It’s an odd feeling being alone with SP and Wonder Dog again. And Mom not saying, “Why are you looking at your computer and laughing?” Eerie. SP has gone vegan again, just in time for Christmas. We spent last night watching Jack Ryan shoot at a lot of spics, but mostly at the bad right wing ones. The weather is perfect, I just reached my Medicare eligibility, and my heinie’s clean. So I guess things could be worse.
Like having a birthday, for instance, a guy who cratered out; a guy who did a lot; Buddy Sorrell who you don’t want to share your latest song with; maybe the most brilliant American bandleader; a shitbag in the news; and the Human Vacuum Cleaner when it comes to grounders.
So… news.
Fingers crossed that he comes back as a Raven.

Good morning Young Feller
As a kid I loved Spike Jones. Didn’t need to understand the music, like listening to the 3 stooges on the radio. Good times.
And Congrats on reaching an important milestone, important by the gov standards. More important though is having the rest of the anatomy check A-OK.
When my generation hears the name Spike Jones, they think of Spike Jonze, director of this music video classic:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ7z57qrZU8
The song is shit, but the video is all kinds of awesome.
I was thinking this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rRZdiu1UE
That too!
And don’t forget this, as included on the Windows ’95 CD-ROM.
I was raised on my parents’ copy of this album. Which may explain a lot. Stole the LP fair & square from under my sisters’ noses and still have it in my possession. A precious heirloom, and here I sit with no heirs.
“Megan Rapinoe”
Are lesbians turned on by flat chested women? I’m in a time warp as to what is going on in the after 5 0’clock crowd.
I don’t know about them liking flat-chested women but they do seem to prefer preening drama queens and Rapinoe fits that bill nicely.
It depends on the lesbian, I suppose. Today I identify as a lesbian and I like – *checks DM sidebar of shame for appropriate thicc* – oh well I can’t find anything right now because it’s all cocaine diet stringbeans or Rebel Wilson, but actually I wouldn’t turn down either, really – I’m not that fussy.
That’s quite a range, the afterhours at the bar should look like a buffet for you.
*bursts into raucous laughter*
It’s funny because it’s true, but I’m very selective when it comes to personality – biggest turn off, which tends to narrow the field somewhat, and I don’t go for casual hookups (any more).
Lesbians are just like people, they have varied tastes.
They are??

Do I need a /sarc ta, here?
Nope. I laffed.
Porn lesbians are.

Gonna need a ruling from the Swiss judges on this one.
No, it’s true.

Waconia High School was put on lockdown Friday and a high school student is in custody for posting what authorities are calling “an inappropriate video.”
Inappropriate in what way? Did he post video of 2016 election night? Something by Thomas Sowell?
Terrible reporting, but it’s Minnesota…so no one really cares.
Kid’s a hero. He got the whole school let out early. That ain’t easy.
How is a student “posting a video” in school? If I was running the show they would not have the ability to do such things.
Rhywun wants to put children in (faraday) cages.
?
watch the movie “The Package.” Dunno if that’s how, but maybe.
He forgot to post this important public service message
https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2019/12/13/minneapolis-declares-climate-emergency/
Oh goody.
Hear that sound? That’s a bunch more people and businesses fleeing for the suburbs.
What a bunch of clowns.
Am I missing something? What did he post?
And how does a school go on lockdown and let everyone out early at the same time?
But he was forced from the group Justice Democrats in 2017 after old blog posts were unearthed in which he objectified women. He had also made controversial comments on his program, including arguing that bestiality should be legal in some cases, demeaning the sex lives of lesbians and inviting former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke for a segment about his anti-Semitic view of Judaism. Uygur has disavowed some of these remarks, saying his views have changed. He told CNN’s Chris Cuomo last month that he had deleted past insensitive posts about women because they don’t reflect who he is years later
And all this time I just thought he was a yammering moron.
Justice Democrats objectify everybody on the basis of race (among other things).
They certainly objectify people by seeing how much they can use and extract from you before discarding your desiccated husk.
Oh no!!!! Man who interviewes people, interviewed someone!!! He must agree with everything that man said.
Yeah, he shouldn’t be ended for that or even for the silly jokes he made, he should be ended because his policy proposals as put into action would be ruinous for the nation. The hubris on display from his assumption that the past would be allowed to be the past if he said the right things is the fascinating part.
OK, then. I guess he gets a “get out of canceling free” card.
I didn’t even check to see who (besides Frank Sinatra) shares a birthday with me, the other day. How careless I am.
Your as careless as Shooby Doobie Do.
Are you angling for someone to say, “?belated happy birthday!?” Because you won’t get any of that from me!
“ Last year, we became Arizona’s first Vision Zero city, pledging to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injury crashes to zero.”
Good luck with that because the only way to achieve that goal is to eliminate cars and I don’t even think that’d work. God save us from the safety busybodies, they’re going to be the death (mostly from boredom) of us all.
Vision Zero? So they’re blind?
And yeah, Pierre Curie was run over by a horse-drawn cart.
From the wiki, all of their belongings are way too irradiated to touch, her notes are kept in lead boxes.. She died of exposure as did her children, and would have Pierre. This radiation stuff sure is scary. She died nearly twenty years after the average age of death at the time , aged 66. Her children died at 58 and 102. Fucking radiation is deadly man.
Her accumulated dose was also astronomical from both external and internal sources and she made it to a fairly good age (as you say) for the time although it was a radiation related disease that eventually got her. We’re not talking the equivalent of a few chest x-rays here, it had to be the equivalent of hundreds of rem at the least.
i think they have it backwards.
They tried that shit here. No, really, in Los Angeles they implemented road diets and took driving lanes and converted them to bicycle lanes. Really, they did that.
They’re doing it here too.
They might want to think about including bicycles in that sweeping ban of people moving independently in ways other than walking. Seriously this guy is an absolute remorseless piece of shit.
Well, that is rage-inducing.
You know your pretty awful when the writer only had to quote you to make that point.
It’s Arizona, with no cars you’d still have traffic fatalities from pedestrians dying of exposure crossing the street.
“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the endorsements of Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna, Nina Turner & local progressive groups that gave me their support,” Uygur tweeted Friday, citing their “real courage in the face of the corporate media and Democratic establishment onslaught.”

“I am a former member of the military, I am mixed-race black and brown, I am a member of the LGBTQ community and our party should never, ever, tolerate racist or homophobic comments of any kind, period,” said Will Rodriguez-Kennedy, the head of the California Young Democrats, which has endorsed Sanders.
He added that while they were disappointed in Sanders’ decision, it would not lead them to withdraw their support for his campaign but they hoped he would consider pulling the endorsement back.

Are you sure it’s not the “Standing At The Back Dressed Stupid and Acting Stupidly” party? I seem to remember them being a thing in the UK back in the 1700s.

It’s true, you boys. Friend of mine installed two-way mirror at his place in Brentwood.
Why denigrate a building?
Because it has “white” right in it’s racist name!
It’s not an endorsement of Trump you moron. Why is the #resistance so unutterably stupid?
Or just don’t go and make a scene out of it. Like the number of people who have (quietly, not the jackalopes bragging about doing so) declined British honours.

LOL
LOL, but with a disclaimer. UK “libertarians” are often Marxist/left-leaning anarchists in drag, or that have grown cynical about their comrades. I know nothing about this particular chap, but I’m very suspicious of anyone with a V for Vendetta mask. The “burn it all down” type sociopathic element often throws the word “libertarian” around without anything constructive, or positive at all, to say.
UK “libertarians” are often Marxist/left-leaning anarchists in drag, or that have grown cynical about their comrades.
And that is different from American libertarians?
A reasonable point.
And that sort of thing.
At first glance I thought Alice Cooper was Kathy Griffin.
The very existence of accusations of impropriety make him unfit to serve
The litany of Trump’s transgressions far outstrips the space available here, and they have been made even clearer by the weeks of congressional hearings. The president’s lifelong (and continuing) habit of self-dealing and the types of people with which he surrounds himself construct a clear pattern of mismanagement and abuse of power.
A litany of offenses so heinous and comprehensive as to need no explanation. Bad Orange Man is bad.QED.
Off with his head!
Oh, we’re back to “appearance of impropriety” now that there’s a TEAM RED president.
There’s accusations of impropriety around pretty much all the TEAM BLUE candidates, but that’s not stopping any of them.
And yet those rascists Northam and Trudeau get a pass…
And proven liar Adam Schiff still has a fucking job.
This is the line that made me laugh.
When voters go to the polls next November, hopefully they will be driven by issues far simpler than the machinations of impeachment: Trump fatigue. Hopefully, folks working hard to get by will think less about the Constitution and more about how they just want President Donald Trump, and all the noise, chaos and ugliness that comes with him, to go away.
IOW, we will continue to make hay over the number of his ice cream scoops and it’s ties to Russia till you vote him out.
Good morning Glibs. It’s a eventful morning in Time’s house. Mrs time is taking her test to get accepted to her PhD program and I’m drinking my coffee prior to breakfast followed by new gun day.
The afternoon to evening will be filled with food, music, and drink to celebrate the end of a busy week
Well, very good luck to Mrs. Time, and a hearty HUZZAH! for a new gun.
Good luck to the Mrs.
Enjoy the hardware.
Think I’m going to rustle up some fancy coffee beverages and booze. Maybe switch out the strings on my acoustic. Lounge around strumming all day.
Which test is it? GRE? Or is she at the qualifying exams stage? And in what subject?
She is taking an exam to be formally accepted to the EdD program. There is no risk of her not being accepted due to her abilities and performance, but she is nervous none the less.
She is using this degree as a gateway to becoming a professor or consultant once she retires.
When she graduates, don’t forget to insist that she go by Dr Time, like Jill Biden.

“Galen is an independent political strategist who left the Republican Party in 2016. He has worked for President George W. Bush, Sen. John McCain, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Serve America Movement.”
The fifth column in the Republican Party that Trump’s election has laid bare has been interesting to see. Who would have thought supposed conservative thought leaders like Bill Kristol and this jagoff would be jerking it in the shower over the prospect of a Warren or a Biden presidency?
“The fifth column in the Republican Party”
That’s a great way to put it. Get rid of the warmongering dicks, and maybe Republican voters will start seeing action on things that they care about.
Let’s see, who was the last Republican who actually believed in fiscal responsibility and constitutional government? Oh yeah, the bodybuilder in the pic up top.

If you define the problem carefully, you’ll never have to worry about it getting solved out from under from you
In the latest edition of its Human Development Report, the U.N. Development Programme (UNDP) argues that 20th-century thinking on global inequality no longer works in the 21st century.
The report warns that a new generation of inequities are driving street protests and damaging societies — and they’re on track to get worse.
Each year the UNDP looks at human progress around the globe. This year the authors say that major societal shifts around technology, education and climate change are creating a “new great divergence.” Achim Steiner, the UNDP administrator, sums up the problem this way: “an increasing number of young people are educated, connected and stuck with no ladder of choices to move up.”
Global inequality is now more about disparities in opportunity than disparities in income.
“What we are seeing is an opening up of a new generation of inequalities, particularly centered around the emerging middle classes of societies,” Steiner says.
“What people perhaps 30, 40 years ago were led to believe and often saw around them,” Steiner says, “was that if you worked hard, you could escape poverty.” Yet in many countries today, he says upward social mobility is “simply not occurring” anymore.
——-
The Human Development Report 2019 makes the case that many of the street protests popping up around the globe are driven by a growing sense that societies are rigged to favor the powerful and trap the masses in low-wage, dead-end lives.
And those inequities can start even before birth.
“This new generation of inequality is interesting,” Steiner says. “It has to do with what you could call the micro-inequalities — the things that I perceive as unfair in my country and my community in my society.” Some of those inequities start before birth and burden individuals deep into adulthood.
“micro-inequalities”
Yeah, that’s it.

I was just watching a Bundesliga match, and afterward came on a doc on the WNT. Naturally, the defended their behavior. Morgan really pissed me off with a “if we were men…” line.
Hey, honey, remember the Thailand game? If you were men, and celebrating every goal – all 13 – like it was a injury time winner in the final, one of you would have been helped (or carried) off the field, and a Thai player would have gotten a red card and multi-game suspension.
It probably won’t ever come up for most people here – but if you ever end up in a discussion about “Taiwan being part of China” – which is something a lot of mainland Chinese tend to harp on you should ask the person towing the PRC lion why Taiwanese have to line up in the “foreigner” line at the immigration desk at Chinese airports.
I was in line departing from Shanghai this morning, lined up with all the other foreigners when I noticed a bunch of Chinese in line with us – and realized they were Taiwanese. So the PRC is always obnoxious about Taiwan being “part of China” but they make Taiwanese enter and exit Chia through the “foreigner” line.
Lesson is: you can make all the details jure claims you want- de facto wins out the day.
My question is – why doesn’t the PRC issue passports to people living in Taiwan? The PRC is the child throwing the tantrum in this equation.
To be fair, doesn’t Taiwan, the other of the two Chinas, still claim sovereignty over Outer Mongolia?
I actually have a Taiwanese friend who, when I asked her if she was in China or Boston today, said “Taiwan. I’m in Taiwan.” Ohhhhhkay then.
Of course. Taiwan is cool. China is asshole.

Hey, as long as you got the mike you might as well say everything you have on your mind. Your 15 minutes will be up before too long.
The problem for marxists it’s that they thought they had a great thing going with climate change. It was clearly a problem that needs a centralized governmental solution. But then the market started coming up with solutions for it. So now they are reduced to saying: well yeah but we need to do it this way to ensure [marxists shit they always wanted]
Yep, it’s not about the environment – it never was. It’s about power.
Speaking of annoying….I was at the kids call a ‘rock’n roll’ show last night. It was a Christmas Show with all proceeds going to a children’s charity. Jake Clemons was part of the line-up. Clarence’s nephew. Let start by saying he’s an immense talent and his sax playing gave an awesome Clarence and an E Street Band feel to it.
So when he said he’s from the United States some people cheered but he immediately said he’s ‘happy to be here’ (his girlfriend is from Montreal) and proceeded to indirectly voice his displeasure about you know how through sing songs and make vapid quips about how ‘we’re all one” and ‘hope’ and shit like that.
He went political.
At a Christmas show. For dying children.
These people can’t help themselves. They have to engage in presumptuous behaviour. They can’t sit and think outside their personal box and respect the fact that there may be people in the audience who simply don’t share his opinion and don’t appreciate being told that because they may like or vote (d) for Trump that somehow they’re being ‘divisive’. Then there’s the whole ‘we’re one people’ act but then proceeds to bash a person who got votes from half the country.
I personally hate it.
Oh. The person who put the show together? He voted for Trump.

Crime of the Century, contd
The man accused of slapping a news reporter on the backside while she was reporting live in Savannah, Georgia, last week has been arrested and charged with sexual battery, according to her employer, CNN affiliate WSAV.
Thomas Callaway turned himself in at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and was released on a $1,300 bond, according to a report by WSAV.
Callaway is accused of hitting Savannah reporter Alex Bozarjian on her backside as she was reporting at the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run and he was running in the event. The incident was caught on camera, and Bozarjian’s reporting was momentarily interrupted by her stunned reaction.
Bozarjian filed a sexual battery complaint with the Savannah Police Department. The report says she “described the smack as a ‘smack and grab,’ advising that he also grabbed her buttocks in the same motion. She stated she felt a sharp sting after the smack and advised that it caused her to pause during the broadcast.”
Bozarjian’s attorney, Gloria Allred, provided a brief statement to WSAV Friday saying, “Alex is looking forward to justice in this case.”
Cut his balls off, and hang them from the rear view mirror of your car.

“Bozarjian’s attorney, Gloria Allred, ”
Wait…. That Gloria Allred? It’s a long way from coaching someone to testify in front of Congress.
Nothing says legit like Allred.
Not that I think what he did was OK – it just wasn’t worth ruining anybody’s life over. Definitely a stupid, spur of the moment urge he should have ignored.
But the media machinery going into motion to burn him at the stake is over the top to the point that I would drop a little coin into a GoFundMe in his defense.

I guess we have a lot of football players to arrest as well, given their propensity for slapping each other’s asses.
Why does the victim in a criminal case need an attorney?
It’s not as if the state cares about the victim’s legal interests, only its own.

How could anybody believe a girl who goes around accusing world leaders of stealing her childhood and destroying the planet might have inserted herself into the public consciousness enough to be a legitimate target?
I think Trump should suggest she should study up on the scientific method.
He should pity her for being used as the face of the global commie/resistance/antifa movement.
It wasn’t just accusations, it nasty, mean spirited and vitriolic accusations. She blames all of mankind for ruining the planet. She only eats and survives because of the work people have done on behalf of her future and she’s pissed because bogus religious beliefs? Fuck her. Today is XY’s 14th birthday. I have nothing to say about that, except I wish I were more enthusiastic about birthdays and such. I am not. I don’t do parties for the kids except cake and ice cream with their grandmother and aunts. Woo hoo. *blows stupid birthday kazoo*
Many parents seem to think a kid needs a big blowout birthday party every stinkin’ year. To me, birthdays should be family celebrations. Maybe throw a kid one or two invite-all-the-other-kids parties for milestone birthday(s.) And you get to define what constitutes a “milestone.”
It’s not really a “celebration,” either. We just go through the motions. Sing the song, blow out the candles, eat cake and ice cream, and talk about the things we always talk about, hoping something new will be said.
Well, and at age 14, the kids usually just want $20 and a ride to the nearest hangout
$50 (inflation)
All he wants is a checking account, which, for various reasons (lying, sneaking around, spending his profits on stupid shit, etc), he’s not getting, so he’s bummed.

It seems unlikely that Billy Ray wrote and Clint Eastwood directed “Richard Jewell” in order to test the state of sexism in post-#MeToo Hollywood. But that’s exactly what their film did. And lo and behold, it seems that things are not as bad as they once were.
Oh, in the actual film they are very bad. In the actual film, sexism is alive and well and multitasking, as it has been for so long, under the guise of character development and exposition. But this time, people are noticing. This time, people are not having it. There have been so many critiques, essays and takes that the media outrage churned up by “Richard Jewell” the movie, which opens in theaters Friday, is now almost as intense as the media circus that surrounded Richard Jewell the man. And for much the same reason.
For those who have not read any of these pieces, “Richard Jewell” tells the based-on-actual-events story of an odd but endearing security guard (played by Paul Walter Hauser) whose life became a Kafka-esque nightmare after he identified a suspicious package at a concert at Atlanta’s Centennial Park during the 1996 Olympics.
While on-site police initially dismissed his demand that the package be treated as a potential danger, Jewell insisted — and when the pipe bomb it contained exploded, killing two and injuring 100, many concert-goers were out of harm’s way thanks to his efforts. For a few days, he was a national hero. Then the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ran a front page story by Kathy Scruggs revealing that Jewell was a person of interest in the FBI investigation, in part because he fit the profile of a “hero bomber.” Other outlets, at least one of which had previously been aware of the investigation’s focus, picked up on the story. Jewell became the center of a media maelstrom, publicly vilified for a crime with which he had not been officially charged and did not commit. It is a heartbreaking tale, historically and as presented in the film.
——-
Shaw, by the way, is a composite, a fictional character, which gave Ray far greater latitude with his motivations than those of Scruggs, who is not.
Still, when faced with the expositional problem of how Scruggs got the scoop (Scruggs, who died in 2001, refused to reveal her sources, plural, even when faced with the threat of jail), Ray decided, based on nothing but years of sexist precedent, to have her sleep her way to success. You know, like so many women do.
In all likelihood, neither Ray nor Eastwood set out to smear Scruggs’ professional reputation. Ray recently told Deadline that he believes the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s loud criticism and threats of a defamation suit over her depiction are simply an attempt to deflect outrage over the paper’s role in “destroying the life of a good man” and that he stands by “every word and assertion in the script.”
They should have hired a woman to write that movie.
This has almost nothing to do with #metoo and almost everything to do with an increasingly irrelevant legacy media lashing out in the only way they know when one of their own is attacked.
“We are not whores”
The outcry over Scruggs’ portrayal in “Richard Jewell” may be one of the most powerful proofs of change since the #MeToo movement began, because it isn’t just about the film’s smearing of one woman. It’s about a respected filmmaker’s casual perpetrating of a sexist stereotype that has ruined more careers and harmed many more lives than the media circus in Atlanta in 1996 ever did.
Uh huh.
Woman are so fragile that even a wrong look is worse than being called a murderer
Q,
Sorry I missed you on your trip up here. Did you make it to the Bush Company?
I’m having an issue/question about Monocle (running on Chrome on a PC):
It started hiding old threads after I refresh the first time. When I first open a post, it shows all comments, even old ones, but as I soon as I refresh, its hides old threads. The page for Monocle says this:
I see no Monocle toolbar. The “Options” in the lower right corner doesn’t have a toggle for “Show/Hide Old Threads”.
What am I missing?
Look for Eyepiece and install that instead.

The legal complaint, which was filed in 2018 but was given the green light to proceed by a federal judge in September, poses a novel and potentially game-changing argument that, if successful, could set a groundbreaking model for other cities that are tackling concentrated gun violence, legal experts say.
It argues that children living in Chicago’s most gun-ravaged neighborhoods suffer disabilities as a result of the violence and that Illinois is violating both the federal Americans With Disabilities Act and state civil rights laws by not tightening regulations on the flow of the illegal weapons that are contributing to the carnage.
——-
The plaintiffs list 11 legal remedies to adequately address the children’s disabilities, including requiring gun dealers to install video recording systems to discourage traffickers and buyers from using false identification; submit to a mandatory audit of the store’s inventory to help detect theft and trafficking; and to train employees and managers of gun shops to identify common signs of straw purchasing to avoid gun trafficking, according to the lawsuit.
Despite ire from the state and the National Rifle Association, a federal judge sustained the legal arguments, saying “the complaint adequately alleges that the injunctions plaintiffs seek would appreciably diminish the rate of gun violence in Chicago’s predominantly African American neighborhoods,” and that “it is reasonable to infer that the concentrated violence begets trauma and the psychological and behavioral injuries described in the complaint,” U.S. District Judge Joan Gottschall wrote in a passionate 34-page opinion largely denying the state’s motion to dismiss.
“This is a pretty unique argument,” said Darrell Miller, a professor and co-director of the Duke University Center for Firearms Law. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen any kind of theory of liability based on the Americans With Disability Act as a way of trying to oblige a municipality or government official to change the gun licensing system.”
The ADA trumps the Constitution, apparently. And we just need to try harder. Maybe stop-and-frisk, and door to door searches.
Stop and frisk all subjects. Summary execution for those found with so much as a pen knife.
was given the green light to proceed by a federal judge
Between that and the non-dismal of the nonsensical climate kids lawsuit, federal judges are really trying their damnedest to strip whatever remaining legitimacy remains around them. Dipshits will be longing for the days when all they had to worry about was anonymous internet comments mentioning woodchippers.
the complaint adequately alleges that the injunctions plaintiffs seek would appreciably diminish the rate of gun violence in Chicago’s predominantly African American neighborhoods
This is accomplished by having the complaint say “the injunctions plaintiffs seek would appreciably diminish the rate of gun violence in Chicago’s predominantly African American neighborhoods”.
a passionate 34-page opinion
I remember, gosh, from just last month, not to mention during a high-profile confirmation last hear, much chin-pulling over “judicial temperament” and how judges who show passion don’t have it.
One problem: the remedies asked for are not accommodations of disabled persons required by the ADA.
We’re going to need to throw tens of millions of taxpayer dollars at lawyers first before you can draw a conclusion like that.
“…the injunctions plaintiffs seek would appreciably diminish the rate of gun violence in Chicago’s predominantly African American neighborhoods,…”
No, they would not. Not one whit. But then reducing gun violence isn’t the aim here, is it.
*places pistol on table* Now, watch this. *stares at gun……keeps staring….* Keep watching, you will see it in a minute. *ten minutes later after constant staring*
See. It is an inanimate object and inanimate objects are….inanimate. It is people that have agency. People who decide to engage in violence. Guns are illegal in Mexico and in Brazil, well, most countries in Latin America, and yet some of those are the most violent countries with the highest rates of gun violence on earth. People have agency and much of that is influenced by culture.
Take every gun out of Chicago today and in a week it will be like that never happened. Make guns totally illegal in Illinois and guess what? In a week it will be like that never happened.
Until the culture changes in the neighborhoods where this is happening there is nothing that can be done to stop it. Disarming law abiding citizens will only make it worse, which I suspect is the goal here.
Didnt we get a lecture from Virginia’s governor Northram on ‘ the law is the law!’? I believe we did, yet I never saw the proper response to it. Yes, the law is the law and the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, the basic contract between the state and the citizens. That contract forbids both the states and the feds from infringing on citizens inalienable right to defend themselves or their possessing or carrying the means to do so. That is the law. Any act by a legislature or executive that infringes on that right, that contravenes the supreme law of the land is no law but a violation of it. It is a crime committed by the state. After all, the law is the law.
Two pronged approach there. Gun control doesn’t work and it is illegal as well. that should tell. you everything you need to know about gun grabbers intentions. That and that every word that comes out of their mouths is a lie.
Shorter suthenboy on every gun grabber story: “every word that comes out of their mouths is a lie”
Well, he’s right 🙂
Oh, I know. QFT.
Wasn’t a criticism at all. Appreciate it and borrowed it.
More old man music.
Entrepreneurial litigation, pt 2
Illinois is the latest state to file a lawsuit against e-cigarette maker Juul, alleging the company undid “years of progress made to reduce youth smoking rates.”
The lawsuit, filed by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul on Thursday, alleges Juul used a “sleek, easy-to-conceal e-cigarette” combined with fruity flavors that masked a less harsh nicotine solution that it marketed to minors.
Juul’s e-cigarette device resembles a USB flash drive, can be charged via a USB port, and can be used discreetly, all features that make Juul’s device more appealing to youth, according to the lawsuit. It cited a recent FDA study that showed a sharp increase in the number of high school students using e-cigarettes from 2017 to 2018.
——-
The attorney general is asking for a civil penalty of $50,000 for every “deceptive or unfair act or practice and an additional $50,000 for each act or practice committed with the intent to defraud.”
Fuck you, pay me.
Vaping should consist of a hundred pound lead box carried on your back and it should taste like boiled cabbage.
AGs should be barred from filing product liability suits. This crap is destroying us.
Wow, talk about conflicting interests. Cigarette smoking is down. That is one of the highest taxed consumer items in the land, thus tax revenues are down so they have set their sights on of the most effective quit smoking tactics out there. Also, these lawyers are looking for a huge payday from the e-cig companies.
One thing. you can be certain of, with that much money at stake all around none of these people are telling the truth about their intentions.
Always, follow the money. Money and politicians will soon find each other.
I’m not late after all,
Howdy!
Hey!
Moved in yet?
