The Nationals are on the brink of sweeping the Cardinals. This surprises me, even though it shouldn’t. Also, the Cards have scored 1 run in three games so far in the NLCS. Kinda makes it tough to win when you don’t score. The Packers added to Detroit’s misery last night. And your hockey winners were: Borston, Florida, NYI, Buffalo, Colorado, Chicago, and the MINNESOOOOOOOOOOOOOODA WIIIIIIIIIIIIILD! Ah, it felt good to finally get to say that.
The Roman poet Virgil was born on this day. As were: German philosophizer Friedrich Nietzsche, American boxing champ John L Sullivan, writer P.G. Wodehouse, writer Mario Puzo, automaker Lee Iacocca, filmmaker Penny Marshall, baseball legend Jim Palmer, actress Tanya Roberts, skateboarder Stacy Peralta, chef Emeril Lagasse, and businessman Jack Ma.
OK, on to…the links!
LeBron James is a selfish, arrogant and uneducated assclown. That’s all I got on that.
Michael Bloomberg is keeping his options open. Seriously. This isn’t a joke.
Um….yeah. This isn’t gonna go over well. Also, it can’t have been very fun to watch. Half the fighters wouldn’t have known what was going on. And the other half would have just fallen asleep in the corner.
The Ft Worth cop who shot an unarmed woman in her home for no reason has been charged with murder. In Chicago, he’d have gotten a medal.
Christ, what an asshole. Dude could have driven to a station much closer and cut down on his carbon footprint.
You gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookies numbers. Come on, Mother Nature.
Hunter Biden opens up. And a bag of cocaine probably fell out.
Thanks to a few of the founders, I’m subjecting y’all to the same ear worm they subjected me to yesterday.
That’s it. Have a great day. Go Astros!
Happy birthday to The Walrus. His quote fits today’s DC better than ever:
“That which is ready to fall, shall ye also push!”
I hate being FIRST! You just sit up here looking like an asshole.
Yeah, you kinda do.
Everyone should get a turn.
You would feel better with ass slapping GIF.
It’s Craig Stadler’s birthday?
Shorter LeBron: “You’re costing me money, you stupid bitch.”
What’s with the trend of the biggest idiots in society claiming people who disagree with them are “ignorant”? That wasn’t a thing when I lived there.
We don’t argue or debate anymore. We “word and sentence feud”.
Been that way for awhile. The lefties all tell me I vote against my interests. To them, not voting for Hillary is proof that I’m ignorant.
The problem is that your interests are not aligned to theirs! That’s why they feel you are dumb/evil.
And this is the guy calling someone else “uneducated”.
It’s been a thing since Obama. He would often claim “No reasonable person …..(wouldn’t shut up and get in line with my next progtastic idea).”
I think it’s been a thing for a lot longer, but social media allows for famous people to spread their brain-droppings much more easily.
What a “reasonable person” believes can turn on a dime, of course. Remember how Obama chided Trump before the election about how no serious person could believe the election was rigged? Then his side decided the election must have been rigged.
Situation in this case is China will fuck up our deal if we even think of saying something they don’t like.
Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.
Its gotta mean more than 50 different kinds of cereal at Walmart.
Saw a picture of KK over the week end, there are times for planting and times for harvesting. “Sometimes we don’t even know”
I heard Kuzma lost some sponsorship deal.
Will somebody please think of the thought police?
“Have you seen the protester getting shot point-blank in the chest?”
I saw portions of the BIden interview this morning. He avers that “I’m been thru some really tough stuff.” Yeah…. stuff like kilos of coke and banging your dead brother’s wife. That’s tough man, real tough.
Who hasn’t crashed multiple rental cars and then returned them with white powder all over the dash?
I’m poor. That shit never went to waste.
No kidding. I’d have bought the wreck just for the dash.
“Yes, we do have freedom of speech,” James said. “But…
You can always ignore everything the speaker says before and after the but
We can’t just let people say what they want to say.

Morning !
I should go back to sleep.
And I can’t figure out if LeBron is an idiot, a troll, or being well remunerated by China.
The MLB just stands back and says “Yessss, yessss, keep talking.”
Imma go with A and C.
Morning!
I don’t think he’s trolling…
You’re alone? In a huge bed? Yes, sleep.
Sleep is hard to come by sometimes!!
LeBron didn’t go to school for free due to academic reasons…
I would go with scumbag or piece of trash and leave it at that.
Yes.
Is there a PO Box where I can send him a few books on the Cultural Revolution?
There is no trolling to that.
I could respect trolling, but that was just sad.
Shorter China: Nice heart and lungs you got yourself there, LeBron. Be a shame if something were to happen to them…
Though the report doesn’t name the staff members, the Winston-Salem Journal identifies them as Taneshia Deshawn Jordan, Tonacia Yvonne Tyson and Marilyn Latish McKey.
Way to stereotype, guys.
Burn them at the stake.
McKey
The Irish are always drunk or fighting, usually both.
Bloomberg is too short. The modern President is always over 6′
Rand Paul haz a sad…
And zombie Ross Perot pulls out a stack of charts to show why it shouldn’t matter.
If he’d stood on those stacks, he might have been President.
He thought the cops were ask him if he can prove he committed the murders?
“I’d like to confess to a crime.”
“Can you prove you did it?”
Sounds like this ex officer may be getting hung out to dry by the sound of these sentences. Normally the Fraternal Order would be out to obfuscate as much as possible.
He must be such an asshole that even his brothers hate him.
Once again, don’t call the cops.
Can the neighbor sue the department for swatting?
Holy shit! Who the hell does that? What, you can’t walk your own lazy ass over there and knock and see if she’s OK?
That’s ridiculous.
At least send a text if you are on speaking terms.
I can’t blame him for not cooperating though. Nobody should ever cooperate with an investigation.
A cop knows not to cooperate with an investigation against you.
It’s just not called out in an article like that. That’s the peculiar part.
“He has not been cooperating with investigators in the case, Kraus said.”
He knows the system, cooperation is a dominated strategy.
While the fort Worth cop is more egregious than the guyger shooting, I’m worried that murder will get him off.
Also since he resigned will the FoP chime in still?
I’d like to think that Texas frowns upon killing innocent people in their own homes, regardless of the clothes the perp wears, but maybe that’s a bit rose colored?
“Texas” is an overbroad statement. There’s neighborhoods that have million dollar houses, and neighborhoods where restaurants have to permanently post a security guard in the parking lot to prevent car theft and muggings. As someone said to me in Houston, “Y’all up in Austin are a bunch of Boy Scouts compared to Houston.”
But, this was incredibly egregious … the speed with which the cop “resigned” and became an ex-cop means the defense lawyer(s) is gonna have their work cut out for them.
I think it already did. IFYKWIM
In Texas, the charge is always murder when you took a life. The jury will have the option of finding him guilty of involuntary manslaughter. But second degree murder seems like a no-brainer conviction based on the bodycam footage alone.
“In Chicago, he’d have gotten a medal.”
Not anymore. Obama’s hatchet man is not mayor now.
The actions of the police department would have been a lot different, though.
Tard Tuesday: Much Brave
Because people who watch a channel on a regular basis need the number written down…
Or the people who don’t want to watch that channel will know which number not to go to
BAN CHANNEL GUIDES
Yeah, that’s something of a trend. A proggie woman I know went on a tear last year because [gasp] her car dealership had Fox News Channel on the waiting room tv. She complained, apparently loudly. They really are trying to shut down any speech with viewpoints different from their own.
I am trying to picture an Auto Shop run by Pajama Boy.
As they say ’round these parts, “That sumbitch couldn’t fix a sandwich!”
The lack of sex in an emergency vehicle makes this anticlimactic.
As for these, I’ve seen lots of these “I did something passive aggressive” letters, usually focused around Fox news etc. 2 things strike me: that she doesn’t see CNN as propoganda, and that she is clearly ok with trying to control other people’s thoughts, as long as she can rationalize it away.
Shit that never happened, etc. etc.
CNN and MSDNC are, of course, center of the road, fact oriented networks.
Tard Tuesday: Not Killing Is Killing
The brown people who were dying when Obama started this war don’t count as real people.
We are killing men, women, children and journalists
We.
Collectivism is a bitch.
That sentence also implies journalists aren’t people.
What’s this “we” shit, Kemosabe?
You are paying for it.
And in that vein, every taxpayer in America should be investigated for having funded terrorism….
They really do live in an alt-universe. So not going to war is ‘enriching his billionaire friends?
I thought starting wars did that. Like, you know, Hilary and Obama. That guy can’t possibly believe what they did in Libya wasn’t a human catastrophe. Libyans are brown people too right? I don’t do progressive racist labeling charts.
This fuckhead should quit his job, fly to Syria, and grab a rifle. Trump even said he was cool with people doing that.
But it’s not really about defending the Kurds, is it?
Full Disclosure – I am one of those utopian dreamers who pine for a future Levant that is a trading powerhouse divided amongst Eretz Yisrael, Greater Kurdistan, and Persia Major.
That said, are these “Kurdish allies” the same folk who work to foment Maoist revolution when they aren’t fighting the fallout of Western proxy armies?
Yeah, the Syrian Kurds “we abandoned” are the Marxist terrorists ones.
An Iron Crusade to restore the Holy Land! Let us sweep the Mohammadans East and South From the Balkans to the Khyber, From the Black Sea to the Red!
Brown people and journalists, the people he hates most.
Uh huh…
He is doing this once more to line his pockets.
Um…how does that work exactly?
Hunter Biden also says he failed to take into account potential implications for his father’s political career.
Didn’t think pops was all there mentally to make a run, eh?
Now that you mention it… Gee yeah I guess that could look untoward.
Hunter strikes me as the type that never thinks past the tip of his cod or nose.
He is absolutely unsympathetic in person. I know they didn’t have much of a choice, but granting that interview was a mistake.
Hunter Biden looks just like Junior Justice in “Smokey and the Bandit”.
When we get home, remind me to slap the shot out of your Momma
Tard Tuesday: Involuntary Transactions Are All The Rage
Obviously someone who has never heard the words “overhead” or “payroll” in their entire life. All of my bosses have paid me from that magical money tree in the back yard.
I still don’t know what a living wage is supposed to mean to these people. I’ve lived off a large sack of potatoes, a couple loaves of bread and little to no heat in a shitty, leaky apartment for months while working a shit job at one point in my life. Still had running water, a roof over my head, and was nowhere close to dying, just uncomfortable. Completely an environment of my own making, my employer’s greed or lack of it had nothing to do with the matter.
Bag of apples and coffee for two weeks when I was laid off while going to school. Too proud to ask for help. The water ran and the lights were on but that was a hungry time.
It just blows my mind that people think living a comfortable middle class existence is the starting point, not the final destination after years of hard work.
You lived like Rocky Balboa?
Kinda, but that was because I was a drug addict back then. Poor financial decisions and a complete breakdown in discipline. Nobody to blame for that but myself.
What did you do with the chickens after you caught them, Rocky?
I had a chum in college who once decided that he was going live off of a 50lb sack of potatoes so as to devote more of his capital to the drinking arts. {Little Opie Cunningham narrates – “It lasted about 2 weeks… It didn’t end well.”}
He ran outta booze and used the remaining potatoes to make homemade vodka?
So… when making beer, you can use any starch you want (as long as you have enough enzymes to convert it through other ingredients). I had a couple of friends who decided to make a collaboration beer, one person bringing the fermentables, another doing the hops, and the third doing the yeasts (all without communication). The person bringing the fermentables brought sliced potatoes as one of his ingredients (as well as 6-row).
The beer did not turn out well.
Fascinating. Why was it a bust? Did the potatoes bring an unwelcome flavor to the game? Goes back to pondering the dark future where we’re all in the camps and scrounging for fungus to ferment.
l0b0t: The main reason was the lack of communication as to the components. If you use hops for an IPA, the grain bill for a porter, and the yeast for a saison, you’re going to get a non-harmonious beer. The other is that the grain bill was mostly thrown together by things that “sounded interesting”. I’ve mainly stuck with standard adjuncts in my beers (corn, wheat, rye, oats), with the closest to an experiment I did being flour. The flour was used after reading Brew Like a Monk, where they mentioned that several of the Belgian breweries used flour as a cheap way to up the fermentables in their beers. Unfortunately, I loaned my copy of the book out, so I can’t look up which ones now, but I seem to remember Duval being one of them.
He lost an unhealthy amount of weight and damn near got Scurvy. The human body is, apparently, not well-calibrated for an all starch/simple sugar diet.
No such thing as an essential carbohydrate. The human body does, however, need essential fatty and amino acids, which can only be obtained from protein and fats.
The NBA and its merry band of noted faux scholars and all around insufferable and arrogant jack asses have dug a hole too deep to get out of. They’re firmly in a Chinese blow bang.
Watch. Once all this settles Kerr and Popovich will go back to bashing Trump like the little cowards they are while the league will put out SJW propaganda about how bad America is.
It’s amazing how they can ignore the long history of human rights abuses across the board in one country for money, but the country to which they belong and provides them with a life they could never dream of anywhere else in the world, they incessantly criticize to the point of being troubling. Where China gets not a stick of criticism for their behaviour, America is endlessly bashed for not keeping up with its own lofty standards as if it’s hypocritical. How dare you not keep up with progressive demands on the spot!?
What these selfish morons don’t get is when you constantly rail like they do against Trump, you’re railing against at least half the population. How is that not divisive?
The irony of Lebron’s unbelievable comment is a) it’s ignorant itself and b) Morey went to MIT. I’m pretty sure he didn’t vote for Trump too.
All because he dared declare support for Hong Kong.
Breathtaking stuff that the NBA went against that.
Someone should ask him if he thinks if China is racist
I think I brought this up. That’s another little nugget not spoken about. You want racism? Yeh, go to China. American racism is paradise next to that country.
But don’t expect Mr. King Ignoramus to utter a single word. Better to make up racist ‘nigger graffiti’ hoaxes and then make a stink about it right in America.
Messed up values these people have.
And Apple and Nike are no better. That Tim Cook is a gutless puke. Nike has shown a corporation only chases profit – as it ought to. But once it delves into all this SJW nonsense they’re bound to slip and be hypocritical. You can’t have Kaepernick and claim you should ‘do something even if it means sacrificing everything’ and then turn around and pull out Houston Rockets gear because a bully communist regime is crushing a segment of its population where people are sacrificing far more than Phil Nike ever will or that idiot Kaepernick.
Mind you, he did lose his job but I think he believed he could have his cake and eat it too. That wasn’t in the plan. He made sure to keep the money flowing so his ‘sacrifice’ was limited.
Everyone’s an asshole on this.
I can just imagine Nick Wright’s take on this. Or Frank Isola. Or Jackie MacMullan. Or anyone who depends on the NBA’s success to feed their careers.

Meh, Apple is hardly alone here. It is the price of doing business with China, period.
Hey Rufus! I see that you went PPC. They’re pushing hard in my riding if the sign wars are any indication (their signs are plunked in with the Tories and they ignore the socialists entirely, same colour scheme and everything). The northern part of the riding is Oil and Gas dependent but I’m leery of splitting the vote in such a close election. Their candidate has no name recognition but they seem to be pulling out all the stops trying to gain a foot-hold here.
I hope the NDP and Green steal from the Progressive party (aka Liberal) to offset whatever the People’s party takes from the Conservatives.
RRE: NBA. I want to ask how this is different than NFL and Kapernik kneeling. I remember quite a few here being upset that he dared kneel and that the NFL should suspended him. Hell I argued that they had a right to, especially as it was loosing them money.
How is what different? How is a guy being thrown under a bus for a tweet because the Chinese government must be placated?
Kapernick was thrown under the bus Because what he was doing was unpopular and costing the NBA money.
I honestly did not care about Kapernick . But repeatedly kneeling is different than a twee. What he was protesting was different than what China is doing. I do not remember if Tom Brady called him uneducated at the time, but if he did I would not have supported that statement.
Had the NFL supported Kaepernick and invited everyone to kneel and played to his demands, then it would have gotten closer to what the NBA did. The NFL fan is different from the NBA fan.
What’s an NBA fan?
Keeper nick was never thrown under the bus. He terminated his contract because he thought he could cash in and nobody in the league wanted home because they’d have had to revamp their entire offensive scheme. Nobody was willing g to do that and the fee contract offers he got behind the scenes were for backup money. He turned them down.
Well, he could’ve signed with the Ravens but his girlfriend ended that quick with her Ray Lewis House Negro tweet.
Kaepernick couldn’t compete anymore as a quarterback in the NFL. That was the root cause of his underbussing.
The league is in their rights (assuming there’s nothing in the contracts against it) to censor, ban, and penalize owners and players. Blizzard is in their rights (based on the no politics words buried in the terms of service for Hearthstone).
Everyone else is well within their rights to call them out for hypocritical behavior, and think less of the organizations/companies as a result.
No one would have said boo had the NBA not been so invalided on SJW causes. They made a stink for transgender bathrooms FFS.
But a country that murders people to ‘manage’ its affairs? And to even go as far as to distance themselves from one of their own and even try isolate him?
That’s where the reaction lies.
I’ve said enough. It’s years I don’t like the NBA and the clowns in that league.
The NHL is superior. Full stop. A sport and league that enforces a suit dress code is a league that keeps its shit together.
Yeah I know, so why am I (we?) More outraged over the NBA handling and not so much the NFL?
If I had to guess, it’s because we have a lot more sympathy for the protestors in Hong Kong (who are risking a lot), then for the cops. Add to that the people who are getting punished in the NBA/Blizzard are people cheering for more freedom, which is rare enough in this world of ours.
The NBA thing is really bad where hypocrisy is concerned. The Kap thing was tempered a little by the fact it was his right to do so – even if it was wrong-headed and on company time. The NBA academics keep scaling and lecturing its fans and American about equality, rights, and all that jazz and then turns around and supports one of the worst regimes on the planet that goes against those very values they claim to champion.
That’s why.
I wonder how long before they start to spin things and claim the people criticizing them are racist extremist and pull a ‘See? This is Trump’s America!’
Kerr tried to go the false equivalency route so I do expect some doubling down soon.
For sure, i think the Hypocrisy does a lot to demonstrate that they aren’t “Brave” and that they will only take opinions that they feel are safe. And to be fair to myself (and others) i do think this hypocrisy is a big part of why I’m upset. But i think Neph is right too, that in part it is because i’m upset by the quickness “American” companies are to squish people cheering on freedom, in the name of appeasing a Chinese Overlord. And that bothers me a bit, because i think change for more freedom (like police reform) would be more likely to happen than a free Hong Kong, and i really ought to care about local over more distant. . In other words, perhaps i should have been more outraged at how Kapernick was being treated.
But i agree, i think the Hypocrisy of people calling Trump an authoritarian racist, and then shying away from calling out a brutal government that is suppressing any attempts at gaining more liberty, is egregious.
The kneeling didn’t really bother me. Cops do shoot people willy nilly. If Kapernik had managed to stop the cops from shooting black people, I doubt they would have made up for it by shooting more white people. He can shove his views on Cuban communism up his ass, though.
My main issue with Kapernik is that, as far as my limited understanding of NFL goes, he was a marginal player at best and it seemed to me he was well on his way to becoming irrelevant so found some nice social signaling to give him some fame. That being said, I do not remember any government threatening to ban NFL games if Kapernik is not suspended.
I do think the governmental aspect of it is important, my main point was my reaction to his treatment. I was very laywerish about it. “well Kapernick certainly can say what he wants, but the NFL also has a right to dictate a little when he’s on the job”. The NBA also has a right to do so. What Kapernick was protesting (police brutality) is also an important subject and hits closer to home than a free Hong Kong.
I was not someone who thought Kapernic was wrong. I thought the NFL should let him do what he wanted, but i wasn’t upset when he was sidelined.
I’m just trying to figure out if my outrage has any rational reason, or if it is purely emotional. I know there are certainly emotions wrapped up in it, but i feel like there is something rational in there that makes my outrage at one vs the other somewhat sensible, but i’m not sure where it is.
He was never sidelined by the NFL though. Or his team.
All that happened is that middle America was pissed off and started tuning out of the NFL. And Trump made a thing of it.
I think the cause was irritating to some people.
This is the time that the Democratic Convention consisted of — on day one — putting up 8 black victims of gun crime (probably at least half of whom weren’t actual victims) and making police on black kids violence one of their cornerstone causes. I think this cost them, actually. You could see that they were playing identity politics by how arbitrarily these kids were selected.
Further, it’s not PC to point this out but it doesn’t take a genius to note that young, black male violence one of the biggest social problems in America today. Control for that problem demographic and basically the U.S. has Western Europe’s crime rates.
It’s just grating to people.

not clear how i did that.
Skwerlz.
How much of what the Houston GM did was during official league/team functions? Kaepernick’s kneeling was at a game.
I’ve long argued we shouldn’t play the national anthem before sporting events, and have gotten criticized for it from both the right and left. Kaepernick does it and gets praised because he’s pissing off the right people. And similar to gay marriage, the people doing the praising act as if they’ve been at the forefront of the debate all along.
Here’s my one-line solution to any “debate” about sports, whether it’s about the national anthem, tranny athletes, or in-game political protests:
If it’s put on by a private sporting organization, that organization should decide, and if it’s government-run, it shouldn’t exist in the first place because sporting events are not a legitimate function of governments.
I do not know who Harold Bloom was but apparently he has died. Some sort of literary critic.

I will have to write something up on this….
Please do. Those windmills aren’t going to tilt at themselves, you know.

Good morning, Sloop! And a good morning to the rest of you Good People!
Thanks to Canuck Thanksgiving, the Wild game was on at noon yesterday. I listened to it and watched some of the replay last night.
Boooooooooring. A win is a win, of course, but tonight they get to go to Toronto. I’m less than optimistic.
Way more optimistic about another trigger-happy asshole being charged with murder. INAL, but given the circumstances, this doesn’t appear to be overcharging to get the whole thing tossed. We’ll see, I guess.
Really sorry about the earworm. That’s a tough one, but maybe another Scottish band will help kill it.
Make it a great day, y’all!
You would think a moment to wish Canglibs a Happy Eat Turkey would have been in the works. But noooooooo. Everyone had to go ugly American on them.
I’m a muppet so it don’t matter to me. We don’t celebrate anything deep. We just party like hedonists and libertines.
“We just party like hedonists and libertines.”
Well, I guess that explains why you can fit an entire hand up there.
Heh. I thought Nazareth or Slade. I was wrong. I am a few years older than you, though.
For you, old man!
Great fucking song.
I’ve mentioned before, my very first vinyl purchase when I was eleven was “Slade Alive”. Soft spot for those guys. Thx Tundra!
Tackle football is like smoking – the longer you do it, the greater the danger.
“Comments are turned off”
Nope. Just nope.
^^^^THIS^^^^
Well I started smoking before I started playing football and I’m just fine! Except for the morning coughing and lifelong impairment and injuries that seem to be coming back to haunt me forty years later. I was an out of control football player and should really quit smoking.
Full disclosure: I know the agency/people who made this. One of them — their father was a football player who had severe complications from CTE. Ditching the smoking angle, having kids play flag football longer is probably a good idea.
My suggestion to changing the game is to change the pad levels and helmets to make hitting with the head a terrible idea.
Wow were the Lions jobbed or what last night?
I was actually pissed off I watched that bull shit to the end only to feel robbed. That terrible call literally gave the game to GB.
Nothing like investing time only to shut the the TV and feel like the league just spat in you face.
They made up for that crappy hand to the face call by making it again when it hurt even more.
Right?
It did feel like “OMG the Lions actually stopped them…quick, flag SOMETHING!!!!”
It was pretty bad.
Reffing is somehow worse than last year
It really shouldn’t be that hard to devise a system with current technology to get the calls right.
I would say the best location for any tech to make calls is in baseball for strikes and balls. I wouldn’t be surprised to know that someone out there has already designed a system, and is running as much footage through it as he can to come up with some stat for home plate umpires.
MLB is already testing robot umpires in the minors
The Lions were gifted a TD.
Dallas/Jets last drive was egregious. Dallas was down 24-16 and needed a TD and a 2 point conversion to tie and there were like 3 straight Jets penalties to lead them down the field to score. I was shocked there was not a call on the 2 pt attempt so the Cowboys would have another shot.
Jefferson was playing video games with her nephew early Saturday morning when a neighbor noticed the front door of the house was ajar. Concerned, the neighbor called the Fort Worth police department’s non-emergency line to request a wellness check.
So it’s assholes all around. Why the fuck didn’t you just call your neighbor? And why the fuck did the cop have his finger on the trigger? And why the fuck didn’t they just knock on the door and announce themselves?
Safety dude, safety….
Speaking of not commercially viable
Harley-Davidson has halted production of its first electric motorbike after finding a glitch in its charging system.
The company began shipping the £28,995 105-horsepower LiveWire bikes to dealers in the US last month.
It says existing bikes are safe but must be charged at dealerships, which will take an hour, rather than using the lower-voltage outlets in homes.
Harley-Davidson told Reuters it had discovered a “non-standard condition”.
Once fully charged, the bike can travel 146 miles at low-speed.
——-
Last week, UK company Dyson announced it was scrapping a project to develop an electric car.
Despite initial plans to invest more than £2bn in the vehicle, the product was “not commercially viable”, it said.
Who wouldn’t want an electric Harley Davidson?
Lol. Isn’t the whole point of a Harley to be all loud and rumbly? “Loud pipes save lives” and all that?
It’s their new line. The David Hogg.

To me, they’re just motorcycles, I’ve never understood the bro thing or the lifestyle aspects. They’re actually pretty good motorcycles.
I’m curious as to your thoughts about electric motorcycles? In my (wholly uninformed on this subject) mind, the electric motor (1 on each wheel) would seem ideal for a 2 wheeled platform if the happy medium could be found with regards to storage battery weight.
It could be good for a dirt bike, except the batteries are crazy heavy. Two wheel drive with instant torque has some appeal. Electric vehicles in general are not a good plan. Charge time alone is a DQ. Then there’s weight. A tesla weighs more than most SUV s. Then there the fact that they still burn stuff for fuel, you just can’t see it. It’s a fantasy for greenies. Then, there battery disposal. Many reasons to not use them. Harley is pandering.
From a manufacturer’s standpoint, there are upsides. Way less warranty and simple assembly. The batteries and power plant are somebody else’s problem.
Thank you very much. We use electric lifts and pallet-jacks at work; the recharge time is no joke. Tangentially related – My Army barracks was next to the Artillery Scouts’ and they all had these fantastic Army issue dirt-bikes that were damn near silent unless you were within arm’s reach of them. Is such a thing available on the commercial market?
Battery disposal is a much more significant issue than a lot of these folks want to admit. We owned a Highlander Hybrid, and the battery in that sucker was pretty big and pretty heavy. Toxic as hell, too, so it’s not like you can just dump them in the garbage or stash it in your shed and forget about it.
Perhaps something like this. They sell it with a different paint scheme as the “FX”.
If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand.
Sorry, that’s what I like to call a “bro-ism” it’s an inside joke.
How many speakers does it have to make sure it’s got the annoying Harley sound?
Gay.
A man drove 200 miles to a California police department on Monday and told officers he killed four people — including one whose body he stashed in his car, authorities said.
Curious road trip. But at least he confessed.
Maybe he was trying to get away and then his conscience took over?
Hi, all. I’ve been hearing a lot of unhinged freakouts about Trump pulling US troops out of Syria and effectively murdering every Kurd in existence twice, but a cynical part of me suspects that these people are really just upset about Trump wiping his ass with the remaining shreds of Obama’s legacy. Is there a reeducation center I should report to so my privilege can be checked?
Just say three Hail Hillarys and give a small donation to the DNC for absolution my son.
The funny thing is how amazingly similar every one of those was to the excuses for not getting out of Vietnam. I mean, word for word the same.
And uttered totally unironically by people who were protesting the Vietnam War.
Yeah, those fifty or so “advisors” were the only thing holding back Erdogan. CBC has been birthing kittens over it for the last few days.
I mean… Technically yes they were, but only because of the ramifications of the Turks fighting US troops, not because they couldn’t have over run them.
That’s different man because reasons.
There will always be “victims” when you end a military action. Weigh the number of victims by leaving with the number of victims by staying involved. It’s not rocket science. Uh, well, it is, but you get the point.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think someone here more talented than me could do a great satire of formerly wealthy DC/NoVa defense contractor swamp creatures reduced to hobos by noninterventionist foreign policy.
Which is why we should be much, much more discerning about when to use our shooty toys in the first place, but of course none of the eminently serious adults who write op-eds ever consider that angle.
Against all historical evidence to the contrary, every potential US military involvement is going to turn out decisively and great.
So I’m not sure what your objection is.
We’ll be greeted with roses!

I have beer and booze in my basement you’re welcome to. You are welcome to bring your own firearms.
As someone who is at ground zero of some of those flare-ups, the issue is that OrangeManBad. Donald Trump could issue an executive order funding reparations for slavery and banning private ownership of firearms and these people would accuse him of abusing the power of the office to buy black votes and suddenly discover the merits of the Constitution.

Yeah, sure…

The mob is not appeased
Facebook is under scrutiny as #DeleteFacebook has become a trending topic once again in the wake of reports of the social media platform’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg having off-the-record dinners with conservatives.
According to Politico, the dinners began in July and were an attempt to connect with the right after Donald Trump said that Facebook had a bias against conservatives. From Zuckerberg’s actions, many suspect that these dinners are to cater to Trump’s White House. The political news site said a source said that the dinners have been focused on “free expression, unfair treatment of conservatives, the appeals process for real or perceived unfair treatment, fact checking, partnerships and privacy.”
“There’s some press today discussing dinners I’ve had with conservative politicians, media and thinkers,” said Zuckerberg in a post on Facebook. “To be clear, I have dinners with lots of people across the spectrum on lots of different issues all the time. Meeting new people and hearing from a wide range of viewpoints is part of learning. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do!”
When the news of these off-the-record dinners with conservatives came out, Zuckerberg was criticized by many people on the left — mainly because of Facebook’s history with last year’s Cambridge Analytica revelations and the Trump presidential campaign. That said, the #DeleteFacebook hashtag resurfaced and many chimed in on the matter — including actress Yvette Nicole Brown and producer Gale Anne Hurd.
“I stopped actively posting on @Facebook in 2016 after it was revealed that it helped elect the orange fecal smear,” tweeted Brown. “Now #DeleteFacebook seems like the best course of action. Yes, I’m still on IG but I feel it does less to push the trump agenda. Less older white supremacists.”
Hurd tweeted: “Until regulation happens, which is unlikely, I’m suggesting we #DeleteFacebook.”
Zuckerberg and Ellen aren’t towing the lion very well.
I mean, seriously, how can you possibly forgive a person for having dinner and “dialog” with your ideological enemies? If your hate is not all-consuming, you’re a traitor.
There are so many more good reasons to #deletefacebook than Zuck talking with people who badthink.
Yep. I deleted my account because I saw that site bring out the worst in people, including myself. It wasn’t good for my mental health and letting it go was the smart move in that department. The way they ran their business was just an added incentive to leave, not the cause.
‘Hurd tweeted: “Until regulation happens, which is unlikely, I’m suggesting we #DeleteFacebook.”’
Wut? Until we get government enacted legislation to curb stomp business leaders if they dare have private dinners with the wrong people on their own time, boycott? Does this person understand what they’re suggesting? What a stupid, dangerous thing to say.
I was thinking that he was stupid, but i actually reconsidered. Parts of the left have gone full authoritarian. Obama was supposed to have ushered in 1000 years of liberal control in america. They had won. But then Trump was elected and those ideas where shattered. Now they have gone to arguing that: Your guns should be taken away, People should be punished for non approved religious beliefs, any political idea that is unfavored should be regulated away, that freedom of speech is dangerous, etc.
I think some of them understand what they are saying, but still believe that they will be on the happy side of the firing line rather than against the wall.
I believe “cunte” is the word you’re looking for.

+1 Attack ship on fire off the shoulder of Orion
Man is this a treasure trove of idiocy, but the main theme i get is that a person’s politics is the defining attribute in identity politics. So as much as they talk about Intersectionality, the only charactersitic the left cares about is weather you are willing to push their agenda or not. And not only that, but treating anyone else from the otherside as worthwhile is absolutely a crime against the collective.
For example:
Because facebook doesn’t stop all conservative speach, they are then actively promoting that speach. This is just another version of “Not taking is giving”, in this case “Not banning is approval”.
“Until regulation happens, which is unlikely, I’m suggesting we #DeleteFacebook.”
Cosmic Karma would require that any person who calls for more regulation, has their life destroyed by regulation. Anywho, this call is particularly chilling. A recurring theme from the left over this past election cycle is the dropping of the mask. They no longer are trying to be tolerant, they are actively calling for guarenteed civil liberties to be infringed, particularly over political/ideological lines. This guy want’s conservative speech and thought to be punished.
Who would have thunk America’s commie authoritarians would have been Maoist?

Police Keep Antifa Away From Columbus Statues By Taping Job Applications Onto Them
“It’s working extremely well so far. These Antifa thugs won’t go anywhere near an opportunity for gainful employment,” Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck told reporters. “We urge other American cities: if you want to protect your statues of Columbus, just head to the nearest McDonald’s or Walmart and ask for a stack of job applications. Get some tape and stick them all over the statue, and you can pretty much just go about your day at that point.”
“Job applications are Antifa’s kryptonite,” he added.
At publishing time, Beck confirmed that “Help Wanted” signs, American flags, gendered bathroom signs, and notes from their mothers informing them that it’s time to grow up and get their own place should have a similar paralyzing effect on the ruthless Antifa mobs.

Something something foreseeable consequences
Two years ago, Target (TGT) said it would raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour by the end of 2020. The move won praise from labor advocates and put pressure on other companies to also move to $15.
But some store workers say the wage increases are not helping because their hours are falling, making it difficult to keep their health insurance and in some cases to pay their bills.
CNN Business interviewed 23 current and former Target employees in recent months, including department managers, who say hours have been scaled back even as Target has increased starting wages. Many of these workers say the cuts, which come as Target’s business is in its strongest position in more than a decade, have hurt them financially. CNN Business agreed to withhold the last names of several of the current employees and the city where their store is located so they could speak freely.
“I got that dollar raise but I’m getting $200 less in my paycheck,” said one, Heather, who started in November at a Florida store working around 40 hours a week. She’s now below 20 some weeks, she said. “I have no idea how I’m going to pay rent or buy food.”
Ask her if she wants another raise?
She has 20 hours a week freed up now to look for another job.
Isn’t there an Iron Law about foreseeable consequences?

This is what scares me. These assholes are gonna price me out of my gig before long because I reached a hand-shake deal with my employer when he took control of my contracts a few years ago. He’d continue to pay me the same rate but I have to pretend to work the full eight hours. Basically a day-rate and the union would set their hair on fire if they knew about it the side deal. In the summer I can whip through my locations in about four hours and in the winter if I really push, six. Someone is going to start looking at the bottom line and wonder why one guy is getting paid twice what everyone else is for working half the hours. Fuck them, I give’er.
It’s the greedy one percent. We should take the CEO out for this reprehensible behavior.

Vanity Fair is on Zuck’s case, too
But the meetings may also be one of a full suite of strategies the company is undertaking to defend itself against the ongoing governmental investigations into Facebook—including the broader tech antitrust probe (and a potential Facebook-specific investigation) being led by Trump’s trusty Attorney General William Barr. “The discussion in Silicon Valley is that Zuckerberg is very concerned about the Justice Department, under Bill Barr, bringing an enforcement action to break up the company,” a cybersecurity researcher and former government official based in Silicon Valley told Politico. “So the fear is that Zuckerberg is trying to appease the Trump administration by not cracking down on right-wing propaganda.” (A senior Trump administration official told Politico in response to the dinners that “the White House is looking for meaningful steps from Facebook on a number of fronts,” such as “competition, free speech for everybody including conservatives, and privacy,” and that “nominal outreach won’t cut it.”)
——-
Facebook hit back against Warren’s criticism in a tweet Saturday, pointing out that broadcasters had also aired Trump’s anti-impeachment messaging. “FCC doesn’t want broadcast companies censoring candidates’ speech,” the company’s official newsroom account wrote. “We agree it’s better to let voters—not companies—decide.” But the Washington Post reports that the Democratic National Committee is “agoniz[ing]” over the potential impact of Facebook’s ad policy, which has even drawn the ire of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes. “I have a feeling that many people in tech will see Warren’s thread implying FB empowers Trump over Warren as unfair,” Hughes tweeted. “But Mark, by deciding to allow outright lies in political ads to travel on Facebook, is embracing the philosophy behind Trumpism and thereby tipping the scales.” The news that Zuckerberg isn’t just allowing conservative views on his platform, but is actively courting them in his dining room, ensures that the growing criticism that the Facebook CEO is “tipping the scales” likely isn’t dying down anytime soon.
That Zuckerberg guy is a straight up Nazi, I guess.

WeWork reportedly expected to lay off 2,000 workers as early as this week
I’m curious as to why people thought Weworks was a brilliant idea. They specialize in making office spaces that employees generally hate.
WeWorks lassoed the idea that the average intelligence of Americans is 100 and went fishing for the the people in the 105-110 range so that they in turn would corral the even dumber ones.
Lol, I saw them advertising for a lawyer position recently. Nope!
What I really want to know is why so many people keep referring to them as a tech company.
I don’t even know what the fuck they do.
Good news, everyone!
For some Democrats, it’s the dream that won’t die: former First Lady Michelle Obama swooping in late to the 2020 primaries to secure the party’s presidential nomination at the next election and doing battle with President Donald Trump.
Obama has ruled out multiple times standing in the 2020 race, saying she does not want to be president. But a new poll shows that in New Hampshire, at least, she could win the state’s primary and lead her nearest rivals by six points four months ahead of February’s vote.
The FPU-Boston Herald telephone poll of 422 likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire found that Obama would be in the lead on 26 percent if she entered the contest now.
——-
Obama, whose husband Barack Obama was president from 2009 to 2017, would drain seven points of support from Sanders and four points from both Warren and Biden.
The former first lady, who currently focuses on campaigning for democratic participation and championing young girls, did not respond immediately to Newsweek’s request for comment.
Back in March, Obama said on Conan O’Brien’s podcast that she would not run for president partly because she could not “learn about the real world” anymore after losing her anonymity. “Eight years is enough. It is enough,” she said. “We need fresh, real, clear eyes in this stuff.”
I want to know how Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny poll, next.
And I believe her when she says she just wants her anonymity back. “We want to go back to being ‘jes’ folks’. That what we want.”

I love a happy story like some Antifa piece of shit getting run over by one of his comrades.
“The two dudes kept telling their friend to get up and walk, but he wasn’t moving,” Perez said.
The two people picked up the man, according to Perez, and started dragging him across the street, creating a trail of blood behind them.
i’m sure they were keeping his neck and spine aligned.

NEEDZ MOAR BLACKOUTS
Power lines are suspected to have been involved in a major wildfire that led to evacuation orders for 100,000 people and was blamed for two deaths in Los Angeles County last week, authorities said Monday.
The Saddleridge Fire ignited in a 50- by 70-foot area beneath a high voltage transmission tower on Thursday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said late Monday afternoon. Other parts of Southern California were under rolling power blackouts to prevent fires sparked by power lines at the time.
The cause of the fire remained undetermined, fire investigators said, but the electric utility serving the area, Southern California Edison, or SCE, confirmed to NBC News that it filed a notice with state regulators on Friday reporting that “our system was impacted near the reported time of the fire.”
Huh.
I’m sure it has nothing to do with state laws not allowing the area under the tower to be cleared by a reasonable amount.
To a California environut, it’s apparently better to let acres of land burn rather than allow some weeds to be trimmed.
Maybe trim the trees and have generally better forest management. Just a throwing that out there.
That we have to have this level of discourse about a subject with a clear and easy solution to avoid third world like power distribution, tells me we need to be hit by another extinction level event so it can all start back up from scratch.

Random rhetorical question:
You have a “whistleblower” who is accusing the President of the United States of impeachable high crimes, tantamount to treason, apparently, but priority number one is to conceal this person’s identity?
And what about him/her? This is a person who is obviously motivated by the purest, noblest principle and patriotism. Saving your country is not something you do anonymously. How will we know whom to pin the Medal of Freedom on, if we don’t know their name? What about the ticker tape parade?
Schiff’s argument has become “no quid pro quo needed”, “the pressure Trump exerted in the call was enough”. Which tells you all you need to know.
If they buy that, then let’s see the impeachment vote.
Interesting point – wonder why that wasn’t what they were saying before the transcript of the call was released, back when they were howling about a supposed quid pro quo.
Trump’s quick release of the transcript caught them off guard, I think.
Their latest “witness” wasn’t actually working in the White House when the alleged impeachable offenses took place.
Probably why they’re trying to say the call transcript itself was sufficient.
I rather enjoyed Schiff claiming that this all had to be kept hush-hush because it was the equivalent to a grand jury.
What’s amazing to me is that the press is all on this Democrat secret committee’s right to have investigative powers.
I’m not sure I am.
I want Trump impeached. Then I want President Pence impeached. Then I want President Pelosi [vomits] impeached. And then as many times as needed until we destroy the office. I don’t care about any of this other shit.
Seriously, though, dude probably has a good reason to stay anonymous.
What concerns me only is the power this gives to the so-called “deep state”. I believe this could easily be done to any president.
No way. The Praetorian Guard always stayed neutral.
What is the “Deep state”? Basically, the intelligence agencies and FBI. It’s not some mysterious cloak and dagger stuff. They’re doing it out in the open where we can see it and then getting gigs on cable news where they brag about what they did. Nothing “deep” about it.
This. I refer to them as the Permanent Bureaucracy.
I think of the “deep state” as the entire permanent bureaucracy. Most of them hang on for decades and exist solely to increase the size and power of the bureaucracy. IRS, FDA, BATFE, the whole lot.
Hey, it’s not my term. That’s why I used quotes.
Just talking in general. It’s such a silly term, but people can attach a lot of meaning to it.
I generally read it as a buzzword coined to refer to an impenetrable bureaucracy, but I can see how some people use it to mean something more conspiratorial and sinister. The silly cloak and dagger vibe it gives off difficult to reconcile.
It’s a useful shorthand. I don’t always want to go through the entire list: FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS, DOJ, State Department, prestige media, Congress and so on and so forth.
From the link:
Deep meaning reach (as in tentacles) not hidden or obscured.
That’s the most fucked up part – unelected agencies (all of which have a really fucking shady, immoral past, by the way) trying to exercise veto power over a presidential election. And the “progressive” Left sticking up for it. Makes me fucking sick.
Impeach them all god will know?

Reading this i want to ask the class. Does blame exist?
https://mobile.twitter.com/IonaItalia/status/1184083048587038720
This is where moral relativism ends up.
She’s going down a road that doesn’t end well.
Wait, I may have mis-gendered there. Not sure, hard to tell
I dont get how you deter others if there is no such thing as blame.
It’s the denial of agency.
It’s the flipside of “You didn’t build that.”
That’s my problem with what she’s saying. It’s inherently contradictory. Blame is just another word for responsibility, albeit with negative connotations. If a person cannot be blamed because they did not choose to act, then deterrence makes no sense. Lacking agency, you’re simply punishing someone for the sake of punishment. But, again, maybe that’s just who you are and, since you, too, lack agency, you can do nothing but punish someone cruelly and pointlessly.
I was going to say this. She even throws in #freewill.
She’s crossing mercy and responsibility. It’s like she thinks you can’t be held responsible if you want mercy, which is the exact wrong thing. Mercy means giving another chance even though you are undeserving and responsible for past failures. You can’t have mercy without taking responsibility.
It was determined that you would cut off a little girl’s clitoris and it was determined that we’d blow your head off if you didn’t stop. I don’t see the problem.
wow, a whole book of gibberish. oh wait, it says Vol 1.
Perfect time for a nice intermission:
Pavel Bure was absurd.
Damn.
Man, when the Rangers traded for him, even on the crappy 2002 Rangers he lit it up…..for a total of 51 games before the knee forced him to retire. 31 goals in those 51 games. Just a huge letdown to bring him in and then have it end so quickly.
And done at 30 mph, too. (That’s like 45 in your Canadian currency or something).
Man, that guy was fast.
One of the most fluid skaters I’ve ever seen.
Try that move at men’s league, Ozy!
Ozy steps on puck instead of kicking, goes head first into cross bar and hits his nuts on goalies helmet.
That’s my signature move. Ozy is welcome to use it for the proper renumeration.
My other go-to, which any of you are welcome to use roalty-free, is to slip behind the D for an uncontested shot and hit the goalie square in the chest.
Uncanny.
l0b0t steps onto the ice (actual footage). https://youtu.be/twrmoM9YDmA
That show had a pretty good run. It’s had some dreck, too, but definitely some great episodes.
I might try it, but yes, it is very likely to end up with a yard sale of equipment, me, and the goalie all in the back of the net… and the puck in the corner.
And I fear I have stolen your trademark move of get behind the D from the blue line in, deke 10 times, then shoot warbling duck into goalie’s chest.
As a goalie, we appreciate this.
Steady, he’s gonna fuck it up, steady, steady.
*thunk*
works every time.
But what we really want to know is what kind of drugs fell out of his ass.
Someone explain these meme to me, plz. I missed it. (My fault, I know, for not keeping up.)

LOL
Thank you!
And it was linked here maybe a dozen times. I mean, it’s like it was scripted just for us.
Outed as a non-link reader.
I use a specific kick move on defenders a lot and it tends to work pretty well. I cross the blue line on my off (right) wing, cut across and drop the puck softly backhanded, seemingly to my centreman cutting behind me. If the defender plays me I’ll just leave it but if he turns his hips towards the centreman/boards at all I stretch back and “catch” the puck with my right foot, kicking it right to my stick in a fantastic position. And you might even still have the centreman as a passing option if he’s aware.
Practice it a little bit and I bet you’ll be able to pull it off, the drop is a little different and you’ll probably hit the wrong (near) skate a bit when you first start combining it with some speed but you’ll get used to it. Even if you’re not a great player I’m assuming that the guys you’re playing against aren’t great either and they’ll probably fall on their asses if you try it 😉
These euphemisms, I swear…
How did we watch hockey on TV before HD came on the scene. He’s a blur a full speed!
It’s interesting you say that. I can remember watching my B’s in the 70’s on WSBK (Channel 38) with rabbit ears and foil on a tiny black and white. I would sit so close to see the puck I was probably less than a foot away.
When HD TVs came out and then flat screens got larger, my first thought was: “Oh, thank god, I’ll be able to see the puck.”
Hockey is still 10 times better (or more) in person than on TV, but man, the quality of TVs is so good now, it really is an enjoyable viewing experience at home.
(And that blue puck idea they tried was an abomination, a veritable crime against humanity.)
Holy crap! I can’t even understand how it’s possible to move that fast.
The soccer equivalent from Mame Diouf.
Also, I had no idea what torture life was pre-HD widescreen.
I can’t wait to see it!..
John Wick 4 trailer just dropped.

Wait there are 4 of em?
Whole trailer.
Anyone know what breed of dog that is?
I will brook no opposition – this is, definitely and finally, peak derp
Of ye of little immagination.
I think that has to be the best troll account on the twits
Wit like that and you can’t get a girl?
Shit. Gilmored that myself. Response to “I totally wrote that first.”
well if I can’t talk to em they don’t know my wit
Then you’re witless.
truly
You took that well.
That’s probably his problem right there
Obvious troll account, sure, but…blue check? I am so confused.
Non profit means they work for free, right?
A recent study by Yale School of Public Health economist Zack Cooper and colleagues takes a look at hospital politics and helps shed light on why American health care is so insanely expensive.
——-
“Hospitals are the largest individual contributor to health care costs in the U.S,” Cooper says. Americans spend over a trillion dollars a year at hospitals. That’s about a third of national health spending, which now consumes almost 20% of U.S. GDP. Cooper’s research shows that, after a long period of consolidation, the cost of hospital services has been exploding. Between 2007 and 2014, hospital prices grew 42 percent.
The irony is most hospitals are “nonprofit,” a status that makes them tax exempt. Many (but not all) do enough charity work to justify tax benefits, yet it’s clear nonprofit hospitals are very profitable. They funnel much of the profits into cushy salaries, shiny equipment, new buildings, and, of course, lobbying. In 2018, hospitals and nursing homes spent over $100 million on lobbying activities. And they spent about $30 million on campaign contributions. Health industries have also been funneling hefty sums into dark money groups. But their political power isn’t just the result of lobbying or electioneering. Hospitals are often the biggest employers in states and cities across America.
Health care reformers direct much of their ire at the nation’s health insurance companies. Perhaps they’re the easiest targets because they’re faceless paper-pushers, located outside their districts or states, who are often the only entity in the system controlling costs. Studies suggest insurance administration and profits do contribute to wasteful health care spending, but they’re just one contributor to a bloated system. Hospitals, which often escape criticism, are a significant part of the problem.
Why, you could knock me over with a feather.
Needs moar certificates of need.
Hang on, I thought all the people who work at nonprofit hospitals are volunteers…
/derpity-doo
I blame RC Dean
This is the result of decades of government policy explicitly designed to push everyone into the third party payer system. The reason this was such a stupid idea is that they’re trying to make insurance into something it’s not: the primary way to pay for all healthcare expenses. If you proposed to increase access and affordability in any other market by doing what has been done with healthcare policy, you’d be laughed out of the room.
Between 2007 and 2014, hospital prices grew 42 percent
So the “Affordable Care Act” was anything but.
Was That Video Of Trump Shooting His Political Foes In The Face Doctored? An In-Depth Analysis
Oh, and Scribd, where I host my book samples, just emailed me to tell me that they’ve flagged one of my books as a possible copyright infringement. I HATE having to prove I own the IP out of the blue by the hosting company. Dude, wait until someone complains.
i totally wrote that first
They don’t have to know that, though.
When grocery stores go woke:
https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-news/cub-foods-asks-shoppers-to-no-longer-openly-carry-guns-in-stores
Cub Foods is asking customers not to open carry while shopping for groceries, also no longer selling vapes.
“While Minnesota is an open-carry state that allows individuals with lawful permits to carry firearms, we also respect the concerns and feedback shared by many of our customers following recent tragic events throughout our country,” the company said in a statement.
I thought they were circling the drain already? Why would they take stands on either of these?
We have a grocery store here that has had “banned” guns for years. They have a sign on their door, the gun with a red line-through circle.
When we were in Nashville I saw a few bars with those signs on the door. I assumed it just meant there were people in the bar carrying concealed.
I just think, “Well, why would you let anybody know you have it? Constitutional carry state, dude.”
There’s no solid rule in TN on drinking and carrying. There’s no law against it, but you can’t carry and be under the influence, but there’s this one simple trick: there’s no BAC threshold for “under the influence.” The legislature essentially leaves that up to the judge’s pre-trial gun posture.
As always, I’m only interested in laws that punish action. Carrying and being under the influence don’t in and of themselves create victims.
Compare with TX (motto: the most libertarian state in the Union once you parse through all the stupid and conflicting rules that we don’t have the simple sense to revoke), where you can’t carry in a bar (defined and posted per the 51% rule.
The 30.06 signs are prima facie evidence of gun dumbshittery.
I never open carry, so I don’t really care.
I think they should apply this policy to police officers as well as the rest of us.
“…the gun with a red line-through circle.”
My work has those signs too. I think it’s silly since we stock rockets (the original gun) on-site
I shop Walmart, Cub, Super 1 and local stores. I have never, repeat never, seen an open carry. In a state where liquor can’t be sold in grocery store but guns can be sold in a liquor store, that sure seems strange.
Last ditch effort to save themselves from bankruptcy?
This is a pretty good editorial about the dubiousness of the US’ involvement in Syria from the beginning. From the Military Times of all places.
Didn’t we get Obama lobbying for us to go in there right after Obama helped the Clintons get rid of the guy in Libya so the Clinton cabal could make a shitload of money helping keep the Eurotards keep the Chinese from buying the oil away from them?
Perhaps the most enraging political event of my life is the completely disappearance of the anti-war Left the second Obama sat down in the big chair.
I know we’re about non-aggression and everything, but can we make an exception so that I can strap down these lefties like Alex in Clockwork Orange and make them look at pictures of children blasted to a bloody pulp by Obama-ordered drone strikes?
What difference, at this point, does it make?
