Sunday Evening. You know what to do…the comments are all yours.
You know what to do…

Back from BGG CON and fantastic TX BBQ. By the time these links Post, I should be at the hospital getting my third and final cortisone shot for my worthless C7 disc crushed nerves. And then tomorrow I get to go from work to see Mom moved over from acute rehab care to longer term rehab/assisted living. I am so busy…waaaa!

Poor me – I have access to the best medicine in the world. 200 years ago, I would have been an angry laudanum addict or such instead. Mom and Dad have access to wonderful help and facilities, instead of sitting in a rocking chair and croaking. STOP FOOKIN’ WHINGIN’ YE GIT!
There, much better. Now that I am focused, on to Links!
Have at you, in the comments!

I am not back, but you, the Glibertariat, probably want your open post. So I set this before I left. Have at it in the comments. Oh, and one more thing…

I have lots going on this coming week – bad; moving parents from house the family has been in since 1971, into semi-independent living (a fancy apartment for olds). good; going to Board Game Geek Con. (BGG CON). I will hopefully be darting out one mid-day so that sloopy can shake his head at me in sadness – then we can have lunch and a beer.
In the meantime, I’ll just leave these for you until next week…

While it isn’t “In Flanders Fields“, I have my own contribution to War Poetry…Over Tigris In The Night. Enjoy, deride, ignore, ponder…whatever you desire. I am not your supervisor. Nor am I detaining you.
Happy Veteran’s Day to my Brothers. I look back at some of the things we did, and scarce believe I was part of any of it. I will lift a glass to all of you tonight.

NOTE: The music is an original composition. It was given to me. Don’t sell it, on penalty of STEVE SMITH visiting you! Also, I did not narrate this, the music composer did…I just wrote the poem one night, after coming back to Baghdad from Taji.
Here it is in text:
In a quiet waiting line
of Soldiers at the twilight.
Stirring when we hear
the rotor whine of
blades come near.
The crew chief waves us o’er
to his waiting craft.
Armored, belted, locked we sit
near each open door
on the frame – we lift!
Over groves of date palm
and scattered farms we streak.
Turning to follow Tigris’ path along,
our rotors sound an airborne Psalm.
A turbine-soul, given song.
Baghdad’s lights catch me
with a dazzling flash.
So low flew our mission
o’er Tigris’ flow, it seemed we
slipped into a dream-like vision
A flare a-lights, joins our Iraqi night,
but soon melts into the City colors.
The door gunners keep watch upon
the River banks as our flight
soars over bridges there – then gone.
We turn by the heart of Baghdad,
and the crew scans the night
one last time. Soon we dropped
to the silent concrete pad,
the rotor hum then abated.
Though my day was passing long,
the night had shown me wonders
and I was loathe to let them go.
Reverie takes the place of engine-song
The others silent, perhaps thinking so.

Sort of last-ish minute fill in for links. We hope the variety of linksters we have had parading through this week has both confused and delighted you. If not, too bad. You are stuck with me this morning. God help you all this afternoon, if this keeps up.
But enough of that – you are here to comment. These here links are sort of your excuse to do so:

I have begged OMWC to have this morning’s spot. In place of your normal links, you get…The Last Ride (?) of Don Swissxote.

The TRIAL OF TEH CENTURY (Sedition charges against the leaders of the 2017 Catalan Independence referendum) finished up. The announced verdicts were about what was expected. Then things got a bit unruly. Pro-independence groups called a general strike Friday. Here is a slim BBC blurb on that.
So here we are, Catalans. The EU is backing Madrid, of course. Nobody seems to be ready to do anything other than clear a throat or maybe give with a mild “harumph”. It is up to you. Do you want to be independent? You will have to fight for it. And I mean FIGHT. Armed combat. Killing. Property damage. Not protest, strike, and wave banners.
Some of the Basque tried. For over 50 years the ETA waged low level war. They failed…But to me at least, they were a group more “leftist” than “fighting for independence”.
So, will Catalonia take up arms?
I think they will not do so. They have had 2 years to be ready for this day…and not a whole lot else happened. What took place were the actions of a people that prefer independence, in the same manner you prefer a salad dressing. “Oh, its not available? OK, I’ll settle for ________.”

Don Swissxote can hang up his spurs.

You, our readers, contributors, lurkers and staff have made TPTB here at Glibs reflect in wonder at this little site of ours. We have been going for quite a while – frankly, longer and stronger than most expected here at Glibs HQ. You have our thanks and our gratitude.
OK, enough of the sappy sentiment – here is what is upcoming, and the comments are yours!
Monday – More of “Growing Up With Animal” and Trigger Hippie speaks of the punchfest between Hagler and Leonard.
Tuesday – Tonio has a bit of a guide – to explain us Glibs. A Florida Man post later on. I was afraid to look at it, so you will just have read it yourself. Prepare for further teeth gritting, reading the details that Ozymandias lays out before us.
Wednesday – DOOM… I mean, Sugarfree. Then trshmnstr finishes us off. My brain hurts already.
Thursday – SNP! Crossword!
Friday – The Glibbening continues. Cryptid(s) links, advice, mayhem.
Weekend – the continuing misadventures of OMWC, Spudalicious, Sir Digby, Mexican Sharpshooter, Not Adhan, et al.
Weekday Links from sloopy, Brett and subs as needed.

Sloopy had something come up this morning, so you get my rather terse style of linkings this morning. I am not sure exactly what was going on, perhaps the kids were executing a plot to take over the house. They do have sloopy and Banjos outnumbered…
Sports – not one team I have an interest in has won anything the past week. So sports can go hang. (Ohio State did win, and the Astros are going for a sweep – so sloopy has that going for him)
Birthdays – large numbers of humans have this particular day as their day of birth! …fine. Yo-Yo Ma and Vlad Putin were born today. Happy?!
