The Texans took down the Patriots. The Ravens won a colossal game. The Steelers buried the Browns hopes one more time. And a bunch of other NFL games took place. Oh yeah, the Bungles won. But we all know this week was about Saturday. Sorry, Golden Rodents. Y’all had a hell of a season but just ran out of gas. No “sorry” for Bama. Fuck them. Want to not lose games like that? Learn to recruit and train better kickers. Not to mention they have no wins against ranked teams all season. I hope they are ready for the Outback Bowl, but they’ll probably sneak into the Cotton Bowl and get to play a G5 team. Now if we could just get UVA to pull off a crazy upset this weekend. Oh, and one more thing: This clock seems to be functioning perfectly. LOL, man that was one absolutely epic beatdown in the Big House. I will admit I was nervous as hell, but that’s just in my nature and the scars from the Cooper years that haven’t healed. But in all honesty, the two programs are getting farther apart in quality every year now. It’s time TTUN start nudging Harbaugh back to the NFL. Or just pretend the game isn’t important and focus on beating MSU and PSU every year.
Britney Spears, Gianni Versace, Aaron Rogers and Monica Seles were born on this day. Hardly anybody else was. Bummer.
Anyway, on to…the links!
Remind me…who runs Seattle? Oh that couldn’t be a contributor, could it? You know, since they pretty much have removed property owners’ rights to develop land as they see fit and fill market gaps. Nah, it’s got to be greed.
Gun grabbers are about to get a swift kick in the balls. I, for one, expect to be pleased by the decision. Sorry, grabbers. I know the goal in removing the ordinance was so the case would get dropped and you’d just put a new ordinance in its place. You played a game and are about to lose. Nice job.
Maybe instead of pushing Nest on homeowners, Amazon should be installing it in their trucks. On a side note, how hard is it to deliver a damn iPhone 11 case on time, you bastards? I ordered it on Thursday with next day delivery guaranteed and it still isn’t here and I can’t cancel the purchase until it gets delivered. and then I have to take the time to return it now that I got another one somewhere else.
See this? This is the world’s smallest violin playing just for you. Sorry your little insurance policy seems to have backfired.
I assume this surprises exactly zero people. Looks like they’ll have to run their circus without the biggest attraction. But there are still plenty of clowns involved.
Global warming is about to fuck shit up. Have fun with that. But seriously, stay safe.
I’d imagine more TTUN fans are feeling this way about Harbaugh and the Wolverines today. And I couldn’t be happier.
Go have a great day, friends.
Thought I had reading about the Whiskey Rebellion:
Alexander Hamilton was the founding father of the Deep State.
And, yes, I went immediately OT.
Hey, I just looked at links, I was on topic!
how?
Lisa Page link.
I applaud you, good sir.
Accidentally on topic and first. Tough to top that.
I suppose I don’t get it
Hamilton, father of the deep state. Page, member of the deep state. On topic by association.
that is a stretch. These days there will always be a link that can be associated with the deep state.
Then all deep state comments are on topic.
I’m gonna call it “on topic-adjacent”.
It was within penumbras and emanations
It’s Deep States all the way down!
Pie is just mad he couldn’t claim the first ten spots with his unformatted responses to the links.
Yeah, Hamilton was a cunte. And then he got a Broadway musical about him, which surprises me not at all given the location, audience, and target demographic.
And he’s a hero. Forget that he was the villan in HBO’s John Adams.
My mother really really likes Adams and not a fan of Jefferson, which is funny cause I’m the opposite.
I like them both. They both had flaws.
As a statesman, Jefferson was the shit. On a personal level, he was more of a shit.
Take comfort that you’re both NEERRRRDS.
I try not to take enjoyment in confrontation, but the look of the light dying in my all-are-welcome-progressive friend’s eye when I read her some actual quotes from actual Hamilton on immigration was gold.
Remind me…who runs Seattle?
Tina Turner ?

The Super Sonics?
Well, Shawn Kemp’s offspring do comprise a large voting bloc.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL
She’s mainly embarrassed that Trump can mimic her fake orgasming so well that her boyfriends know the truth now.
That gut-punch feeling she’s feeling is the one you get when you’re talking a bunch of shit about someone, then realize they’re standing behind you, and then they call you out on it. It’s called “shame”, and it’s often an instructive feeling. She should use this as a learning moment.

You sick bastard.
Global warming is about to fuck shit up. Have fun with that. But seriously, stay safe.
Meh it is a warm year overall globally.
That’s how weather works some years.
Meh it is more climate cycles than weather
If you said that about a half-century, I’d agree. But a single year being warmer is more weather than climate seeing as the earth is billions of years old.
Well yes but 2000-2020 is generally warmer than in the 60s-70s. It is not one year
And that is a good thing. I am not sure why people are flapping their arms and panicking over conditions on this here planet getting more amenable to life… oh wait, it is only a pretext.
I am not arguing otherwise
Whatever Heperbole
I want it to be true…I hope we are warming. Better crop yields, less strain on people paying for heat, etc.
Here’s how that works: move 1/3 of the temperature data stations, keep 1/3 of them in the same spot, ignore or shut down the other 1/3.
Not to mention the sensitivity of the readers wasn’t nearly the same 50 years ago.
I don’t doubt the temperature rise is exaggerated. But also based on satellite data, general plant growth etc, it is fairly likely it is somewhat warmer now than in the 70s.
Why should the 70s be the baseline?
I am not saying there should be any baseline. I was talking of cycles and it seems to me we are in a warmer period of a cycle, like the 1930s for example. the 60-70s seemed to be a cooler period.
The satellite data has been trending cooler for 5 years or so.
“Meh it is a warm year overall globally.”
Is it? The US is generally cooler and has the more accurate stations
Romania was quite warm overall. This is all I know for certain.
Meh, was it really or did the grave dirt in your coffins just increase the temperature?
Nice links, here’s a similar one that I like https://riseandshout.net/
I like it.
“”I wasn’t briefed. Dr. Hill is entitled to her opinion,” Kennedy said, referring to former National Security Council Russia adviser Fiona Hill, who testified in the impeachment inquiry last month.
In her public testimony, Hill warned that several Trump allies had spread unfounded allegations that Ukraine, rather than Russia, had interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
“This is a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services,” she said.”
OFFS!
Unfounded….when I use that word I don’t mean ‘overwhelming and irrefutable’.
They are pretending the Mueller investigation never happened. Mendacity: off the scale.
Apparently Fiona has never encountered the word and.
“While it would be nice to have the IG confirm publicly that my personal opinions had absolutely no bearing on the course of the Russia investigations, I don’t kid myself that the fact will matter very much for a lot of people,”
The deep state is pretty confident the IG has their back.

Lizzo is a damn fine musician.
Why has the unsheltered population been going up at a time of economic expansion and low unemployment?
Nazis?
Are Nazis more susceptible to panhandling?
I’m still happy about that Bama game. Saban through a fit about that last penalty.
Bama is the Romanian word for what you people call okra
Sounds about right.
It was his own fault. He didnt have a plan for a 4th down with both the qb and punter on the field.
The punter, lined up at WR, was being covered by a 5 star CB. That might have been overkill.
I’m the opposite of sad. Although I’m a bit dismayed at the amount of attention ESPN gave it, all but ignoring the OSU game. I mean, I get it. It’s a big rivalry. One of the bigger ones. But Auburn winning a home game against a team with zero top 25 wins shouldn’t be the lede. Not when the number 1 team in the country goes on the road and pulls the pants off Harbaugh.
Dabo whining and crying about his ranking after beating S. Carolina was hilarious
It was. Especially when he whined that he got “punished” for his one point fiasco.
The reason I’m happy is that a lot of people were sure that Alabama would win and that no matter how they won that they should be in the playoffs.
They gave up 94 points to LSU and Auburn combined, the only Ranked teams they played.
Oh, I’m sure at some point this week I’m going to hear a sports talking head ask if a two loss Alabama team who didn’t even win their division, much less their conference, should get invited to the playoff. If LSU beats Georgia, Oklahoma loses to Baylor, and Utah stumbles, they just might. I could easily see them jumping a few other teams next week because for whatever reason, Bama and Notre Dame for that matter, always get the benefit of the doubt whether they deserve it or not
Silly Loser Ordination
Georgia best one-loss team in the nation
Alabama best two-loss team in the nation
Michigan best three-loss team in the nation
USC best four-loss team in the nation
Texas A&M best five-loss team in the nation
Michigan State best six-loss team in the nation
TCU best seven-loss team in the nation
Texas Tech best eight-loss team in the nation
Northwestern best nine-loss team in the nation
Arkansas best ten-loss team in the nation
Old Dominion best eleven-loss team in the nation
Akron best twelve-loss team in the nation
best eleven-loss team in the nation

I think we are better than Nothwestern.
UNLV would get 12 against Northwestern from me
I demand a re-count. 9-loss Kansas beat your best 8-loss team.

“It had been so hard not to defend myself, to let people who hate me control the narrative. I decided to take my power back.”
Page also stressed that she had not done anything wrong, despite the president’s allegations.
A Justice Department Inspector General report into allegations by Trump that the FBI spied on his 2016 campaign is expected to be released Dec. 9.
“While it would be nice to have the IG confirm publicly that my personal opinions had absolutely no bearing on the course of the Russia investigations, I don’t kid myself that the fact will matter very much for a lot of people,” she said, referring to the allegations made by Trump.
“The president has a very loud megaphone.”
A loud megaphone, you say. That’s because, despite your best efforts, he’s the President of the United States, and you’re just a dumb cunte.
Lying dumb cunte. Everything she said directly contradicts irrefutable evidence that has been made public ad infinitum. She is lying. We know she is lying. She knows we know she is lying and she is doing it with a straight face.
It’s not about evidence. It’s about a narrative.
These are dog whistles, and really good examples of them, too. The whole “my” power thing, i.e. the reference to power as something that can be sort of divvied up and owned by a person, is a common theme in social justice and third wave feminist parlance. Taken together, those two quotes are meant to portray the situation as Donald Trump, a powerful man, having taken power away from Lisa Page via patriarchal aggression (note the use of the phrase “loud megaphone” using two words–“loud” and “mega”–that call to mind the expansive and aggressive nature of “maleness”) and Page reclaiming the power that he stole from her wrapped in a mantle of dignified resistance.
I have no doubt she was coached on how to portray herself and the interview was a softball to say the least.
That said, I get the distinct feeling that she was a useful idiot in this circumstance. Notice the emphasis she puts on how everything was legal. I honestly don’t think that she understands the ethical implications of what they did, even if it was legal. And if it’s legal for a sitting administration to undertake a spying campaign against the President-elect, imagine what it’s legal for them to do to you.
I work with a lot of EPA people. I like nearly all of them. As far as I can tell, about a third of them believe they’re on a mission from God and anything they do is either inherently legal or should be if it isn’t already. They also have no issue with following the exact letter of the law while violating the spirit of the law when necessary. And then there’s the culture. A lot of these people derive their individual identities from their employment as a Fed. The closest analogy I can imagine is sort of like the Google employees who’ve really guzzled the Kool-Aid.
So, my read on Page (and Strzok, honestly) is that she’s someone who sees herself as one of the good guys, sees any threat to the established order of the Fed bureaucracy as an existential, moral threat, and believed she had a moral obligation to go after Trump by any means necessary. The Deep State is like a religious cult, and these people are the fanatical footsoldiers.
Lots of sleezy things can still be legal. See Hunter Biden.
No, you are not allowed to reference Hunter Biden.
This is conspiracy theory stuff that has been widely debunked. Don’t you read the papers?
Well, in Mom news, looks like things have gotten too far along for us to be able to continue. So I’m flying her to Baltimore next weekend to go into a memory care facility near my sister’s house. I’m glad we at least got a few months with her before things deteriorated to this point.
Oh, and RAVENS.
That is sad… I did not have it in my family, but I have close friends who did and I know it is not easy. At least you have decent care facilities in the States…
ugh
You and SP have truly been saints. Also by keeping us enlightened about the difficulties and changes your Mom has gone through have been educational. We have all learned a lot and have a better understanding of the Big A. Thanks, OM
I’m sorry to hear that, and that she will be so far now, but I’m glad you had some time with her.
I am so sorry to hear that. It is impossible to overstate how trying that situation is.
You know it is coming and you think you are ready but when it arrives you aren’t. I have nothing but well wishes for you, your mother and SP.
I’m sorry, man.
Love you and SP and I know this has been tough on the both of you. Hang in there.
It is hard. I’m sorry, man. God bless you and SP and mom
Thanks to you all. You’re our big, happy, totally dysfunctional family.
Sorry to hear that, man.
Sorry 🙁
🙁
I’m really sorry to hear that. I know you’ve both worked hard to make her staying with you work. Like you say, at least you got that time together, and at least she’ll still be close to family and in an environment with full-time staff to care for her.
Uffda. My heart goes out to you and SP. It is so hard to watch your mom go through that. The two of you will be in my thoughts.
So sorry, Old Man. My best to you and the family.
My sympathies. Taking on the care of someone with dementia/Alzheimers is not easy.
So sorry. BT,DT. Hugs to you & SP.
Very sorry to hear that.
I’m sorry Old Man.
People like you and SP do things like this out of love are indeed true saints. Bless you both, and best wishes to your mother.
Oh, I am so sorry, OM.
Sorry about your mother OMWC. Dementia/Alzheimer’s is a terrible thing. I stayed with my grandma at her house for the last ten months she was able to live there as she was really starting to lose her bearings. After she tried walking home (to County Kerry) a couple times it was time for her to be in a full time care home. Best wishes to you and your fam.
Sorry, I hope she adjusts well there.
One of the factors that has made our country free and prosperous above all others is strong private property rights, exactly why they have been attacked by the pinkos and why blue areas are plagued with crime, poverty and blight. It is by design that Seattle has half a million homeless. Half of a million….Jesus. Will the plague of socialism ever be stomped out? When will people learn?
“What’s really on the line is our progress against gun violence and the future of life-saving gun safety laws,” one activist said.
Useful idiot or cynical tyrant?
“Lisa Page says Trump tweet attacks are ‘like being punched in the gut’.
The idiot misspelled ‘counterattacks’. Fuck you Lisa. GDIAF.
Separation of Powers, how does that work? Shorter Trump – “I am not gonna be called on the carpet by those morons. I don’t answer to them.”
” It is by design that Seattle has half a million homeless”
I might come from a small City. But I don’t believe that number. Not to mention that I’ve worked with the homeless shelters in Seattle and that number sounds absolutely ludicrous
Yeah, I’d be shocked if there were half a million homeless in the entire country.
I think its US wide, the 1/2 mil figure.
Surely zoning laws, city revitalization programs have had a serious affect. In my younger days I well remember the less fortunate in Mpls, they congregated on Washington Ave. Many were temps, seasonal employees that migrated to the flop houses, cheap booze. Some spent their days in the public library. I recall the cheap hotels with signs, “Rooms, 50 Cents and up”. I can’t remember if there was a Salvation Army soup kitchen, maybe not.
We called them bums, for lack of a better definition. Never saw a woman in the crowd.
Never saw a woman in the crowd.
“It’s true you don’t see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.”
Perhaps I misread.
I tried to read that article, I just skimmed it. Those are some seriously entitled and broken people.
Their excuse is, “Yes, I work a full-time job, but where I WANT to live is too expensive.” Infuriating
I stopped at “It’s hard work being homeless.”
We’ve probably crossed paths and not known it.
But the number in the city is somewhere around 10k if I recall.
Perhaps, Mind you i didn’t actually work in Seattle, just worked with them on their Information System.
One of the factors that has made our country free and prosperous above all others is strong private property rights, – nonsense . it was the progressive era and the labor movement.
Bring back patronage and Pinkertons!

That’s so weird. I’m not sure how much of a thing that is any more. I know for my part I did all my post-Thanksgiving shopping online. My wife went out to brave the crowds Friday morning and found that in most places there were more stockers than shoppers and the shelves were full.
its worse now. In, say, 1995, Black Friday was a day that all the normies went shopping. They behaved like normies. Maybe a little pushing and shoving. But normies do normie things.
In 2019, all the normies are staying at home. That means that the population of retail-shoppers is smaller, but the concentration of maniacs is much higher. So you get more maniacal mob behavior only the maniacs are still going to brick and mortar stores.
So it’s like the crowd self-selecting for people who love confrontation and are desperate to save money? That sounds terrific. I’m glad I hibernate until mid-January. Seriously, though, I got a new TV in about one day and I have an armchair showing up at the end of the week. I choose not to order groceries, but I definitely could. I have a really hard time thinking of things I’d prefer to buy in person when weighed against the prospect of dealing with the general public.
I did pick up a soundbar for the basement TV but it was nothing like that.
And, who doesn’t have a cheap TV by now? I saw so many TV deals, but we have 5 of them in this house already.
who doesn’t have a cheap TV by now
*Raises hand (smugly)*
I wouldn’t be so sure. I could easily see Roberts, Kavanaugh or even Thomas upholding the restriction.
WASHINGTON—A top White House adviser said President Trump is actively pursuing an expansion of background checks for gun buyers in the wake of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio
What is the guiding philosophy of these people?
I don’t think they have an ethical framework other than generally do what sounds popular
^This.
In this case, I think Leap’s right about what the expansion would entail, if anything actually got proposed.
Expanded how? I am not sure what they can do to expand on the existing one.
What they mean by “expanded background checks” isn’t that the background check itself will gain any efficacy, but merely that they will require one for any transfer of ownership where it currently isn’t required. Uncle loaned you a gun on a hunting trip? Background check. Inherited your dad’s antique rifle? Background check. 80% AR lower? Background check. Until eventually we get to: bought a brick of .22lr at Walmart? Background check.
It’s totally unreasonable that we don’t perform background checks on everyone every 30secs.
Better information sharing among state, local, and non-LEO agencies with the ATF (would require at least an executive order if not an act of congress). all fedgov agencies actually following procedure (would not).
Get rid of all licensing and background checks for any job, purchase, or action, and all Federal regulations of anything except commerce which crosses a State boundary, definition of weights and measures, and the currency.
It’s particularly stupid because the vast majority of mass shooters passed a background check.
No, Thomas is an almost certain vote against the law. He wrote the following when the court declined to take an earlier case about public carrying of firearms.
“This Court has already suggested that the Second Amendment protects the right to carry firearms in public in some fashion. As we explained in Heller, to “bear arms” means to “wear, bear, or carry upon the person or in the clothing or in a pocket, for the purpose of being armed and ready for offensive or defensive action in a case of conflict with another person.” The most natural reading of this definition encompasses public carry. I find it extremely improbable that the Framers understood the Second Amendment to protect little more than carrying a gun from the bedroom to the kitchen.”
In addition: Which other item in the Bill of Rights is assumed to apply only in the home? Which other one requires a whole bevy of permits and fees if you want to exercise it in public?

“That action must be powerful and wide-ranging. After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it. We need to dismantle them all. Our political leaders can no longer shirk their responsibilities.”

Points for honesty, I guess.
‘Gun control advocates, in contrast, fear the court’s new conservative majority may produce a decision that the National Rifle Association could use to fight against many of the 300 local gun restrictions enacted since the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012.’
300 local restrictions? Are they talking about the state of New York, the just the city? Either way, the sheer numbers should disabuse any sensible person from the illusion that those laws were enacted to keep people safe. It’s pure disarmament.
Don’t worry, that rat fucker Roberts is going to make sure it gets DIG’ed or find that there is no live case or controversy or do something to avoid ruling on the merits of the case.
I’ve taken a page from former Las Vegas Review-Journal editor Vin Suprynowicz and called the gun grabbers “victim disarmament advocates.”
Far more accurate term, IMO.
And 300 restrictions might be local ordinances in New York state. Nationwide, the number I’ve heard bandied about most often was just north of 20,000.
Is that number a total of all local restrictions? That’s an incredibly high number but based on my experience in Maryland it’s not so high as to be totally unbelievable.

Of course, maybe the people who “care” about the environment are the people who are already rich enough that they have gobs of leisure time to spend on their hobby horse, while poor people have to care about shit like going to their job and paying the rent?

according to a small but intriguing European study – interesting way of saying bullshit we made up
Yeah, I’ve noticed the death cultists seem just ever so fucking happy. Nothing screams “I am satisfied with my life” like taking terrorizing an autistic 15 year old into dropping out of school because the world is going to end in 10 years.
That is pure horseshit propaganda.
Don’t sugarcoat it Suthen. You can tell us what you really think.
Longer Suthen: What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Meh, people who practice a religion in which they believe experience their lives as having meaning, which is a factor in feeling content. This has been documented over and over again. It doesn’t mean the particular religion is correct or worthwhile, just that people have a need to feel that their lives have meaning.
” small but intriguing European study.”
Sounds like bad science to me.
Looks like they’ll have to run their circus without the biggest attraction. But there are still plenty of clowns involved.

If you haven’t done anything wrong….
Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Which is why these people all voted for the PATRIOT act, think stop-and-frisk is just dandy, and don’t see why a person shouldn’t be required to show identification in order to vote, right? Because innocent people have nothing to fear? I think that’s in the Constitution somewhere.
My wife is like this about the school sports drug testing program, which I would really love to sue about if I had the time and money …
You’d need to have 4 kids running through the school system for how long it will take to wind through the court system. If you did have four kids you’d probably be home schooling them anyways.
Let’s see what they say when their witnesses start pleading the Fifth.
So my mom had high triglycerides in two consecutive blood tests – of around 200. The doctor did not seem worries (she was more worried by high e.g. 170 LDL) but I was as I worry more about triglycerides. So as dietary intervention based on my own understanding, I recommended less simple carbs (sugar and white bread) less oil (Romanians use lots of omega6 rich sunflower oil) plus a few grams a day of EPA/DHA from fish oil capsules. She had the tests done again 6 months later and now triglycerides are 88. The question now is did the fish oil help?
absolutely. I stopped taking fish oil because my TG was 124 and I was eating a good diet and exercising. Same diet and exercise without fish oil and TG over 200.
I stopped taking fish oil cuz when i burped it felt like there was a bluefish in my mouth.
These Euphemisims are getting out of hand.
Wow. That sounds really crappie.
Switch to Krill Oil, Tulpa.
I stopped taking fish oil because it horribly aggravated my IBS-D symptoms (including the crippling cramps).
The ordinance in question said that residents with the proper permit could take a handgun outside the home to a city shooting range, provided it was unloaded and in a locked container, but that the gun could not be taken beyond the city limits.
You can have your guns so long as they are rendered useless.
That’s the MD regs, too. You can stop at a gas station, but that’s it. And the gun has to be unloaded, crated, and not stored in the same container as ammunition. You’re more likely to get busted for this if you’re somewhere in the Baltimore-DC corridor, though.
Welp, Ive finishex dislodging my car. Once out on the road, I kept driving and stopped in a Denny’s parking lot – because they were open. So now I’m tapping away on a screen like a fool…
Knowing you there won’t be a lot of loud talking on the phone or with any other folks in the place. You will be the person we all know and respect.
Turns out the staff were the overnight shift. The day shift called out and they stopped taking new customers while I was there. I headed back home and found a spot a block away from my house. So I’m set until tomorrow.
Gun control advocates, in contrast, fear the court’s new conservative majority may produce a decision that the National Rifle Association could use to fight against many of the 300 local gun restrictions enacted since the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012.
“What’s really on the line is our progress against gun violence and the future of life-saving gun safety laws,” said Hannah Shearer of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
We’ve worked so hard to take their rights away, and now, all our good work might be undone. Oh, the horror.
That is exactly what they are saying.
“life-saving gun safety laws,”
BULLSHIT.
“The Texans took down the Patriots. The Ravens won a colossal game. The Steelers buried the Browns hopes one more time. And a bunch of other NFL games took place.”

Yep. A great deal of modern art is produced by lazy, untalented hacks who try to hide that fact behind a thin veneer of pseudo-intellectualism.
Keywords: pseudo-profound bullshit, impression management, abstract art, meaning, social navigation
I’m happy
Three residents challenged the provision, saying that they wanted to take their firearms outside the city to gun ranges, shooting competitions and second homes. They argued that the law violated their Second Amendment rights and said transporting an unloaded gun in a locked container did not pose any significant safety risk. Two lower courts rejected their claims and upheld the law.
After the Supreme Court agreed to take up the case, the city repealed the ordinance. The New York state legislature then passed a law prohibiting local governments in the state from enacting similar restrictions. The moves were intended to deprive the court of a vehicle for taking a new look at the reach of the Second Amendment.
More points for honesty.
How on God’s little green road apple could anybody pretend a law prohibiting a gun owner from transporting his weapon outside the city is in any way justified or Constitutional?
Defend yourself without the right piece of paper (that’s intentionally expensive in order to keep poor people from being able to obtain it)…go to jail.

Well since it was a pellet gun, the answer is still “nobody”.
The goal is not to steal a dog, but to steal the money the purchaser brings.

That’s some interesting journalisming right there.

COP25 talks open as ‘point of no return’ in sight
I wonder if these unmitigated retards have considered the ramifications of telling people we’ve passed the “point of no return”. If your religion has no element of salvation it’s not going to attract many adherents.
Let’s just pass the damn point of no return so we can relax. Although I had thought we passed it at least 6 times
Six? Where have you been?
Almost the 8th anniversary of the Mayan End Of The World. And the 20th anniversary of Y2K killing everyone.
Not that there’s anyone left to care since the lack of NN killed everyone.

I think they misspoke, should have been climate struts, hope that clears it up for you.

Yeah, yeah, it’s been growing for as long as I can remember.

Millions in Africa facing hunger. Huh, that has never happened before.

New Scam: Gases released by firing guns causes a lot of greenhouse gases to be released and exponentially increases global warming. Therefore, we need to outlaw guns to stop Global Warming!

Merkel to German parliament: “Freedom of expression has its limits”
Wasn’t meant to be a reply, but kind of related to old Joe.
Considering they have never had true “freedom of expression” (except maybe during the Weimar era?) she’s not wrong.
See: Bob Dole ’96, Walter Mondale ’84
I guess the sacrificial lamb isn’t going to be Joe Sestak. Did anyone, other than his family, even know the former admiral and congressman was running? The “race” for the Dem nomination looks like something the LP would do – every freaking member with an ego “seeks the nomination.”
every freaking member with an ego “seeks the nomination.”
For the second, third, and fourth tier candidates, its a grift, a scam. Raise some money for your campaign (campaign fundraising, BTW, provides an EZ money laundering opportunity for those who seek to rent a politician), divert money to “consultants” and “campaign advisors” and shit who happen to be your relatives or are kicking money back to you. Untold riches! Well, a tidy little profit, anyway.
If the dems were smart they’d jam Buttgieg down america’s throat to actually gear him up for 2024. Or clear the board for Warren and Sanders so the socialists can get massacred and Pelosi can say “we told you so” and some sanity can somewhat come back to that party.
New York’s changes in the law “reflect the city’s unwavering view that the ability to transport a licensed handgun is a matter of government-conferred privilege, rather than a constitutional right,” wrote Paul Clement, a Washington lawyer representing the gun owners in a court filing. “The city has never abandoned its view that the right protected by the Second Amendment is a homebound right.”
New York now specifies that anyone taking a gun to a shooting range cannot make any stops along the way, including to a gas station or coffee shop. And the city forbids taking a gun to a vacation rental house, Clement said.
Maybe that’s why the Court has decided there is still an issue worth examining.
“The city has never abandoned its view that the right protected by the Second Amendment is a homebound right.”

WaPo: Mischief-makers with an agenda promote ‘gun sanctuaries’ in Virginia
Like the mischief makers who created “sanctuary cities?”
20+ Virginia Counties Become 2A Sanctuaries Overnight – waiting for the Supreme Court sure isn’t a strategy.
Got that kids:
IF a local LEO decides that a far removed legislature passes an immoral law and ignores it:
Guns = legislature is duly elected and choosing not to enforce the law is “threatening to ignore laws”
Immigration = its “federal law enforcement” and they are “breaking no law” and “refusing purely voluntary cooperation”
Which implies that the LEO in sanctuary cities are “breaking the law” and “refusing mandatory obligations”… but of course, this is not true…
Fortunately for the WP, the median WP reader has a public school education and doesn’t think too deeply about what they read.
So the Democrats are back on their “States Rights” kick again?
ONLY FOR THE GOOD KIND OF RIGHTS NOT YOUR RACISTS SHITLORD RACISTS RIGHTS
I’m looking forward to Wallace 2.0 standing in the doorway at a college in Mississippi to prevent any crackers from living in the black dorm.
“Mischief-Makers” = Kulaks and hoarders
They are uncomfortable because they are getting their own strategy shoved up their ass.
Actually the difference is that in the one case legal citizens obeying the law are having their rights protected while in the other non-citizen lawbreakers are being encouraged to violate the law and US sovereignty.
IANAL but it seems to me that all LEO’s take an oath to ‘defend the constitution and enforce state laws’, or some such. Aren’t federal laws enacted via the means specified in the constitution?
How many of these can be replaced with “Things I Like Should Be Laws, and Things I Don’t Like Are Evil”?
I’d say pretty much everything political can be replaced by that or, “It’s different when my people do it”
[inserts mathematical proof that “Things I Like Should Be Laws, and Things I Don’t Like Are Evil” == “It’s different when my people do it”]
Localities that have passed resolutions declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuary jurisdictions are threatening to ignore laws enacted by duly elected state legislatures and signed by governors.
On the basis that, regardless of their enactment, those laws are unconstitutional and thus void ab initio.
Immigration-focused sanctuary localities are breaking no law; rather, they are refusing purely voluntary cooperation in service to federal law enforcement.
There is a line between passive non-cooperation and active harboring. Not notifying the BP you have an illegal – fine, passive non-cooperation. Releasing illegals early or otherwise doing anything out of the ordinary to prevent the BP from picking them up – active harboring, a felony. Whether or not an immigration sanctuary is breaking the law is a case-by-case thing. Some are, some aren’t.
Also, note the stolen base – immigration sanctuary cities “break no law”. Yet, neither do 2A sanctuary counties, as far as I can tell, but instead simply decline to enforce a law. Funny they don’t mention that.
Prosecutors and Cops have always been given a wide berth on choosing to enforce a law or not so Not enforcing a law isn’t “breaking” the law.
One wonders what the boundaries of prosecutorial discretion are, if any. It originally was more case-by-case, but a blanket refusal to enforce a law seems different in kind. Of course, this is complicated by the argument that the law is unconstitutional.
If SCOTUS (or a federal court with jurisdiction over Virginia) upholds these laws, that would change the calculus yet again.
Yep, laws are ignored all the time.
The same people are praising lefty lawmakers for refusing to enforce laws against such things as public disturbance (shitting in the street) or theft of service (fare-beating) because of identity politics.
Went to 270toWin to see if they had any polling on Utah 4 house seat, but allas there is none, which makes sense i guess cause the Republicans haven’t nominated anyone yet.
threatening to ignore laws enacted by duly elected state legislatures and signed by governors
Just because a law is passed does not make it legal, constitutionally speaking.

Re: homeless and statistics
When we sold our house in July, it looked like we were going to spend 2 months in an extended stay hotel.
We wanted our daughter to go to preschool near our house, but it was out of district from the hotel. The school said that living in a hotel makes us homeless and thus eligible for any school on the district.
We ended up in an airbnb in Evansville and sending our daughter to Montessori school there, so no idea if we were still considered homeless, but it says something about the statistics.

Four constitutional scholars – three chosen by Democrats, one by Republicans – are expected to testify on the standards for impeachment. Nadler, D-N.Y., told Trump he had until 6 p.m. Sunday to notify the committee that he or his attorneys would attend; he has given Trump until Friday to decide whether to participate more broadly in the impeachment process.
So there will only be one constitutional scholar then.
Big of them to admit that they got this far into an “impeachment inquiry” without having consulted any constitutional experts — and to acknowledge that their ignorance and need of constitutional experts in order to discharge their duties.
and to acknowledge that their ignorance and need of constitutional experts in order to discharge their duties.
“No reasonable person could expect us legislators to read that whole lengthy tedious borefest. Now, go buy your mandatory health insurance as dictated by the 50mil-word-count PPACA that I totally, absolutely read the whole thing before voting Yea on.”
I wouldn’t count on that.
Also, each and every witness was asked if they had witnessed the president commit any crimes and every one of them answered no. Every one of them.
So I wasn’t around at all over the T-giving weekend, but just wanted to drop this little anecdote here:
My aunt and uncle are both solid blue collar, pro union Democrats. My aunt had some pretty bad TDS right after the election, but most of it has gone away now, she still doesn’t like him but won’t spit on the ground when his name comes up anymore.
Anyhow, we eat at their house on T-giving and I was surprised that they both thought Trump’s Rocky tweet was pretty funny. They also rolled their eyes when the reaction of the MSM to his trolling came up.
I know it is anecdotal, but if the Dems are already losing those two, things are bad for them. Real bad.
I think a lot of that may be because the majority of MSM tends to demonize by association the people who vote for Trump. Those people are often the neighbors of traditional Democrats, and despite political differences, most people can still live peacefully and even be friends. When you see your political party’s leaders and most prominent advocates screaming about destroying the people you decided to live around, it gets a little spooky.
No shit. They are openly attacking the rule of law by conducting a soviet style court to perform a soft coup and thus invalidate both the will of the people and their votes. They have tossed off the mask and revealed naked corruption. They are openly, publicly denigrating voters. Even lifelong but sane democratic voters cant deny the ugliness of it all.
Despite their best efforts at voter fraud Trump is gonna hand them their asses.
My mother who is a life-long democrat told me she is voting republican next time around because the dems are now a bunch of crazy socialists.
Proof that Trump is just another Democrat.
I don’t have any idea given how thin Trumps margin was in 2016 against what was possibly the most polarizing and hated woman in american politics. But I do think the dems are going to have a way tougher road of it than the media is portraying. Trump is basically the counterculture candidate and is going to run a campaign on funny memes and trolling on an unprecedented level. If they aren’t careful about who they choose and the Economy is good you could see them get Mondale’d. Looking at the demographic numbers the only candidate remotely close to hitting Obama like targets with minorities is Biden and I’m not positive he can survive the primary and than the general election. Most reasonable dems I talk to seem to have given up and think it’s almost a lock that Trump wins again based on the field.
you could see them get Mondale’d
I don’t think so. He won’t carry 49 states. The Dems have a number of states pretty well locked in now, regardless.
A lot can happen in 11 months, both with the economy and foreign affairs. I think its Trump’s to lose, but events could cost him the election. That said, I don’t see the Dems beating him, absent some major development.
A lot can happen in 11 months

That’s why Michael Savage is still barred from entering the UK.
You have to admit, a closed-borders xenophobe being barred from a country because he exercises a right here that doesn’t exist in that very same country, which bends over backwards to be ‘culturally-inclusive’ to more oppressive cultures than ours, is kinda funny.
That was one helluva run-on sentence.

Anderson Cooper: What’s the solution here?
Emilee Broll: Affordable housing, build it. Quit selling out to developers.
What the fuck does that even mean?
There was a time, not so long ago, when a mailperson living in an RV in Seattle would have been held up as an indicator of the “quirky” “unconventional” coolness of Seattle.
“Haha, take your mundane normie middle class crackerbox aspirations and stick ’em where the sun don’t shine. We’re free from the constraints of your boring conformist expectations.”
Yesterday afternoon I had to drive my son to LaGuardia Airport. His reaction to the “affordable” housing we were passing: “They look like prisons”.
Look if we stopped selling out to developers and built more public housing, everyone would be able to live the upscale lifestyle of Section 8 housing!
I really miss Cabrini Greens. The people living there were so friendly, willing to share their lives (and their needles), help their neighbors (to our stuff) and generally keep the gun fire to the first 2 (or more) floors of the building.
I was distraught when we all had to leave to become homeless. We need more Cabrini Greens and elect those willing to provide them for us. Then, only then, can we reclaim our dignity.
I won’t miss my van down by the river, unless someone steals it.
*I won’t miss my van down by the river,
unlessuntil someone steals it. Because they’ll murder me in the process. Most developers want to build what they can sell, unlike social justice dreamcatchers that strive to build stuff that nobody wants to live in.
It means Emilee is a commie ratfucker that wants to imprison everyone in public housing.
The people who operate the Machines that run every large city in America have their heads so far up their asses on this issue that I am afraid the situation will only get much, much worse before the public summons the will to demand an end to it. You cannot even have an honest discussion with any of them because it’s like they’re from an alternate universe.
This describes a lot of issues, sadly.
the situation will only get much, much worse before the public summons the will to demand an end to it.
Unfortunately, Emilee here is a pretty good measure of much of the public’s understanding of the issue. The “solution” they’ll demand is rendering private development impossible to do at a profit with the proceeds (and a host of other tax monies) devoted to public housing projects.
Things are going to get very, very bad.
Interesting. Here is a video of Ms. Broll from 2015, where she’d just gotten a job with the post office in Tacoma. Why’d she move to Seattle? And it does seem she has a history of relying on the public to go out of their way to provide for her.
“I was given a position … ”
So she didn’t earn it? Quelle surprise.
Most developers want to build what they can sell, unlike social justice dreamcatchers that strive to build stuff that nobody wants to live in.
Selling for more than it costs to build it is racist.
Since those developers are erecting housing, it is also homophobic.
Sexist maybe, but I don’t think that gay men object to erections.
Are you implying that selling at cost isn’t racist, you capitalist pig!?

Fake. Everybody knows the suburbs are totally anti-Trump. They hate him. Especially the womynz.

I keep going back to the lack of backlash in the burbs to the Kavanaugh hearings. I don’t why that the impeachment kangaroo court would play out any different.

Insufferable, but he’s done a nice job with the team.
He has. What irritates me is that he took over a 9-3 team, but acts like he got a 1-10 team.
The only reason the old coach got fired was because he had the temerity to back his players against the administration when they were hit with fake rape charges. The fact that the players were all exonerated in no way meant that the coach was right to go against the administration when they had some Title IX lyinching to do.
They’re right about where they should be over the last couple of seasons. Second or third in the west is their ceiling most years. They just can’t compete annually in the recruiting battles with Iowa and Wisconsin to routinely top the division. They’re effectively the TTUN of the west. And I’m not knocking them when I say that. It’s tough getting kids to want to go there. That program is in good hands.
Unlike Nebraska.
One of the big drains on talent is NoDak State. Playing for NDSU is a big thing for a lot of kids in northern Minnesoda. The NDSU program puts kids in the NFL and wins all the time. Classic big fish small pond situation.
I admit it. It warmed my grinchy heart to watch Utah trample CU.

Black Friday was the 2nd biggest NICS check day ever.

The FBI fielded more than 200,000 background checks on Black Friday gun purchases, continuing a steady surge this year following a series of mass shootings that have renewed calls for more restrictive gun laws.
In all, the bureau posted 202,465 checks Friday, an 11% increase from last year and falling just short of the single-day record: 203,086 in 2017.
I thought Obama was our best gun salesman. Now it’s just random onerous laws being passed by the tens every day?
the example of Virginia

I tried to help with that, but couldn’t find anything I wanted to bring home that day. ?
“One answer is rising rents in hot real estate markets. Take Seattle and surrounding King County, which are booming thanks to high-tech companies but now have the third highest number of homeless people in the country. The Seattle area is home to Amazon and Microsoft, but also to a homeless encampment called Tent City Three.”
Well if they’re too stupid to move…
A contractor acquaintance tells me that one could build decent, non-luxury 2 and 3 bedroom apartments for an average of $100,000 each, plus land costs, in virtually every market in the country…if only governments would get out of the way with zoning, building regulations, union wage rules, environmental frivolity, and the like. The working homeless could afford such units, the charitable community could subsidize such construction…but it is easier to whine that millionaires and billionaires aren’t paying their “fair share.”
That sounds more than reasonable, Here in Ohio, I could build a nice 2 bedroom stand alone home for less than that if given free range from zoning, regs, etc..
Tent City Three.
Sounds like Dredd needs to move in.
I shall now go dye my hair.
Blondes have more fun.
Rawr.
STRAWBERRY blondes.
I look sorta blonde, but that is all the white streaks making it look weird and not in an awesome hippie boho way. It’s eyecatching, but eople can’t tell what it is so they staread it’s disconcerting for everyone involved.

The Silent Majority. Speak softly, and carry.
She’s not, but it’s plopped on my sewing desk like a half-sentient black satin blob taunting me.
? YOU DON’T ? KNOW HOW TO ? ALTER ME ? NANNY NANNY ? BOO BOO.
Undone task, that’s all.
Turn it into a lampshade.
I’m actually really interested to see how the Dems play their “impeachment” hand. I’m not convinced this will go to the senate as they’d have to actually put their names to a vote and tactically this could be a total clusterfuck in the senate as it removes a ton of their presidential field for at least 8 weeks as McConell trolls. Also they have to actually declare a crime and I’m pretty sure the only one this even remotely is I guess treason? for this to be bribery they would actually have to prove Trump asked for conditions on the money beyond what they have which is going to be impossible to get evidence on. I guess asking a foreign gov or citizen for information on a politicians relative is treasonous by some standard that will never ever be used again also it provides cover for the upcoming IG report as they can say that if what republicans say Trump did was fine Obama and his fbi must be in the clear as well. The dems must be really disappointed Schiff isn’t on the judiciary committee because as hackish as he is he is 100% more competent than Nadler, which is why most of this dog and pony show happened in his committee even though as I understand it for it to officially be an impeachment inquiry it has to go through judiciary. I don’t understand how this helps Biden as some people are suggesting that Pelosi is clearing the field by getting this too the senate as the senate trial is going to be the Hunter Biden show.
I’m complete fascinated by this, as I’m one of those who checks tracking polls every day out of habit.
And they show this is actually hurting the Democrats.
Will it do so even more when it goes to Republicans? Or will Republicans just embarrass themselves like the Democrats have?
If there’s one thing you can count on is the Republicans squandering their political hand and folding even if they are holding pocket aces before the flop. But maybe Trump and Cocaine Mitch carry them kicking and screaming towards a win.

Not seeing it, by any standard. The official definition of treason in the U.S. is:
Ukraine’s not an enemy. Just not seeing any interpretation of Trump trying to get Ukraine to submarine Biden that is treason.
Also not seeing sedition:
Its not clear an actual crime is required, as “misdemeanor” had a rather uncertain meaning when the Constitution was ratified. It was in the process of evolving from “not a good thing, seriously” to “minor crime”. The phrase “high crimes and misdemeanors” is the language used by Parliament to impeach its members.
My prediction: the Dems will split the baby and “censure” Trump in the House, and perhaps use the lack of a clear crime as the pretext for avoiding impeachment. This will avoid the Senate trial, which I think they know will not go well for them.
Sounds about right, and probably the most reasonable outcome of the entire boondoggle.
They should put him in contempt of congress and then arrest him at the state of the union.
(I know that that is fraught with constitutional landmines)
Interesting article on the history of impeachment from wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_in_the_United_States#History_of_federal_constitutional_impeachment
Says 19 officials have been impeached, including 1 senator.
Watched the film Desperado last night. Selma Hayek. Holy. Fuck.
Now I have that stupid Eagles song stuck in my head.
Salma.
But, yeah.
There are better links. (different movie)
Weird. The link thing glitched out. Here is the link.
I love that movie. Also, the soundtrack. *fans self*
*dons post-modern hipster film snob persona*
You should really watch El Mariachi instead so you can get a feel for Robert Rodriguez’s storytelling before it was subsumed into the Hollywood machine, man!
*kills self*
That was also good.
I’ve seen the whole trilogy.
There’s more counterintuitive fun than that: some of the teams in my list are out of power order wherever a better teams might have more losses.
CNN headline:
“Ex-FBI Lawyer Targeted by Trump Breaks Silence”
Trump inexplicably picked this poor innocent lamb out of FBI personnel files at random! Why would he target this selfless law enforcement professional?
Why??????
“
Ex-Disgraced Former FBI Lawyer Targeted by Trump Breaks Silence”“
Ex-FBI Lawyer Fired for Misconduct and Targeted by Trump Breaks Silence”I thought Strozk was Fired but not her.
You are correct. She “resigned”.

In Bozeman, a while back, during one of their recurring bouts of “affordable housing” self-flagellation, one of the local builders said it would be possible to make some more affordable homes (for teachers and cops and firemen, because that’s really who they care about- fuck those proles not on a government paycheck) if they left off some of the bells and whistles like granite counter tops. One of the city council members promptly went into a queenly snit about how unfair it would be to make those poor teachers suffer the gross indignity of going through life without an equitable share of granite.
Meanwhile, trailer parks continue to disappear, with what I suspect is the covert encouragement of the city planning department.
HGTVitis.
“Hi, I’m Kip, a barista at a new coffeehouse in a not-yet-gentrified neighborhood and my wife is a teacher’s aide in a small vegan elementary school with 0 carbon footprint. Our budget is $2.4M. … Wait, what? New plumbing and electricity? $50,000? That’s not in the budget! … sigh, okay, go ahead.”
I was talking to my wife about that, and i’m curious as to how much of a share people in california actually have of their homes, because there is no way that, if i had upwards of 1M in equity on my home, i would stay. I would sell that house and move to the sticks, Buy an even nicer house for 500K and keep the rest.
In the late 80s and early 90s, when I lived in Happy Valley (Provo, UT, for those not fluent in Jello Belt), that was what was happening in the western foothills along the Wasatch front. That’s how places get Californicated.
It’s only gotten worse since Utah Valley has positioned itself as a “New” Tech hub.
It always kind of was. Remember Novell and Word Perfect?
Yeah, Orem.
Also, a lot of those shows are in Canada, so Canadian dollars (looking at you, Mike Holmes and Property Brothers), but still.
I’m surprised they didn’t also demand shiplap.
Lies, damned lies, and NPR
But when the Supreme Court agreed to hear the gun owners appeal, the state and the city changed the law to allow handgun owners to transport their locked and unloaded guns to second homes or shooting ranges outside the city.
With those changes, the first question Monday will be whether the case is moot and should be thrown out because New York has already given the gun owners everything they asked for in their lawsuit.
“Everything they asked for”
Fuck you, you lying cocksuckers.

This is a source of great consternation and incessant boohooing up here. Among buyers, anyway.
Sellers, on the other hand… “Sell my house for ten times what it was worth fifteen years ago? Oh, all right.”
So as not to shit all over Animal’s fine post:

OT: You should receive a package Thursday if USPS is to be believed.
Oooh, thank you!
It’s USPS, don’t trust it.
Speaking of affordable housing …
We rented a tiny house on a lake up near Charlotte for the holidays. All 5 of us were nice and comfortable – it was actually roomier than a hotel, and cheaper to boot. Plus, lake view!
If you were single and not to concerned about owning things, it would be a nice way to live. Storage is a big problem though, should you have normal amounts of stuff. Plus, washer/dryer hookups are probably a no-go. But other than that, I could totally see living in one of those things.
What I love most about it is getting the vet off the street and out of survival mode long enough for him to build something for him to transition to.
Nice link, Mojeaux. Those things beat the Hell out of a blue tarp.
If I had “fuck-you money,” I would fund that place like crazy. That and Habitat for Humanity. Two of my pet charities (if I had money). Also people in my life whom I know are struggling.
My question on the Lisa Page interview…
If you land that interview, how do you begin and end with “how did Trump make you feel” and never once ask “what were you referring to when you said you had an insurance policy”?
