I’m mailing it in guys. Its like my religion, or something. Have a great weekend.
Florida Women — They start young here.
I guess I don’t understand how you can own your mobile home but rent the land… Also, if these homes are so mobile, what’s the big deal? Finally, six months is a fuckton of notice for closing down a trailer park.
Unless these guys were into auto-erotic asphyxiation or extreme ice play, I doubt they died doing what they loved.
Its one thing to be gay, but this is absolutely beyond civil discourse. Pete Buttigieg is a Phish fan.

I thought most mobile home parks worked that way.
They do
Buttgeig? Who would vote for a name like that?
Douchebags?
President Douchebag.
First line in the story.
I loves me some impartial journalism.
Eh, it’s Consequence of Sound, not journalism at all
Wha..? THE NO. 1 SOURCE FOR BREAKING MUSIC AND FILM HEADLINES doesn’t do hard hitting unbiased political reporting?
Phish is playing a concert nearby in Berkeley tomorrow. The wife has been pushing me for us to go, but I hate the venue, Cal’s Greek Theater, an outdoor general admission venue which seems to actively discourage handicapped people and has all concrete, flat bench seating. The closest handicap parking is over a mile away, there is no elevator anywhere in the site, no handicap access bathrooms, and only very steep stone staircases between all of the tiers. The top level is wet grass and mud at a 45-degree angle, so if you come late you are forced to slide in mud while fighting gravity for the entire show
Indeed, the city of Berkeley, woke as it is supposed to be, seems the most anti-handicap city in the nation. Almost no handicap parking spots. Any request for handicap accommodation is met with “everyone gets the same consideration, we don’t give out extra privileges just because you think you’re special — everyone is special in their own way”.
Something about the date being 4/20 as the reason for the concert, perhaps that refers to Buttgeig’s birthday?
You’re a middle-aged white guy. You’re privleged, not handicapped.
Spud and I saw Phil and Friends there. Opening act was Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. He was so bad that he couldn’t even hold the attention of the stoners. After a very painful hour with no end in sight, Spud got up on his seat and yelled, “SHOW US YOUR TITS!”
Wow. You are senile. That was Jethro Tull at the Concord Pavilion and the opening act was some chick singing about spiders.
Bull. It was the J. Giles Band at the Rockford Metro Center, and I mooned them.
Only concert I ever went to at the CP. We wandered up to the back of the venue for totally innocent reasons and found people hiding in the shadows smoking…cigarettes.
That happened to me at Ravinia, coincidentally also seeing Jethro Tull, but that time I was with LJ Slavin, who has graced Old Guy Music several times, and will again.
That the J. Giles Band are not in the Rock Hall of Fame is the greatest injustice of our time.
The J. Giles Band is the greatest injustice of our time.
You misspelled “The Beach Boys”
Name a better straight up driving boogie song than “(Ain’t nothing but a) House Party”
True fact.

Alcohol is in charge now.
J Geils still sucks.
Beach Boys are fantastic.
It was a good Friday after all. I’m gonna head down to the bar for a cocktail or three.
You did it there, too. It sure wasn’t Mr. S standing up and yelling it at The Greek.
I will be elected president before any of the pinkos beat Trump.

I’m in.
I assume that’s pronounced “boochie”?
Were the girls all named “Heather”?
To all the girls named Heather I’ve loved before,
Who traveled in and out my door….
To all the girls I’ve loved before,
Who sucked and fucked then out the door,
I’m glad they came along,
To please my schlong,
To all the girls I’ve loved before.
To all the girls I’ve kissed before,
Who sucked on where I pissed before,
I’m glad they came my way,
To drink my splay,
To all the girls I’ve kissed before.

I was in a road band and with all of the driving, there was plenty of time to rewrite song lyrics.
The fourth line doesn’t scan. You need to add the word “tiny” to it.
Ha!
I predict fawning stories about Buttglug’s “husband” will not actually make him more popular among the general electorate.
The husband changed his last name to Buttigieg. That’s crazy on several levels.
I guess we know who wears the pants.
That’s not at all carefully-constructed messaging.
I plan to tease my Republican Phish loving neighbor mercilessly about this.
BREAKING: POT-SMOKING REPUBLICAN NOT LIBERTARIAN
According to the county, the park’s wastewater package plant has been failing for some time and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection took them to court.
A judge made the ruling to close the park.
Who would have guessed there might be problems with putting septic systems on land where the water table is six inches below the surface?
Well, shit…
Wastewater package plant? Where they selling it?
There is a small trailer park in Bozeman which is closing down. It has been there a long time, and suddenly, unexpectedly, somebody wants to put that land to a more profitable use. None of the trailers will be accepted in another park (in the unlikely event an available spot could be found), because they are too old.
But everybody in Bozeman is very very concerned about affordable housing.
“Tiny houses” are trailers for hipsters.
And they’re usually not cheap.
Not compared to actual mobile homes. Actual mobile homes are more likely to be handicapped accessible and meet building codes (why the old ones can’t be accepted elsewhere). But, yeah, tiny homes will fix homelessness.

Now that Kate Smith is verboten does that mean the Marx Brothers are too? Groucho namedrops “That’s why darkies were born” in Duck Soup.
I don’t see why not. If any one of them ever had an impure thought, the lot of them need to be memory-holed. And several generations before them and after them, just to be safe.

Paywalled. And I really wanted to read those 3,850 comments, too.
That’s why I have 5-6 browsers installed on each of my computers.
I’ll TL;DR the comments for you:
LALALALALALA!!! I CAN’T HEAR YOU! COLLUSION! CORRUPTION! REEEEE!!!!
His article was completely ignored by most.

Time to purge Randolph Scott. And Cary Grant too…
Whatever happened to him?
He is revered.
Razorfist just called Trump the Roadrunner, he lurks!!
Another of my favorite YouTuber linked a video I saw here as well. Both are right leaning libertarians(or maybe libertarian leaning rightists). .. like most the folks here.
Lyle Talbot appeared in Al Jolson movies. Time to purge him and his kids too:

“In Soviet Union we dont wonder what the future is. We know what the future is. It is the past that is always changing.”
-Old Soviet joke.
Random growler question for Nephilium, etc – didn’t really think about this last year when I got the growlers (late Oct, etc) – due to cool temps…but if I were to go get a Growler filled now and it’s warm outside…and then want to catch a movie or something (and leave it in the car) – are high temps a big deal if it’s not in direct sunlight or is it worse than bottled beer, etc?
I could bring a cooler I guess, but is it really necessary…if I were to get it filled, might wait till after flicks and before I go get dinner, etc, but it would still be in the car for a few hours counting travel time.
I’ve always heard UV is worse than heat, but I still like to keep my growlers cold. Wifey bought me a double growler cooler. Soft sided, relatively cheap, and keeps them cold for hours. Well worth it.
Stick a couple icepacks in the freezer tonight. Got it.
We have a shitload of icepacks from my wife’s O ring birth control. They get shipped with five or six of them. They refreeze forever and we use them instead of cubes in our coolers.
My aunt’s a vet and always has has lots of leftover ones from medication shipments, etc.
Use double-walled stainless growlers and use a soft-sided insulated case to carry and transport them. Freeze packs as necessary for extended time in car.
More for storing/serving than transport, but I’ve got a couple of Growlerwerks 64 ouncers. Two thumbs up.
Work was a bit slow today. Went down the youtube rabbit hole.
Enjoy the conservation of a portrait by the English painter Cornelius Janssens.
Probably a racist homophobic slave-owner. Fuck him and his paintings.
I’m completely captivated by this video.
Great video. The Federalist had an interview with an art restore recently. My favorite bit:
“KG: Because in art restoration, you can’t really have your own artistic style develop. That’s why when people ask me, “Are you an artist?” I have to say, “No.” Academically, yes: I can paint anything. But not in my style.
You have to tell me, “I want you to paint a painting in Rubens’ style,” or “I want you to paint a painting in Matisse’s style,” and that I’m able to do. My own? No. Of course you can’t entirely avoid having some of your own style in art restoration, but not very much. You can’t really cultivate it.”
The quiet badasses of the art world.
Think I tweeted directly about this article earlier this week, but in this case, I’d say the comments are worth it in terms of perspective.

That’s what Tricare does.
Just give VA eligible people Tricare
Technically yes – the coverage would be fine under those circumstances – ensuring that the gov’t pays the costs, etc – for those under retirement status, disability, etc.
Also, I’ve been seeing more and more about how the “opioid crisis” story is proportionately detrimental towards vets – Stossel has mentioned it as well as other folks at NRO, etc. The Remnant podcast on the topic didn’t really bring in vets, but contextually it fills in a lot of gaps.
https://www.nationalreview.com/podcasts/the-remnant-with-jonah-goldberg/episode-93-confronting-the-opioid-crisis/
I was there the next morning. No one had called to let anyone know that all appointments had been cancelled while they had a facility-wide CYA meeting…
Sounds about right. That would have involved working.
The wait got to him
Anyone that thinks the VA is about medical care for veterans is nuts.

“‘Still alive!’: Notre Dame’s 180,000 bees survive cathedral fire
Notre Dame Cathedral’s bees, kept in hives on the historic church’s roof, survived the fire earlier this week, the beekeeper says.
“I am so relieved. I saw satellite photos that showed the three hives didn’t burn. I thought they had gone with the cathedral,” beekeeper Nicolas Geant told the Associated Press on Friday.
The 180,000 bees live in three hives on Notre Dame’s roof as part of an effort since 2013 to help prevent bee die-off.”

Well, that’s a bit of cheery news.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/mueller-didnt-charge-trump-—-but-his-report-is-a-brutal-indictment/ar-BBW66nY?ocid=spartanntp
“Taken in sum, Mueller’s findings reveal three years of actions by Trump and his subordinates that critics say rattle the very foundations of the American system of governance, from the sacrosanct nature of democratic elections to the idea that no man, not even the president, is above the law.”
Except Bill Clinton.
The report isn’t even a bump in the road to these people. If anything, they’re doubling down.
And you expected?
I opened up the Edge browser earlier because for some reason Zillow won’t work right on Brave and that story was flung in my face by the “new tab” screen.
If the report was a damning indictment, there’d be more indictments and they’d actually be collusion related. Its obviously a nothingburger since nothing else happened.
This subject raises my blood pressure.

*affordable housing
“Somebody oughtta do something. Someplace out of sight, preferably far away.”
“With someone else’s money!”
The fact that “affordable housing” means one thing to some people, and something entirely different to other people, doesn’t help.
In my city, it means handing out contracts to connected developers and then handing out apartments at artificially-reduced rates to the correct voters, all while telling everyone else to fuck off no you can’t build anything.
I remember listening to NPR (musta ben awhile ago) lamenting the lack of “affordable” housing in Maine. I was driving outside of Bangor at the time. The homes were a couple hundred yards apart along the highway. Were they “affordable”? I dunno but each had a wood pile bigger than the house and I’d bet the house was, in cost, between the truck and the snow mobile (maybe) parked out front.
The proggies will never be happy.
*Pitches tent*
Affordable enough for ya?
End zoning. Problem solved.
“Neuroscience shows that 50-year-olds can have the brains of 25-year-olds if they sit quietly and do nothing for 15 minutes a day”
Lazar and her team wanted to make sure this wasn’t because the long-term meditators had more gray matter to begin with, so they conducted a second study. In it, they put people with no experience with meditation into an eight-week mindfulness program.
The results? Even just eight weeks of meditation changed people’s brains for the better. There was thickening in several regions of the brain, including the left hippocampus (involved in learning, memory, and emotional regulation); the TPJ (involved in empathy and the ability to take multiple perspectives); and a part of the brainstem called the pons (where regulatory neurotransmitters are generated).
Plus, the brains of the new meditators saw shrinkage of the amygdala, a region of the brain associated with fear, anxiety, and aggression. This reduction in size of the amygdala correlated to reduced stress levels in those participants.”

So speaking of Kate Smith. Apparently they are “investigating” the racism of a woman who has been dead for 33 years. Also are they going to purge the guys who wrote the songs? Henderson and Brown were quite famous in their time.
I guess they can play the National Anthem, because it is a British tune, but they need to stop singing the words because author Francis Scott Key was an out and out racist and his family owned slaves and were proud of it.
Don’t worry the Star Spangled Banner is next.
“Nusrat Jahan Rafi: Burned to death for reporting sexual harassment
Nusrat Jahan Rafi was doused with kerosene and set on fire at her school in Bangladesh. Less than two weeks earlier, she had filed a sexual harassment complaint against her headmaster.
Her courage in speaking out against sexual assault, her death five days after being set alight and everything that happened in-between has gripped Bangladesh and brought attention to the vulnerability of sexual harassment victims in this conservative South Asian country.
Nusrat, who was 19, was from Feni, a small town 100 miles (160km) south of Dhaka. She was studying at a madrassa, or Islamic school. On 27 March, she said the headmaster called her into his office and repeatedly touched her in an inappropriate manner. Before things could go any further she ran out.
Many girls and young women in Bangladesh choose to keep their experiences of sexual harassment or abuse secret for fear of being shamed by society or their families. What made Nusrat Jahan different is that she didn’t just speak out – she went to the police with the help of her family on the day the alleged abuse happened.
At the local police station she gave a statement. She should have been provided with a safe environment to recall her traumatic experiences. Instead she was filmed by the officer in charge on his phone as she described the ordeal.
In the video Nusrat is visibly distressed and tries to hide her face with her hands. The policeman is heard calling the complaint “no big deal” and telling her to move her hands from her face. The video was later leaked to local media.”

Well, at least there’s something of a national outrage over it, instead of a collective “Well, this is how we do things here.” Hopefully it will move the needle a little.
Aren’t you the optimist.
What we should do is import one million young men from there to our country because ‘diversity’.
The report isn’t even a bump in the road to these people. If anything, they’re doubling down.
Trump is not yet in jail. What additional proof do we need that he obstructed justice?
Trump obstructed justice just by winning the election.
Hillary was supposed to win. That she didn’t win is an injustice. Trump is why she didn’t win, so he obstructed the justice her victory would have represented.

Damn 1970s prudes. We are so much better.
I was in a road band and with all of the driving, there was plenty of time to rewrite song lyrics.
Every time I hear that goddam Doors song, it comes through as
her name is Aphrodite
and she dosen’t wear a nightie
So I read Me by Katharine Hepburn and she didn’t mind blackface when she was a kid 100 years ago. Time to purge her?
And what about Ida Lupino? When she was a kid she staged a performance which included another kid in blackface. Purge her too.
Christ what a tedious blankety-blank.
Better round up those copies of pre-codes while you can before our new Woke Joe Breens institute their Woke Production Code.
All of this purging is being done by people who cant shut up about race.
Introspection, what is it?
Said woke people now think racial segregation is good, miscegenation is bad, think slavery makes blacks unable to truly live in America, think “white culture” is a thing and that it should never be influenced by black culture. Gee who does that sound like?
“Yep, I think & have said (on actions revealed in this report!) Trump has bad judgment & lies. But unlike some, I don’t think facts are untrue bc Pres might like them. We had investigation. Lack of conspiracy matters, given the opposite treated as a foregone conclusion for 2 yrs.”

heres the thing: you dont have to be a liberal to be against a rogue president working with a foreign power to undermine your country’s elections. in fact, you shouldn’t have to be. this is the kind of thing a small govt conservative should be able to abhor. but they dont care.”

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Whiteness
Steve Bannon has a mountain lair in Europe. It was suggested to me that it’s some sort of Nazi Hogwarts.
“Youre a Nazi, Harry,” Bannonogle said, his flesh jangling, his breath noxious with the odor of a thousand alt-right souls.
“Expecto whiteum,” Hermione Lahren proclaimed as Harry walked into Bannonogle’s bizarre European compound.
“Western civilization is saved,” screeched Tucker Racegood, head of Fox House.
“The muggles are bringing crime,” Professor Trump explained, orange smear rubbing off on Harry’s cloak. “Some are good but most are rapists. Very bad!”
“The white boy who lived,” Obamavort grumbled, looking at Harry through his Deep Magic State pensieve.
“You must participate in the Tri-K Grand Wizard Tournament,” Professor Bannonogle insisted. “It’s the only way to keep the bloods pure from the brown and black bloods.””

That’s hilarious.
“Idea “collusion” is solely Trump’s/Barr’s word & wasn’t used constantly, often irresponsibly, by media & politicians (& all of you responding to me) for 2 yrs as shorthand for “criminal conspiracy to knowingly collude w foreign power to tip election” is nonsense gaslighting. Stop”

Nice, works on a couple different levels.
What I am hearing is a lot of ‘you cant prove a negative’.
That’s right, we didn’t find any evidence that Trump colluded but you cant prove he didn’t!
Good Christ these people are tedious and tiresome.
“Neuroscience shows that 50-year-olds can have the brains of 25-year-olds if they sit quietly and do nothing for 15 minutes a day”
Considering how much time I spend sitting around doing nothing, I should have the brain of a ten year old.
Oh, wait- I do have the brain of a ten year old.
Am I doing it wrong if my silent 15 minutes of sitting and doing nothing includes bourbon?
I just sit around thinking about twenty-five year olds.

Huh almost like liberals have always had a history of being illiberal and the horrors of modern progs have long roots.
And how many of them became victims of their own reign of terror?
This was passed less than two months before Thermidor which saw the proposer put to the guillotine.

Okay there is a serious issue that I need an answer to.
I have checked the htermostat, and it didn’t help.
Since I put the m.2 SSD in, the computer has taken literal minutes to POST, then almost as much time to boot into the OS.
I mean waiting for the maching to post, I had to time get annoyed, wander into the kitchen, look in the fridge, check out the window, go back to the desk, get annoyed, pick up the laptop, close fifteen or so tabs with the trackpad, shut down the laptop, and get annoyed again.
This is not the sort of performance I’m supposed to be seeing. What could be causing it/how can it be fixed?
Is it doing some sort of disk check that early in the process? Beyond that, my first thought would be that the SSD may be malfunctioning.
Before the POST report appears on the monitor? I don’t know, but it seems odd.

She seems nice.
Good Lord, that is a heapin’ helpin’ of crazy right there.
Hell hath no fury like etc.
That’s no shit. I turned down an extremely attractive woman once. It was painful to do but geeez, I was married and my wife was pregnant. It’s one thing to cheat on your wife, which I never did, and entirely another to cheat on a pregnant wife. I turned her down with plenty o’ disclaimers and explanations. You would think she would understand, but she hated me and never spoke to me again. I ran into her in a restaurant 15 years later and she still wouldn’t speak to me. Good grief.
You would think she would understand, but she hated me and never spoke to me again.
Yeah, that’s some grade A crazy right there. Dodged a bullet, you did.

I imagined her entire tweetstorm as happening between sobs as she shoveled pint after pint of rocky road down her gullet and her 7 cats sulked in the corner.
It seemed to capture the scene.
Meh, Checking her TL and website, she seems fairly sane, got some issues, but who doesn’t? Well within the acceptable crazy/hot matrix.
*makes note to never accept date suggestions from Hyp*
She’s a classic man-hater as her journalistic folio shows in painstaking detail. She’s a walking false rape accusation waiting to happen.
Double Meh, I read the “I’m never cooking food for a man again” essay that seems to be the crux of her man-hating reputation, found it fairly reasonable, she was in a shit relationship, decided it sucked, wrote an essay with some broad generalizations and unlikely ultimatums, *shruggy thing*

“Taylor Swift as the redacted Mueller report: a thread”
https://twitter.com/ohcauseshesdead/status/1119050035474264065
I dont get it.
I have heard the name Taylor Swift a lot, I have seen a few photos of her but the truth is I have no idea what she does. Is she an actress? Or just one of those ridiculously attractive people who is famous for being famous?
Singer started in the pop country genre and migrated to generic teenie pop.
Well that explains my ignorance.
She the one who briefly flirted with conservatism until the twitter mob tried to destroy her over it?
Maybe? IIRC, she posted some “above the fray” tweet and the feminazis blitzkrieged her until she posted something sufficiently woke.
Yup. She didn’t immediately contract TDS, so they were out to get her.
I think they turned on her because white supremacists wanted to breed superbabies with her.
I forgot about that. Just one more proof that I’m a Nazi.
You must live under a rock!
Used to live above me. Not that attractive…at all.
Lies!
Ah, no. Adelica, Nashville. Rode the elevator with her. Worked out next to her. Spoke to her several times when her mother didn’t snarl too loudly. She is a nice, semi-talented, slightly attractive (to me) woman. I had much more attractive neighbors like Juianne Hough, and Jessie Baylin. Funny stories about both, but well, that’s private.
Sorry,. meant Lily Aldridge. Jessie..that’s another story

I’m sad it wasn’t really him speaking, that’d be much more impressive.
The climbers died doing something they loved. That moment was absolutely shock and “oh shit”; but as climbers they knew the risks involved. I climbed serious climbs for several decades, almost got the chop several times and had friends who died climbing. That never stopped my friends and my love of climbing. It is hard sport to explain, especially serious ice climbing.
Unless there is objective risk to the public closing the park makes no sense to me. Corpses from falls bear no special risk to others. I met Roskelly’s father years ago. I think he captured pretty well the sadness of those who cared for dead.
“Corpses from falls bear no special risk to others.”
Double entendre? One true, the other not so much.
I think it was Carlin that had a bit about the ‘dying doing something you love’ thing. Made the case that dying in the middle of something you hate (an IRS audit was the example IIRC) would be preferable.
I met Jess when a friend introduced him as a potential contract welder/inspector for my shop. He seemed like a good guy and had an interesting business developing. As a mountain/back-country snowmobiler avalanches are always at the back of my mind and the thought of being buried is not very comforting. With mountain climbing I would assume blunt forced trauma would be more likely than suffocation.
It sounds like the closure was due to avalanche danger.
Watched three teams drag each other over a 700 foot fall on Mt. Hood in the 80’s. That was my last ice climb.
On my brother’s second attempt at Denali the idiot he was with got his feet tangled in the ropes and fell off the edge. Brother dug his ice axe into the ground in an attempt to slow the fall. He told me, “You know that story about how your whole life flashes in front of your eyes when you’re dying? It’s true.”
He stopped the drop at the last moment and lived to tell the tale. Ten years later he made it on the third try.
