This one might wind up being a little bit like a sitcom episode where they just cut and paste parts of past episodes and the characters reflect on it: “Hey remember that one time we did that thing with the fat guy?
…That was funny.”
This is my review of Long Beach Brewing Company Channel Keller Vienna Lager (H/T: Iobot)
How is this just a montage episode? September marks one of my favorite times of year as a beer drinker: Oktoberfest! Seriously I’ve done a couple of these, one here where I link to a previous article (H/T: DEG) of a Glib’s previous travels to the festival in Munich, as well as this one where I attempted to recreate the magic.
How did I do?
One thing I thought was interesting was when I went to purchase a local version, something curious was written on the label: “Vienna Lager.” I thought these were different…turns out I was neither right or wrong. This style is sometimes considered to be the first lager in existence depending on which brewer got to it first. One being Gabriel Sadlmeyer from Spaaten and the other being Anton Dreher from the Klein-Schwechat brewery. The malt both used is copied from a method developed in England using coke to roast the malt, leaving it with a deep, roasted flavor without it being burned. It predates the Pilsner by a year. Oktoberfest is the result of seasonal brewing laws in Germany is sometimes referred to as “Marzen” meaning March, because it was the last time brewers were allowed to brew for fear of spoiled beer. The style cannot be called Oktoberfest unless it was brewed in Munich and served at Oktoberfest.
It is protected like the town of Glashutte requires a certain percentage of watches to be manufactured in Glashutte in order for the word “Glashutte” to legally appear on the dial. Then again, somewhere in China somebody is scribbling Glasgütte on a piece of tin… “Festbier” is sometimes used in the United States to get around this legality for those that care.
With the exception of the use if Munich or Vienna malts, Oktoberfest, Marzen, Vienna Lager, and Festbier are more or less identical.
Brewing Vienna Lager fell out of favor to a large degree in Europe, but surprisingly has a large following in Mexico. As previously reported, Napoleon II went to war with Mexico in the 1860’s when their President Benito Juarez fell behind on interest payments on foreign aid from Spain, England and France. While he came to an agreement with Spain and England, France decided to send an army to collect. Following the war that gave us Cinco de Mayo, Napoleon II placed a puppet ruler to keep the trains running, so to speak from the Austrian court. He brought a few brewers among other craftsman along with him, many of whom chose to remain in Mexico after the Mexicans shot him and left his bloody shirt on display in Mexico City.
Consequently, Vienna Lager is popular in Mexico. Examples are Bohemia, Indio, and Negra Modelo. It should be noted these brands eventually adapted away from the original style and began using flaked corn as an adjunct which is why there are some craft brewers in the southwest that will follow suit in their attempt to recreate. Such as this one, that for some reason appealed to me. Overall the Mexican version I find to be more refreshing, and is often described as having a “delicate” flavor profile.
So how does this one stack up? Very well in my opinion, and this is a style I typically like. I give them extra points for the full pint can, which is the optimal serving of beer. After all 500mL is too little, while a full liter is simply too much. Long Beach Brewing Company Channel Keller Vienna Lager 3.9/5
First?
On a beer post.
By someone who doesn’t drink.
Irony. What is it ?
It’s Alanis Morissette writing about some animals being more equal than others?
Better than rain on your wedding day
“Happy is the bride the rain falls on”
So a bride who likes golden showers?
What was ironic is that her song wasn’t about irony, it was about bad luck.
That’s the joke.
Ironic that she’s singing about tragedy and calling it irony.
Isn’t it ironic?
Well, I don’t know. A free ride when you’re already there isn’t quite a tragedy.
If it was a deep financial hardship to buy the ticket to get there, and then it was subsequently free, it would be tragic to me, yes.
When someone says ‘ride’, I automatically think ‘car’, not a round trip ticket to Australia.
My current financial situation makes me view everything in terms of “How much does it cost?”
I’m sorry to hear that, Mojeaux, just please do not get in the grocery line in front of me and start picking coins out of your little coin purse to pay for stuff. JK, but really.
Yeah. I’m going to refer to the song I posted below.
I take all my change to the bank and trade it in for a deposit slip. ?
Good thing I have plenty of pie crusts and canned pumpkin, though. And if I run out of pie crusts, I still have flour and butter!
It ain’t bad luck, I just have the wrong kind of friends
Sorry, we can not be friends
But non-drinking friends (and spouses) make such good designated drivers!
But they never get neked and run through a mall.
Doesn’t mean you can’t!
I can’t even stand the smell of that yeasty mess, much less drink it.
Whoa. I’m cool with you not drinking. But crapping on my little bit of heavan is too much.
Fd’A said he couldn’t be my friend. /whinepout I struck out in hurt. Hurt prople hurt people.
How can you winepout if you on’t drink?
Enema
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Long Beach is one those seaside communities that make one forget the proximity to Megacity One.
Works almost the same for the left coast version. The LBC is a weird place.
My preferred Glashutte watch.

I convinced a former boss with far more money than I to buy one in platinum.
The Hamilton watches that I collect and wrote about here were made by German immigrants in PA and are more in the Glashutte tradition as compared to the Swiss.
Yeah, I ain’t spending €32,000 on any wristwatch.
A guy in one of my FB groups lost his custom Breitling on an airplane. He found it on ebay and the asshole is holding it hostage for $10k.
He asked the group for advice. I sent him this:
Ouch!
HAHAHAHA! Here it is.
I guess he paid it!
Well done.
“You see this watch? This watch cost more than your car.”
A.B.C.
Well, they did know about being millionaires….
Jesus. You’ve outdone yourself with that one.
I take it you don’t want to be near me?
You’re so hip it hurts, Ted.
Also hip.
Also not the link you’re expecting.
Spectacular.
Also led me down a rabbit hole learning about W&W.
Interesting fellows. Thanks, Ted!
Always be clockin’?
Well … I suppose if you’re punching a time clock …
I can appreciate the craftsmanship but I could put a major dent in my toy list with that kind of denaro.
“Hey remember that one time we did that thing with the fat guy?
…That was funny.”
No, it wasn’t. It was cruel and insensitive.
*preens*
What fat guy? The nekked dancing guy at the LP convention?
No; Lou Reed.
Or was it that guy who shot himself in the balls?
They’ve been getting this in at one of my local stores, it’s really, really good. Which is probably why it’s getting a score of 90 on Beeradvocate.
Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen
I’ll have to look for that. Love Marzens.
That one really is a good one. I drank a couple of them last night. My wife doesn’t like it, but she’s a girl, so if it’s not a light tasting lager or pils, she won’t like it. The Ayinger Heffe is my fav heffe also, if you haven’t had it, you should.
I’ve had their Celebrator Doppelbock which I really liked a lot. Sounds like I need to try more of their beers.
They’re all good. But the heffe, besides the Frankenmuth Brewery heffe, which I think you can only get locally there, it’s the best heffe I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of them. A slice of lemon and yummy.
I had a hard time finding stuff for my wife as well. I’ve gotten her to like some caramel flavored ales in the Amber, Brown, Red categories. She will drink Hofbrau Hefeweisen as well. It can’t be too strong flavored or she want like it.
Do they make white zin-flavored beer?
Yes, it’s available in the ‘Hipster Juice’ section of your local store.
Sounds like this.
I have seen that at BevMo, if you have one nearby check it out.
Ayinger makes good stuff.
It’s Alanis Morissette writing about some animals being more equal than others?
I read that one. It was called “The Naked and the Dead” I think.
” some animals being more equal than others?”
Nah, it means Bucks Only season this year
That pick on the front page makes me thirsty.
Seriously: Does this mean that Bohemia, Indio, and Negra Modelo still use coke to roast flaked corn instead of malt without burning the corn which is then fermented into beer?
Jokingly: Is not the point of Mexican Coke (R or TM) that it uses sugar and not corn?
I don’t know, but they did something right with the Negra Modelo. The Modelo Especial is sort of crappy beer, to me. I mean I’d drink it if there’s nothing else, but I wouldn’t pay for it.
Errr… wedge of lemon.
Damnit, I really need edit fairy today. And I’m completely sober… maybe that’s the problem.
Why would they roast malt with cocaine? Seems like a waste.
Dunno, but they were up all night doing it.
I’ll have to check that out. Negra Modelo is wife’s favorite beer. I’m a fan as well.
#Metoo. Good workhorse beer.
So, hate to go OT. But, I’ve been working too much this week to post or even read any news. But in light of what I’ve seen this morning, is Hillary president yet?
She became president of Earth 2 in November 2107.

2017, not 2107
I thought maybe the link was to some dystopian science fiction.
Not gonna read. Might give me nightmares.

Went out with a buddy tonight. He says he’s got a great place for curry in the backstreets of Shinjuku. “This dump?” “No” he says and leads me through the shithole restaurant’s kitchen and into a plain room in the back. Some guy who’s DNA would stump ancestry.com plops some runny curry on the table. Hungry, so I eat it. Finally he brings out this bad boy and packs the bowl with a brick of something. Better than the curry.

Just saw him in August, good show.
SomeAll of the best meals I’ve ever had in Japan have been in tiny, hole-in-the-wall places.Bigger restaurants can make good food, but nothing idiosyncratic enough to be great.
Hit and miss. Tonight was a miss. Cheap, though.
True enough, I’ve had some pretty lousy meals in hole-in-the-wall places. There’s a yakatori joint not far from the Kinshicho station, for example…
I deliberately chose an out-of-the-way diner once, believing it would be awesome homemade comfort food.
All frozen factory food, nuked. Powdered gravy. Box mashed potatoes. Swanson and Banquet do better.

LOL
Nice. It’s been twenty years since I’ve had shisha.
Speaking for curry, made this again last weekend:

My rouxes suck so used mild Vermont blocks.
The young lady needs to work on her knife skills. I kept waiting for the severed fingertip.
Otherwise, looks pretty tasty!
I cringe every time I hear that metallic echoing clunk as the knife sounds like it’s being used spine side down. *bam* *bam*
You’re not kidding. Yikes!
I’d bet money that a few shavings of fingernail found their way into that curry.
That was a very interesting article MS.
Gracias.
I don’t know why I think this is funny, but probably because I lived around people like guy my son was talking to me about last night.
Anyway, he was telling me there’s this new guy who works out on the shop floor at his employer, guy is a real redneck from KY, and the guy has become a constant source of entertainment in the office. The guys drinks Budweiser all day I guess when he’s not at work and it’s all he drinks or has ever drank and anyone mentions any other beer, the guy goes ‘What the fuck is that?, that’s gay!’.
So, my son said that him and a couple other people from the office were eating lunch out in their little cafeteria yesterday and this dude, who my son refers to as ‘this big ol redneck’, comes in and sits at their table. The guy is looking around at everyone asking ‘Hey, so what are you eating today?’. And one of the guys replies ‘Some grilled salmon with some arugula’, and the guy goes ‘Arugula, what the fuck is that, that looks like some sort of weed to me!, that’s gay! If you told someone in Kentucky you’re eating some arugula, they’ll punch you in the face!’. So my son replied ‘Dude, I lived in Kentucky, I don’t think arugula is gay’, and the guy looks at my son and says ‘You’re gay!’. So this guy is a constant joke around the office. But like I said, I lived around people like that, so I know why it’s so funny.
We had a guy like that at the auto parts plant where I used to work. All he ever did was insinuate that some man or another was insufficiently masculine. For example, his thing with me was that when I’d take off my hardhat and change out of my work uniform, I’d comb my hair. He thought only girls worried about their hair, and he’d tell me about it (and I’d tell him some shit right back because exactly zero people liked him anyway).
His wife also worked there, and one day she let it slip that he goes and gets fucking manicures on a regular basis. Now there’s nothing wrong with a dude getting a manicure, but there is something wrong with doing that if you’re going to make gay/effeminate jokes about every other male in the place. From that day on, it was over. He couldn’t walk out the door without hearing, “What’s the rush Jeff, you got a nail appointment?” And every time he’d pick up a part from the line, someone would joke about him breaking a nail.
Justice is sweet.
“What’s the rush Jeff, you got a nail appointment?”
That’s hilarious.
There was a fellow in my Army platoon who, when inebriated, would stand up and punch a fellow right in the nose if he felt that person said something bad about the great state of Kentucky. He would leap to his feet shouting – “Who’s talkin’ shit about Kentucky?”, followed up by a sloppy right cross.
Bill Weld persists in making an ass of himself.
“making an ass of himself”
He can rest now, the job was finished a long time ago.
Did you see Lyin Ted’s comments recently about gun control? He’s a smart guy, but he’s also a total statist. ‘Shall not be infringed’, Lyin Ted.
Where? Saw the idiot law prof and gun grabbers in the Mourning Lynx comments. Forget killing all the lawyers first, start with the law school faculties.
I don’t remember where the link was, it was a Youtube video, but sounds like Lyin Ted pushing that universal background check bullshit. Of course, like all Congress critters, no matter what shit they pass, it won’t apply to them.
Repeal the Brady Act, Lyin Ted. Didn’t have any federal requirement for background checks before 1993 and shouldn’t have them now either. These asshats truly are progressives driving the speed limit.
^This^
Background checks are unconstitutional. But what they are talking about is greatly expanding that, so that if you sell your brother a rifle or give your son a rifle, all of the sudden you are a felon. And it won’t be a law, it will conveniently be a regulation, so if LEO breaks into the wrong house in the middle of the night and they see a gun, it’s going to be ‘Where’d you get that gun?’, ‘My dad gave me that back in 1970’, and all of the sudden you’re being prosecuted in a federal court. This is exactly what Lyin Ted and the gun grabbers want.
Happened here under state law. First it was the gun show “loop hole”. The it was the private sales “loop hole”. Next will be the family “loop hole” or the loan “loop hole”.
As Suthen always says, they’re liars. Every “loop hole” is whatever’s left over from the last round that allows private ownership but they couldn’t push far enough. Besides, no one wants to take your guns! That’s just crazy talk.
Yes. The goal is not public safety. They know fully well that no gun law ever passed, or that ever will pass, will increase public safety. It’s about making us all defenseless first so that they can do whatever they want. When they come to your place and tell you that no one needs 5 acres and bus you into a city to live in a stack of box cars, you have no defense against that. That is all it is. Once they have the 2nd, all the others will quickly fall.
Also, it’s why they started with AR-15 type rifles. Those are weapons of war, no one needs those! But next it will be any semi-auto, so all guns except for single shot.
Gun control reminds me of general warrants. There’s no proof of a crime and only a tiny fraction of gun “possessors” commit crimes. To preemptively declare guns the cause and thereby outlaw them is to attach a penalty to the whole lot of society in an attempt to curtail the actions of just a few. It’s like searching every house because a couple of them contain evidence of a crime.
“It’s like searching every house ”
Well, they’d love to do that, a proggy dream come true. Look, there’s some dangerous product with too much sodium! On the floor, citizen!
Did it.
Boston.
Pressure cooker bombers.
But it was totes voluntary.
Government mad libs!
Told my wife after she passed her citizenship exam, that all that stuff she learned about the Constitution and Bill of Rights is all obsolete now because of the new FYTW clause.
Seriously, is there anyone in Congress who respects our guaranteed rights in the least? Yeah, I know, they do, but…
Oh wait, I forgot about Rand Paul.
The part that drives me the most insane about the Bill of Rights is not only has it been forgotten, but when they do pay lip service to it, they totally forget about #9 and #10 and think if you havn’t been explicitly given the rights in the BOR then it’s fair game for the Fed Gov. If i had a Time machine, i would go back to Maddison and show him what becomes of his constitution. I’d go to the Every ratification assembly and show them what happens.
I’d then be hanged for witchcraft.
Bill Weld used to be a serious guy.
Should quit now. Onward and downward!
I have not been a fan of his post-DOJ political career, but I’ve never thought of him as a clown.
And I’m out.
Great article, Mexi! Thanks for the history lesson.
Your Maximilian link appears to be broken, so I looked it up and found this.

Excellent photographer in Tucson. Has a drone and isn’t afraid to use it. The video of flash floods is incredible.
Mahalo. That is good footage of Tanque Verde Falls. Every few years somebody gets caught in a flash flood there because the trails away from the creek are steep and far between.
@Suthenboy and anybody else who would know. Carried over from last thread.
Shit.
Well, I learned my lesson about asking the edit fairy to close my tags.
Mo, in some places in deserts water collects in low, sheltered spots (called tanks). They’re also attractors of wildlife, so if your heroine were resourceful enough she could collect both food and water. Barrel cacti are also a water source. Note: There are some deserts you don’t want to fool with, the Mojave being one of them. One of my uncles prospected for years around the Needles, California area and had some interesting stories. Some of them might have been true.
Excellent. Thank you!
AZ? people die within hours out there. If I see some one broken down out there, I stop and give them something to drink. I always carry an extra quart of gatorade in my saddlebags when I’m in the desert. I’ve seen a guy drain the whole thing in one gulp after an hour of being on the side of the road.
Okay, thanks. The exercise the villain wants to put her through is to “harden her through adversity,” but she is not a fighter. She’s a runner and, worse, a giver-up-er. Except she’s more afraid of dying painfully than the adversity. He wants her to crawl through the desert to get help.
I had to be hospitalized for dehydration after a surgery. I would not want to die of thirst. How horrid.
When you said you don’t drink, I assumed you meant alcohol. 😉
Heh. I had a stomach surgery and couldn’t keep any water down. Or anything else, for that matter.
I have given birth twice. There is NO PAIN like having an IV full of potassium shoved into your arm.
This. Never go in the desert without extra water. If you want to survive you hide up during the day and walk at night.
When I was a kid a family broke down less than a mile from a well traveled highway near Tucson during the summer. Dad took his two sons with him and left mom and daughter(s) in the car. The XY all died from heat before making to the highway. The XX all survived when a passing rancher stopped.
Yes, this is what I had planned to have her do. Seems only common sense to me, but I have only been driving through less awful parts of the desert, in southern Colorado and Utah.
And just hope that it’s not the Aussie outback you have to walk at night in. Or in the daytime for what it matters.
No, but I am trying to find a survivable desert.
Go for the one in Chili. But you best have water, it’s the driest place on earth.
In the U.S.
Western Washington is pretty desert like and probably survivable.
Also, what’s the one West of L.A.? I used to walk around there with one of my uncles when I was a kid. It has those really tall cacti the size of trees.
Excellent! Thank you!
I think the one west of LA is the Pacific. :-p
The one east of LA is the Atlantic, and we suffered a blowout there one night on the interstate. Had to spend half a day in Las Vegas at the Ford dealership. Las Vegas didn’t seem anywhere near as glamorous as the pictures I had seen.
West of L.A. is the pacific. There’s desert to the north and east. Sounds like you might mean Joshua Tree. It’s a cool place to visit (well, not cool, interesting.)
In the US I recommend either the Sonoran Desert (bottom 1/2 of the state) because there are some surface water features. Even a “dry” river can yield some water by digging down in the sand at night. The Barrel cactus species all have pulpy wet flesh inside (I know, phrasing) that is drinkable. Saguaros too but the water is more bitter. The other choice would be the Colorado Plateau of the four corners region. Dramatic landscapes (John Ford filmed there), lots of water with the Colorado River and the major stem streams- if you can get down to it. Plus you could throw in the whole Anasazi angle.
Anasazi!
I’ve been there!
I am taking notes. Keep ’em coming!
“I think the one west of LA is the Pacific. :-p”
There’s a smartass in every crowd. When you live as far east as I do, everything looks like West, lol.
“There’s desert to the north and east.”
The one to the east, with the tree thingy.
And I meant to say the Mojave.
Pretty sure it’s a serious crime to molest a Saguaro. Better be life or death.
To make myself clear it is not because of a woo woo Anasazi elder rises from the dead to help your character. It is because they constructed shelters, food caches, walkways up cliffs all over the region. New ones are found all the time. How that culture thrived on the CP is amazing.
David Roberts has two classic and easy for the general public books. The common theme in the titles is “Old Ones”.
Re the Mohave Desert (mainly in Cali and has the Joshua Trees}. It is an interesting desert but lacks the diversity of flora and fauna of the Sonoran. Less transient surface water as well. But Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks can make good locales. There is a woman whi is a former Park Ranger who has a series of crime mysteries set in the various NP.
Oh, no, I know. I was remembering an awesome road trip with my mom AND remembering that that is another desert I have been in.
Also, I don’t mix my fantasy/paranormal with my non-magical universe. ?
My heroine is an author (not autobiographical or a wish fulfillment fantasy) and she would know odd things from her researching for different books.
Lotta little tricks help. I ride my bike through there all the time. I always wear a t-shirt AND a flannel. People think I’m nuts, but it keeps the sweat from evaporating immediately and I use way less water. It’s windy on a motorcycle.
Not a book, but I can definitely recommend this.
THANK YOU!!!
Or the first half of this.

Clint deals with the exact quandary you propose.
Dog lovers should watch it in a double bill with The Dam Busters
We’re getting a damn stink bug invasion. Damnit, last time I saw this many stink bugs was when I lived in Ellicott City back in 2010.
I hate those things. I just saw one on the ceiling. I blasted it with bug spray and walked away, figuring I’d just pick it up off the floor once it was done convulsing, but it completely vanished.
They’re all over the screens of my patio doors. I hate that because then if you go out on the deck, at least one of them will get inside.
Speaking of drone footage
Danke for the hat-tip.
Unfortunately, I am not in Munich. Maybe next year.
“Festbier” is sometimes used in the United States to get around this legality for those that care.
Some don’t give a shit and call the beer Oktoberfest anyways.
I am in love with the woman in the thumbnail picture on the front page.
I’d argue most don’t. I rarely see “Festbier”.
Yeah, I hardly see it too. I’ve also seen “Oktoberfest Festbier”.
Nice write-up!
Danke!
OT: is it possible that the real motivation for impeachment is not just to embarrass Donald Trump (because they know they can’t put together actual evidence for a criminal case they’d win), but rather to neutralize Biden’s campaign? Surely they see that Hunter’s little Ukrainian Banking deal is going to sink his Dad.
Trying to come up with the appropriate game analogy. Maybe 4-D Candy Land?
Chutes and Ladders
It may not be an expicit reason, but it’s a least a “Too bad, so sad” kinda thing.
The real motivation is that the dems realize they cannot beat Trump next November. So instead they go into desperation mode. The beautiful outcome will be that they knock Biden out of the running and Warren gets the nomination, or Hillary actually tried a comeback, which she’a already hinting at, again. All of that is exactly what Trump wants. IOW, they really are that dumb.
Given how the DNC colluded to fuck Bernie Sanders out of his chance, I don’t doubt they’d do the same to Biden.
“but rather to neutralize Biden’s campaign?”
They’re stupid, no dem besides Biden has a chance in hell of being president, they’re all too far left.
Yup. But after this Ukrainian deal came out, he has slipped in the polls.
They want him to go away so they can usher in the Socialist Paradise.
I don’t get this part at all. Serious misdeed by Hillary had no effect. Hers were likely much worse than Biden’s (which are exactly the allegations against Trumphitler. In fact she colluded with the ‘Ukes to get dirt on Trump, also. This is the most tangled web I can remember in modern politics, and that’s saying something.
Does a bear shit in the woods?
As I have been saying since this all started coming out months back. This is Warren getting a twofer. She gets the nomination and gets in a shot at Trump for the price of one low level CIA guy.
So, nobody sees the Dems taking a hit for invoking such a serious process for such an obviously bullshit reason? I see Biden tanking, but how does this harm Trump? I don’t think it does, rather I see it harming the dem machine. It lays truth to the idea that they’ve just been expressing butthurt for the last couple of years. If the front runner (Biden) actually did what they allege Trump did, despite Trump having not done it, then how do they expect the electorate to deal with that? It can only harm them. There had to be an easier way to jettison Biden.
It doesn’t harm Trump with you. It might yield some line or moment that harms Trump with a few borderline voters in the Rust Belt. But mostly it is designed to mobilize their base and get the vote out.
I’m literally going to starve to death and die of thirst before my wife gets ready to go down to the tavern. No ‘desert’ needed.
When she is ready she will look over at you as though she has been waiting and ask if you are ready.
Of course, I got all that down.
Pinnacle Peak is probably my favorite Tucson Brewery. The Salida del Sol is pretty much their session beer. Good stuff.
They have just started making a “Farmhouse Saison” that is just the right sour/malty balance. Delicious. Their motto is “unfiltered and unafraid”. It’s run by firefighters; good guys.
Haven’t heard of it. Pinnacle Peak to me is a pile of rocks outside Scottsdale.
Aargh. Sentinel Peak.
To be honest you could’ve stretched that. I was going to look for Pinnacle Peak.
We have pinnacles national park.
To me it also a mediocre steak restaurant at the base of said rocks.
I spent many a day rock climbing on PP. Afterwards we would go a bit farther down the road to the Greasewood Flats Saloon. It was popular with bikers and desert rats. Made an excellent burger with a green chili on it and you threw your empty beer bottles into old freight wagons on the grounds.
Which one? The one that cuts off neckties or Reatta Pass?
The “cut your tie off place” is PP and is below Pinnacle Peak (the cliffs). Keep heading out (north and east) on the road and you get to Reatta Pass for better food (at least 25 years ago). Shortly before (maybe 200m?) before Reatta Pass is the turn off to Greasewood Flats. IMPORTANT SAD UPDATE: GF has closed.
At least Reatta Pass employees never flinched when I would check my pistol at their “Check You Guns Here” sign.
Yeah I agree. PP Patio isn’t great. The last time I ate at Reatta Pass the steak was pretty good.
For those who are wondering what we are yammering on about. Its where this scene was filmed (never mind the music dubbed over).

A Massachusetts man has been found guilty of indecent exposure after taking his clothes off and performing yoga in the nude at Planet Fitness.
I thought Planet Fitness was a no judgment zone.
Except when they do the judging.
Oh man. That was fantastic
Not me, I’m parked next to a Westboro Baptist type protestor as I type this. He’s got the obligatory poorly handwritten sign and his own PA system.
I’m kind of surprised Colonial Williamsburg doesn’t run him off since this is all private property.
Did you know God hates porn?
So much for the Old Testament.
Song of Solomon for the win!
You mean the Canticle of Canticles. 😉
Oy vey! Again with the sticklers!
You don’t like my musical selections? 🙂
My parents’ family bible (Catholic) predated Vatican II and called it the Canticle of Canticles.
You probably don’t think there’s a Book of Wisdom, either….
Tobit too, you Papist!
Almost Shavered
At this moment, for any of the above reasons, the man might have been Shavered – i.e., murdered by one of the dozens of itchy-triggered government-kitted psychopaths pointing loaded guns at him – for not “responding” to their orders and thus giving them the excuse they needed to say they “feared for their safety” and so had to end the man’s life.
But what was this man’s crime?
It wasn’t even a California Stop.
A few minutes prior, he drove past a female AGW who was standing on the street; she was startled by the sound of his modified BMW’s exhaust, saw smoke coming out of the driver’s window – and interpreted that as gunfire coming from the man’s car.
I’m torn. I mean, this does deserve the death penalty.
The most dangerous time in modern life is any interaction with government enforcers.
I can’t read Peters’ blog. I love both cars and freedom and he keeps showing how screwed we are WRT both.
We accidentally bought a couple of 5 lb “tubes” of ground beef that were 73% meat (rather than our typical 90% or 85%.
That is some fatty meat. Fortunately I found a nice recipe for meatballs, kind of Salisbury Steak flavored, that makes good use of the fatty meat, so I’m going to go make the raw meatballs stick them in the fridge to firm up a while, then put ‘em in the Instant Pot with the potatoes in a basket over them.
Delicious.
LOOOOOOOOOOVE Salisbury steak. I’ll be over in a bit.
There’s going to be plenty!! Come on over.
Way to improvise!
My butcher’s ground beef is excellent (grass-fed free range cattle that he raises on his own property, etc.) but it varies in fat content. When I make something like chili, tomato sauce, or anything that requires browning up the beef, I always put the cooked beef into a sieve over a bowl before I put it in the pot. It’s not so much to eliminate fat as it is to get a consistent amount in the dish. I put a controlled amount of fat into the pot, and I’ll freeze any of the excess (Potatoes fried in beef fat?? Yes please!)
That sounds great.
I’d pay more for grass fed beef. Growing up in Oklahoma, all I ever saw (and worked with) regarding cattle were happy cows and steers wandering freely over their fields and eating grass. In winter, we had to spread out cattle feed for them, but they were still free to ambulate.
When I went to Iowa, I saw (and smelled) feedlots everywhere there were cattle being raised. Same in Minnesota.
It’s disgusting and immoral.
They’re only kept there for the last few months of their lives. The corn gives the meat that perfectly marbled texture and insures my Ribeye is tender and scrumptious coming off the grill, before I devour Bessy’s pink flesh, with gusto!
Roast Bossy for the win!
Saw that & thought, “Ick! What’s the other 27%?”
Pardon my ignorance – Instant Pot n00b here. Will the meatballs brown in the IP?
I guess I should have said 73% lean.
To brown anything in the instant pot, you have to put it on Sauté. Then usually deglaze it, add the rest of the ingredients (liquids, veggies, whatever) and program in the pressure cooking.
Got it! Thx! The meatballs sound nommy!
https://cookingwithkarli.com/salisbury-steak-with-mashed-potatoes-and-gravy/
That’s the basic recipe. I use Campbell’s French onion soup (delicious and contains plenty of onion slices), and Progresso Italian spiced bread crumbs. And I add chives and stuff from the garden as the mood strikes.
I have to say, step one makes no sense. Don’t preheat the pot until the meatballs are formed.
The fatty stuff is good for burgers. Keeps them from drying out.
It’s what I use for Awesome burgers
Excellent
Fat is good
One of my most important colleagues at work is a dude in his 50s who’s been told by his wife and doctor to cut back on fat and red meat. So I watch him order a veggie burger time and again.
Poor dude has no idea it’s the bread and the fries that are health threats.
MDs know jack shit about nutrition.
Random observation: I have been seeing this “Populism is antithetical to democracy!” argument a lot, lately.
The only way that makes sense is if you are some sort of idiot.
I, for one, will vote for populism.
Over democracy, of course!
I think the word democracy is starting to lose meaning in general. When you have people complaining that releasing factual information about a political party’s wrongdoing is “interfering with democracy”, we’re fucked.
Well you see it’s because “those” people are dumb and really shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
It really is amazing that the Elitists have so fully draped themselves as defenders of democracy that they are able to pull this off.
From the same people complaining that the Presidency isn’t based purely on the popular vote.
Both tend to be opposed to liberty
the full pint can, which is the optimal serving of beer. After all 500mL is too little
?
Not to go all UCS, but 500 mL is more than a pint.
A British imperial pint is 568 mL.
Thank you
I figured I was walking to a trap. Are pint cans of beer in the US routinely Imperial British pints or US pints? The only pint can I have on hand just says “1 Pint,” no mL equivalent.
A pints a pound the world round.
US pints from what I see.
I think even the British imports are in US pints not Imperial pints.
Cheaper for the breweries.
Some of us don’t care how they do it in Canada.
“Is that a parade? I need to be in front of it.”
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused President Trump on Friday of having “turned American diplomacy into a cheap extortion racket.”
“He has denigrated and, let’s be honest, stabbed in the back, the career foreign service officers who serve bravely and selflessly no matter the politics of the administration that they are working under. And now they are caught in the crossfire,” Clinton said at a human rights awards ceremony at Georgetown University, where she spoke about the impeachment inquiry launched this week by House Democrats.
——-
Clinton lauded Pelosi’s “clear-eyed leadership,” noting the importance of women’s leadership in advancing human rights, justice and peace. She said the speaker’s decision to investigate the president was based “on the basis of evidence that he betrayed his oath of offic to uphold the Constitution and protect and defend our country.”
“Now sadly we’ve known who Donald Trump is for some time now,” Clinton said. “We knew he was a corrupt businessman who cheated people. We knew that he and his campaign invited foreign adversaries to tamper with our elections. And now we know that in the course of his duties as president, he’s endangered us all by putting his personal and political interests ahead of the interests of the American people.”
Clinton’s comments about Trump drew little audience response, whereas her remarks when she referred to Pelosi and said that foreign service officers “deserve the support and gratitude of all Americans” garnered cheers.
“But this is ultimately about much more than Donald Trump,” she added. “It is about us. It is about who we are as a nation. History is being written, and the world and our children are watching.”
I will save you, America, if only you will let me.
Oh god, please let her get the nomination again. It would be hilariously embarrassing for her.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused President Trump on Friday of having “turned American diplomacy into a cheap extortion racket.”
As always, the projection is strong.
“turned American diplomacy into a cheap extortion racket.”
I’m a Taxpayer and i can assure you that the racket is not cheap.
Literally LOLed
She’s got some fucking nerve.
I guess it’s good she found an outlet for her rage? She’s a truly horrible person. And i wouldn’t be suprised if after Biden goes down she throws her hat in. In fact that would make this whole thing make sense, as a Clinton Op.
*adjusts tin foil hat*
Huh.
:Reaches to head:
Hey when did that tin foil get there?
Well read this.
https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1279145-hillary-clintons-what-happened-book
They should have named it “Wha Happan?!?!?”
Clinton Ops involve suicides who shoot themselves in the back of the head. The Clintons can’t suicide half the country in the next 14 months.
Don’t give them ideas.
Sawell says: We do have several thousand nukes…
No way to claim suicide.
They already have the idea. The idea is destabilize entire areas in warfare, cause massive refugee crisis and then let all the refugees come here, because they’re not educated in Clinton. IOW, they’re dumb enough to vote for her.
“And i wouldn’t be suprised if after Biden goes down she throws her hat in.”
You’re late to the party.
It’s not too late for my coronation. They’ve really got him this time
Just in time for Barr to drop the results of their investigation on her shenanigans last time around.
Is she really this stupid?
If you are speaking of Hillary, I would say she is also delusional and willing to bury whoever she has to to get to power.
However, what she really is is a woman who got where she was on a reasonably intelligent, politically savvy, and charismatic man’s coattails. She is neither smart enough or charismatic or politically savvy enough to get anywhere on her own.
She claws her way to power with threats she is willing to carry out. Her sole contribution to the Clinton Partnership Inc is her willingness to kill to get what she wants.
There is absolutely nothing about her to respect, and I am dismayed that the feminist contingent refuses to acknowledge that she is nothing without a competent man.
“the feminist contingent refuses to acknowledge that she is nothing without a competent man”
Well, you’re talking about feminists. A vagina is all that is needed to get into the club, morals, intelligence, skills, or principles not required.
Tell that to the TERFs and women with cods.
Also tell housewives/stay-at-home moms, conservative/religious/pro-life women, and any woman who doesn’t tow the feminist lion.
I have friends who gush about her like she’s the Second Coming. I don’t know if they’re on the Liz train now or not, since I quit FB and I kind of avoid them now.
Oh, and she even fucks up killing people to get what she wants.
How many bodies does she have to her name? And she STILL isn’t where she wants to be.
My contempt for Hillary Clinton is almost soul deep. I don’t know whether it’s because she’s a fuck-up or because she’s evil.
I don’t know whether it’s because she’s a fuck-up or because she’s evil.
Why can’t it be both?
So how’s that foundation with your name on it doing?
ZING!!
Well you see it’s because “those” people are dumb and really shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Exactly.
“How can stupid ideas I don’t agree with be popular? That’s not how it’s supposed to work.”
Here’s one from way back. Blame Tres for starting me on ELO.
Ooh, ELO.
I’ll play.

Jeff Lynne was a genius. Everything he touched turned to gold. Until Disco-very.
How about Nightrider?
I hope this impeachment process precludes anything else getting down in Congress and that it last a really long time.
I’m certain they’ll find time for something like a Red Flag law.
I’m sure they’ll attach some martyrs name to it beforehand.
It just started snowing. Supposed to be he worst Sept snow since ought 34.
Montana?
Yeah. At least it’s only 36 so far.
Why didn’t we listen to Greta!?!?!
I make it a policy to avoid listening to demons.
I hear incubi are hot tho.
+ Succubus
“Why didn’t we listen to Greta!?!?!”
Umm, something about us old curmudgeons being too stubborn to allow 15 year olds to run our life?
It’s 87 in CBus.
About 67 and rainy here.
62 and sunny, here.
A nearly perfect early fall day!
I hope your recovery is progressing well.
Yes, it is, thank you.
No longer needing a back brace. Still have pain, but my husband brought me a “natural” oil to put under my tongue for pain relief. (No, not THC)
Excellent!
Damn those drug tests, though…
Please say hello to him for me. I hope you two enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thanks!
Probably some football and picture hanging in the house. Kind of figured out where the paintings belong.
88 here today, or was a while ago, it’s still very warm.
Nazi
Why…. what? Did I cause global warming or something? Is that you, Greta?
We are on to your dog whistles and temperature codes
The new hate symbols? 88 is one of them?
88 is an old but equally fever dream based one. H is the 8th letter, so Heil Hitler is 88 to them. I suppose this makes pianos white supremacist.
The white keys are bigger and more numerous than the black keys. How are pianos not white supremacist regardless of the number of keys?
Honk Honk
Beep Beep. Glad to see you’re one of us.
80s here. I’m ready for fall, Gaia.
I hear ya. 50-60’s for highs.
One of the things I like about here, is there are a couple of months both in the spring and fall when you don’t need AC or heat, typically parts of March, April, May and then Sept, Oct, November. I remember when I lived in the midwest it was either AC or heat all of the time, a lot of times both in the same day.
Could you explain this idea to my wife? Because I pay that particular bill.
Sure, move to Panama in the highlands, where you will never need either heat or AC. Don’t forget to send me an invite when you get there.
Some rain mixed with snow in Spokane this morning.
68 and overcast here.
I’m going to Munich in the late fall. I’m hoping to drink my fill of German beers after celebrating a major project nearing the final design approval.
Late fall?
Bavaria is very Catholic. If you’re there around All Saint’s Day, expect everything to be closed on All Saint’s Day unless things have changed.
On my first trip to Germany, my first full day in Munich was All Saint’s Day. The only things open were the hotel restaurant at breakfast time, a couple of beer gardens which were jammed full of people, and a Subway restaurant. I got breakfast at the hotel restaurant and ate dinner at the Subway. I spent the day walking around the English Garden and the old city, and saw hardly anything open.
I had fun trying to get my laundry done on a Sunday after a two week long trip prior. They had nothing open but the hotel bar and a convenient store.
I have no control over the travel date, but the natives would never schedule it on a holiday.
Ahh….
I guess for business?
Enjoy what you can of the trip.
I will Thanks.
I really want to do a real vacation there some day.
Take a trip south to the Reutberg Cloister south of the city near Bad Tolz. Cloistered nuns have been brewing a world class beer here since 1677. Their dunkel is out of this world.
Sit outside and have a liter of bier (ein mass) with a schnitzel and observe the snow on the alps. I garun-fucking-tee you’ll know life is good.
Take the time to visit the White Rose Monument in the Hofgarten. Put a white silk rose on the monument and reflect for a moment on the courage it took for these students to oppose the Nazi regime.
The Cult of Personality or it’s hard out there for a Dictator. I find it interesting when followers turn Presidents or even candidates into Icons. Part of the spin I suppose.

I had the opportunity to go to a festival in Landshut in 2013. It was a celebration of a wedding in the 15th century. It was essentially the best Renaissance festival possible, but with real buildings and settings. I was working so I was only able to attend one day it, with some time taken after work to check out the town.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landshut_Wedding
Landshut
That’s great. I liked the town quite a bit. That Cathedral was incredible. It’s a huge red brick structure.

While you all were sipping your IPAs with your pinky in the air and discussing trends in teh Nikkei index, Jugsy and I braved WOW-mart where acquired many Tall Cans of Milwaukee’s Beast Diet.
GT knows the one- and it was packed with ‘PeopleOfWalmart’ types today, lemmetellya.
And while enjoying a pre-shopping feast in Frisch’s, I tried to explain /sksksk /and I oop to her.
The only response I got- she looked at me over my de-constructed BigBoy and said, “why are you so retarded?”
She can thank me now.
Jugsy knows what’s up.
Did you give her some more SKSKSKS?
“it was packed with ‘PeopleOfWalmart’ types today”
Pajamas and fuzzy animal slippers, fat belly hanging out on their huvarounds with 4-5 portly children in tow? Yeah, it’s like that in every Walmart in the country.
“I tried to explain /sksksk /and I oop to her”
I’m starting to get onboard with the ‘Giant Meteor 2020’ campaign.
It’s my fault. Not only did I bring “cuntes” to the Glibs, I made Tres perseverate on /sksksksk and /and I oop.
“I made Tres perseverate on /sksksksk and /and I oop”
I’m just happy I have no idea what that means and I don’t want to. And if you try to explain it to me, I’m going to stick my fingers in my ears and sing ‘La la la la la la la’.
Tres will link it for you eventually.
Soooo Not.Clicking.That.
Choose the form of your destructor.
I think I just had a stroke.
You were warned.
I think I just had a stroke.
The other nun couldn’t reach that far.
Oh, yeah, this is nothing new. Teenage girls have been talking like that since at least the early 2000s, I guess it’s just because no one pays attention to them ‘talking’, so it probably took an expedition to discover it and document it and come up with some official terminology. It’s sort of like, how they can like, like use like, like 10 times in the same sentence.
So is that pronounced Cunt+ees or like countess?
“cunts”
It’s the French version, right?
Middle English.
Good to know….I guess. This is probably only place I could use it.
Wow, this thread is still alive? At least I have beer now.
I can kill it if you want.
Is that some sort of challenge?
…well
Yeah…
Kill it? Are you from TOS?
Yes. I’m actually Dalmia.*
*Judas Priest man! I’m not Dalmia…
Dude, I wasn’t going there, I thought maybe you’re the Jacket of something. Not sure if you were around when the famous ‘thread about nothing’ fiasco happened? I mean if you are Dalmia, consider deporting yourself now, I mean to Antarctica, for the planet.
That’s gotta be a treaty violation.
With the Antarctic penguins?
The outrage of the day: Trump told Russian officials in 2017 he wasn’t concerned about Moscow’s interference in U.S. election
They are always outraged when Trump makes perfect sense.
Because “not concerned” = “totally encouraged” duh.
Well, obviously he should have been concerned enough to start a nuclear war over it, or else that proves it. No one knows what ‘it’ is, but it’s bad because bad orange man stole our democracy.
Hmmmm. Funny, I never hear about this anymore.
https://nationalsecurity.news/2017-05-15-flashback-obama-said-time-and-again-that-there-was-no-interference-from-russia-in-the-u-s-election.html
It is almost like DC is chock full of compulsive liars that will say anything without reservation if it advances their own agenda.
“It is almost like DC is chock full of compulsive liars that will say anything without reservation if it advances their own agenda.”
That should be the official Wikipedia page for ‘Washington DC’, because it’s exactly that.
Ahhh… the sun finally came out. Time go outside a while.
Mine just went out. Now I’m playing wait for the thunderstorms.
Extremely calm here, not even a breeze, but very warm. AC tonight to sleep for sure.
For my fellow cooks and grill masters: there is an apron type that is the norm in Britain but nearly impossible to find state-side.
They are cotton or linen, but then coated with a plastic on the outside that is easily cleaned up, and provides protection against spattered oil etc.
I first found them at a Brit Expat store in Monterey CA, but since then I’ve ordered more online from Ulster Weavers in North Ireland.
They come in a variety of quirky patterns. I recommend them highly. One I gifted to my mother saved her bacon when a saucepan of boiling water tipped onto her. Just rolled right off the apron instead of scalding her.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ulster+weavers+aprons&adgrpid=54749606623&gclid=CjwKCAjwibzsBRAMEiwA1pHZrpCQxN3CmdLAcKPC2HfWIfgZoIHkZXR_aHKUoIV2bOF-OXKcI3EZnxoCyUEQAvD_BwE&hvadid=274685426535&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=1014218&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=5240164312601582818&hvtargid=kwd-355817823287&hydadcr=14864_10218905&tag=hydsma-20&ref=pd_sl_6dbkicqlo3_e
Well, and it takes the danger away from making bacon in the nude, right ?
Tres, use peanut butter to get the dog interested not bacon spatter.
I’ll have to keep using my “The Spice Must Flow” apron.

I’m sure Ogre is out there waiting to mock me.
That’s a good one.
I have one coffee grinder for coffee, one coffee grinder for spices. My husband once put coffee in the spice grinder, and I had to grind through a lot of uncooked white rice to undue the damage.
Now the spice grinder is festooned with the image of a Dune Navigator with “SPICES ONLY” underneath
You win. That’s great. My wife knows the book references but probably more so the Crystal Method song with the sample from the movie.
Yeah, I do the same thing. I store them separately but should probably lable as well.
I use them for spices only. I imagine the cumin seed flavored latte didn’t go over well.
I use a burr mill for the coffee. And there’s usually a few beans left in the hopper so nobody mistakes it with the blade mill for the spices.
Surprise
Warren seems to have the hot hand in the Democratic presidential primary. She’s challenging former Vice President Joe Biden for the lead in Iowa, New Hampshire and nationally. These numbers show that at least part of her rise is because she’s become more popular.
However, her growing popularity does not seem to be extending to outside the Democratic base.
Quinnipiac was kind enough to provide me with a crosstab of how non-potential Democratic voters (i.e. those who are not Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents) feel about Warren.
This month, she comes in with an 11% favorable rating and a 70% unfavorable rating among this group. That shouldn’t be too surprising, given that, while some of this group are independents who don’t lean toward either party, much of it is made up of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents. We simply should expect Warren (or any Democrat) to struggle with this group.
What’s interesting is the trendline. Back in Quinnipiac’s May poll, Warren’s favorable rating with non-potential Democratic primary voters was 8%, compared to an unfavorable rating of 66%. A CNN poll a month later put Warren with an 11% favorable and 66% unfavorable rating with this group.
Put another way, Warren has not really seen any improvement with non-potential Democratic primary voters over the summer, even as she has dramatically improved with Democrats.
Put another way, people who are not willing to be complicit in the destruction of the economy are not eager to vote for Warren.
I’m sure they’ll be time to cut some back room crony deals after she wins the primary.
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/26/wall-street-democratic-donors-may-back-trump-if-warren-is-nominated.html
They won’t. Not this time. The inmates are already running the asylum. The dems have went too far left, let the farthest left crazies gain way too much power in the party and there is no way back, not in the forseeable future. They’re going to swim in this pig shit, period.
It’s all about power and control. The Dem corporate donors just want to get their piece of the pie. I don’t think for one second Warren wouldn’t make those deals with them or they with her. She wants it too badly. They’re all about getting theirs now. I’m just cynical about the whole process. I just think she’s pandering. I
She has the personality of a fucking door stop. She’s not electable, period.
So did Hillary and more baggage, and 45k more votes in PA and 12k in MI and she’s have won
Hillary also had way more name recognition because of Willy.
She’s not electable as President. Trump must be laughing his way to a second term right now.
I like to think you’re right but I have no real confidence in what the voting populace will do. Too many are sheep whose political worldview is whatever propoganda bites they hear on the news. They just don’t think about it any more than that.
I wouldn’t discount increasing sophistication of outright vote fraud, either.
witness all the suddenly Blue Orange County House seats
And the massive DNC social media propaganda machine hasn’t even geared up yet. That will happen once they decide who they’re going to back. It will not be pretty either. A derpfest or epic proportion.
Of epic proportion
The legacy media has been losing power for a long time and it’s sort of accelerating.
It’s almost like a fix was in that could push her up in the polls while hurting the President.
It’s almost like Trump wrote the script for this one. Because it’s not going to hurt him, just the opposite.
True, that could be why he is cooperating as much as he has knowing the links to Biden’s kid and the Ukraine.
They know they have no presidential candidates that can win in 2020, so they’ve sold the farm to bet on a losing desperation bid. I don’t know how else to say it.
It is about getting out the vote on their side not swaying votes on Trump’s side. People on the right, including me from time to time, are getting too complacent about this. All they have to do is steal a State or two with vote farming, maybe a little absentee voter fraud, and they win. The Blue wall isn’t quite as solid as they thought but they have an absolute lock on more electoral votes than team Red and they are more willing to cheat. Demographics have shifted their way continuously for decades. Virginia and Colorado used to be solidly Red, now they are both purple leaning hard Blue. New Mexico is now Blue not purple, and there aren’t any counter examples.
But then they went over the top leftwards. If people are actually listening to what they are saying, they are scared as hell.
She is a gun grabber and a. textbook fascist. Her economic plan controls every aspect of the economy down to the most minute detail. Someone here once upon a time described her ilk as the. kind of person that sees the world as a game board and people as game pieces that they can move about at their whim or to satisfy their sense of symmetry or fairness or whatever quirky personal preferences they have. Warren is that in spades. She is a walking, talking disaster.
“She is a gun grabber and a. textbook fascist.”
So, just like all the other dem candidates? Warren is the American version of Xi Jinping. If I wanted to describe something she is like, I couldn’t find any better comparison. She’s the same mix of crony capitalism, socialism, and authoritarianism.
I would much rather she run than Biden. For 2 reason. 1, she has no chance of winning. 2, if she did somehow win, she’d damage the democratic party so badly in the next 4 years, they will be lucky to win any federal election for the next 40 years.
No she is not like the other democrat candidates.
https://madworldnews.com/omar-united-nations-border-crisis/
The rest are straight up communists. Different flavor. I wonder, if they manage to get power will the communists and fascists go at each other like they did in Germany and Russia after they dispose of us deplorables?
“will the communists and fascists go at each other”
You mean like the different identity groups are already going after each other in a bid for top of the totem poll aggrieved status? Like different versions of the same religious groups have been going after each other for thousands of years? The answer is yes, of course they will.
With the rule of law and the likes of us out of the way, this is what I meant
https://www.ww2incolor.com/d/37708-8/WW2+expo1_01_l
Of course that is the outcome if you get what the democrats all seem to want. I mean if they win the bloody civil war they start, first.
CSPAN2 has an interesting panel discussion with the authors of “Socialism Sucks: Two Economists drink their way through the Unfree World” by Ben Powell and Robert Lawson.
https://www.amazon.com/Socialism-Sucks-Economists-Through-Unfree/dp/162157945X
Their schtick is while travelling to all these shitholes they sample the bars including beer. The book sounds interesting, the authors certainly were.
“Socialism Sucks”
Check this out.
Socialism Does Not Work
Actually socialism does work, at the family unit level and did in small bands of hunter gatherers where almost everyone was related and depended on each other all the time for survival. And that is completely voluntary. At a national level by compulsion? Well, only if you like poverty, misery, and death.
There is a little bit of ‘to be sure’ism going on there. Yes, behind the asking for more taxes is a threat, not just in socialism. Government is force. The more government you have, the more coercion you have.
I have seen this quite a bit. Denounce socialism, denounce govt force but then…..weeeeeeelllllll…..we probably do need a little bit of common sense gun control…..and uhhhhhhhh….we cant get away with cutting all taxes….and no one is so heartless that they would not have a safety net. We can all agree on that…..
Yeah, no we cant. Fuck you.

The AC just went on. It’s 80 F in the house and very humid. I was just sitting here starting to sweat.
My house never goes over 72.
I’ll turn the AC to 77 if it gets this hot. It’s more to stop the humidity than the temp.
I pretty much keep stat at 70 year round. Keeps me comfortable. Yeah, I hate humidity the worst.
We usually set it to 75 in the day and 69 at night.
Funny thing for me is how low Brazilians will set their thermostat at night. They’ll spend all day with no AC, just the windows open, and it’s hot, and then at night crank up the AC. First time my wife (gf then) and I went to her house in Brazil, I woke up during the night freezing my ass off. I turned on the lights and was looking around trying to find the thermostat. I couldn’t find it so I had to wake her up. I was like ‘Honey, It’s fucking cold in here! How do I turn the air down?’. She had it on 60, seriously, it felt like an ice box in there to me.
I do that. 78-82F in the house, freezing at night with a pile of blankets. Best. Sleep. Ever.

Menopause has been quite good to me, but I do get those occasionally.
Meatloaf smelling good. Beef, pork, veal. Sauce I got from a BBQ joint in Chattanooga. Baker’s on the side.
