Happy Monday ever’body. I’m running around like a mad-man trying to get all my work stuff done for a release tomorrow night so I can not rush around for the next two weeks after that. I’m not really sure that the rushing is doing me any good, but there it is. Also, the Holiday season is upon us. Somehow every night but Friday between now and Christmas is completely booked. No, wait. Wednesday night I’m home while my wife goes out to dinner with some friends. So I managed to dodge one bullet.
If you’re as big a fan[person] as my wife, this has you squeeing for joy. Seriously, the best part about this is I was able to get some tickets for a summer festival and my wife treated it like she was the chick in the Jared commercial getting the ring.
The home exercycle trend meets the teledildonics trend. I’m sure camhos will figure out a way to monetize this soon.
Congress infantilizes adults. Now do selective service and voting age.
Everyone involved in this is a moron.
For my wife, I’m posting this video on a site she never visits.
Pretty sad today.
Fuck off, Tulpa.
Sorry to hear that. Fuck 2019 is basically all I have to say.
Thanks. Family drama. I might pre-emptively say fuck the entire winter portion of 2020, as well.
Fuck that noise, JD. You got a ten gallon hat and Q should be coming around with some girly pics soon. Life is grand
I’m only happy when it rains.
Vintage Shirley Manson is so hot.
Oh yeah.
The rain does make you happy, doesn’t it?
Nice. Been awoke since I’ve listened to garbage.
And I had two seconds to post something.
Hi and bye, back to work.
Well that’s fucked up.
Somehow I felt better at 3 in the morning than I did after getting more rest. Though it may be clearing up again.
“I’m home while my wife goes out to dinner with some friends. So I managed to dodge one bullet.”
If they’re going somewhere delicious, I’d still go, but maybe sit at the bar.
The sobriety is over?
I don’t really consider sitting at the bar to be synonymous with drinking. It’s faster and you get better service. Especially at airports.
This. I sit at the bar in a couple of downtown restaurants for lunch. Booze isn’t mandatory.
Just about every time I sit at the bar I don’t have one beer.
You have 2?
Ha! Two?, do I look like a little girl?
So you aren’t a two fisted drinker?
My wife, pregnant since March, concurs. Plus, I prefer seating myself all things being equal.
So almost due?

Scheduled Caesarean on the sixth of January. We had the first one on her schedule, this time we’re making reservations. The wife has already decreed that the day before they let us out of the hospital I go and get a case of Miller Lite and a cozy blanket for her recovery time on the couch.
John Frusciante Rejoins Red Hot Chili Peppers; Josh Klinghoffer Exits
I always thought he was a little more chilly than pepper.
He’s a good guitarist. i like his style.
Bring back Hillel Slovak.
You’ll need to talk to Victor Fronkensteen or H.P Lovecraft for that.
I don’t think Lou Reed will let him out of his current contract.

Nothing wrong with a little incentive to work out
Really?
Just had year end review at work. More productive than usual. My manager and I have very uncomplementary personalities, and it has taken this long to get comfortable with one another. Here’s to hoping that I can dial down the hours next year…. lol
Good luck!
I spent a good part of the day on annual reviews and bonuses for my peeps at work.
It’s tough because we are supposed to give a Gaussian distribution of ratings, but I have exacting standards and have NO underperformers.
So I’m attempting to buck the system and give all High Meets or Exceeds to everyone .
We ditched the rating system recently. It was a nice move because they don’t have to curve fit anymore. Doesn’t mean that they stopped the practice of delaying promotions to keep the team balanced, but there’s no more of those “you did a great job but I can’t give you the top rating because Bob got it this time” conversations.
That said, the department was still dysfunctional this year, so some of the feedback i received forced me to suppress eye rolls.
Whoever set up your rating system is dismally ignorant of statistics. Not everything fits a Gaussian density function, especially human performance in small groups.
Pareto distribution generally.
Makes more sense than Gaussian. But the a priori assumption that any set of intangibles in a small group of people follows any continuous density function is so silly it could only be dreamed up by management consultants.
I think I mentioned that I gave up alcohol a few months ago. It was never intended to be permanent. I just needed to train myself to only have 1 or 2 when appropriate.
I had one Stella at a party yesterday (it was all they had). Didn’t even consider another. I’m going to deem this a success.
Wow. I don’t know if I could get through most parties without drinking. What else are you suppose to do? Converse with people? Fuck that
If it was a party with people I didn’t like, I just wouldn’t have gone.
And in this case, it was an open house. You always have an out. I still ended up staying 3 hours, though.
It was in Santa Monica, so there was plenty to talk about. Like squatters, bum shit, and needles on the beach.
Well that’s my problem, “bum shit” rarely comes up in conversation at parties, so I’ve got nothing.
You can’t wait for it to come up, you have to introduce it.
I floated the idea, and it was well received.
The open house was after a remodel/3rd floor addition. As soon as I brought up bums, they had stories to tell.
As soon as construction started, a bunch of bums started squatting. If you leave anything unattended for more than a day, bums move in, including unlocked cars.
It’s an interesting dynamic. Every house that has been remodeled or relandscaped has giant privacy hedges and gates at the property line. If you have an open lawn, it’ll turn in to a bum orgy.
A Soup Kitchen
Sounds like a great place, friendly, humanitarian, what’s not to…ooops…
“bum shit…I floated the idea”
I see what you did there – and I like it.
If they floated them, people probably wouldn’t be so concerned.
You like floating bum shit? You want them to start taking a dump off the pier?
Them to dump off a pier? sounds wrong
To dump them off a pier?
It’s all in the order.
The solution to that problem is for the citizens of CA to keep voting in the same kinds of people they have been since the seventies.
I swear, there is zero chance I could cope with San Fran or Berkeley. San Diego is still livable so far…I’m sure the Dems are concocting a plan to reverse the oasis of conservatism/libertarian that we have down here.
Sounds like the Third World. Watching from afar to see just how much dysfunction Californians will put up with.
Well it looks like there will be no end anytime soon to the bum shit and needles. Supreme Court didn’t take up the case that the 9th used to legalize camping anywhere a judge or important person doesn’t live.
The court decision was bizarre. Cruel and unusual punishment?
There are plenty of ways around the ruling for cities that are serious about public camping. Loitering and littering, for starters.
If we’re talking about this one, I’m in agreement
I think its perfectly cromulent to say that the city can’t both open a limited number of shelters and then punish everyone who doesn’t fit in the shelter. How would a person know that they were going to be the first guy who didn’t get a bed? How the hell should they get out of town to somewhere they won’t be ticketed since, you know, homeless. The easy solution is just to get rid of the city run shelters. Then you have a bright line — if you’re camping in the city, you’re illegal.
Although I agree that “cruel and unusual” is the wrong Constitutional reasoning. Arbitrary and capricious is more correct.
Yes, the fine is excessive because they obviously can’t pay it.
But… the punishment is being sent somewhere with a bed and food, which is exactly what that ruling says is required.
Fuck that. That’s the road that leads to the state must provide employment to everyone if they don’t provide unemployment insurance. It’s not the state’s role to provide housing in any form. It is up to the individual to provide their own legal shelter and seizing public property to do so isn’t it.
Gustave, I agree. But the city is the one trying to have it both ways. If they would just get out of the homeless shelter business, they’d have a clear track to doing just what you say.
No they wouldn’t. They still wouldn’t be able to enforce the ordinance because they’re now providing zero beds.
A bit of backstory, the homeless activists had been after the city of Boise for years to open city run shelters because the existing private one (Boise Rescue Mission) was ran by a religious organization.
And for cities that aren’t serious this becomes a common sight. It wasn’t long ago you would only see this in the Tenderloin, now this is on a block where a 1 bedroom apt is well north of 3k a month.

At least that guy shit his underwear, which is preferable to shitting on the sidewalk.
In case you haven’t already heard about this one, a dude just walked into the Safeway in the marina district and took a shit in the aisle. And the store has restrooms open to the public.
Some poor employee (most likely low wage) is going to have to clean it up.
http://www.theamericanmirror.com/shock-photo-san-fran-homeless-defecates-in-grocery-store-aisle/
Damn. I wish I could say I’m surprised but we just elected as the DA a guy who not only worked for Hugo Chavez but is on record as saying he won’t prosecute public defecation.
Is it really necessary to inject the tweets you’re already quoting word-for-word throughout the story?
/rant
At least that guy shit his underwear, which is preferable to shitting on the sidewalk.
Preferable until a week later, when he’s still wearing those underwear and sleeping on your stoop.
The Marina Safeway allegedly used to be quite the pickup spot. Maybe pooping in the aisle was his mating call.
But they don’t want to be. The politicians and civil service are either advocates, sympathetic, or just don’t want to be labeled as meanies. With the court ruling, they get plausible deniability that they’re hands are tied.
Besides, I’m sure that the 9th Circus would rule that enforcing littering laws is just an illegal attempt to infringe on their rights to camp wherever the fuck they want to(*)
*government agencies are quick to roust anyone sleeping in their doorways
Fortunately, Boise doesn’t have a huge homeless population.
In spite of the economy being in taters.
Well you mashed that pun.
“I don’t know if I could get through most parties without drinking. ”
Ditto
That’s pretty much what I do these days.
I’m a bouncy house/ball pit kind of guy even without the beer.
Your a germ factory where toddlers shit and vomit?
I’ve gotten sick from toddlers enough over the last 10 years to be completely immune.
I volunteered to work with toddlers for a couple of years in the late 90’s and then spent another couple of years working with homeless kids. My immune system was perfect.
I had one Stella at a party yesterday (it was all they had). Didn’t even consider another.
That’s sensible under any circumstances.
I backed way off after me twenties. Now my belly feels pretty full after 2 beers and that’s usually when I’m done. Been a long time since I had more than 3 drinks in an evening.
Sadly I’m in this camp as well. The last time I got thoroughly drunk it just wasnt the same. 🙁
Let’s keep our eyes on the ball, here.
JOHN BERMAN: In your letter to Mitch McConnell, you say, I quote, “We would, of course, be open to the testimony of additional witnesses having direct knowledge of the Administration’s decisions regarding the delay in security assistance funds to the government of Ukraine.”
…
SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER: Yes.
BERMAN: Does that mean if the Republicans said to you, “we want to hear from Hunter Biden?”
SEN. SCHUMER: Well, look. No one, not a single person I’ve heard, even those who want Hunter Biden, have even alleged that he has knowledge of the fact-case the House is presenting. This shouldn’t be for Democrats to bring in there favorite conspiracy theories and Republicans to bring in theres. This is an august and solemn proceeding. It’s a very important proceeding. These four witnesses have knowledge of the facts. If Mitch McConnell or any other Republican say witness Y or witness C have specific knowledge of what happened, of course I would think they should be able to testify.
BERMAN: But witness Y or witness C, in your mind, does not include Hunter Biden.
SEN. SCHUMER: I agree. They have not shown a single bit of evidence that Hunter Biden can answer any of these facts. He’s a distraction.
Oh I don’t know. He probably has material testimony to the fact that he thinks that Orange Man is a big meanie head. That seems to be the primary qualification of the House’s witnesses.
This is an august and solemn proceeding
Fuck you Chuck!
This gonna be a three ring circus, and you are gonna be driving the clown car.
HONK HONK!
It’s a conspiracy theory that Hunter Biden worked for Burisma? It’s a conspiracy theory that Biden had the prosecutor fired? It’s amazing how the media lets these guys get away with this.
Team blue or GTFO!
Red Hot Chili Peppers are overrated.
To me, they’re basically The Doors of my era. Good musicians, overrated singer/lyricist. Also, in my wife’s opinion you have to throw out the Dave Navarro and Josh Klinghoffer albums if you’re a purist.
“they’re basically The Doors of my era”
This is a well thought out comparison. I’m going to have to steal this
Doors are actually enjoyable to listen to.
They are , but every song pretty much sounds like every other song.
Just like the Chili Peppers.
“but every song pretty much sounds like every other song”
what?
Every song sounds like every other song.
See Boston as another example.
“Give it Away” sounds exactly like “Otherside.”
Um..what? Uh…wait, what?
Yeah…I get not liking them, and they have a distinctive style that is common to all of their songs, but to say all their stuff sounds the same is an oversimplification. That’s like saying all country music sounds the same because all the singers have accents and most of the songs have guitars.
And?
Honestly, I like the RHCP, but their songs mostly do sound alike.
I like the Doors, too.
Boston makes me want to scream.
You need some peace of mind.
I mean, it’s fine, lots of people are wrong all the time and lead full lives with dignity and meaning. 🙂
I HATE The Doors. Except for Manzarek.
overrated singer/lyricist
Hey, you try mentioning California in every song and see how easy it is.

Tornado weather
I appreciate the concern but the storm front was south of where we are. We are lucky. Others down further south, not so much. A gas station and trailer park just north of Alexandria, which is about a 20 min drive south of here, was hit badly. Last word less than an hour ago was that there were people trapped in both the gas station and some of the trailer wreckage. I am keeping my fingers crossed that no one is badly injured or killed but the first hand reports I got via text message did not look good.
Some others touched down in Rapides, St. Landry, Avoyelles and Allen parishes. No detailed reports on those yet.
Articles Of Impeachment Updated To Read ‘Orange Man Bad’
“It’s clear, to the point, and honest,” said Pelosi. “We congresspeople aren’t very used to honesty, so we’ll see how this goes. But hopefully, people will see the crime of Trump being a bad orange man definitely rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Pelosi admitted the first two articles they introduced were drummed-up charges and that this one’s “the real deal.”

Most NATO countries had forced conscription until the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
The Dutch still conscript in Aruba and Curaçao. Wonder if those parts are unionized as well?
I thought lot of them still had a compulsory year of service? And you get to chose between the Army or soemthinf else? I’d rather drive a tank than change bedpans at the retirement home.
IIRC Germany fairly recently did away with their service requirement.

IANAL, but does that mean the FBI changing things is being ignored?
My understanding is that the judge relied on the Mueller report and ignored any recent developments and the motions by the new Flynn attorney.

Chinese: In China we can openly support our president and face no repercussions. Can you do that in America?
Clever.

You can’t run as a Democrat and even whisper about how the white liberal Messiah was actually a war criminal and routinely violated the Constitution (highlighted by the fact that his administration holds the dubious distinction of losing more Supreme Court cases by 9-0 than any previous president). How does this guy think he can get away with wishing cancer on the white liberal Messiah?
Shouldn’t wish cancer on anyone, but especially Obama! C’mon, man.
Bernie Bros are the worst. Bernie Bros who are running for office are worser than the worst.
I agree. Wishing anything ill on another is a horrible thing to do. I’m just saying the politics of it makes absolutely no sense.
Though he is right here, for the wrong reasons.
It is Obama’s and the democrats who had a super majority through 2010 and decided they would rather compromise with the GOP
Remind me how many votes over they were to pass the bill in the Senate? And you think they could have not “compromised”.
Also remember that the legislation was drafted without Republican Input and “You had to pass it to know what was in it”.
The argument doesn’t even make much sense, because the healthcare package had heavy support from industry groups and was still exceptionally difficult to get passed.
There was still enough rancor amongst the Democrats that pushing it any farther left would have lead to a revolt.
I’don’t believe that is true now.
Huh. That was a plot twist. I assumed it was a retarded Republican, but I was wrong.

Prior to that I had a generally favorable view of her, but I swear to God if I’d just found out she ran a dog fighting ring I’d have had a similar viscerally-negative reaction. It was like, in an instant, I knew I could never respect her.
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”
I mean, I don’t wish anyone gets cancer, not really, but if you accept that sort of thing as a legitimate tack to take in modern political discourse, as seems to be the case, then I don’t see anything particularly wrong with what he’s saying. For that matter, neither do most of the people criticizing him in the replies. They just don’t like his choice of cancer victim.

soon. . .Mentioned it on Friday, but we put our dog to sleep this weekend. Almost 14 years old and had him since he was an 8 week old puppy. RIP.
This morning a friend of my wife’s (who didn’t know about our dog) casually mentions to her that she’s fostering a dog (3 yr old chihuahua mix) that’s completely adorable. Maybe it’s fate. We’re going to meet the dog on Saturday, and if we like her she’ll come home once we get back from visiting the wife’s family for Christmas.
Man, I hope it’s okay for you. Took me almost three years to take the plunge again . . .
Two years for me when my GSD passed on.
De gustibus non disputatum, I guess.
^^^That.
Even a pibby mix?
Sorry about your dog 🙁
I’m sorry to hear that. That sucks.
Sorry to hear about your dog, man. Ours are both 10, and they’re pits, so they’re nearing the point where we’ll have to start thinking about making those kinds of decisions. In our case I think we’ll be leaving those positions unfilled once they open up, if you know what I mean, but given that we’ll have two young children at the time there may be a lot of pressure to rehire.
We put our 12 1/2 yo Sheltie to sleep two months ago. We have one left — he’s nearly 13. My wife says no more dogs after his passes on.
We’ve had dogs in the house for last 33 years or so. I don’t know how well things will go without dogs.
My Wife has made that declaration in the past, then went out and got a dog after a very short passage of time.
We have been without a dog less than a year of our soon to be 30 years together.
Our boy is 12 and I can almost guarantee we will either get another one before he goes, or immediately afterwards.
I am too emotionally needy to be without a dog for long.
I’ve found the best answer to be getting a puppy as the old one is near the end. The old dog gets some new lease and the transition is less painful.
That’s what we did with this guy. I think it kept my old GSD going.
That is pretty much my husband. “Never again!” He declares days before bringing a new pet home after the passage of one.
I’m sorry JB and condolences. Our doggy is 11 and seems to be not hearing as well as she used to. No looking forward to the day.
Our best friends lost their two GSDs within a few months of each other. Then one day a dog showed up at their house. Fast forward a year and she’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever met.
Sometimes Fate does nice things.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t believe in coincidence
You can die for your country, be drafted, vote, and get tried as an adult but you can’t buy cigarettes or dip. That’s fucking stupid and why is this shit part of a spending bill?
Its a Christmas Tree. There’s something under it for everyone.
The momentum for this has already been happening on the local level. It’s just another example of the “fallacy of progress”. Every time one taboo is eliminated, a new one takes its place.
Blue laws are being repealed on the local level, meanwhile tobacco restrictions have been increasing at a faster pace.

Where would you get such a silly idea? From all the “civil libertarians” who were assuring me for the past three years that the Russia investigation was totally legitimate and the only people who would question the FBI would be Trump sycophants and Russians (which was interchangeable in their eyes).
There are A LOT of so called “civil libertarians” that are better understood as fascists now
The fix is in.
Democrats on Sunday accused Republicans of subverting bedrock values on which America is founded after Republican Senate leadership abandoned any notion that they had not pre-judged the case.
Furious exchanges came three days before the Democratic-led House is expected to vote to saddle Trump with the historic shame of impeachment over his demand for favors from Ukraine.
The bitterness underscored how the saga has deepened divisions highlighted by Trump and how his power over the GOP is causing party lawmakers to ignore or deny the grave charges against him. …
An already fevered atmosphere over impeachment deteriorated further during the weekend after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he was working closely with the White House counsel to prepare for a Senate trial next year.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer made it clear in a letter to McConnell Sunday night that he prefers a Senate impeachment trial with witness testimony and new documents.
In the letter obtained by CNN, Schumer, a New York Democrat, called for at least four witnesses to testify, including acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, former national security adviser John Bolton, senior adviser to the acting White House chief of staff Robert Blair and Office of Management and Budget official Michael Duffey.
McConnell spokesman David Popp said Sunday night that “Leader McConnell has made it clear he plans to meet with Leader Schumer to discuss the contours of a trial soon. That timeline has not changed.”
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler accused Republicans earlier Sunday of ignoring their duties under the Constitution in prejudging the evidence in an already all-but-certain push to acquit Trump.
“(Senators) have to pledge to do impartial justice. And here you have the majority (leader) of the Senate, in effect the foreman of the jury, saying he’s going to work hand in glove with the defense attorney,” Nadler, a New York Democrat, said on ABC’s “This Week.” “And that’s in violation of the oath that they’re about to take, and it’s a complete subversion of the constitutional scheme.”
after Republican Senate leadership abandoned any notion that they had not pre-judged the case.
This is CNN. No Spin, just the facts.
Democrats on Sunday accused Republicans of subverting bedrock values
I think they are treating this with all the seriousness and good faith that the Democrats did in the house.
Hmm. Let’s see. Democrats began talking about impeachment before OrangeMan was even sworn in.
But it was Republicans who “abandoned any notion that they had not pre-judged the case”?
“subverting bedrock values”
The ones where you use enslaved animals as appliances?
the historic shame of impeachment
So shameful, Bill Clinton..heck anyone with the name Clinton was never heard from again.
The impeachment is a farce within a hoax within a coup.
The sitting President doesn’t get a fair and impartial hearing by a jury of his peers, he gets judged by the Senate. This is all just battlefield preparation to say that the mean old Republicans cheated again by having a majority in the Senate. Which, hey, elections are in 11 months. Play the best hand you got. If you think this moves the needle on retaking the Senate for the Dems, and you want that, this is a good story to tell. I guess maybe they impeach him again in 2021 and double jeopardy doesn’t apply?
Even if it did, and probably doesn’t since it’s political, they’ll just gin up another phony narrative.
I guess maybe they impeach him again in 2021
If he’s re-elected with the way things are going, they won’t have votes to get an impeachment off the ground, because all the purple districts will swing back to red.
I think the voter fraud will be epic and unquestioningly abetted by the press.
Team Red will never win at the national level again.
I’m expecting record levels of fraud. That only takes them so far in already deeply blue spaces.
I’m still quite optimistic going into 2020.

The idea that your employees will just be more productive if they are bored at work is… interesting.
The argument my boss tends to give against working from home is that he can’t be sure people are actually putting in eight hour days. He’s worried people will use the time to run errands, do stuff around the house, goof off, etc. I’ll press him by saying that it ought to be obvious if people were doing that instead of getting things done, and he counters by saying that since we’re web developers for a university we don’t have the kind of work you could measure in terms of eight hour days five days a week, so making us come into the office ensures that we’re not doing anything else with our time while we’re waiting for something to do. And this makes sense to him.
I often do 12 hours of work a day. Just not all in a row.

Remember, Comey is a hero and you’re a Russian traitor for questioning his actions.
I’ll never forget the people who embraced a more retarded brand of John Bircherism because it was fashionable.
Holy shit. That is diabolical. The fact that this isn’t all over the news is, frankly, a damning indictment of the news media’s lack of objectivity.
“Kristen Stewart is ‘bummed’ box-office flop Charlie’s Angels probably will not get a sequel as she blames poor reception on ‘polarizing’ climate”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7798195/Kristen-Stewart-says-bummed-box-office-flop-Charlies-Angels-wont-likely-sequel.html
The TV show lasted five seasons, so maybe it was just a lousy movie.
And the previous remake got a sequel too.
Which was one of the worst, most idiotic pieces of crap in human history.
Framing any potential critics as sexist before the movie even comes out is a fantastic strategy. Just ask Hillary Clinton.
I don’t understand how you can take the jiggle out of a jiggle show and expect it to do well.
Do these people even TV?
“The Critical Drinker” on YouTube does a good takedown of it, but the gist is that Elizabeth Banks hammered the thing through as sort of a vanity project and had already freighted the movie as a feminist vehicle that wasn’t for men AND that any men who wound up not liking it probably just weren’t comfortable with strong women. He contrasts it with the earlier reboot where the women actually appeared to enjoy being on screen together and didn’t take it so seriously, resulting in a movie that was fun to watch, as opposed to a boring propaganda piece about the perils of white men.
“Strong women.”
This Elizabeth Banks person has never actually seen a Tarantino movie or Buffy, has she?
No, and that’s a point the Critical Drinker guy brings up time and again. People love strong women if they’re interesting characters. If you have to make every male character in the work weak and pathetic in order to make your female characters look strong by comparison, they’re not actually strong women. Linda Hamilton, for instance, is surrounded by fleshed out male characters who aren’t pathetic, and she is unquestionably a strong female character who is believable and easy to root for because she triumphs through strength and determination even as she’s visibly suffering, or failing, or needing help, or displaying emotional vulnerability (or depth). Ripley from the Aliens franchise. Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider movies and games. Clarice Starling. None of them were Mary Sues, which is what the modern woke film zeitgeist seems to demand.
My irritation doesn’t stem from the attempt at Woke Cinema.
My irritation is the ignorance of film history. Now, I am not any kind of cinophile like Ted, but I’ve been watching movies long enough to know there is no dearth of strong female characters.
Nor does she seem to understand men/boys who like comic books never turned their nose up at a strong female character.
Or Firefly. neither.

In basketball, you can lose 4 or 5games and still be a #1 or #2 seed.
Good news everyone! I might have a chance to be part of a class action law suit! Why? Because I bought beer at a woke business that might get fucked over in court.
So the new “woke” thing to do around here is to tack on an extra charge to your bill and then say it is all for the staff at the restaurant. The idea is that these poor people have no way to survive on their low pay, so this way they are taken care of.
*I go to the restaurant/bar 3 Squares in Maple Grove (one of the places mentioned). I never noticed the 3% surcharge, but I might not have been there since they implemented this.
Huh. I like that place. I think I’ll just ignore the whole thing.
I don’t think I’ve ever had either great or terrible service there. They do have great happy hour prices. Some enterprising jackass should print up 3% tip cards to leave behind. “Your service was fine, but I’m leaving 12% tip because your employer already took an extra 3% from me.”
I’m normally a decent tipper, but it irritates me to no end when a place acts like I should be tipping enough to put a kid through braces. For example, there are a few places that have some sort of Square type app that has tipping options that start at 20%. Fuck that noise.
If it was concealed, how did he discover it?
It sounds like what’s actually happening is it’s right there on the bill and they’re proud of it. If that’s the case, then I would just cross it out and not pay it. Maybe that’s what the suit is for?
I think his bitch is that they don’t post the charge anywhere on their menus. You just find out when you see the extra charge added to your bill after you’ve eaten.
I don’t know what they’d do to you if you lined it out and told them to stuff it. My guess is that if you squawked enough some manager would deduct it. Maybe that is what is happened they guy bitched and some manager got super pissy?
Ah, I get it then.
No way in hell I would pay that. I hope he wins.
Or, maybe they’re upset because they have to foot the bill because of Obamacare employer mandate and they’re itemizing the expenses they’re passing on to the customer? Sort of like how Verizon puts on all the various state and local carrier fees as surcharges to your bill?
Yeah but a normal business would just jack up their prices. These people want woke points but they fucked up by not being honest with the customer.

Fuck yeah!
Elizabeth Warren, sooper genyus
Elizabeth Warren: No, no, no. Come on. As I say in every one of my town halls, if you made it big, I mean really big, I mean top one 10th of 1% big, good for you. That’s great. But pitch in 2 cents so everyone else gets a chance to make it big. Because for me, that’s what this is all about. This year the (bottom) 99%, they’re going to pay about 7.2% of their total wealth in taxes. The top one-tenth of 1%, those top millionaires and billionaires, fortunes above $50 million, they’re going to pay less than half that, about 3.2%. And look, it’s not just about asking to pay taxes, it’s about what we do with those taxes.
That 2 cent wealth tax would mean we could pay for universal child care for every baby in this country. That would be life-transformative for those babies who got high quality, early education experiences and get ready for kindergarten. It would be life-transformative for their mamas and their daddies who could finish school, who could move to a part-time job, who could move from a part-time job to a full-time job. The way I’ve set it up, it would be life-transformative for all of the child care workers and preschool teachers who would see their wages go up substantially, so they’d be paid the professional wages they deserve. And that would mean a lot of money back into the economy.
It’s about values. Two cents with the millionaires and billionaires, or invest that money in every one of our children and in growing our economy.
Interview with John Harwood on CNBC. It’s good to know how completely invested in magical thinking she is. It makes it even easier to fear and despise her.
Harwood, of course, does an excellent job of standing flatfooted and openmouthed, watching the slow hanging lobs land, instead of blasting them back across the net.
She frightens me. Honestly.
It’s about crashing the economy and destroying everyone’s wealth.
Equality!!
Somehow I don’t think Warren would be happy if every super billionaire voluntarily started a foundation where they gave 2% of their wealth away to people they thought deserved a hand up.
Sort of like Shark Tank, but for poor people. You’d show up and the rich people would hear you out and then give you money or not. Some young parents might get some child care $$ so they could go back to school, but some single moms might get nothing because they had demonstrated that any extra money would be wasted on them.
Nope. I think that Warren wouldn’t like that idea at all. Mostly because then she wouldn’t have any power. The power to punish the rich, or the power to reward voters who kept her in office.
if you made it big, I mean really big, I mean top one 10th of 1% big, good for you.
She needs to take a tip from AOC and say “Tipie Tops”
I think she does sometimes.
they’re going to pay about 7.2% of their total wealth in taxes. The top one-tenth of 1%, those top millionaires and billionaires, fortunes above $50 million, they’re going to pay less than half that, about 3.2%
Also i’m not about to give this up. You can go fuck yourself. Taxation is theft and what you are talking about is straight up appropriation of peoples property for having the temerity to save and invest. the top 1% pay 80% of the Federal Income Taxes. Hows that for “Inequality”, but no it’s never enough for you, you fucking wendigo. You need to start sucking the wealth of the people dry.
If they were arguing to it over to orphans and widows, it’d still be wrong, but at least they’d have an argument. But they’re talking about pumping it into the federal leviathan. Why the hell should I or anyone want that?
You left out ‘thundercunt’
7.2% of zero for a lot of those people.

FLASHBACK: Sandy Koufax mocks hitter and quickly gets shut down. Not one of the pitcher’s finer moments.
Appeal! Looks like Mr. Ed missed touching third base.
He definitely left the base line.
Another glittering jewel of insight:
John Harwood: But you’re not worried that the scale of all of this is going to have big unintended consequences?
Elizabeth Warren: Well, I think the intended consequences here are pretty clear. When you don’t have just one place or two places that you can buy seed from, there’s more competition in the industry. When you don’t just have one place where you can sell your pork products, there’s more competition in the industry and the individual farmer, the independent farmer, the family farmer has a better chance to make it in this economy. And we could replicate that through one (industry) after another.
This really is a fundamental question about how you think the economy works best. Ronald Reagan argued, starting back in 1980, the way it’ll work best is let the rich and powerful get all the tax cuts they want and basically deregulate them — take the cop off the beat so they can kind of get out and do whatever they want. We saw what happened when the banks did that in 2008. They crashed the economy and of course they weren’t so interested in free market then. They wanted to bail out. The problem of course, is that’s not working to grow the economy.
Got that? The banking system in this country was completely unregulated in 2008, and that’s how the banks destroyed our economy. Nobody this
dumbdishonest should be allowed anywhere near a position of responsibility. What a breathtaking intellect.
Nobody needs 23 kinds of places you can buy seed.
I want to see an economy that works for everyone. Ultimately, I think that’s an economy that’s more sustainable and an economy where we’re going to see more growth.
Can I give you one example around that? Child care. When we say to mamas that you can get good high-quality child care paid for because the billionaires are going to put in a little bit more, think how much productivity that unleashes in our economy. How many mamas will say, “You know, if I know I’m going to get good high-quality child care and it’s not going to eat up my whole paycheck, sign me up. I’m ready to go to work”? Think how much more money that puts into local economies. Those federal dollars that we then put into child care, that’s money into little communities all across Iowa, all across this country.
Mama power!
Sounds legit.
Reading all that in her voice gives me the willies. Imma go get me a beer!
This is the same thinking that truly believes that every single mom out there was knocked up by a doctor, lawyer or IT billionaire. If they just pass a law with some real teeth to lock up any baby daddy who isn’t paying up, money will just roll in to those moms. Then in reality you discover you are locking up a ton of dads who are part of the working poor who miss a child support payment because they needed to repair their truck or something.
Yup. Every woman staying at home with their kids would easily get a six figure job in some Ally McBeal firm. Iowa would be awash in money!
Oh, you propose to NOT lock up the Dads? Why, you monster. What are all the courts, lawyers, and jailers going to do without prisoners?
Those empty beds wont fill themselves, Mister. And I further suppose you dont want those locked up to provide labor? Who will cook for the jail? Do the laundry? Janitorial? Hell….wash the cop cars. You cant expect those union guys actually employed by the jail to do all that?
What this economy needs is some far left socialist claptrap couched in a folksy, condescending vernacular!
^^
A Face in the Crowd is never irrelevant to American politics.
Those federal dollars that we then put into child care, that’s money into little communities all across Iowa, all across this country.
You’ve got the Federal Funding, you can add another wing….
Think how much more money that puts into local economies

Why do you hate the American worker in the heartland, Rhywun?
Because I’m not an American worker in the heartland, duh.
Because he gets his food at the grocery store, not the heartland.
When we say to mamas that you can get good high-quality child care paid for because the billionaires are going to put in a little bit more, think how much productivity that unleashes in our economy.
I’m going to guess little or none. Because those billionaires won’t be putting their money into the sort of capital formation that would have allowed the “mama” to increase her productivity. And, instead of having the “mama” having her family watch her kid during her shift, which she’s doing now anyway, she’ll be carting them off to failed government schools.
How is the way government schools are run better than having kids work? I’m not talking sweatshop work, but I’m sure you could come up with something where even little kids could learn skills at the same time as they get some exposure to providing value to their fellow man.
If we didn’t have such a shit media someone would force her to explain her plan — is it setting up govt daycares? Is it direct govt payments to already eisting daycare facilities?– and how is it better than already existing tax breaks for child care? And if her plan is so awesome why doesn’t she introduce it in the Senate right now? Why wait until she doesn’t have the ability to introduce legislation anymore?
(which is part of the overall problem with all the Congresscritters running with all these grandiose plans as if they’re going to become Emperor, not president)
“When we say to mamas that you can get good high-quality child care paid for because the billionaires are going to put in a little bit more, think how much productivity that unleashes in our economy.”
What the fuck is she talking about?
Billionaires will pay less taxes than ever and the middle class will be wearing the yoke, as always. She really needs to go lay on a RR track.
Nice to see bipartisanship in order to reverse this alarming trend.
I had to get a good buzz on to even type this. Super long time lurker, literally years at TOS and here since the Glibbening. I have commented exactly 1 time. Cashews aren’t quite keto, but they are delicious and remain stocked in the pantry. The farmers market across the street fresh roasts them. Happiness is warm nuts.
(Yes, I know, they’re not nuts, you freaking pedants.)
I love cashews, but no, not low-carb. Also, too many does not-nice things to my innards.
I switched cashews up with macadamias.
MMmmm. Cashews. I ‘eat around’ my mixed nuts so I can save the cashews for when I have dark chocolate.
That, or just go out and splurge on the macadamias (But the prices are insane now!)
That is a lot of euphemisms in one post.

Can’t blame you. Weirdly, ESPN+ is a fraction of the price and IIRC it includes all the content from ESPN. Plus, you know, a shit-ton more. I would love to drop cable but won’t work yet.
