  • Monday Morning Links

    This story? Again?

I am making sure these links are a bit more …comprehensive than the preview (non)post of last night. First, though, I ride my Catalan Hobbyhorse… the Trials of the Century are about as sluggish as the OJ trial was. A good summary hereIf there are convictions and imprisonment – and the Catalans do not react with violence…I think it is safe to say the whole independence thing is over. The Catalan STASI are watching…

OK then. Horse having been ridden, now links.

    • I kind of like seeing a Top. Men. job go unwanted. Or, at least unfilled. For now.
    • GAH! I am not sure even HM would endorse this fetish. Well…maybe, if it involved an enormous amount of butter and garlic?
    • Looks like (((They ))) might be off the hook. DNA testing and a “changed story”…ugh.
    • Cops on meth! No, this is not a story about Florida. “Do you shabu?”

Come on in, Cacadia has spoken. Or whatever the cryptids say.

  • Open Post…no preview

I let this slide…and was at a neighbor’s eating and drinking like a Viking.  So, open post…the preview is…we will have stuff.

    Over to you.

  • Monday Morning Links

    Take that, Monday!

I have found out that the old philosophy “work hard, play hard” is best done when not 53 years old. I tired that the past couple of weeks…and while I did get a fair amount of work out of the way…the rest just made me tired. How about “work reasonably hard, play…moderately?”. Hmmm. I don’ think that will catch on. But you did not come here to hear me kvetch. You came here for the Links! Well, really you are here for the comments space. But throw me a bone here.

    • This is all I ever need to know about the IAEA. Be sure to read the last two sentences.
    • You guys used to have ships…not anymore. Maybe the USN could start offering paid protection? “Your once proud nation cannot protect your ships against piracy or regional bad boys? Call on the USN – rate quotes available today!”
    • Statist @$$hole decries government monopoly’s failure?
    • How about horsewhipping their C-Suite naked, through the streets of Tinker AFB?

Uh…go forth and free Cascadia, or whatnot.

  • Things to Come – Week of July 22

Yeah. Here on Glibs. It’ll be great…

That was quite a week on Glibs. Looks like our cryptids have things sorted out…for now. You never know what they are going to get themselves into next. I wanted to second OMWC’s thanks to all of you. I know you are often on the end of the narrowed gazes, and occasional chiding from me – but lots of you have been very nice, and have even tried to help with what you can. Good on ya.

With that all said, here is our preview of the week to come.

Monday – Animal tells us of another shitlord. Later, Tulip asks a question.

Tuesday – Leon does his own look into the Future. That Mexican Sharpshooter feller has a few questions for us.

Wednesday – Begin to focus your chi….for it appears that you will need all your strength to survive a SugarFree TWO POST DAY!!!  MUHUHUHUWAHA!

Thursday – TBD for the morning. Later on, blackjack goes to the park.

Friday – You get to hear What We Are Reading. Someone in the cryptid rotation will pop in.

Weekend – OMWC, Not Adahn, Mexican Sharpshooter and a cast of thousands! OK, not thousands. But you will be entertained and informed!

I would also like to thank our contributors – you make this site more than it would be otherwise. I would encourage the rest of you to follow their good example!

The comments section is open. Have at it.

  • Monday Morning – WTF Happened Links

A sad ending to a valiant effort.

Hmmm. Looks like STEVE SMITH got into a bit of trouble. The spotter UAV did get some good pics….and, oooh. The STEVE SMITH FILE is open.

    Hmmmm…old family ties turned sour…

YETI never got over losing that one.

YETI becomes union boss…SMITH Family not happy. STEVE storms into YETI’s HQ.

That must have been some fight.

Whoa…looks like YETI made one big mistake. He located by the sea. Forgot that STEVE SMITH has family…and they are on his side.

    Oooh. That had to hurt.

Oh my…recent UAV video…looks like SEA SMITH is dragging YETI back to ASIA. That is one long arsed, salt water soaking journey. I hope STEVE SMITH is OK. Might have to have ZARDOZ fill in on Friday.

Well, now that I am all caught up, we can get to the links.

    • Go ahead…make all the “easier to run away” jokes.
    • Guaranteed to make friends and win people to your side!
    • This is angry. I like angry tabloids.

Music – Today, it is going to be a scorching one.

    How Now Swiss Brown Cow?

I hope all of our Kaleforniuh Glibs are safe, after the earfquakes and aftershocks. A lot of ill-will is sent CA’s way on these pages, but I would think we could all agree that we don’t want people hurt and things broken.

There, with the kind thoughts expressed, time to link (not so kindly):

    • Yes, because Georgia is clearly looking to pick a fight with its smaller neighbor… Russia. Like the Russians need some cheap excuse to pry another piece off of the “near abroad”. @#$% slavers.
    • Looks like UK Labour has decided to mimic TEAM BLUE here in the US. What on Earth is the matter with these people?
    • No word if STEVE SMITH has vacationed in the Balearic Islands.
    • Yes! Let all the clowns into the circus.
    • I. Am. Wary.

Music – old song, woman with a delightful voice.

  • Whycome We Explode Things to Celebrate?

“Some Swiss Servo guy is holed up in there.”

I used to love fireworks. As a kid, that was the best part of Independence Day. Fireworks shows, shooting off bottle rockets and Roman candles…. ah.

Then a year in NE Afghanistan went by. Came home and went to a Class A baseball game near my town, that featured a fireworks show afterward. First shot started a bit of a panicked reaction from me. (No, really Chipwooder, it did!) It was the sound, not the flash or such. I excused myself, and figured I would wait it out in the restroom. WRONG. Being a Single A park, it was cinderblock and sheetmetal…it actually amplified everything. Before I could really freak out, I got back to tell my wife, that I kind of needed to leave. As we walked back to the car, the show ended. Haven’t been a big fan since. Going to Iraq for the second half of TEH SURGE didn’t help any adjusting, I am guessing.

Later, being a bit discomfited by my fireworks enthusiast neighbors, I wondered….why of all days, is this the one people blow stuff up to celebrate? [NOTE: by the time this started happening, I had started to transmogrify into a libertarian. No police were called, no complaints to the City, no going out and yelling at them….especially since their kids seemed to love it.]. I mean, there is some history of noisemaking on New Year’s Eve…firing off guns seems to be a tradition in many places. [When I was a prosecutor, I spent 8 months running a branch court location in a city with…a sizable Messican, um, transient population. New Year’s Eve 1998, we had 286 calls of shots fired. The next year, the cops got smart – they had a Spanish speaking officer in each car, and they would simply go the area and have the cop tell everyone…”Happy New Year. By the way. No shooting here, please. People think it is a gang war. Thank you and good night.”] But nothing on the scale of July 4.

As with most problems in the entire world IT STARTED WITH A DEAD WHITE MALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Missing by only two days, due to the difference in the vote of Congress and the Declaration being dated)….John Adams explained to his wife

“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

OK, so I see where this started.

And as any libertarian could tell you – what started as a sort of spontaneous celebration was slowly co-opted and somewhat smothered by the gubermint. Eventually fixed as a holiday, then an unpaid Federal Holiday…then, of course, a paid Federal Holiday. The guns, bonfires and bells got shushed or extinguished. But the fireworks remained. Until the nanny-statists started getting them banned, or taken over by the G. Some cooperation with sponsors and such has kept many a civic fireworks show going (“Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks, as seen on NBC! Chicago Navy Pier Fireworks show, brought to you by Miller Lite”). In many liberty oriented states, fireworks are legal (Hi, Indiana!) and often brought by the carload into more nanny-scold states (Illinois) and blasted away with a complete disregard for rules, laws and finger-wagging. While I may not care for it, I say “good!” At least one little bit of defiance of the Panopticon State.

Go shoot off a Roman Candle and pack of bottle rockets for me, will you? I’ll be in the basement with the dog and some imperial stout or whisky (or both).

  • Monday Morning Links of Wannafud

Oh great, a letter from STEVE SMITH

This morning I can barely form a coherent thought greater than “Wannafud?”….and I come into Glibs HQ and find I already have mail. Joy, it is from STEVE SMITH. This cannot be good.

    TO CHEESE PERSON,

STEVE SMITH STILL SORRY HIM THROW CHEESE PERSON ACROSS ROOM IN CRYPTID TAKEOVER. HOPE BYGONE IS BYGONE. STEVE SMITH IS PROMINENT FOREST LAWYER, BUT NEED HELP. HIM NEED LABOR LAW ADVICE. HIM KNOW CHEESE PERSON IS ALSO LAWYER. IF CAN HELP, STEVE SMITH ENCLOSE RETAINER. STEVE SMITH CONTACT SOON. BY CONTACT, MEAN…WRITE.

    STEVE SMITH, ESQ.

Grand. Just what I need. Well, there was a “retainer” enclosed. 5 birds nests, 3 possum skulls and about 5000 oak leaves. I guess I will find out what he is up to. After I find a dumpster for this “retainer”. Best do this one pro bono.

Oh, yeah… you all probably want your links. Here you go then:

    • Maybe I need to start paying more attention to Hong Kong. Since naught seems to be going on in Catalonia (except meekly accepting the drawn out, inevitable “guilty” findings in TEH TRIAL)
    • In a market pissing match between the EU and the Confeoderatio Helevetica…. my money is on the Swiss. Literally.
    • OK, now this is amusing. Thank you, Daily Fail!
    • …and the world ensures that SugarFree will always have more Hat and Hair material.

I leave the music links to the commentariat, as I think I had better go refresh myself on current labor law developments.

  • Monday Morning Linkings of Swiss

    A cry for our times.

Looks like another day of living off coffee and grimly holding on to my temper, from lack of sleep. The links quality may reflect this. But I get an alleged large step toward relief tomorrow morning, so by next week…maybe we will progress to mediocre links! Huzzah.

But what you get this morning is right here:

    • “I dunno, shall we call it a draw?” Both sides realize, the other just won’t seem to quit, and cannot succeed…so maybe a little jaw-jaw? Of course, please note this would be round seven, of this current set of blatherings.
    • So…who has been missing the past 6 months, only to return lately?
    • Um…”led to prostitution”? Ma’am, you were already there.
    • Grandpa Gulag outflanks Lieawatha on the left.

Music, I leave to the commentariat. You know what to do.

  • Things to Come – Week of June 24th

Summer appears to be taking it toll on our authors. We are a bit light/unsure on content this week.  [INSERT SEMI-DIGNIFIED PLEADING BY SWISS FOR CONTENT TO BE SUBMITTED]. But imma gonna tell you about what we do have, by cracky!

Monday – Animal continues keeping us entertained and informed on Modays – but this one is not firearm related. Tune in. ’nuff said. SP will continue the Guide to Insufferable Politeness. This @#$%b lot could use some @#$%ing manners. I don’t know how it could insufferable? That means I will have to read the @#$&ing article, eh?

Tuesday – Yeah, about Tuesday… MLW is getting fried by “Woke Charmed”, so that may be a bit more periodic, rather than regularly scheduled. And I am going in for a lovely cortisone shot right between the C6 and C7 vertebrae. So, content is…not settled at this point.

Wednesday – Hat and Hair double feature. The Tale of Goode King Donald continues, and CPRM finishes our minds off in the evening. If that doesn’t spell entertainment, nothing does!

Thursday – RC Dean gets pessimistic. Well, in an article. Yes, just read it, will ya? Then we will hear from Sir Digby. Good to get some people contributin’ around here!

Friday – What are We Reading by our very own Glibs Staff. I will actually have an entry. Other than “raclette place menus” or “beer list” or “wine list” or “spirits list”. A cryptid to be named later will visit us in the evening.

Weekends continue to see OMWC, Not Adhan, Spudalicious and Mexican Sharpshooter lay it all out for us.

Weekday links should come from me, Banjos, OMWC, Brett and any substitutes we need to jam in at the last minute.

Please consider sending something – as you can see, we take all comers, all topics and subjects. That is part of what makes this place the bestest in the whole intarweb!

    The comments are all yours.
