Oh crap, is it Monday again? Let’s see, this weekend, my boys got to pet several reptiles, feed baby alligators, look at a couple of sloths, and had a great time running around the street with kids from 3 other families. The last part was more of a zoo than the other visit, but also very much a throwback to my memories of how things used to be, only with a shit-load more adult supervision. Hopefully, the supervision can go away as the kids get older. (In fairness, the average age was probably 5, with a high of 8 and a low of 2, so… intensive adult supervision is probably warranted.) Oh, and my eye works 100% again, or as close as it ever got to that.
That’s not how any of this works. I was unaware that basic BoR protections didn’t apply to impeachment. Since it is a Constitutionally defined criminal case, I am frankly confused as to how that could be.
Cops angry that gang colors not allowed at work.
ATM latest target of Florida Man bombing. I really need to bring that bit back.
NYC residents show appropriate respect to NYPD.
Lets do a little classic punk.
SugarFree’s Dem Deathwatch
O Beto! my Beto! our media frenzy is done,
The hype has weather’d no reflection, the prize we deserved is lost,
State office is near, the bells I hear, the people all exhausted,
While follow eyes the slipping polls, the bandwagon grim and daring;
But O Beto! Beto! Beto!
O the half-assed Spanish…
Where the table my Beto stands,
Yodeling furry and politically dead.
Also:
How are people I can’t even recognize still in the race?
Cause there is no requirement that they actually drop out. None of them are running to win. Sure they may say they are but that is just because it is necessary to keep whatever volunteers they have motivated. In the meantime they are raising as much money as they can and milking as much of that campaign money into their own pockets as they can get away with while angling to cut a deal with one of the frontrunners to drop out and then support them once primary season begins.
The race at this point is between Biden, Warren, and Sanders
Then you have…
Buttigieg: My guess here is he is raising his profile with plans to take a run at Todd Young’s seat in the Senate in 22. Also makes a good VP pick for Biden
Harris: She’ll probably try again in 24 so she needs to stay in at least through Iowa and NH. May also be angling for a VP nod but I don’t really see her being that attractive a pick for anytone
Yang who at this point is basically just running to keep the UBI idea in the news and maybe set himself up to try again in 24 should Trump win again
Williams who is doing it to sell more books and self help shit once the race is over
Kloubchar: likely angling for a cabinet post or ambassadorship and may try again in 24
Booker: Wants to be VP so he needs to stay in long enough to pick up a few delegates to bargain with. If not VP will settle for a cabinet post. HUD maybe?
Gabbard: Not really sure. No way anyone at the top of the ticket gives her anything and she has to know she can’t win. I think it is part keeping her message of not bombing the rest of the world out there and part she may be hoping to sow the seeds of reforming the Democratic party from the bottom up (pipe dream I know). Also possible she has reached the point of burning the party down and may run 3rd party
Everyone else, see above.
Good analysis. That comports with my views. Although I also see Buttgieg or Booker as good VP picks for Warren. Klobuchar is a “maybe” VP pick for Biden.
Gabbard is still in because she’s a Russian asset seeking to sow discord. Everyone knows this.
Anyone can run for president. Every election there are something like 20 Americans officially running for President, even if only like 4 or 5 actually get ballot access. And they get votes, even if just in the low thousands or mere hundreds. My favorite is the fact that the Prohibition Party (yes, that Prohibition) still runs a candidate – last election they even got over 5,000 votes. Maybe it’s time for the Glibertarian Party to run a candidate?
WE ARE LEGION
*does some quick math*
Um,er,…WE ARE COHORT.
*gives downturned thumb*
Still too many? I was being generous and counted the lurkers.
Is there a race? Is it a pointless event where people go round in circles, burning enormous amounts of energy to finish where they began?
Hmmm… I guess there is a race.
So it looks like the 5 on the bottom rows except for Biden will be the next to leave the race.
Two more and its tic tac toe!
There’s a Hollywood Squares joke in here somewhere.
Not this, I presume?
I prefer tic tac camel-toe.
Is that when you can hold a Tic-Tac in it?
Minty!
Oldsmar, tee hee… When I was a teen punk, Oldsmar was the area where all of the white power skinheads lived. We would often clash with them at shows at Janus Landing. Good times.
Who are these people?
Is Bullock still in? I have no idea.
The other day, I saw some stupid enraging ad for RealID- “Get yours now, before you become an unperson!”.
Thanks, Steve, you worthless douchebag. At least Schweitzer told the feds to fuck off on that.
Some of us have to fly for work. We’re fucked on that.
Remember when the Soviet Union had internal passports and we did not. And this was taken as a sign of our system’s superiority.

Still accepting donations. I assume at this point it is just going into a slush fund to pay off farmers for the livestock he fucked to prolapse.
Moo!
Outstanding song choice. Rat Scabies is one of my two favorite punk drummers, the other being Spit Stix of Fear.
Also, HELL YEAH!!!!! on the musical selection. I’ve seen The Damned almost as many times as I’ve seen Parliament/Funkadelic/George/Bootsy, easily 100 times. I LOVE The Damned.
Vanian can still really sing
I love his voice.
#metoo This song is tied with Curtain Call as my favorite Damned work.
Me three. I like his early punk snarling as well as his later Elvis-style crooning.
I’m not clear on this. I thought it was a political act in the House, and criminal in the Senate
it’s politics all the way down
The House can indict a ham sandwich
the Senate can ignore murder
I don’t know why anyone cares about this at all
Because OrangeManBad. His administration is terrorizing people. People like Hunter Biden.
^This. I’ve got a longer piece on the current status coming up this evening at 7:00 server time.
I like how the media is already pushing “Democrats are taking back the Senate in 2020!”
I assume the media is wrong until proven otherwise.
It’s easier and more accurate than other approaches.
While not impossible, it’s not likely. The Ds would have to win 4 seats, but most of the states up for election already have Senators that align with their general voting preference. Only Colorado (R), Maine (R), and Alabama (D) are currently out of step, so I’d bet the results will be a shift of 1 toward the Ds. It’s still far out, but I don’t see a wave building to upend expectations.
So then a political act can not compel anyone to testify either.
They could probably compel testimony from private citizens. Executive privilege only works for people high up in the administration. How far that extends has not been defined.
Since constitutionally the branches are co-equal, the legislative can’t order the executive to do something anymore than the executive can order the legislative to do something.
Me neither. But yes, it’s political theater for now, as I understand it.
I’m sure the Dems will have no trouble finding a local judge to rule in their favor and reel them in, though.
FTA: When it came to “Latinx,” there was near unanimity. Despite its usage by academics and cultural influencers, 98% of Latinos prefer other terms to describe their ethnicity.
https://medium.com/@ThinkNowTweets/progressive-latino-pollster-trust-me-latinos-do-not-identify-with-latinx-63229adebcea
NPR hardest hit.
So 98% of La-TEEEEENKS are actual neo-colonial racists? HOW DARE THEY DEFY COLLEGE PROFESSORS AND PROFESSIONAL PROTESTERS!
For real. What would brown bodies know about what brown bodies prefer to be called, and why should upper middle class progressive egg-heads care what they think anyway?
They’re suffering from internalized white supremacy.
I really don’t have a dog in this fight, but it seems the problem is not that non-binary people call themselves Latinx, but that for the sake of the feelings of 0.001% of the population they want everyone to change to this clunky, non-grammatical nonsense.
Are they going to change all gendered words in Spanish to -x? Imagine the chaos of that…
NPR has been pushing on it hard. The twenty-something vocal fried uptalkers never fail to use the Latinx term. They’re quite proud of it.
Eh, it only offends brown people. What are they going to do, stop listening to NPR? Oh, wait…
They just need to guiding hand of a bunch of do-gooders to improve their language and eliminate bias. It’s the white man’s, er, white person’s burden.
How do they pronounce it on NPR?
xt
Latin-ex
Sounds like a condom brand to me.
That would be sold as Latin-X
Is that what Racer-X would be named if he were from Mexico?
The original Mexican Bob will now be known as Mexican Box.
Sounds like a Mexican band that covers X songs led by Exene Cervantes.
Latíííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííííínx.
Are they going to change all gendered words in Spanish to -x?
There you go with all that ‘intellectual consistency’ stuff. The progs pushing this don’t really much care about intellectual consistency. It’s about making everyone else comply with their dictates. And, in that context, the fact that it’s utterly inconsistent with the rest of the demands they want to demand compliance with is more a feature than a bug.
Yeah, I’ve pointed out that issue to people. You want to take a romance language, where almost all of the language is heavily dependent on gender, and just change that? Good fucking luck with that.
A language that doesn’t belong to you, no less. The official Spanish academy in Spain has already disgustedly rejected “Latinx”.
I can tell you that Brazilians will laugh at that shit, and that’s the end of it.
Since the ‘x’ is supposed to replace the ‘o’/’a’, I vote they change it from “Latinx” to “Latinoa”.
Or they could use the perfectly serviceable and grammatical “Latin”, like the music genre, but that’s less fun.
There was literally a push (before latinx won out) to use “latin@” to combine the o and a.
Oh yeah, I ‘member that now.
Latinat?
Ha, that’s great. What a world.
“people call themselves Latinx”
What the fuck? That sounds like a tampon. Just fucking stop this planet, I want off.
I’ve just met a girl named Marix
And suddenly that name will never be the same to me
Marix, I’ve just kissed a girl named Marix
And suddenly I’ve found how wonderful a sound can be
It was invented by woke white people for woke white people & anyone else they could guilt-trip into using it.
…
LOL “Hispanic” was the top response by a wide margin?! I though that was already deadnamed.
How dare people have the right to their own identity!
I just think it’s hilarious that only 24% of them even hopped on the “Latino” train that the media have been pushing for, what, a couple decades now?
I saw something the other day where they x’d a pronoun. I don’t remember exactly, but it was something like they used ellxs instead of ellos or ellas.
It was as absurd as it sounds.
Over/under until they start teaching that in Spanish class in US schools?
-365 days?
I’m guessing someone is there already.
Probably in a mostly white suburb of San Franciscx.
I’m just going to roll with the assumption that most latino people are trans and let them correct me.
Because FYTW

It was both hilarious and sad that this rich kid who never had a real job in his life was heavily promoted by the media as some kind of political prodigy.
+1 Mr. Pitts, please rise above your own name.
Are you calling him some sort of white Obama?
That seems kinda racist, Mr. Irish.
According to testimony from several current and former administration officials in recent weeks, Perry was one of three administration officials who were charged with running a shadow foreign policy toward Ukraine and working closely with Giuliani.
If they were working on behalf of the President of the United States, how is that a “shadow” anything?
Because the Mandarins at the Dept of State did not approve!
You misspelled Manchurians.
They assume whatever the president is doing is shadowy because the president is doing it?
Probably a good assumption in most cases really. Mind you it should be applied to all presidents.
It should be applied a lot harder to all other Presidents.
Exactly, the President runs foreign policy, not the State Dept. apparatchiks.
The State Department has been rife with overeducated, technocratic quislings since at least the 1930’s. Say what you will about him but Senator McCarthy was dead on in regards to this.
Re: the impeachment inquiry. The President is invoking executive privilege by not allowing his aides and advisors to testify. Whether or not this will stand will probably be decided by SCOTUS, hence the appointment of Justice Kavanaugh.
It has also occurred to me (rustles tinfoil) that Pelosi, et als, could have inside information about an impending Ginsburg resignation and want to force Trump to appoint another executive privilege justice instead of someone like Amy Coney Barrett.
Why? Unless they can change the Constitution to a direct election of the President the future of the Democratic party does not look too rosy in either the White House or Senate. Sure they look good for the popular vote but the further they move left the harder time they are going to have gaining traction in flyover country where the majority of the EC and Senate seats are
Nobody needs 50 states.
The user-left will eventually be saying that. They’ll sell it as a tax cut (less government!) but it will be a bailout and consolidation of power like forcing Indiana and Illinois to be combined into one state. This exact thing happened within Illinois in the 80’s. And it’s pretty similar to the original vision of Obamacare.
My computer does not like the ATM explosion link. All kinds of crazy pop up shit.

You have no avatar in my view.
At least Ted respects the identity of my carby circle.
Ha. I didn’t even notice. Gravatar wouldn’t work for me at some point in the distant past and I uploaded the other one directly to the site. I guess while I was out of town the avatar system broke and it seems to have defaulted back to Gravatar. All’s well that ends well, I suppose.
SP made the icky Gravatar go away. Welcome back.
Crepes of Wrath?
The House investigation focuses on whether Trump abused the power of his office in his attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate a political rival, and if so, whether those actions meet the standard for “high crimes and misdemeanors” deserving of impeachment and, potentially, removal from office.
I thought they were pissed because the White House wasn’t extending the usual “professional courtesy” of looking the other way about the Biden family business.
“That’s not how any of this works.”
We’re the fucking House, the fucking House I tell you! It works how we say it works! Shut up and obey, peasants!
Still accepting donations. I assume at this point it is just going into a slush fund to pay off farmers for the livestock he fucked to prolapse.
He’s term limited out of the governor spot. It’ll probably go for a down payment on a place on Flathead Lake.
Flathead. Sounds like a nice name for a nature preserve were one can go to observe retired and paroled state Democratic politicians in their natural habitat.
But we have to have that eugenics program, because we don’t yet have nationalized healthcare.
Shit, that reply belongs with your next comment, SF.
“Cops angry that gang colors not allowed at work.”
I’m pretty sure that some plaque with colors on it are the least of our worries about cops. Make whatever symbols you want, just stop shooting innocent people who were dumb enough to call you.
Since three-wheeler ATVs were banned, there aren’t as many easy options for getting a wife or child or obese adult cousin to kill themselves for you.
Trump aides’ refusal to testify adds to potential impeachment evidence
That’s like being arrested for resisting arrest.
It’s more like if someone takes the fifth it makes them look more guilty whether or not they are guilty. Not really evidence but counts against a defendant.
Dammit!

Is contempt of Congress still punished by prison without a real trial, as HUAC ones were?
SLD: contempt of Congress, except by government employees, should be the standard for all Americans. The lowliest private citizen should be able to stand up to the thugs with their kangaroo show hearings and tell them to pound sand without repercussion.
My dream speech to Congress ends with: “Someday my Contempt OF Congress might come to an end, but I assure you, my contempt FOR Congress shall never shrink.”

Time to ban clothes. I guess the libertarian nudists will be happy.
Bad satire but too many people of Walmart types to ban clothing. Also winter.
Winter aside, imagine how fit we would be as a country if clothes were banned just once a week. Within 2 years, we’d look like Olympus. Or a bunch of fat fucks that couldn’t care.
The author appears to be a fashionista.
Only the peons will be affected…
The industrial revolution turned rare and expensive personal possessions like clothes into dirt-cheap commodities.
Give that twat a couple of bundles of flax and tell her to dress herself.

Entire cliff in Iceland collapses.
Unfortunately, there’s no video of the collapse.
Eye witness: “So were dumping the bodies and suddenly we see this cliff just, like, fall man. It was so crazy we forgot about the bodies. Long story short, yadda, yadda, yabba doo we’re due in court next week.”
More proof of global warming. Cliffs never use to collapse.
Global warming, right?
It’s so hot, the soil is melting.
Or rather, it’s so hot that it’s causing waves to crash against a cliff, slowly eroding over time. Totally unprecedented.
If it were colder, there’d be a glacier eroding that cliff from the top! No more bottom-up erosion, undermining the order of things.
Charged with Obstructing Justice for exercising right to not self incriminate.
My mother told me never to speak to Congressmen.
Maybe I’m just an asshole but I’m curious, does this story set off anyone else’s bullshit sensors?
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/man-wanted-for-abduction-of-8-year-old-girl-in-north-york/ar-AAJN5VL
Yes.
First of all, abduction by a stranger is extraordinarily rare.
Second, an 8 year old gets free?
Third, there’s no evidence.
But they absolutely do have to investigate. Just in case.
OK, so I’m not just being an asshole.
4th, right in front of a school at 3:30 seems like it would be a setting rife with witnesses, how did an 8 year old struggle and break free from a man carrying her away without attracting any attention?
5th, I’m not sure if it was in that article but the attacker was supposedly wearing a t-shirt on a 40 degree day (I speak Fahrenheit 😉 ) with winds around 50-60 mph
6th, how did a security camera get a shot of the man’s car without getting any footage of the man kidnapping her?
All good points.
We’re both going to be total assholes when they bring this guy in and it turns out he’s the next star of Subaru Horror Theater 😉
Is it wrong that I turned off the Amber Alert on my phone?
I’m a bad person aren’t I?
I turned that damned thing off after the first obnoxious alert I received, which was for some abduction hundreds of miles from me and which was probably done by a family member.
I turned mine off too. Similar reasons to JRD above.
Look, a child was just abducted. Which means, I’m sure that someone didn’t agree that children are now a ward of the state, which is totes wrong think.
“Police suggest entire population in the Elm Terrace area do as follows: Everyone in every house in every street open a front or rear door or look from the windows. The fugitive cannot escape if everyone in the next minute looks from his house. Ready!”
6th, how did a security camera get a shot of the man’s car without getting any footage of the man kidnapping her?
He had his personal-assistant robot abduct her into his self-driving car. *Black Mirror Credits Roll*
I dunno but I see the MSN website is still a dumpster fire.
But yeah, the story is pretty sketchy. I’m guessing the girl is the only source of information?
It definitely sounds that way from what’s been reported. I do get that you can’t just immediately call an 8 year old a liar though, even though we all know that almost all 8 year old kids are in fact liars (to some degree).
My 8 year old once lied to me w/o hesitation for about 15 minutes about brushing her teeth when I was basically camped out in front of her bathroom/toothbrush.
If she did have an abduction story, I would have to follow up though, of course. Gotta be sure.
Right, her parents (who I oddly haven’t even seen mentioned in any of these reports) did the right thing bringing her down to the station. I guess I feel like someone there should have been able to get her to slip up and get to the truth but maybe I’m giving them too much credit. At least they didn’t shoot her.
The sweatpants with dress shoes?
Haha I thought that was odd too. I mentioned above that it was also 40 degrees and windy as fuck on Friday and he was apparently wearing a t-shirt.
It’s funny also because an 8 year old girl’s description of some adult is probably not going to be that accurate.
Right, I thought of that too. In general witnesses are not great with specific details but this 8 year old who’s just been through an incredibly traumatic experience seems to remember an awful lot.
Let me play devil’s advocate for a moment here and point out that the locals going all #resist in literally the most crime-ridden part of town doesn’t exactly bode well.
This is going to get ugly if it keeps up.
Also, I hate everyone involved.
the locals going all #resist in literally the most crime-ridden part of town doesn’t exactly bode well.
Really, this is just the other side of the “thin blue line” coin. One of the major problems with policing is that the police don’t view themselves as part of the community they’re policing. They view themselves as an occupying military and the general population as either “civilians” or “the enemy”. And these assholes are just playing right into that narrative.
^THIS.
I hear you. OTOH, they do community “outreach” stuff all the time. Some of them even walk a beat. The “occupying army” angle is overplayed IMHO. We only hear about bad stuff in the news – nobody’s going to write a story about anything positive. E.g. I recently walked past some small outdoor “party” at a school playground with music blaring, bball playing, etc. in one of those neighborhoods that frequently makes the news. The cops were hanging around chit-chatting with the locals and everything was copacetic.
Not to discount obvious problems, but there are two sides to any story. They were there investigating some domestic dispute. There was no call for the local punks to do that.
I think what I said may have come off wrong.
Yeah, I do get that some cops, even in NYC, really are trying to do the right thing and understand that treating the people they’re supposed to serve like human being is actually good for policing. Shit like this makes their job just that much harder. Just like the “occupying army” police make it just that much harder for people who live in crappy neighborhoods to get adequate police protection.
Call me when the good cops decide it’s time to put away the bearcats, the no-knock dynamic entries on nonviolent offenders, the MRAPs and the flags with the blue lines.
but there are two sides to any story
There’s only one side to any story, and that’s whatever CNN reports. Only Russian assets believe in two sides.
Can someone tell me why Buttigieg, the nondescript mayor of a smallish, crappy city is an at least somewhat viable presidential candidate?
I think he’s been moderating his crazy and picking up the “anyone but X” opinion.
UCS is correct: He’s the least crazy.
He’s Gay?
And white, don’t forget his privilege advantage. Unfortunately for him, he forgot to change his awful name. Good thing for Trump he thought of that beforehand.
He’s a ‘moderate’ Democrat, which means he’s somewhere politically between Mao and Stalin. Outside of that, he reminds people of the annoying hall monitor kid they used to give wedgies too in 3rd grade. Only thing else I can think of is that his name makes him unelectable as president. He may as well be named Lickenpooper or McMuffin.
Gay so protected and doesn’t have to go extreme SJW so seems reasonable? And executive style hair?
He appears to be less extreme than the rest. The “moderate” democrats who fear that Warren or Sanders are too left-wing to defeat Trump doesn’t have much choice in the primary. Biden is senile. Klobuchar seems unlikable. So, Buttigieg is the last hope of the “moderates.”
Not to be redundant, but I’m just being honest. His name rules him out as president. He should have changed it at least a few years before thinking about running. How the fuck do you even pronounce that? Butt Plug, or Butt Pig? Because that’s what people will think.
Well stupid people will think that, but they’ll be voting for Trump anyways so It’s not really that big a disadvantage for him.
So, everyone who would vote for Trump over any of the democrats, is stupid? Got it.
HOT HYP ON HYP ACTION!
LOL
No, people who can’t get past a gay guys funny name are stupid and will vote for Trump, Plenty of very smart people did and will vote for Trump, they however don’t call Buttigieg, ‘Butt-something’ and think it’s the height of comedy.
Yes, they will, it’s the way people are. Not that I agree with it being a reason to not vote for him, there are a lot of other reasons, but it’s still true.
It’s Booty-gag. And it’s not comedy, it’s sarcastic derision.
Meh, calling Obama ‘Barry’ or Trump ‘Donny’ is sarcastic derision the ‘Buttpig” bit is up there with “Block Yo Mama” in the I have the maturity if a forth grader category.
What about Bushy McChimpenhitler?
I have to side with Hyperbole here. I have done the mocking name thing, but it isn’t really humorous, and it kind of does make a person look like an idiot after a while when they constantly spout insults based on something as silly as a name.
I have the maturity if (sic) a forth grader category.
Says the guy with an avatar of two giraffes fucking in front of a hyena. Jesus, My bad, snark away.
Just couldn’t stand to have me agree with you could you?
Not at all, I was, in fact, relishing being vindicated when I realized how kettle black I was being, and now I just realized I can’t even spell fourth correctly, I wonder what I fucked up this time.
Your avatar is a piece of Presidential art! It is super classy! Bigly classy!
Booty Judge.
That’s actually pretty close to how it’s actually pronounced.
He can string together a coherent sentence better than most of the others?
1) Gay, and the very middle class boring sort, for which he is hated by the far left
2) Deployed Veteran
3) Mayors are executives, just like presidents. Sorta.
3) Mayors are executives, just like presidents. Sorta.
Michael Bloomberg agrees.
But I imagine there are plenty of boring middle class gay men who are veterans. He does have the Rhodes Scholar sheen, but to me that only explains why the media fawns over him, not why any voters do. His track record as mayor isn’t exactly a ringing success or anything.
Deployed where for how long doing what?
He’s pretty dull, though, when you get right down to it. I doubt his health care plan even eclipses $40 trillion.
Just not a visionary.
If an uptick in polling doesn’t cause stock market tremors, he’s not competitive.
Uffda. Minnesoda DNR issues ticket to kids just having fun.
They never issue tickets to the asshole jet skiers who use my boat when I’m fishing as a pylon to zoom around time after time. What gives with that?
In the mid ’80s, the most impressive jet skiing demonstration I ever saw was by a couple of drunk Canadians. They were on the old standup type jet skis. They would barrel down the beach (in full view of everyone in the hotel bar) and when they got to the hotel’s dock would bounce so that they were able to jump over the dock. There was a lot of water that year, so the dock wasn’t that far out of the water, but it was still pretty impressive that they jumped the doc a dozen times each and never completely wiped out. No one even thought to call the cops.
Cops are fucking lazy. If you’re a skinny stoned 14 year old on a park bench smoking some weed, you look like an easy target for our heroes. If you’re down in the hood shooting up the joint, good luck for anyone hoping the cops will show up, because they won’t.
Going after gang members in bad neighborhoods is actually dangerous. Remember, getting home safe is the first priority.
Yep, this.
Sometimes I watch Live PD. I love watching them chase suspects on foot.
They’re gassed by the end of it. ‘And………….we’ve appre….hended…………….deep breath……the sus……pect……”
Patton Oswalt on COPS.
Back when he was much funnier.
that was supposed to start at 3 min mark
Well, super predators you know, just ask Hillary.
Those old jet skis were a helluva lot harder to control than the Sea Doo type that became the standard. I remember some spectacular wipeouts I had on a friend’s on the Rappahannock.
“Yeah, honestly, I’ll probably be talking to the county attorney about a careless operation charge for Jake for jumping the road,”
How else are they supposed to get across the road?
They never issue tickets to the asshole jet skiers who use my boat when I’m fishing as a pylon to zoom around time after time.
Solution: go fishing with dynamite and kill two birds with one stone.
Last summer a fishing buddy and I thought that .410 with 8 shot and a light load would be the most sporting solution.
Back about 30 years ago, my buddy and I had a pair of the Kawasaki 650s stand ups. One of the things we’d do with those it take them down to the ocean and jump waves, hitting the wave just before they crest (kind of reverse surfing). We’d get a whole lot of air doing that and was a blast – until the harbor patrol came and got us. They were pretty cool though, their main beef was that we too close (100m) to other surfers and the like. They said technically, what we were doing was prohibitive because once you are airborne, you have no control of the vessel. Didn’t make sense to me, but like I said they weren’t dicks about it, they just said go do it about 1/2 mile down the shoreline near a powerstation and no one would bother you.
^this^
When I was a kid, we would go out into the country and shoot things in gravel pits. Every once in a while some cop would come out and tell us that a homeowner had complained and we should just move it down the road to the next gravel pit.
And the cops never even thought about touching their pistols even though we were a bunch of knuckleheads who were busy shooting away at various cans or other things.
OK. Watched the video.
DNR wasn’t there when it happened. They can’t do shit unless they admitted to it on the spot.
Re NYPD. Is this recent phenomena a case of disrespect as a means to an end or is it years of NYPD fucking shit up?
I wonder if Law & Oder SVU will have an episode on this with them as the ‘special victims’.
To someone else’s point (and the article’s) yeah, the people most likely to deride the cops are also the ones most likely to have to call the cops. Unless they’re full on outside the law. Its more like “people who don’t take care of their own stuff throw trash on the NYPD’s stuff”, but I was having fun with it. It’s more of the same. Like watching two asshole families argue with each other.
The NYPD is no better or worse than before.
This is a result of a pretty deliberate campaign of “disrespect” from the mayor on down.
Yes, they often deserve disrespect – but the mayor and other pols stirring shit up isn’t constructive. Frankly, he doesn’t give a shit and it shows with the creeping policies of looking the other way on “petty” stuff like fare-beating, the push to close Rikers, and so forth being used to burnish his identity politics street cred.
Yes, they often deserve disrespect – but the mayor and other pols stirring shit up isn’t constructive.
I think it’s because politicians like the mayor don’t really care about or even want reform. A mayor who wanted reform would talk the police up every day while demanding the police live up to the hype. The facts on the topic are fairly well known. Police are most effective when they have a “trust relationship” with the rest of the local community.
Deblasio pretty famously doesn’t care much about anything except Marxist blathering.
Colorado student dresses up as Justin Trudeau blackface.
The reaction is what you’d expect.
But with a twist. Dude is a black conservative.
And a hero.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEMgIzwusG4&feature=em-uploademail
Turdeau Jr. is a Literal Privileged White Man wearing blackface but that is okay cuz he is a Liberal. Now if Scheer or Trump on the other hand…
It’s fricken-fricasee nuts. This student gets kicked out by Trudeau who is literally white privilege gets rewarded with a second minority term.
Just nuts.
The world is upside down.
Almost like this “white privilege” bullshit is just an excuse for the Privileged White people to suppress dissent and look down on the lower classes? What better way to make it okay to look down on some hillbilly methead?
Go to any leftwing American site, and the first thing you notice is the blatant bigotry against white Middle America. I contend it’s the most overt and commonplace hate left in the country today.
I think it’s pretty obvious since 2016 what they think of those people.
They weren’t kidding when they called them ‘deplorables’.
I knew that costume would take off!
…now to wait on Slutty Greta.
HOW DARE YOU!
I joked that I was gonna dress as Blackface Trudeau and this guy went and did it!
This is why Justin should have resigned. He’s a joke now. A meme.
Only to a few in Canuckistan…the woke have willfully ignored it. Hypocrites the lot of them.
The silence has been deafening.
Or when they did speak out….get this…..they claim to not be offended! What’s the big deal?
Well, that’s kinda our whole point about hating cancel culture and delving into people’s past. No good can come of it. And plenty have people have been caught in the crossfire ruining their lives in some cases.
These people letting Justin off the hook probably weren’t so kind to others discovered to be in a similar predicament.
Amazing hypocrisy.
Woke progressives are astonishing in their full of shitness.
Didn’t Trudi turn around and blame his blackface on the “racist environment” or some shit?
Yup. Legacy of Canada’s ‘racialized’ history.
Just like when apologized for having groped a journalist it was a ‘teachable moment FOR ALL OF US’.
Go fuck yourself you corrupted creep.
He’s a fucken idiot.
Someone please let kbolino know that this is what I was talking about, today. THIS is the post-rational epoch. It’s stuff like this. ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Now someone please try to argue that Jefferson and Adams would have been saying some of the incredibly fuck-tarded things that we hear today. Or Franklin. Or Lincoln. Or Douglas. It’s not romanticizing the past to note there was a time when reason did tend to prevail. Not always, but at least the people on the other side had sufficient chops to know the logical consequences of what they’re saying. Now it is completely corrupt retards running some of the most “civilized” nations on Earth. Unless there is a renaissance or revolution in or against ‘public service,’ we’re doomed.
He’s a joke now. A meme
…now?
…now to wait on Slutty Greta.
Has OMWC stolen your handle?
She’s the age of consent…in Sweden.
Good music choice Brett.
The investigations will continue.
Napolitano said, “The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, that is right below the Supreme Court, ruled there is no broad immunity for the president for behavior that he engaged in before he was in the White House. This subpoena is for his tax returns and the Trump Organization corporate records from 2015 and 2016. It also ruled that since the subpoena is not to him but to his accountants, it doesn’t require him to do anything that might be disruptive of his job as president. It is consistent with what a trial judge ruled when the president sought to throw out the subpoena. What happens next will probably be an application to a single justice of the Supreme Court to stay, to stop the effect of this decision until the court can decide on whether or not they want to hear the case.”
Napolitano said Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg “is assigned by geography to hear appeals from federal courts coming from this circuit.”
He continued, “This does not address prosecution. This addresses the investigation. No one is immune from the government investigating their behavior. In this case, the behavior being investigated occurred before he was president. That is what caused the court to say there is no immunity. The court expressly did not rule, did not rule on whether or not a sitting president can be prosecuted by a state court. The answer to that is he probably cannot, but that’s a guess from me.”
This addresses the investigation.
Shouldn’t there be probable cause before an investigation? I know I know. OrangeManBad.
He’s probably been “under investigation” for decades. Don’t worry, they’ll find something this time.
I don’t know if Napolitano’s correct or not in this case but I don’t trust him when he’s talking about Trump related issues. I don’t know if Trump banged his wife or what but it’s like he’s lost his mind when it comes to him.
No shit! He’s got TDS bad enough to be an anchor on CNN.
He used to be pretty good and then one day he comes down with incurable TDS.
It also ruled that since the subpoena is not to him but to his accountants
Stop right there. The bullshit “business records” exemption to 4A needs to have a stake driven right through it and the robed idiots perpetrating it should climb into a woodchipper.
Hey, you can’t complain. We’re just searching your house not you. The House didn’t complain about it, so stay out of it.
It should be noted that Gus said “climb into a woodchipper.” Should any of their robeships decide to do this of their own volition, as an act of shame, ’tain’t our fault none.
They prosecute inducement to suicide now. I think this is worse. The threat is obviously hyperbole and thus can safely be ignored, which makes it pretty much impossible to prosecute as terroristic. This was an attempt to induce a suicide!
Stop the crazy talk. Next you will be telling us that the 4th doesn’t protect any records that someone like a cell phone carrier might have about you. Clearly, you consented to the govt tracking you the second you bought that phone.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg “is assigned by geography to hear appeals from federal courts coming from this circuit.”
Somewhat true. Each of the circuits has a “circuit justice,” a SCOTUS member assigned to be the ceremonial overseer of the circuit. In practical terms this means that the justice will visit the court of appeals (highest federal court) of that circuit every couple of years and sit with the court on one or more cases as a token gesture. For what it’s worth, federal district court judges also each sit with their court of appeals once every couple of years. These are basically schmoozefests. Although it is priceless to see the face of counsel, who does not learn the identity of the three-judge appellate panel hearing their case until the morning of oral argument. They literally “ulp” if they draw a panel with a SCOTUS justice. Also much lulz if they draw a district court judge and that messes with their strategy of how to argue before the various possible panels of circuit judges.
“No one is immune from the government investigating their behavior. ”
I didn’t know I was transported to soviet Russia. Pretty sure the government needs to have a reason, not just fish around.
Uffda. The best story I have read so far about the details of Minnesoda’s overpayment of $29M in health fees to two Indian tribes.
My conclusion? We’re fucked. If this story can’t generate a mob to go burn down state buildings, then there is nothing that the bureaucrats can do that will ever get them hung from lamposts.
Basically, someone years ago said “sure go ahead and bill us $455 everytime a recovering addict takes a pill at home. Just mark it down as an ‘encounter expense'”.
Now the shit has hit the proverbial fan and the tribes have pretty much given the state the middle finger.
Surprisingly the audit found no paper trail that could explain who told the tribes that they should bill the state for that or who at the state green lighted the payments. No old employees were able to shed any light either.
I’m not going to sugar coat this, it is as blatant a case of graft as you will ever see and it is going to be quietly shoveled under the rug.
What’s $29 million between friends, though?
It could be that someone just coded the pill as a $455 expense not thinking things out. Then someone figured this out and took advantage of this and told friends.
It would be interesting if they decided to go full Trump on the tax returns for people working at the Minnesoda DHS and the tribes to see who suddenly started reporting a lot more cash around the time these payments started up.
Of course, I’m sure the progressives at MPR would get the vapors at the thought of government agents going on a fishing expedition through the tax returns of bureaucrats and/or Indians.
That these racist pseudo governments are still taken seriously rather than the status of social clubs is a continuing shame. Iron Eyes Cody would shed a single tear for it.
Graft? On the Rez? Never heard of such a thinh.
Maybe a dumb question but doesn’t the NYS Dept. of Taxes already have all of the returns that Trump filed for whatever years are in question? Have they billed him for errors or accepted the returns? What the fuck criminal actions are NY looking for that might not have already been examined in his returns filed with the State? For tax returns are complicated as Trump’s appear to be, most states require a copy of the Federal return be filed with the State return. Does NYS ask this? I suppose the real reason for demanding the returns is so that unnamed and unknown persons can leak them to the media which will then expose them publically to embarass Trump about overstating his wealth or failing to report his W-2 from Putin’s spymasters.
Yeah, that’s my guess too. Just more theater.
Especially since he’s been the public eye for decades now. You would think someone would have brought this up before or that he was a Literal Hitler KKK Orange monster.
Is it wrong that I saw the commercial for the refrigerator that generates shaped designer ice and now I kinda want one?

If spherical ice is wrong, I don’t even wanna be right.
Spherical ice is less efficient at cooling your drink than ice with more surface area.
My father was killed by 6-faced ice that was exactly as deep as it was wide and tall.
Curiosity lead me to this
https://blog.doingsciencetostuff.com/2013/06/15/on-the-shape-of-ice-spheres-vs-cubes/
I’ve honestly seen that though as a selling point for spherical ice. Because it melts less and your drink gets diluted less.
But with soda, I actually like it diluted.
Of course this study is invalid because it doesn’t even look at penis-shaped ice.
I figured it was gonna be doughnut shaped ice and some nasty freezer burns that done ya in.
That too. After I finish hosting all these bachelorette parties.
I actually put my soda in the freezer until it has just a nice little layer of slush in it.

First.World.Problems, bro. There’s no longer enough struggle. We have to have struggle, because it’s always been that way. If we don’t have it, we have to create it. The reptilian brain is still alive. And we’ve removed all the natural selection to kill off the luddites and retards. So, here we are.
And we’ve removed all the natural selection to kill off the luddites and retards.
I’m not sure we’ve removed it all…
We’re trying really hard. At one of the Walmarts we go to, they’ve locked up Tide Pods in a cabinet and you have to ask one of their low IQ employees to unlock them for you. NO, just fuck no, we’re not going to that one again.
Did this employee have detergent stains around his mouth?
Probably.

Came out of work to a dead battery. Fixed now. Could have been worse.
Went to a movie in college, come out and my friend’s car won’t start. He’s PISSED. He’d just replaced the battery a few weeks earlier. Pops the hood of the car. Someone had stolen his battery while we were in the theater.
I had that happen to me at work once. Out of a busy restaurant parking lot.
It’s the reason to carry tools in your car. Most of the time that’s happened to me, it’s just that the terminal connections or loose or all corroded.
So when your terminals corrode you steal the guy next to you’s battery? Not cool.
I had a Dodge in college. You had to remove the wheel and well cover to replace the battery. More trouble than it was worth.
Sawzall or angle grinder. You’ll get the battery out quickly. with the right cuts.
There is a cozy place in hell ready for the engineer who thought that up and anyone who signed off on it. My buddy had a Chrysler 300 with that feature.
I refused to pull the fucking wheel, though. Crank it far enough and you can get the battery out.
Yeah, that works but you’re about guaranteed a double hernia getting the battery out and the replacement in. If that engineers in hell, his punishment oughta be changing batteries in and out for eternity.
I spent ten days in the field as a lieutenant and got up to a dead battery the next morning.
We’d been read the riot act the night before to not be late to formation.
So I pull the battery from my room-mate’s car and go racing off.
I end up being late because the cop got me at 86 in a 55 (and accelerating). Ended up being so late that I missed out on the ass-chewing that everyone else got.
Turned out that the reason my battery was dead was that my room-mate had swapped it out while I was gone.
That’s some funny shit.
When I was seventeen I picked up my dipshit friends from a party. They of course smelled heavily of pot, so when I was pulled over driving them home I had the car tossed by the officer. (I was too young and too dumb to say no.) He didn’t find anything on account of my not being a pothead, but the battery ran down and died while he looked. The fucker drove off and left us stranded there on the highway at night in the winter.
I stole a car battery once. Once.
Never stick it in crazy.

They’re similar in that they are both wildly unpopular.

I wish this meant that cities are going to start taking these fuckers seriously, but I doubt it. If they treated Antifa the way they treat the KKK they’d be able to get ahead of these situations before they turn violent.

It is like they don’t think that Trump’s FBI could re-open the email server investigation again. It wouldn’t even be a stretch to prosecute her either. She broke the fucking law and it doesn’t matter why she did.
Ah but if they do it will be politically motivated and therefore impeachable. Or something.
This is a Yusef question primarily, but if anybody else knows, please, jump in. I’m getting estimates on installing a three-zone ductless split. 36000 BTU. The first guy quoted me just under $10k parts and installation. This seems excessive as hell to me, but that’s irrelevant because I can’t afford it anyway. What’s a reasonable range? What’s so cheap I ought to be suspicious?
Where are you? the unit looks like it’s 3k figure another 500-1000$ in shit not included, with a tricky install that could get to 10K in a big city/upscale suburb. Bumfuckistan probably not so much.
I’m in Annapolis, so city but not like big city. Like middle class older neighborhood. 1000 sqft cape cod on a small lot. The owner of the company did the estimate and seemed to think the install should be easy. He quoted me for a Fujitsu system, though, and I understand those are pretty expensive. I’d have thought that the peeling paint and old window units would’ve been a tell that I’m in the “value priced” segment, but they might be a one brand shop.
What’s a three-zone ductless split?
Anyway, from what I’ve seen recently, the price for installing the exact equipment can vary widely.
It’s a ductless system with tubes and wiring going from the compressor to each unit, usually along the outside wall and then through a small hole. Each zone has a unit that is an individually controlled blower. They’re popular around here because a lot of houses are old and either don’t have ducts, like mine, or just don’t have good circulation to certain rooms. People will use them for whole houses if they’re small enough, or for individual rooms.
OK, thanks. I would definitely shop around regardless.
I would not think that is out of line. But obviously shop around.
I’ve got a few other guys coming out to do estimates.
Nap if you’re still around, we put in a single head mini split in our basement. Total cost was about $6k. A dual head was a little more so I would wager your estimate is in the ballpark.
Yowza. What brand is yours? I’ve been looking at prices online just for the mini split itself and it seems like there’s a pretty wide range, at the top of which is the one this particular estimator did his proposal for.
We got a Mitsubishi. I want to say 18k btu with the hyper heat? feature. The unit was about 2/3 of the total price with the installation the other third.

LOL at that first response: “We need to be more equal. Lets aim for 50% next year.”
Back in 2014 the voters of Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) approved an $800 million school bond issue. Every public school was displaying this huge banner about how many millions they were going to get and everything that was going to be built and/or repaired as a result of the taxpayer windfall.
5 years later, 97% of the work remains undone, and everything, surprisingly, has cost more than they said it would
“Broward County”
LOL, the most corrupt county in the USA, home for the real Florida man.
3% of the work done? Somehow I suspect much more than 3% of the money has been spent.
Costs are up to $1.3B, and the district isn’t maintaining facilities so whatever they build is essentially disposable.

“Alex Jones Invades Hillary Rally In Tank”
https://banned.video/watch?id=5dbfa5d33ca1580019e1b5a2
“Alex Jones crashed a pro-Hillary Clinton rally in Austin, Texas in an armored tank while chanting “Epstein didn’t kill himself!”
Clinton took the stage at Riverbend Church to promote “The Book of Gusty Women” with her daughter Chelsea.
However, before the event, radio host Alex Jones rolled through the area in an armored tank and bombarded Clinton supporters with his firebrand rhetoric.
“Hillary Clinton’s political career is dead. President Trump is president, America is coming back from the dead,” said Jones through a bullhorn.
Jones also questioned the official explanation behind the death of Jeffrey Epstein as “suicide” by yelling, “Epstein didn’t kill himself!””

Gutsy women who persist.
Lol. Yeah. Whatever.
I get women who wait in line to go listen to her blathering bull shit but men?
Sorry, not meaning to offend anyone, but I still think it’s laughable that anyone thought Harris was a viable candidate. Her personality alone disqualifies her from being dog catcher anywhere outside of CA, what an abrasive cunt.
I thought she was a viable candidate partly because of her abrasive personality.
She turned out to be a far worse campaigner than I expected.
yeah, you could really tell she’s never had to face hostile media at all, in California. It’s all just been happy handshakes and compliant media. But toss her into a campaign and she had no idea what to do.
Too many candidates and too few decent handlers, too, I suspect. Talent’s pretty thin with fifteen million candidates.
She’s not even popular in California.
She checked all the right boxes on the Diversity Bingo card.
Except for the ‘Not hateful unlikable cunt box’.
Herself didn’t check that box either.
Herself lost too.

I don’t get it.
It’s funny because people are too sensitive today and get triggered by anything, you prove this by intentionally being offensive and then call anyone who doesn’t find it funny a snowflake, it’s a knee-slapper right up there with mispronouncing people names.
So its like Lenny Bruce and George Carlin then?
Sigh. The internet is forever, people.
Dammit, why is this book so much harder to write than the previous one? Maybe if I can get him out of the capital I can pick up speed. Because then it won’t just be trying to figure out how to cover “and we waited” again.

I would love to see the administration’s spokeshole tell every reporter who asks that the treaty, by it’s own terms, won’t accomplish its stated goal.
Also, how the hell were we bound by the 3 year no withdrawal provision when the senate didn’t ratify this treaty?
The US and Europe could follow Paris to the letter and all the healing of Gaia over the long term would be dwarfed by the increase in emissions permitted to China every year.
The whole thing is complete bullshit.
“White House Expected to Ban Vape Flavors Except Tobacco and Menthol
Under the plan, mint—which represents about 70% of Juul’s U.S. sales—would be taken off the market
The Trump administration is expected to announce next week a decision to take off the market all e-cigarettes except those that taste like tobacco and menthol, according to a White House official, revising its previous plan after pushback from conservative groups who argued it could hurt the president’s standing with voters next year.
Aimed at curbing a rise in teenage vaping, the plan has been changed to allow a carve-out for menthol vaping products, according to the official. But it would still be a crippling hit to a market estimated to reach $9 billion in sales this year.
E-cigarette market leader Juul Labs Inc. sells nicotine-liquid refill pods that come in separate mint and menthol flavors as well as tobacco. Under the current plan, mint—Juul’s most popular flavor, representing about 70% of its U.S. sales—would be taken off the market. Blamed for a surge in teen vaping, the startup plans to lay off between 400 and 600 staff by the end of the year as part of a broader reorganization aimed at repairing its damaged relationship with regulators.
Juul didn’t lobby against the ban and “will support and comply with the final policy,” a spokesman said.
Citing the administration’s planned ban on e-cigarette flavors, tobacco giant Altria Group Inc. Thursday wrote down its investment in Juul by $4.5 billion. The Marlboro maker paid $12.8 billion last year for a 35% stake in the startup.
Axios reported on the expected announcement earlier Friday.
Under the proposed policy, e-cigarette makers could apply to the Food and Drug Administration for permission to bring flavored products back on the market. But they would have to demonstrate that the products provide a net benefit to public health….”

The fact that the executive branch somehow has the power to unilaterally ban anything in this country, much less something as silly as vape flavors under the guise of public health, is fucking infuriating.
We need for POTUS to have that power to save us from obstructionists and racists.
They want to enslave you and tear down western civilization, commie scum the lot of them.
I get that you’re just living up to your handle, but what does that have to do with my discomfort with the unconstitutional consolidation of power in the executive branch, regardless the party?
Nothing at all, and I shouldn’t have used your legitimate rant as a launching point for a cheap shot at the “everyone to the left of Reagan is Pol Pot’ contingency on this site, my apologies.
Now do alcohol…or candy…or coffee…or caugh drops….or actually flavored cigarettes…
Oh well. Im with you on this one.
It’s like he doesn’t want to win. He’ll be personally screwing a large number of his base bigtime if he goes through with this stupid move.
I don’t know. The Democrats sound like they want to control and ban everything.
He won’t get any Dem votes and plenty of Rep vapers will be disillusioned. All in all an unnecessary net loss.
First they came for the vapers of kid-enticing flavors, and I said nothing because I was not a vaper of kid-enticing flavors….
Does Trump think he is going to win the African-American vote with that carve out?
Am I nuts or is this just going to encourage more black-market juice? You know, the stuff that’s killing people?
You know it will.
Finally got my cell signal back on vacation – only 3 days without it.
Anyhoo – if I hadn’t been out of town, I definitely would have been at this event – https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dXdWbHvMFVk&feature=youtu.be
One of the jumpers (Bobby) is a buddy from work and the Gourmeltz joint is a place owned by another coworker- the guy with the red ball cap at the end. I’ve posted about it a few times – couldn’t believe they got permission to jump into a tiny parking lot right off US 1 and I95 ;p
Did you get a promotion?
Sep – haven’t had much posting time since.
My brain hurts.
That banning vaping shit is despicable and frightening.
Yes it is. Which is also why the government did it.
God bless the black market.
Baptists and bootleggers FTW.
Not as scary as that avatar, you’re scaring me…
For real? I didn’t think it was that awful.
Only two things in the world I’m scared of. Women and the police.
I would have gone with spiders and curry farts.
Spiders can get curry farts?
As in.
A pretty young woman, with a rack, in a corset scares you? Show us on the doll where the bad lady touched you Hyp.
It’s actually the washed out photograph that he has issues with. The person in the picture could be clearer.
