Thank goodness I’m a touch-typist after that H&H Extended Universe entry. My eyes refuse to function after that horror. I told SF privately that entry was worth just about anything Trump does in the next 400 days or so, given that the Hat & Hair main story line is so much less… blech. Trying to explain to the wife why I was giggling, weeping, and vomiting at the same time was… interesting.
Wife: I want to read that
Me: Nope. You’ll blame me for it even after you say you won’t. Its not worth it
Wife: I won’t…
Me: See, its just like I said!
Wife: Whatever, I’m not cleaning up that mess

Please, please let Trump’s ego be the thing that crashes NATO.
NY Glibs, I have a mission for you. Go forth to Monroe County, interact with the local cops, and just be yourselves.
That requires going to Rochester. Fuck that.
I might go back there, but I’ve never interacted with a cop in the area.
Been there, done that. For nineteen years.
Love the “racial equity lens” nonsense. Unfortunately that angle seems to be the only way anymore that obviously unconstitutional bullshit like this has a chance of being overturned.
Black-faced and White-faced? That is funny.
Hi Brett!
Thanks for the lynx!
If NATO dissolved, would anyone notice?
A lot of swamp people?
It’s not like they wouldn’t find other uses for their toys.
Its not about the toys, it is about the money. The toys are just for show. They are there to justify the money.
Turkey?
Will they though?
Erdogen may be a piece of shit (that is not in dispute, although it is amazing how long it took Western leaders to come to that conclusion), but he saw what happened with that failed coup against him a few years ago. He knows who was tipped off by the military first. And he’s responded accordingly by making alternative alliances.
Piece of shit does not always equate with stupid
I thought it was a fake coup, not a failed coup.
I’m more wondering how much they can get away with knowing they are in NATO.
Italy, Germany, and the UK will notice if we decided to start scaling down our bases in response to the dissolution of NATO. That’s a lot of gravy they’ll miss

Yes, any city in Europe with an Air Base. Without American service members infesting their town, renting their properties for maximum BAH, drinking their beer, and generally patronizing their red light districts, what would they have to bitch about?

How dare Christmas movies be predominantly about Christians!
We’ve gone form inventing new holidays to compete with Christmas to demanding Christmas be about anything but Christianity.

/employed fat bastard.
I think employed and family would be enough for most womxn. Hormones are a powerful conspiracy that far too many people fall for.
The hormones are just a part of the macroscopic manifestation of DNA’s self-replicating nature.
(well, the hormones aren’t macroscopic, their effect on behavior is more what I was referring to there)
I was going to say “biology”, but I double clutched.
Double clutched, that’s when you lay twice as many eggs as expected?

While avoiding the commentary on the artistic merit of Hallmark movies, it seems to me that It’s A Wonderful Life would only be acceptable now if George Bailey transitioned and accused Potter of being a Russian stooge.
I’d watch that.
I may not be handsome but Mrs. Salsa has the rest of it locked down.
This is also Salon’s Editor-in-Chief, not some undergrad they are paying in ramen and jello shots.
Looks like she tried to give the Hallmark Christmas movies your Subaru Horror Theater treatment, you should sue.
From what I can tell it is probably both.
Yesterday I read somewhere (don’t remember where, or I’d link it) that Hallmark Channel and Lifetime way out-perform most other cable channels consistently.
Boo hoo, Salon. There’s a market for it!
I’m guessing Hallmark is too smart to kill that cash cow by going hard woke.
We can only hope.
Hallmark is a very conservative company and does a gazillion dollars’ worth of market research and focus groups. They have their finger very firmly on who buys their stuff.
Wokeness isn’t about any of those things. In fact it rejects the long time accepted notions about giving customers a product that they pay for.
The only way to stop it is not hire wokes and fire them when they surface.
Shooting anyone who uses the prefix cis helps.
What if it’s a reference to cisalpine gaul?
Are they speaking Latin?
I’m sure some dopey hipster PR firm can wander into the Hallmark conference room and light the whole thing on fire in a matter of minutes.
Just exactly where do they have that finger?
On the squishy lovey-dovey part of a woman that loves Christmas department store displays and wants to believe in Santa.
Ahh the elusive Kinkade spot.
You keep your Kinkade hate away from my eyeballs.
Seriously, I named a chapter of a book “Hallmark and Kinkade.” Lovingly, too, I might add.
Of course there is. Really, whatever you want to say about it, the Hallmark schtick provides a pretty legitimate fantasy. Having a loving family and a decent community is probably a lot preferable to sitting alone binging on Ben and Jerry’s with your cats.
Hey!
I wouldn’t take much offense. It’s preferable to most people’s life. It’s fantasy. That’s why people turn in to watch it.
That’s right, tell him that so he doesn’t get jealous of all of our perfect lives in our perfect houses, with our perfect families.
And you may ask yourself. Well how did I get here?
Rohypnol, a stun gun and Stockholm syndrome… Did I say that out loud?
We haven’t gotten to the stockholm syndrome phase yet.
That’s step 3.
Stockholm syndrome is a tried and true romance trope.
Of course it’s “problematic.”
We like it anyway.
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!
a specific American suburban fantasy that seamlessly blends the following ingredients: a nonthreatening career that never demands evening and weekend work or relocation; a heterosexual marriage to a handsome employed man who values family … home located within walking distance of one or both sets of parents, surrogate or real.
I would assume that the first and third are features of many of their European model nations. So, I guess handsome, employed man must be the American specific part.
That article reeks of envy.
Some people have to justify binge-watching the TV equivalent of bon-bons. “I was watching it for research!” Yeah, I tried that on my parents at 14, it didn’t work then, either.
That was my impression, as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if the author confides to her therapist that she wishes she could be the woman in those Hallmark movies.
Sounds like the basis for a SugarFree Christmas special.
DO NOT ENCOURAGE HIM TO FUCK_UP CHRISTMAS!!!!!!1!1!11!!!!!!!!!
I don’t believe she would ever confide it in anybody. She probably doesn’t know it herself. I can be in a bad mood for years, not knowing WHY I’m mad until something breaks it open for me and I can see. THEN I can deal with it. Or, and this happened to me recently, I was unwilling to admit something and it kicked my ass until I was ready to say it out loud.
It’s the not knowing (or not wanting to admit) that gets you.
Fair enough. I just can’t imagine being so screwed up that wishing you could have a life out of a Hallmark card (or movie) or a Currier and Ives print is your “deep dark secret” that you wouldn’t dare to confide even to yourself.
It has already been demonstrated that the ratio of skin tones in this year’s movies is reflective of the country at large.
Uh, my wife was watching a movie where a young woman of color won the heart of some pale white prince of some fictitious country. ** cough, cough, meghan markle, cough **
So woke is happening on some channels.
Not woke at all. That is a very common subgenre of romance (BW/WM) and extremely profitable. Yes, Hallmark is going to tap that market.
Isn’t it also the least common real life relationship?
It is just as uncommon to find yourself in a situation where you can fight overwhelming odds, emerge victorious and end up with the hot chick, let the chicks have their fantasy schema and we can keep ours
That’s not the point of my question.
I do not know, but it sells like hotcakes (but then again, so does thug love, so what do I know?).
There were many a black man in my Twitter stream who were so over black women sighing happily that a black woman married a white man—a prince, no less! It was ugly.
I saved a tweet that summed up the whole thing, but I van’t find it at the moment.
my personal experience bears this out. The amount of right swipes from that demo I get as a clean cut, professional looking white dude is way higher than you’d expect. I had found it odd until I’d read you post this sentiment previously
I’ve said this before, but …
“A well-tailored suit is to a woman what lingerie is to a man.”

Strategically rumpled.
Well-educated black women want a dude who’s put together, has his life straight, and is no-nonsense. Same as every white woman who’s honest with herself. Black women are brutally honest about it. Some of them don’t care if the men are black or white. Some are turning to white men as a last resort because they can’t seem to find black men who fit the bill.
What’s really out of skew in entertainment, especially network television, isn’t racial demographics, it’s profession demographics. If one didn’t know better, they’d be under the impression everybody in the U.S. is a lawyer, doctor, civil servant, member of an elite unit of fighting deepstate eggheads, or a schlub working class dude inexplicably married to a woman so far out of his league they aren’t even playing the same sport. It’s the same regurgitated shit year in and year out.

Honestly, perusing the first few paragraphs of that nonsense, I walked away with the distinct impression that Erin Keane simply has trouble coming to terms with the fact that she fantasizes about being one of the women in those movies taken away from her urbane desperation by the small-town Hallmark man.
Yes. That’s why I said it reeked of envy.
I made the comment before reading yours. Sorry.
Then she might succumb to the horrors of middle class happiness. Salon-types want to stay as far away from happy as possible.
I suspect her fantasy more likely involves moving to that quaint town and showering it with bullshit until everyone is as miserable as she is.
This isn’t specific to Hallmark and Lifetime movies, either. This is how romance novels are seen/treated. It is also why there are self-styled feminists who like romance novels, think they shouldn’t but can’t help themselves, and end up defending them as if they need to justify their behavior to … someone. Someone whose opinion does not matter. Because they like so ething on the not approved list.
think they shouldn’t but can’t help themselves, and end up defending them as if they need to justify their behavior to … someone.
Again, though, the premise of these movies is pretty much delivering “happily ever after”. Why the hell would anyone be ashamed or embarrassed about wanting that?
Well, I really haven’t figured that out. In Romancelandia, Oprah is infamous for hating on HEAs. Books that end in HEAs aren’t litrachooooor.
And note the implication that middle-class white women must not have access to things that appeal to them.
It’s like the horror at the possibility that “Joker” might have appealed to those wicked incels.

Those are stupid goddamned charts that purport to convey information, but don’t
The first is a forecast of CO2 concentrations, whoopee.
And unless I’m reading it wrong, the second has error bars on both the measurements and the models that far exceed the difference between the medians, making them useless.
“Scientists have gotten predictions of global warming right since the 1970s”
In the 70’s they were predicting an ice age.

If you predict that the icecap will melt one day, and predict a new ice age the next, your predictions are guaranteed to be confirmed. It’s science!
My takeaway was that this:
is a giant head-fake. Who cares about all models? The ones that matter are teh ones being promoted as requiring fundamental restructuring of human society. How accurate have those been? Not only that, but these models are all presumably different. How can they all be different and all be accurate?
What would be really great is a per capita income (inflation adjusted) vs. global mean surface temperature (GSTM) . If we could just get the temps up another couple of degrees per decade even the poor would be well off. IF global climate change has been happening, and the Roman and Mideval warm periods are accurate, climate change with net warming is the greatest driver of human success in history.

Not quite 30 minutes, but here goes OT:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/the-staggering-millennial-wealth-deficit-in-one-chart/ar-BBXGVqt
Young baby boomers owned an enormous share of the country’s wealth relative to the nation’s millennials and Gen Xers, data show.
tough shit
Old people who already have shit accrue wealth? Who knew?
You don’t understand Brett. I haven’t had a chance to accumulate ANYTHING yet!
Kids make you poor. Its SCIENCE!
Or course not. How can you accumulate wealth when about half of your federal taxes are going to the older wealthier people in this country?
It’s an investment on my inheritance! Well, probably my kids. Mom is going to live forever.
It would appear there is only one solution: purge the old people!
MSN – “our website is still a dumpster fire”
The chart is weird.
At age 35 (in 1990), boomers had 20% of the wealth
At age 35 (in the 2000s somewhere), gen-x had 8% of the wealth
Millenials aren’t 35 yet, but are trending towards having less than gen-x at age 35.
This is the key point:
Wealth is a measure of what people own: their assets (which typically include homes, cash savings and stocks) minus their debts (like mortgages, student loans, consumer debt).
At 35, boomers weren’t carrying $30k to $100k of debt from useless degrees.
And couldn’t afford houses yet because of 17% interest on 20% down mortgages.
The student loans always pay off though. that’s why only the government is giving them out.
Too bad wealth is a zero sum game to be allocated rather than a open ended measure.
The 1% is increasing its share of the amount of wealth in the country and older people in general. That is going to skew the statistics. This doesn’t show how much wealth overall has been created.
yes. it’s immediately glaring that actual wealth is not mentioned. just the percentage. because i suspect they’re not really poorer.
Run that data against money spent on higher Ed
SCIENCE
According to a new report published in the journal Pediatrics, 1 in 18 kids goes to high school armed with a gun.
Gun-related injury is the second leading cause of death in children and teens, and according to this report, nearly one million teens take a firearm to school.
Many kids seem to be driven by fear. The researchers found that high school students who reported feeling threatened were over four times more likely to carry a gun.
Eigthy-three percent of the kids carrying guns to school lived in states without universal background checks, and researchers say both state and federal universal background checks could make a significant difference.
Sounds legit.
1 in 18 kids goes to high school armed with a gun.
This number seems ridiculously high. Especially given that half the school age population is under the age of 12. Even in rural communities where it was legal to have a shotgun on deer rifle in the gun rack, 1 in 18 would have surprised me.
Maybe they’re counting Detroit twice.
Lol. So one gun in every classroom, huh?
Horseshit.
No Gun Left Behind
#fakenews
not a chance… wait… are they counting deer rifles in pickup trucks? b/c then okay, yeah fair enough.
Gun-related injury
I wonder what they’re including in this.
Chicago.
Was this based on sources familiar with the situation, or did they poll kids who knew someone who had a gun and extrapolate the results?
Gun-related injury is the second leading cause of death in children and teens
Bull. Shit.
Also, curious term. I suspect it is intended to allow them to bullshit the numbers.
Cutting your hand while making a gun stock on the wood lathe in ship class? Gun-related injury.
*shop
goddammit.
Can you do that on a normal lathe that isn’t set up to do duplicates?
Me personally? Couldn’t make a mini-bat on my best day.
But I was under the impression that gunstock lathes have been around since the late 19th century, so…yeah? Fuck if I know, man. Why you steppin’ on my snark, yo? Haven’t you learned by now that most of the things I talk about either don’t exist or don’t work as I say they do in the real world?
Jeez, it’s like you don’t spend time with burnouts in RL.
I may be mistaken, but I thought gunstock lathes used a master profile to cut a duplicate.
Does that mean the gunstocks are carved by slave lathes? PROBLEMATIC!
How did my throw away oneliner mocking that study devolve into a discussion about the finer details of gun stock manufacturing?
*hits bowl*
Ah, now I don’t care again. 😉
I just re-read that and I came off as a dick. Sorry.
Anyway, I have no idea. There are scores of people here who would have a far better Idea than I.
Gun stocks, as far as I know aren’t symmetrical and thus wouldn’t have a ‘master profile’ I’d think you would need a CNC type carving machine to make duplicates of things like gunstocks.
It includes suicide.
Yeah, now do the overall mortality rate of children and teens. You know the rate that is just a tick over zero because we have eliminated every non-criminal non accidental cause of death in that bracket.
According to a new report published in the journal Pediatrics, 1 in 18 kids goes to high school armed with a gun.
Complete and utter bullshit. So transparently, obviously false I have to wonder about the mental health of the people willing to publish it.
Hell, when I was going to high school in small-town Texas in the late ’70s, the number of high school students who had guns in their pickups during hunting season wasn’t that high.
That means 33 of the seniors at the local high school were carrying guns today? I call bullshit.
So 94.4% of kids do not.
Own goal ?
So there’s no point in paying for all those metal detectors and school resource officers any longer since they’re doing such a shitty job, right?
One in 18 sounds low for the amount of kids that will give BS answers on stupid surveys like my daughter does.
More fun:
Zimmerman misses being in the news.
They’ve got him now.
One witness smacked down Doug Collins — bigly
In Collins’ opening statement, he repeatedly took a dismissive tone toward the quartet of law professors sitting before him. “We got law professors here,” he joked at the end of his opening statement. “What a start of a party.” One of the four — Stanford Law professor Pam Karlan — took considerable umbrage at Collins’ dismissals.
“Everything I know about our Constitution and its values and my review of the evidentiary record — and here Mr. Collins, I would like to say to you, sir, that I read transcripts of every one of the witnesses who appeared in the live hearing because I would not speak about these things without reviewing the facts, so I’m insulted by the suggestion that as a law professor I don’t care about those facts,” Karlan scolded the Georgia Republican.
She seems shrill and bossy.
Here’s the quote of the hearing for Democrats
While Karlan was the shining star of the day for Democrats, it was University of North Carolina Law School professor Michael Gerhardt who offered up what I believe will be the most regularly quoted line of the day.
“If what we’re talking about isn’t impeachable, then nothing is impeachable,” said Gerhardt, referencing what he believed to be the clear impeachable conduct of bribery and obstruction detailed in the report released Tuesday by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee.
Following the law by inquiring on suspected corruption in a foreign government which the US is giving military/financial aid to is impeachable I guess.
bossy
You can’t use that word anymore. Call her a cunt.
You mean “cunte”.
Don’t tell me what I mean.
You nice cunte?
lawyers typically only read the opening statement and never participate in cross examination, right? sounds legit.
High Crimes and Misdemeanors; can they point to any of those? I mean,a misdemeanor should be pretty easy to find if you want to get him out, but they haven’t even found one of those.
I’m insulted by the suggestion that as a law professor I don’t care about those facts
I saw zero suggestion in Collins’ remarks that she didn’t care about the facts.
bribery and obstruction
There can be no obstruction of justice because there is no criminal or civil inquiry by a law enforcement agency or a court.
Bribery is a specifically defined crime. Guess what? The US Code makes it a crime to bribe US officials. It does not, as far as I know, make it a crime to bribe foreign officials. It is also illegal to bribe someone to testify falsely, which as far as I know Trump hasn’t been accused of. Yet.

i’ve joined a few online groups that are part of the Virginia 2A sanctuary movement. to say that rhetoric is heated, violence feels predestined, and we’re spiraling toward something very very ugly is an understatement.
buy ammo and armor this holiday season.
I’ve never seen anything like the turnout at these city and county council meetings. Hundreds of people, 99% pro 2A, flooded every one of them. To the point in many cases where the entire building was full, and people stood outside. The Dems might have just kicked a hornets nest. Not enough people to offset a state-wide vote, but enough to cause problems with enforcement, especially for the western half of the state.
If I understand correctly (and I may not), Buchanan VA passed a resolution that authorized their Sheriff to arrest any retailer or state policeman who enforces any new law passed by Richmond that restricts 2A, including red-flag laws and ammo taxes.
And gave standing to sue in civil court with immunity stripped for LEOs. Again, that may not be correct, but I’ve seen Buchanan’s resolution being held up as the new model to follow.
Good luck with inevitable court challenges.
I think that’s the point. The system is held together with polite fiction. What if Buchanan, and the 15 counties surrounding them, tells the courts to go fuck themselves and continues using local Sheriffs and deputies to enforce a ban on anti-2A legislation? I’d wager 80% of the VA National Guard is likely from those counties.
I’m not saying this is going to happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised at this point. That’s the level of anger and tension out here in rural VA.
So, East West Virginia? Middle Virginia?

“Please, please let Trump’s ego be the thing that crashes NATO.”
As deranged as Trump behaved during that summit with his off the cuff impromptu press conferences and his snide remarks to European leaders, I feel pretty confident in believing that it probably played well in most of America. Regardless of anyone’s belief on NATO, most Americans rightly view Europeans as ungrateful free loaders and watching Trump the buffoon call them out on their bullshit probably made people smile.
Mocking the Canadian prime minister and arguing with the French president probably gained him a couple of points in Wisconsin and Michigan.
“Hey, Macron, good to see your mom is still traveling with you.”
The chattering classes might be clutching their pearls, but you can never go wrong talking shit about the French or making fun of Canadians (sorry y’all) in most of America.
A tragic loss, from which the nation may never recover
On Tuesday, Sen. Kamala Harris ended her campaign for president. With her decision, a dream — mine and so many others’ — of seeing a brown woman become president of the United States faded. Harris’ historic run, the first by an Indian/Jamaican-American woman, undoubtedly inspired many American women, particularly those who do not see their own ethnic or racial background reflected in the largely white American political sphere.
Harris’ attempt to win the nomination for president may be over, but her candidacy reveals truths about the American political landscape that Americans in general and the Democratic Party in particular need to take seriously.
There are many reasons that Kamala Harris could not sustain her presidential run but one central obstacle is that she made her presidential bid in a country that is unused to seeing women who look like her in power — let alone in the highest political office. Ninety percent of elected offices in America are held by whites with 65% held by white men, according to the Reflective Democracy Campaign. Harris, who had occupied the top law enforcement positions in San Francisco and then all of California, won statewide office as a moderate in a majority minority state (where notably political offices are still held mostly by whites).
——-
What Harris saw as political dexterity, essential to bringing people together, others saw in this moment of ideological tribalism as a damning failure to pick a side. Meanwhile, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, white and male and espousing many of the same positions as Harris (but with far less time holding political office under his belt) has fared a lot better, even leading the polls in Iowa. Like Harris, Buttigieg supports a version of Medicare For All but without a total overhaul of the healthcare system. Both come from middle-class academic families who have supported their political ambitions.
There is one crucial difference. Buttigieg is a white man who like the other 90% of whites who hold political office in America, appears to many to be more electable than a strong brown woman.
Maybe she was, independent of race or gender, a thoroughly unlikable candidate whom nobody wanted to see in the White House.
Humor me.
Sexist. You would probably say the same about Hillary.
It’s got to be exhausting to live your life stewing in hateful identity politics like that person. SMDH.
She’s Pakistani. Probably easier to just hate whitey than reconcile her own cultural issues
…but…isn’t she also whitey? Or is she asian? I lose track. My friend’s girlfriend who’s part Puerto Rican referred to herself semi-seriously as a “brown woman” and if I’m out in the sun for an hour I’m darker than her, so I don’t know what the cut-off is.
Part Puerto Rican and female just qualifies you for stabby crazy designations.
She’s definitely cute, and I strongly suspect she’s a.) great in the sack, and b.) not a woman to disappoint if you want to keep all the parts you came into the world with.
it’s cuz she was a cop.

I guess the white, gay male demographic has outlived its social justice usefulness.
Well, at least there is still a Native American woman in the race.
Whatever Warren may be, she is in no way a “brown woman”.
You don’t know her lived truth.
Of course she’s not brown. As a Cherokee, she’s red.

He claimed he was “an impeachment skeptic” until July 25, when he was an impeachment enthusiast as early as March, 2017. Apparently, he didn’t get the memo to close down his social media before testifying in Congress.
But it sounded good
I’m entertained by the idea that anyone who isn’t convinced already will be convinced by some Ivy League law prof pencil necks, who on average are probably to the left of Eugene Debs.
Throw his ass in prison. Same prison as Stone. And while we are at it put those liars Clapper and Brennan in with him.
Does he go to the tape cage for lying?
Sigh…

My nephew is one of them. Supposed to be in Afghanistan around February.
The whole deterrent argument pissrs me off.
If you want to deter a country, you demonstrate your willingness to brutally crush your enemies and then go home.
Iran is not deterred because they’ve been watching us flounder in the Middle East for a couple of decades now.
This hearing is worse than the Shiff Show.
I am not watching but if anyone can top Schiff it’s Nadler.
Three hyperpartisan law professors and Jonathan Turley. You can figure out the rest.
Sounds like a “walk into a bar” joke.
“I am not watching”
Apparently, neither is anyone else in the country. I’d say at this point, it’s deader than a Mueller probe, deader even than a Stormy ho scandal, even deader than a John McCain.
Where’s our buddy Avenatti?
Isn’t he in prison?
I figure it was never intended to go full impeachment and certainly not to trial. They have too much to lose with a trial where they don’t control the process. They will just keep dragging this out well into the campaign in an attempt to tank Trump’s numbers. So far his ratings have gone up.
I fully expect drugs to fall out of their ass.
They’re screwed. They rushed into this thinking it was a slam dunk, and America doesn’t care.
Well, almost half of America thinks it’s a slam-dunk.
But that’s not enough of America.
How can you not like this stuff? We’ve got all the elements of a timeless story: Ego, arrogance, vengeance, treachery, outrage, self righteousness.
Text from Spawn 2 earlier:
“that psycho kamala harris dropped out of the race”
No woke points for her today!
I predicted her doom as soon as she announced. She’s a very unlikable person with a quite nasty sort of aura hanging around her. And I don’t mean that in a pr0n sort of way, I mean she’s a hateful bitch and she doesn’t even try to, or can’t hide it.
As San Francisco’s DA and California’s AG, she was a nasty shit show.
Finally gave up the fight and surfaced for a few. Looks like the dems impeachment dreams is not going too well. Maybe better than Kamala’s presidential campaign, or maybe not. It’s a close call.
Just got out of an executive level meeting a couple hours ago, where I had to ‘present’ the roll out plan of this new app going live next Tuesday. I got asked some serious questions, but mostly it was just bored people looking at their cell phones, thinking ‘what the fuck, this doesn’t effect me!’. Still glad I don’t have to do that again for a while, I hate shit like that.
Been there done that. Followed by the fake “your work looks great, I can’t wait to see more”. A week later the project gets scrapped.
The project is most definitely NOT getting scrapped. Way too high profile and mission critical. Only a question of how much a few of us are going to suffer and for how long before life goes back to normal.
Whatever helps you sleep at night
The app it’s replacing has been around since 2005.
You’re on the Half Life development team?
No one could live being nauseous for that long. One of the few PC games I could never play because of 70 FOV that was unfixable.

I bet they’re fake like her transcripts.

Aren’t we supposed to believe that Flower’s hearsay via pillow talk with Bill is “credible?”

So they still aren’t showing recent pictures of Martin.
Well, that would involve digging up his corpse, and I think that’s considered grave robbing.
Duh, I meant when he was alive. Wasn’t around 5′ 11′ 160? That’s not a little kid.
It was a joke.
OK, I just think it’s ridiculous that the media keeps showing pics when he was 10, even after all this time.
I don’t recall, but I think that’s right. There was one photo of him with a joint or something that somebody found on Facebook or the like that was recent. As a pitbull owner, I’m very familiar with the editorial license sometimes taken when choosing photographs for a news piece, and I swear to God they kept showing the same couple of pictures of him from when he was like 14. That made me very, very suspicious.
It is Florida. There is no corpse to dig up.
Here’s how the local NBC affiliate put it on tonite’s news: “Zimmerman was working for a neighborhood watch organization when he encountered (Martin) and shot the unarmed teenager to death.” (accompanied by a cherubic picture of Martin). Stop the half-assed spin and report all the facts.
Billie Ellish has the worst clothes.

WTF are those things?
Your children’s or grandchildren’s future mentors unless we nuke public education from space, and sooner rather than later.
Clowns.
“Oh, honey, there are people who dress up that way to make you laugh.”
“But daddy, they look creepy.”
“That’s true, son. But we’re supposed to make them feel included if we see them in the USA. ..”
The left these days, they sort of remind me of the Island of Misfit Toys, with pedophiles as the island government.
Who the….?
How the….?
What the…?
Ok, we’ve started the livestream of tonight’s Glibs meetup. You can click this link to join us.
Why did I click? I always click.
Because you wanted to know that something even more fucked up than what you can imagine, actually exists on video?
A sick, sick, masochistic fetish.
I finally bit the bullet (naff naff) and joined the NRA.
I’ve been dead set against it for several years, especially recently because of all the shenanigans, but much like the Republican Party I can’t shake the feeling that in the phenomenally stupid world of politics not supporting the NRA because you think guns are evil and people who own them should be murdered and not supporting the NRA because you don’t think they’re strong enough on 2A advocacy read exactly the same to legislators, pundits, and the undecided fence-sitting public.
Get used to phone calls right when you set down to eat supper, begging for money.
No phone calls. Lots of e-mails and the occasional mailer.
GOA hits me with emails a lot.
The local group, too, but I’m cool with that.
I get a lot of stuff from Second Amendment Foundation, but nothing from GOA. Which is weird, because I send them a donation on a monthly basis.
You’re probably gonna catch some flack for that around here, but it won’t be from me.
As to Tres comment, yes they might call you, but when I asked them to stop, they stopped completely.
As a worthy organization to give money to, Im not going to necessarily dispute that. They have more media coverage than anyone else.
I still get email from them, tho.
I already get emails and stuff from them because I donated to them a few years ago. I don’t have a land line and I only pick up the phone when I recognize the number, so the robocalls aren’t a big deal. It’s just like you say, though, they get the most media attention, so as much as I prefer GOA (to whom I also donate, and much more than NRA) I think it’s important to show the NRA some support. I don’t know. I’ve felt better about donating to other groups. This feels a little bit like sending the RNC a check. But, again, it’s all about the signaling.
Supporting or joining the NRA is kinda like buying the occasional beer for that big dude at my regular bar – the guy I know from way back who usually has my back if I run into trouble. Yeah, there’s been a few times he wasn’t there but at least he’s got a reputation which helps to keep a lot of the riff-raff off my ass most of the time.
Are there more consistently stand up organizations than the NRA? Yeah, pretty much. But you can support more than one of them. It’s not marriage.
“Who? Who? Who?” Hillary hooted.
It’s the little touches.
Morning. Let’s see what happened in the mmuhpeachmint shitshow while I was sleeping. Team blue managed to find the most punchable face in human history to make their case.
“most punchable face in human history”
Wait… that’s not what I remember Patrick Kennedy looking like.
Fuck….I thought that was Steve Winwood
Nathan J. Robinson would like a word.
Mornin’ Straffin-san. New post.
/no Glib left behind
Nah, there’s a guy at the hotel bar here who is intriguingly punchable. So much so that I sweat I saw him the last time I was here, 20 years ago.
Swear even.
