See? We do plan here at Glib HQ. Sorta.
I will point out that, as always, there is a nice mix of contributing writers and topics coming up this week, not that you can see the topics because I’m pressed for time and that’s all the coming attraction info you are getting! Deal with it.
You may now proceed to treat this post as you do all others…as an open post! Have a great evening, Glibs.
Best line-up on the web!
Ooooo Tue. night looks promising!
MLW’s Woke Charmed is quickly becoming one of my favorite reads. Her style of humor works well for me.
She can turn simple descriptions into great snark.
It’s a gift. She doesn’t like to talk about it much.
I need to revisit that.
I’ve never watched “Charmed.” How necessary is that for appreciation of MLW’s work?
Watching is unnecessary. In fact, much like a movie sometimes ruins a book, you might be better off not watching. It allows allows you to use you’re imagination.
You are not imagination, thank you very much.
You know . . I saw that as I was hitting post. I assumed like most good people, no one would point it out, but instead laugh behind my back like classy people. That’s my fault too, I shouldn’t have expected so much.
You know I have a thing about apostrophe abuse, don’t you?
It’s a severe violation of the NAP.
I got called out for misspelling farrier by like four people a couple weeks ago. These typo tyrants are ruthless.
We are harsh, but fair, MLW. ??
Not necessary at all. She is very thorough.
Frankly, I’m shocked and horrified at the thought of watching it. It likely would ruin my perception. I’d kinda like to see it with MLW and her sister in silhouette like those aliens on that one show, offering commentary. THAT I could prolly watch!
I think it would help to first read Woke Charmed: Who the [redacted] Are All These People? @
glibertarians.com/2019/05/woke-charmed-who-the-hell-are-all-these-people/ Also, do not confuse the current version (only season 1 so far) with Charmed (1998-2006). As for watching the current Charmed…I think it best to take advantage of Mythical Libertarian Woman and her sister continue running the risk of brain damage and not risking it yourself.
That’s good advice. Also, keep your favorite booze handy for real dialog alerts. It’s incredible people are paid to write this.
Oh I could write shit that I could never say with a straight face. I guess that means I’m not an actor.
#DreamJob
Kinda surprised that hash tag hasn’t been abused….Or, has it?
Yayyy, I’m glad you all appreciate it because I’m suffering through it right now for you. 😛
A true Artist must suffer.
Thank you for translating it into human for us.
All hail the Empress of Derp!
Snarktastic funtime.
I need to get some stuff wrtten up for contribution…
So do I….
Why yes, you both do.
Trashy wrote mine on regulation earlier; nice job: saved me a lot of ink
Glad you liked it. It was a weird combination of playing devil’s advocate and intentionally writing toward weaknesses in my own personal beliefs. The SLDs series is an interesting exercise that I’d recommend to all of you.
Close to having one ready. A pic and some links.
You are much farther along than I am, and I should have some time coming available in the next few weeks.
I have a screed on other drivers’ habits/mistakes that really triggger the road rage. I could write it down, but you all know already… unless you’re one of those people who try to merge onto the interstate at 20 MPH slower than the traffic you’re trying to merge with… in case I’d like a word with you.
It’s those goddamned Colorado cloverleaf on-ramps!
Since CPRM
practically begged measked me so nicely, I will submit for an article on wearing his new merch around, and, giving a rundown on the products themselves.NewWife is out of town this week

Glibs . . . . . Glibs . . . . . Glibs . . .
I’ll post Thu-Fri later.
I will be . . . busy . . . during most of this week (through ’til next Sunday afternoon, actually).
Moving sucks, but not as much as preparing to move.
The good part is that the objective is worth it. I’ve been counting the minutes.
Edmonton, here we come!
Ugh, sorry. Hope all goes well.
Between the planning and greasing of palms (first time in our married life that we paid for what’s called a “full pack” from a moving company [and it sounds kinda kinky]), it should be OK. We’ll see. I have some delicate merchandise (like studio strobe lights, worth a small fortune) that they have to pack intelligently, but since they fully-insure everything that they pack . . .
That seems to be a recurring theme with Glibs – the problem of moving the lab, studio, whatever.
Good luck.
Hiring other people to move you is the smartest thing you can do, if you can afford it. Nine months ago I got a new place. I wanted the 3rd floor for views and whatnot. Realized my mistake as I was humping shit up three flights of stairs (no elevator).
This week, I bought 3 new large pieces of furniture; the couch was the smallest piece. $60 dollar delivery fee and $20 tip=best $80 ever spent.
I have never met anyone looking forward to moving to Edmonton.
Already lived there, so we both know what we’re getting into. Cost of living is around 20 to 25% less than the Lower Mainland, gasoline is around 40% less, and if you like cultural activities, nothing in Canada can beat Edmonton (although there are places that can more-or-less match it). It has more live theatre and music venues per capita than any other major Canadian city, and the largest urban forest in North America. Its one major drawback is the winters (the summers are amazing, and it’s a four-month-long arts and music festival as well). Our selling of the Lower Mainland house is gonna finance the next 15 years or so of awesome escapes from the worst of winter.
Three months in the south of Spain, anyone? ;-)
Nice. I know Calgary has gotten stupid expensive. My sis got out but both my niece and nephew still reside there. You should look for a winter home in PHX like all the other Canadians.
I’d be happy with renting, actually — we have the opportunity to get some property in Normandy, but like Phoenix, it’s a long ways away and difficult to get reliable help to take care of it while we’re not there. We’ve got friends who own property in Normandy that live just across the Channel in Britain, and know others who’ve bought in Hawai’i, Spain, Portugal and Italy, and they’ve all said the same thing to us — “Don’t buy, just rent.”
Good enough for me. As I age, I want fewer encumbrances, like when I was a Uni student. I’m just visiting this planet.
As for Calgary being stupid-expensive, that’s news to me. We left Calgary in October of 2014, and the Federal Liberals along with the recently-ousted provincial NDP managed to spray economic insecticide all over the province, damn near grinding the economy to a halt. Calgary’s house prices have tanked, along with the cost-of-living, but if you’re a small business the blithering morons on Calgary city council have actually raised taxes on SMEs (in some cases, by more than 100%!) to try to make up for the collapse in value of all of those now-nearly-empty downtown office towers. That’s the ticket! — screw over small and medium businesses who are actually creating jobs to make up for lost tax revenue. Thousands of businesses have folded in the last five years. It’s ugly.
Fuck Mayor Nenshi with a flaming chainsaw.
Hmmm, maybe I am not so up on it as I think I am. I was under the impression that a starter home in Calgary still went for around $300 grand which to me is stupid expensive.
Well, the same “starter home” in the Lower Mainland’s pushing 1 million dollars, so it really depends on your reference point I guess. (Also, $300K CDN is around $226K USD, which is expensive for Kansas and almost insanely cheap for Sacramento.)
226k is a down payment here. Fucking metric system.
Have you considered moving to the free world? Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand (despite Jacinda Ardern’s best efforts), Singapore (if you’re not a political activist), and Switzerland
It helps that we have long-term friends in Edmonton (30+ years). My bro tried to convince me to move elsewhere in the Lower Mainland or onto Vancouver Island. My reply was simple: “Have all of my long-term friends moved there?”
I don’t have enough life left in me to make more 30+ year friends.
Oh, and BTW, I’m familiar with most of your examples of the “free world.” Whatever their attractiveness, they really don’t like immigrants much and have numerous rules to keep riff-raff such as us out. We have family in Switzerland, for instance, and they’ve told us — somewhat tongue-in-cheek — that we’d have to wait “a couple of generations” if we wanted to emigrate to Switzerland, the cost-of-living of which makes the Lower Mainland of B.C. look positively cheap by comparison. We’re moving to get more economic opportunities, not less.
Agreed. “Freedom is not free.” Or cheap. And consider the history (in the modern era of easy travel, not wooden sailing ships) of what happens to crime, freedom, etc. in “democracies” that open up their borders.
Indeed. The Caribbean has become a vast wasteland, where cannibal rape gangs roam the streets and the living envy the dead ever since the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy in 2009.
I thought you said you’ve never been to Kingston?
“Agreed. “Freedom is not free.” Or cheap.”
Not so. Everybody knows that freedom costs a buck ‘o five.
It’s buried in the sand
Sorry, ground. Something, something, if you remember it, you weren’t there.
“New Zealand (despite Jacinda Ardern’s best efforts),”
Listen to the first 40 minutes of this and see if you still feel the same: https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/theweekinreview/audio/2018698659/the-week-in-review-for-week-ending-fri-may-31-2019
Wrong place
Man, too much Irish whiskey: it’s in the right place.
Heh. The description sounds like a laundry list of woke.
The government was bragging it was the world’s first “well-being budget”
BTW, please to be not spoiling any Pies/Dees scores tomorrow – thank you, come again.
Noted. Good luck (sorry Baked Penguin).
I’m OK with the Demons. I’m not actually knowledgeable enough to know if I’m supposed to hate them.
Richmond can fuck right off, though.
FWIW: when I was in high school, Carlton/Collingwood = Red Sox/yankees
I like the scheduling format.
I can’t think of anything interesting to write about cuz no work/all play makes me a duller glib.
I’ve had a couple of articles in mind but it’s summertime and the cotton is high.
Fourscore,
There is a small but finite window opening that I might be able to visit your shindig in September. We were supposed to go to Alaska but may have to postpone for a year and a trip to the midwest might be an alternative.
That would be great!. I think many (most) of the MN glibs are gonna try to make it and hopefully MikeS and Kinnath. All are welcome. Third Sunday of Sep. Old classmates, locals and relatives will be in abundance.
We checked the bees yesterday, my partner’s looked pretty good though not much production yet. Mine got a late start after the bear setback but we’ll get some. The honey is secondary anyway. Weather has been cool, that may make a difference. Hope to see you.
I am hoping to make it. Won’t know for sure until later in the summer.
Hopefully, indeed. I’m going to do my best. It sounds like fun. If I do make it, I’m bringing some of my wife’s tater tot hotdish.
If we make it I’ll bring some NM green chile (and red for those who want it!)
Oooh! If you do make it up, some NM chiles would certainly sweeten the honey-pot.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/government-to-ban-single-use-plastics-by-2021-1.5168386
So nice to announce this after D-Day.
Also pot legalization and banning of cotton swabs. Where is Nick Gillespie?
Banning balloon sticks… but not balloons? Aren’t they also single-use?
And they deplete our limited supplies of helium too!
Balloons were a big source of anger at the high school grad this year. Families bringing in balloons to the ceremony blocked the view of everyone behind them. Who does that? They will be banned next year I am told.
They were banned at my daughter’s graduation a week ago. They did bag checks on the way in. But somehow parents with bunches of balloons walked right on in.
I can see one good use for airsoft toys in a case like this.
You’re saving the world. Relax in the warming glow of smugness.
Time to consider moving to the free world? Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand (despite Jacinda Ardern’s best efforts), Singapore (if you’re not a political activist), and Switzerland
Hong Kong won’t be so free if Xi gets his way…
Hong Kong has its own problems.
Australia? They are ahead of us on the descent into leftism.
If by us, you mean Glibs, OK. But if by us, you mean the Yanks…On human rights, CATO disagrees @ https://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/human-freedom-index-files/human-freedom-index-2018-revised.pdf On political rights, Freedom House disagrees @ https://freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/freedom-world-2018 On economic freedom, Heritage Foundation disagrees @ https://www.heritage.org/index/ranking Advance Australia Fair
I dunno. I find the antipodeans to be their own special brand of woke which doesn’t work for me. They definitely seem to be a cradle-to-grave welfare state. If I’m going to live dis-armed I’d rather do it in a number of other places – even if it means learning another language.
Yeah, if you moved to Australia you would have to learn a new language…
I wouldn’t put Hong Kong and Singapore in that stack. Hong Kong is doing what (little) they can existing firmly under the PRC’s thumb. Singapore is a drug warrior’s dream and imbued with cronyism down to the place where it is supposed to has a soul,
If their constitutions don’t recognize a private right to bear arms, no deal. Say what you will about the US, at least our government is betraying good principles.
Why do you come to our site to bitch about people who work and write for Reason. We. Don’t. Care.
Go there and complain about them.
What’s a “Reason?”
A dried grape? Oh, reason!
blockquote>Alexander lays out the case that thinking for ourselves is over-rated in most cases. In most cases, for most of us, good science and pseudoscience, good history and pseudohistory are going to be equally convincing. Bayesian logic suggests that sticking with mainstream experts and consensus thinking is a safer bet than rolling the dice on the Galileo Gambit
That wasn’t supposed to be a reply.
And I fucked up that post

Taleb said it better in Skin in the Game.
Judging by wiki Taleb seems to have issues with TOP MEN.
Indeed he does.
Not sure what your comment means? Taleb seems to disagree with what that article says or are you saying that Taleb phrases the basic concept better even though he disagrees with it?
The latter. Particularly his concept of “Intellectual Yet Idiot (IYI)”.
I don’t think you will get an answer.
Why do you come to our site to bitch about people who work and write for Reason. We. Don’t. Care.
Thanks Swiss. Nice to hear that coming from a Founder. My sentiments exactly.
What about condoms? Some Jersey towns are sick of them washing up on the beach. Who knows what turtles and other sealife think of them. On the other hand, if flushed after use, some sewage treatment plants say they clog the crap (!) out of their machinery, leading to fecal discharges into streams, etc. What to do with used condoms?
You don’t reuse yours?
Just turn them inside-out. Easy-peasy!
And it works multiple times! Win!
A good friend of mine works at a wastewater treatment facility. Condoms are public enemy number one. Mind you, when stuff gets clogged it’s not like it’s a stream of spring water with one empty, unrolled rubber bumping against a screen. Picture hell.
On the bright side, it pays well and you’ll never want for work.
That’s why I use Sheridan
sheep skin.
Aside from beach sex, and maybe landfill barge spills, aren’t the condoms washing up on the beach coming from being flushed?
Justin Amash sides with nobodies and crazy people.
I know there are 435 members of the House and most are nobodies, but other than Amash, the only people I have ever heard of on this short list are known for being idiots or worse.
It really lays the matter bare when you look at an actual list of the reps who would vote to impeach. It’s not gonna happen, and the only reason to cling to it is to score political points with the kind of people that position appeals to.
https://www.thepostmillennial.com/trudeau-government-supports-international-probe-into-allegations-canada-committed-genocide/
So Turdeau Jr. is admitting that he is the head of a government of a genocidal state and he wants an international investigation. WTF?
https://www.thepostmillennial.com/isis-no-canada-yes-trudeau-says-canada-is-committing-genocide-while-he-refused-to-say-the-same-about-isis/
Also ISIS wasn’t engaging in genocide but Canada is.
No one ever said he was intelligent, Winston.
It is awfully convenient how Canadian being a genocidal creation of European Imperialism still benefits the Canadian Government.
We all get the government we deserve and that includes Canada.
I do not deserve the idiots who represent my state and district. No one is that horrible, not even me.
Um yeah, you actually are.
Dude – they don’t even know you.
Well at least not in the Biblical sense. They’re WAY too old.
Say what you will, I’d still like to see Sinema nake… HEY, PUT THAT RUSTY TIN CAN LID DOWN!!!!
Dammit, this x1000
I do not feel that the person who represents the geographical area where I live is in any way representative of my political views.
And don’t get me started on the goddam 17th Amendment.
Tell me. I live in California.
TN09 Chickenman Cohen for the win !
The wife is invariably incensed by whatever the latest thing is that Trudeau said.
I gently remind her that JT’s an idiot, and she calms down.
Shrubbery has been tamed, lawn has been edged and mowed and I’m into my second Mule, before I reheat last night’s paella for dinner. A day of accomplishment.
Show off. I technically didn’t even leave the house today.
I made it outside twice to the 2nd story deck to grill and that was it. The tri tip was divine and the T-bones were juicy and delicious.
This was a day of redemption. I’ve been putting off pruning the shrubs. I still have a number of trees that need to be cleaned up for the season.
I can’t grow any food in my yard except berries. Not enough sun for most plants. However, in year 2 of living here, we’re getting quite a crop of raspberries from the early season. Late season is gonna be a bonanza!
I’m gonna miss these plants when we eventually move. Heck, maybe I’ll dig em out, depending on where we end up moving.
Fresh off the vine raspberries are so much better than store bought. It’s not even close.
All fruit is best when you’re standing in the garden eating it.
If you move, all you need to do is take a few canes with you. Every year, I have to do battle to contain the raspberries in the raised bed I have them in.
If you can grow raspberries, there should be some cool weather crops you can grow.
We used to live near a park in Vancouver where blackberries grew wild.
It was great. You just had to watch out for the bird shit.
We had a bank of blackberries growing in the back of the firehouse I worked out of. We’re talking 50’ long and 10’ high. We ate a lot of blackberry pies made from ten minute old berries.
watch out for copperheads in the lower 48: they lay up in berry plants and wait on the birds
Noted.
Those things are weeds in England.
Weeds in the Lower Mainland, too. I love blackberry pie.
30 years ago blackberries were the scourge of Seattle, all the freeways, etc, IOW, government owned/controlled property. Now there is a different scourge in Seattle on government controlled property and maybe harder to eliminate.
Starbucks franchises?
Aging crusties in flannel?
I think the homeless are eliminating quite well, based on the reports.
Same solution as blackberry vines- crossbow?
Rhy, are you learning from HM? ‘Cause, that’s a disturbing choice of words.
If you can grow raspberries, there should be some cool weather crops you can grow.
Probably could, but the raspberries take up all of the prime real estate, which is a 5’x25′ strip right next to the street that gets partial shade. I saved the best of the best spot for a couple grape vines and some container tomatoes and broccoli. Grapes are loving it, but the container plants are very stunted.
If I cared more about this house and thought we were gonna be here more than 5 years, I’d take down some trees to open up the backyard to gardening. As it is, I don’t want to put a penny more than necessary into this place.
We just ate a crap-ton of semi-wild strawberries out of our garden here. Y’know, the garden we’re leaving behind in a few days. **HEAVY SIGH**
When the Fraser Valley delivers, it really delivers. Unfortunately, it has so many endemic diseases (Early Blight, ladies and gentlemen! — give it a rip-roaring round of applause!) that it kills your plants about as often as it produces bountiful harvests. It’s maddening. I’m looking forward to growing tomatoes in Edmonton, which is one of the few places I’ve ever reliably grown ’em.
You’re moving to Deadmonton?
Gladly.
Mind you, I’d also rather have my eyes poked out with a sharp stick than continue living in the Lower Rainland™.
I’ve got a niece who calls it Deadmonton — she lived there for a couple of academic years while studying at NAIT. Her complaint was that you couldn’t visit anyplace “cool” (like the mountains or the sea) when she lived there, so there was “nothing to do.” I cracked my knuckles, pointed out to her that a single Google Maps search would’ve explained to her how Edmonton was nowhere near the sea or the Rockies, and then asked her when was the last time she visited either the sea or the mountains while she’s been back in the Lower Mainland.
Dead, embarrassed silence.
People like the idea of the ocean and the mountains, but the average wage-slave in B.C. almost never sees either of ’em.
I don’t live where I do for “cool” stuff. Never have.
You’re a wise d00d, mang.
Granted, I live in NYC, which a lot of people seem to think is “cool” – but I live here because I’m a city boy, I like the convenience, and the pay is great. I live in a distinctly uncool neighborhood and I haven’t done anything cool in years.
I could basically echo Rhywun except for Tokyo (actually a suburb of it) in place of NYC. Add to that my enjoyment of living in & knowing a culture different from the one I grew up in.
Funny – the minute I stop working I’m prepping the house for sale and moving the heck of the metro NYC area.
I’m not a city person. I’ll miss certain aspects of it, but it’s too many people for me.
I try to be charitable and believe that NYC has no more or less nasty people than anywhere else in the US, but when you have no choice but to interact with so many people in the course of day it means you are going to deal with a lot of jackasses.
OTH echoing Tejicano – because it would be a new experience and culture I could probably deal with being mashed in the the Marunochi Line at rush hour instead of the 6 Train. At least for a while, but I imagine that would get old too…
I guess. Or you could just ignore them. The best part is that neighbors ignore each other too, unless they choose otherwise.
For me personally it’s tough to do.
They are sitting behind me on the train playing videos at maximum volume without headphones. Standing in the middle of the subway steps not moving checking Instagram.
I don’t have the personality just ignore this stuff. I find it frustrating.
I get it. I haven’t given up on my belief that not being an asshole will win out in the end, though. Maybe I’m wrong, who knows.
Rhywun – I hope your right!
I do my best to treat others the same way I’d like to be treated and try to assume that others do the same.
Some days it ain’t easy however…
Alright, so you’re not the favourite uncle anymore.
Hope you’re not a Oilers fan. Otherwise, you’re in for a lot of disappointment.
Nah, the Oilers peaked in the mid-to-late 1980s.
Kinda like me. ;-)
So, are the Blues going to close it out tonight?
I hope so. Don’t like the Boston teams.
Ask the refs.
They’d better.
Western Conference (Stars; recording, will watch later)
Nice thicc lineup we got this week, looking forward to it. Hope this coming week goes well for y’all.
Marchand dirty rat.
I wish this was 1985 so some would pound that dirty rat into the ice.
True. But he’s a guy that you’d love to have on your team.
I take it we’ve completely ignored the disgraceful display by the USMNT against Venezuela. Hell even I didn’t watch the second half.
I was laughing at the incompetence. Enh, I take humor where I can find it.
Oh and I heard today the Gold Cup isn’t even going to have VAR. As much as a dumpster fire that can sometimes be… it doesn’t give me confidence that anyone is taking that competition very seriously.
When I first agreed to my wife that I would convert the trailer myself, for use in dog grooming I was happy. Keeps my hands busy, I get to use mental and physical tools, I get to create.
That was in the beginning. Finally fixed my plumbing woes; between mismatched hose connection sizes to leaks. Now time to start putting up shelving, finish electrical, relocate overhead lights, and a bunch more.
Ive been documenting it in hopes of getting something written up after we complete it. It is a fun and frustrating project and a ton of trips to Lowes, ACE, MacFaddens, trailer supply stores, and the beer market.

So Turdeau Jr. is admitting that he is a modern Hitler? I wish I was exaggerating.
We believe you. See upthread.
Well this is the Red Star a reliable Liberal organ pointing out some of the rather questionable outcomes of his admittance.
Nice. I have Something to look forward to on Friday.
No, no. My post is on Saturday, not Friday.
I’m on my second “Mule Named Barb”. Since you crushed my dreams of inventing a new drink, I figured I will name it.
Oh, and it’s fucking delicious.
Looks like I need to make some rhubarb syrup.
Place rhubarb in pot
Add enough water to cover rhubarb
Boil until rhubarb falls apart
Strain liquid
PROFIT!
You left out the part about stealing underwear, gnome.
You’ve definitely taken the lynx in a creative direction. Thumbs up on those things. That NYT article about the extremist YouTubers made me want to do the fade out thing at the beginning and do it with Glib avatars. Not sure who would be the last one standing.
Are you talking about their Friday or our Friday?
Guess it would depend on the time. “Something” is scheduled for the 14th.
Apparently, American Glibs do not consider Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand (despite Jacinda Ardern’s best efforts) or Singapore (if you’re not a political activist) to be freer than the United States or Canada. What about Switzerland, the Principality of Sealand, or the Hala’ib Triangle? Or do you have your own different suggestions? Liberland does not count, given the difficulty even spending the night there on the physical land.
Which of these places have you spent any time to be able to say they are more free than anywhere? Reading cherry-picked statistics put together by people who have either never been or only visited briefly does not give me much reason to believe what they put into their comparisons.
And why does it need to be repeated three times? (And counting.)
Is this some new trolling shtick? Gun laws alone make America “freer” than the places you list.
Yep, this right here, plus many do not have the 1st amendment protections, we enjoy.
Don’t forget me!
/First Amendment
Gee, I don’t know, Winston.
That’s not bad. Very Winstonian.
Immaculate go with Tulpa, Winston’s already here
Imma
Sorry, sounds like bullshit. We all know roads are government magic made real.
Game 7 it is. The way it’s going anyway.
The NHL nods sagely.
About 4 years ago, I gave up “debating” people on FB. You all probably know exactly why: friends and family going screech level insane with the insults and virtue signalling. One or two people might be decent and offer up some counter points, but trying to scroll past a wall of idiotic and childish responses got tiring after a while. Skip forward to Glibs and there is a place without the childish screeching, but do we sacrifice having legitimate pushback on points that widely accepted here? JSM, IIRC, said that you need to debate people who actually believe in the position they are arguing in order to get the best defense of it. We can guess what someone who is more inclined to use state power would say, but we aren’t going to get it right all the time. Rob’s SLD series is an interesting attempt at getting around the problem, but there’s a limit even to that. Meatspace is not libertarian (personal interactions might be) so I get that we are exposed to statist arguments ad nauseum. Ecosystems are a bitch to micromanage, so kudos to our overlords.
I do appreciate you lot for helping me turn away from a GOP socon/neocon to a more independent-minded, mellow, and critical of big government Glib.
I don’t post to FB very often – maybe 3 or 4 times a year – and that’s for a reason. I did once try to explain/discuss some political issue once with my little sister but the entire discussion was derailed with terminal TDS. No discussion was possible after that. If my goal is to attempt to have some level of continued relationship with my family bringing up politics will only run counter to that goal.
Welp. Game 7 on Wednesday, I guess.
Which I believe means that Boston will win.
That’s what I’ve been waiting for to watch my first NHL game in decades. Game 7? Yeah, I’ll watch that, if I can find it.
/r/nhlstreams
Also, not a basketball guy at all, but I believe that the Raptors will win tomorrow.
I keep waiting for the Raptors to come back to Earth and stop shooting lights out percentages from the field. Then, some guy like Siakim or Ibaka or VanVleet gets hot and doesn’t let that happen. Leonard always give you a solid 30+ and that host of role players that take turns lighting it up is hard to beat. Toronto is a monster team. If Leonard stays, they could be the new dynasty.
Yeah. Again, not being a basketball guy, what I see is that you’re getting a consistent output from Leonard, and then, like you said, one guy or another always has a big game.
And Leonard is very quiet. You can barely notice him and then in the 4th quarter you go “Holy crap! He’s got 35 points!”
He doesn’t react much after making most shots. Interesting contrast to Curry who acts like douche. I’m a big Leonard fan.
And Apple appears to be going the way Gillette has with razor blades. If two or three blades is good why not five? Same with cameras.

More cameras to spy on you with, Ms. Riding Hood.
Meh, people want cameras capable of shooting 4K 3-D with all these options to change focus after the fact, this actually makes sense. Not that anyone will use those features, but they’ll get sold on them.
“Relegalize Cocaine”. Just heard that for the first time. Love it.
I’m not familiar with narcotics laws as pertaining Japan. I know, stupid American…
Probably was legal here at sometime. I heard “relegalize cocaine” on Tom Woods. Pretty sure he was talking about the US.
Fucking anglophile.
Everything was legal at some point, until a government discovered people enjoying it and decided to start throwing those people in cages.
I don’t think absolute freedom was ever legal…
I swear I’ve seen cocaine ads in olde Sears & Roebuck catalogs.
*flashes back to childhood* My Aunt had the Montgomery Ward Hardcover Catalog from 1979. I started leafing through it in 1986. I was so pissed I couldn’t actually buy any of that stuff.
I was thinking more like 19-oh-9.
I believe opium was illegal in Japan since the days of the Shogunate – I think the Dutch had been trying to bring it in to introduce it to a new market the way the British pumped it into China. But cocaine and pot were legal until the Occupation when the US decided to change that.
Care to cite your sources? We here at late night glibs take ourselves very unserious, but demand proof when a claim is made. That is what lead to the Great Betty Crocker war of 2017…
Aye. 10 pound I gained in that, alone.

What about heroin? “’If we legalize heroin tomorrow, everybody is going to use heroin.’ How many people here would use heroin if it was legal? I bet nobody would.” – Ron Paul
I wouldn’t. I’ve seen what it does. And I’ve done most everything else.
*makes note* Rhy is a SQUARE
If not wanting to puke my guts out for hours on end makes me a square, so be it.
*Again. Apparently, that particular feature was reserved for me.
If we relegalized cocaine, heroin, and other drugs we would absolutely see a huge increase in their use and abuse. I’m not a heroin in vending machines libertarian, but I do believe in self ownership so adults should be free to choose what drugs they injest. There would
I believe that for a brief while you had to get a prescription to get an Aspirin while you did not need one to buy cocaine.

Nice bods , but the faces they pull!!!
Faces??
Oh, whad’ya know–they do have faces!
C’mon, HS–they aren’t all bad. Not really….
Git-r-drunk! That’s how that goes, right?
Works for me
No one will argue if you’re wrong.
This is fucking glibs, of course people will argue.
My fellow Glibertarians ::ahem::
I’m anxious about this post, for a number of reasons, but, the bottom line is, for those of you who have an Amazon Prime account, and might be inclined to help someone out financially-WITHOUT spending a red cent-you can help out my wife (and, by extension, me).
I’m going to try to make this pitch brief: She is a Twitch.tv streamer part-time, where she streams some vidya game playing, and, their version of karaoke. She was recently made an affiliate, which means that others can subscribe to her channel (monthly basis) and even give her monefree Twitch Prime subscriptionce it’s owned by Amazon, everyone who has Amazon Prime has a free Twitch Prime subscription that they can use on any twitch streamer, provided they are at ‘affiliate’ status. It doesn’t cost anything outside the Prime account cost, and, the only difference between it and a paid subscription is that the free account doesn’t auto-renew every month.
So…If any glibs are willing to go to the trouble, this would mean 1) creating an account on Twitch (no cost, and doesn’t require much in the way of info), 2) linking that account to your Amazon account, then 3) going to her channel and subscribing to her using the Twitch Prime option. Of course, you can watch her streams, if you like, but it’s in no way required–you can subscribe, and never go to her channel again. Now, she and I hope you do watch the content, or, at the very least, go back once a month (about every 30 days or so) and renew the Prime subscription, but, you don’t have to. From what I can see, she doesn’t even have to be live in order to subscribe (broadcasts are recorded/saved on her “page” for later viewing).
I have been wrestling with making this request, and even asked my wife if she wanted me to do this/was OK with it. Beyond coming in and asking you lot for what is. essentially, financial help, which makes me very uneasy, I am also a very private person, and this is a window into my wife’s life somewhat. I have zero plans on ever being on camera for her, although I do chat with her when she’s on and I’m at work. But, this would make her happy, and so, I am asking. BTW, she’s not a glib, per se, but fairly close by most measures. I tell her stories, and she smiles and chuckles in that way that lets me know she’s humoring me.
So, if you’re still with me on this, I will proceed as such: You can email me at my protonmail account (pm.me is activated), where I will give you the link to her channel. You wouldn’t be obligated to go through with the subscription at any time, but, why not, right? I can answer any questions you have about this here, or, in an email. My prefix is sir.digby.71
Thus concludes my pitch. Please don’t ban/shun/spam/sexually harass me for this crassness–just think of it as her taking a much milder, PG-13 version of HM’s advice for cash flow. Thank you for your continued support.
Were you raised by ruler wielding nins? That’s the most guilt ridden post I’ve ever seen.
Nuns.
You called?
Someone has bee n ignoring my posts. I mean, you admitted to it though, so.
C’mon, you’ve known me long enough to know that I don’t usually rock the boat around here, if I can help it. And, any pitch for $ would, and should be met with some skepticism. Most either vent, or, ask for advice/input–I’m asking you to peek into a facet of my life (well, sort of) and do something so that I get paid.
Um, no I will not watch your wife strip. Made that mistake before with a friend. Hey he remarried her after she left him. But then they got divorced again.
She sings, and is fully clothed, thankyouverymuch. Also, Starbucks?? I thought I was your
friendchumcompatriotI thought we were on good terms, dammit!
I just thought that would be a good place to get a reaction. I personally would never step foot in one. But that might be a place where you could get some good stuff for an article.
“get a reaction”, he says….
Wait a tic–you want this to become a 2A/self-defense article, don’t you?!?
‘North Texas man gets confronted over a President Donald J. Trump shirt, shoots attacker‘
Well, I certainly would never wear a hat and the hair shirt in public, I might get beat up. And i say this as man who has gotten away with wearing a purse in public for 20 yrs because I’m a scary lookin motherfucker.
Lolz.
Love it.
What have I done to deserve this?
You bought the shirts. I sure as hell didn’t. I bought a mug. I was sensible.
And, yes, that was for C.
Mug, huh? Is that how you’re gonnaIt’s because of those dumb-ass immigrants, isn’t it?e dumb-ass immigrants, isn’t it?
Whoa, what the shit?? something discombobulated my post.
Well, you can purse…uh, parse.
Fun fact – I knew a guy who dated him, in the early 90s.
“Thith ith why thir Digby ith the betht fucking guy”-Hat
Yeah, but, what does the Hair think of me?
And, yes–you are probably correct about getting good stuff for an article.
So, Costco and Target, it is.
Huh, I have that friend too. Except after she left him and came back, they’re still married. At least, last I knew. I think the stripping is over, though.
Yeah, aspie me, I tried to help them both work through it, him by giving him a place to live, her by messaging her that, although she was not for me she was still a desirable woman (might have taken that part too far while still making it clear I was not an option) Then they got back together, I said she had to tell him about the conversations. He ended the friendship, they remarried, they divorced. No connection to either now.
I’m not on my home computer where I usually log on twitch, but I’d be cool with subbing. Got a channel myself as just a free hobby (almost affiliate). I’ll send you an email soon and good luck.
Much thanks, Raph. I’m on while glibbing, most nights. Hell, I even watch it at home more than I watch TV. When you write me, let me know your channel/Twitch handle, so I can check out a stream and drop a follow.
No problem and sweet, will do. Side note, but I started listening to Matt Berry’s Kill the Wolf album, really good stuff. I especially dug October Sun. Are there any particular albums you liked from him?
Holy shit, you mentioned October Sun. I had fully planned on mentioning it to you when we spoke about his music again.
Probably my fave. Well, of his serious music.
I only know his stuff via YT. I tend to just convert to mp3s, and go off what I really like. I think Kill the Wolf is more refined and mature, but Witchazel is pretty good. You will find that he re-uses some of his music in the TV shows he creates, like this…
I’m loving that you like his stuff.
Excellent, I’ll check out that album too. Thanks again for introducing him, I needed something to get me off my Sabaton and video game OST binges as of late.
Another favorite. I like the video version better than the album version, plus the video itself.
An interview and look at his home studio.
*adds to the watch later list*
Excellent contributions to my mini collection.

Ah, Thanks.

Twice cooked fries are better that fries tossed with potato starch before frying once.
Fight me.
A double fry is essential to a crisp fry. Even in an air fryer you have to remove the basket at give it a shake to get a good product.
I was dubious at first but I tried a half-assed version of that once and they came out amazing. My guess is the first fry gets the middle soft and the second fry gets them crisp on the outside.
Twice fried French Toast is also good.
I should not have finished that bottle of wine yesterday. Good morning glibs…
I might regret finishing the bottle of vodka I just emptied into my glass.
Yep, shoulda saved it for early rising.
Mornin’.
Good evening, Pie/ Lord Dracula
Morning, Mr. Pie. Hope your head doesn’t ache for too much longer.
no head ache at all just a general feeling of overdoing it
This…”overdoing it”. I’ve heard that before, but the concept escapes me…
“Overdoing it” – Hm, … I think this refers to drinking all your supply with no opportunity to replenish before the next evening. This leads to the dreaded “dry” evening. You don’t want to go there – believe me!
Hmmm….fascinating. But, sounds like something I need ot leave to the ‘experts’.
Wallachia forever!

Indeed I will need it for the coming work week.
Don’t work too hard/run yourself ragged, young lady. You are needed in late nite Glib-land.
Wow…just dried up in here. More people need to skip out on Monday obligations and keep the fire going here.
Gotta catch a plane in several hours; no chance for playing hooky today
Well, if you’re still checking in, safe travels.
