaching the main. (The two properties were likely the same at one point)
Interesting.
A friend of mine bought an older home and had problems with a downstairs shower draining very slowly. He also noticed that there was water in the basement from some unknown source.
Upon investigation, he found that that shower wasn’t actually connected to a drain – some previous owner had just dug a hole in the basement, filled it with gravel, ran the pipe down into that, and covered it all up.
Never know what you’re gonna find when you buy these old houses.
Itâs so easy for me to tell the wife, âNo, I donât wanna do that so Iâm not gonna do that.â Maybe Iâm a psycho.
Somebody told me, a while back, “You’re really good at saying no. I wish I was.”
“No” is my favorite word. For everybody. If I can’t pause to think about the request, I say no immediately and then I may or may not revisit the request later. But everything is an automatic no.
“If we draft Michelle at the convention, we’ll get Barry back.”
WOOKIE POWER!
