Happy skies this week! First off We have Venus and Mercury aligned with the Sun. This is an astrology 101 sign: “Lucky in Love.” Also related is Saturn retrograde in alignment with the sun and the earth which signifies a new beginning at home, or that your house will be swallowed by a sinkhole. Consult your local geologist. Trying to have a little somethin’ somethin’ on the DL? Venus in Cancer has got you covered… this week at least. Leo plays host to both Mars and Mercury which is pretty awesome news for my chances at the action pistol tournament and for anyone else engaging in games of chance, speed or martial skill. The moon in Virgo sends out powerful feminine energy and helps with navigation and medicine.
While the skies are happy, the cards aren’t. Three quarters of the cards are reversed, but on the not-quite-as-bad side, most of these cards aren’t terribly potent. Also, Lachowsky will get that job offer.
Cancer: King of Swords reversed – Cruelty, evil intentions, breach of faith, barbarity, perversity
Leo: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment, though less than if the card had been upright
Virgo: 8 of Coins reversed – Voided ambition, usury, vanity
Libra: 7 of Cups reversed – Desire, will, determination
Scorpio: 6 of Wands – Triumph, great news, hope
Sagittarius: The Tower reversed – Oppression, imprisonment, tyranny
Capricorn: The Emperor reversed – Benevolence, compassion, credit, confusion to enemies, immaturity, obstruction
Aquarius: 3 of Swords – Removal, absence, delay
Pisces: 4 of Coins reversed – Suspense, delay, opposition
Aries: 9 of Swords reversed – Imprisonment, doubt, fear, shame
Taurus: 3 of Cups – Conclusion of a project, plenty, merriment, healing
Gemini: The World – Assured success, voyage, flight

I don’t have the energy for that.
Cancer: King of Swords reversed – Cruelty, evil intentions, breach of faith, barbarity, perversity – you take that back that be slander. or libel. whichever one is in writing
It only counts as writing if it’s written on paper.
just like the founding fathers wanted
Gemini: The World – Assured success, voyage, flight
Totes buying a lotto ticket. I fucking love Science!!!
I know right
Looks like Lotto 6/49 or Lotto MAX are my only two options. Otherwise, I got nuthin’. :-/
Scorpio: 6 of Wands – Triumph, great news, hope
Looks like we’ll split the jackpot.
Just remembered to turn on my phone, got my scores from yesterday. 12th out of 31. 9th in my division (stock service pistol) and 6th in overall accuracy.
RAWR!
Nice shootin’, Tex!
All NY glibs should come down/up/over in September and shoot with me. It is much fun.
Great job, man!
What type of competition was it? We have one at a local range called a combat pistol league – my neighbor keeps bugging me to go.
It’s my club’s version of Action Pistol. Scoring is identical to USPSA/IPSC/IDPA but they are way more relaxed on what calibers are allowed, no power factor requirements, etc, though the steel won’t be knocked over by anything lighter than a fairly hot .380. Also no size or weight limits on (full sized) pistols, divisions are determined based on what modifications have been done to the gun/type/size (so there is a division for compact pistols).
Cool. Sounds similar. My neighbor shoots a lightly modified 1911. He tells me the best shot in the group is an old guy shooting a 686 Smith. He commented that it really pisses off the guys who have highly modified (expensive) pistols.
I liked the movement-heavy stages much more than I expected. But my favorites were the Rube-Goldberg/reactive targets: So there was a small steel popper attached to a string. Hitting it caused the string to yank a block out from underneath a target facing edge on to you. The target was mounted to a cylinder with a cam track so that as it dropped it turned facing towards you then back edge on.
https://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/targets-accessories/target-stands/drop-turner-prod40250.aspx
So (the timer’s running this whole time of course) you’ve got to nail the popper, transition to the paper target during its rotation time and then get your shots off while you can see it.
I like it.
Sounds like it would be an excellent training tool for your carry gun, too.
IDPA is kind of a puritan offshoot of Action Pistol. Their dogma is you should only complete with plausible carry guns. So my Shadow 2 is forbidden because it’s too heavy (they only allow guns up to 2lb, 11oz).
So yes, it would be/is. I believe (don’t quote me) the whole sport was created by a guy to use it as a training tool back in the 1960s.
What were you using?
CZ Shadow 2.
Oh, the company that makes the fantastic grips on my Shadow 2 is having a 20% off sale, ending today. I wholeheartedly recommend these things for any heavy or awkwardly-sized pistol:
https://lokgrips.com
Also, they have the glibertarians.com logo on file now if you want it added.
Nice:) Thanks. I really need a CZ.
The guy that literally won everything was running a CZ. (SP01 Shadow I believe).
I’ve heard nothing but good things about them I like the DA/SA MOA as well.
Nice work!
Excellent! Congratulations!
???
W00t!
Good job!
Just came back from TN with some souvenirs – blind buys – no taste tests (due to timing).
Yee Haw Dunkel – 6pk
Wiseacre Gotta Get Up to Get Down – 6pk
Honky Tonk Cherry Berliner Weisse – 6pk
Calfkiller Pine Divine – (64oz growler)
Next time I’m in the Crossville area, I may try heading over to Sparta to check out the Calfkiller brewery – reviews looked pretty good.
No Peanut Butter & Jelly Moonshine?
I recommend Sugarlands ‘Shine if you are in Gatlinburg.
I think they had a peanut butter and jelly moonshine.
Picked up most of it in a Good Times store – didn’t see Moonshine, but may have been a different aisle. Next time.
Picked up most of it in a Good Times store
So was it dy-no-mite?
Not getting hassled, not getting hustled.
Yeah, Sugarlands has about any flavor you can think of. I can get a couple of the flavors here in Columbus at Giant Eagle.
Sugarlands and Ole Smokey both have places in Gatlinburg where you can have tastings and buy ‘shine (yeah yeah yeah I know it is legal so it isn’t real ‘shine). I stopped in Sugarlands because Ole Smokey is available in NH but Sugarlands isn’t.
A couple I chatted with at the tasting had been to Ole Smokey first. They said I made the right choice as Sugarlands not only had a better selection but the tasting was more fun.
I bought three jars. Lemonade, root beer, and apple/rye.
Yes, I had gone to Ole Smokey first and someone there told me about Sugarlands and yes you were told correctly.
does beer keep in a growler more than a day after opening, or do you drink the whole 64 ounces in a day?
“Whole” 64oz? That’s just getting warmed up:)
Seconded.
thirded
Some days around here, 64 oz is called breakfast.
I’ve been good splitting it over 2-3 days, but I have some good plastic seals on this one, not a metal cap.
I’ve had the Wisacre on a semi regular basis, it’s not bad. I haven’t had the other three though. Hope you enjoy them.
I had some Yee Haw beer while I was in Nashville. It was pretty good. I think I might have had the Dunkel but I don’t remember. A few days of drinking are a bit hazy.
I had quite a large booze haul from my road trip. Booze from only four states though. I need to do better next time.
Ghost River itself is in west TN, but the excellent brewery is in Nashville
Taurus: 3 of Cups – Conclusion of a project, plenty, merriment, healing
About time. Taurus has drawn so many consecutive bad weeks I was beginning to think all this stuff was just made up.
Leo: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment, though less than if the card had been upright.
Truly less or just inflated expectations? From my secondary:
In other words, Leos, let’s not be navel-gazing little bitches! Now get out there and make something happen!
Thanks, Not Adahn!
Libra: 7 of Cups reversed – Desire, will, determination
I’ve had plenty of that lately… I just need some success from it.
That’s not remotely helpful, but…
“On the other hand, the Seven of Cups reversed may also indicate an end of confusion, of cutting out illusions, and moving forward with clarity.”
I’d like to think I’ve had a bit of that lately. Things are definitely more clear, it’s just the clarity is over how screwed I am.
I’d rather be clear on how screwed I am rather than stumble along, happy and stupid, until I get run down by the semi-tractor of fate.
Well, it won’t be boring.
What’s Saturn’s problem?
It’s a little too close to Uranus?
He ate his kids, swallowed a large rock, then had his wedding tackle cut off and tossed into the sea.
Makes a

USWNT up 2 over Netherlands. Netherland’s goalie is pretty good. Could very easily be more
USA wins
Congrats, gals. I guess we’ll have more drama with the White House to look forward to.
I jusr bellied up to a bar for lunch. The post game festivities were on the bar TV.
This is an astrology 101 sign: “Lucky in Love.”
So I’m walking proof astrology is bullshit.
I’d rather be clear on how screwed I am rather than stumble along, happy and stupid, until I get run down by the semi-tractor of fate.
Have you been spying on me?

No!
I like this new freedom of association trend going on.
I would, if it were going to be extended to everyone and not just the FOTM.

And just like that, 79% lowers sprang into existence.
Actually, if I’m reading that correctly, as long as you sell the serialized part separately from everything else, you can sell anything. The evil badparts aren’t firearms. And the firearm part of sold stripped, wouldn’t have any of the forbidden evil badparts.
Other than .50BMG lowers. Those are apparently right out.
“Unfinished lower receivers”
So they won’t allow the sale of aluminum bar stock or epoxy resin.
The double standards by which freedom of association is applied is just another example of why most people view liberalism as just an endless loop of hypocrisy meant to protect the status quo and impose the beliefs of the elite on others. Freedom of association doesn’t exist and there are dozen of bakers, florists, and photographers who can attest to that
Not Adahn, you are a machine writing these every week.
Well- Friday morning, I went into town in the truck (which is a diatribe unto itself). Rolling more or less happily along, and… it flames out. Quits. Deader than the Fourth Amendment. I manage to roll around a corner and park it at the curb (if it weren’t for dumb lock, i’d have no luck at all). Pop the hood, glare at it for a few minutes, and call triple-A. That’s what I pay them for, is so I don’t have to roll around in the street trying do repairs. I concoct a hypothesis. A fuel delivery issue, possibly related to the tank selector valve/switch. Wrong. Drag the thing home, dive under it. No sparkles. Not even a hint. I pull the cap off, and the little brass contact on the tip of the rotor is broken. I have never seen that before. Off to Oreillys for cap and rotor.
Put them on yesterday, and… still no sparks. WTF? The only thing left is the control module for the trigger, something else I have never seen fail. The only way to test it is to throw a new one at it. This morning, I put the new module in, and Presto! Vroom, vroom. Old shit, FTW! A small victory, but I’ll take it.
thumbs up emoji!
I’m glad to hear you sorted it out. Sucks that it had to die at a shitty time.
When I lived in Indiana/Ohio as a teen/young adult, my piece of shit cars would invariably break down in the middle of nowhere, at 1:30 am, in 12 degree weather in January.
When I was 18 or so, my then-car stalled at a redlight in the middle of the day. It wouldn’t start. I got out and started pushing it off to the side. A bunch of folks got out of their cars to help me. One asked what happened and I told him.
He said, “What if we tried jumping it? You got cables?”
I had cables and tried jumping it.
My car started. I thanked him and we went our separate ways.
Huh. I fixed a guy’s flat tire in the Walmart parking lot not a month ago. At first he was very suspicious because he is not from here. It is common here for people to assist others just because. It is one of the things that give foreigners (people not from the south) a bit of culture shock.
My story was from when I still lived in Pennsylvania.
Not the South, despite what some New Englanders think.
True, there are some parts of Pennsylvania around Adams and York Counties where it is tough to tell which side of the Mason-Dixon line you are on, but Pennsylvania is not the South.
I don’t want to sound like I’m denigrating people in New England. There are good people here. I just find it harder to find them unlike when I’m outside New England.
I spent all afternoon learning the Midas M32 soundboard. Some stuff is awesome. Some is confusing as hell. It doesn’t help when the stage has some dead inputs that aren’t marked.
Any glibs run sound? I’m interested in actually becoming good at it, but don’t really know where to get experience. Rotating in once every 6 weeks at church doesn’t really cut it, and that assumes they’d even need my help (they don’t).
I have no clue how that ended up here. Reposting at the end of the thread.
Lol. Forever ago, I was a certified stage electrician. I was allowed to operate/service all sorts of equipment… except soundboards.
I was trying to make a sandwich and could hear the TV. Some ‘expert’ was decrying our foreign policy to Iran. We should have stayed in the Iran deal. We shouldn’t be so mean to them. Obama so wise, Trump stupid.
Wife came out of the bedroom to see what I was cursing about.
A belligerent nation that sponsors terrorists, stirs shit constantly, has killed American soldiers, keeps its own people under a boot, and swears its greatest ambition is to wipe Israel off of the map is a nation we should capitulate to. We should give them money to funnel to terror organizations and let them develop a nuclear weapon. This is dumbassery of the highest order. Not ordinary dumbassery but a special kind that no ordinary moron would subscribe to, only special kinds of moron tards. In fact you would have to take those special kind of moron tards and drop them repeatedly on their heads to get them to buy that shit. Either that or find someone who wants to work in the interest of our enemies.
The question is then: what is to be done with Iran? Sanctions aren’t going to work because our European “allies” (lol) aren’t going to abide by them. So your only options are engage in a series of proxy wars or confront them in a traditional war. Sanctions do not work.
The Iran deal may not have been ideal, but short of war or a series of proxy wars (such as Syria) what else can the US do?
Not give them money.
I am not certain that sanctions are not hurting them. Put pressure on the Eurotards.
Bomb nuclear facilities directly or through proxies. Shoot a missile up the Ayatolah’s ass.
The Iranians have a uranium mine in Namibia. Shut that shit down.
The next time the Iranian people try to rise up to overthrow the regime, help them instead of ignoring them.
That is just what I can think of off of the top of my head. There is plenty we can do.
The money has long since gone. That’s over now. Rejoining or leaving the deal won’t change that.
Bombing the Iranians to prevent them from building a bomb will almost certainly draw in actual nuclear powers like Russia and possibly China. It would be a massive conflict that would dwarf any other recent conflict. And would likely be unpopular from the outset.
If they get much closer to having a nuclear bomb Israel is going to bomb them. There is not much we can do about that.
That’s for Israel to decide. Not us
^ That’s the ticket.
“Hello, Iran? This is the United States. We’ve decided that you can do whatever you want vis-a-vis nukes and we won’t stop you unless you attack us. When we hang up with you we’re calling Israel and telling them the same thing. Buh-bye now!”
no god assassins like in fantasy books is the issue
“God assassins”. Like Michael Moorcock’s Eternal Hero?
my question would be what does the iran deal accomplish in 10 years?
What does not having the deal accomplish? It’s pretty much the same in my opinion. I don’t see the need to confront Iran. That seems like more of a concern for their neighbors, not a country thousands of miles away
well if it is the same why have a deal?
The facade. I’m not defending the deal. I’m only saying ratcheting tensions isn’t going to work
meh tensions ratchet either way. because fuck islamists. iran could have been something until it was fucked up
“…iran could have been something until it was fucked up.”
Thank you Jimmy Fuckhead Carter.
Iran has done its own ratcheting. The tanker bombings and the drone shootdown are kind of provocative acts on their own. At least as bad as anything the US done.
Agreed, Pie, they could have been something. Even now they’re in better shape than they should be, in spite of having a bunch of medieval religionists in charge.
It is a concern for us just like the Norks. If they get the capacity to do it they will as likely bomb us as any of their neighbors. They are psychos that dream of having some kind of empire. At the least they will use nuclear capability to extort money from other nations.
If they want a nuclear bomb so much, we could just give them one…
I’m back you clowns!

Welcome back how was the trip?
I saw late you were headed to your cabin. Where did you end up buying?
Worldwide, customers may not use a Service to transact online sales of any of the following firearms and/or related accessories to private citizens.
How the fuck does that work? I get it, if Benioff doesn’t want to provide his services to evildoers who sell legal products, that’s his business. But how do they police that? You can probably pretty easily weed out businesses which deal exclusively in firearms, but are you going to ban all sporting goods stores? Ban “Farm and Ranch” stores, which all have a gun counter in them out here? Are you going to ban hardware stores, because they sell tools which can be used to build those dreaded ultra scary ghost gunz?
They will probably do it as well as PayPal prevents people from using Paypal to buy guns.
I got ten bucks they have a whole department dedicated to weeding out the evildoers. Hell of a way to run a business, but then again he is way more successful than I am.
Or drop whenever they pop up, meanwhile take their money.
Nice that his principles are only for sales to private citizens. Sales to government entities, especially murderous ones, is still a-ok. Some animals are more equal than others.
I’m back you clowns!
You were gone?
Sorry about the NSFW early in the day
Don’t be. Looks delicious.

Serious evidence-based news, for serious science-loving people
The White House has not extended invitations to Facebook and Twitter to attend its social media summit on Thursday, people familiar with the matter said.
The people, who spoke to CNN Business on the condition of anonymity, suggested it was not surprising. They said they believe the summit would amount to a right-wing grievance session and was not aimed at seriously discussing some of the issues facing large technology companies.
———
The White House has not yet publicly disclosed who it has invited.
But the Washington Post reported last week that the White House has asked to the event a number of right-wing luminaries who have been extremely critical of social media companies. Some of these individuals have claimed, often without real evidence, that companies like Facebook (FB) and Twitter (TWTR) harbor bias against conservatives and censor their speech. The companies have denied those claims.
Republican lawmakers and conservative media personalities have for years lobbed claims of anti-conservative media bias at Silicon Valley companies.
But President Trump has poured fuel on the fire, attacking large technology companies on a regular basis and suggesting they need to be regulated by the government.
In a meeting earlier this year with Jack Dorsey, the Twitter chief executive, Trump asked about his follower size. The president has suggested, without evidence, that Twitter makes it difficult for his supporters to follow him.
Trump says regulate? That’s bad. Zuckerberg (and whoever that other guy was) says regulate, and it’s smart policy whose time has come.
Not aimed at regulating right wing hate speech = not serious.
Totally trustworthy.
Brooks says, without evidence, that FaceBook and Twitter are “totally trustworthy”.
“The people, who spoke to CNN Business on the condition of anonymity,”
I made the mistake of reading past this point and found this howler:
“….right-wing luminaries …….. Some of these individuals have claimed, often without real evidence, that companies like Facebook (FB) and Twitter (TWTR) harbor bias against conservatives and censor their speech. ”
Why bother lying? They aren’t even pretending anymore.
CNN is the fakest fucking news out there. Goddamn.
I remember some of you take DHEA as a supplement. I started today with 25 mg. Any hints/tips/advice ?
Take 4 more
125mg/day?
Wont that give me non-stop boners ?
Why do you think it was recommended?
Start slow and work your way up. Keep a journal on how you feel each day. Report back.
Great. A homework assignment.
You’re the guinea pig that’s going to let us know about the horrible side-effects.
My grocery store is selling hamantaschen. If I remember my Jewsday Tuesdays correctly, that means it must be Purim?
Or you have a ham in your pocket?
You’re special?
Somebody had pastry laying around. Purim is a spring deal.
Since (((you guys))) use that weird calendar I never know when to expect holidays.
Use this one weird calendar to celebrate holidays.
#3 will surprise you.
Weird? We use a leap month to keep things regular.
So, a few days ago I’m on Vox and find an article something like “5 Ways to Discuss Global Warming”. I read the first reason and HF! They’re really taking off the mask this time. Basically it’s about how discussing Science is for Republicans (almost a direct quote) – it’s all about the power.
The amazing thing was that it read like Suthen had written it! Ideas we’d all recognize from his GW posts. It was uncanny.
Went back today to link to the article and congratulate Suthen on his new gig at Vox and it’s gone. Maybe I just couldn’t find it. Vox seems to keep a good achive, but that wasn’t there. Or maybe somebody realized they’re not supposed to say that shit out loud.
Ayways Suthen, either congrats on the new gig or congrats on having a reader at Vox.
Well now I am disappointed that I cant read it.
“…somebody realized they’re not supposed to say that shit out loud.’
Whatever happened to that ‘climate scientist’ that claimed it was already too late and the antarctic ice shelf was collapsing? We haven’t heard from that dumbass lately have we? See, with a scam the doom has to always be impending, it cant ever actually arrive. Always just around the next bend. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have fit him with a brand new pair of cement shoes.
Good for her.

Re: Cancer reading – that sucks. On the plus side, if I make it through the week, the following week we’re going away on vacation.
Vacation? What does that mean? Never heard of it,
It’s where you drive across the country and live in motels but — and this is the weird part — you don’t work.
Then why drive around then do nothing when you get there? It seems a silly concept, I mean, where the money in that?
You don’t do nothing. You go and drink and ogle people of the preferred sex.
Oh wait… I do that even when I’m not on vacation.
I do that every day, so I’m on vacation? Cool!!! Ohhh.. nevermind
How does that go, do what you love and you’ll never work again?
I did laugh at that one, thanks NA!
no problemo mi hermano.
So now that I know what this”vacation” thing is, where ya headed?
Resort out in the middle of PA. I’ll probably post some pics while we’re out there.
Enjoy the trip!
If you are near State College, I recommend Zeno’s and Otto’s.
Thanks!
Gonna be an hour+ South of there.
Raystown Lake?
I’ve never been there but I know some people who like it there.
Bedford Springs Omni
I don’t know that place.
OT: last night’s dinner at Coriander Cuisine was . . . close to sublime. The tandoori mixed grill was shared amongst us; I wanted to order another one just for myself. They also had the pesharawi naan stuffed with ground fruits & nuts. Gimme that plus a cup of coffee in the morning and breakfast is served.
However, one niggling criticism — in an otherwise laudable attempt to cater to a wider audience of tolerances for heat, you’re asked what level of heat you want in the finished dish, which means they don’t add the chiles to the dish until they’re ready to serve/plate it (or close). This also means they use chiles with flavour profiles that are mostly just heat, without any of the nuances you can otherwise get from a bunch of different Indian dishes.
This is unfortunate, but I guess it’s unavoidable when you’re serving us palefaces. Mind you, my buddy from Mumbai (he refuses to call it anything but “Bombay,” BTW) and his wife both dislike hot dishes, even though they grew up with them. ???
Who doesn’t like Hotdish? Only Godless heathens I say…
No kidding. Tater tot or wild rice hotdish for the win!
Seriously autocorrect? I had to add hotdish to the dictionary?!
Wait, wild rice and tater tots are interchangeable?
Meh, I just hate when you tell them you want it spicy, and you get served something mild under the impression that the white guy sitting there doesn’t expect Chinese or Indian food to be spicy. Interestingly, I’ve never had this problem in a Mexican place.
It’s because Mexicans have wypipo friends who enjoy food at the same spice level as themselves.
Which thing in the mixed grill was best?
Toss-up between the Beef Boti and the Shrimp Kebab; I think partially because I was familiar with the other dishes, so the Boti in particular was a pleasant surprise for me. I bet it would be killer with lamb.
Pesharawi naan is best naan. I absolutely adore Indian food. There was a short-lived Indian restaurant in Bryan that had two dishes I’ve never seen since. One was (from memory) dum aloo bernarsi, which was hollowed out potatoes stuffed with cheese and other stuff cooked in a tomato sauce. The other was (again, from memory) gosht dal basanti(?) the gosht part wasn’t what was amazeballs, it was the spice blend used for the dal. First your head exploded from chili overload, then you were transported to a psychedelic alternative plane of existence where everything was constructed from the platonic essence of yum.
Ah crap, now I’m hungry again.
Vox seems to keep a good achive, but that wasn’t there. Or maybe somebody realized they’re not supposed to say that shit out loud.
See my Vox link in the AM post.
“Well, to be blunt, we actually *do* want to take all your guns away. It’s for your own good.”
That one might not be too sticky, either.

Sagittarius: The Tower reversed – Oppression, imprisonment, tyranny
Unless I’m the one who’s supposed to be doing the oppressing and imprisoning, which is not rally my bag.
Yeah, The Tower is one of those cards you really don’t want to draw. It’s not a coincidence that in The Glib Tarot ™ it’s being replaced with The SugarFree.
This week at brooks place.
Other than grilling lunch, I haven’t gotten anything done today. This Dead like me marathon has kept me on the couch all afternoon.
All I did was move the sprinklers and try to kill my moles. Back to drinks on the couch too.
I actually got up at 9:30 or so because I didn’t get drunk last night (probably a good choice that I should make more often). I started some tomato sauce with stew beef that is in the Crock Pot as we speak, and there’s a ball of homemade pasta dough resting in the fridge. Can’t decide if I want to make fettucini or try my hand at farfalle with my new pasta cutting wheel…
Ooh, cooking project! Fun!
I did get drunk last night so leftover ribs, wings, and pizza all day.
I actually was pretty productive, for me. Got the truck running again (hopefully), then put the new GSG Firefly slide on my Sig Mosquito. Straight swap. The safety even works. Passed the function test with flying colors.
What was the reason for the swap?
I spent all afternoon learning the Midas M32 soundboard. Some stuff is awesome. Some is confusing as hell. It doesn’t help when the stage has some dead inputs that aren’t marked.
Any glibs run sound? I’m interested in actually becoming good at it, but don’t really know where to get experience. Rotating in once every 6 weeks at church doesn’t really cut it, and that assumes they’d even need my help (they don’t).
I do, what’s up? Besides ditching the bad input cables
Nothing in particular is wrong. I’m 15 people away from having the authority to fix the input cables. I just switched to different inputs. I think your second comment was exactly what I’m looking for. Something to learn the basics. I can mix it and get the levels right, but I’m mostly guessing on EQ and don’t really know what the purpose of some of the more advances board features are. I’m just happy if I can hear everything at a decent level, there’s no horrible distortion, and I’m not fighting feedback.
There is a book called live sound reinforcement that will change your life regards live sound, band or church, highly recommended
Being good at running sound isn’t common. Some sound guys spend so much time learning the gear, they don’t learn to listen. While knowing how the gear works is good. Make sure what you hear sounds good. It’s an art form I don’t have. My friend is a master at running sound and making things sound perfect. I don’t have it.
If you want more experience, walk into any bar that plays live music and tell them you’ll run sound for free drinks. They’ll probably hire you on the spot. Then go get an attorney, your wife won’t last long with you staying out drinking until 3am no matter how many times you tell her you’re doing it for the god and the church.
Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I’d be happy to learn at a bar, but I don’t know that I’m interested in doing so until 3am. This is a “nice to have” skill, not a “need to have” one.

I always get a kick out of the caliber wars. Ammo selection is more important than caliber when you’re talking the big 3.
Was a cool video though
What was the reason for the swap?
I have
mentionedwhined about this before. The slide on the Sig cracked (design/material flaw), and Sig wouldn’t warranty it because I didn’t buy it new from them. It has been in a box for years. GSG made them for Sig under a sales agreement. That contract has expired, and now GSG sells the exact same pistol as the Firefly.Meanwhile a couple whom I know just bought the sporting goods store where she has worked for a long time. I went in and talked to the guy at the gun counter, and he called GSG for me. Bottom line, I got a new bare slide for my gun for forty bucks including shipping right to my PO box.
Got here a few days ago. Woohoo. Back in business. It’s a fun gun to shoot.
Sweet. Rethinking the Sigs on my wish list.
Center fire classic P series are good to go, as are the 2022/2009/2340 lines.
Good to know.
I’m gonna need another brick of Blazer .22lr, shortly, and I know right where I’m going to buy it. Customer service isn’t completely dead.
I can’t speak to the .22, but Blazer 9mm is utterly filthy, even compared to other cheap crap brands. 150 rounds of blazer and my support thumb is as black as a moor and my forearms look like I’ve been cooking over a campfire. Fucking Winchester remanufactured isn’t that dirty. Federal aluminum cased ($0.15/round at targetsportsusa.com!) looks like surgical grade compared to that.
Blazer is so cheap though
How about 30 miles east?

They’re going to need a bigger load of rat poison.
I stopped at the marijuana store on my way home from tile job yesterday, and coolant was running out from somewhere near the water pump, maybe from the pump. It’s a van, so its not real easy to see everything. Sigh. I suppose I should go look at it.
Radiator coolant? Plastic or aluminum barb fitting?
I have no idea. But the leak is back by the pump, and it looked like the coolant was coming from one the bolt holes. It’s intermittent.
Rethinking the Sigs on my wish list.
I’m still pissed at Sig about that, but the only thing I really have the WANT!s for other than more 1911s (ghost gun project coming slowly closer) is a ’70’s 0r ’80s p220 .45.
Apparently when you make a factory in the U.S., it doesn’t have quite the same quality as if it’s in the CH or the GDR.

I’ve been looking at both the Legion 229 with the Romeo and the 365. The only Sig I own now is the 716 .308.
Next toy won’t be until next spring though.
The Sig/GSG is a finicky thing. it wants a pretty hot load to cycle properly. They strongly recommend minimag or better, but Blazer works, and it’s cheaper.
