Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! And what a glorious morning it is for those enjoying the Washington shitshow as the Democrat witchhunt continues apace with Trump suing two of his banks to prevent them from abiding by the Democrat’s subpoenas to hand over every sliver of banking information they have on him.
Unfortunately for the Democrats, executive privilege case law favors Trump.
Trump be like “please don’t throw me into that briar patch!”
Rosenstein officially out at the DOJ.
Beto tries to out doomsday AOC.
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
>>We only have ’10 years’ left on Earth if we don’t address climate change
Damn that clock moves quickly. btw, I still don’t have a flying car!
So, Beto’s gonna publicly apologize for being wrong in ten years when doooom doesn’t happen, and urge everyone to kick out of office any politician who made such claims since they’re either liars or out of touch with reality?
/nevergonnahappenever
Why would he do that when we are all dead?
Can’t argue with that logic.
These dim-wits love science and yet do not understand the geologic timeline. I thought we were the ones praying for SMOD.
So what’s going to get here first? Flying cars, cold fusion, or the end of the world as we know it from climate change?
Is this like the trick question where you ask people if you have Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Jason Voorheis, and a coked up Diego Maradonna, each in a corner of a soccer field, and a soccer ball in the middle of the field, which one gets to the ball first to kick it, and then make fun of the idiots that don’t get that three fictitious characters can’t get to the ball to kick it and Maradonna is to busy snorting coke off hooker’s backs to bother?
Even a coked up Maradonna would beat them to the ball, dragging the hooker and all.
Heh! He has been known to do that sort of thing…
I have a feeling I’ll be buying a Holland & Holland Royal Grade side-by-side 16 gauge before any of those things happen.

Cold fusion? Hot fusion would be nice.

That’s great. It starts with an earthquake.
Just because. Its my favorite REM song:

Let’s keep the REM rolling:
My favorite is either this one
or this one.
…or this one.
I can’t stand Stand.
Only Happy Shiny People is worse.
Imagine sounding this tight in your first TV gig.
I prefer the earliest albums.
A good one from Reckoning.
True story: I saw them first in 1983 at an outdoor show where the Replacements and the Suburbs were the headliners. If I remember correctly, Mike Mills was wearing a Suburbs t-shirt during the performance.
No one knew anything about them, except Radio Free Europe had just started hitting college radio. I was surprised that they got as big as they did.
I made the joke recently that Chronic Town was a great album and it was all down hill after that.
It probably was their best, really.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv4nuD7q2uQ
I prefer the earlier work as well, but both Monster and New Adventures in Hi-Fi are surprisingly good.
R.E.M. going ‘electric’ was not quite Dylan going electric, but pretty wild at the time.
I saw them in 1989 for the Green tour. They had 4 encores, and played every song off every one of their albums except “Superman”. For some reason they never played that song live at that point in time. Probably the best concert I have ever been to.
#metoo, and I don’t even particularly like Green. I only went for the older stuff.
Green was the last REM album I owned.
I have everything (including Dead Letter Office) up to it and nothing after it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgy8HEya7HQ
I saw them in 2003, the concert was so boring that even stoned the light show lost my interest.
I thought it started with Curt Cameron noticing a bunch of people missing on an airplane.
They have been telling us for 20 years that we have 10 years before we are left living in Waterworld. At least the old time cultists would tell people the day of reckoning, while soon, was not happening in their lifetimes, so they couldn’t be made to look like idiots. Now all these tools make the mistake of saying it will happen in a time frame that allows people to clearly see they are full of shit. But these AWG cultists keep acting as if they have solid ground to stand on.
That was back in the day of print media that half the population either couldn’t or didn’t bother to read. Information moves about a zillion times faster and never goes away. Their big hope is that the info keeps coming at such an accelerated rate that no one will remember what these charlatans said yesterday.
“Now all these tools make the mistake of saying it will happen in a time frame that allows people to clearly see they are full of shit. ”
Look socialism was being halted because people weren’t worried, now they have to be.
But, sarcasm aside, it was a particularly short sighted move. The people most likely to believe this bullshit are the young. You see it with the kids waking out of school, harassing DiFi. And in 10 years when they finally become voters… They are going to know that on this subject somebody was willing to lie and make wild accusations.
Haha, That’s funny. I’ve seen this crap from the time I was a small child. It’s worsened, but not by much. These people do not learn. I once read a series of scary predictions that sounded exactly like the stuff they were peddling in the eighties. It was all attributed to Napoleon. Nobodies gonna learn from this, trust me.
“These people do not learn.”
^^^THIS^^^
They are not aptly labeled “low information voters” and targeted by these doomsday Totalitarian fascims/marxism is the only thing that can save us” cunts like the asshats peddling this AGW shit by accident with these shrill and bullshit scare tactics because they are bright or able to better inform themselves.
I had a science “encyclopedia” from 1973 that claimed we were all going to be killed off before the year 2000 because of PVC contamination.
“by the year 2000…..[insert name of impending DOOOM!!!!] unless you send us your tax dollars. ” No different from any other TV evangelist.
The Distant Future…the year 2000.
And that’s what angers me most. How they’re increasing anxiety over kids. And it’s on purpose.
No problem!
I’m sure they’ve got something for CO2!
Star Blazers
Also one of my “go to” songs for karaoke!
God I loved that show when I was a kid.
btw, it was recently remade with a more complicated plot, more characters, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6LFkMniuTk
I think all boys of a certain age watched that show. At the time I had no idea that it was made in Japan.
The fact that they used the Yamato is what gave that away for me… But then again, I was one of these kids that needed to know everything back when… Now I am older and wiser, and have learned not to care.

There was an old school Englishman who fought in both World Wars. Bill Tillman was a renounce explorer and mountain climber. Back in the late 30s IIRC he is on a track in the Himalayas.
In his notes on the trip he mentions seeing large human or ape like footprints in the snow.
The guides ( they are famous for guiding on Everest but I’m drawing a blank right now) acted nonplussed and said the creature was frequently spotted on and around the mountain.
I believe this was before all the hype and celebrity surrounding the Yeti or Bigfoot.
Tillman was a no nonsense man and extreme stoic.
I believe he saw them.
“Democrat witchhunt continues apace with Trump suing two of his banks to prevent them from abiding by the Democrat’s subpoenas”
The Senate should start subpoenaing Democrats information. Start with the presidential candidates.
You get a subpoena! You get a subpoena! Everyone gets a subpoena!
Military coup!
You mean CIA.
Someone has their shit-stained fingers stirring this odious pot. CIA? Sure, why not?
“Everyone should come to the streets, in peace.”

ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONE.
… GO ON.
ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Man, this is risky for Guaido. Early reports, at least, seem to show he’s out on the streets of Caracas with a military unit (not clear which one), but this is not a general turn of the military on his side. I suppose he’s hoping other units will join him as the day goes on.
He is probably presuming that the uniformed services will not fire on each other….now, the “Bolivarian National Guard” ….eh?
Considering they have not been receiving their usual perks, and if that overrides the fear they might have of losing their current protection, he might be right…
“Man, this is risky for Guaido.”
Indeed.
” I suppose he’s hoping other units will join him as the day goes on.”
How coups happen.
“not clear which one”
Presumably a high-status unit if they are based in the capital. That’s a very risky thing and if they don’t win those people will be shot or hanged or tortured.
Who’s with me?! *Charges*
That usually turns out poorly.
Bluto knows that truth…
Latest report is “tear gas fired outside La Carlota military base.”
Those who know more about Venezuela than I may be able to deduce which military unit is involved in the coup from this.
It is hard to see how things could get worse but then there are the Iron Laws – ‘It can always get worse’.
I was trying to upload The Simpsons wherin Bart and Homer are trying to retrieve the BBQ pig but the clip is not available in my country. “It’s just a little slimy! It’s still okay!”
That episode was filled with classic lines.
‘I have gaspacho!’
‘Go back to Russia!’
Of course, ‘Sure Lisa, a magical animal’.
I have a bad habit of eating less-than-fresh cheese spread . . . the hubs makes fun of me and calls me Homer, “It’s still good!”

Chase yanks tweet offering advice on how to save money
Dunno what’s funnier Woke Bank being eaten by their own, or the mental gymnastics the left pull to be offended by this.
I had no idea that “Americans” was a British fetish.
“Critics claimed the tweet was guilty of “poor-shaming.””
Oh fuck off. If you have enough pride to look ascanse at Mony saving advice, you deserve to stay poor.
Don’t worry, one review for Endgame said they were upset by the fat shaming in it.
Well, Rebel Wilson’s character was a nasty skank.
Eventually we’ll reach the “Shame-shaming” stage and the universe will end.
South Park did it already, and it was a great episode. Any episode that has Cartman in a mobility scooter fighting Honey Boo Boo while James Cameron is leading songs about himself is well worth watching.
That’s cool. I could have had parallel thinking with Michelle Wolfe.
“Poor shaming” sounds like a Monty Python skit.
“It’s Saturday. 10 AM! Time for the poor shaming. Line up, poors! It’s time to be shamed!”
Fuck the shame police. If you do dumb shit, you should get shamed for it. Poverty is not a choice. Staying poor when you have opportunities is.
Or, you know, what leon said.
We aren’t shaming them for being poor, we are shaming them for being financially illiterate morons who continually make bad choices and fail to learn from their mistakes.
The left have successfully convinced themselves that “being poor” is something that just happens. You are born into it, like a caste.
– Von MIses
ARGH! This idea pisses me off since both sides of my family came from poverty. I repeat myself by the old man came from a family of eight, was raised in a house with no plumbing. He dropped out of college after his first year so he could get a job and have the $$ to raise a family. And he really did “pull himself up” as did his brothers and sister. For example his eldest brother is a multi-millionaire and only has a GED. He started a tool ‘n’ die company and, before his retirement, created the machines that makes the engine parts for GM.
My grandfather on my mom’s side was a landscaper – and one of his son is a physicist / professor who has done work for NASA.
You should’ve quoted the second half of the statement. Specifically:
“But all of us should be open to having our bad habits called out so we can live better lives.”
If banks are going to shy away from this sacrosanct and elementary principle of banking and financial well-being, they may as well not give advice at all anymore. If people don’t save, they can’t build credit and have money to invest. Credit and investment (and interest/fees charged) are the essence of how they make their money.
It’s a little like a doctor telling a fatty to go on a diet or risk dying but getting attacked for fat shaming.
That is also happening.
Reading the comments. I’m not getting the gist. They seem to be missing the point.
Me: Save your money.
You: How?
Me: Cut discretionary expenses.
You: Why?
Me: To save money.
You: Yeh well you got a bail out!
Me: What’s that got to do with your personal finances?
You: I’m going to Starbucks. I’ll show you!

“take a cab when you can”
This is sound financial advice to the struggling poor?
Yeah, WTF? I remember being poor in NYC and never, ever taking a cab.
“Executive privilege is not specified in the Constitution,”
Emanations and penumbras all the way down.
“…yet courts have consistently ruled that presidents have the right to withhold certain documents and information from the other branches. Two of those categories are the ‘deliberative process’ — materials that reveal how government decisions are made — and the ‘confidentiality of presidential communications.'”
Yeah, and I’m sure Congress would totes roll over if the President wanted their confidential meeting notes, etc. But what I really see here is the courts quietly guarding their own secrets and priveleges – because if a congressional committee can subpoena the executive, then why not the judiciary?
Yeah I was wrestling with that. On one hand, lack of transparency and no constitutional foundations, on the other hand Congressional subpoenas are almost always a political act. Not a criminal investigation, so I can see why the courts created it.
While we mock E&P, you can’t really have a functioning government if two of the three branches are constantly nit-picking and micromanaging the other. And the courts scrupulously avoid micromanaging the political/elected branches. I suspect that this also means that the courts do reserve absolute subpoena power for themselves.
Are you trying to tell me that what we have now is a functioning govt?
While it’s not without problems, it is able to pass the majority of bills that go to a vote, and everyone’s checks are still clearing (SLD about the debt problems and inflation notwithstanding).
What am I missing here?
The White House has zero obligation to reveal, share, or testify regarding anything, and
Congress has zero obligation to fund departments and programs with which it is not satisfied.
Ergo, a small government executive could ignore Congress, while a large government executive needs a bit of brinksmanship.
Don, you silly rabbit. If you didn’t fund departments and programs, the Leviathan might not continuously grow. What if you eliminated some agency and didn’t have them around to make rules for you and instead had to actually legislate? You might pass something that could get your ass unelected.
This has passed the criminal investigation stage and is now simply taxpayer funded opposition research for 2020.
“The Mueller report and this assault on the legislative branch made Nancy’s call to avoid impeachment much more difficult for rank-and-file members,” said Rep. Gerald Connolly, D-Va., a member of the Oversight Committee. “We’ve moved from (Trump’s) culpability laid out in the Mueller report to an assault on the institution and constitutional framework that is the legislative branch.”
I don’t know the rules/precedent on avoiding Congressional deposition but I am pretty sure the “assault” is going the other way. The man complied with the entire farce investigation and let it proceed unabated. It found nothing of merit despite having an endless scope. I think the worse assault is endless investigation of someone without rational, legal basis just because you don’t like him. And this entire thing is hypocritical as fuck, considering the last administration and the would-be Clinton admin.
He didn’t stick his head in the perjury trap. Hence, ergo, therefore he’s obstructing.
^^^THIS^^^
I have so far heard that the Obama admin’s weaponized bureaucracy had at least 5 different entrapment operations going before the election, and then the machine went into full blown entrapment mode with the whole Sessions recusal, Comey firing, Mueller special council, wasting 2 whole years and some 430 million trying to get Trump to entrap themselves, only to have the Sztrok/Page emails and Barr’s appointment end that whole idiotic endeavor without them being able to get the guy to actually do anything illegal. Failed coup attempt and all, but these desperate fucks are still at it.
Bingo
What if DOJ Started investigating crazy eyes for all the lies he said to key the crazy investigation going?
Of course I don’t support that as a DOJ investigation is a different animal from a Congressional investigation.

Perhaps after the next blue wave 2020 we can charge this ugly turtle face with derilection of duty and treason. These idiots are toddlers who refuse to do their jobs.
This person doesn’t know what dereliction of duty or treason are.
These idiots are toddlers who refuse to do their jobs.
This is their job. At least, until they lose an election. They have no Constitutional mandate to do any particular thing. They could convene a joint House-Senate orgy and it would not be any more a dereliction of “duty” than doing nothing.

The president of the United States nominated Garland. He was ABSOLUTELY owed a confirmation hearing. That’s how it works. He was denied a hearing because McConnell didn’t think a nomination should happen in an election year. Clearly you don’t understand how this all works.

Your argument is that’s how it should work, not how it must. Hearings are a modern spectacle, they are not contemplated in the text of the Constitution, nor do Senate rules compel the majority to hold. Senate withholds its consent and fails to act on dozens of nominees every year
Now stay down.
Yeah, this has been a dumb argument from day one. You need the advice and consent of the Senate to appoint a judge or justice. The President ignored their advice and they didn’t give their consent.
Case closed.
Yes, but #bidenrule would have been a pithier response.

Lol. Funny people give me hope.

Here’s a question: if retards speak, and there’s no one there to report on it, do they make a sound?
Yes. It sounds just like a mosquito buzzing in your ear.

They do but people like you can’t hear it ’cause you ain’t woke enough. Need more Kool aid over here!
I worked with those folks for a couple of years. It’s confused yawps and caterwauling for the most part, sometimes something unpredictably precise like “Black coffee in a yellow cup!” or “Bitch, bitch, bitch! All the time!” My favorite one was an ancient Asian lady that never said a word except when she’d yell “You Bad Booooooy!”
Every time a retard speaks, an angel loses its wings.
Every time a retard acts out, a wannabe angel loses their will to live just a little. I washed out after two years and they had me dealing with the most extreme fellows. I saw do-gooders come and go. Some of those poor girls didn’t last a week.
So we are dead in 10 years but the plan completes in 2050. I like it.

OMWC?
speaking of OMWC, when I was trapped at the Chicago airport, I saw a sickenly happy looking family walking through one of the terminals.
And then I noticed – gah! – the teen daughter was wearing the shortiest short shorts I’ve ever seen with her butt cheeks hanging out on the bottom. I assumed it was OMWC bait; the police having not been notified that he has moved out of the state.
I saw that last summer at the grocery store and was ashamed for looking (at a distance, my eyes aren’t what they once were) and then I remembered the late 70’s and early 80’s and calmed my outrage. Jesus, the kid might have been fourteen…
OMWC just sends them to the mine when they age out. Up your game, Citizen!
Yeah, genital function is more of a “use it or lose it” thing, not the other way around. Or so my post-menopausal ladyfriends tell me.
So socialism applied to sex Ed?
“the piece of tape is now covered in hair, skin, lotion, cologne and anything else the volunteer had on his arm”
These people isn’t sexing right.
“However, when those boys attempt to stick the piece of tape to their arms, parts of it fall off as it has been sullied and lost its ability to stick”
This doesn’t usually happen to guys until they’re in their 40s or 50s, though.
Let me introduce you to the wonderful world of man-scaping!
I didn’t realize it until last night – John Havlicek passed away. I vaguely remember him winning championships when I was a little kid.
Havlicek was one of the more underrated players. I grew up in the eighties and loved basketball and even then, less than a decade after he retired, you never heard anyone talk about him. He was part of eight NBA championship teams and was the centerpiece of two after Russell retired. You could argue he was just as important as Russell for the last several titles of that dynasty as he was their leading playoff scorer while playing great defense. All-NBA eleven times, all-star eleven times (before it became a popularity contest), all-defensive team eight times, but somehow never gets mentioned when people are talking about great players. It’s a shame.
He didn’t showboat or talk trash, just won games and championships.
I liked the story about the ABA / NBA All-star game where he stole the ball from Dr. J three times in a row.
The ghost of John to the white courtesy phone!
YouTuber who weighs 20 stone says being big doesn’t get in the way of her having sex EVERY day – and claims no position is off limits
WTF is a “social media influencer?” Some kind of internet starlet?
Why do HAES wimmen always brag about having skinny boyfriends?
So she found a chubby fucker and is now happy. More power to her.
What most people miss is that if you are female, there will always be some dude desperate enough to have sex with you, no matter how fugly you are. Unfortunately, the inverse is not true for men, because women tend to be very selective because of biology. Now let the woke geneder studies fucks get all angry at me being all patriarchal and saying stuff that isn’t just common sense but based on biology.
based on biology
And on demographic observation: there are tens of millions of women opting out, sitting at home, and giving up.
It’s easier to get laid if you’re a woman — a Doublelist ad for “BBW wants no strings sex” will get plenty of replies, while “Fat guy wants no strings sex” not so much. But every man has women who would be into him, if he recognized the signs of sexual attraction.
Women sense my power, and they seek the life essence.
Don’t you deny it to them?
I notice there is no female equivalent of the “incel” thing.

She’s fairly good looking for 20 stone (400 pounds). Her boyfriend is probably into PAWGs.
Cowgirl is a no-no.
And being seen together in public.
Mopeds and big girls.
You apparently have not noticed all the black guys into PAWGs. As some women I read about put it, “I know it’s time to go on a diet when a lot black men start to look at me appreciatively.”
Are you saying that the brothers love them some of that cushon for the pushen?
A lot of black men prefer a big booty is the PC phrasing.
Heh – I knew this punk rock girl, who was a size 4 or so when I first met her. As they years went by, she got larger and larger. And then complained about all the black and hispanic guys who started honking the car horn at her or trying to plck her up.
Cowgirl is still doable if she takes most of the weight off him using her thigh muscles, or also arms if she is leaning forward so he can play with her boobs. She looks like she is in good enough shape to do that.
Uh, what if she’s drunk or strokes out? (Actual CSI plot point)
I can already see the obituary entry….
If you’re not fucking women you like, in the postion you like, because of a remote risk from a CSI plot, you’re doing it wrong.

The thing I find sad is the media pretending they are all such heroic figures because evil Trump is a tyrannical dictator threatening all of them with imprisonment, when they gave a pass to Obama, who actually did sick his weaponized bureaucracy on any reporter that had the temerity to show him and his people for the criminal frauds they were.
Yup.

Apropos of nothing except I found it amusing. So, the socialists “won” the Spanish election by getting 29% of the vote – more than any other party. But the amusing part is the rise of a far-right party called “Vox.”
Maybe Vox can do a piece on Vox?
but did they come to dance?
Five Things I Learned From the Mueller Report
It’s nit the crime but the
cover-upinsistence and vindication that you were innocent that gets you.Yeah I would like to hear from some of our lawyer folks how this is illegal…
His lies are more transparent than predecessors’, everybody not in his inner circle has no loyalty to him, and the media is applying a heretofore unseen level of scrutiny to every action he takes.
His greatest crime is not being Barack H. Obama.
No, his greatest crime was to win the election that they had rigged for Hillary.
I don’t think any of them actually like Hillary. They wanted Obama’s third term.
… where is the crime?
The McGahn talking point is irritating. From what I have read, Trump did ask McGahn to call Justice to point out that Mueller had conflicts of interest and shouldn’t be the special prosecutor. So a) Mueller hadn’t been hired yet so he couldn’t really be fired and b) Trump wasn’t saying there shouldn’t have been a special prosecutor, just that it shouldn’t be Mueller.
But yeah, from reading the MSM you would think that Trump tried to strong arm McGahn to remove Mueller mid investigation so the whole thing would go away.
As Mcgahn the White House Council how is the conversation not anything but legal advice? None of this was stuff they had to give to Mueller but they did anyway. All this stuff is bullshit that they could have protected with Executive privilege but they did not. Having conversations with your cabinet wouldn’t seem to me to rise to obstruction if your just spitballing courses of action and it’s dismissed which all this shit was.
Ben Wittes – totally a fair, impartial observer. Totally doesn’t have two years’ worth of Russian collusion fever dream writings.
I agree with this.

TL;DR – Most (not all) secular, liberal Jews are not Jews at all. They retain the identity out of convenience, but their actual religion is Progressivism.
Is that why you no longer participate? I left the Catholic church years ago over the rape-priests. With their push ever leftward, I don’t think I’ll ever go back.
Oh, and this was a good line:
Sexual assault is more common in public schools.
5 out of 4?
From what I understand Harvard U is the rape capital of the world.
Haha
Yes, that’s why I no longer participate and/or attend shul/synagogue. The breaking point for me was when the Rabbi compared Israel to Nazi Germany in his sermon. I’m not interested in going ultra-Ortho, and any other movement suffers from the Prog brain parasite.
I do little things at home, but attending services is now a non-starter.
^This. But because of the supposed heritability of religion we are stuck with that. Most annoying example: soi-disant “secular, progressive atheist” chick who took off for the high holy days every year. Sure, whatever hon.
Fuck, I’ve had someone claim I was still Catholic because I was raised Catholic (gave it up in High School and never went through confirmation).
Eddie’s church apparently will issue a “de-baptism” certificate upon request, but asking for one is both silly and childish.
No need. I am an apostate after all (ordained in a non-Christian religion). That’s one of those automatic excommunication things (not like that’s really followed much anymore anyways).
After I divorced my wife I got a request from her priest for an annulment . I signed off on it, though I didn’t understand the rationale. By my definition that made her an unwed mother.
I had permanent custody of my two kids so I never thought about the sort of unusual church goings on. I have no idea why that (an annulment) would be important to anyone.
When you control the banks, the government, the media, Hollywood, and the military-industrial complex, why would you care about a cartoon? The Illuminati don’t care about Dan Brown books.

Minnesoda Somali woman is the Belle of the Woke Ball.
I almost wish that I still had a subscription to SI so I could cancel it. What is ironic is that it was the swimsuit issue that caused the wife to demand that it not be renewed. This was after her 12 year old son disappeared for 4 days after it showed up. Then came out of his room walking funny.
There are too many good quotes to not include here:
Why do I feel that if Mike Pence gave a speech on the benefits of modest swim suits, the feminists would go off high and to the right about his blatant shitlordism?
The swim team. Do these morons have any idea how much drag all of that fabric creates? The other girls will swim the length of the pool twice in the time it takes the bag lady to get half way across.
That’s good enough for a participation trophy.
No, it just means they will make all the chicks wear them.
For fairness.
And modesty.
You’ve come a long way, baby!
At the Olympics the Germans won the women’s 200m breast stroke in 01:48, the Italians came in second at 01:52 and the French took the bronze at 01:53.
Coming in dead last was Norway at 2 hours, 15 minutes and 10 seconds. When the media was interviewing her Lena said “I don’t want to complain, but I think some of those other women were using their arms”
I heard that when they checked the Chinese women’s team they found they all had penises, which is why they were disqualified and not able to win that contest…..
That’s why Olympic swimmers wear bikinis.
How do we explain volleyball?
It’s usually hot outside?
Irrelevant. In 2 more Olympic cycles, the “women’s” events will be won by women with cocks who couldn’t make the men’s team.
Yeah, but they cut off her clitoris to shave weight, so it’s a push.
Pence may cloth his words in ideas of modesty, but in truth he seeks to control all women, making them be subject to what the patriarchy deems appropriate. It is every more sickening that he wants young women to leave some parts to his filthy imagination. / Salon piece I’m working on.
That is only half the hot take. You also need to point out that Islam – the religion of peace – is totes awesome because they promote a way of dressing that frees women from body shaming and the Male Gaze.
Next up will be the 400 lb sex maniac from up thread.
Are you asking for that to happen or saying it will be a travesty when it happens Q? 🙂
You don’t get turned on by a trashbag?
Wearing a black trashbag at the beach. Now that is true comfort.
Hah!
My gramps was a longtime subscriber. He would always hide the swimsuit issue from my grandma and give me the copy.
A truly great man.
Oh, and fuck the woke bullshit. I wanna see the skin.
Your gramps had the right idea. I think we actually subscribed for three years or so. But we did learn to hide the swimsuit issue from the wife.
I have no idea what they are thinking with this sort of woke stuff. I’m sure that in about 10 years it will be 100% burkinas, way too much skin (fatties) and bulges (trans).
How many male editors are sitting in these meetings grinding their teeth when the woke women start spitballing these ideas? They know that if they scream, “It isn’t hard, it’s hot tits and asses!” they will be fired before the end of the day.
Judging by nearly every other publication, the number of people who still work there who actually enjoy what the magazine was about is probably approaching zero.
And wondering “Why is print media dead??” as they watch the pink slips going out.
I wonder who gets more hits, SI or The Chive…
I’m sure the Progressives have a plan to fix that. They just need to get their hands on a few more levers of power at the FCC.
Are her ankles showing? What is she wearing on HER FEET?
And false toenails? I see economic opportunities here
Why your brain doesn’t register the words ‘climate change’
I’ve seen this movie: Clockwork Orange
“…hasn’t the climate always been changing? (It has, but nowhere near this dramatically!)”
Citation needed.
The ground temperature record gets manipulated every year, polar ice cores have a resolution of about 1000 years, and the satellite record shows only modest warming at a fairly constant rate. They’d get a lot farther if they stopped lying.
If they stopped lying they would have to admit that the climate is changing well within statistically normal changes according to the historical record and consistent with the fluctuations expected as the last ice age ends. There would be no pretense for instituting international communism and the destruction of western, enlightened civilization.
And advocated emission-cutting policies that actually, you know, cut emissions… like fracking, or nuclear.
Instead it’s an everything against the wall grant-grubbing free-for-all. You wonder why “climate change” doesn’t elicit much of a response? Might have something to do with this “x # years to live” bullshit you keep peddling. Just a thought.
The opposition to nuclear gives away the game. If (1) it is an existential crisis and (2) carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are the cause, then switching to nuclear from fossil fuels is the way to go. Yet everything is trending the opposite direction, with only a couple of percentage points going to “renewables” instead.
Of course, neither premise 1 or 2 are (entirely) correct, which is evidenced by their actions.
“deniers”…..totally not a religion!
It’s always the messaging, it’s never that your ideas are a steaming pile of shit. You just need to *explain* it better…
might not be the best phrases to get the public engaged
Clearly you need something scarier sounding. But remember that it is everyone who disagrees with you that is fearmongering.
Anybody watch Game of Thrones. Good lord the showrunners have taken it down to mediocre with their fan service. Last season was terrible, this season is also looking terrible. They took a character driven political drama and transformed it to a CGI hero action series.
Nope – but I’m sure it’s a pain to wrap it all up this season, so GoT is bound to be a clusterfuck trying to tie all the lose threads together.
Well they’ve had to do what normally takes Martin more than 4-5 years and craft an air-able story in less than 1/4 the time. I don’t envy them it’s really hard. It’s just a shame that they have taken what is the core concept of the show and flipped it around to an action story. Although it appears they didn’t have much of a choice.
Martin takes 4-5 years because he has to wait for the paint to dry so he can get out of the corner.
The girlfriend still is into it, which means I’m still watching it. Even she was complaining about the last episode. At least there’s only 3 more episodes left.
Yeah I said I was out after last season but I just want it to end. I’m still watching. But It’s a ton to wrap up in three episodes.
I at least was able to hold off on paying for HBO due to vacation, so I’ve only got to keep it active this one month. And it means I get to catch up on Silicon Valley and Veep.
I enjoyed the last episode. But I do agree they have dumbed the series down in favor of action.
I won’t ruin anything, but the cinematography in the last episode was so bad I had to go online to read about what actually happened. It was almost impossible to watch.
It gets back to that next week.
They need to have a big battle every now and then.
The problem with this battle was that it was too damn dark to see anything.
I’m not going to crap on the battles, but my inner nerd was horrified by the plot armor some of these characters have. It’s ridiculous last season and it’s beyond the pale at this point. I will say though everyone was crapping on the Dothraki charge, I actually thought that was the best part of the episode.
My wife laid into me for nerd raging too much. The Unsullied are pikemen but they fight like a phalanx, which is stupid. I won’t get into the rest for fear of spoilers, but suffice it to say if a general drew up that ass-backwards battle plan he’d be executed for treason before the ink dried.
See there were so many ways they could have made that episode far more interesting and shocking but they chose to cop out and hopefully preserve stuff for shock value later. If this show ends with Dany and Jon sipping mojitos in Kings Landing on the Iron throne I might destroy my TV. And given how the writing has gone it would not shock me.
*ahem*
World War I.
Hey, I’m still not recovered from watching They Shall Not Grow Old.
Yup.
“These guys, in this scene? All dead a half hour later.”
Which surfaced this memory:
I have a book of photographs that somebody’s great-grandfather took on the Western Front. He was a photographer, and some of them are aerial shots. Its hard to be sure, but in one aerial picture it sure looks like somebody (probably a deserter) was crucified in no man’s land.
I don’t recall the guy’s name, but I decided it was time to get as drunk as possible when it got to the point where he’s weeping as he’s describing coming across a captain from his side still apparently living because he could see his lungs, which were no longer in his open chest, still moving, and shooting him in the head.
the plot armor killed me. they could’ve easily thinned out the cast by sacrificing Grey Worm, Brienne, Pod, Jamie (he’s fully redeemed by now) considering the zombies nearly brought down the dragon, how could Jamie, Brienne, and Pod survive what felt like hours smashed up against a wall by a mob of them?
Yeah that was my biggest criticism. The death count was no where near high enough. Only 1 actual major character died and only 3 others who even had names died and yeah they did it with one of the dumbest battle plans ever put in place.
The Dothraki should have been kept out of the fight at first until the Wight army was fully engaged with the Unsillied who should have been better supported by engineered defenses to limit the area that the Wights could attack them from. Once the wight armies were fully engaged the Dothraki should have been used as a skirmishing force to punch holes in the Wight lines for the Knights of the Vale (who somehow were mysteriously absent even though their leader was present up through a couple of episodes ago) drove through those gaps to engage the White Walkers directly. Finally the plan from the start should have been to use one Dragon as flying artillery blasting the Wight lines as often as possible while the other flew cover looking for the Night King and his Dragon.
Overall the episode was an ok climax of the show but just once I would like to see someone actually have people who know warfare plan those things out
^THIS! Granted, the castle sucks as castles go, but it’s better than nothing. Sallying your troops with the intention of pulling them back anyway is just going to get more people killed for no reason. You’re fighting an enemy that doesn’t break, so the only reason to strike first instead of just focusing on holding the walls would be to hit a specific target, AKA the Night King. But you already established that your strategy was to draw him INTO THE WALLS in order to get him as he’s going after Bran.
So, fine, great, you’re wishy-washy and you’re going to split your army such that your strongest fighters are outside the walls. Now you’re lined up with your Spartans-who-grabbed-the-wrong-suitcases holding your center, you’ve got an enemy you can’t see and who outnumbers you waiting somewhere in the dark, and you’ve got artillery that fires flaming ammunition. You’ve also got the finest skirmishing cavalry on the planet armed with flaming swords. So, naturally, you’re going to set them off your right flank, say, to harass the enemy flank once they’ve engaged your line, right? You’re going to send them off in reserve and then slam into the enemy’s rear? Oh, you’re going to screen your line with them, maybe try to break up the charging enemy a little with some hit-and-run stuff? Oh, no, of course, you’re going to charge them straight ahead into the dark and just kinda see what happens. Great idea!
I mean, seriously, why’d they even bother with the trebuchets? They should’ve been pounding the enemy lines with those things as long as they could to try to force them to engage or leave. Or at the very least so they could see where the hell they were. And yeah, so far, there appear to be two people on the White Walker team who can throw stuff, and you’ve got two dragons who breath fire. It’s not rocket science.
Also, the wights are seriously flamible, take 2 Ballista about 20 meters apart tie a rope between each of the bolts, light it on fire then fire em both at the same time.
That’s gonna set a lot of wights on fire
oh yeah, you’re right. where’d all the heavy cavalry go?? i guess they had to feed the horses and conveniently missed the battle.
and they had Bran’s crow eyes as surveillance so they can’t claim ignorance of the enemy’s position.
Bran might as we be a deaf mute.
I thought they did a decent job last season of speeding things up without making it feel too rushed.
Sunday’s episode though was definitely rushed, especially when the second episode was akin to the Breaking Bad fly episode. Nothing else could have happened two weeks ago?
Plus not enough people died during the battle. How the hell did *SPOILER* Sam survive when all he did was freak out the entire episode?
My biggest issue with the last episode is nothing of consequence actually happened in regards to character/plot development. NK was a huge buildup which lead to nothing but a minor inconvenience in a loss of an army. Which I’m sure will be figured out next episode magically.
This. Sorely disappointed in how they just threw away most of the mystery in the story. All that build-up for what?
they’ll have Glover’s men (he refused the call) and any remaining Iron Islanders in Yara’s fleet. plus Howland Reed’s daughter Meera Reed will bring up the swamp people from Greywater Watch.
I have a feeling there won’t be a real battle of consequence going forward. It’s going to end in backstabbing and deal making.
Yeah, why go to war, you have one of the top assassins alive who can literally become other people for a period of time. Just go in an kill Cercei and Euron
Yeah, that was kind of an anti-climax. Are they trying to set so-and-so up to have a claim to the Iron Throne via a surprise bundle of joy courtesy of the awkward sex scene with homeboy? Or maybe as the King/Warden in/of the North, type of thing? Or was it to establish her bona fides for the next person she whacks, presumably Cersei?
Arya’s baby will be “the prince that was promised”. Cersei is on her to-kill list. but Cersei is also prophesied to die by the hands of the valonqar which means little brother or something like that.
could also be gender neutral as the term for “prince” in Valerian is gender neutral and could mean male or female. So if it is gender neutral it could be that Cersei will be killed by the “Younger sibling” rather than little brother and that would work for Arya
She’s going to kill Cersei while wearing Jamie’s face. Works either way.
after that zombie killed Edd, it would’ve chased that fat fucker Samwell Tarley down and ate his face off.
Because he had Frodo, Gandalf and Aragorn in his corner.
My wife has been annoyed by the trite dialogue. I don’t know why, but for some reason they decided what the series really needs as it comes to a close is witty one-liners.
The quality of dialogue dropped drastically once they ran out of original source material.
The latest episode was the worst yet, over-long drawn out 10 minute story, and then an abrupt end to whole thing. And the military strategy for the battle was non-existent.
I genuinely don’t understand people who thought it was awesome. I don’t think we’ve been watching the same show.
that scene in the library with Arya dodging zombies was suspenseful fun. but yeah the overall plot was shit.
there were suspenseful scenes for sure. It just didn’t add anything to the overall narrative at all.
Animal:
My sons and I got to talking about old handguns after one bought a lookalike colt auto 25 airsoft. I had the oldest start reading your history series when he didn’t know Colt was a famous handgun maker and didn’t know what the Peacemaker was. This coming from the kid that watches westerns with me… Obviously, I am lacking in my fatherly duties.
He finished the first two pretty quickly before we had to eat supper last night. I’m guessing he’ll read the rest tonight. Personally I think your gun articles are the best on this site. Obviously the topic is interesting, but they are well written, witty and the perfect length for the forum. Kudos!
Meet Andrew Yang, the Democratic Candidate with Something for Everyone
Only the stupid ones.
Bing Bing Bing, Sharona show Mike what he just won.
Why do they keep pulling “twelve years” out of their ass like Bullwinkle and the hat?
Its get them well past their potential 8 years.
I think a lot of them will be out of work through no fault of their own as the political class screws them over by demanding ever higher minimum wages and these low skilled jobs become automated and done by robots.
He’s got his. Why not pander?
I’m starting to detect a pattern here.
12 years. But what does 12 mean?
/Les Nessman chin stroke.
I don’t think UBI is going to replace disability insurance, although it might change the market for it. The welfare program they call SSDI isn’t insurance as it doesn’t factor risk into the price.
It would never actually replace any of it. This yahoo might say that’s what his plan is, but only the most foolish and gullible would ever believe they’d actually get that through Congress.
Yeah, even if they somehow managed to actually get rid of all the old programs, the “universal” basic income that replaced them would have to have “adjustments” for every category that some erstwhile welfare program covered, and probably some new ones too. At this point, they’d probably have to scale UBI based on “privilege” too.
Yang’s UBI would replace some other forms of welfare that libertarians oppose, including food stamps, cash payments, and—perhaps more importantly—disability insurance
For all of maybe a week. What I’m about to say isn’t very pleasant, but it’s a reality – poor people tend to be much more inclined than everyone else to make bad decisions. I know, it’s a stunning shock. But, there’s a host of evidence that poor people tend to be less skilled than other people of delaying gratification, assessing risks and rewards, and maintaining healthy relationships. And if some people are like that, even with their $1,000 monthly check, they’re still going to be poor (even if that $1,000 was completely offset by supply gains and there was no price effects to the program). Is Andrew Yang going to say “Oh, well, too bad for them?”. Somehow, I doubt it. And he won’t call his $1,000 a month giveaway a failure. He’ll simply re-institutue the benefit programs in additiion to the UBI.
“For all of maybe a week. What I’m about to say isn’t very pleasant, but it’s a reality – poor people tend to be much more inclined than everyone else to make bad decisions. I know, it’s a stunning shock”
Only to morons Bill. People that are not forced to see the world through the spectrum progressives do can clearly see the problem.
I have often asked progressives bloviating about the poor and what not what what the landscape would look like a week or two later, if someone magically reset the world’s wealth tomorrow and everyone woke up with the same amount of cash in their pockets. You should hear the hemming and hawing when I point out that the people that had been poor before would by margins reaching near 100% be poor again. When you cite the example of what they did with the $2K credit cards they handed out in New Orleans after Katrina (spend in on booze, blow and bitches at the nudie bar), they immediately accuse you of racism. As if poverty is a condition that is only defined by race, and not by a general lack of will power and constantly making bad decisions that provide instant gratification ad huge costs over time.
Totally ok with replacing food stamps w/ the equivalent money. I think that idea will last about 5 seconds when Democrat top men see how poor people spend the money though.
The way things are today, you are correct. But you can bet your ass that if strip clubs, package stores, and drug dispensaries start donating heavily to democrat campaigns, that these pols will turn a blind eye to the issue ASAP.
Reason must be absolutely over the moon.
I’ll state my traditional position on UBI. If UBI *actually did* replace all of the other wealth transfers already in place–shit, if it replaced all of Johnson’s Great Society programs–I’d regard is as a tolerable starting position. Not great, not even good, but at least it’s fair in that everyone gets a piece, it allows more freedom in terms of how recipients use the money, and it’s probably cheaper if it replaces ALL of the existing welfare state.
The problem of expansion still exists, because what do you do with people who need more than $1000 because of an emergency, or who are terrible with money, or who just straight up need more money? Why are you taxing people who make $8000 a month and then giving them $1000 of it back instead of just not taking it from them in the first place? For that matter, how are you paying for this? At the risk of getting all Charles Murray there are cultural problems that happen when you just start paying people for being alive, too, but I think at least in the short-term they pale in comparison to the logistical and financial issues.
Again, if you want to give me $1000 a month, how about just don’t take any SS or tax withholding for the first $12000 annually.
It’s like my dad’s response to people arguing for minimum wage raises: “Why only $15? Why not $50 an hour? Why not $100? If there are no costs to raising the minimum wage, why go cheap? Don’t you want to get people out of poverty???”
Not only no costs, but tremendous benefits.
“Something for everyone” is going to get him zilch in the primaries. Only one constituency matters in the Democrat primaries: the lunatic progressive fringe.

Why should I care if I am out of work if the world is ending?
Local update: Chicago is officially on board the sidewalk shitter bandwagon. On my commute this morning I glanced down on the sidewalk and saw a big ol’ turd that was definitely too large to have been produced by a domesticated animal of any sort. I’ve seen all sorts of things in this filthy city over the past three decades, but this is definitely the first time I’ve encountered human excrement deposited on the sidewalk of a major thoroughfare. It seems like the city should erect a commemorative marker next to it.
I’m sorry. I remember my first encounter. Soon you’ll just sign internally on sighting a shot pile.
I saw a couple on Clark & Lake back when I was working in Chicago a few years ago. But it was on the corner of the big Govt center/courts building, so I figured it was just as likely to be political as anything.
Clark and Lake is home to the Thompson Center which serves as the city’s metaphoric giant toilet anyway, so that doesn’t really count. Today’s sighting was right on a recently rehabbed stretch of Wabash in front of a mid-tier boutique. The placement of said turd also indicated that the perpetrator had no qualms about dropping trou right in plain view instead of at least tucking away in a darkened corner as one might imagine a typical sidewalk shitter to do.
Band name or album?
Taco Bell menu item?
I have eaten Taco Hell twice in my life. I ended up pissing out of my ass real bad. Never again. No matter what. People that can eat that grade F shit and not get sick will be giving roaches a run for their money after the nuclear apocalypse.
Watched a few more episodes of The Patriot over the weekend. Thanks to whomever told me to stay with it. Funny as hell.
I started up with it on the recommendation of my ex-BIL and I’m glad I did. I’m in the second season, and every episode tops the one prior so far.
“We know that certain oil and gas corporations have been fighting public policy on this issue, have been hiding their own science and research at the expense of our climate and human life,” O’Rourke told Hayes. “So whenever those two things come in contrast or in opposition, I’m always going to choose the people of this country.”
“Having said that, I want to make sure those who work in the oil and gas industry, those who work in the fossil fuel industry are brought along as partners to make sure that we make this transition in the ten years we have left to us as the science and scientists tell us to make the kind of bold change that we need,” the former congressman continued.
Yea, fuck off. Even if true it would be inconceivable to achieve this. And, ironically, if you did get your tyrannical desires implemented it would result in the elimination of the modern world. Oil is in and is used for nearly everything in some form or fashion.
Go get drunk and drive off a bridge, Bargain Bin Kennedy
hiding their own science and research
Even if this were true, why would it matter? Nobody is required to publish what they know. You don’t have to patent an invention or process, you can keep it as a trade secret instead. And if you did publish your results, but somebody didn’t like it, they would accuse you of biasing the process or trying to manipulate popular opinion.
And in the same breath, he turns around and says he wants them on board as partners.
“You are evil fucks who value profit above human life. Want to be on my team?”
And isn’t the constant refrain you hear when they do publish studies “YOU CAN’T TRUST ANY STUDY FROM BIG OIL!!!!”?
I have a bad feeling that if the Energy Industry published their science and research – and it proved that it was impossible to replace fossil fuels in 10 years – that O’Rourke wouldn’t accept those findings.
The only good studies are studies by people that rely on government grants/cheese and thus conclude what said statist government prefers – more freedom robbing tyrannical shit is the only way to save humanity – be concluded?
It’s the whole argument that private sector money should not be allowed in elections, but union money should, again. What favors their cause is good and noble, and anything that doesn’t, is obviously the work of the devil!
10 years is too soon to be able to replace our fossil fuel infrastructure with another fossil fuel infrastructure just like it, let alone develop entirely new methods and products.
It probably takes on the order of a decade to deploy a single new top-sized coal power plant, if you include site selection, planning, government approvals, etc. as well as actual construction and the infrastructure to tie it in to the grid and deliver fuel. Heck, just the environmental impact studies that the government requires probably tack on 2 years to the project, and that’s if nobody objects to anything.
Oil is used to make plastics, which makes it doubleplusungood.
My wife is on the anti-plastic bit now. I kind of slipped into a discussion on fossil fuels that, when you think about it, plastics are a prime example of not letting anything go to waste, since in the modern day plastics are typically made from the by-products of oil and natural gas refining processes. If plastic wasn’t being made from the stuff it would just have to be disposed of somehow, creating waste.
I’m sorry for that NB. Hopefully she won’t reach the terminal stage where she screeches at supermarket bagboys for following procedure.
The level of irrationality around this (and many other) topic is palpable. My city joined the “ban plastic straws” movement, much to my annoyance. I got in the discussion with a pro-ban knob – she was of the opinion that being against the straw ban was the same as saying “if you can’t fix everything, then don’t do anything”, to which her counter argument was “every little bit helps” and “it is a start”.
Of course my counter argument could be summed up as “nuh-uh!” The US manages to get 98% of its trash into a landfill or recycling facility. Of the remainder, plastic straws amount to near as makes no difference nothing. But this is for “the ocean”, by which they mean the plastic “island” in the great pacific gyre. Of which US waste makes up a negligible amount, and of that negligible amount straws are a negligible amount. But beyond that – here’s the real problem with their passion – I LIVE ON THE ATLANTIC SIDE OF THE CONTINENT! So the possibility that you are saving the pacific from the great garbage patch by banning straws over here is near as makes no difference absolutely zero!
Yeah, she left convinced that I’m an evil tool of the corporate overlords who want to pollute the world.
She’s still at the hobo stage where she carries a bunch of bags around with her. I think it’s really because she’s a hoarder, but whatever. She definitely brings a metal straw with her to places. She does her best to not be obnoxious to retail clerks, so it’s mostly a kind of benign eccentricity so far. I don’t know, I mean, it gives her something to do and keeps her off the streets. If this is her mid-life crisis, it could be much worse.

What is even dumber about this is that the politicians are merely bandwagon jumping on this point. The big oil companies have been rebranding themselves as “energy companies” for quite some time, and spending a ton of money researching alternative energy sources.
They don’t care what kind of energy you use – as long as you buy it from them.
OT: my special needs / autistic son is going to be turning 18 next month. Which means we have to make a whole bunch of changes where we assume guardianship, and he also enters “the system”.
And thanks to the joy of government programs, he has to go on Medicare to get continued services, even though my insurance is much better. Also SSI benefits; though I wonder how much $$$ – if any – he would get if he continues to live with us.
Anyways – just a legal kerfuffle that EF will be handling through one of her associates who does this kind of thing.
LH Jr, is already pretty wealthy thanks to a trust my parents set up. But, again the government, none of it can be directly tied to his name or else it will be confiscated after EF and I die.
Also, since he’s turning 18, I want to do something really special for his birthday. Was thinking of a hot air balloon ride, or a flight on a WW2 plane. Any other ideas?
Also, since he’s turning 18, I want to do something really special for his birthday. Was thinking of a hot air balloon ride, or a flight on a WW2 plane. Any other ideas?
Those things all sound super fun. But call me old fashioned, but I think it might be best if you actually did something with your son on his birthday. But everyone knows how selfish you libertarians are, so I guess do your thing.
Seriously though, good on Jr to become a man (except for drinking, smoking and some other things).
I think that sounds like a splendid idea!
Is he an outdoors-dude? A chartered fishing trip on Lake Michigan could be cool.
Not really a fishing kind of guy – though he’s had some amazing times, partly to his disability.
Like the Detroit Red Wings player who went to the same high school he is enrolled in, and stops by to hang out with the kids. And the special Red Wings seating / VIP package that EF and him went to at the ol’ Joe Louis Arena.
Awesome. My buddy’s kid played adapted hockey. His team got to go out to Chicago and meet and skate with a bunch of the Hawks. He hit it off with Toews, who actually called him to check on how things were going. Amazing.
This is why pro hockey players are the best.
I’ll second that. My dad’s been gone 13 years, and some of the fondest memories I have of him are us sitting on buckets by the side of a creek waiting for catfish to come by. It gives you a lot of time to talk, or not talk, and looking back that’s what I miss the most.
There’s a few river outings we are possibly checking out too.
^This. There are a variety of experiences from canoe float trips to whitewater rafting.
Cool!
Big steelhead in the Brule. Just sayin’.
My wife gave me a biplane ride for my 30th birthday and that was fantastic.
Phrasing?
Euphemism?
Sometimes a biplane ride is just a biplane ride, pervs
All I know is when I join the mile high club, I was hoping it would just be me and the wife. If you liked your time with your wife and Jeff the copilot, more power to you. No judgements here.
Using only one orifice at a time is just wasteful!
Hey Lord, those comments above weren’t meant in a malicious way. I was just making light of the “Saint Syndrome” that seems to take over everyone working in the field when they embark on the career. It happened to me, too.
No problem – it’s tough working with special need kids. I know, with my temper, I couldn’t handle it.
And there are a lot of nasty, “I know everything” people in the field too. But there are some honest to goodness saints who truly are wonderful people. Like the couple down the street who have two adopted girls with Down’s Syndrome, and another adopted “normal” daughter, all while doing the best they can.
I’m guessing he’s a plane buff. Get some high quality model airplanes and do them together?
If I didn’t go to bed with the chickens I would not have missed Tulip’s excellent article last evening. It was custom written for my wife. First article on Glibs she has read and enjoyed very much.
Thank you Tulip.
I keep my Wifey well away from the Glibs. She’s into wholesome things. That way we’re both happy.
Executive privilege is not specified in the Constitution, yet courts have consistently ruled that presidents have the right to withhold certain documents and information from the other branches.
So in other words, it’s “super-precedent”. ///OBL

This calls for a Duffel Blog x Rising Wasabi collaboration. Something like “Japan revealed to still be controlled by US forces as 85 year man is kept locked up at position of attention while nation watches”
Also, love the morning dress, which I assume is the correct day wear for Glibs not touring their mines.
When I feel like being casual and dressing down, yeah
I like the cut if this man’s cloth. Good day sir!
Of, of.
Ouch. Poor guy didn’t see that coming.
+1 That neatly mixes both sites’ humor.
T shirt I saw at SEIYU today. Too bad it’s too small for me.

So, New York’s new Attorney General has loudly and publicly announced that she intends to use her office to go after political enemies. Without even an allegation of a crime – simply “I’m going to dig into everything about Trump and anyone associated with Trump looking for anything I can prosecute.”
Shouldn’t this be grounds for removal from office and disbarment? I’m no expert on the law and the standards of the bar, but I’m pretty sure that “I’m going to do whatever it takes to get this guy because I’m on the other side politically and I don’t care if I don’t have a specific allegation of a crime to look into, I’m gonna find it come hell or high water” is way, way beyond the bounds of what a member of the bar and a state’s attorney general are allowed to do.
But the big thing to note is the response from the media.
No outrage that an AG would use their office for political purposes. No calls for the governor to do something about a prosecutor who is going after people rather than investigating crimes.
Quite the contrary, the coverage from the media has been a resounding “hurrah!” They are ecstatic to have another bite at the apple.
I dunno, but that office has been used solely for shakedowns for decades. My guess is she thinks she’s going to extract millions from the Trump org before her inevitable gov run. Because all the big banks and other Wall Street outfit the previous occupants of the position shook down folded like a cheap suit, so of course Trump Inc. will too.
It should be grounds, but it won’t be.
We’re well into Banana Republic territory now with the full support of the media and the intelligentsia.
Wow.
“We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well,” James, a Democrat, told NBC News in her first extensive interview since she was elected last month.
Under what pretext? And these people have the nerve to call Trump a tyrant.
If I were one of her constituents I’d probably be pissed she’s wasting my tax dollars (But yeah, I know who her constituents are.)
What are the chances that if Guaido pulls off a coup he ends up ordering everyone to wear their underwear outside of their clothing?
“so we can check!”
Well, I laughed, heartily
Even further OT: I represent a guy for a felony who wanted to offer information he has on an 11-year-old murder case (in exchange for a reduction in his current charges).
He went to court to give the testimony yesterday. It’s called an investigative subpoena, the courtroom is closed to outsiders, just the witness/prosecutors/investigators and attorneys. My job was essentially to make sure he didn’t self-incriminate.
He proceeded, for the next hour & 1/2, to lie his butt off about 1/2 of the information he had. This was because he “didn’t want to be the snitch,” according to his other attorney. Prosecutor essentially said “I’m not buying it,” and attempted to close the proceedings, threatened him with perjury, etc. Then he came clean on what he did know, corrected his earlier story. . . then gave some names.
Well, yeah, I wouldn’t have wanted to be the snitch either – there are three rival gangs involved in this, and the wrong person ended up dead, as he just happened to be at the party when the shooting started. So my guy will hopefully switch cells soon . . .and/or get a sweet deal and get out of jail on a super reduced bond (my next job in representing him).
Well, hopefully the other side hasn’t been studying Mueller’s office. Because the way they seem to work on this is to go after increased sentences and prosecute for every detail of any statement that is in error as “lying to investigators”. Oh, and then refer their “source” out to other agencies for prosecution on related matters.
GunGlibs, I’ve got a little disposable cash and the wife has signed off on our family filling the .223 sized hole in our gun locker. I know next to nothing on how to select an AR pattern rifle, and the options out there are dizzying. Where do I get started?
Couple of questions:
What are the price tiers, and which tiers are the sweet spot or spots as far as quality of price?
I am considering a suppressed SBR, but don’t know what that will do to the price or what other functional limitations it will impose.
Does anyone have any good educational materials for me to get started on? I’m not looking to make a purchase right away, I’m looking to get educated first.
Uffda. Leap everyone knows that the rash, knee jerk decision making is the hallmark of gun ownership.
The 2A community has no room for people who take the time to rationally think things through or to “educate” themselves.
Can’t go wrong with an S&W Sport II as an entry-level AR. It’s a well-made, basic platform that you can customize from there, and learn a helluva lot along the way.
I personally wouldn’t do the suppressed SBR due to the paperwork, waiting time and extra cost. Also, you can’t take the SBR out of state without asking “mother may I?” to the ATF. That’s enough to deter me. (NB: If you really want the shorter barrel, you can go the AR pistol route). That’s just me though; you do you.
Armalite also has a good entry-level AR too.
What you are looking for is spelled ‘Mini-14’.
Get one and bring it!
I do have a 223 Thompson Contender but I don’t think that is the answer to your question. I’ll leave your query to those that have the expertise.
SBR +$200 tax stamp
suppressor +$200 tax stamp
you could go with a less comfy “stock” and avoid the tax stamp by getting an AR pistol with pistol brace. (this option will be closed via penphone by the next Dem POTUS).
Silencer Shop has taken a lot of the inconvenience out of suppressor shopping with their ATF form 4 service: https://www.silencershop.com/buy-it-local
there’s so much ground to cover in the AR market. you can browse online at somewhere like grabagun to get a feel for manufacturers and price points. https://grabagun.com/firearms/handguns-for-sale/semi-automatic-handguns-for-sale.html?caliber=2617
tons of info can also be gleaned from the AR15 builders forums online. you can read up on the latest coating for your bolt carrier group, trigger swapouts, etc. it’s dizzying. so dive in, immerse yourself.
with a Dem majority in both houses and a Dem executive, that $200 tax stamp will increase to $500. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/5103/text
here’s a nice primer

Arrived yesterday.
Welp, there goes 250 bucks….
PSA’s the jam, I got an upper kit from them for a song that’s pretty decent.
@Leap: Put me on the AR pistol as opposed to SBR bandwagon. Essentially the same use case but without the paperwork, and you can bet that the next Dem government is going to go full-tilt to ban them. Although there’s a reasonable chance that the concept is so far out there they won’t even know what they are.
Funny you should ask that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_ugTm2wAaY
I filled this hole with a Tavor x95.
It’s a good gun.
Read these. I know both the authors, and they know their stuff.
https://www.activeresponsetraining.net/choosing-and-equipping-your-first-ar-15-rifle
https://www.everydaymarksman.co/equipment/buying-your-first-ar-15/
As cool as they are, I would not do a silenced SBR as a first AR. Short barrels can lead to reliability problems, and silencers can either ameliorate or exacerbate those problems. They will also bump your budget way up.
My problem with Pandora (referenced in the past re: The Onion article that I claim is about me) has a large part to do with my REM comments above. Pandora thinks that if I am skipping 1990s REM that that means I don’t want to hear REM, when it means I want them to throw as much 1980s era REM at me as possible. Same for U2, feel free to play anything from War or Boy but none of that post 1990 shit.
Pandora is too artist based instead of song based.
Like Green was the end of REM for me, The Joshua Tree is the end of U2.
And Metallica ended when they kicked out Mustaine.
Heh – I have the same complaint. I try to get early Fleetwood Mac songs and it keeps giving me Rumors.
Try to get Peter Gabriel era Genesis.
Nah. Metallica ended when Cliff died.
But anyway, that’s why I stopped using Pandora and started using Amazon music so I can just listen to complete albums.
I like the idea of something recommending me stuff I don’t know that I will like, but Pandora isn’t that.
There was one that used the algorithm I would recommend, but it lasted about 5 minutes and got bought out. Forget who it was.
Here is my algorithm:
play me a song or three: I rate them 1-5. Find something with the highest ratings match to me and play me other songs that they rate a 5.
Keep adjusting as I rate each song. At some point it should be well trained to throw me stuff I have never heard that I am going to love.
And every miss is just another training point.
The great thing is this doesn’t have to be seeded at all, I don’t have to tell them anything I like at the beginning, they can just start playing me random stuff and letting me rate it. Sure there will be a huge number of misses at the beginning, but it should hone in soon enough.
Oh I really like some of the songs it recommends. I’ll keep using Pandora because my car has a software interface – I can vote up or down while driving.
Another problem I had with Pandora (this was a few years back, maybe things are different now?) was there was lot of live stuff. I don’t generally care for live stuff. I want to jam to the studio version I know so well. Well, if I skipped a live version, it thought I didn’t like that band.
Same issue as you brought up, I guess. Just a different reason for it.
I don’t like their sense of hyper-promotion and want more deep cuts.
The other issue with Pandora is station bleed. If I’m listening to a Rockabilly station, I don’t want Metal or Punk playing on it. I like Metal and Punk, but I have different stations for them for a reason. Still on free Pandora through T-Mobile, so no commercials allows me to deal with it.
There’s no real deep musical algorithm with Pandora (as they had originally claimed in their marketing) and everyone knows it. It’s purely correlative.
If you have Prime, Amazon Music is the way to go.
Speaking of firearms and rash decision making:
Noor trial is now in the jury’s hands.
Nice closing by the defense:
So I guess you can randomly shoot people and hope that when you pick through their corpse you find anthrax or a bomb and will be a hero.
If there had been a gun in that hand, Mr. Noor would be a hero
No, he’d still be a criminal. A slap sounds nothing like a shot. And police should expect that a homeowner calling 911 is armed. They should also expect that someone holding a weapon is not necessarily a criminal nor do they have license (or shouldn’t) to blow some one away first.
Scott Johnson’s take
I hope the jury recognizes this for what it is. A colossal fuck up and attempted cover up. Noor needs to go to prison.
I might use that defense – “Hey, if he had had a gun and had been threatening me, shooting him would have been okay – so good shoot despite none of those things happening.”
Why hope? Heros take action and plant that evidence.
From Scott Johnson’s ongoing first-person dissection of the trial:
Christ, what an asshole.
OT: TOS’s favorite libertarian Democrat couldn’t get a tax hike to create a slush fund approved by the voters. So, he’s pushing a re-vote. Hey, but he plays video games and stuff. So, who are we to question his libertarian bona fides.
Polis is a socialist fuck stick and just one more of Reason’s embarrassments.

I never want to hear another US teacher complain about their kids again. They think they have it bad? Imagine having to teach a classroom full of Korean grannies.
I can only imagine trying to teach some bossy old Korean halmoni. I’ve been stuck in rooms with these opinionated, stubborn old gals in the past and wondered where rumors of passive, demure asian women came from because it sure wasn’t from them.
Seriously, it is a nice story about old women who couldn’t attend school when they were kids going back now.
Now we know the real reason E from E escaped.
Bu think about all the free food for teacher.
My life in sex: the man who left his wife for his dominatrix
“Respected” is an odd choice of words for two people who bailed on their families for a thrill.
Yeah what the fuck. I can’t take these types of people seriously. Nothing wrong with hedonism but to basically bail after you have kids because the sex is better is a dick move on all accounts.
What an asshole. But whatevs. Let your freak flag fly glad you felt it was worth wrecking your life over. These types of people are selfish though.
My ex-wife told all my friends and family what had happened. I lost my job and I am alienated permanently from my family and most of my friends.
Well, what exactly was she supposed to do? Keep your secret at her own expense? You treated her and your kids as, well, disposable. I see no reason you should be entitled to discretion.
She should have told everyone that he was a furry. “Why are you upset? You told me to make up a reason as to why you abandoned our family.”
So here I am, home from work, kids dropped off at school and I spy from my upstairs window, a fellow slowly walking my fence-line peering into our back yard. The doorbell rings; I tend to disregard uninvited visitors. It rings again. A moment later, the sound of the storm door being tried. I open the front door while leaving storm door locked and the fellow who was looking into my yard is standing on the porch with a look of surprise on his face. I ask him what he wants. He asks me to call an ambulance because he doesn’t feel well and asks if he can come in and sit down. SAY WHAT!?! I fibbed about having the phone shut off due to non-payment because I’m poor and direct him up the block to the district office of my shitty CongressCritter Gregory Meeks and tell him that someone there would be happy to help him out. Instead of having my desperately needed after work nap, I’m having some espresso and cradling my speargun and machete – thanks a whole fucking lot NYC gun laws.
I would told the fucker that I’d call an ambulance right after I beat the shit out of him for casing my property.
Tempting. In real life however, i am very non-confrontational. Also, the thought of responding NYPD pawing through my stuff frightens me somewhat more than a random miscreant.
How about I call the cops and they’ll give you a lift to the hospital?
Cop: *busting down door and shooting l0b0t* I perceived a threat.
The only time I’ve ever had to call the police (New Orleans… sigh) was when I got my face split open in a road rage incident. The second question from the cops, while I’m standing on the front porch bleeding through a bath towel, was asking for permission to search my house for drugs.
Ugh.
I once saw a guy trying to break into someone else’s car across the street. I considered calling the cops for all of about ten seconds before shaking the cobwebs out of my head and coming to my senses.
But, of course, a homeowner answering a suspicious knock with a gun in their hand deserves to be killed, if I recall the lecture from Dunphy correctly.
So, really, those NYC gun laws are for your own good, keeping you from getting justifiably gunned down by anyone who bangs on your door.
Tulpa did most of it, dunphy was really just his fluffer on that thread.

I can barely believe at this point that I waded in that cesspool for ten years.

Man, all these tragedies just happen around cops. They really are the unluckiest SOBs.
Oh good, SF. I hadn’t seen that one in a while. My blood pressure wasn’t high enough this morning.
I work for Big Pharma.

Pope Jimbo branded holy water I hope.
Gah, that brings back memories
Yeah, come on in, you’ll have to stay in the kitchen because I don’t want to get your blood all over my carpeting.
That is why I keep a roll of plastic sheeting in our entry way.

What We Do In The Shadows
No offense intended here, but why the fuck would you open the door to your house, without already knowing who’s on the other side?
A loud, “Who’s out there?” would have been a much better way to proceed…
Random thoughts upon a return from vacation. We drove down I95 from NY to Miami. The Southern states have exits off of the Interstate with with several (sometimes many) dining and fueling options all competing for my business. The Northeast states seem to only have state sponsored Travel Plazas with food and fuel options restricted to whatever cronies shelled out the most. High prices and snarling desultory service seem to be the order of the day in MD, NJ, and NY.
Also, we stayed at a Days Inn in Kenley, NC and booked the very last room available – it was setup for differently abled patrons and might be the nicest cheap motel room I’ve ever had. A full third of the room was taken up by a HUGE very well appointed bathroom with oversized tub, massaging shower-head, and a fancy infrared warming light.
? I’ve seen rest areas up here in between exits that have all usual things you mentioned. But most of my experience is on the Thruway so that might be different, I dunno.
I’m likely just cranky because regular gas went from $2.57 here in NY to $2.34 in Miami but over $3 in NJ (stupid full service laws).
If any of y’all find yourselves in West Palm Beach, there is a 24 hour Cuban joint called Cafe Havana that should not be missed.
Damn. The coup is on. Just saw them run over about a dozen people with a their riot control vehicles.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD0Ze0JJlro
For a second I thought you meant another pre-dawn raid on some aging former Trump confederate.
Just turned it on and saw the vehicle run over all those people. Live stream so I can’t time stamp it. Be very surprised if that didn’t kill some people. How is YouTube showing this? Glad they are, but damn…
I saw what looked like a couple people getting pinned and maybe dragged against a concrete barricade by one of the big water trucks.
Wow. The bootlickers in the live comment stream crying about the US-led coup attempt.
If this works I’m getting Arepas tonight and partying with the ex-pats.
Get a load of this fuckin’ dickhead:

Which is why at least 10% of their population has fled, mostly to . . . latino neighbors.
And, of course, the mass graves we will eventually find.

Well, that’s some unpleasantness.
They’ve got Baghdad Bob out there to downplay what’s happening.
Communications Minister Jorge Rodriguez said a “small group of military traitors” were being confronted in the opposition stronghold of Altamira. Maduro officials also called on the population to surround the Miraflores presidential palace to defend the embattled leader.
Because when the opposition is a small group on the edge of Caracas, you need as many human shields around El Presidente as possible?
Basically.
Sunday was the anniversary of Mussolini’s execution. I’d love to see Madro hanging dead in the center of Caracas for a while.
