Well, first football Sunday of the year. Mom will sit with us and look absolutely bemused. We’ll be drinking, so will have a bemused look of our own. Much food, carrying on the tradition begun by Spud and me back in our California days. So I won’t dwell on this because we have to get ready for kickoff.
Birthdays, of course, shall not be neglected. After all, today is the birthdate of The Hammer; my favorite classical composer; one of the funniest people on TV; a guy who gave political cults even a worse name; possibly the most vacant human but brilliant comic actor who ever lived; and of course, a particularly mendacious and windy leech who embodies everything wrong with government, and we can only hope he finally pops that blood vessel and has his exploding brain splatter Biden and Warren.
And on that cheerful note, the news.
“I had no idea! And I never lie!”
Figure 19 more years of this shit. I can’t decide if I hate Bush, Obama, or Trump the most.
Our professional diplomatic corps.
Sieg HEIL! Next: lessons on winning from the Cleveland Browns.
I am SHOCKED that the MA legal weed program is corrupt.
Old Guy Music takes me back to my Austin days. I saw Dana’s band several times and they were remarkable. Though superficially this is girl-with-guitar, her music is sneaky-intricate and will grow on you with repeated listening. This one starts out slow and simple, then builds layer after layer, with quirky, complex, and delightful rhythms. Brilliant.
mornin’
It’s still dark out.
*raises cup of coffee*
Coffee?
*glances around for cup*
I need more coffee.
I slept in. I get to!
It’s barely eight, that’s not sleeping in, it’s just sleeping.
During the week I get up at 4:30. ? And it’s past 9 in Glibs time.
Old Man Music: Great music and talent, poor choice in camera lenses. Lighting is nothing to cheer about either. Good on choosing black and white though.
SP is usually my in-house critic for that, but her reaction to Dana has always been, “I can’t take her voice.”
Agree with SP, made it about half way and back to Art Blakey.
I can see what SP says – Dana’s vocal timbre might not be everyone’s cuppa. Personally, in this example at least, I don’t mind it – far easier for me to tolerate than Iris DeMent. (I try! I REALLY try to like her, but…) I also see what you mean about the increasing intricacy of this piece. Noice!
Iris has a very unique voice that I think I only like when it’s paired with John Prine.
I think of her voice as “Appalachian” – I associate it with recordings I’ve heard – esp. very old ones – of mountain ballads barely removed from their Celtic roots.
I see what you mean about the layers. It really drew me in about a minute and a half in.
I can’t take the wavering effect on the video. I’m guessing it’s meant to make it dream like, but, just, no.
???
???
It’s hard to know exactly how many times they’ve reached out to each other — or precisely what they’ve discussed — in part because neither camp wants to reveal much of anything about their interaction and in part because they have each other’s phone numbers, and there are many ways for two high-powered politicians to communicate that don’t involve their staffs.
You don’t involve your staff in phone sex.
Except Huma, of course.
Wait a tic–I thought the consensus was that Huma and staff didn’t mix.
I suppose it did at some time – she was married to a Weiner.
♋
After all, today is the birthdate of The Hammer
I thought the Hammer’s birthday was March 30.
I was thinking this: https://tubitv.com/movies/457409
Or, since it’s the first Sunday of football season: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Williamson
But Warren has made little effort to publicly highlight ties to Clinton, who is perceived by many on the left as too centrist and who was defeated in an election Clinton and her allies believe was heavily colored by President Donald Trump waging a misogynistic campaign.
They may believe as they wish.
Well, isn’t that how Obama defeated her? I mean, it’s the only explanation, right?
It’s OK if he did it, because once in office, he worked tirelessly for women’s rights.
I believe he rode a wave of homophobia into office by insisting that marriage was between a man and a woman.
“Sure, Hillary.” – Bill
It’s misogynist to criticize a woman, just like it’s racist to criticize a non-white person.
I woke up hungry, craving some black eyed peas. Just finished preparing it.
Black eyed peas in chicken stock with jalapeños, onion, garlic and lots of bacon. The cornbread I baked in a tiny-muffin pan. Added sour cream, green chilis, sugar substitute and a little extra butter to the standard recipe. They turned out perfection.
I have trouble keeping up with the site since I quit drinking. I feel a lot better, my initiative is back so I get busy. Some years ago I cut a red oak log into a beam 17″ wide, 7″ thick and 10′ long. It was to be a mantle for a house we were planning on building. Mrs. Suthenboy wanted me to carve a Celtic dragon motif for the face of it. My progress dropped off after we decided to buy rather than build. I took it up again, finished the carving on the face board and I am now in the process of staining it.
https://postimg.cc/crmVYQpP%5D%5Bimg%5Dhttps://i.postimg.cc/crmVYQpP/facing.jpg%5B/img%5D%5B/url%5D
Well I screwed that up.
https://postimg.cc/crmVYQpP
Ah, that looks awesome!
thank you.
I am rebuilding a hall tree soon and plan to make a dragon panel (Mrs. Suthenboy’s request. Most women decorate stuff. They have favorite themes. Most women like ducks or giraffes or cutesty whatevers. Mrs. Suthenboy likes dragons. Go figure.)
My wife also likes dragons, and dragonflies. They’re all over the house.
Our place is themed with ? decorations.
Also, she has a funko pop thing, but those stay mostly in her office. To be fair, I have a couple too, but she has a bunch.

I know….I am a novice, give me a break.
I forget where we got the design….Book of Kells?
https://postimg.cc/WdYCYsbn
Suthen, it looks great. If I tried carving a dragon, it’d look like a furry cow.
Dayum! Nice work.
thank you sir.
?
Are you using hand tools only for the carving? We had a guy who used to carve mantles for us, deer and acorns and pines etc… When you went in to his shop in the front room was his work bench with dozens of chisels and mallets. Out of sight in back was his dremels and grinders, sneaky old coot.
Hand tools only on the carvings. Don’t look too close at the details photo, you can see I am still getting the hang of it. It took a ton of hand sanding to erase my many mistakes. Also, I didn’t carve basswood, it was pine which is a bit more difficult. I just went really slow (probably 10 years worth of little starts and fits).
Now I am determined to finish it up and she wants to hang it since there is no mantle to put it on. “Ok, whatever you say, dear.”
Nice work! I dabbled in carving years ago. It takes patience and talent I don’t posses.
That’s amazing.
I’m getting 404 not found
I have trouble keeping up with the site since I quit drinking.
My advice to you is to start drinking again. And you can believe me because I’m a doctor.
I’ll drink to that!
Crap – should have gone with “L’Chayim!”
That is utterly beautiful.
My decorating motif: Matadors and books, no lie.
Thank you very much Mojeaux. The truth is my wife chose the design and drew it out, I just made the wood shavings.
Great work, Suthen. Again I have to give you and the other Glibs with the artistic bent accolades. Not in my wildest dreams could I even begin to think of something like that, let alone try to execute. I’m happy to be able to make a straight cut with a chain saw to make a chopping block.
I enjoy the artistic creations but I’ll have to stick to putting seeds in dirt and hoping some will eventually grow and turn green. Glad I can enjoy what other folks can do, though.
#MeToo, 4X20.
The Marine Corps taught me how to break stuff (blow it up, shoot it, what have you). Creating things with the hands is something… that I admire in others.
That’s really cool, Suthen. Any idea how many hours you have into it?
Do you do commission work? Serious inquiry.
OK, I’ll go OT first: preparing crepe batter for our first football dish.
And we had two corked bottles of wine in a row last night, which really pisses me off.
Suthen did it first – as far as going OT goes.
And we had two corked bottles of wine in a row last night, which really pisses me off.
Blame it on the movers.
Blame it on the stars that shine at night.
Blame it on the rain
But, not Rio?
Ooh, topless Demi Moore.
Ted remembers.
I blame it on the fucking Portuguese.
Many have.
Well, they deserve it.
Blame it on the Bossa Nova.
I don’t know why, but I find that chocolate rabbit photo really funny.
Me too.
Fun Fact – If you ever happen upon a Boxing Nun novelty puppet from Archie McPhee, take a look under its habit. They are all repurposed Boxing Maggie Thatcher novelty puppets.

That’s a pretty solid hit. Also, Irene is a cutie.
OT: Day X (been on vacation long enough to forget what day it is) : Cape Cod
Visited the Cape Cod National Seashore yesterday. Nice weather you’ve got there. Actually, windy and a bit of rain in the morning, but it cleared and was a beautiful afternoon.
Visited Provincetown at the end of Cape Cod, and it was fabuloussss! (NTTAWWT). Went to Provincetown Brewing, which was a neat little spot. I enjoyed their Golden Hook Ale.
Soaked in some legendary Mass. hospitality (sarc). Watched Andreescu take apart Serena. Ate oysters for the first time. They were fried, and pretty tasty. Not sure if I’ll ever want to do raw.
Today, Maatha’s Vineyaad and 2 more breweries.
Ooooohhhh, and I haven’t watched CNN for years until yesterday. Holy crap they can’t go 5 minutes without mentioning that Trump is unfit to be President. Even the weather guy got into it. It’s like they’re not even pretending to try to appear to be impartial. Jesus, I can’t believe that people take them seriously.
“I can’t believe that people take them seriously.”
I have seen a few brain-dead repeating the claim that he got his loans with Russian Oligarchs co-signing for him. People believe what they want to believe, facts be damned. What confuses me are why so many people that have zero stake in what they are complaining about hate him with such passion. Hey dummies, when he said he was going to drain the swamp, he didn’t mean you. He meant the corrupt, criminal trashbags you keep electing to office.
The bleat goes on
By now, women and queer people know how much it costs to confront male violence. The developer Zoë Quinn, who has already faced some of the most poisonous online harassment as enemy number one of Gamergate, went public last week about the extensive emotional and sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of their former partner, developer Alec Holowka. (Quinn uses they/them pronouns.) Others, including Albertine Watson, also came forward about Holowka’s behavior. Like Quinn, and like most people who have been subject to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, they had thought they were the only ones—until someone broke their silence.
——-
Then, on Saturday, August 31, Holowka took his own life. This is a tragic story for everyone involved: for Holowka’s family, for his coworkers, and for the women he allegedly victimized over the years. Nothing has been proved in a court of law, but Holowka’s colleagues were quite clear that they find the allegations credible.
——-
The family’s wishes have been ignored; the backlash against Quinn and others has been relentless. According to the logic of an army of concern-trolls, Quinn has blood on their hands. They should have taken Holowka’s fragility into account before “ruining his life.” They are worse than a murderer. Quinn deleted their Twitter account after a barrage of harassment and threats, many of them from people who consider Quinn’s chief crime “inciting harassment.”
The scale of hypocrisy here is so staggering it’s almost impressive. People, often young women, who dare to speak up can expect to face public harassment and private retribution. Young women can expect to be punished for the crimes men commit against them—but if they dare to speak up, they are the ones who are “ruining lives.”
The response to the death of Alec Holowka throws this double standard into razor-sharp relief. The harassment of Quinn and others has nothing to do with concern for Holowka and his family and everything to do with making examples of women and queer people who dare to speak out. The message is clear: Men’s mental health matters more than women’s. Men’s suffering and self-loathing is treated as a public concern, because men are permitted to be real people whose inner lives and dreams matter. Who cares, then, how many women they destroy along the way?
For a small but vicious and dedicated sector of gamers, the humanity of women has long been an insulting proposition.
More “inside gamergate” dirty-laundry-airing, I guess. It all seems so melodramatic, from outside the bubble.
All accusations without evidence made by women should be believed, and if men’s lives are unfairly destroyed, it’s the men’s fault anyway.
Sounds legit.
” Men’s mental health matters more than women’s. ”
Men’s mental health? The man is dead. But they had no problem hand waving that away as if he should just man up or something.
It also seems like a safe bet it is bullshit.
There was a time when Wired wasn’t a dumpster fire, wasn’t there?
stop reading wired?
So nothing pokes a pin in the side of the weekend like your kiddo having a seizure during supper. His first in over 2 years. We were supposed to be “let go” from seizure meds later this month, probably not going to happen now.
This one was worse than the last- longer & more intense in my opinion. At least we were both home to help out. He took it easy the rest of the night, had some good sleep and is back to his cheerful self. Me and LH, not so much – need caffeine – no coffee to be made at home so we are on the way to get groceries. Hoping for a quiet day.
Well, that sucks. How old is he now?
So sorry to hear that. It must be that much more distressing when you likey thought you were “out of the woods.” I know nothing about seizure disorders, but I’m curious: when they were more frequent, were they less intense and vice versa?
Also wish you a quiet day/week/month etc.
(“likey” s/b “likely.” Time to trim my nails.)
Sorry to read that. Did it involve a trip to the doctor or ER as well?
Hopefully today is better.
Very sorry to hear about this.
Rough.
Sorry to hear.
I am very sorry to hear that. I hope the best for kiddo.
Hope all will be well
Oh, I am so sorry. May you have another very very long period of calm.
Damn. That is no good. Hopefully a solution is there somewhere.
Thanks for the kind words. He’s 18 now. We are thinking he was dehydrated as a “cause” for last night, but will call the neurologist in the AM on Monday. No trip to ER as they’d just say “well, come back if it happens again, or call the neurologist . . . in the meantime, rest and hydrate.” So we opted not to go unless he had a second one.
Sorry.
Zooming along the high road
Sen. Kamala Harris apologized Saturday following criticism that the California Democrat and presidential candidate laughed and responded, “Well said,” to a lengthy question from a voter who had called President Donald Trump’s actions “mentally retarded.”
Harris’ presidential campaign account tweeted an apology, calling a video of the incident that was circulated on social media “upsetting,” and denied she had heard the offensive term.
“I didn’t hear the words the man used in that moment, but if I had I would’ve stopped and corrected him. I’m sorry. That word and others like it aren’t acceptable. Ever,” she wrote on Twitter.
Stop insulting honest, hard-working retards by comparing them to that moron.
Here’s what bothers me. They are only enforcing the idea that politicians are “better” than regular people. The idea being you can ruin people’s lives as long as you don’t say the wrong thing.
Are there any Dem candidates that haven’t openly said to millions of Americans that they will make them felons with a stroke of their pen? Or worse, outright kill them?
Any that haven’t promised to turn the economy into shambles overnight? Openly denigrated voters as less than human?
Yeah, Trump is the retarded one.
Is it wrong to want to nuke Nazis? / Leftist
If you have nothing to hide….
LOL
So, she didn’t hear his words, but she commented “well said”? How does that make any sense at all?
She is a fucking liar?
It was a lengthy comment and she apparently got the gist of it but didn’t catch the ratfucker part. (Ratfucker is the R-word) correct?) It’s a reasonable defense.
You crack me up. Someone says a word which is now a Level 2 Hate Word, and nobody notices?
Meh, it was at a town hall thing, you think anyone listens to what the idiot at the mic says after the first two or three seconds? She was probably already planning her response and how she can work it back around to one of her stump issues by the time he got to “ratfucker.”
More likely she heard it at the time, and because she or her cohorts use it in private among themselves, it didn’t register as “bad.”
Yes, I think most politicians are hypocrites.
Is this today’s prog update?
It is OK to call for a recession if it prevents his re-election. It is OK to call for Dorian to destroy Mar-a-Lago. It is not OK to use that phrase, even when it is used to insult Orange Bad Man and not, in context, used neither to insult nor non-insultingly describe someone of literally double-digit IQ. There is a line it is not acceptable to cross in calling the Orange Man ‘bad.’
“LaRouche was a presidential candidate in every election from 1976 through 2004, running once for his own U.S. Labor Party and seven times for the Democratic Party nomination.”
That’s an interesting nugget. I bet you the common belief would be he’d run for the GOP.
Every time I hear someone say “Libertarians are racist/nazi/white supremacist/etc” and cite as justification the fact that [insert asshole’s name here] calls himself a libertarian, I respond by pointing out that Lyndon LaRouche calls himself a Democrat.
Other notable Ds include serial killer John Wayne Gacy and Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps.
Why in the world would the US Embassy tweet praising Mugabe? What the hell?
I wouldn’t talk if my prime minister was Fidel Castro’s son.

War on Truth
Trump took aim at White House reporters Ashley Parker and Philip Rucker, who were the authors of the article.
“The Washington Post’s @PhilipRucker (Mr. Off the Record) & @AshleyRParker, two nasty lightweight reporters, shouldn’t even be allowed on the grounds of the White House because their reporting is so DISGUSTING & FAKE,” he tweeted.
Rucker’s new nickname “Mr. Off the Record” appeared to be a reference to claims spread by members of Trump’s circle that he was responsible for repeating off-the-record comments about Trump’s family made by former White House aide Madeleine Westerhout. Westerhout resigned last week, reportedly after those comments got back to the White House.
The Post recently backed Rucker over that claim when it first emerged, telling Politico in a statement that Rucker “has always acted with the utmost honor and integrity and has never violated Washington Post standards or policies.” On Saturday, the Post’s Executive Editor Martin Baron said the president’s tweet was part of an effort to intimidate the press.
“The Washington Post is immensely proud to have these two superb journalists on staff. Philip Rucker and Ashley Parker have consistently demonstrated their integrity in covering the White House,” Baron said in a statement. “We stand fully behind them and their important work. The president’s statement fits into a pattern of seeking to denigrate and intimidate the press. It’s unwarranted and dangerous, and it represents a threat to a free press in this country.”
Rucker “has always acted with the utmost honor and integrity and has never violated Washington Post standards or policies.”
“Our policy is to tell ’em anything, as long as you get the dirt.”
Hey he could have called them overweight.
Rucker “….. has never violated Washington Post standards or policies.”
No doubt true.
“Philip Rucker and Ashley Parker have consistently demonstrated their integrity in covering the White House,”
Why yes, yes they have.
Shit or get off the pot Trump. If that one guy broke off the record confidentiality then nan him from the press pool. Whining about while doing nothing makes you look like a pussy.
So after apricots (mixed), apricot stone/seed/etc no, blackberries (yes) and green walnuts (no).
Do Americans eat shell on hazelnuts. I mean you break the shell, but the point is they are not dry like the shelled stuff nor toasted or anything. Completely different texture. Here they are good mid september to mid october, after they dry in the shell.
i am to fat to eat hazelnuts right now but can’t stop eating to many this time of the year.
Hazel nut trees as you know them are susceptible to a fungus common in North America. We take what we can get in the way of imports. However, we are working on a cross variety between old world hazelnut trees and the American hazelnut that shows promise of being resistant.
The American hazelnut is a shrub, not a tree and its nuts are much smaller. People gather them wild or cultivate them in their yards but they aren’t economically viable as a crop. We are in the process of fixing that.
No, we eat Nutella instead.

Or these. I just tried Pan di Stella. It’s a crunchy, deeper chocolate. There’s another one from Milan but the name escapes me. A lot more smoother than Nutella.

I swear to God, my word as a Biden.
What utter horseshit this notion of ditching fossil fuels is. Good God. What they mean is they intend to wean YOU off of fossil fuels, bind you to the land where you will scratch around with a sharp stick to grow their food.

It’s idiocy, especially in combination with an anti-nuclear policy. If the American people vote for this nonsense we’re finished.
Brawndo, it’s what cars crave. It has electrolytes.
I am very confident Trump wins re-election but find it very troublesome that the Dems are openly advocating insanity. They want to dictate where and how people can travel, what they will be allowed to eat, what they are allowed to say and what words they must use, deny them the means for self defense, destroy our ability to create wealth or accumulate it…..they want to control every aspect of American life Nork style. It is incredible that they haven’t been tarred and feathered. If our worst fears come true I fear there will be more than a little push back on that. I wouldn’t say civil war is impossible.
It’s for their own good. They should be more grateful. Instead for some reason they are resentful.
I think Trump will be reelected barring a recession or something really stupid on gun control or in foreign policy but he won’t be the president forever. Eventually these lunatics are going to achieve power and then we’ve got a problem.
I am wishful thinking that they are only blowing this insanity out of their ass now because they know they have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning. They are catering to the lunatic fringe knowing they cant get elected right now. I don’t know why they would do that, but that is my hope. When they see an actual chance of winning elections they will swing back center. Center-ish at least.
They live in a bubble and have no clue how the average American lives, especially in flyover country and the suburbs.
Some number of them don’t actually believe what they’re saying. People like Biden; there is no way he actually believes the far left shit he’s been throwing out there. If he gets the nomination, he’ll be very different in the general. And I think some number of the rest of them are in the same boat.
“they want to control every aspect of American life Nork style”
Hasn’t that been the progressive project all along?
So what is everyone drinking? For me Smerenie 2016, the gault millau best Romanian wine for 2019 (i don’t pay much attention to this shit but they predictably stuck a sticker on the label).
It is not bad. But it seems so ready to drink I doubt it will greatly improve with aging. I got 2 bottles for a good price.

The need to brush one’s teeth is a capitalist fallacy employed to keep us down by having us give all our money to dentists and their corporate masters, making them rich and us poor. It’s probably even misogynist and racist!!11!!!!

My Audio Video Receiver is on its last legs. Sadly, a replacement NAD that I was considering just got an awful review. So I’m essentially starting over on my search for a new AVR.
On the plus side this just popped up on my play list:
小さな恋のうた (Song of a small love)
This one is one of my goto selections for karaoke, but it’s quick tempo makes phrasing really, really tough. I’m usually struggling towards the end.
awful review
Let me guess- ASR? Amir was brutal.
That’s the one! That receiver is a $1,200 POS.
I’m just going to have to give up and buy an Onkyo/Integra or Marantz/Denon. Which are lesser POS. But the most of the budget went for connectivity, bluetooth and shitload of stuff I won’t ever use. Whatever was left over went to the lightest power supply power supply possible for manufacturing cost and shipping. Sigh…
I’ve had Sony forever and never had an issue. I confess I am fairly deaf, so nuances of sound are lost on me.
We HiFi people are an odd bunch.
Most normal people don’t care. And even for those of us that do the differences may not really be audible.
One of my favorite business names.
Or you could just be getting older.
When I was 20, I could hear all kinds of nuances that are forever beyond my 61-year-old ears. The upside of this is that a $300.00 receiver sounds just great, and there’s no advantage for me in buying a $3,000.00 receiver, so I save a lot of money that way. ’Course, I just find new ways to spend it …

But now Democrats believe guns could be a defining issue in 2020, as they make gains with suburban voters, especially college-educated women fearful for their children’s safety in school.
“For the first time in more than two decades, we believe that guns could be an issue that matters in a real and positive way for Democrats,” said Matt Bennett, executive vice-president for public affairs at Third Way, a centrist Democratic thinktank.
But Bennett worries Democrats risk alienating voters frustrated with Trump’s presidency if they go too far with measures like licensing and gun buybacks.
“The danger is that we’re moving away from ideas that have near-universal support among voters to ones that have closer to 50% support,” Bennett said. “Congress hasn’t done anything for 25 years, so maybe we should start with something that’s universally popular.”
But many advocates believe the moment for bold reform is now.
“The center has shifted on this issue,” said Igor Volsky, executive director and founder of Guns Down America, which organizes for “a future with fewer guns”. “The approach we’re seeing now reflects the political reality and the political environment that we’re living in.”
Go for it. Those “95% of Americans want [X]” polls are infallible indicators. Especially when [X] is some completely ethereal aspiration with no concrete plan for implementation.
“Do you want everybody in America to be safe and happy?”
Sure, I do. But I’d like a little more specificity on your methods of bringing that about.
Gun “buybacks” have 50% support? I’d like to see the data on that.
Regardless, popularity is irrelevant when it comes to basic rights. If you wanna grab guns, get enough support to repeal 2A; otherwise Fuck Off Slaver.
Nah, it means using taxpayer funds to pay you something less than 50 % of gun value. Zero is something less…
Compensated confiscation is the wave of the future.
It hasn’t occurred to them yet, or they haven’t admitted to it, that simply shooting gun owners for furtive movements saves them having to shell out cash for guns.
So, a police state?
They mistake the antigun hysteria on the left for popular support of draconian measures. I guess we’ll find out for better or worse if they’re right.
especially college-educated women fearful for their children’s safety in school.
More proof a college degree does not make you smarterer.
That’s no shit.
So my car won’t start. I mean not even struggle a bit before failing. Just nothing. I hope it is the battery. If I measure it it seems the voltage looks ok but goes down to practically 0 whenever I put the key in.
Cranking current. Battery has gone to meet Jesus.
Damn Soviet autos.
its an opel made by GM
Same difference.
GM as in GOVERNMENT MOTORS?
make sure to check the battery connections….I mean thermostat….before giving up on the battery. Sometimes corrosion between the battery posts and the thermostat…..I mean cables will cause exactly what you describe.
Just putting the key in drops the voltage? What kind of sorcery is this?
well also turning it
Ya, your battery is fooked.
I had exactly the same thing a few weeks ago. You need a new battery (assuming your posts are clean, IYKWIM).
These are useful.
Nice. Chuckie and the Meet the Press gang are on the “Trump’s LIES” beat.
Can the President’s word be trusted? How can Congress negotiate with this compulsive fibber?
“Level playing field”.
If I measure it it seems the voltage looks ok but goes down to practically 0 whenever I put the key in.
Could be the starter. Turn everything on. Lights (high beams), heater fan, whatever, and see if they fade out.
Got jumper cables and a friend (with a car)?
yes could be that as well. the baterry is more than 5 years old so hope it is that as it is cheaper
…and what Suthen said in #32. Had those same problems before since I’m a low maintenance kind of guy.
I assume you mean “turn the key to start” by *whenever I put the key in.*
For me, it was “put the key in and turn partway.” There was voltage , but not enough and no end of weird electrical goings on. Nothing at all from the starter means dead as a door nail.
“Our professional diplomatic corps.” Which are being paid for by taxes and/or the kind(s) of borrowing to be repaid by taxes. Donation not taxation.
the baterry is more than 5 years old so hope it is that as it is cheaper
Cheaper, and MUCH easier to replace.
Great. Now Amy Klobuchar’s gruesome visage is plastered on my teevee. She’s talking about gunz.

If you think reading the Washington Post gives you a good feel for the “pulse of America” you’re going to be disagreeably surprised on a regular basis.
“This unlikeliest of Presidents”
Who the fuck voted for that guy? Not me. Not anybody I know.
+1 Nixon
We just got back from the elephant sanctuary. They’ve MASSIVELY updated their facilities, so good on them for reinvesting donations into the quality of their facilities. The guide was the same as last year and he remembered us. We had a fantastic time and all of our photos are beautiful.
The people there were cool. Our van had two Israeli chicks and a Brazilian guy who teaches art design at a university in Munich. He was interesting and insightful. Sadly, right before we left for our apartment…I kinda passed the amount of time where I can be out, in-public and ‘on’ without being paid. So I had crazy anxiety on the open-ish ride on the way back. Tried to just listen to podcast. Didn’t exactly work and my level of anxiety is still flashing warning lights.
Thankfully Lady and Guest are shopping/getting a massage, respectively, so I have a bit of needed Alone Time. I think I’ll take a Valium. I’ll be fine in not too long but I hate how this shit happens. Typing this out helped. Thanks and maybe I’ll be able to post some pictures sometime soon.
Sounds like a fun trip. Sorry the late onset of anxiety put a damper on the experience. Agoraphobia or more like social anxiety? Does listening to something usually help? If so, which works better – talking (hence the podcast) or music?
Hope you’re feeling more relaxed now. Looking forward to the pics!
Everything is largely sorted now. So that’s good. If people want eight or more hours of me being On Point, they’re gonna have to pay me. It’s my cutoff point. Exhausting mentally.
I can’t listen to music anymore, really. I used to get new stuff and test it out in the car. But as a drummer, I can’t have it as background sound and I love music and it will overcome my ability to concentrate. I can’t listen in public because I’ll drum and get all wild. So podcasts it is.
It’s definitely social anxiety, very lightly on the spectrum. Not as bad as my dad. My batteries have a lot of juice but they run out quickly. Much Alone Time is always needed.
Yay drumming! Hope you have some form of electro kit so you can pound any whenever w/o raising the ire of those nearby. I’ve found it very therapeutic at times.
Glad you’re feeling better.
The deep thinkers are saying, “go on, give up the incremental stuff like red flags and background checks” because then the
godsgungrabbers will be appeased, and will ask no more.Har dee fucking har.
You could just stay home then. You may not like seeing sausage made, but it gets made everyday.
https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2019/09/07/twitter-transforms-interesting-people-preachers-wokeness/
The guy is just figuring out that Twitter rewards towing the woke lion?
Twitter is a great example of herd mentality.
Is it just me, or has the word “problematic” become a euphemism for “I would really like to ban this form of speech I don’t like, but I know that technically I’m not supposed to want to ban speechy stuff”?
I’m not sure the last part applies because they would ban it all if they had the juice, but yeah, problematic is anything the “woke” crowd fines objectionable.
There was a Twitter chat on romance novels yesterday and the question was, “How long have you been reading romance and what was the one that got you hooked?” Someone said the 70s and 80s books that “are problematic now.” I said the problematic elements are all still going strong, but now they’ve each got their separate subgenres. Nobody answered that. The reason they have separate subgenres because PEOPLE LIKE THEM and got pissy when the elements were woked out of normal romance novels.
Also, the “fated mate” trope is just another way of saying “forced seduction” and “dubious consent.”
We watched Curse of the Black Pearl last night. “Fated Mate” was a main story line. I’m sure everything with Depp in it is now problematic.
I’m still stuck on ‘cunte’ 😉
I will consider myself a true Glib when everyone starts spelling it that way!
Yep. I was annoyed recently to read some fellow Jodi Taylor fans get all squirmy about a sexy & hilarious sex scene on the hood of a wrecked car in Just One Damned Thing After Another. Oh, fer cryin’ out loud, people! She’d just offered the guy a blow job (which is when/why he wrecked the car.) Were they supposed to formally renegotiate the terms of what forms of sexual contact were acceptable? /end rant
Yes.
And I am completely serious.
::Kif sigh::
“Problematic” is a fawncy word for “I no like, but I can’t articulate why”.

Kimber is sharp! What model and barrel length?

My first Kimber.
That is badass. I don’t owns Kimber but have definitely admired their product line over the years.
I would like both. Are your neighbors steak thieves?
*looks around suspiciously*
Ya can’t be to careful…
Also, if you’re still reading, Pie- get the car running and put the volt meter on the battery to make sure the charging system is working.
“I can’t decide if I hate Bush, Obama, or Trump the most.”
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
I think it’s a safe bet to hate FDR and LBJ the most.
Why not put it in a go cart?

Paul Walker approves.
God knows what it would cost to do that right – new transmission and suspension, and its hard to tell, but you may need a new custom hood that’s a little more swole.
But holy crap, is my pp hard. WANT!
I like the song.
I have been on an Anne Harris kick lately.
Wow. Love the combo of mountainy/bluegrassy instruments, drums (usually absent in mountain/bluegrass, dammit,) and WWDV (Woman With Deep Voice – my dream radio station.)
Now I have a sudden craving to hear her go voice-to-voice and fiddle-to-fiddle with Alison Krauss.
Yep. Gotta have that mezzo-soprano and even better, alto.
…fiddle-to-fiddle with Alison Krauss
Kids, this is how you euphemism!
Very nice. She rocks that fiddle. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome! I fell in love with her on Jack’s Big Music Show.
Sometimes people catch my eye. Now, I have the worst eye for faces so everybody looks alike to me. When someone catches my eye and I can remember who they are, I take notice. They don’t have to be handsome or pretty, or even freakish or disfigured. They just have to be unique. She caught my eye.
I like her. This was a few down in the sidebar.
I’ve spent this Sunday morn cooking for the week.
My wife wanted beef stew this week for her lunch, so we used up all of the old potatoes, carrots, and celery. My wife preps and I cooked it.
My wife made soba noodle salad as a starch and vegetable for our weekly dinners. Soba, carrots, ginger, scallions, blanched green beans, agave, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil.
I’m not quite as motivated. Have some bacon on stove for Bacon and Egg sandwiches. Will probably do something with chicken and leeks for dinner. Love that combo. Maybe make some soup with them, with egg noodles and celery.
I picked up some NY strips to grill for salads this week. For tonight, I’m going to grill a huge batch of jerk wings.
Yum
That sounds good!
Good morning Old Man and all you casually nefarious shitlords!
I listened to the song twice. The first time I didn’t care for it, but the second time through the layers really came through. Nice song.
While out walking this morning, I listened to some of Canada’s finest.
This album is terrific.
Commence rocking until the games start!
“Casually Nefarious Shitlords” would be a great band name. Or even just “The Casually Nefarious”.
Today I feel casually slothful which I think is a way better band name. I don’t have the energy to be nefarious.
I’m still stuck on ‘cunte’
“Ye olde cunte?”
How olde are we talking?
Did you miss this?
I haven’t gotten as far as that chapter yet, but I suspect it’s a reasonably (or maybe unreasonably) yonge cunte.
No cunte in that book is older than 31.
What a shame. MILFy cuntes need a stabbin too.
3 of the 5 are MILFs.
Did you miss this?
Yup.
Family friendly, confirmed.
I do my best.
