Florida Man doing links on a Sunday? Well, OMWC and SP threw a party and the Old Man might actually sleep past 4am, so I’m paying off some help.
Trump’s definitely got Kim in his pocket. How else do you explain this little PsyOp?
Proud Boys jumped by Antifa throwing milkshakes full of quick drying cement, which is basically liquid rocks. Aggravated assault charges are warranted. Disrupting a lawful demonstration seems the harshest charge leveled.
Congratulations Wichita Falls, I hereby declare you spiritually part of Florida.
I’ve been on an electronic kick lately.
If the Yellowstone Caldera is rousing from its slumber, I haven’t noticed it.
Mornin’
Frist. Sleep mode malfunction isn’t all bad.
Has thrown your ordinal counter off.
Thompson, not Frist.
“Proud Boys jumped by Antifa throwing milkshakes full of quick drying cement, which is basically liquid rocks. Aggravated assault charges are warranted. Disrupting a lawful demonstration seems the harshest charge leveled.”
What? You want them to press charges against these brave fighters against the facist?
In Portland we see what happens when you give a group broad immunity for assaulting political opponents. You know who else…
I don’t know how more people haven’t been seriously injured or killed by this kind of shit. It seems like a civil version of a Cold War. Two groups fighting proxy wars with limited scope.
That article is awful. The headline suggests both sides threw cement. And it straight up calls the proud boys neofascist
Agreed. The articles are always slanted to one direction.
The Antifa groups are being allowed to play Brownshirt without any serious repercussions.
You know who else let people play Brownshirt without repercussions?
Progressives? I mean with all that pants shitting some is bound to get on their shirts
United Parcel Service?
The NFL?
Portland police won’t do shit about this. And once again, assholes are turning the ratchet towards armed conflict.
By assholes, I mean really the quick dry cement milkshake tossers at ANTIFA.
Fits the Portland PD, too.
Just a few weeks ago on social media the lefty types were saying “it’s just a milkshake, you wimps”.
I’ve been on an electronic kick lately.
You’ve been getting away with it, too.
Morning Brett.
I was just listening to this Chemical Brothers song yesterday.
I’ve also been on a Lo Fi Allstars kick.

Dang. I’m goin’ girl, but I wouldn’t bet $5 on it.
I’ll bet you 25 cents it’s a dude.
Damn! It’s like one of those pictures where if you look at it one way it’s a lady and another it’s a crone! Now I can’t unsee the dude!
If she had been born more attractive, either in body *or* personality, she would have received a lifetime of positive feedback from everyone she met, and wouldn’t have ended up part of a gang bent on committing political violence.

Speaking of sleep mode malfunctions-
The other day, I attempted to turn on one of my antique computers. Mac OS9, that’s how antique it is. It immediately started making that noise. You know- it sounds like there’s a ping pong ball rattling around in there. I shut it off, and tried again. Same. I blew the dust out of the case, but haven’t attempted to re-fire it. I have an external case, so I’m thinking maybe(!) if I juggle hard drives around so it’s not the startup drive, I might be able to get in there and rescue a bunch of stuff (mostly images).
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Tannerite.
Dynamite makes a bigger bang for your buck. Although, thanks to the government, it’s a lot harder to get and gets you put on a list.
Why can’t it be both?
Did you try turning it on an off again….
Geez. It’s the goddamned thermostat.
I imagine Apple has proprietary plugs on their hardware, but if you can get them out and plugged into a Windows machine, Recuva has worked pretty good for me. Or just find a recovery software that runs on Mac if your new machine is also Mac.
As for the connections, I bet NewEgg has what you need. If Apple uses standard HD connections, it should be pretty easy.
Can you start it with the case open and try to spot where the noise is coming from? Figure it has to be a fan bearing, or the hard drives themselves, what else would be making a “moving parts” noise? If it’s the hard drive, see Sean, re: tannerite. A bad fan you might be able to replace, although if the fan is in the power supply you probably don’t want to try getting in there, good luck finding a replacement PSU.
What era of Mac are you talking about, MC68000-based or PPC? Just curious. I’ve got a IIci I haven’t started in a while, it’s probably no good at this point.
Saw an article to a Virginia Rag, talking about how an anti choice, anti gun safety republican beat moderates in a primary.
First off I don’t know why it annoys me so much but I get peeved when the left uses terms like “anti-choice”. The movement is pro life, that’s what they call themselves, have the decency to call them that. Or should we call pro-choice folk Anti-Life? It would be more apt given the recent free abortion anytime legislation. Also I think we should call the Antifa what they are: Facists thugs.
Second: I like how they call him an extremist, when it’s the left trotting out socialists for their elections. We should call them anti life, anti liberty extremists
Virginia Rag
I like to call them Profa.
So he’s an extremist for holding long standing, common beliefs? Do words still have any real meaning?
Also, anti-gun safety? Is that a new term from the left as well? Or does this guy load a a mag, turn off his safety and just fire indiscriminately while he”s walking down the street?
If you’re against mandatory trigger locks and “red flag” laws, you’re anti-gun safety, now. Even though that crowd doesn’t have a clue what gun safety consists of.
“Do words still have any real meaning?”
Nope. Just another casualty of the long march through the institutions, comrade.
This stuff is not new, it’s very old now, actually. If you’re against European level taxation and having your entire life micro-managed by unelected bureaucrats, you’re an extremist.
Hell, even Pro-Abortion would be accurate, but they know* that it doesn’t sound as good as Pro-Choice.
*with the spate of new abortion zeal, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pro-Abortion become en vogue.
“Pro-baby-murder” would echo the breathlessly hyperbolic descriptors in the article, but I’ll just stay sane and reasonable.
We should call them anti life, anti liberty extremists
We do.
Well yeah, but nobody listens to us.
I think anti-abortion is accurate for pro-life, but I don’t think pro-abortion fits everyone in the pro-choice camp. I would consider myself pro-choice but I think abortion should only ever be considered an option within a certain fixed period of time, with the exception of medical necessity or in the case of prenatal medical conditions where it becomes a quality of life issue for the baby, i.e. certain conditions which allow a successful birth but result in a baby that lives only briefly and in constant pain. I don’t think it’s something you bake a cake for or wear a shirt or a hat about. If you celebrate an abortion you’re either delusional or a monster.
So, to clarify, I’m against banning abortion, but I don’t think that the world needs more abortions, if that makes sense.
*Blows whistle and throws flag*
Sorry Bill, too much nuance and thought for an abortion debate. That won’t even fit on a bumper sticker
In other Bad Orange Man is Bad news</a
For Donald Trump the showman, this may have been the greatest performance of his presidency.
In one dramatic gesture, he became the first U.S. president to set foot in North Korea — and the first to arrange an impromptu meeting with a North Korean dictator via tweet.
———-
The scene at the DMZ was dramatic and chaotic because there was no agenda, no plan, no advance work. This was improv. North Korean leaders are not known for improv. And neither, for that matter, are U.S. diplomats.
The first moves seemed well choreographed: the handshake, the walk over to the North Korean side and the walk back to the South Korean side. It’s a move that not even a South Korean president had ever done until President Moon Jae-in did it last April.
Then — chaos.
Obama would never have done an unchoreographed appearance with a foreign leader!
Tough for the D candidates to top that. Roll that during the election process and tell the people a little more socialism is good for them (us).
I don’t know what concrete progress will be made based on this but Trump entering North Korea to shake Kim’s hand was a hell of a symbolic milestone. Hopefully something good will come of it.
Trump Befriends Dictator:
Could Kim be his Russian handler? /MSNBC
It actually wouldn’t surprise me if Trump spoke with Putin during the G20 and the Russians facilitated this meeting behind the scenes. I have no problem at all with that scenario though.
If anybody at G20 brokered this meeting it would have been Xi – and I would have no problem with that either. The more normal it is for us to be talking – rather than shooting missiles, etc. – with Kim the better.
Sure, the Chicoms are monsters but if they can be used to good purpose that’s fine with me.
The Chicoms have at least as much interest in keeping NorK stable as we do. A shooting war in their back yard won’t help improve their economy in any way.
Trump is a real ring master, controls the daily dialogue in spite of the Lizzies and Joes
Wasn’t Trump more than fully destined to lead us to full on nuclear holocaust from a war with North Korea?
“Obama would never have done an unchoreographed appearance with a foreign leader!”
He was going to meet with Kim, but he wasn’t sure if he could bow that low or not.
Goddam stupid fingers
You can always cut them off.
“I hereby declare you spiritually part of Florida.”
Let ’em eat cake (but make them pay for it).
“Aggravated assault charges are warranted.”
The left’s toolbox contains a number of tools. Poverty, destruction of the currency, high crime, censorship, hunger, deprivation but chiefly mob violence. All of it is used to beat down and intimidate the population. They cant really use the mob violence unless the population is disarmed. Disarm the population and all of the rest will follow, count on it like the sun rising.
There is only one reasonable response to gun grabbers.
” Poverty, destruction of the currency, high crime, censorship, hunger, deprivation but chiefly mob violence.”
Well sure, but what have they done lately?
/sarc
Besides the Poverty, destruction of the currency, high crime, censorship, hunger, deprivation and mob violence – what have the progressives ever done to us?
Good question
Communist Romania was as near to paradise as possible, without any of that, until you western capitalists came and ruined everything. you destroyed our economy cause you felt threatened by the success of socialism.
So… would you want to go back to how things were?
What can I say? Haters gonna hate.
My PhD advisor was a product of (i.e. escapee from) communist Romania. He had lots of stories. If you wanted to send him into a blinding rage, just say “Ceaucescu”. Or “Russian”.
It’s funny how the people who hate socialism the most are the ones who have actually lived with it.
Always seems to be the case, except with some former peasants in communist countries who were rewarded with political appointments because they were stupid and grateful to the party.
“It’s funny how the people who hate socialism the most are the ones who have actually lived with it.”
Unless you are most of Latin America. Somehow those people seem immune to it. If they ever get rid of Maduro in Venezuela and get a real free election, watch them vote a Chavez/Maduro clone right back in. 100% guaranteed.
So says the guy who just had his home renovated…
It got better.

Party of Hate
when I watched Sen. Kamala Harris’ exquisite takedown of Joe Biden this week over his past opposition to busing, an odd thought occurred to me: Maybe we are getting tired of being such a “forgiving people,” and that might not be so bad.
Most commentators portray Harris’ exchange with Biden during the second night of the Democratic debate as a potential game-changer for the Democratic presidential nomination. But Harris dropped a bomb on Biden that’s bigger than politics. She exposed a psychological shift in some parts of the black community that’s been building for years.
The old days of black people putting up with questionable leaders because they felt like they had no other choice may be over. No more talk about trying to understand white people’s racism, forgetting the impact of slavery, moving on from the past because “this is a time of healing.”
Forgiveness may not always be divine; sometimes it leads to something worse.
“Look at what forgiveness has gotten us. It gave us Trump,” said Wes Jackson, a commentator who said he cheered when he saw Harris confront Biden during the debate.
WTF?
Let the hate consume you.
Ah Harris, the ex DA that wanted to prosecute parents for their kid’s truancy…fine, fine woman.
Both my kids got suspended for playing hooky. Get more of what you reward. Lucky for me that Kamala was not the DA, I’d have been doin’ life without parole.
When I was on the FD, I asked my captain for a day off, but he said I couldn’t take any time before I had earned it per payroll rules. I argued that I just wanted the day, not the pay, but it never worked out.
A week later a hoser decked his lieutenant in one of the engine houses; they gave him three days off without pay. I ran over to my captain and explained that I only wanted one day and wasn’t even going to hit him.
LOL
I dont know how she gets away with that. Are the Democrats that blinded by their obsession with identity politics that they can’t see that woman for the monster she is?
Yes.
Hi, I’m Kamala Harris. I’m a black women and I care about black stuff. I also lock up poor underprivileged minorities who fail to get their kids to school often enough. Vote for me, I’ll prosecute you.
I think a lot of people aren’t too familiar with her and her law and order past will become more of an issue as she becomes more well known. It’s her Achilles heel but it might not be quite a politically fatal flaw.
Dude, public school is the religion of the US. It doesn’t surprise me that people don’t care. It’s not just a duty to keep them. It’s. Duty to send your kids to them. we Stereotype folks who want to get out of the horrible system as freaks or link them to rare child abuse. I remember when they discovered that family who tortured their kids, they used that to stigmatize homeschooling too.
“Well, yeah, but she’d never lock me up because my kids would never skip school.”
/prog
“My kids would never skip school.”
Unless they were really bored or realized they weren’t being challenged or a boy friend/girl friend had Daddy’s car for the day or fishing/hunting was more fun or …
Except to walk out for Gun Control
Watch, I’m gonna make the argument in her defense that you’ll hear:
“There is a serious problem in underprivileged communities with parents who don’t value the role of education in improving their children’s lives. By threatening to prosecute parents who failed to support their children’s education, I wanted to let them know that there would be consequences for not taking their children’s futures seriously.”
There no better success indicator for children than incarcerated parents.
For sure, if there’s one thing that will solve the problem of inner city youth lacking good role models and descending into a life of crime it’s tossing their parents in the hoosegow when their kids are late to homeroom.
who rode to political prominence on Willie Brown’s penis
Fixed.
Forgiveness is divine. Ginning up racial animosity towards people for merely existing and debating weather to forgive them is a fraud.
Worked for Rwanda.
“Sen. Harris, if you got a better education because you were bussed to another school, doesn’t that mean someone else got a worse education because they were bussed to your school?”
They never mention that millions of white kids were bused to “black schools” too, do they.
Harris and Warren are both unelectable in a national election. Biden might do as well as Hillary did in 2016. Bernie would lose in a landslide and both of the aforementioned cunts would lose in a historic level landslide.
Brace yourself for rampant, brazen cheating efforts.
If we have a recession and the border crisis isn’t under control, then I think any of those three would have a decent chance.
Why do you think the Dems, deep state, and judiciary are doing everything they can to keep the border in a state of crisis?
It seems sort of counter to their actual goals to me. Unless you think a majority of Americans want completely open borders, which is what they are proposing. At least Trump says he is trying to do something about it. Also pretty hard for me to believe that most Americans support another 100 trillion dollars of government spending and crushing taxation that goes with it.
Add to that, Warren and especially Harris have very abrasive toxic personality disorder. They just are not likable people. The orange dude is prince charming compared to either of them.
Their actual goal is “getting elected”. Anything they can stir up and then blame on Orange furthers that goal.
You know who else let people play Brownshirt without repercussions?
Is this another Cleveland joke?
In another article titled, “6 Things Black People Need to Stop Saying to White People in 2018,” Shannon M. Houston wrote:
“Forgiving whites is so 2017 (and literally every year before that). We’re going to try a new approach in 2018 called, ‘We don’t have time to forgive you because we’re busy doing our work and dreaming up a Blackness of the future that is too preoccupied with itself to worry about how white people will sleep at night without our forgiveness.'”
How’s that working out for you?
It’s been pretty easy to spot the actual racists lately.
“how white people will sleep at night without our forgiveness.”
Do you think white people care? Or is it that we don’t and that’s what makes us racist.
Forgiveness of what? I haven’t done jack shit to them.
Yes.
“Two officers were pepper-sprayed during the incident and were treated. Another officer was punched in the arm by a demonstrator and sustained non-life threatening injury. Another officer sustained a non-life threatening head injury from a projectile,” the statement said”
Those arrested were identified as Gage Halupowski, 23, who was charged with multiple counts of assault, including on a public safety officer; James K. Stocks, 21, who was charged with harassment; and Maria C. Dehart, 23, who was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.”
I guarantee you that under no other circumstances can anyone get away with assaulting cops and not catch a major felony.
Or catch a bullet.
“You can beat the rap but you can’t beat the ride”
I wonder if they’re even getting the ride.
The absolute worst beating I’ve ever witnessed was administered by a New Orleans policeman during the Mardi Gras. Some drunken asshole stubbed a cigar out in the flank of the officer’s police horse. The horse reared up and shrieked (I NEVER want to hear a horse scream again) but the cop was an experienced rider so he kept control. Then he grabbed the drunk by the collar and took off at a rather brisk cantor, slamming the drunk into every single lamppost and balcony support they passed. After turning the corner onto Royal St., the cop dismounted and proceeded to give the drunk a further brutal thrashing with his truncheon.
My principles say this was wrong. If I had been asked what happened, I didn’t see anything. Poor horse.
I don’t know, I’m thinking that the cop has a legit call to administer a healthy ass-whoopin’ on the horse’s behalf, here. Casual cruelty is the worst kind and should be snuffed out with prejudice.
That’s why i would look away, but there still needs to be due process. The cop made himself judge, jury, etc. It’s the kind of thing where you say the cop is guilty, but his punishment is nothing, and you buy him a beer later
https://youtu.be/77ZuwtX3B80
That would be my reaction as well. Sure it doesn’t square with my principles or the rule of law but there are some actions (namely being mindlessly cruel to an animal, child or weaker person) that need to be met with immediate ass beatings.
Self-defense. The only issue should be whether the beating was disproportionate. If somebody stubbed out their cigar on you, what would you think was an appropriate response?
In an earlier era, black voters often felt like they had little choice but to put up with white male politicians like Biden. They could appear tone-deaf or even racist at times, but many black voters felt as though they had no options
Not anymore. Consider the optics of the Democratic debate stage. They were almost as damaging to Biden as Harris’ words.
On the stage were men of color and women. It graphically showed black voters that they now have choices, said Jackson, the commentator, who is also the founder and executive director of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.
“I think people are starting to understand we have to stop letting these white males off the hook,” Jackson says. “You look up there now and you got Kamala, you got Elizabeth Warren. You got Castro.”
Totally not obsessed with race.
“Thank gawd I can vote for someone who looks like me instead of some white guy who has the same ideas and values as me! Derp!”
*Sheila Jackson Lee nods approvingly*
Castro…isnt that the guy that wants govt to pay for MTF transgender abortions?
I don’t see how they can lose.
Frankly, I find your attitude offensive, you need to stop othering the wombless who want to get taxpayer funded abortions.
Men need access to free abortions too, suthen. Do try to keep up.
We call it reproductive justice.
Forcing American citizen taxpayers to cover essentially the entire world’s healthcare, demanding to ban and confiscate everyone’s gays, and making taxpayers also pay for abortions even for what you said.
Trump doesn’t even have to research to make any campaign ad to show how ridiculous and moronic they are.

Only way to determine “Best Qualified” is through a DNA/gender test. Some sort of a score card has to be developed.
I think it’s funny that 10 years ago all of this would have been collected and put together by a white supremacist to show how there is a war on white men.
Harris proved herself to be an irrational constitution-illiterate buffon for attacking Biden about his lack of support for federally mandated busing programs.
Programs that have been shown to have been ineffective.
Indeed, that’s what makes this even more absurd. The data is out there showing she is absolutely wrong about how any of it worked and she just keeps doubling down and throwing them grievance cards.
And were unpopular amongst blacks, as well.
That’s the thing, Biden’s stance on busing was entirely reasonable and I personally don’t see a damn thing wrong with it. He’s even being attacked on it by people like David Harsanyi in The Federalist and pieces in the Washington Examiner, which for the life of my I can’t understand. Biden is who he is, but I think we should be applauding people from opposing camps when they take up reasonable positions.
“Busing” has been a religious object of veneration my entire life. You are not allowed to question it or apply any amount of reason to it.
To me it showed she is an authoritarian shit heel. She is of the mind the Fed Gov should be able to force on you whatever they the all knowing think is best for you.
She doesn’t care one whit about bussing. She didn’t care then and doesn’t care now. She’s just latching onto any sliver of a reason to assign some racism to the old white guy and assert her superiority. She is an authoritarian, but that’s not the main purpose of this line if attack. If I remember correctly, everyone hated bussing equally when it was happening.
On the stage were men of color and women. It graphically showed black voters that they now have choices, said Jackson, the commentator, who is also the founder and executive director of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.
Black voters didn’t have those choices when people like Herman Cain, Ben Carson, Bobby Jindal, Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina, and Michele Bachmann were running for office.
But those people are confirmed WrongThinkers.
Florida gator
Pieces of a human body were found inside of an alligator in Florida on Thursday, officials said.
Previously, investigators discovered the body of Michael Ford, 45, in a canal in Fort Meade, a city in Polk County roughly 60 miles east of Tampa, late last week, local newspaper the Ledger reported.
Someone reported seeing a piece of the man’s body in the alligator’s mouth.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) trapped and killed the gator which, according to Orlando’s FOX 35, was 12 feet long and weighed 450 pounds.
A necropsy reportedly found Ford’s hand and foot inside of the reptile’s stomach.
No wonder Florida Man has a drug problem.
12 feet? 450lbs? That is one skinny lizard. He must have been hungry.
“12 feet long and weighed 450 pounds.”
How much is that in pocket books and shoes?
That doesn’t sound right at all. I would think at 12 foot, a gator would have to be at least in the 800 pound range unless it was totally emaciated.
*gets brown paper bag and broken purple crayon. Peels paper back a bit*
Rule of thumb: lizards ~20 feet = around a ton. Ten feet =~800 to 1000lbs.
This one was 12 feet long? That is a big one. This critter was probably injured and unable to feed properly. It was desperate and the guy was either already deceased or did something really stupid.
Is Florida the Australia of America?
Bad Orange Man Strikes Again!
Aid groups working in Venezuela are eager to receive planeloads of humanitarian assistance from the United States, hoping to alleviate severe food and medicine shortages throughout the country.
But many of them don’t want the U.S. label attached to it.
President Donald Trump has so closely linked U.S. humanitarian assistance to his attempt to oust Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro — even placing goods along the country’s border as an incentive for Venezuelans to revolt — that some groups are asking U.S. officials if they can strip legally required U.S. branding from aid sent to Venezuela, three aid officials told POLITICO.
——-
The situation reflects broader fears that Trump’s unusually politicized approach to handing out U.S. aid worldwide is backfiring, tarnishing America’s brand and possibly risking the lives of people from Latin America to the Palestinian territories.
“The Trump administration seems to have weaponized humanitarian assistance,” said Larry Sampler, a former career employee at the U.S. Agency for International Development. “We used to be able to say we’re not choosing sides, that all we’re doing is alleviating human suffering. We’ve lost that now.”
Boo fucking hoo.
“This charity has strings attached? I’d rather see you starve.”
They probably applauded Mengistu’s use of food aid as a weapon against the Eritreans.
Have you met any Eritreans?
I spent two weeks there in the mid 2000s. The people were friendly but there was an undercurrent of fear in every interaction that somehow my white ass was a government agent.
Umm…wut?
What Trump is doing isn’t exactly the right thing. Putting sanctions on Venezuela to further harm their economy beyond the severe harm already being done to it by it’s own government gives Maduro an easy scapegoat to blame the country’s problems on.
Maduro’s socialism will collapse all on it’s own without our help because that’s what socialism does. If the U.S. wants Maduro out, then causing harm to the people of Venezuela is exactly the wrong thing to do. That just pushes people away from the U.S. and into the nationalist camp.
Don’t worry Venezuela has Guaido.

What’s interesting about that Fox Antifa article is that when I posted it last night “Proud Boys” was preceded by “far-right neo-fascists”. The author was getting hell in the comments. Looks like the adjectives were removed.
Because it’s an objectively false statement
I just went to their website and they have a black spokesman. So I dug a little deeper. They admitted to being anti-LGBT, anti-abortion and anti-feminists, but welcome all races & religions. If you want to paint them in a negative light, use what they actually claim, don’t make stuff up. That’s why people don’t trust the media.
She probably could have gotten away with far-right but not neo-fascist which is more apt to describe Antifa. Black shirts using violence to shut down dissent.
Yesterday I had the radio on as a pittered away the day and they had a news brief about what was happening in Portland. This station is a Fox affiliate and being local their news always has a left bent. They refereed to the Proud Boys as “alleged White Supremacists”. It made me do an audible, WUT?

Reminds me of the guy who came into the bank and asked to skip the line because he had 100k at the bank and was “a big deal”
Except 2 cars in 25 years sounds more like a guy with $10k in the bank calling himself a “bid deal”.
I Get what you’re saying but This was Wells Fargo, so his money was less than a drop in the bucket.
If you have already bought the vehicles, what difference does it make if the dealership closes. Your business with them is concluded.
Not always. Our family has purchased our last 8-9 vehicles, staring around 2003 and most recently Mrs. Animal’s new Expedition last December, not only from the same dealership but from the same sales guy. He always deals straight with us, respects what we want in a vehicle and doesn’t try to just make a sale. Not only do we buy our vehicles from them but their service guys are the only ones to lay a wrench on our vehicles except when we’re on the road.
So, yeah, I’d be bummed if Freeway Ford went out of business.

I’m thinking maybe if I pull the drive and stick it in the external drive case, so it’s not the start up disk, it might make a difference. It’s/I’m probably fucked.
Good luck, agree that you’re probably boned. I like to take dead hard drives apart and harvest the platters and magnets. The platters are super shiny (unless the head has been dragging on them), they’d make good emergency signal mirrors. And the magnets are powerful, like don’t get your finger between the magnet and a steel file cabinet.
Yeah it sounds like it can’t read the boot sector and since there’s a copy on the inside and outside of the disk, the R/W head will swing back and forth trying to load it. You might be able to get the data off if the disk is still spinning but it’s probably corrupted.
Letters to the Local Rag: Well that, and the bastard lovechild she left on the orphanage doorstep, and the time she blew a homeless guy for some crack, and….
But did he tell her trump was impeached so she could die happy?
NBA free agency starts soon. Everyone excited?
speechless with excitement i see
Is that “B” for baseball or basketball? I forget…
No.
The NBA is too woke for me.
Kawhi to the Clippers. You heard it here first. If he goes to the Lakers, just nuke the NBA from orbit.
The Governors and their subjects are!
Is any other neighborhood having a problem with an explosion of rabbits? Last year we might have seen four to six bunnies in our neighborhood. Now I’ve seen up to 20. Can you imagine how many there will be next summer? Does anyone have any ideas how to stop this explosion?
Bring us the Holy Hand Grenade.
Careful with that one over there, it’s quite vicious.

Because all your monies are mine to begin with.
nono your money is mine. my money is also mine.
also you are jealous you do not have a liberal arts masters degree
Republican tax cuts didn’t cost a dime. Congress could have budgeted appropriately.
Good one.
I really want to see someone turn this back on the colleges. The government tilted the table so that colleges rake in tons of money to provide worthless degrees to people who will never be able to pay back the loans they took out as “investments in their future”. Why aren’t the colleges and universities morally on the hook for this? They’ve been the chief beneficiaries of the scam.
To be clear, I’m not in favor of loan forgiveness but I think it would actually do some good if people started to see this for what it is. If people got an education that would allow them to earn a good living, then they wouldn’t have any trouble paying the loans back and they would have been worth it. It seems like nobody is willing to see that because to the left higher education is such a sacred cow.
Well the reason someone with a Masters degree in Woke Studies can’t get a good job is because evil KKKorporashuns won’t hire women and minorities because they prioritize profit above everything and are without exception staffed by cis male white supremacists. Once Bernie is put in charge he’ll put all those evil profit hungry companies and their staffs filled with STEM and business degrees out to pasture and they’ll instead be run by smart Art History professors.

It’s hilarious to me (in a morbid way) that some people actually believe shit like that even though tons of huge corporations are engaging in explicitly Leftist political posturing. Hell, Google had a program specifically designed to fast-track women into leadership positions, and when one man wrote a very tame critique of that program (with suggestions on other ways to get women into those jobs) he was promptly fired.
It’s not the college’s fault, they’re responding to incentives. The government says it’ll give free money to your customers so they can pay you double or triple and push every one to buy your product, what are you gonna do? Just completely stop any and all intervention and let the system figure itself out.
I can’t believe Antifa continues to be allowed to function and don’t get the ‘conservative’ treatment.
It blows my mind. It’s right there in your face: They’re violent. Proud Boys doesn’t go around attacking and destroying property. Antifa does.
you should throw a milkshake at Trudeau see what happens. Well maybe not you but you could pay someone to do it
Trudy has armed security.
‘Security’ is a loose term.
I wouldn’t risk anything for a piece of shit like that.
Got my first chance to watch national news in a few weeks this morning. It did not disappoint.
Chuck Todd was among the myriad of DNC operatives who spent the last couple of months telling me that Trump was a liar and there was no crisis on the border. He called it a manufactured crisis.
This morning he hammered the only republican on the program…. “What is the President going to do about the crisis on the border?”
Same guy… Just a week later.
Also… Said republican answered that the senate passed a bipartisan bill 86-14 to address this issue. Todd asked again… What are you going to about this crisis. Again with the we passed a bill but Pelosi and the house are blocking it… Again Todd hammers… What are you going to do about it… He says they need more resources.. Which the bipartisan senate bill provides.. Again, there is a private prison in Florida that is holding kids without soap and toothbrushes, what are you going to do about it.. “Nobody should profit from the crisis on the border”..
Meanwhile, when prompted by Todd, Corey booker said that nobody in the Democrat party is talking about open borders. This, despite Kamala Harris directly saying that she would immediately decriminalize illegal entry and that “every mother who wants to come here should be welcome”
Why did I read that as “every motherf**ker who wants to come here should be welcome”
I don’t know how anyone can go on one of those shows and not blow a gasket at those mendacious airheads.
Didn’t get into it last night, but it looks like once again the CSA hired an over rated coach. Herdman this, Herdman that. Down a goal and you take your best striker off in Cavallini? WTF? Cavallini was visibly upset by it and who can blame him? He was their most dangerous player.
And I just don’t get coaches who insist on using players out of position. I don’t follow it as much anymore but I’m told Davies is not a natural LB and it showed.
I thought one of the key roles of a coach is to put players and the team in the best position to succeed. On just those two moves Herdman failed.
He’s known as a motivator but after that display, no amount of yapping is gonna convince players if he keeps messing up tactically.
I don’t follow the Confederate States of America.
And I just don’t get coaches who insist on using players out of position
Didn’t total football get the Dutch to two WC finals?
Torino played ‘total football’ before the Dutch did.
Yes, but only if you have the personnel to do it. Maybe I should have said, ‘coaches who insist who don’t have the talent to do it’.
So people could play catenaccio from every position?
/sarcasm
When people ask me the same question over and over again, I give exactly the same answer, only in a monotone.
I hate when politicians say that nobody should profit from some particular government activity… Because I bet those same politicians would insist that government-sector labor unions are absolutely wonderful even though they are a very direct form of profiting from said government activity.
Seriously. The entire $100T colossus they’re proposing is nothing more than a giveaway to their union supporters.
Holy shit. They just showed that Harris clip. “That little girl was me.”
Talk about a scripted response. She spent hours rehearsing that in front of the mirror.
And then she spent all of her middle and high school years in the richest suburb of Montreal. Bow before her authenticity.
Yup. Westmount. Not just Montreal, but all of Canada.
She’s gonna play the same game as Obama and pretend to be “African American” when she is clearly no such thing.
…And That Little Girl Was Me
Somebody should tell Chuck Todd the Vice President of the United States is Mike Pence. You’d think a guy who works at a “news bureau” would have heard by now.
Oh, great. Castro wants to adopt Guatemala and Honduras.
“Nobody is talking about open borders.”
I’m in San Francisco, union square. Homeless people and trash everywhere. I am not comfortable walking alone, and I am not a nervous person.
Can you play corespondent and take some pics to share with us? I’m curious to see it.
No, I don’t think they (homeless) would take that well and I have no desire for any conflict.
Completely understood. Stay safe.
Get away from that shit. Go somewhere safe.

What, you don’t like “vibrant urban neighborhoods”?
Going on possibly outdated experience here, but that area should be fine. Stay away from areas south and west of there, though.
Homeless tents halfway down block from hotel entrance. It may be fine, but I’ll stick with the group.
There’s a restaurant in town called “San Francisco” and my wife asked me to take her there for her birthday next week. “What is so funny?”
I am doing construction in Florida. Almost daily I see shockingly shoddy work, tacky or poorly planned structures and I think back to how beautiful the homes were in northern California when I was out there for a wedding. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.
Are you doing any excursions?
Alcatraz is really cool. My kids also enjoyed biking across the GGB to Sausalito and taking the ferry back.
Last time I was there, my then soon to be wife and I rented bikes and did the same. We initially intended to bike all the way to the John Muir woods but about half way there, we realized we wouldn’t back in time before the ferry closed. We had rented the bikes from a shop near the ferry landing and not taking the ferry back would have meant we would have to backtrack across the bridge and through the Presidio back to the bay then to the shop. That was the toughest part of the ride and neither one of us wanted to do it twice. Thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.
I’m in San Francisco, union square. Homeless people and trash everywhere. I am not comfortable walking alone, and I am not a nervous person.
Yikes. Take care.
“I’m in San Francisco”
Umm… why?
Conference
Oh, good, I can’t think of any other good reason to be there. I may have one in Portlandia later this year.
The SF pride parade is today, so you have that to look forward to. Seems like a bad time for a conference given how crazy pride can get. At least the weather is nice!
Chuck Todd: Whom can we BLAME for this?
Bad orange man. Always the correct answer.
The top ten:
1. Ukrainian
2. Danish
3. Filipino
4. Brazilian
5.Australian
6. South African
7. Italian
8. Armenian
9. English
10. Canadian
No cheating. What’s the category?
Canada was bumped up because of Quebec.
No offense (I dated Teen Miss Filipino) but Filipino that high?
Prettiest girl, IMHO, was a Filipina, some 50 years ago, married to a jerk AF officer. Opinions are like…., everyone has one.
Yup. My brother married (and divorced) one. Well, she’s a heavy mix of all kinds.
Why Danish and not Norwegian or Swedish anyway? Is there that much of a different?
Relax people. Just shooting the shit.

Good Morning, Glibs and Gliberinas!
Two things – I finally saw They Shall Not Grow Old via a cheap DVD which sadly did not have any extras likes the interview with Peter Jackson. Nonetheless it was a brilliant movie, which surprised me considering all the shit that Jackson did to one of my favorite books – The Hobbit; and even mucking up the Tin Tin stories. But TSNGO was brilliant – and really did bring footage to life. A bit ad hoc in presentation but still profound how the soldiers dealt with such horrors.
And lastly I’ve just started listening to the Jordan Peterson podcasts – and I’m blown away with S1 E1, which touches on many of my own existential issues in my seemingly never-ending mid-life crisis. This is like therapy – but cheaper – and good with classical references that I enjoy.
Gotta watch the interviews when you get a chance.
I listened to Peterson’s book on audible. I enjoyed it.
I liked that one a lot, too. It was actually one of his lectures I believe.
He’s got so damn many of them out there I’ve barely scratched the surface, but like you I really dig his style.
I had heard about him only via that interview in England with the prog chick trying to play games with him and getting pwned. TOS covered him weirdly and then a friend I respect told me to listen to one of his podcasts – which was part of a lecture series at U of Toronto – on the “Idea of God.” It’s deep. He’s really a serious guy and he’s done his homework… Now I know why the Left hates him so much. I don’t know if he’ll survive the academe, but good on him for what he’s doing.
Just added the Blu-Ray for TSNGO to my next amazon order.
ABC now- Castro is scandalized by Trump’s disdain for the Mandarins of the State Department. Muh PROTOCOLS!
I mean really. The Gal of that man. How dare he say mean things about the entrenched bureaucracy that has openly opposed him.
Just submitted a short Article. Started out as a Long Comment, but then outgrew the size appropriate for a comment. (No offense to Ken)
About?
Taxation. And Theft.
So it’s an article about redundancy?
Any mention of donations?
No, just force 😉

The international embarrassment of no national health care.
We’re a laughingstock.
Kkkorporashunz are ripping you off!
The international embarrassment of no national health care.
Also, people are risking their lives to come here. Funny, what with that aforementioned embarrassment.
It’s because they believe there are no cats in America
Somehow, we simultaneously have no national health care, and our national government spends more on health care than any other OECD member.
Ah, right, it’s all evil profits. That’s why Walmart is well known for its high prices and upward pressure on wages.
Indeed.
We’re told that the US government does absolutely nothing as far healthcare, yet something like 50% of healthcare spending comes from the government.
And a pertinent question is why we are even having this debate when we were assured ~10 years ago that Obamacare would fix everything once and for all. Remember how they brushed away any and all criticism of that program as nothing more than malice and racism? They guaranteed that American healthcare would work like a Swiss watch, yet here we are again hearing horror stories of how terrible the situation is and being given promises of some big government program that will finally fix everything. Call me crazy, but I think I’m seeing a pattern here…

FIF LARGEST ECONOMY!!
This one just kills me. And yet, the silly proggies trot it out every single time.
Go ahead, CA. Give it a shot on your own!
Especially since (when adjusting for standard of living) it’s the state with the most poverty in the US
I’d enjoy watching them develop their own armed forces. You could make a sitcom out of that premise.
I’d watch it.
Also, don’t they get drinking water from CO or something? They don’t really produce a lot of things.
I think it’s highly comical that after Trump won, there was talk of California seceding, and they really thought that was a “sick burn” to conservatives. But what they didn’t consider is that a lot of conservatives – particularly gun rights people – have been saying for years that it would be nice to just amputate California and let them do whatever they want as long as they’re not exerting their influence over the rest of the US anymore.
I worked in SF for a summer a few years back and walking through the Tenderloin at 530 in the morning was quite the sight.
When I lived there a couple decades ago the Loin was seedy but reasonably safe if you kept your eyes open. It got progressively worse the closer you got to City Hall and Market St., though.
I used the Civic Center BART stop and it was a literal shitshow around the station.
KSuellington is down there a lot, it seems. He recounted a homeless dude literally spraying shit on the front door of a house.
Nice place.
That was in a nice neighborhood – near Ocean Beach, IIRC.
What else are you going to do when smoking crack at 6 am?
Good point.
I dig your avatar. Are you a sockeye fisherman?
Prepare to smoke more crack at 7am?
Not a commercial fisherman. I did have a subsistence net when I lived in the bush to harvest sockeyes with the odd king salmon thrown in. I mostly canned or smoked them and froze a few of the fillets I didn’t hack too badly.
“I love the conservative lie that California is a wreck, the state alone has the fifth largest economy in the entire world”
I wonder how Hollywood factors into this assessment.
Hollywood and Silicon Valley. But those can easily be driven off by Leftist policies. They could easily go the way of Detroit’s auto industry, leaving California high and dry.
I understand that Georgia is becoming a hot destination for filming. As for IT, it’s getting easier than ever to telecommute, making it less important for IT companies to be centralized in one place.
Seriously…if I had a couple billion to spare, I’d go to Wyoming or MT (or somewhere else in the middle of nowhere) and offer a university $XXX to build/operate a nuclear reactor for training purposes and start a local tech hub.
https://neup.inl.gov/SitePages/University%20Reactors.aspx
Not WY or MT, but there’s a couple of nowhere places with nukes. Also Reed College, which vies with Evergreen for lunacy if it wasn’t for the heroin
Yeah, I know about a bunch of those – but I’d try and get them to set up a MSR and Thorium test reactors (grants, foundation, etc) – free power for the local community, etc – just as a bonus.
-Air Force
-Navy
-Coast Guard
-Water Rights
-Border Patrol with surrounding states
-Treaties
I wonder how much all of that would cost them?
jfc the fluffers trying to make it seem like the only reason they have the nation’s biggest homeless population is because not enough people can get a two year degree in musical theater.
Man- it’s like ABC called Central Casting and said, “Send us one o’ them Angry Black Wimmin for Stephanopoulis’ show.”
It must be exhausting to be that outraged by everything.
Even if it is pretend outrage when all you are is a dishonest leftist hack.
Floridians, does silver spray paint taste better than gold spray paint?
I use chrome spray paint because my blood is gasoline.
Nope, regular blood
It’s not about the money
Government officials are bickering over hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements paid by Big Pharma, stemming from the nation’s deadly opioid epidemic.
The pharmaceutical industry paid out more than half a billion dollars over the last year alone. All sides expect the scale of settlements to grow fast as more cases go to trial.
——
A growing number of sources have told NPR they’re concerned that the effort to hold the pharmaceutical industry accountable could unravel into a legal fight between governments.
There’s no agreement in place for how payouts will be distributed. In recent days, feuding between local, state and federal agencies has begun to spill into the open.
——-
“If we get money, how are going to use it?” asked Joe Rice, an architect of the proposal, who leads a team of attorneys representing more than 1,200 local governments suing Big Pharma.
A guy just wants to wet his beak a little, is all I’m sayin’.
The obvious solution is to decriminalize.
Won’t it be great when they sue all the opioid manufacturers out of business, and those of us with severe cancer pain, who rely on such meds to lead a productive life, can instead lie in bed all day in agony. Or “take an ibuprofen, it’s all that anyone needs” as one virtue-signaling physician-written op-ed recently stated. Because instead of helping millions of people, let’s focus on the hundreds who are abusers, and prevent anyone from accessing the meds, clearly it’s the only solution.
Yea, I never understood why the addicts took priority over pain sufferers.
One of those groups has to be told “too bad” and given the short end of the stick. Right now, pain sufferers given that short end on the grounds that addicts will ruin their lives with these meds if they are too easily accessible. But why should it be that way? Most pain sufferers probably have some injury or disease that was not their fault, and they need these meds in order to live something like a normal life. Meanwhile, the addicts got themselves into that situation. And they can get themselves out of it by checking into rehab.
It’s almost like it’s forbidden these days to expect people to take responsibility for their own decisions.
I’m still mad at the nurse who thought I was some druggie when the meds I had after a shoulder surgery weren’t working and I went back to ask for something stronger. Her own damn boss had cut me open three days prior and I had a file at the office to confirm it, I wasn’t some random guy off the street asking for meds. 0/10 would not do again and I still can’t throw a baseball more than a few times without searing pain.
I’d enjoy watching them develop their own armed forces. You could make a sitcom out of that premise.

First competition on Saturday. It’s raining so I’m indoors practicing holstering/unholstering and mag changes. I have noticed two things:
1. Severe Taxi Driver vibe going on.
2. Competition rigs were designed by a supremely dorky fat guy who wanted to be batman.
I’m enjoying your horoscopes.

I figured it was a scheduling issue at the site, not a dig at the well-dressed rat.
It depends on how soon I can have it ready. If I get in in by COB Thursday, 100% of those go up by noon Sunday. This one didn’t get submitted until Friday night.
Most of the editorial staff was at our place partying from Thursday evening, so….
Blues win and they’re off the bottom of the ladder!
I have a few of this week’s matches on my DVR that I haven’t got around to yet. That is not one of them, nor is Collingwood ?
Collingwood coach says his side’s performance was ‘as bad as it gets’
Hmm, that was supposed to be a link. Not sure what happened. The story is on the AFL’s website.
Well, that’s… something.
Are you talkin’ to me?!
Nope.
I’m indoors practicing holstering/unholstering
That’s something I should do. I had the Sig out the other day, practicing double action trigger pulls. The muzzle tends to wander during that long trigger pull. I should definitely take Sean’s(?0 advice and order a softer spring.
Yesterday was trying to get the sights on the gopher gun (S&W target .22) dialed in. Shoot n See targets are very handy. I was consistently high and outside. Better now.
I was consistently high and outside.
But enough about the 80’s.

Nice. I have one chambered in .380 loaded with hollowpoints that resides in my nightstand.
They just work. Easy to use and easy to clean.
Damn son, those are beauty’s. 1 hour and the ribs come out of the sous vide and onto the smoker. It is my first try at sous vide with ribs. My pig was butchered yesterday and I will be knee deep in pork tomorrow.
Mmmmm…..pork. I’m grilling some bone in chops after the steaks tonight. They’re going to be my lunches this week.
I am going to put on my tinfoil hat here, but the more I think about, the more I think the manufactured campus rape epidemic was about politics rather than sex. The faculty already had their tools of political conformance (access to tenure, promotions, contract renewal, etc.) but not the student body. You couldn’t just kick out a student for having bad politics, and up until recently, you couldn’t harass students because of their politics, either. I think the safe space movement was part of this, too. After a while, no one can avoid the implication that, if there have to be safe spaces, then the rest of the campus must be hostile. So you use rape accusations to go after individuals, and the claim of a hostile student environment to go after groups. Before long, you go from “our campus is a welcoming place” to “hate has no place on our campus” to “students must check their privilege”.
/receives spurious radio signal of possibly extraterrestrial origin
Oh, it was definitely about politics.
Wasn’t there a story arc in one of the Star Trek shows about the Klingon Empire purposely looking for a fight because that’s what their culture required to survive? Their whole society was based on warrior ethos, and warriors need a war. They don’t know what to do without war.
… And social justice warriors need a war as well.
Wait for the circus of Democrats to bring it up at one of their debates – you’ll see exactly to what extent it’s all about politics.
That is tinfoil hat territory? If so then so is ‘water is wet’.
I think initially it was a tactic for weakening men / strengthening women on college campuses. You could tell nobody really believed it, because who would willingly send their daughters to a rape factory?
Then the colleges realized it was an excellent method of control, like you said. That’s when they moved to embrace the myth and start using it for their own benefit.
BTW….since I just watched it again last night, gotta throw out another recommendation for “Hell or High Water”. That interesting sort of post-post-modern contemporary western from a different perspective. Some things don’t necessarily jive with West Texas based on what I’ve heard from KDW, but for the period, it’s believable and the characters are great. The Texas Ranger banter back and forth is hilarious any way you slice it.
Fuck it, time to start drinking and sending ill-advised texts messages to an ex girlfriend.
I’m gonna have lunch first, then start in on some Vanilla Porter, yummy
Box wine for this scumbag.
I actually like those Bota Box wines. I’ve had the Merlot and the Sauvignon Blanc, and they’re pretty good. And you can’t beat box wine for convenience.
It’s the bota cab. Not going to get accolades in Wine Spectator, but it’s good enough.
Not much of a wino so I like Bota for cooking. Convenient for storing in the fridge in between. I have noticed the nozzle leaks somewhat from time to time.
Haven’t run into the leak issue. But I run through a box in short order.
Might just be left over wine beyond the cutoff mechanism or bad box then. Still would buy it again.

Utterly surreal watching that happen. Can only imagine the bricks being shit by the secret service over Trump walking onto North Korean soil. Hearing tales of DMZ patrols, armed incidents and firefights, not to mention things like the Axe Murders or the shit the Norks still do, it’s unimaginable that a sitting US president would stroll over unescorted.
“Let’s go for a Big Mac. You look like you could put a few away, Kim. Can I call you Kim? Girl’s name, amirite? But classy!”
It’s beyond cliche at this point, but only Trump could wander into North Korea. Glad he did it, though.
Could you imagine what we would do to them if they harmed the president? I don’t think Kim would risk that.
Anywhere else in the world, I’d trust that. The Norks are the honey badgers of international relations. I wouldn’t expect them to do something but at the same time, I wouldn’t trust them not to. If they have some reason for doing something, they don’t give a fuck.
North Korea would cease to exist within a month if they tried anything, and they know it. Crazy, not stupid.
I think a big part of this is about sticking a finger in the PRC’s eye. Their greatest desire is to be the big dog in the region. They currently have the Norks on a leash, but fantasize about one day cockroach-stomping them to save the ROKs. They want to displace the US from there and be the hegemon, but a welcomed one.
Trump’s taking their zoo and their monkeys.
